The Tomahawk restaurant has a rich history on the North shore since 1926. Its diner feel has many coming for the huge portions of home cooked meals . Breakfast, lunch and dinner options available . Come in and see our rich native art displayed throughout the restaurant, truly a wonder to see!
Had New York Steak Dinner. Perfect 10oz. If you go to other restaurants, it’s unlikely to get this portion at this price. Very reasonable price. Appreciate it. 10oz steak with mashed potato and sautéed vegetables definitely make a full stomach. Very satisfied.
Classic setting and menu. Had a good breakfast here. Nice touch with mint in the water! And of course the decor is steeped in nostalgia and history.
I used to come here as a little kid, more than 45 years ago, and stepping inside now feels like flipping through an old photo album. The room? Just the same as I remember it, frozen in time. The Reuben? Toasty, warm, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave when you want to relive the good old days. On those rainy days, the Tomahawk’s your cozy refuge. Slip into a booth or pull up a bar stool, and let the simple, hearty cooking take you back to simpler times.
Wow ! I almost met my match as a ' clean your plate ' generation dude, baby boomer ! I had the mixed platter. And ok, when you see a pic of what you order, it normally looks bigger than what you get BUT this breakfast was HUGE, GIGANTIC...but, I'm still undefeated, finished it. Food quality EXCELLENT, Environment inside great, service very very good. Son, had the steak breakfast combo, Wow!
Perfect experience! I ordered Hot-Outta-The-Pan from breakfast menu and that was amazing. Delicious food🤤 perfect service, and very nice staff😍. I enjoyed everything. It has always been my choice.
This restaurant has been operating by the same family for 98 years, quite something. The place is decorated with native carvings etc on the walls and ceiling. They even have a free cardboard headband which looks like a native Indian headress. When I was a kid they were made of real feathers really cool. We would play with them for weeks until they fell apart. Now about the food everyone gets a large bottle on their table with mint leaves after you are seated. Their yukon breakfast features many slices of back bacon and delicious cube potatoes and free run eggs. My favourite dish is the Salisbury steak with creamy mashed potatoes with tasty gravy and eldente mixed vegetables, my mouth waters everytime I think of this organic Salisbury steak. It's the best Salisbury steak I have ever tasted and I've tried many but this is the best!!! Their burgers are also very good!! All the food is very tasty as well as their desserts, lemon meringue pie, etc
Beautiful old building with wood trusses supporting the ceiling. It was a Jahovah Witness lodge before becoming a restaurant. They serve breakfast all day, and their omelets were terrific. The staff was very friendly. Bathrooms were clean, as was the restaurant. It is a very popular spot. The outside only shows the street number, 1540 aside from the two totem poles. We drove past it. It is like a museum with hundreds of native West Coast indigenous objects hanging from the support beams and along the bar. The two paddles in the picture, on the top, are over 80 years old.
I hadn't been here in at least 7 years. What an improvement! Better and tastier food. We dined in for lunch & shared the Organic Turkey Clubhouse and organic Simon Baker burger with fries. Food: 5/5 - fantastic prices considering you're getting organic beef and turkey. They even offer a couple of lunch specials ranging from $15 to $20. They also offer dinner specials at $35 on Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays. If you like burgers, this is a must order. Food came out hot and was fresh. Good selection of breakfast and lunch items. Service: 5/5 - friendly server who came to our table a few times asking if we needed anything Atmosphere: 5/5 - great ambiance. You feel like you're in a museum of beautiful Indigenous art & baskets. Nice vibe to the place. Lots of history here. Parking: 5/5 - parking in front of the building or on the street We'll be back for the dinner! Note: they are closed on Mondays. Hours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: 9 am to 8 pm and Tues and Wednesday: 9 am - 4 pm.
Its just a pleasant moment when youre spending your time in such a warm, cozy local restaurant and enjoying ordering any kind of food that you d like from its exciting menu. It will be more exciting when you find out that you are hosting in a 98 years old restaurant ... highly recommend it....
i used to order here from work all the time. Quality was amazing. Something obviously changed... twice in a row i tried ordering, bad quality and no regard for the actually order or the notes. disapointing all around. probably wont order from here again tbh.
