Tap & Barrel • Shipyards in North Vancouver

We went to the Tap & Barrell location in Downtown Vancouver a few years ago and did not have a good experience, however we had an excellent experience at this location. We visited from Alberta and were in North Vancouver last week and thought we would try them out for lunch. We are really glad that we did. I did not get our servers name, but they were excellent! They were very friendly, and we were assisted as soon as we got into the restaurant. The drinks and food came really quick. I had the Hummus which was delicious. My wife had the lettuce wraps, my parents had the Poke bowl and my sister and brother in law had the Margareta Pizza all of which looked delicious as well. Thank you again and we will make sure to visit during our next trip to Vancouver. 2nd visit today I visited the location again today. Our experience was excellent again. Our server this time was Kaia. Kaia was very friendly and the service provided by her, the food and the drinks were excellent. I will make sure to visit your restaurant during all my future trips to Vancouver. Thank you!

Today, we came to this restaurant for lunch. The environment of the restaurant is clean and hygienic, it has a separate bar and a private environment with large chairs and tables For lunch, I ordered hamburger and margherita pizza, which was very good and very tasty in terms of volume and size Various and excellent drinks Very friendly and good staff who offered good suggestions for drinks and food Happy and wonderful environment. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the food because it was eaten quickly In addition, special time (happy hours) are defined in the menu (2pm-5pm) where some of the food and drinks on the menu are offered at a discount. Mondays are generally happy hours.

Athena was so nice and witty and the best server anyone could ask for!! 10/10 would come back because of her, she made our experience there so much fun!

I didn t really want to write this review because this place is in my neighborhood. However it is important to share an experience so that it s informative to the operation. My family went there two nights ago and we sat in the bar area on a high stool. No offense to the waiter but I think he may be new, the service wasn t welcoming and attention to order was challenging. When finally our appetizers came not all at once but in piece mail, the soup which was the chowder was extremely salty, I mean who doesn t like a bit of salt but this was beyond. The soup itself was watery and if you had the clam chowder at the quay nearby, you would know the difference, the calamari like dish was even more saltier and we just had to accept the fried pickles which was fine. The point is that when we told the waiter, he really didn t know what to do in terms of offering a replacement or something else, instead we get the manager, thinking ok some reasoning or a warm and courteous encouragement to stay and get something else. We actually had nothing progressive come out of it, maybe the person was having a hard day so we let it go. We said we will be ok with the bill please. Again with no care the bill came for only the pickles but we didn t even eat any of the other dishes, it was a taste of the soup and one bite of the squid like calamari. We ended up paying the ten dollars for the pickles and went home. This note doesn t really explain in depth the experience but I can surely say that after 6 years of living here and visiting Tap on dozen of occasions, we will not be visiting any time soon again. Really disappointing service and food Saltiness.

I organised a corporate event in the upstairs mezzanine and was so happy with this service and care the team provided! Leading up to the event the team was so responsive and accommodating with planning out all the details (shout out to Dara and Kharah). All my guests loved the food, drinks and space. Id definitely recommend this for you next get together or function!

I knew it was a chain but still... Cold and soft fries are kinda inexcusable. Great burger though. Also, I was alone (I travel a lot and often am) and was made to feel like shit about it. (Hostess/manager: awwwh, thats all right as if that was something to pity and then the server clearly couldnt wait till I was gone (as I wasnt ordering enough I assume?) I had only a few sips on my second beer done and he asked me to settle.

We were there last Friday and Sat, enjoyed some apps and drinks. The purple reign is my new fav bevy! So tasty! Nachos were on point! Lots of goodness throughout the chips. Great atmosphere with fast service. Saturday was much busier overall with a strict 2 hour dining experience which we thought was a little much so we sat at the bar and enjoyed the hockey game and food. Will def go back !

