The only thing more honest to goodness than this review are the chocolate milkshakes and eggs benny at Douce! Given the high quality ingredients I have no doubt that the rest of their menu offerings are nothing short of delicious, but dont ask me because I order the exact same thing every dang time! Chocolate Milkshake Eggs Benny with Ham Side of bacon Extra holli sauce on the side And! The in house made hot sauce for the hashbrowns I order crispy-ish. The friendly staff is always happy to accommodate a pleasant yet pain in the ass customer like myself and the overall atmosphere is just a feel good place that is always kept spotless!

The 3 stars i think is mostly personal preference, I unfortunately didnt like the food. My bf on the other hand said it was a 7/10. The reason for the 3 stars was because they got my order wrong, the hot sauce was actually sweet, and the hollandaise sauce was sweet as well (i dont like sweet food. The only thing that I thought it was super good was the hot chocolate, the bacon and the sausage.

I enjoy dining at retro diners and I really wanted to like this place. The pro s: great ambiance, excellent management/ service by Riley. The con s: the cook overdid my eggs. I pointed this out to the manager and she offered to have it remade or comp me something. I didn t want to wait for that so I asked what she d suggest as a comp. she offered the biscuits and I accepted. I paid and tipped and left. When I tried the biscuits at home Thayer were inedible as there was soooo much salt. I m not sure what s going on but I d like to try it again and see next time.

Service was pretty good. Food was pretty disappointing. I had the chicken and waffles. Texture on the fried chicken could improve, and the flavour on the chicken, panko crumb breading, waffle and maple syrup was not great. If you re going to get chicken and waffles in the North Shore, the ones at Jam Cafe are much better, flavour and texture wise. It s also a larger portion, plus two eggs, for slightly less money. I could eat the food but don t particularly want to repeat the experience. Probably won t be back unless things change up.

I had been to another diner in this same spot 10 years ago, back then it was known as the Corner Cafe. Chef and owner Dawn Doucette, granddaughter of Leroy Earl Bus Fuller, the founder of Earls and Joeys, has done a great job on this post-modern diner which uses mostly local ingredients with an eye to quality. One of the first things I noticed, besides the neon greeting and the beautiful design of the floor tiles was how spotlessly clean the place is. I only had the soup du jour, which was squash--quite delicious I might add--and some very good sourdough toast. The server was very cordial and friendly. I look forward to a return visit Vegetarian options: Seems to be many offerings for vegetarians...

For a diner we felt the food was average and lacking in flavour compared to other diners across Canada. Not sure what all the fuss is about considering there was a line outside. Polite and friendly waitress

Chicken waffles and Reuben sandwich were on the menu this our first visit. The restaurant was slammed because people were looking for a place unaffected by the severe windstorm. The servers were a bit harried but managed the situation well. The food was excellent and well worth the wait. Special mention is due for the fries. Overall, good food and service. Will return.

We ordered salmon Benny, Denver bowl and French toast. Salmon Benny was so tasty and the biscuit in the Benny was amazing. Denver bowl was just ok. I thought it was overpriced for just a simple 2 eggs breakfast. Arugula that came in the bowl was old and very wilted so I did not eat it. French toast was the highlight. We kept talking about it for several days after having it just remembering how great it was. We will definitely be back again.

Egg Bene is 90 points The omelet was small in quantity and not very tasty, 40 points... Not recommended>>The reply from the restaurant following this review was insincere and told me to visit again. If we improve the size of the hugger to make the content of the omelet more meaningful, all customers will definitely visit again.

We were looking for a place to eat breakfast after a hike and found this place. The food was delicious! Would go back again if were in North Van after a hike at the grouse.

I wrote more than a fair review last time. people shouldn t have to pay $22 for an egg Benedict and chicken that taste like CARDBOARD!! Not to mention the hollandaise sauce that has vinegar instead of Lemon disgusting and cheap!!