Always like this kitschy place indigenous theme diner apparently opened since 1926. Good diner food, hardy breakfast and staples like meatloaf and roasted turkey dinner. A must try place for all foodie. Just a heads up that although the place is clean it is older and does require some deep cleaning as its filled with memorabilia. The forced air heating definitely needs service as it smell of mustiness.
This is a great little restaurant in the North end. The portions and the pricing were great! I highly recommend this place and will return when Im back in the neighborhood.
Have lived on the north shore for 25 years and thought we d give this place a try for lunch today. Big Mistake! Waited over 5 minutes for the owner to acknowledge us and then point at a table for us to sit at where everyone was jammed into one section of the restaurant. The atmosphere is tired, dark and gloomy and cluttered with junk and there appeared to be only one waitress working. We were about to leave when she finally arrived to take our order. The sandwiches were tasty but served on small plates with a very small portion of fries. I asked for multigrain bread but got white. The ketchup bottle is reused, refilled and the inside of the cap was nasty and blackened with old ketchup. I couldn t get out of this place fast enough.
Best yukon style bacon in da house, most recommended to try.
Legendary for all the right reasons
No change in place for many decades.
Cool place with lots of history. We had the steak and mushroom pie and it was delicious.
I went here for a birthday brunch and i ordered the burger and fries which tasted very mediocre. I am not a fan of fries with a battered texture. I usually don t go to diners because eating out is very expensive these days. Also I went with my friend s family and the tables are really close together which feels claustrophobic. The only part of the restaurant that I liked was the indigenous decorations and the fact that it is one of the oldest operating restaurants in the Vancouver Area.
What a great place for breakfast! The food was fantastic, bacon delish. Service was so friendly, I really enjoyed it. Will be back next time Im over.
Visited today, return customer. Always amazing food, Skookum Chief is a filling meal, contemplated the classic eggs Benny (my personal favorite). Service with a smile, food tasty with a very generous portion. Atmosphere feels like home, especially when Mr Chamberlain personally thanks you with sincerity and a handshake for sharing your time at the Tomahawk Restaurant. The house hot sauce is amazing and deserves a place in your fridge, available for purchase
It was my first time visiting this legendary & historic restaurant. Such a magical place. The decor was quite pleasing to the eyes. I went with a gentleman whos been going there for nearly 50 years, and another whos gone a number of times in recent years. It was a bonus to be there with someone whod been going there since childhood. He had some stories to tell about his many past visits. I had the hearty Skookum Chief burger with fries, and it was super delicious and quite filling. The coffee was really good too. I was so full after the visit. Had to pick up a souvenir rubber ducky on my way out. Ill definitely be going back there. Highly recommended.
Well I wasnt blown away by the quality of the food it was definitely good and well priced You feel like you get what you pay for All in all good spot for an affordable breakfast
Great basic menu. Burgers, sandwiches and great breakfasts.
Just finished the turkey dinner! Best I ve ever eaten!! Having blueberry pie almode now!! Food
Had a great meal at a North Shore classic.
Loved decor food fab Parking: To de side n back Food : 5/5 |
Excellent food and excellent service. This place exceeded my expectations. We will go back for sure!
Good quality food at fair prices.
Breakfast was so good I came back for dinner Both meals were excellent Food
The food was fantastic! I felt a little rushed to leave after eating, though. There was a lineup waiting for tables
Came here after reading really good reviews. Both ordered the breakfast bowl. A very meh, and pretty disappointing experience all in all. The service was without smile and the food was average. The value, quality, and service we have had elsewhere has been far better. Wont be returning. Sorry.
Great vibes and atmosphere. Always busy because it s so popular but the food is amazing as well. Lots of selection options for breakfast and lunch.
Thank you delicious food
We have been coming to Tomahawk for many years (once or twice a year). This last visit, we felt the overall experience was not as good as before and the fact that there was no line up, as there has been before, explained how we felt about it: -Service was not as attentive -Coffee is now limited to one refill only -I ordered the Yukon Breakfast and bacon was cold and Toasts were a bit limp. -On the positive side, prices are still reasonable. We might give it one more try, in case this recent experience was a one-off. It is an establishment on the North Shore so hopefully ownership will take note and address concerns raised by their customers, so that it will be around and flourishing for many more years.
