Classic American diner serving up greasy spoon favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 80’s diner bar has been a staple in the community since 1980. It’s easy location makes it accessible by transit. Cheap parking in the basement and large patio opens in the spring and summer months.
What can I say, this iconic, institution of a restaurant has made a complete turn around! I used to dine here often, because at this very least, it was decent. But what I never expected was to be completely satisfied with the entire experience! The staff have always been attentive, friendly and accommodating. What lacked for me was the quality of food. Today my boyfriend and I enjoyed the Los amigos hash ( I added some avocado and an extra egg). My boyfriend got his usual- the door crasher. Our eggs were cooked perfectly with glorious orange yolks that oozed with luscious goodness, the food was hot, fresh and well seasoned. We also order a half order of pancakes which were hot and fluffy and to sweeten the experience, Chef Wes gave us some chocolate chip cookies to end our meal. Really great to see the whole team doing well! So, thank you all for making our breakfast a memorable one. We look forward to supporting the team, service staff Chef Wes & his team as well as the current owners refreshed vision of the Eighties Restaurant in the future. Kudos to you all. 👏🏽 Best, M & M 🥂
With a decor that looks like it survived since the 80s, Eighties Restaurant is a chill and relaxed lunch spot that offers made to order food that does push any borders of the imagination. It arrives hot, fresh and quickly, which are the main pros of the place, plating could use some care, fries dumped on top of the sandwich is rarely a benefit. Don't come for the atmosphere unless you love the used pub/diner decor, service is fine and functional, and you can understand that regulars are abound in a place like this. Nothing pushed boundaries and this place operates as a safe space in both the mental and physical capacities.
I've been coming to Eighties for years, and it’s still one of my absolute go-to spots. When the girls and I get together for Sunday brunch, we almost always end up here. The team is so friendly and welcoming to our whole crew—even the little ones! Esteban especially, always smiling and happy to chat, making you feel like family from the moment you walk in. Eighties is filled with so many good memories, and I can’t wait to be back to make more.
Headed over to Lower Lonsdale to run an errand after long gym session. Had heard of the "80s Restaurant" so headed up to Civic Plaza at 14th Street to check it out. Nice low-key vintage vibes -- think classic homey diner feel with wrap-around balcony outdoor seating for warm/summer days. Bar and screens for watching hockey/football matches. Friendly welcoming people and amazing waffles, French toast and eggs benny on the all-day breakfast part of their menu. Dinner section also features veal cutlets, fish & chips, Salisbury steak etc. Great convenient central Lonsdale location and great people.
Had brunch at Eighies Restaurant yesterday. Located on the best areas North Vancouver on a lovely little side street. I was greeted warmly when I arrived and given a choice of seating. The server immediately made sure I had water and The menu while not expansive does offer a variety of (predominantly) cuisine choices. Once my friend arrived we were given time to scan the menu and make our choices. I ordered the burger 🍔 Fries 🍟 The food arrived in good time - We both enjoyed our meals and found them satisfying and tasty. The only tiny complaint I might have is I think the presentation of the food could be turned up a notch. Following our main course we both shared the Pepsi , Overall we really enjoyed our meal. We were helped by a couple of servers and both were outstanding! Thank you we will be back.
I’ve ordered delivery from here several times, and it’s been very tasty! Always the vegetarian omelette. Today I think the cook just wanted to go home. Potatoes burnt on the outside yet somehow still mushy on the inside. Flavourless. Omelette was even worse, salt and pepper couldn’t even save it! I don’t know how you make food with so many ingredients have such non-existent taste?? It’s honestly an impressive feat, somebody call in Ripley’s !! Two stars simply because the toast was acceptable and the omelette wasn’t burnt- otherwise this was a truly embarrassing meal. I could’ve made something 12x tastier at home and I wish I would’ve. What a waste of 20 dollars. Please, save your cash and go to Cora’s instead. Your brunch cravings will NOT be satiated here. Edit: Thank you for the offer but I am extremely reluctant to eat anything else made here, no offence!
This is one of my favorite brunch and lunch places in the city. The prices are reasonable and although the place has an 80s vibe, it's very clean. The staff are friendly and the food feels healthy and home cooked. The toasts and burger buns are super chewy and flavourfull! Fries were also crispy and fresh. Overall, I always enjoy my time here!
