Fifty's Diner in North Bay

New owners new staff, all the food has gone downhill. They still have a dinner menu but they close at 2:30? Food : 2/5

Hubby and I went this morning for breakfast Dec 8 2024 !! Our breakfast was very good and server was great

I have had the pleasure of working in this industry for over 20 yrs, the hardest meal you can cook is breakfast and they make the best breakfast I have had in many many years

Stopped in for the 3rd time. 1st time I had fish and chips. It came with soup 2 good sized pieces of fish(Haddock) and nicely battered, a large quantity of fries, cooked just right and a drink. Never let there hungry and a surprising cost. Next 2 times for breakfast. I ordered the amazing eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce. Came with 3 eggs and peameal bacon on english muffins, a sizable amount of homefries and homemade fresh fruit salad. What an amazing portion for the cost, and the staff are always very welcoming. Parking: Large shared parking

The servings are huge. This is a serious meal and it s good food very unique not like fast food. More importantly it s a simple setting and the staff are beyond friendly. My wife and I love it and have taken both our parents visiting out of town there because we are very impressed with it.

You get a lot of food for not a lot of money. And its good. One of the only places where its not 100+ dollars for two people and I still need to be rolled out after eating. Most of all, the staff are incredibly friendly and they are able to create such an amazing atmosphere. When you think of the classic small town diner, say from a Stephen King novel or something (not talking the horror aspects here ahaha), where you feel cozy and at home, this is a place like that, that actually still exists in reality. Certainly a rare treasure. Major props to the owner for accomplishing this.

Amazing food and great service! Its not easy finding vegan breakfast options but I was able to have a great meal of home fries (possibly the best Ive ever had), toast, and beans. Plus a fresh fruit salad, none of that canned garbage! Highly recommended.

I drove to North Bay, from Kitchener., to try breakfast at Fiftys Diner because my Granddaughter said it was great. She was correct. The food and service was fantastic. I would go back to try some the lunch items as they looked delicious. I can highly recommend Fiftys Diner.

Food is good, its a busy spot, be warned if you go by yourself they will put you on the spot and try and get you to merge tables with other strangers who are alone. Even saw them as a table of 2 to let a lady they didnt know join them. It was a bit strange especially if you just want to have a quick bite and not socialize or make anyone feel bad or be put on the spot infront of a full restaurant

Coffee is a bit weak, but typical diner coffee. The strawberry cheesecake pancakes were fantastic. The omelettes were amazing. The bacon was cooked perfectly.

Incredible breakfast. Included fried Bologna and beans with a side of hollandaise. Service was outstanding. Several servers greeted us and checked in with us. Non stop coffee refills. In busy plaza . Huge breakfast menu.. Parking: Busy plaza parking.

We ve stopped here twice on our trek from Sudbury to Ottawa for breakfasts. Always great, there s a steady influx of people which means the community loves this place, and the staff is super attentive and friendly! Thanks for being our little diner stop on the way!

My husband and I are from out of town and stopped here for breakfast today. We must say it was absolutely AMAZING! The portions were big and the food was soooo good. My hubby got the hungry man breakfast and I got a turkey clubhouse with poutine (YUM) .. Mitch was our server and he was super sweet, funny and made sure he checked in a few times, awesome service! We will definitely be back again

We had lunch in this really original restaurant, decorated in the 50s, very good service and a great lunch.

What can I say about this place? This is my second visit and now a regular top when I travel the pathetic excuse the Ontario government calls the Trans Canada Highway. Breakfast: the coffee is good and the pancakes are terrific. Lunch: try a burger but bring your appetite. Delicious! The staff is diverse and very welcoming. My server today, Mitch, gave gold star service. Eat here. You won t be disappointed.

The food was okay. Reasonable portions and decent taste for breakfast. Nothing to go crazy over, but good. But the service was horrible. Didnt end up getting half of what we had ordered. The wait was long and many of the servers didnt know the answers to our questions. Left to find out but never returned with an answer.

My husband and I went for our anniversary breakfast here. The eggs benedict is absolutely amazing, Im an extremely picky person when it comes to this dish but I honestly believe it couldnt have been better

I stopped going to Fifty s diner for a bit now but on Victoria Day Monday.. it was the only breakfast joint open WHICH THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT! With new owners, they were packed! None stop, wait out the door and we got in within 10 minutes and yes food took a bit but it came perfect! Amazing home fries and meal was fantastic. Refills were giving multiple times and you can tell the owner recognized and talked to people who ve been there before. I will absolutely be back here to have them again. I ll wait longer for their great temptation breakfast. It was busy, I expected a wait. Way to go !!!

