1426 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC V0N 1V3, Canada
Low-key place serving typical sushi rolls, noodle soups & Japanese mains such as teriyaki & tempura.
I visited this place by chance and was completely blown away by it. The food was incredibly tasty! Everything was fresh and nice, and the service was fast and very attentive. Definitely one of the best, if not THE best, restaurants I’ve been to in the Metro Vancouver area. I will definitely be coming back. Loved the chicken yakisoba!
Extremely fresh meals. Well prepared. Tempura batter is light and not soaked. The deep fried roll was so good and different from others I have tried. Great texture, flavor and filled me up. Lots of choices to choose from. Quick service and extremely polite. Will definitely be back to try other dishes! Thank you 🙏
I’ve been coming for 20 years. Never been disappointed. Fish is always fresh, great selection of traditional fare and more creative rolls. Run by Japanese people!
Good service and the items arrive quick. Presentation is great. The actual flavor is pretty good as well, just lacking something for the full 5 stars but I would be keen to return for another go
Quality of ingredients here are quite good, although I’m not sure if I would call it amazing. The grilled salmon belly is my favourite, as well as the toro. The soft shell grab tasted fresh, although a tad too salty for me and I quite enjoyed their rolls. I found that the sashimi slices were a bit thicker than I would’ve liked, but overall, quite yummy and I wouldn’t mind coming back. Service is good and the restaurant is clean and tidy.
I’m not sure if my experience is because I went to pick up only an hour before they closed. But for my meal I ordered no rice and extra veggies, I got a total of 1 broccoli, 2 pieces of red peppers and 1 carrot and a ton of bean sprouts. I genuinely was looking forward to eating vegetables and chicken. Not bean sprouts and chicken. I personally was expecting a lot more colorful vegetables. The chicken in my dish was decent. The other meal that we ordered, the chicken looked like it was breaded and soggy. I was very disappointed. I’ve attached pictures for reference. I couldn’t go back to the restaurant to fix the issue as they would’ve been closed by the time I drove back to them.
On a cool November evening we decided to focus on hot dishes at Hachi Hana. We ordered chicken yakisoba, spicy agedashi tofu, BBQ salmon cheeks and belly and the Hachi Hana sushi combo. The yakisoba came out sizzling hot; a fairly generous portion and quite tasty. And proper buckwheat soba noodles. The salmon was likewise a good portion. Would have been perfect if the skin was crunchier. Not much to say about the agedashi and sushi. The agedashi had just the right amount of broth so the tofu stayed nice and crisp. The sushi combo was fresh and good value. Service was attentive and polite. We were cheerfully greeted on entry, the server helpful about menu questions and tea was refilled promptly. Overall a very good experience and will return again.
The portions at this restaurant are extremely small and not worth the high price tag. If you’re hungry, I wouldn’t recommend dining here because you’ll likely leave unsatisfied. The food itself was relatively good, but it felt like we were paying more for the fancy presentation than the actual meal. For example, we paid around $50 for what you see in the picture, and we were still hungry when we left. To make matters worse, the service was rushed and unwelcoming. The waitress kept pushing us to leave because the restaurant was closing at 10, which came across as very rude. I understand needing to close on time, but it could have been handled more politely. Overall, while the food tasted decent, the small portions, high prices, and unfriendly service make it hard to recommend this place. There are far better options out there for the same price.
I ve been here 3 times in a week, this is by far the best sushi in North Vancouver. Huge portions and amazing quality for the price. Service is amazing, the staff are always so nice to us. P.S the salmon oshi sushi is a must - non negotiable.
The sushi was good and the takiyoka was also nice. I recommend to everyone Food
Bento lunch box is very good. Teriyaki chicken was best Ive had. Miso soup is too salty. Tempura very good, not greasy.
Very good sushi. Agetashi tofu is so crispy and so is the tempura. Service was great and we got the food quickly. It was not too loud. We will definitely come again :)
Sushi is very good. Everything comes out pretty quick and the service is always great. Probably one of the better sushi places in north Vancouver.
It wasnt very high-end sushi, but overall it was delicious. Small and cozy Japanese atmosphere.