Update Jul.24: I believe the 80s changed ownership once again, so you'll see some different menu items. Still feels the same. Eighties Scramble now has tasty potatoes on the side. Lost Amigo Hash is a new 'bowl' addition. Still as satisfying. ---- Jul.22: The 80s was recently purchased by the Smoke & Bones folks. Still looks the same, some of the same staff, some of the same menu items but a different looking menu. Loved that you could customize your omelette fillings (not possible in the past without upcharge) though I did miss cheese as a basic filling. The 80s Special Scramble, however, had the addition of hashbrowns but noticeably fewer eggs on top and was disappointing. We'll keep coming back to try our favs!
Great food, great service, and really fast kitchen. I had the breakfast bowl with the chorizo and peppers, highly reccomend.
Food really got from not really good to bad. Dont eat there but its ok if you only want to have a beer.
This place is iconic!
The most tender and flavorful steak sandwich!
Amazing server, delicious eggs but the food tasted bland despite the sauces/seasoning at the table.
We ordered the beef dip last weekend and it was pretty good! The server was very quick and kind. We love the views out the windows
Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Clean and comfortable. Comfort food done very well.
Just okay
Great food and a great vibe. I love their British Burger. Not sure what makes it British Lots of fresh topping?
Weekend dinner specials by Martin are AMAZING!!! sometimes its bangers and mash, or Lasagna, or Homemade meatloaf, never a dull dinner special!!
Management sucks
The best food I ve eaten in North Vancouver
I came for a music bingo night on Wednesday, and the activity, food and service was awesome. Definitely will be back for another bingo night during this rainy days!!
I fell in love with Eighthies from the first bite! Yam Fries are my weakness, and Eighthies Sliders are perfection. Specials are a dream. But what truly makes Eighthies shine is its cozy atmosphere and warm service. Wednesday Bingo nights are guaranteed fun. Thanks, Eighthies, for becoming my go-to spot.
Excellent service, food and great beer
To bad trying to fix something thats not broken. Lost me as a full time customer wont go back there. 3 strikes your out. Thats how I feel did resturant for 13 years and been in the Hotel bar industry for ever
This is the best hidden Jem on the North shore. Excellent staff friendly efficient and best of all Great foods for the price! 5
Drinks are amazing had margarita s they ate cheap and delicious
This is supposed to be breakfast potatoes? Those are the scrapes at the bottom of the fryer gross
Our server Esteban went above and beyond!!!!! Entertaining and very attentive, definitely going back just to see him.
Amazing pancakes, and eggs benny. The food was perfect and Estiban was so hospitable. We will definitely come back. For the great food an service.
Waiters are garbage.
Delicious food and amazing staff. I m always excited to see Suzi and Georgiana.
Its mediocre at best. The soup was just warm. The sandwich was small and there were few fries with it. You have to pay $3 extra to substitute a salad for the fries. The service was lacklustre. I couldnt even get a wedge of lemon on my water glass. We wont be back.
Horrible service and average overpriced food.
The best place for breakfast or brunch in North Vancouver is the Eighties Restaurant. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is experienced and friendly. We always come here.
Great atmosphere, service is great everyone is very nice. My friends and I have been coming here for years, nothing but good things to say about this place!
Asome time
Not bad, but not impressive either.
Cant stress enough the superior service from waitress Georgina. She is super friendly, efficient and so accommodating. She made our day with her happy, smiling demeanor. Give this gal a raise!!!!!
We ordered breakfast, two meals, both portions were small, one door crasher and chicken strips and fries, the chicken tenders were very small looked nothing like their display pics. The door crasher eggs were just plain again very small portions. However the turkey sausages very the only highlight of the two meals. Will never order breakfast from there again
Dont come for the food, its bad and reminds me of cafeteria food. Service is awesome, drinks are a good price for a pub. Solid location. Terrible food.
Very retro menu that does take you back to the 80s. Great home style food at very good prices. Awesome Happy hour deals that will make you blush. Definitely on my list of places to go when Im in the city.
Great food and awesome staff!
Wonderful people
This place is so underrated. Classic menu, nothing fancy, but tasty dishes cooked well, solid portions, and great servers. Reasonably priced with an all day happy hour menu. Whats not to like.