My Dad and I stopped in here for a quick breakfast on our way through North Bay. Just wanted somewhere that served all day breakfast. This place was great! I got the mushroom and Swiss omelette and Dad got bacon and poached eggs. The food was done wonderfully and the poached eggs were perfect. What made the experience even better was that all the staff kept coming around consistently making sure that everything was ok and refilling drinks and coffee. They really wanted our experience to be good and it was. The atmosphere isnt anything to write home about but it wasnt dirty or unclean. Dont expect an amazing ambiance. This is a little hole in the wall diner that serves good food and in my opinion, they are worth it. Thanks again

Ordered takeout for pick up at a specific time later in the day. Food was ready exactly at the time requested so everything was super fresh and hot. Burgers and poutine portions were very big! Very tasty and very friendly service. Pretty affordable and prices comparable to other diners in the city. Definitely recommend!

Best breakfast in town! I love the crispy grilled home fries, baked beans, and my eggs are always perfect. And the service is ALWAYS amazing. And if you like eggs Benedict this is the place for you. And the fruit salad is all super fresh fruit.

Fiftys was my grandfathers favorite restaurant in the Bay, conveniently close to home and wheelchair accessible which he really appreciated. He always had the same meal, liver and onions and raved about it every time. Grandma usually had the same too, chicken Cesar wrap which she ate half and saved the other half for next days lunch. The last meal I shared with them as a family in 2020 was here at Fiftys, about 7 months before my grandfather passed away. I no longer live in the Bay but when I visit, Ill be sure to stop by. The owners are incredibly polite and considerate. Really appreciate the friendly environment theyve created and the great food served every time. God Bless Wheelchair accessibility: Owners always made room for my grandfather to come in with his wheelchair.

The new owners are wonderful people very attentive to their customers. I was reading some other reviews and I must say the lady that commented on the food was totally wrong about the food and the price of her chocolate milk. The food has lots of flavor and the service is impeccable. Sonal and her staff are always friendly and polite I will always go to there restaurant as when I want something different sonal is willing to do it. If something is wrong with your food just bring to their attention and they will fix it the best breakfast in North Bay. Thank you Sonal and your staff I always look forward to having a meal there.

My wife, I and two of our friends had the best time dining here, the guy with the black ear piercing ( we re so sad we didn t get his name) was literally amazing!!! So friendly and funny!!! We came From Sudbury so he really made our whole mini trip!!!! We would honestly just make the travel to come back!!!!!

Everything was excellent. Only thing is I have a scent allergy. Some severs were wearing very strong scent. I try to sit in a far corner to avoid as much as possible. Unfortunately it dont always work.

My girlfriend and I came here for breakfast on her birthday and we had the BEST experience weve ever had at any resteraunt. Our servers Mitchell and Riley were super nice and were always around for anything we needed. I highly recommend coming here, the staff and the food are amazing!

Went in for the first time today, and I will be returning. I had the fish and chips, and the spouse had the fiftys burger and fries. Both were full plates. The burger was absolutely delicious and filling. Fish was a good-sized fillet that was nicely battered and deep-fried. Im always on the hunt for a good diner/ma and pa shop. This is exactly where you should go if that is your style. Friendly staff as well, very polite and attentive.

I had breakfast here on a Sunday morning. Decided to give it a try after reading the reviews. Hands down best breakfast in North Bay. There is something for everyone on the menu. It looked so good I forgot to take a picture before eating! It was very busy when we went, the staff were good at what they do and I feel overall the wait was not bad. You seat yourself and when you are finished your meal you go to the cash to pay they do not bring the bill to your table - fyi so you don t wait for it. The manager or owner came around to all the tables to ask if everyone was enjoying their food I though it was such a personal touch. I would highly recommend and will be back.

It was really great food, really busy and super fast ! I couldnt believe it! I had to toasted Western with cheese and it was absolutely fabulous. But thats the only time Ive been there the person I went with was also very satisfied.

This place is Great!! We went July 24th. Food was perfecto! I had the eggs benedict complete with fresh cut fruit and home fries and my beautiful wife had the scrambled eggs and sausage. Next time we hit North Bay we know where we are going for Breakfast! ;-)

Very disappointed that this restaurant is not open for dinner. We travel often and find that North bay is one of the worst places for dinner. We do not like pubs and grills. We like home made meals with the atmosphere that goes with it. Years ago, this place was open in the early evening, not now though.

If I could, I would give this restaurant a higher number then 5! It was awesome! Mitch our server welcomed us so genuinely! We felt like he knew us thats how nice he was. The food was so good! Homemade chicken noodle soup was super yummy like my mom would make with macaroni! The bacon cheese burger was massive, juicy and everything on it fresh! The fries were done just right! My husband had a chicken Clubhouse with fries. He loved that it was real chicken! The sandwich delicious! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves mom and pop business.