Awesome brunch spot.. we come here a couple times a month the sometime more and the bennys are always amazing and always consistent.. one of the best bennys if not the best on the Northshore.. hats off to the kitchen as they are always slammed, but push out awesome food and quickly.. staff is always nice and accommodating..

There are so many great reviews about this diner, I prepared myself for some amazing food. We had the breakfast bowl and Croque Madame sandwich. They were ok, but both were missing flavours, I had a lot better ones elsewhere. I could eat here again if I were in the area, but not worth waiting in line or coming from a distance imo. Service was courteous. The place is meant to have a retro feel but it didn t feel that way to me. The space has too many tables inside, so feels a bit cramped tbh.

Very nice diner

Went here just now for brunch and was sat down pretty fast. The waitress sat down three tables after us and took their order first. Completely ignored us when we tried to get her attention. When we got our food, 2/3 groups who got seated AFTER already ate and out the door. Couldn t get the check for another 10 minutes and proceeded to ignore us. Food was okay. Portion was small but expensive. Never coming back ever again.

Egg Benny was amazing great food and fantastic service.

Good breakfast place. We got there about 10:30 and only had to wait 15 mins for a table of 4. If you were 2s then almost no wait at that time as it seamed to be between morning crowd and lunch crowd. Good food and service

My partner and l went for a late morning breakfast, and despite it be busy, we were seated in 5 minutes, and had delicious breakfast of French toast and the denverish bowl, the best ever banana chocolate expresso milk shake, and to top it off wonderful service.

Absolutely love it! We moved from Montreal to North Van one week ago and went to this place twice already! first thing first, the atmosphere is super friendly and enjoyable, the people who work there are kind and professional, as for the food, there s an excellent choice of options but what we loved the most today was their salmon special! And guess what, the coffee cups are of a good size, not those little ones you can t even get a taste of your cappuccino with. Perfect spot, highly recommend! Oh yes and try the buttermilk biscuits, they ll melt in your mouth

Very busy but the service was hopping and keeping the coffee flowing. I ordered the $17+ waffle and had to eat again when I got home! There was only ONE waffle with a bit of strawberry it didn t even fill the plate (gone in 6 bites). $26 brunch was robbery. Note: I did enjoy my 2 cups of joe despite the bad first (and last) impression.

Food and service were great. Everything got 5 stars but the prices seem a bit high for the serving sizes. I got the two extra chirizo sausages added on for $5 and they were very small. That is why all in all it was a 4 star diner to me. Other than prices I still think this place is very nice and worth trying. Delicious food, friendly service and a nice look to the diner as well

Amazing brunch, great drip coffee. Chorizo sausage was a hit, but the thick cut toast needs jam or something to dip it in. Would come back again. The place is cozy and the ambiance is great. Servers on a Saturday morning were great and attentive.

The first time we came here was on a whim. The salmon eggs Benedict were delicious and the espresso was made to perfection. My husband appreciated the pastrami sandwich. Yum! It was super busy but the waitresses were so kind and polite. The second time we came out to Douce Diner it was a quiet Monday. My husband and I shared an iced Americano. He got the chicken and waffles, while I got the breakfast bowl. Both were fresh and delicious. Our son loves the chicken and waffles and ate ravenously. Again, the waitresses were so polite and kind. Dawn Doucette was behind the bar and we were watching her interactions with the team. She is so kind and happy with her team. She stopped by our table to chat about her kids and the food and she stopped by another table on her way out. We will be back to for more fried chicken. I just wish they had the French toast on weekdays! Many on here commented about the price of the menu. The food quality is high and fresh, and we left full between two adults and one child on two entrees.

Place is small but has a nice ambiance. Food came out quite quick. It gets full quickly because its worth it. We order breakfast Samy and Denver bowl. Pretty sizable portions, I couldnt even finish mine. Food was delicious and coffee ( i had a mocha) was just what u need in the morning.

