6 Picton St, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0, Canada
Nestled in picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, The Drawing Room in the Prince of Wales Hotel is beautiful, from the adornment of rose chandeliers to floral teapots and fresh roses everywhere. Prince of Wales brings your whimsical garden party indoors. Our Victorian Tea Room and English delicacies are fit to be enjoyed by guests who appreciate regal treatment with an imaginative twist.
As a high tea enthusiasts, this pales in comparison to other establishments. Too bad, beautiful location. Service was great. Food was terrible. Stale dry bread for cucumber sandwiches and salmon. Old croissants for egg salad, cream for scones had gone bad, humus tart looked and tasted like it was made the day before. Definitely not fresh. Fruits we not ripe nor in season. Breton crackers served with cheese plate. I would have expected much better, laughable from a vintage inn for high tea. Made supervisor aware, said he would let the kitchen know and that was the end of it. Really need to elevate the experience definitely not worth the drive.
I'm writing this while me and my wife still sitting inside the restaurant. We had a reservation at 1pm and arrived at 12:54pm. We spoke with one of the lady said we have a reservation, she said our waitress will come and grab us. 5 minutes later I heard they are calling other people's name, then I went inside said we had an reservation at 1pm. A nice lady asked for my name and said "now I marked you as arrived". I went back and started thinking why the other lady didn't asked my name? After we checked in, nobody come to us after 10 minutes, after taking my order, we were just sitting and waiting for our tea. Another 10 minutes later, two ladies sit down next to our table, they got greeted and served before we get our tea. About 1:40 pm, we were still waiting for our food while the ladies next to us finished a tray already. My wife becomes impatient and upset. We were lucky enough so I can see obviously our food tray was just inside the kitchen but our server was "busy" enough just checking other guests. Thank you for ruining our day and I will not come back. According to other social media, this thing seems only happening to east Asian people. I don't know if that's the reason. Just now, by 2:21pm, our waitress came asked if we need a box for the remaining. Great! Thanks for checking without any smile on the face🙂
The service was nice and the ambience is great. We enjoyed our teas as they were plenty and I think they use Sloane Tea, which is always lovely. If you want cream on your tea, you might have to ask several times, they recommend how to take your tea even if you have preferences. They may forget to give it to your table. The lower rating is because the food was just okay. Scones was not warm and the cucumber sandwich felt dry. Ee enjoyed the smoke salmon and the hummus. The portions are generous so thats a bonus. I would still recommend for the experience however I prefer the food at the RBG tea room.
You can't not go to the Drawing Room if you happen to be at NOTL. I have been twice and totally enjoy travelling in time to the 1940's afternoon tea? I feel special and like I am in the studio setting of DOWNTON ABBEY, remember? Must go. Will come back.
This was a last minute addition to our vacation. My wife called for a reservation and set it up same day. The food was stellar. Our service was even better. So thankful we added this to the trip. The town is also nice to walk through and people watch and/or souvenir shop.
This seems to be a “traditions” kind of place. We read that this was a must do for the experience. We did have a good experience. The service was impeccable. However the food was just okay. The sandwiches did not taste fresh. We’re glad we made reservations and opted for the Highland Candlelight tea service so that we could sample the meat pie. Definitely worth it even if it wasn’t quite candlelight. Overall I’m not sure I would return. It was worth experiencing once.