Wife and I had lunch in there. Very nice small cozy restaurant. The service was very good but a little slow, which is not the servers fault as it got busy just after we came in. We both had the fish and chips which wee very good with ample portions. Prices, IMO, where a little high. 2 full fish and chips, 1 pop and 1 coffee and tip $60. I guess thats why we dont eat out very much. My only complaint was the menu that you look at itself. The print was so small it was ridiculous. Its almost as if they tried to save a few dollars on menus to get it all to fit one one page. Would I eat there again ....yes but not for a while. Have to get a second job first.

Had an excellent lunch at Fifty s Diner yesterday. Our server was very friendly and the food was very good, with very good portion size at a reasonable price- including a second smoked meat sandwich for only 25 cents extra. What a deal!!! My only suggested change for Fifty s is to update their menu which is currently printed on an 8 1/2 by 14 sheet of paper laminated due to Covid. The font size is so small that it is barely legible. This is disrespectful to patrons with less than very good eye site. As discussed with owner, please replace your menus!

I really enjoy their burgers/fries/gravy and the customer service is unmatched. Ive only ever been served by Mitchell and this gentleman is top notch across the board: efficient, friendly and keeps the gears moving smoothly. Compliments to the cooks in the back for making an excellent meal. Like Arnold said: Ill be baaak!

I have frequented this restaurant about 8 times over the years. Recently went to breakfast. Two eggs, taters and bacon coffee. Their prices (menu on lone not up to date,) are higher than many breakfast joints. Service is good. Potatoes dry from being cooked and held for too long or cooked the day before. Mine were cold. Quality of lunches has suffered as well. I get that inflation causes price increases, but Ivans and Burger world better. Colonal Hoagies is opening back up soon.

Coming from Toronto, these guys have the best customer service for me. The food is solid and atmosphere is amazing. Everywhere has good customer but when I told the story that I was from Toronto, he came out running to give me water for the trip. It was that good I made my first review.

One of the best places to eat in The Bay. Staff is always amazingly friendly and helpful. Food is great and all at a reasonable price. Seriously, take the time to stop here, you wont be sorry.

This weekend was my first time at Fiftys Diner and they did not disappoint. The food, portion size, price and service were all excellent. Im lactose-intolerant and asked for Coffee Mate as a creamer substitute. They did not have any so a staff member went out to get some at a nearby grocery store and brought it to me 5 minutes later. Talk about great service!

Great little diner, good food at fair prices.

Had an absolute disaster of 24 hours and needed somewhere open at 7am in North Bay, thahich is how I came to Fiftys. Food was great, solid portions at a solid price and fresh tomatoes replacing hash browns made up for 24 hours of disaster. Strong recommendation for anyone.

For a good breakfast at a local greasy spoon this is one to keep in mind. Havent had lunch or dinner but I have a feeling those would be good too. Very pleasant staff and quick service. Food was hot which is very important to me, and Im sure to many others. Atmosphere is quaint and talkative. What kept me from wanting to give 5 stars is the over easy eggs were overcooked, however the breakfast sausage was cooked oh so perfectly dark brown and crisp skin all around. So back to 5 stars.

This is a great local family-run diner. Widely known for their breakfast and un-matched customer service. Their prices are simply unmatched for the value you receive. They have some home-made inventions you need to be sure to try. This will become your favourite local restaurant if it isnt already!

We were recommended Fiftys Diner by some locals and we are very happy we came for a visit. We really enjoyed a lunch from here. I had a great little club sandwich and my husband ordered a burger. They were both so yummy. My club was perfect. The ham was delicious, the toppings were fresh. My husband got a cheese burger. The meat was so good. Great toppings and sauce. The fries tasted great and were fresh and crispy. If we ever come back to North Bay for a visit, we will definitely be eating here.

A great menus....too much to choose from.

If this place counted on the staff, they would be rated 5 stars. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food didnt come close! The ham (in the hungry man breakfast) was so thin that it couldnt help but be over cooked and leathery, and the unseasoned homefries were cold. The second item was the Philly steak sandwich was good, but the fries ( that were supposed to be extra crispy) were tough and cold. We didnt feel that the meal was worth the price.

No COVID checking and very poor spacing. I didnt feel comfortable enough to stick around to eat which is a same cause this was one of my fav spots to eat in North Bay.

Went in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Homemade burgers, fries and chicken that hit the spot for a late lunch. I definitely recommend this quaint little diner for some amazing food and a good experience!
