312 Harbourview Dr, North Rustico, PE C0A 1N0, Canada
Open from May to October, this rustic, low-key eatery features classic seafood grub & outdoor seats.
We heard a lot about this restaurant so we visited the same day we arrived. It did not disappoint! We started of with a dozen PEI oysters and for the entree, we ate the halibut that the server said was caught just off the coast here and the scallops. Delicious! We finished the night off with a blueberry tart. Between the homemade sauces, the fresh seafood and the homemade ice cream- I highly recommend this place.
We love this place!! We go every time we head to PEI. We first went 13 years ago on our honeymoon and have stopped by ever since. This time we had the kids and our pets with us. They were so accommodating and it made our day! We sat on the front patio area and had our puppy and our pet bunny with us. The food was amazing. The kids tried the oysters and we ate lobster rolls. The staff were so kind and made sure we were all good. It was a very fun and memorable experience. Thank you for having us!!
We had done some research on the best place to have seafood in PEI and the Blue Mussel Cafe kept coming up. We also asked at the visitor center in Charlottetown about the best place for seafood. They did recommend a couple of local places but said if you don't mind the drive The Blue Mussel Cafe is very good. We were not disappointed, we arrived early because we heard about the long lineups to get a table. We did not have to wait at all. The atmosphere was very nice and welcoming. They even have a patio section for people with pets, a great way to make everyone feel welcome. We were greeted by our server Heidi, she explained what was fresh on the menu and gave us the market price. We ordered a bottle of wine and a large Classic Mussels and the our waitress recommended these over the other choice on the menu. The mussels arrived and they did not disappoint. This was our third order of mussels since arriving on the island and they were light years ahead of the others. After we finished our mussels, we then ordered our mains, Halibut and the Bubbly Bake. Once agin we were not disappointed, large portions, beautiful presented. Lots of flavour and cooked to perfection. We did manage to finish our mains, our waitress told us not to rush, enjoy our wine, even though people were waiting for tables. Over all I would give this restaurant high marks on everything, the prices do seem a little high for the mains. Would definitely visit again.
Best restaurant I have visited during my East Coast trip! The location is beautiful, even just sitting at the bar, I had an amazing view of the water. Such sweet staff! It was a slow day for them (which sounds rare) and it was great chatting and learning more about PEI. I had the halibut tacos and they were caught just 40 mins before eating! All around 10/10! If I come back to PEI, I will absolutely be coming back ☺️
The Blue Mussel Cafe was recommended to us by a local farmer and it did not disappoint. The food was incredible, full of rich flavor, and the price is very affordable ($, $$ about 15-20 per person). We wanted mussels and they were better than expected. The portions were healthy but not obscene. They offered three beers on tap... I enjoyed the flavor of all of them. The atmosphere was fun and social, exactly what you'd expect for a by-the-sea seafood restaurant. The best part of our lunch was our server (and staff). Kind, social, and helpful. We went here on a spur and was able to get in without reservations or any wait. They do ask for reservations for groups 4+ to help manage the queue. I highly recommend you visit if ever in PEI.
We ordered a beef and lime mussels, a garden salad, a clam chowder and a lobster roll. Everything was delicious. Just wish the clam chowder can be a little bigger. Service was good. This was one of the best meals in PEI.
By far my favourite place to eat when we visit PEI! The food is delicious, and the service is awesome. It can get chilly in the evening, so layer up. It is so worth it! My kids don't like sea food, they accommodated and we were able to all be fed and happy! It is a very busy place. They do not take reservations, but you can go to their website and add your name to the wait list. We were added around 4 and got in around 7. Make sure you get a confirmation text, or you may not have been added to the wait list.
Joined the yelp waitlist at 7:24, checked in 8:24 and got our seat at 9pm (Friday). Service was really nice and still let us order. Great atmosphere. The large beer mussels were great value, the oysters were yummy, as was the chowder! The lobster was overpriced. Overall great experience despite the wait.
Fantastic food and service. A must go if youre visiting PEI
Absolutely fabulous dinner!! We have never had mussels. These were incredible and the chowder delicious! Our server was so friendly and attentive.
Cute restaurant, servers were friendly and personable. Food was good but overpriced for small portion (scallops) definitely could have included more vegetables.
Food was delicious and views were really nice. Service was a little lacking. Waitress seemed more interested in other tables unfortunately.
This review does not need an extensive description of the food and service here. Its simply the best restaurant in PEI. If you have the time and means enjoy this wonderful establishment.
So far the best meal we ve had in PEI and the place is well decorated and the ambiance is great. Strongly recommend
Could not be better! Excellent lobster roll!