My sister and I love meeting at Tap & Barrel Shipyards for lunch. Yesterday, I was so disappointed to find they have taken off my absolute favourite almond pesto pasta (with prawns, heaven!) and replaced it with a basil (nut-free) pesto version. According to our lovely server, they wanted to have a nut-free option. Big mistake! By all means, create a nut-free dish but dont mess with the best thing on your menu! I ordered it, and it was so underwhelming, just a big plate of dry linguine (the one prawn I ate was delicious), I sent it back and ordered something else. Please bring back the almond pesto pasta!

Craft beer shop. Booked for a weekday night for 2 people. Considering peak times, it seems better to make a reservation even on weekdays. Since there were two of us, we ordered two dishes, and we were very satisfied with the portions. I was able to enjoy a comfortable meal as they served me every time. The warehouse with all the craft beers was amazing.

Tap and Barrel on the Lonsdale (Shipyards) is our go-to spot for unwinding after a long week. Its got the lively vibe and waterfront views that just make it the perfect place for a Friday evening hangout. Even though I don t drink, I appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and their few halal options, like pizza and fries, which hit the spot every time. No better way to end the week than in the company of friends. Pro tip: If you re going during peak hours, making a reservation in advance is a lifesaver. It s quick and keeps you from waiting in line so you can jump straight into the fun!

Service was mid at best, my Food came out cold and my fries felt like they had been sitting there for an hour before they were served to me, I mentioned this to the waiter and he did replace my fries but had a bit of an attitude about it. I was in a group of 3 and my food came out about 5-10 minutes after the other 2 of my table got their food. I was extremely disappointed with my service especially after all the great reviews. I am sure this was a once off given all the other positive reviews but the waiter did not seem like he wanted to be at work

The only place I know with the audacity of making you wait 15 mins for a table when it s empty with hundreds of tables free. This is with a reservation too. Atmosphere and food less than average.

I used to work here love the decor. Staff are young and wonderful to chat to. Today the hostess was more than forgetful asking the same question four times. Not sure about the communication requirements to do the job. Hehe

Nice upscale eatery located in North Vancouver next to other amenities. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food selection, quality and price are what you would expect for type of establishment.

This place makes me laugh almost every time I TRY to visit. Its comical how they run their restaurant. Everything here is pretty mediocre, however they have a patio that often has full sun, so once in a while I try my luck to stop by for a beer. Without fail Im told it will be a 30+ minute wait, even though the patio is 20-30% full. I understand its possible they dont have a server on for the rest of the patio, but this happens every time. In this case it is a sunny long weekend, which has been in the weather forecast and isnt a surprise so staffing shouldnt be an issue. Last time it was mid August. And this goes back the past couple summers as well. Blows my mind.

Went to have lunch after a long hike. The food was really good, but the dessert was one of the best Ive had. Will go back for the dessert.

Amazing food, great service, extensive drink selection, and the best dessert I have had in years (Pumpkin Pie Bread Pudding, limited time only). If you are anywhere near North Vancouver, you must come by, if not for a meal, then at least for dessert & a drink!

I went here after work with a girlfriend wanting to yap and have drinks after work. First thing, our main took 30 min to arrive and i think it only arrived because i flagged down a leader asking about our food. She claimed my small piece of bread was burnt so they didn t want to send it out. (You couldn t send my meal and then send my garlic bread out a couple minutes later?) Second, no quality check was done. By the time my food arrived i lost my appetite because i was so hungry i just couldn t eat. We ate our food it was okay (as expected, it s tap) then i asked my friend to order me a beer so i could go to the bathroom. NO ONE CAME BY TO GET US ANOTHER ROUND. Generally we sit at the bar because it s the fastest service. We ended up leaving after 1 drink and went to Joey nearby. We work in the industry we totally get bad days. But this was so frustrating. Good Caesar s tho? Just wished they went the extra mile but instead we got a mediocre meh sorry and moved on. The bartender in the orange shirt was great tho. Always so personable and attentive but yeah everything went downhill after he probably left

The best calamari in BC

Got take out multiple times when my wife and I had just had our baby at Lions Gate Hospital at the end of September. The pesto chicken linguine with extra chicken was a god-send after 3 nights with no sleep. The manager on Sept 25th was so helpful and kind. Will definitely be coming back to eat and play in the water feature when our baby is a little older :)

Went for happy hour in October 2024. Red truck lager is very good beer. Fries taste scrumptiously. Next time Ill try the fish and chips.