Ordered food from out side the restaurant gave are phone number and where given a estimated time it might be ready waited tell the estimated time never received a call back even stayed well after the estimated time never received a call back was a waste of time do not recommend .
If you come to North Vancouver you gotta visit this lovely restaurant, you can feel the vibes of the town 100% price, food and service everything is good thanks for the experience
I highly recommend this address for meat lovers who want to treat themselves. Certainly the prices are higher than the competition but the quality is really present on the plate and the products are really high quality. The meats really have a lot of flavor as well as all the accompaniments. Everything is of course halal. The service is warm and friendly. Nothing to say, go for it!
Finally went after hearing about this place for years. I understand that it used to be a great place with good service and food. The decor is still quite interesting and novel. But on to the actual experience at 9:15 AM. The service was ridiculously slow; the food was cold; the coffee was bitter. I complained about the coffee and was told there are two kinds of coffee. Do I want the other kind? What the hell? There were 4 occupied tables so the dour waitress was not overrun with customers. To sum up, it was possibly the second or third worst restaurant experience Ive had in 25 years in Vancouver. And the older gentleman, either a host or a manager sitting at the counter by the entrance who of course got his food most assuredly did not add to the ambience and atmosphere of the has been restaurant.
The food and portions are awsome
Quaint, cozy comfort food. Had the Yukon breakfast and the beef dip.
Delish food with a cool native vibe. Great service as well.
The ambiance of the restaurant is great and the food is good. The waitresses are very nice.
Ive been an occasional visitor all of my adult life. Ive never had a bad meal here. Because of the decor it is a terrific place to bring out of town friends. Love the history. When I worked nearby I would come for breakfast often. At other times I would almost always order the Skookum Chief burger and encourage my guests to try it also. Its definitely a mouthful! Check their hours before visiting. I read a few years ago that they were having staffing problems, which is a shame because this is absolutely a one of a kind spot.
Better than I expected. Happy that I went here for breakfast and will return Parking: Several spots right off the street Food : 5/5 |
Tomahawk originally started in 1926 making it the oldest restaurant in Vancouver . Generously portions and great atmosphere make this one of my favorites.
We love this place. I have been coming here since my parents started bringing me when I was a kid. Great service and food and always buy a bottle of their hot sauce before I leave!
Although the restaurant was a little crowded and dark to me, I loved the food. The quality was fantastic as was the quantity. The service was really friendly too!
The restaurant is an absolute insider tip. The food and the ambience were great. Everything was freshly cooked and the price-performance ratio was unbeatable. I can only warmly recommend the restaurant.
A jewel on the North Shore that has been with us for almost 100 years.
You should go. It was fun and the food was worth it. Basic but unique. I m still dreaming of the hot sauce. Coffee was great.
Everything about this place was great! Super friendly staff and really good food. We both had the Yukon Style Bacon & Eggs and my eggs were perfect.
Amazing food with very large portions. Highly recommend!
Good breakfast at a popular restaurant.
A North Shore GEM that must be seen and experienced! As someone who grew up just a few blocks away, I had tried the food a number of times when my mom would go, but for whatever reason... I had never been inside until this year! The food has always been incredible, but Im shocked it took me so long to fully appreciate the love and care taken to build the Tomahawk. A tribute to local indigenous culture, and countless totems lining the walls, its a really wonderful local eatery. We had great service, with mint water, which was so refreshing! I got the Breakfast Bowl and my dad got an omelet. Highly recommend both! But Dad mentioned the veggies werent super cooked, which he liked, but I would let them know if you like your veggies fried. Ill be back for more very soon.
Great service and wonderful food priced well - been a client for over 40 years enjoying the Yukon Breakfast.
First time here had the crab benny,$15 on special,it didn t disappoint, very tasty and a copious amount of crab! A very interesting place to eat, lots of character and wonderful carvings adorning the walls,it has a very cosy homely feel,I will be back! Food
Enjoy Canadian cuisine! Recommended for tourists Order a course meal, ¥5,000/person including tip. It was a very satisfying meal
Very accommodating to our group of six adults and 1 child. Large breakfast plates and our toddler ate her entire breakfast.
cowboys
Everything I ve tried here for breakfast has been (consistently) fantastic!
Great restaurant, been there for years, good food, no liquor.
