The little old restaurant on Pemberton Road in North Vancouver was the first Cactus Club. It has more of a pubby feel, with dark wood beams, pictures in antique looking frames and a choice of high or regular tables. An enclosed and heated patio greatly increases the capacity. Food and service are both good as always.

It s such a shame how cactus has clearly taken a turn for the worse since it was sold. In 20 plus years, I like many, couldn t ever find a reason to be unhappy with cactus, their food or their service. I have now had two bad meals in person in kelowna. Now, for the 4th delivery order in a row, north van just clearly doesn t care to get orders right. It s like they cut their quality check person. It s not the same great and reliable brand it use to be.

Adequate food at too high of a price point. They kind of market themselves as fancy or upscale, but the food is honestly fairly mediocre. Not BAD, but just not worth it overall.

Ive never actually managed to be seated at this location, despite trying on a number of occasions. Weve had a group of 7 make a reservation and then be told we need to sit at 2 tables, and then that same group, with a reservation again, be told we can sit at high tops shoved together or not be seated. Definitely makes one not want to bother.

Was looking to reconnect with this place after moving out of North Van a few years ago. Super glad to see them mostly keep the original layout and ambience of the place. Reception was pleasant and accommodating of my request for a booth inside (looking for AC on a 30c day!), as the inside was only about half full. Went right into menu and ordered one of of my go to items. Server C.K. was unsmiling and a bit snappy but I chalked it up to the heat and maybe a hectic lunch hour earlier. Food was great as always! However as I was looking to catch up with some work emails, server kept checking on me to ask curtly how the food was (the first couple times) and if I was done /needed a box which I thought was strange considering my food wasn t even halfway done and I was there about half an hour. I m quite mindful of overstaying, and I kept checking my watch as it was a late working lunch for me. One time she asked so loudly the customers at the next table couldn t help but look at us. When done, I asked for the bill and because I felt the service was not up to par from my recollection, I lowered gratuity to 12% from the recommended 18%. I thought that was fair, given the food was great, reception and other staff were nice except my server. C.K. was not happy at all. She printed out my receipt, left it rolled on the table, quickly turned around and left in a huff without saying a word. Not judging her by this one incident, as she may have had a challenging day, but why take it out on your patrons? Not keen on going back in the future. Unpleasant experience today erased all the fun memories of this place for me. Maybe the 12% tip was too high.

Simon was fantastic. Steak fajitas were phenomenal.

Liked the burger, even though not the best ever, a decent one. The patty is a bit thin, one would expect a meatier and a juicier burger. The kale salad was also decent. Nice and helpful staff, well decorated floor.

We came in last Saturday and had excellent service from jaden!!!! I believe he is a new server but you could never tell. He gave us great recommendations on the food items as well as activities to do in the city while we visited. The Hugon spritz with sprite was refreshing and the hot chicken with sweet pickles was phenomenal! Keep it up. And thank you Jaden!

Nice place, nice atmosphere, good food, however my J.D burger was full of gravy, that much that one can not be sure about the taste and quality of the meat itself. The French fries were also basic. All over all, I enjoyed the experience. Food

Its one of the old locations of Cactus Club, so its not as busy as other locations. Its very quiet but still nice for hangout.

We came for a typical Sunday early dinner. There was a long piece of blonde hair in my burger. Sent it back and it took while for my new burger to arrive it also kind of killed my appetite. They ended up charging for the new burger as well. Its interesting to note how different cactus was before it got acquired by Earls. Just saying. Not impressed.

Ordered a veggie burger and half fries. Was charged an extra $2.75 without being told! It not like I received an extra amount. The small amount of fries and sald were miniscule. It s cool and friendly place, I feel like that it needs much better service due to its popularity the teriyaki chicken was good and the sauce was prepared good and the fries was really fresh and nice

STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION. Last Thursday was on our way for an impromptu dinner (also attempted to call a few times and no one answered). Listing showed the restaurant closes at 11pm, showed up at 10pm only to be told due to renovations theyre closing early and not seating anyone. Most of the restaurant was empty and they were still serving multiple tables. The gentleman who greeted us was extremely dismissive and rude. Disappointing experience.