The best best best best everything
We got plastic bits in our scrambled egg. We returned it and no charge, but no explanation. Wonder what else is in the food?
Asked for my eggs medium hard it came extremely watery twice. What shocked me was that the waiter offered to microwave my meal! They did offer to take the meal off my tab and still charged me for the add ons of my meal unbelievable.
Ive been coming here from about 2000. Maybe earlier. I love their omlettes. I hadnt been there for some time but just recently popped in for a meal. Yes, of course, an omlette. It was different than what Id gotten used to. Well, I found out its now under new management. Ill have to go back to check out some of their other options. To be continued.
I absolutely love this place! I have been going here since it opened and it never disappoints I adore the atmosphere and the price of the food can t be beat! Nowhere I d rather spend a rainy day at then here, but I love it in all weather. I hope they never change!
This used to be such a good place, then it went downhill pretty bad. I can see them slowly improving again. Portions are still behind what they were. Sitting outside on the patio is nice for sure
Service is 11/10 Arguably the best beef burger I ve ever had in vancouver. Tastes like the ones my dad would make bbqing in the backyard when I was a kid. Ratatouille moment. Hot fresh and cheesy. Cant wait to be back
Dined here recently to celebrate Fathers Day. Terrible experience. Our server was the worst. Orders were put down in front of the wrong people, without checking. Kids started eating the wrong meals. Our Dads meal had to be remade, an extra 20 minute wsit for him. Over easy eggs came sunny side up, and therefore not eaten. My MonteCristo sandwich was filled with disgusting turkey chunks, rubbery cheese, and ham with the rind on. NEVER going back.
I go here all the time and they never dissapoint. Great comfort food, relaxing atmosphere, and friendly staff every time.
We had a family breakfast at Eighties and it has a great atmosphere. Everything was good. We had several dishes from the menu and enjoyed them. The staff are very friendly and respectful, especially Elina, who helped us and made it a really good experience for us.
Thanks Elina Delirious food, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Food
Warm welcome and great food! The server was Brooke, she was very kind, hospital with a charming smile! Keep it up Food
Breakfast was delicious here. I will definitely come here again on my next trip back here.
Standard diner fare, very friendly And attentive staff. Even when busy doing their best to attend to all their patrons
You gotta eat here. ***** Probably the best value breakfast joint in the lower mainland area. Awesome prices, even better homestyle cooking. Also, the amazing views. - UPDATE 2024. ** Came back again. I think the owners have changed. Prices have gone through the roof while quality has gone down along with portions. It is expensive to eat here now. Much better breakfast places elsewhere. Service is still gold .
This was by far the most disgusting food I ve ever had. Disappointing delivery happens. This place goes beyond that. It s not even for human consumption. Everything was burnt to a crisp, the most awful hash browns I ve ever had. Like how does one screw up hash browns. I won t even talk about my benny, that was also burnt to a crisp with the inedible poached eggs. Thanks for ruining my Sunday with the worst food I ve ever had. Hands down. Don t be fooled by their pics on door dash. Like how is this place even open for business?
This establishment was my go to for as long that I can remember. Due to the new ownership it has changed dramatically for the worse. The remaining floor staff that had been employed there for years had informed me that a new supplier had been contracted for the majority of the ingredients used in their dishes. Therfore the quality that we have expected is no longer applicable. The new hollandaise is no longer being stored in a warm bath to be ready for service but instead its in a squeeze bottle to be served cold. The ONLY item that has been maintained with the same quality and control as before are the pan fried potatoes. But.. we all know we dont come for potatoes. **New ownership has even changed the potatoes. Eighties is long gone now. I guess were forced to pay an arm and a leg for gas to drive over the bridge to wait in line at Bons instead. Just saying
My son had a great big breakfast and I enjoyed their turkey dinner. Saw my dear cousin Georgina, without her signature cowboy hat from her Lynnwood days!!
A large group of us came in for Brunch today and we had an awesome time. Esteban, our server was incredible.
Waited 10 minutes at the front to be served, while each worker just stared and helped new customers coming in. Couldn t even say hi or anything , would not recommended
Bland food and very overpriced in my opinion. Waitress was not helpful with the menue. The eighties theme is minimal with just some old posters and 80s songs whispering in the background
We had a yummy breakfast this morning! Food was delicious and the service was great We ll be back soon!