Tomahawk your Skookum chef burger is super huge filled with goodness once in a while treat. It really satisfied the burger crave.
A favorite place to eat for many years on the North Shore. Good food with generous portions and a unique atmosphere.
We were at the aquarium and found this place on Google maps by pure luck. After a quick drive from the aquarium we found this beautiful place. The decoration is amazing, the food is delicious and the service so friendly! If you re visiting Vancouver you should not miss a quick lunch in this amazing place! We tried Burgers and Meat Loaf, and we loved them! Thank you guys!!!
What a gem of a place, we found it on our last night of the holiday as we were staying near Grouse Mountain. What an amazing place - food was amazing and the hosts and manager were wonderful. Hopefully one day we will be back!
Fun to visit this place again and things haven t changed much! Good food, friendly service! Tasty coffee and flavouful eggs!
Huge portions, good selection of food. A must do for North Vancouver restaurants.
A real classic in North Vancouver. While a lot of other restaurants shrinking their portions, here you still get good value and excellent food.
Boring atmosphere and really terrible food, one of the worst meals weve ever had anywhere. Dont bother going to this awful place.
Ive been going here for over 50 years and its never disappointed. Wonderful breakfast and pleasant service.
I was there waiting for friend didn t let me seat and order all tables empty and she told me I have to have my friend to be there in order to seat With very bad attitude not exactable . Food
My wife has good memories of coming here as a child with her family, about 60 years ago, so it has been in business a long time. I find the food pretty average, and would only stop in if in the area. I wouldnt consider it a destination restaurant, but I dont have the childhood memories my wife has. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome. The decor may interest them. Wheelchair accessibility: Flat entryway
Food is good. I like the decoration.
Great service, nice atmosphere.
Coffee was horrible. Ordered bacon, cheese mushrooms omelet. Was paper thin not fluffy so disappointed. Been a few years since I was last there. Better breakfast places so probably will not go back for breakfast. No Sourdough or rye bread options. Friend ordered apple pie after but said wasnt sweet enough. Cherry pie filling was not sweet but was perfect as most overly sweet. Will try dinner next time as there are supposed to be good choices recommended for dinner.
This is an amazing independent restaurant that I have been to a few times over my life of growing up in Burnaby. Sometimes we made a special trip to come here. The food is still incredible! I had a Chicken Thai soup and half a burger.
Legendary location here. Been around for years. Bryan Adams washed dishes here when he was a teen. Good food, clean, friendly service.
Super Healthy Manager
Such a pleasant experience in a (somewhat) hidden gem! Unsure of why it s not more well known/lack of signage.. but very glad it s been able to thrive for 98 years. Impressive! Love the history and energy that emits from this sacred place. It provides everything that Vancouver is lacking from the restaurant industry. The food is top notch home cooking. Non pretentious and fair pricing, service is very warm and approachable. They really make you feel at home and welcome regardless of status. I cannot wait to revisit and have been sharing with many friends/locals who also look forward to trying this wonderful eclectic diner! Keep smiling!
Food was good but my fries were cold a bit we traveled an hour to eat there and I had the fish and chips the server was great but she couldve warned us that my fish was boiling hot because my girlfriend took a bite and the hot oil burned her lip pretty bad but overall the food was amazing and we had a good time but the only thing was the fish my gf got burned from the fish and my fries were a bit cold
Great food with generous portions, happy and friendly staff.
Amazing place for breakfast, delicious and memorable
Tomahawk is da bomb!
Home cooking at its finest!! And I didnt have to cook it Thankyou Food
Absolutely love the burgers and shakes at this place! Fair prices, friendly service and fresh, delicious food guaranteed. The artwork is beyond incredible and I never run out of things to look at or notice. So much history and charm.
Really enjoy the brunch at this place! This place has a really nice vibe to it. Only thing missing is a liquor license.
Food could have been hot. But we enjoyed the American diner type fare. Filling, satisfying, ...and happiness resulted
Delicious!
So glad we came here! The food was soooo good. I was craving buttermilk pancakes and they delived. A satisfying portion was served.
An amazing little restaurant. It has such a charm about it (considering these guys have been around almost 100 years!) and the price is right. Theres something for everyone on the menu. Plus good service and lots of free parking. Recommended all around.