We stopped by here on a Friday that my wife and I had taken the day off to go for a hike and do some things around the house. It was after 1:15 on a weekday so they had a few tables available inside and outside. It was a pretty hot day so we chose to eat inside. Our son ordered a Cookies & Cream Milkshake. My wife and I ordered some fresh lemonade, which was so refreshing with the heat. Our son ordered a French Onion Grilled Cheese with Shoestring Fries. It was delicious and very filling but he managed to finish it all. The fries were crispy and nicely seasoned. My wife ordered the Avocado Eggs Benny with hash browns. She loved it! I ordered the Croque Madame sandwich with hash browns. The melted Gruyère cheese went so well with the ham, bread, mornay sauce, sunny side up egg and hash browns. It was amazing and a perfect bite! I was just able to finish it. The food and service was great! This is a great place to come for breakfast, brunch or lunch and we re so lucky we live within walking distance of it! Parking: There is free street parking in front and free diagonal parking on the side street.

A few years ago, I wrote that Douce Diner was a great spot for breakfast and lunch. It offers an attractively designed location, friendly efficient staff, and prepared foods using the best ingredients. Previously, I said Douce is the best North Shore diner. After several visits, I can amend that statement to say Douce is the best diner in the lower mainland. Eggs, bacon, and hash browns may seem easy to serve. But if that were true, why is it often served badly at other restaurants? The eggs benny with bacon was perfect at Douce. My partners scrambled eggs on toast was another perfectly executed dish.

The food is pretty good! Decent portion sizes and reasonably priced. A lovely little neighborhood diner in a fairly industrial area! The parking around here isnt terrible either.

This was our second time for breakfast at Douce, the cappuccino is perfectly made and delicious, I always have the avocado Egg Benedict on biscuit, love it. The service is always great and with a smile even on a very busy weekend morning.

Delicious option for those who are celiac! I mentioned Im gluten free and the waitress (Eva) asked if Im celiac so my food could be prepared separately. Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was gluten free & delicious! Subbed hashbrowns for fruit. Felt safe and no gluten reaction. My only wish is for a full bun next time! Fantastic shape and texture, the omelet reminds me so much of sunshine. If you like French omelet, this is definitely the one to have. What really surprised me was the bread. Not your typical diner bread, its hearty and bouncy! The decor is super cute.

Out enjoying the beautiful day here in Vancouver BC and thankfully discovered Douce Diner. Not really a salad guy, but Im so glad I tried this one. It was fresh and full of favor with to many ingredients to list. Also tried the caramelized onion grilled cheese which will make it hard to go back to a plane GC. Nice little place with very friendly staff & great service. We got there about 2:15 pm on a Monday (which was a holiday) had no problem with sitting.

As a rare occasion of leaving a negative review, I have to express my disappointment with Douce Diner. Despite commendable service, the experience was marred by exorbitant prices and subpar food quality. A single waffle priced at $17 lacked the promised crispiness and was devoid of whipped cream. The chicken and waffle dish was outright disgusting, with both components failing to meet basic standards of crispiness and proper cooking. Additionally, the lack of garnish left the chicken and waffle bare on the plate. To make matters worse, the breakfast for two totaled $73, a steep price for such subpar food. The only saving grace was the delicious coffee. Overall, Douce Diner fell short of expectations and fails to justify its high prices with lackluster culinary offerings.

This has got to be the best Benny I ve had in recent memory. The hash browns were perfectly cooked - not greasy and subtly crispy. The dressing on the salad was well balanced. I m not sure if they make their own hot sauce too. Amazing coffee - apparently they just switched to a new brand. Cute ambiance. Don t bother waiting for an inside table if a patio table is open; the patio is well heated and we found it quite comfortable on a grey March morning. Thank you Eva for your quick and friendly service. You said you were short staffed but our food came out fast, our coffee was kept topped up and you even had our bill ready to go. We ll be back!

I m so glad I got to try out Douce! The food was amazing! I had the eggs Benedict with salmon and it was the best eggs Benedict I ever had! I also shared the Brioche French toast and it was delightful! I can t wait to try the chicken and waffles!