Chill seafood cafe with sea view, awesome service, realy nice servers who joked alot and fast service. Realy fast service, local food that is realy fresh, ordered halibut and mussels both were local and delish
Amazing food as usual, really enjoyed the Salmon. Atmosphere was great, I never mind having to wait in line for a table, always worth the wait.
Great place, would really recommend! And loved the fish tacos!
Excellent ambience and incredible food. Vegetarian options: Despite being a seafood restaurant, the linguine was fabulous. Food : 5/5 |
A charming restaurant with great seafood and a very good service. The oysters and the mussels are extremely fresh and tasty.
Great oysters, mussels, and atmosphere, we enjoyed it thoroughly!
We were told that the Blue Mussel Cafe is a must do - and it s true! The large bowl of mussels is huge! At least 40 mussels. Seafood chowder was a hit too! The pan fried haddock not so much (had better elsewhere)
The Blue Mussel Café was recommendated to us and it is absolutely worth a visit. The fish is freshly caught and prepared in a delicious manour. The lobster roll ist stuffed with a double layer of lobster ! Better get reservation for a table online to prevent queuing
We came as the restaurant was highly recommended. There was a 20 minute wait time, just enough to watch kite-surfing at the nearby beach! The food, the service, and the atmosphere were all great. Love it!
The Location is amazing. it was cold and drafty but they provided blankets and heaters. The Brushetta we had was the highlight of the lunch. The linguine was the saltiest pasta I have ever had and the chicken was extremely dry. Won t be getting again
Very good fish, in a good location with easy parking
PEI was a stop on our cruise, and we rented a car to explore the island. Since tourist season is over, many restaurants were closed, but we were lucky to catch Blue Mussel just days before they shut down for the season. The service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, but the food oh, the food was AMAZING. While we don t usually prefer lobster, I ordered a lobster roll as a when in Rome moment, and we both agreed it was what lobster should taste like. The flavor, freshness, and texture were all perfect; it s something we ll be talking about for a long time. My partner had the seafood chowder poutine, which was equally delicious. The chowder was rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the potato wedges complemented it beautifully. Whenever we find ourselves back in PEI, Blue Mussel will definitely be on our list for at least one meal!
BEST LOBSTER ROLL. Staff were friendly, when we went it was super packed but food arrived quickly and tasty, definitely worth a visit, try their blueberry ale!
Great cozy spot in Rustico, great tasting food and the seafood was fresh. The seafood bake was excellent. The haddock was slightly overdone and the breading wasn t my favorite but still delicious. Only caveat for me, I wished the lobster roll was heated and the bread was toasted.
Great Food .. Great Views .. Staff is lovely, too.
Busy as all get out, but enjoyed lobster rolls, PEI potato salad and oysters in the take-out gazebo. Great service!
Hard sometimes to get a table, but worth the wait!
Great place to stop for lunch. Their mussels were amazing lime and beer. Linguine seafood was also delicious. Slightly pricey but absolutely worth it. Staff were great and friendly. The walk around North Rustico boardwalk was also great. Next time will try lobster roll $29 MP.
I didnt go here
Another favourite restaurant during our Maritimes trip to PEI. Must visit! We ordered their oysters, mussels and haddock! They also have a kids burger. Everything was very fresh. Dont miss this.
Best place in my opinion to taste the local food of Prince Edward Island!
In my mind this place is good only if you are sharing. Otherwise it is very overpriced for what you get. Chowder is small, but comes with delicious scone. Oysters are good. Board is good. Bake is terrible. Expect to pay 2-3x + 18%
Didnt even get water and menu after 20 min waiting
Lunch portions were significant to the point where I couldnt finish my potato wedges. Overall the food was good, and if I had to nitpick, the seasoning on the fish was almost the same as the wedges which left the meal sort of a one note type. Would have preferred the wedges to help brighten up the sandwich. Again, its really a minor thing that didnt take away from the overall enjoyment of the food. The atmosphere is top notch and the theming is so well done, it bordered on charming. The music selection also helped set the vibe and whomever chose it, really liked Empire of the Sun. Id give 6 stars if I could because they have fantastic taste in tunes. Were really glad we ate here for lunch. Its on the pricey side but completely worth it.
Visiting from Ottawa. The food was so good. I mean really good! Staff are very friendly and they did not rush us out. A very well oiled machine. A+++ And dog friendly
Lovely place, but the food was mediocre.. Its unfortunate because we were really looking forward to visiting this restaurant!
HIDDEN GEM!! MUST EAT HERE!
Little pricey but their mussels are amazing and their lobster is pretty stuffed
We had the tuna tartare, oysters, scallops, salmon, seafood bake, and mussels. All were excellent. Don t forget to use the online waitlist - it works really well. The only thing is that parking can be a little challenging.