Good and authentic food. Like the ambiance and banana pie
We found this little gem by accident looking for somewhere close on Google maps. The food was delicious and great portion sizes. The restaurant itself was kind of dark and small, but the service was food. Good value. Parking: Parking lot is out front. There are not a lot of stalls available, but we didnt have any issues finding a spot.
Well over priced below average food!
An outstanding restaurant all around! Best Ive ever been to on the North Shore. We went for lunch and I ordered their all day breakfast Yukon bacon eggs dish (thrilled they didnt have a time limit on their breakfast dishes!). The meats are so flavourful and their eggs were poached to perfection. The potatoes were super golden and crisp and were such a treat. The coffee on the side was also really good and fresh. I loved the atmosphere and all the art and photos on the walls, showing the history of North Van. Really beautiful decor, both inside and outside. And excellent service! I cant wait to go back Parking: Spacious and secure free parking lot at side Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly lobby Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs and flat/smooth pathway to entrance
Food and atmosphere were amazing. Pity the server was was so miserable and snotty!! Will be back though
Who doesnt love a great diner? This is one of the best! Snag a bar stool or a table (there will likely be a wait at peak times on weekends) and settle in for a breakfast that will last you all day. Being my first time I had to opt for the Yukon Style Bacon & Eggs. Perfectly cooked, delicious but a load of food so order accordingly! Next time itll be eggs benedict and a slice of homemade pie to go! Service was great. Buzzy, diner atmosphere. What else could you want? Mint in your water bottle? Sure!!! Absolutely legendary.
The Beeeest & the juiciest Steak ever
Legendary breakfast. Best Canadian bacon in existence
Great food and atmosphere!
I loved the place, the service was very good, the people were very friendly and the food was delicious, especially the cuts of meat.
Some things change, some things dont. We took our children to the Tomahawk Restaurant years ago and today we took two grandchildren. It seems that little had changed, from the menu to the amusing paper placemats. Someone said, If it aint broke, dont fix it. One thing that might have been added to is the huge collection of Indigenous artifacts. Expect comfort foods, not haute cuisine. In these days of high restaurant prices, Tomahawk meals are reasonably priced. Service tonight was faultless.
Great old school restaurant with home cooked meals and pie that will leave you satisfied and happy. My favorite is the mixed grill breakfast with the most bacon I have ever seen on one plate it has eggs, yukon style bacon, hot dog cut-up beef patty, hashbrowns, mushrooms Sharp cheddar onion lettuce tomato I guess so you can make a sandwich all for only 23 dollars lets not forget about the roast beef and turkey dinner plus beef burgers but my favorite is the nice selection of house made pie . Parking: There are many spots in front if not there is street parking and just down the street at a strip mall also
Came for dinner this time and it did not disappoint, the steak and mushroom pie was phenomenal. We thought the beef and mushroom steak soup would be like the pie but it was completely different, definitely out favourites.
Tomahawk Restaurant - the oldest family run restaurant in BC. Seriously, this is something special, just go. The best part of a great restaurant will always be the food, but come for a restaurants ambience. The local Skwxwú7mesh artwork is amazing and have some great food too. I ordered the Chief Simon Baker Burger Organic ground beef patty, Yukon-style bacon, sautéed sliced fresh mushrooms and aged cheddar cheese. It s the best burger that I ve had in a long, long time. Even on the drive home I was contemplating going back and getting another burger but I was too full. I will be back soon. Note: The breakfast looks fantastic too.
I cant remember when Ive had a better burger, everything else is going to be compared to Tomahawk. I saw Tomahawk advertised on Facebook and mentioned it to a friend, after a month and a half we finally got there. Saturday at lunch hour, small wait they cycle people in and out without them feeling hurried. Ordered and lunch was served in a timely manner. Portions were great, the quality is 2nd to none, staff polite and professional and the place oozes history. I hear its the longest serving restaurant in the lower mainland(1926). Its certainly not going to be another month before they see me again. BTW not that it should be a concern but youre not going to break the bank having a meal there. I wish them all the success there is. I hope theyre around for generations to come.
Lovely dinner with homely vibe.
This place is incredible! The food is delicious and the ambiance is very special. I recommend reading the history of the restaurant before going so that you can better appreciate every piece of history displayed in the room. Amazing place for locals and out-of-town visitors!