This was an exquisite experience. Mary outdid her customer service performance. She was polite, smiling and available. She constantly made it a point to make us feel at home. I must say extraordinary. And should train people in customer service. Our server Victoria or Veronica very elegantly served us. Her way of speech and delivery of service was royal and this what we expect when we are Prince of Wales. I love when she explained our trays with treats in the most stylish and fashionable manners. She is a keeper. Looks like she loves her job. And we want to see her always. The only thing was we wanted more sandwiches than sweet treats. Keep it up. Thank you for a life time experience. Love and regards Sarah, Sarina and Huniya( our guest from Pakistan) May 3rd
I've always wanted to come out here for tea. The best part of the experience: - Long hours for afternoon tea sitting - Value and affordable pricing - Portions were sufficient - Ambiance is amazing and authentically English - Service was very attentive - good selection of tea served in a really large tea pot that was bottomless. Very generous offering of tea - the cheese board for an additional $10 was well worth it with a number of cheese selection and crackers The areas for improvement: - Parking it difficult as it always is in downtown NOTL - Some of the scones didn't taste fresh - some of the sandwiches were not creative (cucumber) and the croissant sandwich had a very strong garlic flavour in the mayonnaise - some of the tarts were not impressive. - nothing keto friendly Overall, it was a good experience. I had some left overs but I wasn't totally impressed with the desserts. I've had better options and more creative desserts and sandwiches.
Very overpriced for the quality of the food. pastries were not fresh, service was ok. And do not expect much for candlelight high tea what it means is that they dim the lights a little and put one small restaurant candle on the table. The place is cute however, definitely not worth 65 dollars per person !
2nd time here-we got Traditional Tea (celebrating our anniversary). My husband got the Heavenly Cream Tea, and I got the Ginger twist! We always love our experience, and the service is always top tier!
So delicious and a special treat. A bit overpriced
The Drawing Rooms afternoon tea is not what it used to be. Save your money and go elsewhere! The tea came prepared, so you werent able to make it weaker/ stronger, if you wanted. I cant even say for certain that loose tea was even used! The cucumber and salmon sandwiches had stale bread and didnt taste very good. The croissant with egg salad, the croissant was stale (like it was left over from the day before) and egg salad tasteless. The scones that are supposed to be amazing, were not sumptuous. Lastly, the petit four, which is supposed to tantalize your taste buds, with little treats, tastes like something you buy from the local grocery store (tasteless cupcake with stale icing, a sugar cookie, a macaron). The entire experience lacked luster and as my fiance put it,you would think a place like this would have higher standards!
Amazing High Tea experience at this historic place filled with old world art! Great ambiance and exceptional service.
Food is bad. Service mediocre. Environment good, antique. A lot of flies tho. Food : 1/5
We were just at the drawing room for afternoon tea. It was fine, absolutely nothing special. But after the incident we had I really question their health and safety standards. This issue I had with the restaurant came just after we paid for our tea service. Out of nowhere, in this allegedly elegant tea room, a man (who later turns out to be the manager) walks through the room with a dripping wet mop and splashes the slop all over me. I was shocked! I mention it to one of the servers who says Oh ya we had a leak That was her actual response to me. Seeing the look on my face she asks if I would like to see the manager. I say yes and the man carrying the mop comes back and apologizes but again tells me they had a leak. Well, your leak is now all over me and my linen pants. Its just gross. He then puts the onus on me to try to resolve the issue. What kind of management is this? He then says let me get you some scones. His solution was to send me away with scones. Again I was so grossed out I really didnt say anything after that. Its truly awful customer service. At the very least they should have paid for my dry cleaning but no his solution was scones. Honestly go somewhere else as hygiene and customer service are beyond lacking here.
Worst service ever. The staff didnt greet us or acknowledge our presence, even though I had a reservation and came 5 min early. Ended up walking out after speaking to the manager. Dont waste your time. Go someplace else.
Vegetarian options: Grilled vegetable croissant sandwiches Food
We love the sweet treats, but the salty ones specially the cucumber sandwich were a bit meh, the best teas and service, we felt that some nice music adoc with the theme could be great to upgrade the experience.
Always came here for the traditional afternoon tea, sadly to say the food wasn t good this time. Our cucumber sandwiches were stale and we mentioned this to our waitress. Which in return said she would bring this up to the chef in the back. We waited a while for anyone to even come back. At the end of it all we expected her to come with fresh sandwiches in exchange for the stale ones. No one attended our seating area after the complaint was given. It s like they no longer want to serve you after and forgot about us.