Pretty solid local spot based on the last time I was there (havent been there in a while but whatever) but yeah price is fair and food is good nothing thats gonna blow your socks off but its good service is fine and the atmosphere is very nice
Good service, inexpensive prices, and the food lived up to expectations.
Last Sunday was my first visit in over a decade due to moving to Surrey. Until then it was a regular with great food at good value pricing. Not any more. My Ruben was dry and crunchy on bread that looked like it shrunk in the laundry. When i asked what my choices were for a side, I selected the garden salad, then was surprised that this cup of salad, that is always included at other restaurants, was an extra $3! The server was pleasant and the atmosphere as I remember it, although was weird that their Christmas tree was still up at almost the end of January. I will go again but be more scrutinizing on my menu selections.
Update 2024: Need to reduce my score, today I was charged $4.25 for a small cup of tea. This is more than Starbucks, or any other place that serves a cup of tea around here and was really off-putting to see on my bill.
Just a good old feel restaurant, friendly staff and the fare is very satisfying. I have and would recommend for a laid back comfortable meal. Reasonably priced. Oh and 80s music, makes for a great beer or three on the large patio when the weather cooperates.
Best breakfast in North Van
What can I say about this place. It s been a staple for myself for a long time and I always enjoy coming here. Staff are kind and attentive, atmosphere is great and the food is good too. The only bad experience I ve had here was handle so well and so quickly. They took responsibility and handled it, was awesome to see. I will always recommend people check this place out and support this restaurant. Dietary restrictions: When I had someone who was gluten free they accommodated for it.
Its not a very eighties restaurant so maybe a name change is warranted. But thats not the main problem here. Im not really used to being nickel-and-dimed at a place that calls itself a restaurant; yeah COVID and inflation was a thing! But $4.25 for drip coffee? $4 for a couple tomato slices added to your meal. They didnt tell me a bit of mayonnaise was $2 (which is fine by me) but seeing it later on my bill without knowing? I ordered the patty melt which had decent flavour but it was barely toasted so the bread texture was odd here. The patty was very tough and tight to chew!! That was crazy, stop mixing the meat so much, the texture was awful. I thought the price of this entree was quite reasonable, but I guess that explains why there was barely any fries on my plate? The fries from here are not made fresh, clearly the frozen type bought in bulk so how much money did they save leaving so much of my plate empty? It doesnt make sense. It really seemed like a decent place to eat but its methods are not very classy. My vegetarian friend saw not many options as well. I will say the staff as a team seemed nice.
Like eating in 80s movies. I loved the breakfast there. Egg bennies are the best. Food
Lovely lil diner with excellent, honest service. Some items are better value than others (The sandwich menu is fantastic) but overall is very reasonably priced. Drinks are cheap.. great place to go on a Sunday! Double caesars every day for something like 7 bucks. Cant go wrong!
Great place for brunch for all ages!
I ordered delivery. The steak was burnt and not edible. Will not come to this place again. Totally disappointed!!
Had a family birthday breakfast here, mostly because they were the only place I called that would give me a reservation. What a great choice! Food was very good and the waiters service (George I think) was absolutely top notch, very accommodating of special orders and small children. Pricing very reasonable. I will definitely be back. Vegetarian options: I asked for a vegetarian hash (not on the menu, although there is a vegetarian omelet) and it was delicious. Kid-friendliness: Kids loved the food! very happy.
So good thanks.
I live in Vancouver, but went to the North Vancouver Library on Dec 22, 2023. I walked by and saw the Eighties Restaurant promotional sign featuring $18 for a burger and a beer. Very good deal: both beer and burger tasted very good. Love to go back for more.
Its not 80s because of the decor or theme, but rather just because it was started in 1980.
Went for brunch on New Years Day. It was the first time I had gone to the restaurant. It was very busy as we arrived around 12:00. But the line moved quite quickly. Service was great. There was a small problem with the order they brought me sausage instead of bacon and the eggs werent done right but it wasnt a problem I mentioned it to the owner and the server and they deducted it from the bill. A great service they obviously know the value of keeping a customer happy. Im very happy to give this restaurant a five-star rating. I will return the soon
Classic diner vibes with brilliant food
Comfortable place and great family lunch!