I do not recommend. The management has really let their customer service go. All the way from dirty cups and utensils to a general disrespect for their long term customers. It s unfortunate. I have been going there since 1968, but have now stopped because of the malaise of the manager. In all fairness, nobody needs to go to a restaurant to be treated poorly, especially after having supported their business for over 50 years.
Food was nothing special, service was pretentious, but the atmosphere was great.
Arrived early to get a table for 4 Policy said I had to wait till Whole party is there. First time ever had that happen. Anytime or Anywhere. Congratulations Food
Good food good value and very nice stuff. You need to stop by when youre in North Vancouver.
My French Toast was soggy but the bacon was great.
Been going to this restaurant for 25 years. Rustic feel.. I don t mind the older feel of it all, as it s always clean and put together. Bathrooms are old but always clean! It feels very home like. I love supporting smaller and original businesses, especially one where I have always been treated with kindness, DELICIOUS food every single visit, and memories galore. The owner is almost always there, open to chatting with anyone! We have learned a lot about the history of the restaurant, their family, and north van! I will continue to go, even though I live an hour away now! Thank you for everything!
Tomahawk Restaurant is fantastic!! Every time Ive been here the food is delicious and they use the best quality ingredients. The restaurant has an abundance of art, the service is great and prices are really reasonable. Chuck and the team really care about every person who visits and the meals they serve.
Well do I have a story for you. My friend and I walk in here, tripping and cold. We are sat down in a dark corner. Santa Claus to our right, we got on with it. Looking down we found a map, the highlight of this visit. We ordered strawberry milkshakes that were just heavenly. But oh lord were the sounds loud. You could hear it in your bones. I myself ordered what was perhaps the best grilled cheese ever. While eating, we found that their hot sauce was rather mild. Anyhow, wagwan crodie
Picked because You Gotta Eat Here sure good food but the waitress didn t greet us say anything or smile hey K receipt says keep smiling
The food was ok, but the waitress was not really happy to help us!!! They do not serve alcohol. The decoration is really nice and belongs to indigibouse community . Food
A great long time nostalgic institution....Had to have the Mixed Grill !!! Awesome!!
Very enjoyable time in period setting.
Delicious breakfasts.
We went here for dinner, and it was a fantastic experience! Really good food and pie for good prices as well. There was even a little gift store, and the guy running it was so kind! Come check it out, you wont be disappointed!
Everything was delicious, food arrived so quickly, all staff was friendly and helpful! Their pie was incredible! Home away from home!! I will be back! They have vegetarian options as well, my daughter said the grilled cheese sandwich was the best shes ever had. Theres even a cute store with goodies, duckies and very cool swag! All round good experience! Homemade banana cream pie so amazing!
Vegetarian options: They had lots of vegetarian friendly options for people. Parking: Tons of free available, easy access parking! Food : 5/5 |
Consistent Quality.
Delicious food at reasonable prices. Everything seemed to be homemade. We will definitely come again. I had the turkey dinner and family member had the roast beef dinner! Highly recommend.
Very nice! well served food. delicious. familiar place.
Excellent
Cool spot!
I love the environment and it s energy and lovely food Excellent
Not on the main drag, but worth finding...
We loved the atmosphere and food here so much. Service is great and fast. We ordered beef dip and the burger, which tasted great. However, the apple pie that we ordered as a dessert came out cold even though we ordered hot and there was a dead fly on it. Overall it was a great experience and we would go back for food.
Very good breakfast, It was awesome .
wouldn t go back
The host was great! Brought us coffee while we waited for the restaurant to open.
This restaurant is delicious, hot and fresh food, my favorite dish is steak and mushrooms pie, one of the best pies I have ever eaten, this pie is rated as one of the best by the tv show Drive dinning and Dave s I love it so much . easy parking, impeccable service. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes good for everyone
Huge portions. Awesome food
Went for breakfast on Sunday. Got there at 850am and a few people were in line already. You wont be seated until your entire party arrives so be sure to have everyone arrive on time. Come here hungry as portions were huge. Mixed grill came on a massive plate. Service was courteous and atmosphere was fun.
Awesome
Food is good. Service is a bit chilly but pretty quick. Portions are large.