We dined here on Friday night, and had some food and a few cocktails. Sour whisky was the best among all of them and Chicken Tenders were amazing! THANKS SIMON FOR THE HOSPITALITY AND FAST SERVICE

Had the worst service. Entered after 9pm on a weekend. The place had a few occupied tables, but otherwise quite empty. My partner was driving so couldnt drink alcohol, and I asked for a few minutes to review the cocktail menu. Our server didnt seem too fond of us only ordering food to start. She never came back to get my order, and when it came time for the bill, we had to go up and ask for it after waiting so long, and even then it took 5-10 minutes for her to finally bring it. Whats frustrating is that the table behind us had customers. My partner is a lawyer and Im Director, were not exactly trouble makers. The only thing we can put it down to was that we didnt order drinks at the start, and seen as a cheap table because of that.

My fiancé and I had such amazing service at this Cactus Club. Our server Simon was so friendly and made us feel so welcomed !!! He was super attentive and everything was perfect, including the yummy cheesecake that he recommended. Two thumbs up !

I recently visited with my family and I must say, the experience this time was exceptional, thanks to our server Joe! While I ve frequented this establishment numerous times before, and have enjoyed the food, which is consistently good, this visit stood out because of Joe s outstanding service. Not only did Joe attend to us promptly and efficiently, but he also went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was memorable. His care made us feel valued. What truly impressed me was how he interacted with our young daughter. Joe was very patient and engaging, which not only made her feel special, but contributed to her good behaviour throughout the meal. It s rare to find someone who can effortlessly cater to both adults and children alike, and Joe mastered it flawlessly. Overall, our visit to the Cactus Club was elevated to a whole new level, all thanks to Joe s exceptional service. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone not only looking for great food, but an unforgettable family dining experience. I sometimes eat at Cactus 3x/week. I love that you can customize any meal to your dietary needs. I have custom made gift cards that I give out to my patients. Keep up the good work! North Vancouver is my favourite location, and Joeh has been my server for decades. He knows how to make your dining experience perfect, and keep you smiling! My fiancée and I ordered the rain coast greens, mini burgers and spaghetti, all to share. The spaghetti came out first then the salad and mini burgers together. While we didn t specify the order, it s pretty standard to have the salad come out before the main. Not too much of an issue but the salad was missing the pecans. When we notified our waitress, she apologized and brought some out on the side. We added them to the salad but immediately noticed how abnormally spicy they were. The rain coast greens is one of our favourite items and have had it many times at other locations so we know how it s supposed to taste. I told this to the waitress and in the end she comped a beer but really should have taken off the rain coast greens. Of course these were all small issues but added together we were not impressed. Will stay away from this location in the future.

I recently dined at Cactus Club in North Van and received exemplary service from our waitress, Grace. Her professionalism and warmth added to the overall enjoyment of our meal. Graces recommendation of the chicken fajita was exceptional the perfectly seasoned, succulent chicken, combined with fresh vegetables, created a delightful culinary experience. Her expertise and attentiveness made our visit truly five-star-worthy. Highly recommend!

At the restaurant at 4PM today.. asked to ensure there were fish tacos available as we all wanted the tacos... to be told almost an HOUR later that they were now out of that item.. only to have the table across from us that came in 30 min after us be served the fish tacos.. Management is very poor I would highly suggest any OTHER Cactus Club.... not the first time Ive had a poor experience but this was by far the worst. I will not return .

the impossible burger is my go to at cactus club being vegan. I ordered the vegan impossible burger and fries tonight via doordash for pick-up. I got to the restaurant before the order was ready and waited 10 minutes, so it couldnt have been sitting there waiting for me. I also live 3 minutes away. I get home and it is ICE COLD - the bun isnt cooked at all, the patty is basically frozen. The fries were colder than a January day in Edmonton. so disappointed, going to make the longer drive to park royal next time, ugh. Reply to Caroline: Thanks Caroline, but it s unfortunate you need to speak to your staff about serving cold/uncooked food. Cheers!

