The first Colonel Hoagie and Burger opened in Kirkland Lake in 1979. Four locations opened in North Bay in 1981. They were located on Main St., Mcintyre St., Cassells St. and O’Brien and the Hwy 11 bypass. The only existing Colonel Hoagie’s is located at the corner of O’Brien St. and the Hwy 11 bypass. One of North Bay’s longstanding traditional places to dine. Kate Kuntz is the proud owner/operator of Hoagie’s Diner. Today, Hoagie's Diner is a local stop, thanks in large part to a feature story in "Restaurant News" highlighted the changes, and improvements made.

For a restaurant that specializes in breakfast I was disappointed. There is nothing special about the food that sets them apart, frozen home fries with a few not very fried onions on top, the sausages are deep fried instead of grilled. It seems that they are more concerned about speed and convenience than the quality of food. Too bad, I was excited to try after good reviews. Won't be back, your competition is doing a much better job. P.S. the lack of eggs Benny on your menu is a sign of laziness!
If you’re looking for a classic’50s diner then Hoagies is the place. Decorated with themes from the 1950s and 1960s, seating in the retro look of red vinyl with white piping. The food is excellent and the service is top notch.
I'm always a fan of this place. It's definitely a good spot to stop in, have a clubhouse sandwich before heading back out on the road. Coffee on par, staff is good at making their rounds and friendly. I'd admit, the price has gone up, and portions slightly changed over the many years of stops I've done with this restaurant. But that's like everything lately. Cheers to a long-lasting restaurant.
While this restaurant is convenient for a quick bite, unfortunately, my meals have been consistently mediocre. However, it was a recent incident involving the chef that truly turned me away. When my truck battery died in the parking lot, a tow truck arrived to assist. To my dismay, the chef aggressively confronted the driver and unnecessarily escalated the situation. The chef's unprofessional behavior has permanently soured my opinion of the restaurant, and I will not be returning.

Great atmosphere, extremely good service. Waitress was great, kind and attentive, always knowing when I was low on coffee. Kitchen staff were great. The wait time was less than 10 minutes to get my food. I ordered a classic burger with the works, and fries, portion size was perfect, and I was full before I could finish my plate. Did not have room for desert, even though I wish I did. Burger was nearly perfect, although I found it a tad dry (I should have added cheese.) fries were perfect. And for the atmosphere of the place, I’d say it is a great 50’s style diner, with an amazing aesthetic ie. classic coca-Cola signage all over the walls, nostalgic pictures of cars from the 50’s. Seating was very nice as well, with the old fashioned leather benches.

First off this place feels like it’s from the 50 awesome decor and great staff. If you are military you also get 10 percent discount as well. Ordered the steak sub and it was amazing. Prices were cheap for the large portion of food received as well. And for that it gets a five star rating.

Overcharged me 3 times , make sure you take a picture of the price and check your bill after.
Round about 1 PM on a Saturday. Service was attentive and prompt. Had the Chubby Checker, 3 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon 1,hotcake. Toast was awesome. My new most favourite place .
Whats not to say about this place! Best fries (and gravy!) in all of North Bay. Service was fantastic. Constant refills of coffee. Will be making this a regular stop when Im in the area.
Yes this restaurant is a excellent place the is Good good and the service is outstanding I enjoyed a Clubhouse sandwich with fries a very healthy serving and it was prepared perfectly , the three other people with me had breakfast which is served late and also excellent Portions , could of used a little more onions on the harsh browns but thats about it lol .Everything was delicious and a beautiful glass of ice water to quench your thirst. Thank you Hoagies Diner !!!!! PS coffee comes with refills!!!!

Food we had was hood fries are from potatoes and gravy ..dark n rich..was awesome Today we had the breakfast western omelette and buddy holly breakfast bith were goid and super filling. Small supper if any tinight..lol Another visit and awesome toasted westerns n fries

Stopped here twice for a road break and wasnt disappointed. Great food for a road side diner. I would recommend this place for great eats. Parking: Very busy both times we stopped.

Colonel Hoagies has been on my must-stop list for more than 10 years now! As part of what used to be an annual pilgrimage to Espanola, I would try to time our trip to ensure that we would be in North Bay around lunch, in order to satisfy my desire for a fantastic hoagie. An authentic diner, Hoagies Diner is sure to bring back memories while helping to create new ones. A true diner feel offers a welcomeling atmosphere. Food choices are quite good, and I can highly recommend the Philly style Hoagie with a side of poutine :)

Love this diner! Is an extra replica of a 1950s diner vibe. So fun to be here and the menu is so cute. The staff are also friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend if youre looking for a good go-to breakfast/lunch spot.

Placed an order via Skip which the restaurant cancelled for...having the audacity to order a breakfast item and a lunch item at the same time from a restaurant that closes at 2PM. Absolute amateur hour. Apparently brunch doesnt exist in Hoagie land. Wont be even attempting to eat here again.

We ordered the Rueben with fries. It wasnt bad, lacking a bit on the meat. The fries were pretty decent. The food wasnt anything special, a decent meat for a decent price.

I have always enjoyed going to Hoagies Diner the food is plentiful and always delicious. I brought my daughter (29 years old) their yesterday for her first time and she was very happy with the experience and food, they serve breakfast all day and she had waffles with Blue barriers and was full and satisfied, she said she will definitely return again. I think that says volumes for how we feel about Hoagies Diner. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp, manual doors I think.
If youre driving through North Bay you have to stop at this restaurant and have breakfast or dinner. The food is fantastic and the service is awesome

We came from out of town and stopped at this diner for lunch. It is a whole vibe. Very fun environment. Our waitress was truly amazing. She was kind and ensure we had all we need. Very friendly and inviting. The food was good. Got the comfort food feel to it.

Had an amazing experience here today. I came to study and have a cup of coffee and ended up ordering their breakfast special. The staff was incredibly kind and attentive even before I asked for a menu after sitting with my coffee for an extended period of time. Food was not only a great price but delicious and quick to my booth. I can not thank the staff enough for the amazing experience today. Definitely will be back!

Good food and great service. Decorated in a 50s atmosphere. But if it is hot outside, it gets pretty warm in the restaurant. They had no A/C when we went. So the inside temperature made it very difficult for us to settle the little children we had with us. Kid-friendliness: The waitresses were AMAZING with the children. Ages 3 and 2 years old.

A cute little diner we found on our way back from Algonquin. The food was amazing and decently priced. The decor was great as well.

Went there for the first time. Not at all a good experience. Firstly they made us wait 45 minutes for a order or soup , fish and chips and quesadilla. And when the food was served the quesadilla had bacon and ham in it. Never coming here again. Such a bad experience and the staff was not at all apologetic.

Amazing breakfast!! The James Dean Denver omelette was absolutely delicious. As was the Big Bopper. My friends had gravy which they said was fantastic. Great ambience. Wish they were open later on a Saturday. Want to go back for a milkshake and burger! Parking: More parking around the back which was nice. Kid-friendliness: I think kids would enjoy the 50s dinner vibe. Checkered floors, red booths and jukebox decor.

Good food and atmosphere, great service, but way pricier than I would have expected. For myself and my daughter, it was nearly $50 with tip. I just think thats too much for a burger with no fries, a kids chicken finger meal, 2 pop and a shared date square. It was my stepdads birthday and his restaurant choice but I was floored at the price. Will only ever go back if Im not the one footing the bill.