This has been my favorite restaurant since 1963.
I have been going to this place for a few decades now. The atmosphere has remained the same over the years. Expect a busy environment, but the food is solid and filling. Lots of options
I have been coming here for 45 years. The quality and consistency is outstanding. The bacon, the Benny s , the burgers, the beef dip and of course the pie.
Really nice food
Me and my boyfriend went there this morning for the first time in about 20 years... Considering that, I was pretty excited to try it out, given the good reviews. Ill start by saying that the food was decent, big portions (if thats what youre looking for). Service was so so, it took a long time to be asked if we needed anything else and we were never asked if we wanted a coffee refills (we had to track them down). I asked for medium poached and got very soft-poached instead, with very wet whites. Now for the main thing, when my plate arrived, the server accidentally dumped one of the eggs bennies on my lap, with the egg landing in my hand. I had hollandaise all over my dress and I burned my hand from the egg landing right in my hand. She was apologetic, gave me some napkins and replaced my egg. However, that was it. I thought wed get a were sorry about that, we took your eggs off the bill or gave you a discount, is your hand okay (it hurt for a bit) at the end, etc etc. Literally nothing. Ive never had food dumped in my lap before or on my skin and while I totally get that was an accident, I think they could have handled it way better.
Visiting from Texas, found a great local restaurant to visit during our quick trip here!
Comfort food and at home feel...always
A north shore institution, come for thr Yukon bacon, you wont be disappointed!
I was sitting there with my husband for 20 min to have a table but the owner didn t want to give us any spot! He was so rude and he had attitude. I don t know what was wrong with him but I m not gonna go there any more and i hate this restaurant .
The food was really good. We had the roast beef dinner, New York steak, and lasagna and all were really good. I was a little concerned because there was no one there when we parked so I thought maybe they were closed but they were open and a few more people came while we were eating.
Very unique and interesting place.. great burger and onion rings..
Great food and service. Dont leave without trying their pie. Loved the native art and carvings. The tables are a bit closer than Im used to so it basically everyone listening in on everyones conversations but worth a trip.
This place is Amazing Please take the time to go And see for yourself how wonderful And the food is amazing The people who work there are amazing also. Food : 5/5
Home cooked food extraordinaire.
Food here is awesome. Great place to start a day with breakfast. Yukon style bacon is a must try. Never miss this place if you come to Vancouver its worth it.
We were excited since it s been around forever and our local group of five had never been so we were willing to wait for our table. We were having a pleasant breakfast but our server literally said to us after our quick breakfast I don t want to rush you but there is another group waiting when we were finishing up our coffee and water when some of us went to use the washroom. This was after we tipped well and after no one came around to refill coffee and I had to ask twice (two different servers) for coffee to get a single refill (not multiple ones in our breakfast). Had the refill happened reasonably quickly then it wouldn t have even taken more time to finish the cup. AND our group waited about half an hour to get our table and we were quite fast and a very polite and straightforward group. When we got to the front after being rushed, it wasn t even busy anymore! How does she expect us to ever want to return getting that treatment? Of course you re rushing us by saying that. She can ask herself if she would have said that to a bunch of white men trying to finish their coffee at the end of their meal? Unfortunately, she waited until after we tipped well to be rude. It may be that the other servers are not like her though. Let s hope. But it left a bitter taste in our mouths. (Klara)
The breakfast food portions are large. Try to get a table closer to the kitchen. If you sit too close to the lobby area, you can smell the bathroom area every time someone passes by.
What a nice surprise! Generous plate! Great service, great decor from another era!
Great restaurant
Look-wise, unchanging through several decades... But a note of caution: At our last visit, they charged us $9.30 for doing the following substitution on both of our meals: Skip toast & hash browns - instead add some tomato slices. The food was fine and good, but nine dollars and thirty cents (without warning from the server as she took our order), thats ridiculous.
This is a historic restaurant in Vancouver. Check the website good good food fabulous atmosphere.
This place is old school and has great vibes! If you re looking to see a restaurant that s been around for over 100+ years, this is it!
I had straight out of the pan (Steak n Eggs) tte steak was a nice size the portion of food was plenty for me. Must stop for breakfast lots of native art on display and purchase
I enjoy every visit, the food is great as is the service. The interior is a wonder to look at all the indigenous artifacts. Chuck and Chuck Jr are terrific hosts.