Im Japanese and have lived in North Van for 5 years. Its more of a typical westernized sushi restaurant than a 100% authentic sushi restaurant, but its my favorite sushi restaurant in North Van. The tempura is crispy and delicious, and the fish is fresh and delicious. The size is small, same as in Japan, and the balance of sashimi and rice is excellent. The pork cutlet and fried chicken are at the level of an izakaya, but if you want to mainly eat sushi, I recommend Hachi Hana because the number of customers is good. is! (Shari is made by a trendy robot )
Mid afternoon, rice was bad and oshi sushi had too much sauce
This place is awesome. I got there right before it closed. I ordered and got my order very promptly. The food is great. I got the beef teriyaki roll. Very tasty and large. The service is excellent. I highly recommend Hachi Hana
Love it
Incredible, friendly staff. Made the experience delightful. Definetely will be coming back. Food was delicious :)
One of the Worst Japanese restaurant in GVA by far. Me and my wife ordered about 70 cad worth of food, and it came out worse than some random stir fry place. I don t get what s wrong with the ratings on North shore. There are so many better Japanese restaurants in downtown with much lower rating than this one. Atmosphere and service is ok but food is really mediocre.
Great service and amazing food. 10/10
Our favourite Sushi restaurant on the North Shore.
Always get the same thing. Love the yam avocado roll with soy sheet. Nice to have that option!
We were looking for the best place for a take out sushi in Vancouver, since we had to be with our dogs at the campground. From the order process to the appreciation of the delicious specialities, everything was perfect. A true Coup de coeur Food
Fantastic sushi, some of the best in the area and very fresh! I also really love their pork don, miso soup, and the occasional bento box.
Hi, used to think was a five star restaurant as this place has great food however, I recently had an experience that has stopped me from returning again....ordered a veggie ramen without any seaweed in it. I guess that someone forgot about that detail until after it was made. Was seated in a position that I could see into the kitchen. There was a young man working there who I assume was told to remove something from the bowl in front of him prior to it being served. So what I see is this guy trying to fish out stuff from this bowl with a spoon. That apparently didnt work so he stuck his dirty hands into the bowl to pick things out, and I knew his hands were dirty as I just had watched him use what I can only assume is a bacteria ridden dirty cleaning cloth that he had been using to wipe down counters and the sink area for who knows how long. So I tell my spouse that I think that is my food and that this kid had his dirty hands in it and guess what? It was my food. I told the server I wouldnt accept it and what I had seen happen. To their credit they offered to make me a new one however I must admit I really didnt want it. Figured I would just be brought same bowl of food but since I could see the finger bowl in the kitchen sitting on the counter I accepted. Heard them in the back asking the kid if he had done it and he at least admitted it and apologized to what I assume was the manager. Food came and it was ok but I am definitely turned off from the place. Only ate it because I didnt want my spouse to feel bad. You would think after that experience my food would have at least been removed from the bill but it was not which is also a factor of me not returning. That is poor customer service in my eyes not to mention just a plain gross thing to do to someones food, especially when we are paying a premium to eat out now. Hope you have better luck but look for a seat so you can see in the kitchen, unless you dont mind a different kind of finger food.
Favourite sushi. Been coming for 15 years when I visit Vancouver.
Great sushi, second time back in one week. Recommend!
Great place and fresh food
Hachi Hanas hands down the best place to get sushi on the North Shore. The owners, Jin & Catherine are always super welcoming. The wait staff and sushi chefs also provide amazing services. The food is fresh and top quality. These are just a few of the reasons why I keep going back for their sushi!
I had a very bad experience at this place. The owner was very rude when I questioned her about extra charges. The food is overpriced compared to most Japanese restaurants.
My dine in and take out experiences here have been very good. Very good quality food for reasonable prices. I think this place is usually busy so plan accordingly.
Really really good chopped scallop
Great selection of food, tasty, and great service. Will dine here again.
Food was excellent. Service was also incredible. Staff was super friendly and fish was very fresh. I would definitely come back
55 130lbs. After spending $50+, still very hungry. Small everything, hard to taste ingredients due to rice to ingredient ratio. Too much rice for how small other ingredients are. Tastes good otherwise, good quality. Not enough soy sauce
Love this place.