The fresh seafood and ingredients speak for themselves but the plating and prep could be better
Our server was exceptional, the food was not! The seafood was over cooked, the mushroom wellington was very under cooked and the tuna tartare was served over corn. We tried for 3 nights to get in and were very disappointed
So so yum! We were visiting from Montreal this summer and a local recommended it. The lobster dip and seafood bubbly bake were beyond!!!! The halibut was caught that morning and was perfection. We have little kids and made it work but they didn t have a kids menu or items that would work with young ones but we new that going in :)
Really great and delicious food!
Unfortunately the food has declined since we first started coming her years ago. The seafood chowder was more potatoes than anything else. $17 for a tiny bowl.
Great spot. Had the Lobster Thermidor. Suggest you give it a try if you go here (which you should).
Great place to eat, no kids menu though.
Lovely place, with delicious dishes, great atmosphere and wonderful staff! We spent a good moment for the dinner, during sunset : scenic time! Food
We had to wait for about an hour to get a table and were finally seated around 9p.m. (they thankfully used a Yelp waiting list and there was a bar area outside to grab a drink while waiting, but it might be a long wait if its cold outside). The atmosphere in the restaurant was vibrant and the staff were friendly. I had the Caesar) served with an oyster on top), the lobster dip (divine) and the twice baked lobster thermidor, which was excellent though a little on the salty side and a tad overpriced for the amount of lobster that was given. My friend got a delicious mocktail that had strawberry in it and was exquisite. Overall its a great beachy vibe, nice staff, and great food.
Loved the food and ambiance! Our server Carla was absolutely amazing :) Food : 5/5
Everything was excellent ! Amazing service ! Fast service under 1 hour ! Food
We ordered the halibut- it was over cooked and under seasoned. Staff were amazing, but food was significantly lacking.
Phenomenal fresh seafood with excellent service. We were fortunate to be at the end of the season and had no wait although I have heard you can have up to an hour wait so I would highly recommend the online waiting list. We chose to sit outside as the weather was very pleasant and early September, and the high top tables are Oceanside
We had a great chatty waiter and hands down the best meal in PEI. The food is amazing and atmosphere is even better. We shared the lobster dip, and had the haddock and halibut as our mains. We had the strawberry lemonade radler and ginger beer lemonade radler which were also delicious.
We were 4 people and since this is not my first time at the Blue Mussel, I m used to excellent service every time!!! But tonight, as soon as we sat down and the waiter came to the table, I/we could feel his vibe and it wasn t good I didn t say anything because I thought it was only me!! He was not talking with us like they usually do, it was very uncomfortable to put it nicely!! After we finished eating we were asked if we were interested in dessert he left us with the dessert menu, card and quickly mumbled what was the cheesecake of the day when he came back, we said we weren t sure what we wanted and he just said he would be back and left when we told him we were to share a dessert it felt like we were wasting his time he brought the dessert, placed it on the table and left when we got our bills, he did not come back, a co-worker came to make us pay as he told us our waiter was too busy and asked him for help let me say that this was towards the end of the evening and it wasn t that busy!! Let s just say that we were all very disappointed with the service we received tonight!!
The worst value of our entire 12 day trip. !!! Two cocktails and two appetizers- $80.00. A cup of chowder and a bowl of mussels watery, yucky, no flavour. 2 star only because the service was good . they had more servers and workers than mussels at this place. Don t go! Save your money and your mind!
Food was tremendous. Sesame Tuna with chowder. Blueberry tort for desert. Service was awesome. Recommend.
Very pretty restaurant in PEI. Nice ambiance. Delicious food. Great service.
Excellent customer service and atmosphere.
I recently dined at Blue Oyster Cafe with a party of nine, and my experience was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the halibut, only to find a long dark hair in my food. When I sent the dish back, I was told a new one would arrive in a minute, but it took over 10 minutes. By the time it arrived, everyone at my table had finished their meal, and I was left trying to eat while feeling completely disgusted, worrying that I might find another hair. When the bill arrived, I assumed they would remove my dish from the total, considering the situation. However, when I politely asked the waitress about it, she not only refused but also accused us of placing the hair in the dish ourselves. I was wearing a hat and no one at the table had a long dark straight hair. She kept telling us that no one at their kitchen has that kind of hair. This accusation was shocking and offensive. She continued to argue that I had received two dishes for the price of one, even though the first one with the hair was sent back untouched. After some back-and-forth, they reluctantly agreed to cover half of the cost, but it felt like the waitress was trying to guilt us into thinking she was personally covering it, which was not the case. Despite my requests, they refused to take off the full price of the dish. To top it off, no one from the staff ever apologized for the incident. I expected at least the manager to apologize for the experience. For a place with such high prices, I expected much better service and hygiene. The food itself might not have been terrible, but the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy from the staff made this an awful experience. I won t be returning, and I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone.