Rated a 3 cuz service was so good and always has been. Big change, this was the only place u could get real potato hash browns opposed to the greasy cubes now served. That was the main reason we went there...poached eggs on those potatoes was to die for. Good note though, the mimosas r great and very inexpensive. To new owner, why change what was working...bring back the old hash browns PLEASE! White Spot did from comments.
Didn t like the customer service honestly, When we sat down, we waited for the waiter for 15 minutes, . Also didn t finish our food yet she tried to clean the table
Havent been to Eighties for a long time and today I had the pleasure of enjoying my favorite breakfast, the Door Crasher! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the coffee was fresh! Great food, great service, great atmosphere!!! Cant wait for my next visit!
Havent eaten here for years. Thought wed come back to try it and it was great. Our server Tia was awesome and made it even more enjoyable. Food was really good and they throw a lot on your plate. Also the drinks were really reasonably priced.
Won t be coming back here. I was disappointed to discover that getting a latte with oat milk was not an option, and the eggs benny was mediocre. I also found a hair in the hash browns which really grossed me out. I showed the hair to the server but we were still charged the regular price for the meal. I think we should have at least received a discount due to this hygiene issue. There are much better places in North Vancouver to go for brunch.
Wide selection of food, always tasty and friendly, helpful staff.
Had breakfast here 4 days ago and as always it didnt disappoint. Friendly serving staff and good food. I had the Western omelet and coffee. Reasonably priced for both. My two friends had never been there before and were pleased with their meals as well. Give it a try!
My review the Eighties is high because its a super nostalgic experience for me. Ive literally been going since a was a few months old. My visits are fewer and far between now that I livw further away, but everytime I done at the Eighties, the food tastes exactly how I remember it. And I like that. I love knowing exactly what to expect. Im never disappointed. For a less biased review you can talk to my husband... But hes not writing this. I am. And I would totally recommend the Eighties.
Coffee is hot ..... Breakfast lately comes to the table cold . Everything on the plate is cold. Never had this before. Needs to be changed. Kitchen and servers need to step it up.
Dine in
Pretty inexpensive and good food. Our waitor was absolutely fantastic. So friendly!
Very nice waitress. Food was good. Enjoyed it
The food was not very good, and our drink glasses sat empty until we had to go get someone. The place could definitely use a revamp too. The male server was very friendly though. He wasnt out server, but we liked his energy. Wouldnt go back.
Came for lunch based on reviews. All 3 of us ordered the British burger with fries. Two plates came with hair mixed in with the fries. Mentioned it to the server and she just took the plate and didnt offer new fries or a discount. If you like others DNA in your food this is the spot.
Great service. All day breakfast is amazing. A real classic of North Vancouver. Ive always liked this place.
Slow service, but theyre understaffed. Food was mediocre
Very poor customer service
Always friendly greeting us food is fantastic and great value
We really enjoyed our breakfast! The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. The portions were generous! And the breakfast was a great deal! The only thing we werent crazy about was the coffee. Thats ok ! Well be back.
The staff is really what has me coming back this location has a great set of people, they are wonderful and so sweet and friendly. Good portion of food, tasty, I was feeling at home well.I like the atmosphere creativity Alcohol wont solve your problems..but weither will water or Milk Thank you!!!! Amazing service
No complaints
Great food and service!!
Neighbourhood diner that appears to be popular with the locals! I wasnt too hungry so had heir Caesar Salad for lunch. They were out of romaine lettuce, so substituted with other salad greens. It tasted fine and had a welcome abundance of bacon bits. Others in my group had their Shrimp & Avocado Sandwich, which is one of their favourites. The staff were very friendly. The others in my group frequent the restaurant often and I could tell the staff enjoyed chatting with them! They have a great location off Lonsdale.
Just need more variety on menu otherwise a great place to go
I love the new management and new team. The food is even better quality
We eat there once or more each week mostly breakfast and lunch. I usually have the western omelette and it is excellent. Hope you are hungry as lots of food on the plate. Burger and beer for $17 special is sooooooooooooo good too! Noel the new owner and head chef has really madeover the place. Cheap doubles for $6 and $5 beer all day plus an 80 TV for sports watching. I may sound like I am biased and I guess I am as the food and drinks are all excellent and reasonably priced. Nice to go out without breaking the bank. We are off for brunch/lunch right now to Eighties. See you there!