Amazing food, it was very luscious and melted in your mouth. The orange juice was so fresh, though it was a very small amount. The staff was kind of nice? But the food made up for their ambivalence. The server was also able to modify my menu item with no issues, making it dairy and egg free! The place is a little small and the bathroom isn t the best, but it certainly has a lot of character!

Amazing food and friendly service. Wait can get long if you re coming during weekend mornings, but I d say it s worth the wait. I really enjoyed my Salmon Eggs Benedict. The tater tots in the bowl were not the frozen ones I expected, they tasted delicious and crunchy. The coffee was just okay, I didn t like it a lot so next time I ll try one of their speciality drinks.

Following a recommendation from Joel Hansen, we decided to check out this diner, and it certainly did not disappoint. The ambiance perfectly captured that classic diner vibe, which I absolutely adore, always striking the right chord with me. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, enhancing the overall experience. The Reuben and hash were certainly delicious, but the standout for me was the double deuce burger. The combination of juicy beef patties with the unique addition of pickled zucchini and red onions was simply divine, easily making it one of the best burgers Ive enjoyed in recent memory. With such a varied and tempting menu, its easy to understand why this place has become a go-to for many.

Fun and cute place to have a really tasty breakfast. Alex was so welcoming, engaging, and made great suggestions on what to order. The eggs on both dishes we had were perfectly cooked, and both meals were super tasty. Extra thanks to the crew who put a bunch of effort into developing a list of suggestions for restaurants that we should try while in Vancouver. Cute little spot with friendly staff and great food

Very tasty. We ordered the eggs Benny with fried chicken. The homestyle biscuit really elevated it for me. We also had the breakfast bowl which was good but not as amazing as the Benny.

Went here for brunch for the first time. Had to wait about 30 mins but not a big deal as the place has limited seating and is not a big space. Ordered the London fog and loved the size of the mug. Had the chicken and waffles and dont let the presentation of this dish fool you. The seasoning was on point and the waffle was soft and fluffy but the standout was the gravy. Could pour that over anything. Will be coming back to try the eggs benny.

Really enjoyed this diner. The chocolate milkshake was fantastic (thanks for splitting it up so we could all try it and still have room for the meal - much appreciated). Delicious but very tiny and expansive for what you get

I ordered the avocado eggs benny for my brunch and it was very tasty. A server even asked me how soft I wanted my poached eggs. My partner ordered the Denver-style breakfast bowl, which was also delicious with chorizo sausage and a refreshing salad! The only thing my partner mentioned was that the portion wasnt enough for him. Even if he had my eggs benny, I dont think he would be satisfied with the volume and would have to order something else.

Great place for brunch! Gluten free bun available for GF diners and their avocado toast can be an easy GF DF Vegan option if you sub the toast for the GF bun. The only other GF option is their granola but it s served with yogurt which may be a restriction for some. Great tea selection. Cute retro diner vibes. Love the pink aprons. During our stay in Vancouver we went to Douce Diner twice. The food is awesome (definitely recommend the Eggs Sammy) and the staff very lovely and attentive. I also like their interior design - really fell in love with this place. Best brunch experience I ve had so far!

They purposely mix up the tip options on the machine in hopes that someone doesn t pay attention and gives 22% tip. Ridiculous for a brunch restaurant Food is decent but nothing too special. It was very difficult to wave anyone down to help. However, they were quite friendly.

Great breakfast and brunch spot that has good wheelchair access. Their eggs benedict is among the best and I also love their Reuben and French toast. Not as big of a fan of their fried chicken but otherwise I find the food consistently great. The servers always remember my dad and know his order by heart. Wheelchair accessibility: The tables are at a good height for wheelchairs and tables are not too closely packed together, but the door is not automatic.

Dine in. I had my favorite advocado toast my way. This is my favorite I have it every time but yesterday it was very dry. I think they forgot the vegan mayonnaise. A little disappointed as I am a regular.

We love this place! Unfortunate mispronunciation of the name by some of my friends, but that makes the place all the more memorable. The burger at lunch time is a particular favorite.