The place looks nice if it wasn t full of flies and bread crumbs on the floor. They took our reservation for 5 PM, and when we arrived the hostess told us the kitchen is closing at 5:15 and the restaurant is closing at 6 PM !! At minimum price for tea of $55, I would expect it to be nicer experience, Regret planning family gathering at such place
Not the most polite and accommodating customer experience.
Would not recommend!!! The staff weren t friendly and poor service. Even we reserved the table a month beforehand and went there 10 minutes earlier, but still kept us waiting 15 minutes beyond our booking time. The food was so-so, nothing special.
Amazing and outstanding service and atmosphere!!! Highly recommended especially the waitress Rebecca Celebrated my 50 th birthday with 11 friends!! Food
What a great experience. Yes, its pricey, but its a fun experience you dont do everyday. We used to go up years ago, and then they stopped for a while. Looking for something to do for our anniversary I found the tea was still going on, so we excitedly hopped across the border. From the minute we arrived, we were treated wonderfully. Our server, Victoria, was engaging and knowledgeable. Shed accidentally given me the wrong pot of tea, and I never would have known the difference, but Im realizing her error, she brought me the one I ordered, and even set up a separate table -- such great service! We were in the solarium, which was great on a sunny day. The teas were outstanding, and so much! We were sloshing! The food was tasty-- pay no mind to the one-star grumps. My favorite was the salmon -- smokey and with a note of dill. My wife, who does not like smoked fish, tried it and enjoyed it. Victoria took a picture for us, and was attentive throughout our afternoon. My only notes are maybe a little more dill on the salmon, a little salt on the cucumber sandwich, and we really missed clotted cream (though we took full advantage of the creme fraiche!) oh man, the scones were great too! Wonderful time, and well be back!
One of our must-sees while staying at NOTL. Gluten free options were abundant. We chose the afternoon tea that came with a cheese platter beforehand- be warned, this is a LOT of food. This came with gluten free crackers and was a nice start, I just wish they disclosed the assortment of cheeses prior since some are an acquired taste. The options for gluten free were fantastic! I didn t feel the least bit left out in comparison to my gluten full friends. I had a selections of sandwiches, scone, and sweet treats. The gluten free bread is on the dense side (hence maybe skipping the cheese beforehand) but every option tasted fresh and was delicious. Service was incredible, where they wait on you hand and foot, and are very knowledgable should you have any questions. An overall great experience. Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options
Five star serving and nice environment
My wife loved the atmosphere! The tea selection and sweet s were excellent! All for a reasonably fair price point.
They offer a superb vegan high tea!!!!! Sandwiches include a tofu egg salad, roasted veggie, classic cucumber with vegan butter, and hummus on bread. All the desserts are also vegan, including the scone, and taste incredible! If you are vegan, give the staff 24 hours notice. You wont be disappointed, I promise!
Food was ok but it was a cute experience. A little too fancy for me, feels like I shouldve taken an etiquette class first.
We had afternoon tea yesterday. We chose the Prince of Wales afternoon tea which came with an assortment of cheeses, fruits and crackers before our tea. We should have shared one cheese and cracker plate for the three of us. We couldn t finish our tea portion. All of the food was absolutely delicious. We each had a pot of different flavoured tea. Our Server was exceptional, very friendly and efficient. I cannot wait to visit again.
Great experience. A bit pricy but worth the money.
Visited here during the family day long weekend, what a classy place! The decor is beautiful and antique. Happy they had sloane tea, it is our favourite. There were a variety of options to choose from, we chose the one that came with mimosas. The food tasted good, and there was a balance of sweet and savoury options.
My husband surprised me for my birthday with the most fabulous afternoon tea experience at the Prince of Whales. We are in Niagara on the Lake a lot, so this was a beautiful treat! The service was incredible - professional and friendly; the tea selection was phenomenal (and I LOVE my tea!); the food and pastries were just amazing! The entire experience was one I will never forget and would definitely do again. The room had beautiful Victorian decor, and the tea pots and cups were simply stunning to add a colorful touch. Highly recommend experiencing afternoon tea at the Prince of Whales in Niagara on the Lake!