Food was rich and delicious; service was prompt and on-point. Timely, professional, friendly and concise! Lobster roll, linguine, seafood chowder and chowder poutine were all delicious
Great foods, service and location . A must when in Restico. PEI Parking: Pot holes. Puddles of waters, so little messy. Food : 5/5 |
Great spot with friendly staff and tasty seafood. The haddock was great but I d have to recommend the bubbly bake, my all time favourite. Be prepared for a load atmosphere on the main floor, conversation can be a challenge.
Tried my first-ever mussel here and havent looked back since. Came here with a party of 6 and everyone, including myself, was really impressed by the freshness of the seafood and the overall vibe of North Rustico. When I do go back to PEI, Ill be coming here for sure.
Easily the best mussels I ve had in my life. The halibut was incredible as well, freshly caught that morning! A must stop if you are near by
PERFECT place, we came back three times. We recommend everything on their menu, didnt have a single bad taste in any item.
Delicious food, beer, and cocktails! The mussels were delicious and their lager was very good. Everyone was very friendly and always made sure we had what we needed. We sat and ate at the bar and the two bartenders rotating around helping us were fantastic!
incredible fish tacos this time!
What a great find. Our group of 12 were quickly seated and provided with one of the best meals that we had on the island. The service was flawless from arrival to departure. This is a must if your in the area.
Great atmosphere and excellent service. Food was also excellent but not much you can do with mussels
Only had the mussels but they were great. The service and timeliness of the food was perfect.
Delicious fresh food! Amazing, friendly staff! Highly recommend!!!
Note that the fish and chips is unusually peppery. It was great, but not expected if you have a fussy eater.
Nice, if out of the way location. Staff was very attentive service was good and the food was really good too. Not much you can do when youre steaming muscles
Both our meals were sub par, and not we experienced in previous years.
Would have loved to have gone there but the parking and line up was so bad we left.
Great food, atmosphere and staff.
My wife and I went here for lunch today and were extremely impressed. The food is very good, the service is efficient and friendly, and it is has a happy vibe. We are seafood lovers and we are raving about the great seafood - quality, cook and presentation. We started with the local oysters, my wife had the halibut tacos, and I had a lobster roll. The people at the table next to us were also all very happy with their meals. This is a really special spot - we will return before leaving the area, and I highly recommend this place. Well done to the team!
The place is so cute and near the water, the staff is so nice and the atmosphere is great. This is an awesome place to enjoy the sunset, although it gets crowded. You have to go to their website to wait virtually online, which I found to be very convenient and simple to do. The food is expensive. The portions are ok, could be considered small. I recommend the salmon and blueberry pie, it was absolutely delicious.
We shared the oysters and each ordered the halibut with a lovely glass of Chardonnay. WOW! The halibut was once in a lifetime delicious. Our server, Nadine (request her section!) described it as freshly caught every day and gone when it s gone . It was served with some fresh vegetables that were out of this world.
One of the best places to eat on PEI!
Probably one of my favourite places to eat in PEI. The restaurant has a really cool vibe and the food is great. Can be a little hard to get a table depending on when what day you re dining but it s worth the wait. Would highly recommend!
Very good, but I expected better given the reputation of the place. Very expensive but great experience.
Pretty yummy food. The oysters had a few shell pieces (so not a perfect shuck) but really tasty. The lobster cheese dip was OK but the halibut was excellent. Very fun date night. Service was excellent
Very good service, good meal, but for the lobster dip, I suggest you eat with something else, because it is very rich.
It s very tasty and good the food
Everything was excellent! We were lucky to have a table, since it seems necessary to register on the waiting list (online) during the high season due to the traffic.
Had a great dinner! We experienced great service and were very happy with the food.
Great place, far from the usual fried food. However, it is very busy, so it is recommended to get there early or plan for a wait by checking their site
Freshest oysters I ve had in a very long time. Lobster rolls and the even the kids meals were extremely tasty! Service was exceptional as well. Definitely add this to your itinerary if out in PEI.
Great experience. High quality dishes. Charcuterie was the best variety and exploration of harbor tastes.
This place is a must!!! The service and the food is the best in PEI
Beautiful location but after our appetizer (bruschetta), it took more than an hour for our mains to come out. Kids were served first (burger for one, mussels for the other). Husband s scallop pasta arrived 5 minutes later. My lobster roll arrived last, about 10 min after kids. Waitress said something about kitchen being overwhelmed but honestly it felt like they had forgotten about our order because those that came after us, ate together, and finished before our meals arrived. Very disappointing experience. Hard to appreciate the meal when it was so late and no one seemed to care. Kid-friendliness: It seemed very kid-friendly but I m not sure anyone would be happy with the long wait.