Store information Canadian restaurant Can be reached by bus from downtown and close to the bus stop The store is spacious and has counter seats, so its easy to come by even if youre alone. There is also a shop Clean restroom available Wi-Fi available Cafe information Yukon style Bacon &Eggs $18.85 I came here because I wanted to eat Canadian food! Canada has restaurants from many different countries, and on the other hand, you dont really see Canadian food, so it was rare! This dish seems to be a famous menu at the restaurant! The bacon was round, big, salty and delicious You can choose how you want your eggs fried, and you can choose whether you want the bread to be brown or white. The inside of the store had traditional Canadian items, so I felt like I was able to taste the original Canadian food, which was great! It was well worth the trip! *I took a photo of the meal, but for some reason I couldnt post it.
Delicious food, good portions, excellent service, friendly wait staff, delightful atmosphere!
I drive from Coquitlam to North Vancouver 2x a month on Saturdays to enjoy my Yukon Breakfast, and its the best! Go there right at opening, or else wait in line for awhile! Staff is awesome too!
They are going push u take it extra food, or they begging charge you for one person. We were 2 with one kid, but we ordered 2 food, and they said we were going to charge for a kid ! It was a long time since we were going there, but we never went back . Customer service was very rude. We had very good moments for many years but really Im shocked. We left resturant forever.
The food is great. The decor is amazing. Perfect for a brunch or a simple burger. The banana cream pie is to die for
Love a good comfort food breakfast the tomahawk is your place! Cool and interesting decor and art work everywhere you look. The service was pretty good. I think our server was shy because she didnt talk much beyond our order. But she was efficient. The food was good. Large portions. Classic Canadian Comfort Food.
Not vegan nor vegetarian friendly. Booooo
Have come here my entire life. Comfort Food is awesome . Pies are out of this world! Love the eclectic atmosphere. Would have given 5 stars, but tonight in an absolutely empty restaurant they charged an extra $5 because my kids were splitting a $23 meal instead of buying a $9.75 kids meal. I asked if we could just purchase a pie instead and was told no. It has to be an entre. So silly. Kid-friendliness: Great kids menu, but no breakfast option.
What a great dinner or lunch was super awesome thanks for the steak. And my favorite hamburger chef Simon baker burger for my girl.
A beautiful and quiet place, you have a delicious breakfast
Atmoshere was unique, but the quality of food is was really low. Price is resonable. Patty hamburgar, bacon and susage were so low quality. We tried once and that was enough for us. Food
Best find ever! Thank you for such a lovely experience!
We dropped in for dinner with another couple. There were a few tables occupied but it wasn t too busy. I ordered a Reuben Sandwich with fries. The combination of the corned beef, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut was amazing. The fries were crunchy and golden and a nice compliment to the sandwich. My wife had the Chief Simon Baker burger, which is a beef patty, cheddar cheese and bacon with fresh mushrooms and fries. I almost chose that as well as I love mushrooms. She enjoyed her burger and it was so good and filling that I had to help her with the fries. I also had a Boylan s root beer and a slice of Lemon Meringue pie which was delightful! Not too filling to finish off the meal. The other couple had a Salisbury Steak and I can t remember the other entree. They had an apple pie for dessert which they make great fruit pies! They loved it! Total bill for 2 of us was about $57 including a good tip. We eat here every few months and always have a good meal. I d also recommend the Yorkshire Pudding and Roast Beef along with the Mixed Grill. But the latter dish requires a huge appetite. Parking: Lots of free parking right around the restaurant. Harder to find parking for breakfast or brunch than dinner.
Always huge portions of tasty comfort food served up with friendly service.
Retro feel but sub par food at today s prices!?! The burgers and chicken tenders were the worst. Not even edible. We felt bad for our server but we won t be going back. Would not recommend
Flavor and amount of food were not that much amazing for such a beautiful and wonderful atmosphere and actually the price, and there was smell of burnt oil in the restaurant that wasnt pleasant
Chuck makes the place! We were there a couple days ago & food & service were good & we were there in the spring with my toddler & Chuck gave him a Tomahawk duck, which Kayden loves to use in the bath!