We have been eating a Hachi Hana for 10+ years, It is a solid sushi restaurant, spotlessly clean, and they always have very fresh fish. I would rank it in the top two on the North Shore. I reccomend the Oishi Sushi, BBQ Eel, and the Toro Sushi, The Sunimuno Salads are quite large (a medium sized bowl as opposed to small palm of your hand cup.
Amazing sushi, the best in Vancouver which is saying something! The staff is so nice as well :-)
My favourite sushi and the employees are incredibly nice!
Really healthy home-style Japanese cooking vibes. Definitely on the premium side but you get quality ingredients and great service.
Definitely the best sushi on the North Shore. Also the cleanest.
Good quality sushi probably the best around the lonsdale.
Sushi was great. Ingredients were fresh, and everything was assembled and plated well. The service was even better. Every staff member worked collaboratively, was attentive, and very pleasant. I never had to ask for anything to be taken away or refilled, and my food always came quickly. My only 2 gripes about this restaurant is that they have limited seating and their prices are probably 50% higher than most other sushi places.
Best sushi in North Van
very nice restaurant, staff was super nice and attentive. food was superb and fresh, highly recommend
The West Coast Roll is a party in your mouth.
This place was great! I wish they would give a lot of tea instead of just one cup. though. But other than that, great experience
I thinks it s the best sushi in Londsdale! The people there are so friendly and the food is very good. I love that place.
It is amazing.all the sushies are so fresh I always go there Thank you Recommended dishes California Roll
There s a lot of sushi options in Vancouver but that doesn t mean they re all good. This place was awesome. The rice was well seasoned, not overly sugary at all. The fish was all fresh and delicious (had the wild sockeye salmon ) and mind you I hardly ever eat raw fish because many places are gross! Both the veggie and fish I had was perfectly made! They also offer gluten free soy sauce! Thanks guys!
Best box c in town. Quality sushi you can count on, with great service.
During the Covid, we ordered the take out from this restaurant. It was amazing tasted. Since then, I have loved this restaurant.
My go-to Sunshi restaurant! Their raw fish is always fresh!! Their servers are always friendly as well!
We ordered the large party platter for a gathering and it was amazing! All of our guests loved it and asked where we ordered it from. The quality is exceptional. Hachi Hana is our favourite sushi restaurant by far and has been for many years.
Dont order the ramen noodles to go. They dont separate the noodles from the soup so the noodles are so soggy. Taste is otherwise adequate, but because of the soggy noodles it was a waste of money. Kids wont eat it. Now I have to make dinner on a night of not wanting to make dinner.
It was the best sushi I ever had. I really enjoyed it. I will be back again. Highly recommend it.
There is Tataki roll(17$) on the top and salmon avocado roll(7.5$) on the bottom. Why its the same size with difference of 10$? When i was eating in the restaurant last time they were really huge on the plate and tataki pieces on top of roll were bigger. The taste is heaven, but the portion really got me disappointed.
Delicious, fresh sushi! Family owned restaurant with outstanding customer service 10/10 recommend
Best sushi on the north shore. Always fresh. Always delicious. Service is great if dining in.
Not authentic and slightly overpriced. I got Korean donburi but the taste is far from what I expected. Staffs are all nice and kind.
Fresh ingredients, great quality, and friendly staff
Best sushi in North Van, music used to be better though
They need to improve on customer service: making slight alterations on regular items (I don t mean sets), seating area for those waiting for an order etc but their food is good. Their lunch box w chicken is one of the best I have ever got. The yakisoba would be better with a different noodle type. Food is good, customer service can be improved.
Yummy sushi very clean taste! I wish they had a separate vegan menu so it made it easier to order
When I tasted the very divine and special ramen, I ascended to heaven for a second and saw the gods including my dead ancestors. I told them how good the food was and how splendid it was, then I descended back down. It was like my heart stopped running for a minute because of this heavenly pure ramen. I love this restaurant a lot, so I ll give the rating a 5 star. I ll definitely come again with my best friend, Ube Roll Cookie!
We dined in. The food was delicious and fresh. The service was excellent.
Korean chirashi is the best!!!
Weve only ordered takeout from here, but weve had great food every time. My partner is celiac, and they go out of their way to label whats gluten-free. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten-free labels on their online ordering system.
Best sushi we ve ever had!