All of the staff were incredibly friendly and seemed so genuinely happy to be there! Food was great - way more than we could eat and they do have take-home boxes for leftovers. I had my 2 year old daughter with me and the staff was outstanding. There was a highchair waiting for her and they brought our her chocolate milk in her own little teapot. I was worried how it would go with a toddler but the staff made it fantastic! Highly recommend!
Overall 4.5 out of 5. Excellent atmosphere and environment. You will love the feeling here. Food is above the average but we don t like the hummus tart. The scone is good. We tried the earl tea and it was smell good
The reason I love this afternoon tea place the most is that they serve at an incredibly slow pace. This actually benefits us in many ways. We can hone our strong will while waiting and enduring hunger, lower our blood sugar, and burn our fat. They will first serve you the tea you ordered, and the process of having tea is also the process of waiting for food. This process takes about 50 minutes. By drinking tea, you will feel full and less eager for the desserts to come, further reducing the possibility of gaining weight. During the wait, you can immerse yourself in this royal-style restaurant, elevating your level of elegance, imagining yourself as a member of the royal team, pursuing spiritual elegance rather than desserts. When the food finally arrives, you might feel a bit dizzy, but you can tell yourself that you havent been starved; on the contrary, you are no longer hungry, just a bit dizzy. Facing the food in front of you, you are no longer so eager. Please pick up a small cookie. Um, its taste is actually similar to Tim Hortons, and its not as delicious. As for the muffin, biscuit, and the pile of sweet carbohydrates, they are not much different from the cookies and muffins you buy in boxes at the supermarket. Maybe you still dont understand why it takes so long to prepare this bunch of things you usually disdain. When youre about to complain, you cant muster the anger. Just start the eat. So you start eating elegantly. When you finish three cookies and a muffin, you start feeling a little nauseous because the tea is also sweet. Your mouth is full of sweetness, and now you need something salty, like Korean spicy cabbage, kimchi, onion, scallion, spicy green pepper, pickles with traditional Korean or Chinese salty dipping sauce, etc. But when you look at the palace-like interior decoration, the royal patterns embellishing the teacups, you suddenly loathe your dirty and vulgar thoughts. You hate yourself for not being elegant enough, for still being so tacky. You look at the calm and elegant people around you, and you start to doubt yourself, wondering if you are a lower-class person. Well, its time to pay the bill. Hmm, the price is exactly twenty times what you would spend at Tim Hortons, and it takes twenty times longer than eating at Tim Hortons. But even so, you have had an extremely perfect experience. You have experienced the aristocratic afternoon tea, and the group of people around you, smiling lightly, nodding to each other, which is incomparable to the level of Tim Hortons. I highly recommend this afternoon tea restaurant to everyone.
We visited for afternoon tea and it was a delight. The pastries, sandwiches, and cheeses were all wonderfully made. The service was friendly too. I must unfortunately remove a star because of the fruit flies. We were constantly fighting a few off at our table, while the other guests were doing the same. There were more perched on the tablecloths cutlery, and walls beside us. It ruined the experience of an otherwise very nice meal.
Very impressed with the food and the service. Thank you Samantha. Food
Bad experience. We went there for the afternoon tea. The old lady at the reception has very bad attitude. My wife was asking her the washroom location, the lady rolled her eyes and ignored her, and walked away. We went there early in the morning, tried to get a seat beside the window, that lady told us it s not available, while we can see there were plenty of seats empty beside the window area. The food and tea is good though.
The product wasnt the issue. This is the second time we have been here and tried to get service., We understand it is a busy spot, but we stood waiting for minimum 10 minutes and werent even acknowledged so we left the line along with others. The servers were very busy so clearly had no time, but for a hotel of this caliber, the lack of service is not acceptable. Vintage hotels should be hiring a host/hostess. We left and had afternoon tea at The Watering Can in Vineland and were very pleased with our experience.