Great food, amazing price and service
Great service, nice spot in the heart of North Van
Our server Laxmi was the sweetest and took great care of us. Drinks super cheap and so good! Food was a great mix. One of our new favorite spots in Lonadale now.
Eggs Benedict with hash and a pineapple mimosa. Delicious. Food
Spot on. 80s baby. We need establishments like this to continue or create more space in society for this era of greatness.
N Van breakfast hot spot Always good food Recommended dishes
Under new ownership and a new menu, I found this place to be nice and clean. Service attentive. Had the eggs amigo: my eggs were poached perfectly, nice grilled potatoes and hollandaise on the side as requested. I wanted more veggies in my dish such as spinach, onions and peppers, but thats all. I had an americano. Its got a diner vibe with a good view on the patio which I noticed no one used but I dont know why.
First time there. Was really great experience. I would go again
The food took over an hour to get here and they still got my order wrong
I had brunch here 2 times during my visit to Vancouver. Everything is amazing. The staff are super friendly and the food is fresh, delicious and high quality. They have a small nice patio too! I love this restaurant and highly recommend it!
Great food, service and atmosphere . The patio over looks civic plaza and is cozy! Breakfast menu is awesome !
North Van institution. Great food, drinks, service, staff, prices, location and patio! Current owner is awesome and really doing things right. Were so lucky to hold onto a place like this on the shore
Fun old school spot. Great prices on drinks.
The 80 s cafe new management is great. We had written it off but we loved our breakfast today. Great patio, friendly and welcoming staff. My Lost Amigo Hash was the best breakfast I ve had out in a long time. Definitely go there.
Just was there for a quick beer while waiting for friends ... a Great environment, and professional staff especially Jasmine who was serving me. Recommended!!!
Love this old school diner! Great service, yummy diner food at reasonable prices and a fun view of the organic tv outside if you get a window seat. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible.
A place I havent been to in a really long time. Service was absolutely awesome. There was a few glitches in the food department but they were super accommodating to help fix the error. This is definitely a place to hit up if you like breakfast foods and homey comfort food. Decent drink menu and great patio too!!
The review is for its coffee only. It takes a small effort to make a pot of good coffee. Please invest in good coffee beans and do some taste tests before before making it available to paying customers. Coffee is the first thing to arrive at the table. And having a good coffee to start the meal is important. Bad watered down coffee just ruins whatever good food that are being served.
So I ve been an eightys fan for over 30 years. I understand they are under new ownership but though hey what could they change . Today we decided to door dash all day breakfast Got the usual eggs Benny .it was horrible, the worst I think I ve had.. the hollandaise sauce was just awful. The eggs were the size of Robbin eggs, the hash browns were very over cooked. I asked for bacon and tomato and there was no bacon What a disappointment. Sadly I think that was my last time ordering there The change of ownership I don t think has been for the better
Bland
Morning time meals taken 20years. Always happy.
Old school restaurant with good food and great service.
Good location ,Dated interiors, decent food, honest price. Mymosa drink was just 3$ and good. Poutine and fries were good. Burgers, I would pass.
I just order fries but 1 hour wait, no body ask anythings. Bad place i do not recommend. Waste time
Awesome
Extremely slow service. Too slow.
Slowest service I ve ever experienced. Forgot about us over and over again on the patio. Sat for 15 minutes before a server found us, 1.5 hours before food arrived and another 20 minutes of asking for a box and the bill. Food was fine but I should not be spending 2+ hours to eat mediocre diner food.
Nice place to eat
Classic breakfast diner experience. Kid-friendliness: Lots for kids to pick from on regular menu. Food : 5/5 |
This is our favourite spot for brunch and lunch on the north shore. The ceasars can t be beat! Seriously the best I ve ever had. The staff is amazing and always makes us feel welcome! Super fast service and very reasonable prices. Can get breakfast plus a drink for $20. Just awesome!
awesome.rainy and not bust
Cheaper than an expensive McDonalds order and good for you. Unlike McDonalds Kid-friendliness: They love kids more than l love others kids!!! Food : 5/5 |
Excellent food and atmosphere!