Best chicken teriyaki roll I ve ever had! Great vibe, kind staff and fresh ingredients. Would drive the 30-40 min to eat here again :)
Great sushi, nice cosy atmosphere. It is pricey though, with even basic vegetable maki starting at $5.
Food is delicious, great friendly staff. If you like sashimi, definitely try the chef s sashimi.
The staff and the owner are all fantastic! This is my familys favorite restaurant. Kid-friendliness: My kids have loved this place since they were little.
Food is ok but not impressive.
Very fresh! Amazing taste. Great service.
Fresh and delicious food!
Had high hopes for the Japanese restaurant . But very disappointed: the fish in the chirashi dish were blend, same thing goes for the miso soup, not to mention the plastic containers. There is a difference in definition between authentic and pretentious. It s plain insult to Japanese cuisine.
I should have bought shares in this restaurant we eat there so much. Always good. Great chefs. Kid-friendliness: My son learned to use chopsticks there.
Definitely the best sushi spot in all of Vancouver! I have had my fair share of sushi all over the US and Canada and nothing beats this spot! Freshest Sashimi you will ever get for the price!
Ordered the chicken katsu, kappa maki, California roll, and the chicken teriyaki roll. The portions are good and the food is incredible!!! Really friendly service.
Very good restaurant. Large selection, the food was very tasty and relatively inexpensive. Recommended
Brilliant service and yummy food!
Good~~
Cute, good quality
Friendly staff serving fresh tasting food. Not a lot of tables though. Many people do takeout. I really enjoy their Tuna Tataki, Salmon Carpaccio, Pacific Roll, and Bluefin Sashimi.
The dinner boat for two was just mediocre. Nothing special.
Best Sushi ever! I Highly recommend this place.
Been coming here since it opened many, many years ago. Easily the best place for authentic Japanese cuisine on Lonsdale. As far as I can remember, Hachi Hana was one of the first sushi restaurants to open on Lonsdale - there were many back then and there are many now. Competition is fierce and you can certainly find a less expensive experience elsewhere on Lonsdale - but this place serves the best quality sushi. A bit cramped for space - most restaurants have this issue on Lonsdale - and a little too pricey as an everyday work lunch place, but certainly worth treating yourself and others if authentic Japanese food is what youre after.
The food is ready good
I really love sushi but literally only hachi Hana s sushi that s the best. Good price and good service there also give u a kind of tea before your own food
fresh sushi and price is responsible . great quality
All super delicious, small quaint, caring staff!
Authentic and intimate with lots of variety. We were a large group with many orders. Prompt service and decent prices. Highly recommended.
Best Ramen ever! The noodles were delicious! Appetizers were delicious as well! We enjoyed it so much, we went back there for dinner the next night.
Excellent food, great service and warm atmosphere Parking: Free parking on the main and side streets Food : 5/5 |
recently moved to the area, and weve ordered takeout 3 times now. its been delicious and fresh on all occasions.
It was really delicious.. The sushi is on a different level from other places. They cut it so thickly that I definitely have to order sashimi!! I ordered a variety of dishes and none of them failed. It was so delicious.. Sushi is different from other places. They cut it really thick, so you have to order sashimi!! I ordered a variety, but there was no menu that failed.
Amazing. Some of the best spider rolls I have ever had!!!!! Great service and friendly!!!!
Wow!! Here is the best sushi that i have ever tried , an amazing service and also a gorgeous atmosphere. Thank you so much!
always Tasty and fresh best food thanks
Disappointment. It s been a long time since we ve been to Hachi Hana and maybe they were having a very off day. I picked up a take out order for my family. First off the chicken karage order costs 9.50 for 5 small pieces of soggy overly battered chicken. Then when my son bit into it, there was a chicken bone. All of the rice for the rolls were mushy and paste like. You cannot see individual grains anymore. The BC roll was inedible as the salmon skin was burnt. When my daughter ate a negitoro roll she was stabbed in the mouth with a fish bone. Fortunately the restaurant provided a full refund when packed everything up and brought it back to them.
The food is usually very delicious and flavorful. I dont eat there very often. Prefere to take out.