Amazing place for tea I loved peach tea pair wonderfully with traditional menu would love to visit again..
Very disappointed and dissatisfied! A typical tourist trap! Food is mediocre to terrible while the price is absurdly high for it (starts at $55 pp). Croissant is similar to a ordinary grocery store bought, mushy and served cold! They claim flaky and imported from French , seriously!? At least the egg filling wasnt bad. Other sandwiches were mediocres. Most of pastries were mushy too and not tasty. Literally a bummer! Do not worth at all. Food wise the only two good points were the tea and fruits. All silvery from cutlery to serving plates looked dirty, blurred or old, causing a bad impression. Nevertheless the venue is cute and charming. Service was good but not outstanding. And you also need to pay for parking! Overall an absolute rip-off, better to stay away
I find it preposterous how this place regularly does not honour reservation times. I ve been here a handful of times and every time, without fail, they seat us at least half an hour after our designated reservation time. This is a large turnoff considering this is what seems to be the norm. The afternoon tea itself ($55) is a fine occasion to treat yourself with quality scones, finger sandwiches, and desserts. I prefer the Marrakesh Mint tea with the service as it refreshes the palate between courses. When I was there in December, it gave Madam Puddifoot Tea Shop vibes (intimate, pink, feminine). There does not seem to be a dress code and most patrons were dressed casually. The service is consistently good. Comparing this tea service with other hotels who offer it, I would say it s a pretty typical experience. However, due to the long wait times despite a reservation, I d recommend trying another place for afternoon tea.
We had such an amazing time! The Drawing Room itself is gorgeous and the staff was very attentive and friendly. We had Rebecca as our server and she could not have been sweeter. I ordered the Peaches & Cream tea and absolutely loved it, I even bought a tin to go. The sandwiches and desserts were all so fresh and tasty but my hands down favorite was the homemade scone with homemade whipped butter, creme fraiche and strawberry jam to accompany it. Thank you for a memorable time, we will definitely be back!
Beautiful high tea experience. We enjoyed all the food and the beautiful aesthetic of the restaurant!
My daughter and I had the afternoon tea here and it was amazing. The Drawing room itself is so elegant and welcoming and the food was delicious and so beautifully presented. I highly recommend making a reservation as people without one were turned away. Whether you are staying at the hotel or not, you must go to the Drawing Room for the Afternoon Tea.
Great experience and service, Jodi is a kind and wonderful person. Perfect place for special occasions
Love the Drawing Room at The Prince of Wales Hotel! Visited last summer with family for a birthday high tea. Its recommended to book in advance. The tea was delicious along with the snacks and desserts. We also had mimosas with blueberries in them. Very nice place. Good ambience and service. Had a nice window seat where you can people watch on the main street in Niagara- On-The-Lake. Will return!
Been coming here for afternoon tea for many years Ill come here to eat every once in a while I always order the afternoon tea set with cheese plate The cheese is very palatable, has a rich flavor, and is not very cold or salty. Put it on the crispy cracker and take a bite, it is really satisfying Personally, I would prefer to put some jam on the cheese. It s sweet, salty and really delicious. The saltiness is the same as before. The croissant sandwich is the most delicious, but I personally don t think the others are outrageous, just average. This time I changed to a new dessert combination Prefer puffs and small donuts The puffs are filled with custard sauce and have half of the chocolate dipping on the outside. The taste is very fragrant, and this combination cannot be unpalatable. The two puffs that came up were one big and one small. The small one looked like the dough had failed to bake. This may be what I was not satisfied with. The small donuts are filled with chocolate, very soft and delicious. The overall salty taste is not as sweet as before, which is great! Highly recommended to try!