Great atmosphere and food! Had the mussels, pan fried haddock and charcuterie. All were great. Oysters are a bit expensive here. Also I liked how they had a wait list instead of reservations, all restaurants should do that.
Mind blowing tasty treats. The fresh halibut was the juiciest fish I have ever had. And the seafood chowder...simply amazing.. cant describe it..one has to taste and feel it. Fresh oysters was served and it was amazing
Excellent food in a beautiful setting with Knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Let s do it again!!! Five Stars!!! The service, food and atmosphere! Holly and Carla Rock!!! Don t miss this while on the Island.
Food is very tasty with amazing decoration in the restaurant. Worth the visit for sure. I took one star off because i waited almost 20 minutes to be able to get my bill and another 5 minutes to pay with cards. Note: remember to reserve a seat on Google prior your visit.
Tried it out during a very hot summer day. There was anoter restaurant in front blocking the waterfront view, but this is there place to visit. Covered outdoor areas kept us cool and enjoying the breeze off the water. The food was wonderful. This is a great place to recharge while visiting the national parks.
We liked our experience but we found it a little expensive for value for money! $37.00 for a seafood gratin with little seafood unfortunately!! Impeccable service by Alexa!
Good food and excellent customer service by Chana. I had Rustico Bay and Lucky Lime oysters.
Best chowder and blueberry pie! Very friendly staff.
Good experience, great food, great ambiance. I recommande this place 100% Parking: Tiny parking but we can park on the grass Food : 5/5 |
We had the halibut!!! Whoa! The size of my fist. The best Ive ever had and the only fish I eat is halibut!! The BEST!!!!
The food was heavily salted and overpriced. They also didn t have a kids dinner menu which also took away from our experience. The atmosphere and service partially made up for our lacklustre experience
Must try their lobster roll n steamed mussels
This is an iconic place, very famous on the island. It might be too famous now. They are struggling to serve everyone and the food quality is also diminishing. It is not bad but definitely not special, there are better and less crowded options. Our service was slow and the fish was overcooked.
Excellent restaurant, everything is fresh and even the desserts and a big thank you to the super kind and attentive waitress Keyla
We loved Blue Muscle Cafe. We went 2 times in 3 days and would go back for sure!
Went with family for the first time. Visiting from Nunavut but lived in Toronto for ten years prior. Go to a lot of restaurants and I am pretty picky. This place was a ten out of ten. It was so busy and the service was wonderful, engaging, knowledgeable, and quick. Had many dishes and drinks between all of us, so I feel we tried it all. The people in the comments saying this place fell off: are you well? You need your head examined, haha. The food was top notch. Best cocktails I ve had in NS so far and lots of great non alcoholic cocktails too! Fresh seafood and inventive combos. Lobster roll top five of my life. There s a reason this place is packed out the door EVERY DAY so just do your yourself a favour and go.
We loved it not to expensive and the location looking over the water topped our visit off
I liked the food, and the service was great! Would go there again :) Food
Come for the food and stay for the Julian! We had the most amazing service experience and the food and cocktails were fantastic. It was definitely a high point during our trip to the island.
Very nice place ! Definitely worth it , the sea food was fresh the oysters and lobster roll were really good
Worth the wait! Use the online wait list.
Very overrated and overhyped. Much better experiences elsewhere. The lobster dip was biggest disappointment and mussels were OK. Would not recommend
Fantastic food and fantastic atmosphere. Our server Jules was incredible. Went out of his way to help accommodate our baby. Will be back next time we re here.
Went there twice on vacation and loved it, very busy cause the food and service is great. Well worth the detour.
Amazing service! Fantastic oysters
I had the pan fried haddock which was swamped with fish seasoning. A little less would have been nicer. It also came with huge potato wedges swamped with the same seasoning. Id have preferred less seasoning and fries for a lighter meal on such a hot day. My wife and I shared the lobster dip which was amazing! We also had mocktails which were also incredibly tasty! The staff were reeeeally nice and friendly and the layout of the restaurant was unique. Be warned theres no ac and the place is insanely popular. We had to wait in line before it even opened, so come early.
Do not sit outside in front unless you want dirt in your food. The food was phemonenal. Best lobster roll on island.
A lively and very popular restaurant, probably the most reviewed place on PEI. You can see the water from the bar and terrace seats, theres always a long queue. Sign up for the queue online and if you dont mind eating at the bar, ask for seats there, thats a nice workaround. The seafood here is amazing and so is the staff. Had a lovely evening there.
This is a place you have to try! I LOVED everything about it. Looking forward to travelling back and eating here again.
Great service! Great food!
Very good restaurant
Incredible food, fantastic staff, gorgeous restaurant. We didn t remember to put our names on the waitlist, but let me say the two-hour wait was worth it. As a non-drinker, I so appreciate the selection of elevated mocktails. This is a must-stop if you appreciate excellent food. We go everytime we re on the island.