The food is great, its fresh and the workers at the sushi bar always greet you when you come in. And if youre a regular, they give you free complimentary
Kind and friendly staff. Food is yummy and tastes fresh
Delicious! Very high quality ingredients and great value. Maybe 50 cents extra but twice as good as other places. Salmon avocado rolls are the best I ve ever had. Very generous with salmon and avocado (while other places are mostly rice) and the salmon is wild sockeye - so tasty!
Excellent, I recommend it.
A good place for lunch. Sashimi is fresh, lunch set menu is good for value. I enjoyed my lunch here many times.
Thank you for the service
Authentic Japanese sushi with qulity service at reasonable price. Nice cozy environment for a casual meal with family and friends
Amazing food. Been coming here for almost a decade and never regret it. Super nice staff. Tasty food. The restaurant itself is very nice. 110% recommend it. Vegetarian options: Many veg options Parking: Parking is quite hard to find, but its free and its impossible not to find one but you have to circle around a few times or park a few streets to the left Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly
Good portions and a solid price, meat is tender and the flavor is great. Would recommend eating here.
Authentic Japanese restaurant in North Vancouver. Super recommended, excellent quality at a more than reasonable price. We will return!
Great friendly service with good standard Japanese food.
Amazing quality and service. Best sushi in town
Wow yummy food and friendly staff. Inside is cozy and cute, the outside doesnt look inviting but dont judge a book by its cover. I will be back for more.
Very good!
Almost five star. Had the lunch bentos. Portions were good, all fish cuts were great and generous. Very good quality. Good tempura. However... The rolls were not great. More like grocery store quality and didnt eat more than a few of them. However... That may be a one off and the rest of it made up for it. Still, this should be 4.5 stars. Ill give them another shot though.
My favorite place in vancouver cozy atmosphere, very yummy Food, friendly staff always makes me happy
A decent Japanese restaurant owned by Korean chefs. They were timely in reserving seats for us. However, the following were a bit disappointing: 1. After we were seated, we were promptly moved to another seating. We had to transfer over all relevant cutlerys and plates to our new location 2. The quality of Sashimi werent as fresh as other comparable sushi restaurants. Ton ton sushi by Cambie is quite better. 3. We had specifically ordered a negitoto Maki ($7/6 pc), but were initially charged with $21 (6 x negitoto sushi). The staff took 30+ min to rectify the situation. We may visit the restaurant in the future, as they seem to be picking things back up with new trainees.
Best sashimi in Vancouver :) and the sweetest servers and chefs
I ve been coming to this sushi place for the past 5 years and with no doubt it s the best in North Vancouver.
A good place to try Japanese food, excellent service. The price is I think according to the country
all time favourite , their sashimi and slices of fish is THICCKKKKKKKK
Excellent service, good price and food!
Had good memories of top quality sushi from here in the past, but stopped in for lunch last week and was quite disappointed. Sushi in bento box was unbelievably dry and almost tasteless. Spicy Tuna rolls tasted of the greens inside and were over-sauced. Have heard of coworkers similar disappointments here. Shame.
Delicious
Sushi was so delicious and fresh. The staff were very kind and generous with everything. Go here now!
Best sushi in the lower mainland!
Wonderful Japanese food from a truly lovely team. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, noodles, agadashi tofu and miso. It was all delicious, fresh and the sushi was beautifully presented. As others have mentioned, the staff are kind and courteous (especially the Japanese lady who is just so nice). Great portion sizes and I savoured the leftovers the next day. Would return here in a heart beat and one of the best Japanese meals weve had in a long time. Arigato gozaimas to the Hachi Hana team.
Great food, friendly and quick service. Very clean and always very attentive to your orders and needs. Even the kitchen staff greets you when you arrive. Such a great atmosphere. Thank you so much. Love going there.
This restaurant is great, I have been three times recently and they have all been great. The blue fin tuna is a stand out. I would recommend everything this place has to offer.
I love the quality of their food and their service.
Loved it. Very small place but full of an amazing vibe.
One of the best if not simply the best sushi and sashimi place in North Van. Price is also reasonble. The place is small but the Japanese server is super friendly and the chefs are Koreans. Still highly recommended.
Nice Sushi & Good Quality Sashimi. Will visit next time.
Best sushi experience on the North Shore. Period.
Very good sushi. I have take out and the special house roll I had was delicious. Definitely check them out.