I have been coming to this cactus club for more years than Id like to admit. The problem is its the same restaurant that it was in 1988. And for an average tasting steak at $50, the ambience needs to be better. The beautiful beach and ocean view at Cactus Club English Bay does justify the price, although the parking issues make it unpleasant if you choose to drive there (theres valet parking nearby, but by the time you tip the driver the usual $20, it adds $33.00 to the cost of your evening. And Cactus Club just isnt impressive enough to justify that. Rather go to Tableau or Gothams

My husband picked up take away from here tonight in a pinch. Took 45 minutes to get the food and in the end my salad was a box of mostly rotten lettuce. Update: tried delivery again. They sent out only part of my order. Its been an hour since I contacted them and the rest of the food still hasnt arrived.

Had dinner at the North Vancouver location last night. Fantastic service by our waiter Joe. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and was extremely friendly and engaging without being annoying. He was very professional while still being about to engage in a conversation and joke around. Would absolutely go back for the food and ask to be in Joe s section! Vegetarian options: Great number of vegetarian options. Parking: Decent number of free parking in the back of the restaurant.

Always good everything

Joe was such an awesome server. He gave us great advice on drink and menu items as well as things to do in the city while we visited. Aperol spritz, and the Lime Lager were refreshing along side our entrees. Chocolate lava cake topped us off for the night, with rich chocolate and sweet vanilla ice cream. We would love to dine here again!

I had horrible service yesterday i felt very uncomfortable and judged they were extremely slow with everything as they were just huddled by the bar talking to each other and there was only a couple people dining in at the time we just watched as our drinks just sat there while they were all talking to each other by the time our drinks came they were a melted mess im definitely disappointed in the service i highly recommend to everyone not to come to this location

My recent visit to Cactus Club Cafe was an absolute nightmare, and its all thanks to the abysmal service we received, especially from the waiter named Joe. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of disappointing, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone. First and foremost, Joes attitude was downright appalling. He greeted us with an indifferent expression and seemed bothered by our presence. Throughout the entire meal, he displayed no interest in assisting us or even taking our orders properly. It was as if he was doing us a favor by gracing us with his presence. Not only was Joe rude, but he also completely neglected his responsibilities. We had to wait an unreasonably long time just to get a menu and even longer for him to finally come over to take our drink orders. Once the drinks arrived, they were wrong, and we had to flag down another staff member to get the situation resolved. As if that wasnt enough, Joe was nowhere to be found when we needed refills or had questions about the menu. It felt like we were invisible, and he was deliberately avoiding us. Its unbelievable that someone can be employed in the service industry while providing no service whatsoever. The food itself was mediocre at best, but the terrible service overshadowed any positive aspects of the dining experience. The lack of attention and care from Joe made the meal incredibly frustrating and ruined what should have been an enjoyable outing. Its a shame that Cactus Club Cafe allows such incompetent and disrespectful individuals like Joe to represent their establishment. I highly recommend avoiding this place unless youre willing to tolerate subpar service and a rude waiter. There are plenty of other restaurants in town where youll be treated with the respect and courtesy that every paying customer deserves.

I guess my only concern was sitting on the patio overlooking the small car dealership. They started up a car and the exhaust fumes were bad for 3-4 minutes.

I get being sentimental and keeping the original spot open but man does this place put the chain to shame. The charm isnt there it seems run down and out of place. The food also wasnt consistent to other CBs Ive been to and we go often. There were 5 servers hanging around the entrance while we were trying to wave them down!

The food tasted good, but the server was really disappointing. She didnt bring me water and didnt even refill my coffee. She didnt even ask me if the food was okay. Even the food I ordered came out late. I didnt even want to give a tip. There was really no consideration for the guests. I like Cactus but I will never go to this branch!