Great place to eat! Very tasty, nice staff, thanks for our waiter BJ. He suggested us a local cider, and food to choose. Everything is done professionally, very friendly people and delicious food. Do not forget about dessert. Mouse cake needs to be tried. Small suggestions. For the younger eaters they better have some cushions for the chairs, table are too high for them. And if it is possible, make the chowder soup portion slightly bigger. Hope to come back again!
Had 2 drinks each, great atmosphere
Lunch was fantastic! Our server was lively and kind. During a very busy Friday lunch, they handled the service beautifully! We really loved our experience!!
If I could give the service more stars, I would. Even my 5 year old commented on how nice our server was the day after our visit. Food- amazing. We ordered the lobster termidor, halibut, mussels, and fish and chips- all delicious. The cocktails were awesome, the maple syrup in an Old Fashion was a treat. Only wish they had a kids menu.
Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere!
Stopped in for oysters. They were fantastic. Located in pretty busy spot and gets busy real quick. Call in advance, if you know youre going to be in the area. Cant comment on anything else but the oysters, but everything we saw others get looked great.
My family and I ate here last night. The food was very good. The service was good as well. I had the Seafood Bubly Bake. It was very good. My only complaint was that the price was a bit high. Not outrageous though. Parking was bad, but Im not sure how theyd fix that.
Great place. Amazing service Jules is such a fun and attentive person that makes the whole experience so much better!! And the food delicious.. only thing I can say is the mussels needed a bit more wine and less water other than that amazing!! Beer is really good try the blueberry Ale
We ate here on our last night on PEI. The food and the service were fantastic. I had the Bubbly Bake, and we all shared 2 lb.of mussels and some oysters. I also love that they came around with wool blankets for those of us eating on the porch. It was August, but getting very chilly in the evening. It was a splurge, but a really great meal. It was a long wait, and it was very useful that we could get on the waitlist ahead of time online. Since we could watch our queue position on thebYelp app, it helped manage our expectations, because the wait was well over 90 minutes. (We had a child in our party and itbwas nice to be able to show him as our position dropped from 38th in line on down.) And we spent the time walking around the surrounding area. It was more rustic area around the restaurant and was possibly the most charming area we saw on PEI - not so touristy.
I LOVE the BMC! The food is fresh and delicious. The staff care about our experience and are awesome. The restaurant is casual, nestled in the beautiful North Rustico Harbour. You may have to wait a bit for your table but it s absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!
I visited this restaurant for the first time in May 2024 for my dad s 80th birthday. It was his choice having been there before. It was so good! Everything! The atmosphere, the food, the waitress, the view.. the whole experience! I can t recommend it enough! If I had one complaint it would be the lack of high chairs. There were only a couple in the restaurant at the time & they were occupied during our entire meal. We made do with a booster but a high chair really was required.
Great food and location with a beach walking distance away. We decided to stop by for lunch prior to heading over to Charlottetown and we all enjoyed our meals!
Definitely worth the wait! The seafood is so fresh and delicious and my tasty cocktail had fresh strawberry puree and savory rosemary. This place is fantastic!
You deserve 5 stars. I will gladly adjust my rating when you adjust your google hours or when you add that you are closing service from 2 to 3:15 in your FAQS. Its just getting people annoyed to arrive and be closed when they expect no wait time because the wait list is empty... I love this place. The food and service is great. We come here most of our PEI visits and dont mind the waitlist.
Their oysters were really fresh and yummy! Also enjoyed their lobster rolls. Their outside patios have shade and is dog friendly!
Amazing food!! Lovely decorations! Only downfall is that you cant book in advance but you can be on a waitlist. They also close for an hour in the afternoon to switch menus but its not advertised (unless I missed it) on google maps or their site so we ended waiting longer. Still recommend this place for sure!
Was there 3 years ago had a fantastic seafood chowder. Had the same the other day, half the size and not nearly as good. Wasnt bad but just not as tasty.
Exactly what was expected - Absolutely awesome! Great food, atmosphere, service.
This is the place to stop and eat even though you have your pet, its a pet friendly place, if you eat on the terrace. Friendly staff, they will take good care of you. The food was so delicious everything we took was fabulous, nice portions too. Make sure you reserve for dinner. Parking: If you get there early you should be able to find yourself a spot if not, there is a place down the road that you can park its only 3 to 4 minutes walk. Dont go there with a big or long RV there is no place for it.
First no reservation but need to be on yelp waiting list .ended up waiting an extra 40 min Onece in ; no decent wine list ,then Aperol Spitz was so not sparkling..I had to send it back to notice latter I was charged for it mocktails were good however. Food; halibut was overcooked, mussels undercooked 1/3 of the shells were not open and my scallops where twice as small as announced and also overcooked. So over 250$ for this is too much and reviews are misleading it is an ok bistro great location but no more !