Really good fresh sushi and tasty chicken karage. Enjoyed that the spicy roll sauce wasn t mayo based and had good flavor. Great service as well ! Very nice presentation of all dishes.
Was here in 2021. Was so good that I went back to my Google location history so that I could find it again and go again in 2022
Great customer service and great food!
Great little sushi place! Friendly and fast service. The stegasauras roll is a must try!
Super fresh sashimi
Extensive menu, with service being prompt and friendly. A friend had the Yam Salad Roll with no complaints - it came heaping with shredded yam on top and was more than ample for lunch! The Spinach and Chopped Scallop Rolls were tasty. The restaurant is a good neighborhood eatery for Japanese fare and has a makeshift patio, perfect for the summer!
Very polite staff.. amazing Veggie Ramen
best sushi I ve had in a while, really really good.
So many options for sushi rolls. Beautiful food layout and great quality. Great service.
Favorite Japanese
Love the Blue Fin Tuna here!!!
Everything was just excellent! Great service and delicious food.
The sashimi pieces are thick and heavy, absolutely worth the money. The staff is polite and very nice and everything is so delicate, be sure to come early or reserve because this spot is busy and lives up to its rating! Amazing!
Great sushi
Salmon Oshi!
Quality sushi & friendly happy staff
One of the few Japanese restaurants that closes later in the area. The staff are welcoming and nice. The chefs are incredible at making delicious sushi, especially the cones. It was an enjoyable visit. Arigato!
Oh my goodness! The food is so delicious! The Lonsdale Dinner Boat Special is enough for 3 people. It has raw sea food in it, just in case you don t eat raw meats. It s definitely a great deal for the assorted sashimi and nigiri sushi. The staff are friendly, food is served quickly, it s well presented. Bathrooms are clean too. Had to throw this in there.
Best sushi on the northshore. Fresh, beautifully presented and generous sashimi!
Good quality salmon in my sushi, taste was good and fresh too. However portions are a bit small for the price.
Some of the best sushi in the city. The uni was so flavourful. Same with the bluefin. Please get the real deal and avoid the sauced roles. The good stuff is there fresh.
Good sushi, check it out if youre in the neighborhood and walking around in the mood for some sushi and Japanese food!
Best Japanese restaurant in north Vancouver Friendly staff good food
Authentic sushi. Loved it. Friendly
Awesome food!
Fresh food, great service. Love the atmosphere. We ordered quite a big meal there: salad, nigiri sushi, sashimi, salmon oshi sushi, tempura, and more (not everything was pictured). Portion is decent and they all taste good. Servers frequently see if you need to refill tea, which is a good thing as we love drinking tea. Thank you for the service!
Great food, good price and amazing customer service! I went with my mom to pick up food and Yuka offered us a table to sit and hot tea. Very gentle and comforting. You dont get such great treatment in other places.
It was very good, we personally loved it, but if you are planning on going there be ready to pay a pricey amount, but the fish is super fresh and the sushi did taste amazing. We got 2 of the special rolls and 6 pieces nigiris, seaweed salad and miso soup. It almost came up to 100$, but it was definitely worth it for us because it was a really special anniversary dinner date for us. We personally loved the sushi. Earing the lime on the sushi was strange but in a very good way it was a nice new discovery for my taste buds .
Quality sushi at a fair price.
Taste wasnt as good as others I have been to
Hell yes. Go here
Amazing quality!
me and bf try to go when we can but today my bf brought it home this afternoon. I wasnt expecting it, and it was so good. my favourite was the Dynamite Rolls - absolutely DELISCIOUS! EDIT: I forgot to mention how courteous AND efficient the ENTIRE staff is each and every time we have been there, and we look forward to dining in next time Parking: if youre sharp, you can still find free parking in North Vancouver. keep your eyes open for people. Kid-friendliness: the food doesnt take long after youve ordered to come Wheelchair accessibility: most of the restaurants on Lonsdale Avenue where this restaurant is, IS ABSOLUTELY wheelCHAIR friendly. this restaurant is available in our beautiful North Vancouver city
Excellent! Go there often. Great food, great service and great value.
One word AWESOME!
I have been eating here for over 16years. It never disappoints. Amazing service, food and ambiance. I will Hachi Hana again!
Great sushi