Servers and hostess, were polite and friendly, no issues. We had the traditional tea, it was expensive, food was disappointing! Sandwiches were tasteless and stale. Sweets were so so. I had been there a few years previously, it was lovely. The ambience is pretty but busy. Have been to other places for tea time, less expensive and much better food. Sorry, but I was disappointed and wouldnt recommend.
My reservation for 5 adults and 1 baby was schedule for 2pm, but they were running late and didn t get seated until about 2:45. While we had to wait a little bit, it was worth it because the table we got was lovely and really accommodated my sister and her little one. I personally wasn t a fan of the avocado toast, but everything else was so delicious. I really enjoyed the smoked salmon and croissant sandwiches the most. Mary, the hostess was lovely and checked on our table a couple of times to make sure we were doing ok. Victoria, our server was also great. Amount spent/person included tax and tip.
The Drawing Room at the Prince of Wales Hotel is a true gem in the world of high tea. From the moment you step foot into this elegant space, you are transported to a world of luxury and refinement. The High Tea service was nothing short of extraordinary, with a wonderful selection of teas that catered to all palates. Whether you prefer a classic Earl Grey or something more exotic like a floral blend, there was something for everyone. But the star of the show was undeniably the food. From the savory finger sandwiches to the delicate pastries and cakes, every bite was a delight. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the presentation, from the beautiful tiered trays to the intricately designed desserts. But what truly sets The Drawing Room apart is the service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the experience all the more enjoyable. They were happy to answer any questions we had about the teas or food and went out of their way to ensure our experience was perfect. Overall, The Drawing Room at the Prince of Wales Hotel is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a truly luxurious high tea experience. The tea selection, food, and service are all exceptional, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
Amazing experience! Peach tea is excellent.
A truly wonderful High-Tea experience. An excellent selection of various teas. The selection of sandwiches and warmed scones was excellent. Perhaps a tad expensive and hard to get a table (reservations highly recommended). Would recommend a table seating instead of couch/chaise seats. A must got in Niagara-on-the-Lake! Vegetarian options: Accommodated various dietary restrictions, and was able to adapt with advance notice selections. Highly recommend to call ahead. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating with advanced notice. Parking: Parking is generally available in the rear lot of the hotel and is town parking. There is hotel parking that is reserved only for guests of the hotel and not dine in only ones.
It is a yearly tradition we do when we stay for the summer in NOTL. We have brought 4-8 year olds and they have done great. Lots of options for the kids and adults as well. Kid-friendliness: There is a condensed version (little prince/princess) of the high tea. They also offer hot chocolate instead of tea with marshmallows and whipped cream for the kids to add themselves. They are incredibly friendly and understanding.
High tea was delicious.
The best high/afternoon tea experience in southern Ontario. Staff, service, offerings and atmosphere are top notch and exactly what one expects for this occasion. Great for a girls day or even a romantic afternoon break.
This place might be a tourist trap and I really wasnt impressed. I was bothered by flies the ENTIRE time while I was here. The server walked past me 5 times and did not realize me trying to get more milk. The food quality is comparable to a cheap bakery a few steps down the street. The atmosphere, you say? That s nonexistent. Most tables have no views, and just know that you might be surrounded by a lot of crowds. The only good thing I can say about this place is the tea itself. But that s something you can get for less than $5. Your experience here will be a random toss of a dice. Before you come here, I suggest you think about the following: if you re here because you want the atmosphere, just know that most tables have no view and you and your friends might be bothered by multiple flies the entire time. Flies will land on your food, land on your hand, etc. If you re here for the food, just know that it s no better than a cheap bakery a few steps away. If you re here for the tea well, I suggest finding a tea room elsewhere else for a much better price. I had a hard time convincing myself that having afternoon tea here is worth it. You can try it once, but keep in mind that the price is steep. Take your chance and gamble for $55 + tax and tip.
Had a lovely time! Jodi was our server and she ensured we had a fantastic experience. The scones and macaroons were divine. Definitely recommend!