Awesome service - great server, fast service to receive food, beautiful location. Food is overrated and overpriced though - 17$+tx for a tiny bowl of chowder was crazy, like palm size bowl. And the little blue café just beside where they serve oysters and lobster rolls - we tried the lobster roll..29$+tx for 1 lobster roll in a cold hotdog bun not even grilled was deceiving to say the least for 65$ (for 2 lobsters roll and 2 spoonful of potatoe salad each) youd think they would at leassst grill the bun like some kind of effort to make it look like a 30$ lobster roll. Yes, it is the norm to pay $$$ for seafood, but this is not it for the size, taste and effort sadly.
The staff were very welcoming and really knew the menu and made amazing recommendations on what to order. The food portion sizes were spot on! The lobster dip was very good!
Excellent restaurant.
Its our second time coming here with a large group and we were thrilled that we got a table as quick as we did. If you arrive just before the dinner rush, you may not have to wait. If you do have to wait, I promise it will be worth it. Our server was so sweet and helpful. She made us feel welcome and recommended drinks that suited my preferences. The food and drinks were excellent and portion sizes were great! The atmosphere was perfect. This place really puts in the effort to ensure you feel taken care of.
Anything this good is usually illegal! It is one of the best restaurants on the island.
Our 2nd time eating here, absolutely loved it, food and staff was amazing healthy portions clean great location
Nice sea side restaurant, get there early as there is always a waiting list. While you wait you can enjoy a drink and some ousters outside. Food portions are good, flavors were nice. Small menu choices but, it s what you would expect. Oysters were tasty, seafood bake was nice, mussels were good but i have had better. Over all great experience and would recommend eating here if you like seafood. Staff was friendly and service was good. Parking: Small lot to park but, there is also a lot towards the end of the street just a short walk away.
Delicious food, except for the mussels surprisingly as they were kind of bland. Drinks are delicious. In general it is a bit pricey. The service wasn t the greatest though, as it was slow and the server was a bit out of sight. Beautiful view of the water.
Great service, beautiful atmosphere and view, and delicious food. A bit pricey but Ive never been disappointed
This place is a gem.
An excellent experience: I highly recommend! The service is really pleasant, smiling and fast. I like that they give 2 sets of utensils. The food is simple but really good, it highlights the variety of seafood and the freshness of the regions products. We had starters to share which were very good and a good option to taste a bit of everything. I also really liked the decoration of the restaurant, which gives a fresh and open feeling, with a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is family friendly, it also offers childrens menus if you wish. We spent around $50 per person for a starter and main course, which is a bit expensive but reasonable for the quantity/quality. An excellent experience: would strongly recommend! The service is really nice and fast. Kudos for giving 2 set of utensils. The food is simple but really good, it showcases pretty well the seafood variety and freshness of the products from the region. Very nice place, nice ppl, food is very good too. The halibut is very tasty, the sauce matches the dish perfectly. Definitely recommend.
Definitely a must! The drinks and food were amazing. Get the oysters and the muscles in lime and blueberry broth, if you are a shellfish person. My first ever lobster roll was amazing. The restaurant is cute and a bit kitsch, and absolutely fabulous. Alex was our amazing server!
My wife and I went for the 2nd time this year. Weve been to every restaurant on the island and this place is by far the best restaurant!! The halibut diner is in my opinion the absolute best dish on pei. My wife had the haddock which is also very good. The service is amazing. Jules your the best! Highly recommend to anyone who loves seafood. Great atmosphere, service, and food is 2nd to none.
I love you
Great food and dessert, nice atmosphere, vegan options, nice views depending on where youre seated Vegetarian options: I think theres a single vegan entree option which my daughter enjoyed. We showed up early on a rainy Thursday, ~5:15. Line was down the ramp when we left. Parking: Designated lot is small, street and grass parking nearby is chaotic
My family and I had lunch on July 10. Cannot say enough of how delicious everything was. We were 5 adults and 2 kids. We ordered lobster dip, bruschetta and mussels for appetizers and lobster roll, panseared haddock, haddock fish burger, lobster rolls, chicken burger, Caesar salad and chicken burger for entrees. 5/5 for everything. Dessert was excellent top, pistachio cheesecake, Blueberry tarte and raspberry chocolate mousse cake again 5/5 The Blueberry mojito, Caesar and spicy margarita are recommended This is a yearly must visit for us. Cant wait until next year. Have to shout out the servers as well. Very friendly, accommodating and attentive. Always made sure our drinks were still good and our water glasses were full. Atmosphere is very cozy with a true east coast vibe.