I went and enjoyed a dinner with my partner and was so thrilled with the service and atmosphere this restaurant has to offer. The bar manager/ bartender Nick was awesome! Seriously such a great place. 10/10 recommend

I was hesitant to try a new location as I am with any restaurant chain or not. However, Olivia made sure my experience was top notch! Not only was the service fantastic, but the overall meal and atmosphere was amazing! Great job to her as my server!! Can t wait to be back

I came with some friends, and it was our first time, but gotta say we all loved it! From the drinks and appetizers and over all, their main courses are just on point. Highly recommend the Frozen Brazilian drink, the Jalapeño Margarita drink, and Hot Chicken+Pickles to start... That only made us want to check out what else they have in store! Plus, the ambiance and staff were great.

I had family visiting from Ireland and decided to take them here.. food was nice,but when we received our bill we had 4 extra Heineken on there..luckily none of us where drinking at this point so we knew straight away. We decided to go back the following week because hey mistakes happen and the food was nice. Our waiter explained to us it was happy hour with certain drinks on the menu. Said they were half price all day..got the bill and thought it was a bit high again, but unfortunately didnt look at the receipt till we got home and realized they had charged us full price for the drinks. Then tried calling to explain this..25 minutes later we were still on hold. Restaurant was empty.

My young nephew got his first job and his first pay-check. He invited us to this place. The staff were kind, caring, and lovely. The young lady manager also greeted us with kindness and beautiful smile. I felt welcomed and relaxed. Food and drinks were amazing. Very nice location ..music a tad loud but food was A1!

Ordered food through their website. Estimated delivery was 45 min. Called them after 90 min and spoke to manager Leticia. She told us that they are busy and the website estimate is never accurate. Eventually received our food 120 min from the time we ordered. We were not looking to get any discounts. We would have just appreciated knowing the delay as we had hungry kids waiting. Will never order again from here.

I just ordered from cactus club through doordesh and I had the worst experience. I found a gross hair, disgusting dirt and little hairs on the edges of my french frize box. It s a safety issue!

Be aware, they charge full price for the happy hour items. I ordered Steak Frites, which was $26 in the happy hour menu. When I got the check I was charged $33.75. I showed it to the server, she said there was a mistake, and they ll fix it. After a long wait she came back with a $4.25 reduction to the check. I said this is still not the happy hour price, to which she responded it is because of the taxes! I said, no it is a mistake, she said let me go fix it again. She came back with a $6.75 reduction which still did not make it the price on the menu. I asked to speak to her manager, and asked him how hard is it to honor their own happy hour menu prices, and not make a billing mistake 3 times in a row? The moral of the story is if you order from happy hour menu at this location, check your receipt at the end, and if there is a mistake make sure to double check even if they assure you that they ve taken care of it. My friends, and I will never go back to this place again.

This was my first visit at any Cactus Club ever, definitely not my last. Food is also nice, good portion size, convenient parking, but Joe is the star here. He even surprised us with a free cheesecake, we had an anniversary.

Been there last Halloween and had the pleasure to have Joe as our server. What a delightful experience. Hes spirited and funny in a wonderful way. He really captivated us. Well definitely return there. Food

Ive always enjoyed going to different Cactus Club locations but this last visit was a real delight. Joes service is definitely a 5 star! His wittiness and attention to our group made our groups evening a blast. Ill definitely return and Im already spreading the word about it. Dont ever let him go!!!

Not my favourite Cactus Club location. The atmosphere at this location resembles an old country club. Also, it s a bit small and you can well hear what people are talking about at a table next to you. The food we got was tasting good, as you would except in Cactus, but the water had a distinct chlorine taste.

Nice location, nice setting, nice employers, but I went there and ordered a starter, some drinks and a dessert, and I felt pushed by the server that kept on coming at our table to get us to order more

Food was okay- plates and cups were dirty, hair on napkins, staff attitude as subpar.

The ravioli was spectacular but the service was incredibly slow.

I love Cactus Club. My only criticism about this location is that they dont serve the rolls here.