We celebrated my sisters birthday in Tap and Barrel in Shipyards. This was our first experience in this location and it was extremely welcoming as they set up a birthday card on our table and staff were super friendly and our food was great. Vegetarian options: This location has more vegetarian options than the other ones I visited before.

Food was great. Gluten free options for the celiacs in the family were sufficient. We made a reservation for 10 people and were told we had to take 4:30 or wait till 8. We came at 4:30 and stayed till about 6. There was still lots of empty spaces to accommodate us. The good news is we could enjoy happy hour specials. Dietary restrictions: Good choices for celiacs. Separate fryer.

Great views back over to Vancouver from the outdoor patio. Pizza was fantastic, as were the beers/cocktails! Good value too.

We recently held our staff party at Tap & Barrel Shipyards, and it was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with stunning views that add an extra touch of magic to the evening. The food was nothing short of amazing, and our server went above and beyond to ensure that our group was well taken care of Tap & Barrel Shipyards is the place to be. We ll definitely be back!

This restaurant is terrible. We were standing in line waiting to be called, but several people who came after us were seated first. My kids are really hungry, so I asked how much longer we d have to wait, and they just told me to wait a bit longer. Do you just prioritize seating for larger groups? Our group of four wasn t seated, and we ve been waiting for so long. I live nearby, and I regret coming here so often.

Sarah G was an excellent server, made sure my Friend with an allergy was all good and was very attentive and fast. Would 100% return to this location with this level of service!

I had the Caper Dill Salmon and it was by far the best meal I have had. The salmon just fell apart and was perfectly seasoned. The sauce was pure perfection. I had a nice beer and decided to have the fish and chips.. fish was thin and the batter was under cooked, still raw against the fillet to point i couldnt tell between fish and batter. The fries were even soggy. For a pub beside the ocean.... very dissappointed. But thought the building and atmosphere was appealing. I would return for a beer and enjoy the view.

I have had hit and miss experiences in this place. While I really tried to like it, some of the staff have not been that nice to me. And some of the food did not turn out that great. But because of the staff that was great, I will continue to give it a chance. I just have to really highlight that those days of being treated awfully really stuck with me and it is hard to get past it. I recommend the mac & cheese and the hummus with pita bread.

A friend of mine stopped in to the T & B yesterday in the late afternoon for just a drink as wed made dinner plans elsewhere. The day was very nice out and the place was busy. Still, we were promptly seated at a table we asked to be seated at by a very friendly hostess. Georgia was our server. Despite being very busy she was very polite, attentive and took the time to fully answer a number of questions we had about certain drinks we were interested in. Given that my friend and I just wanted to stop in for a quick drink and therefore be seated promptly and served quickly, this was definitely the right place to drop into. Georgia, thanks for the great service.

Really disappointing tonight! I have eaten here many times but tonight it was not good. The food I ordered was missing key ingredients (Mac and cheese with no cheese). They were quick to take it and remake it, but it took a while and by the time I got it my friends had all finished eating. No offer was made to comp the meal or provide a drink while I waited! And their machine still expected a minimum of 20% tip

We had lunch here yesterday and we were so lucky to have Anneliese taking care of us. She went above and beyond for me with my food allergies, even double checking with the kitchen that something was okay, and she was so knowledgeable about the menu and made a great recommendation re: garlic bread. Anneliese gave us great service; we never had to wait for anything and even though it was quite busy on the patio, she never seemed rushed. The food was delicious, the view was fantastic and we had a great time.

Highly recommend this location for hanging out with friends or dating. Tasty food, beers. I love drinking beers and having appetizers there.

Great customer service and management

Had an excellent dinner on the patio. Our waitress Georgia was great, friendly and helpful. We had two small children with us, she was quick to make sure we had what we needed. Great service and I recommend a visit, can t beat that patio!