I was born in the eighties so this was an easy one for me. Beautiful neighborhood diner with great food, amazing drink specials and a staff that really cares Food : 5/5
Great place if youre looking for a laid back restaurant. I adore the patio in the summer and the food was great!
We enjoyed our lunch today at the Eighties restaurant !! We have been regular guests since they opened !! Still the same quality , service excellent and food consistently amazing !!! Ordered our favorite Patty Melt and all day breakfast which is great !! Highly recommended I think they will our live me as best restaurant!!
I tried classic burger and blt and was happy w price and taste , they r cool. They do cute things like give free cider etc.
It was a good place for a rustic 80s meal My kids and I enjoyed our visit .
Fantastic..we had breakfast and was great..highly recommend this restaurant!!
Cute restaurant but food was quite average, hash browns were really burnt on both dishes ordered. One of the few restaurants in the area offering extended brunch menus though.
Food was average but good, the service was excellent... atmosphere marked down because there is nothing 80s about the place. Maybe it was established back then, but total missed opportunity not to theme it like the 80s. Feels like your average restaurant.
The best traditional dinner in the area! Bottomless coffee
i use to love the breakfast but today there was so much grease on the potatoes plus burnt the toast was good enjoyed my green tea also not very clean was a bit disappointed loved the view a cozy atmosphere Wheelchair accessibility: no ramp or automatic door button if you have a physical disability it s very difficult to get around
I frequently order breakfast burritos from this place. That was until the last time. Burrito was fine, but the salsa, which I paid an additional cost to get extra, was full of pasta. Which was disgusting. Makes you wonder what other cross-contamination takes place in this restaurant. Also not helped by the kitchen staff sitting on the dirty ground with rats everywhere with their kitchen clothes on. I think this place needs to retrain their staff on proper food safety protocols. I also hear from the servers that they allegedly have a sexual harrassment problem from the kitchen staff to the female servers. Wont be going back here until these problems are solved or they get a visit from a health inspector.
I love Eighties, my dad used to go there as a teen and took me growing up and now I take my family amazing food and always has great service
They changed the hash browns to some gross greasy over seasoned pan fried potatoes. The old ones were THE only reason I came here. I thought that I made a mistake ordering so ordered from doordash thinking Id get the good old hash browns... nope got the soggy greasy pan fried AND burnt toast. You tried to fix something that wasnt broken.
Great burger, cheap drinks and great eighty s music!
Miss the old menu, its not as good anymore but cost more..
Really good food and service would definitely recommend and will definitely go again
80s vibe, cozy and lovely! Yummy breakfast and really worth it. Highly recommended Food : 5/5
Eggs Benedict was just so-so and the service was friendly.
This restaurant used to be great until they changed mangement. Now the food is stale and unsalted. The menu options are terrible and the potatoes I got with my eggs benny looked a few days old.
After not being there for over a year, I was told there was a new owner, and a new cook. My last experience with eighties was totally upsetting, getting raw sausage and salted eggs, was over a year ago, but not realizing that the original owner sold it a couple of years ago? I did understand that the new owner back then, didnt have any knowledge on how to cook breakfast! Now another new owner has taking eighties over. I went to try the food again On oct2 2023 I went to eighties, order the bacon &eggs and I was so delited to see the presentation of the breakfast, and the thickness of the bacon and the yellow of the egg yolk, and also the small red potatoes cut in quarters, it was so good ! I ate it all. And the price was very fair ,for a full breakfast! I will be back! And cant wait to try the new cooks hamburgers.
Eggs Benny good. Friendly Staff Lots of options for Breakfast or lunch Wheelchair accessibility: Had a ramp
Updated review. The servers are good but the prices are ridiculous! I came in for the all-day breakfast. It was almost $20 with tax and tip for eggs, bacon and potatoes. I assumed that meant it was a huge quantity which I didn t want. My server said they could do a half plate. My ONE egg was overcooked and the potatoes were burnt. No drink. It came to $15! When I complained about the price, the server told me that the managers say it s Lonsdale pricing . Well they certainly won t be getting my money again. Good fast service. Tasteless egg bennies.