We ordered a burger between two people and they split our burger and fries for us into separate plates. Absolutely wonderful service.

What a nice find! Driven past many times but took the invite of a friend to get me inside and enjoy great little spot. Will for sure be back. Easy parking and quaint little diner. Got that ole diner vibe. The fresh onion grilled cheese was super delicious and then to top it off, I got persuaded into a banana split which I have not had for years and it sure was delicious with the caramelized banana and ice cream. Don t miss out on this one. Lots of great choices on the menu so stay tuned for more updates but make a visit. You will be most glad you did!

Charming spot for breakfast/ lunch with great food and service. We got the two eggs any style and got a biscuit instead of toast, which was the move for sure. The iceberg wedge salad was also tasty. Our server was super friendly and just seemed like such a great person. Highly recommend.

I came here for brunch today and had the breakfast sammie and shoestring fries. The shoestring fries were phenomenal, super chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Would absolutely recommend it! The girls were so friendly and accommodating. I had originally ordered to take out and decided at the last minute I wanted to sit down to enjoy it on their patio, and they were so great about accommodating it. Thank you so much for a great morning, Ill definitely be back with my family!

Loved the diner atmosphere, with a contemporary twist. The food and menu were excellent and service was friendly and fast. Eggs benny come on biscuits instead of a muffin and that was a first for this Brit, but loved it!

Cute interior with a 50s diner vibe but the food just didnt impress. Hollandaise sauce tasted a bit tart for me. Eggs Benny sitting on a little crusty biscuit that was too dense. Server missed passing on the dry bun request to the kitchen.

Heading to the ferry with time to kill I Googled breakfast restaurant near me. 5 minute off hyway. WOW, what a find! Incredible quality food, ingredients, atmosphere, and staff. Inspired chefs create incredible simple dishes. They take the time to make it taste good, cook it perfectly, and use quality ingredients. Ignore the negative comments, this place is Top Shelf. We will be planning time to stop here every trip we pass by. Thanks everyone :)

Such a cute/charming place, always busy. The eggs benny are excellent - served on a fresh biscuit, smoked ham, lovely hollandaise. Unfortunately, was disappointed in the omelet; egg part was great, but it was filled with a TON of Boursin which dominated flavour-wise. Would be so much better if there were 1/4 the amount of Boursin along with some other filling, or perhaps give omelet filling options?

Get the Reuben or any of the Eggs Benny. Salad or Hasbrowns, or half and half! You can thank me later. Has a real 50s Diner vibe. Go early or you will have to wait in line. Staff are fantastic and always at the ready to fill coffee/water and make sure you are enjoying your meal.

Best place for a Reuben sandwich in North Shore

Ruben Sandwich is on sourdough not rye. Corned beef itself was under seasoned but cooked well. Overall sandwich is on the dry side. Fries were good, not great. On the positive wasnt greasy and it was generous. Bottomless coffee came in a small cup and barely 70%full, very cumbersome to ask for refills. Drip coffee itself was flavourless. I would say it is milder than most coffee in a regular office would serve. Ambiance was like Archie and Friends (comic book), the booth/seating were very tight. Parking can be difficult as there isnt pay parking, however there are parking maids circling as this is considering an industrial area and they will ticket.

Cute diner with an old school but modern feel. Bennies and hollandaise were fantastic. Will be going back to try other items on the menu.

Keyur is an exceptional waitress! Her service during brunch was outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, and made our dining experience truly enjoyable. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Keyurs professionalism and warm personality made our brunch memorable. Omg this place is so cute!! We sat at the bar and had the loveliest server. We both had the London fog with oat milk. Super creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. If I didnt have to work tonight I would have loved to try one of their boozy drinks, or even a milkshake! It was hard deciding what to eat but we both settled on the salmon benny with hashbrowns. Omg, the biscuit was so good. It was thick and sweet. And the egg was perfecly soft like how I requested. Even the hashbrowns were delicious!! They have their own house made ketchup and hot sauce. Omg so delicious. I definitely want to come back here!