We had Haley and Bri on two different occasions. They were both so kind and attentive. The food was great and you can t beat the view. This is a must try if you re in town. The sangrias are just delish I m gluten free and to find a pub with a gluten free menu is a huge find!!

I went to Tap and Barrel Shipyards with my friend during the afternoon, our server Kendra was absolutely amazing! She has such a vibrant personality and it really made our dining experience more welcoming. The food was amazing, and I loved the beer flights tap has to offer. Thanks Kendra for the great service!

Its always a fun time at the Tap & Barrel. Great spot there at the bottom of Lonsdale. It can accommodate large groups and theyre always seems to be room on the patio if you want that. Definitely check out their PBJ burger.

Big fan of the happy hour. In the summer they have a large patio that you can sit on and watch the world go by. Good selection of food and drinks.

EDIT: I did respond to the restaurant via email, as requested in their response below. It s been about a month with no reply, so I m a bit unclear what the point of that was. Also I can see Tap & Barrel staff checking out my LinkedIn profile from the day the reply was posted. Kind of creepy. *** I love the pizza. I kind of stopped coming here though, because lately I ve found the bar staff to be rather mean. Not just to me in general. I work from home so I usually go out alone and sit at the bar. I like to get out of the house for a bite, watch sports, maybe chat with someone, whatever. The last four times I ve been in I ve had some sort of negative experience or observed something. Most recently, I waited 40 minutes and never received so much as a menu or a drink refill. People on either side of me were served. One bartender had lots of time to be extra nice to her friends. Anyway, I finished my beer and decided to leave. When I paid, the bartender (not so subtlety) looked for my tip. When he didn t see one, gave me a dirty look and rolled his eyes. They were slammed, but still. The time before, I watched a bartender become visibly annoyed at the couple sitting next to me over a spilled beer. Huffing and sighing and just being very clear it was an issue. Another time I popped in recently for one drink on my way home from downtown, and when I went to pay the female bartender looked at me and loudly and sarcastically announced: Here s your tab for your ONE lager. What can I say? So sue me for stopping in for one. I could have stopped in for zero. FWIW, table service is always great. No idea what s going on at the bar though. Like seriously, what gives?

Me & my Friend were there June 8th Monday evening and our server was Mr.Jorden and he was very nice he knew what he s doing. He s new but the service he gave us we felt like he s working there from long time. Mr Crish was assisting him. Food was soooo good We love it and we are going back again this week.

I came out for dinner and I had Kim as my sever, I thought she was amazing. she made sure to check up on us and was always smiling, she was very understanding, and helpful. And she recommended to me the fried pickles, and they were awesome.

I went to this restaurant last night. We ordered different dishes. All of them were delicious. Nachos, burgers, salads, pizza, fish and chips. The beers were great. Atmosphere was so good. Staff so friendly and professional. Highly recommend. Food

I do not like this place, it is very bad and not good. Water tastes like pipes, the noise is very noisy, very much flies, food(mid), one time the food just didn t come, waiters are okay(where are all the hot people) I would rather not be here. My experience made my day less good. Sprite was not real

This business is ran by bunch of granola kids - spending even a penny will be a moran move. 6 ppl got there and our food was wrong- late- cold- very poor quality - worse than that a women who was our server was the highlight that I can t even describe what they so called server. Most horrible experience we had there . She literally left us while deciding to order food - they simply ruined our time what a waste of time even talking about it -

Our server Sarah was super friendly and had an awesome attitude and was super helpful. She recommended some excellent drinks, attentive service, and even took the time to joke with us and keep the vibe high! My friend and I had an especially good time at Tap and Barrels esp cause of her!

Amazing service! Georgia was very kind, patient and helpful with all our questions.

Went for lunch with a friend on a Saturday, while an event was being held in the area but only waited 10 minutes to be seated. Our waiter was hilarious with us and great at his job. (I forgot my receipt so I didn t catch his name, but he s got glasses and flowy hair!). Our margaritas were yummy and the food was delicious. Great place, great staff, great atmosphere.