Not bad. We had the cheeseburger w/ fries, and a poutine. Fries are frozen, which is always a meh . Milkshake was barely chocolate but the server did tell us that they just switched brands of syrup, for what that s worth. Poutine would ve been very good if they d used fresh fries.
We just ordered our brunch on Uber Eats. I am impressed with their brunch menu and how reasonable the prices are compared to other restaurants.
Great food with a lovely old school and laid back atmosphere
I wouldve given you a much better review if you had the common sense to open on ThanksGiving Day.. How the hell is that helping your business?
This place is so hit and miss. I guess it depends on which cooks are working that day. Pro tip: Don t order the clubhouse on a Sunday. Stick to brunch items.
Ive never had a worse Clubhouse sandwich anywhere Avocado black and hard. Sandwich cold... which left the bacon with congealed grease coating it, Ugh! The restaurant looks its age. Needs a deep clean...am aware of how Covid, high rents, and lack of finding good reliable staff has taken its toll, but something basic as a Clubhouse...
Order from doordash. $60 breakfast meal for two. Not the eighties that we used to go for the last 15 years . As shown on Photos we got Boiled egg & burned potato instead of eggs Benny Builder & hashbrown. The muffin was soak from grease or water dripping from the boiled egg. Its a shame how this restaurant turn to since Ive always introduce this place to friends and family. I hope this will change.
Wife and I Went for breakfast last Saturday. It was as good as I remember it being. food was great, service was awesome and attentive. Thanks Tia for such friendly and joyful attention. We will definitely return.
Great food service and drinks
Lovely place for breakfast, brunch, or even lunch. The food is delicious and well made. The serving size is perfect and I always leave completely satisfied. The service is always wonderful as well.
Long-term North Van people like to romanticize this place, like it has a cult following. But its the worst. We ate there today with friends who love it and even they couldnt believe how small portion sizes are. Your eggs benny are a joke and you should be ashamed at how small the food looked on the plate for the price of it. To sub a veggie patty for a MEAT patty is $6 extra. Six dollars extra!!!! I dont support places that upcharge for vegetarian offerings, especially when its the only real option for non-meat eaters on the menu. Also, I asked for one small modification (dry toast) and it came sopping with butter. Its not difficult. Oh, and the ketchup lid had black mold in it. Disgusting!!
Pretty poor amount and quality of food. Ordered the the Sausage Eggs Benedict. It was two breakfast sauages cut in half and placed on what can only be described as a English muffin but looked more like a round piece of cardboard. If you are going to overcharge for this meal at least give me enough hashbrowns to make up one potato. I would not have gone here, but my friends insisted and even they were disappointed in the reduction of food they were served. Vegetarian options: Up charging $6.50 for a vegetarian burger patty is ridiculous. If your that hard up for cash why even offer it.
Wonderful diner and pub, with a very good menu, he it breakfast, lunch dinner or pub snacks. Well priced food and drinks, with friendly service.
Excellent food place, everything is very delicious, I highly recommend it, also the staff is very friendly and hospitable, without a doubt highly recommended
Organized clean environment with delicious food
Beautiful spot where breakfast runs all day and is still priced reasonably, staff are happy and generous. Love this place, a North Van staple.
Staff, food, and Service is excellent.
For years I have given up on egg bennies on the North Shore. Instead I have been trying fancy hotel breakfasts. But this place has changed hands. It is not instant hollidaise sauce any more!!!.... Its fresh and the ONLY place with the perfect amount of lemon and real butter. The service has gone above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Thank you!!
Easily the worst restaurant breakfast Ive had in many years. Burnt onion/ red pepper mix .They were so black they were unrecognizable as onions or peppers. Slices of chorizo black (not just well done) on one side. This was mixed with potatoes prepped the previous day which is common practice and which I dont have a problem with, but youve got to reheat them. These were cold. The real problem here was that whoever was behind the grill put this mess out to be served not to mention the waiter serving it. Avoid this place at all costs.
I had my post-wedding brunch here recently and the owners and staff were amazing to work with. They were super responsive to all emails and they made sure we were taken care of the day of. Everyone enjoyed their food and I was glad to get together with all my friends in a nice relaxing atmosphere to help us decompress. Just an absolute classic place to get brunch on the North Shore!
Superb quality of food with great service. Very friendly staff