Had a lovely tea experience here with friends. Peaches and Cream is the tea to get. Avocado toast was great. Get a cheese plate, but just one to split, it s pretty filling. All around, great experience and not a bad price for an afternoon tea.
The Drawing Room was wonderful from start to finish. The ambience transports you to another time. We had dietary issues (me a vegetarian, my wife a vegan and gluten free). They accommodated us perfectly. They like 24 hours notice for allergy issues. Our server and the kitchen were so lovely to help us have a great experience. The tea was exceptional. Best tea I have had in many years and I drink a lot of tea. Not a hint of bitterness. We upgraded to the Darjeeling tea which I highly recommend. The service we had was top notch. We even got a table at the window with a great view of the street. (That is not typical. The last time we were here years ago we were further inside). Thank you Drawing Room for making our day truly special and magical. It was worth the (very crazy traffic) drive from Toronto! Vegetarian options: The vegetarian plate was great. Given them 25 hours notice if you want vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: To accommodate gluten free or vegan give them 24 hours notice.
I took my daughter there for her birthday. I just want to let you know that they do have parking in the back we did not know that and we paid for parking somewhere else. The tea room should let you know that when you are booking. I feel it was a nice experience but very overpriced for what you got. And thats just my opinion. I booked as a birthday for my daughter and we watched others receive a candle on their plate I was quite a bit upset when my daughter didnt get anything at all. And I did not want to ask in front of my daughter. Bottom line I feel its overpriced
Perfect place for afternoon tea! Loved it!
This place is overrated. The tea and scones are nice; I would recommend sticking to that. The sandwiches were quite bland and very simple, the avocado toast was confusing and did not fit with the rest of the offerings. The sweets were average. The service was fine, and decor was fitting. We sat by the window, which we thought would be nice as we could people watch and the space looked cozy. Unfortunately, the amount of dust on the windows and all the wood trim was a huge distraction. A little unsettling when you are eating right beside it. They would do well to give the place a wipe down. Overall 2.5/5. Would only recommend tea and scones. Save your money.
I dined in the restaurant a couple of weeks ago with my wife and our youngest son. The dining room is beautiful, the staff truly outstanding. They are pleasant, polite, and attentive. The problem was with the food. We all got the traditional tea ($55/pp). The scone was excellent, one of the best I have ever had. The tea was also excellent. Other than those 2 items, everything else was very ordinary. Not bad, just ordinary. The croissant sandwich - we have made better ones at home. The pastries - you can find similar quality pastries in any decent bakery. The sandwiches (1 cucumber, 1 salmon) - I have made better ones at home and I am not a chef. The total bill with tax and tip was $220. For $220 for 3 people I would expect an outstanding meal. I feel that for the quality of the meal (traditional tea), the price is very inflated. For its quality, it should cost half as much. If the total cost was $110, I would have given it 5 stars because it is a very good experience overall. But for its quality, the food is overpriced.
For $160, what a weird experience. If the SPA music didnt put you to sleep, the wait definitely would. Took nearly an hour to get our tray, and what you get is an assortment of COSTCO appetizers.
Excellent high tea experience. Good portions that feel like a full meal. Great service and location, and some pastries are made in house. Definitely recommend.
The cucumber and salmon sandwiches were one layer on stale, buttered bread. No flavor. Maybe they were made the previous morning and not covered in the fridge? The avocado topping was not freshly made on-site and the cracker it was on was super hard. The croissant was also dry and bland. The scones were warm, light and delicious but no clotted cream, just crème fraîche, The chocolate coated custard éclair was beautifully made and tasty. The little pumpkin tart was nice. The fruit was clean and perfectly delicious. The service was okay, the server said as I tried 3 different machines to pay maybe its your card?. The problem was in fact, two of the three machines were not working, so her tip went down as a result of her comment. All in all, a disappointment, Sunday afternoon tea was not worth the price at a special occasion.
Everything is amazing