Wow what a great dining experience! The food is excellent, beautiful presentation and what can I say about the service! The employees are welcoming, courteous, fast service and are able to advise you on the choice of dishes if necessary. We highly recommend it during your visit to Prince Edward Island.
It doesn t get much better than the Blue Mussel. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, you feel immediately at home when you walk in. It has the best of both worlds, indoor and outdoor dining. The food is impeccably done by skilled chefs with a home cooked feel to every plate. There is something to say about the customer service- it s amazing. We came in with 5 adults, a toddler and a baby and were treated with kindness and grace albeit we were on the side of needing more attention than the rest. They gave us that attention and more. Plates were cleaned up promptly, recommendations were made when asked, dietary restrictions were adhered by. Thank you so much to our wonderful, delightful server Taylor and the wonderful lady( didn t get her name) who recommended the blueberry tarts and paid extra attention to our girl. Thanks for a wonderful last meal of our trip!!
My wife and I came here in 2019 and were blown away. This past week we took another trip there where we had Oysters and Mussels to start and a Scallop Linguini for main with a Caesar to drink. We booked our reservation online and were glad we did because it was busy for a Wednesday! Its an incredible experience from the waiting staff to the food. We love going there and hope to continue many years to come. Its our favourite place to eat in PEI. Highly recommended!
Everything is quite pricey!
Went on the waitlist at 630 waited until 755 pm to get seated for a table of 4 I requested for 7pm, on a Monday night. Food was ok definitely not the high ratings I saw before booking here. Out of the chicken dish one of our party wanted. Mashed potatoes cold and not garlic like menu said. Nice atmosphere but wont be back in a hurry after the 1hr 10 min drive one way. Waited 1hr to get in then another hour for main dishes after half the restaurant cleared out. Waitress confrontational with our friend who wanted chicken, not friendly like other parts of the island or even the restaurant next door. Should have gone there like last year.
Excellent seafood but very limited non-seafood choices. Fairly expensive but generous portions.
Long wait time but definitely recommend joining the online waitlist in advance of arrival. Outdoor food truck was a great option for drinks and food with no wait. Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options available. The linguine was great! Kid-friendliness: Great for kids
I had high hopes given the recommendations that the Blue Mussel Cafe received. It mostly lived up to the hype, getting out of Cavendish and into North Rustico is a much more authentic PEI experience for the many tourists that chose to. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and the food was pretty strong. Unfortunately our order didnt get punched in and we had to wait an hour plus between appetizer and main courses. These things happen and it was quite busy, but ultimately it was a little disappointing and we didnt event get offered anything reduced off our bill. Still happy we came by.
Stopped here for lunch on Monday after reading great review. Food was good but over priced. Small bowl of chowder with 3 mussels was $17. Main reason for the lower rating is we felt discriminated. This is the first time we felt discriminated being 5 years in Canada. We were asked if we want something to drink. We were served by multiple servers and felt they wanted us out sooner.
Delicious. Definitely a go to and stay for dessert. Yumm.
Seating area is beautiful at lunch time with sun light and nice breeze. Seafood Chowder is amazing with big chunks of seafood (the bowl is small). Mussels were disappointing for a restaurant named after mussels. Many of them very mushy and unopened, probably undercooked . Our waiter was very kind and brought a new one, but sadly it had the same problem. Mussels seems fresh but it could be a bad day. I would not order again as nothing special about the way it cooked and you can find fresh mussels anywhere in PEI. This place is highly rated. So I would come back for dinner and order different dishes to see if it is better than lunch.
The store is well decorated and the baked seafood is also delicious.
Magnificent place, typical for eating the best seafood dishes! Welcoming staff. Very nice experience! IT was awesome!
Had the side salad and scallops. Both were delicious but the best was the service provided by the staff. We engaged with no fewer than 5 people someone would walk by and grab an empty dish or glass, every time with a smile and light conversation. Never seen anything like this yet! The food and service and beautiful sunset excellent evening!
I love this restaurant but tonight after waiting two hours we were told the vegan Wellington was sold out and there were no other options for us. I m sure the kitchen could figure something out.
Service is great and the location is fantastic. The breaded haddock was over spiced to the point where I just removed the breading. The potatoes were also over spiced. Very weird spicing choices that didnt really work. Food : 3/5
Amazing experience! Food & staff were fantastic. Worth the 35 min drive from Charlottetown. We especially enjoyed Sam & Jules s hospitality! Thanks for a memorable visit! Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options including a delicious chocolate raspberry mousse cake.
This was the best restaurant I have been to in a long time! The food was incredible and fresh, especially the halibut tacos and the bruschetta. I also loved the Blue Cuban mocktail. The service was excellent too! The staff were friendly, and our desserts took a long time, but they gave them to us for free! Ill come back again next time Im in P.E.I.
