Visited here on a Sunday morning around 10am - place looks very cute from outside and located in a local neighborhood. I think this place has a lot of potential but the experience fell short during my visit. - Firstly, there were very limited selection of food available during the visit in the display case and multiple items in the breakfast menu not available. Display case was almost empty (3 cookies and < 15 items in fridge). Breakfast menu (benny / scramble eggs etc) also was not all available. Avocado toast and benny were not available and shop keeper doesn’t seem to know the menu well. - I don’t think that I visited during off hours which might contribute to this issue.. However, beyond the above, there were some many fruit flies everywhere when I sit down to eat which made the visit quite unpleasant. I was really looking forward to the visit as I think this place has a lot of potential but between the unpreparedness of staff and unclean environment I will not be returning any time soon for coffee/breakfast. Noted the place also has a small fridge with selection of convenience store like items (canned beverages, milk) which I imagine is convenient if you live in the neighborhood.
We ordered a burger and pasta, and both dishes were delicious—just like homemade food. The staff there are very kind and welcoming. The only downside was that the portion size of the burger and salad was a little small.
A great time at Corner Stone's live music night! Dawn Pemberton was undoubtedly the showstopper of the evening, but the food and service was also fantastic. Had the salmon with salad, and it did not disappoint. Really cute spot in the middle of the neighbourhood!
I visited the Corner Stone before and after the renovations. Prior it was a nice place to grab a rather affordable brunch. After the renovations (which look amazing) I was a bit annoyed by the service, which took over 5 minutes to even get acknowledged and seated with a mostly empty restaurant. Once seated I got friendly service, however the food left much to be desired. I ordered the chilaquiles (divorced to try both salsas) and I've never been so underwhelmed by a version of this dish. The salsa was cold and tasted like it was from a bottle. Chilaquiles are supposed to be served hot after stewing the tortillas briefly in the hot salsa, and that was what I was expecting. The refried beans likewise seemed like they were from a can and were bland. For the price I paid it was a disappointing meal. Perhaps it was an off day, but it is unlikely I will be back.
Amazing local coffee shop with great coffee, sandwiches and sweets. The scones, although not overly sweet, were incredibly tasty. The cozy atmosphere was so pleasant, as well. Highly recommended.
I loved the food and the atmosphere so much! The open space really emphasized the great neighbourhood! The food was slow to be served but, nevertheless, I recommend trying out their their breakfast menu!! I will definitely be coming back here again :)
Cute little bistro nestled in a fairly residential area of North Vancouver. They also have a small grocery store section. The Mexican Benny had tasty crumbled chorizo and the side order of bacon was perfectly crispy. While the hash browns weren't exactly crispy, they were still pretty good and worked well to sop up the sauce and runny yolks. Ham and cheese breakfast bowl was quite filling. The food seemed to take a while to come out so a good idea to order something to drink while you wait like the London Fog or hot chocolate with whipped cream.
Was hoping to try out the brunch menu here but it was not offered on the day we visited. We were limited to the display case items and pre-made sandwiches. I was pleasantly surprised with the creamy latte that had a smooth finish using beans from JJ Bean. The Turkey Brie sandwich was also tasty. Looks like a fun neighbourhood spot to visit in the summer when you can sit out on the patio. It is also serves as store that carries pre-made soups, drinks, candies, chips and other packaged items.
Advertised (on website and at the door!) as open until 5:00 on Saturday. Show up at 4:30. Door locked. Why?
Was a great place I make it back to Canada I will definitely visit there again
We use to love this place but it s under new management and the service we experienced was truly terrible.
I felt at home. Excellent coffee.
I came a year ago, in that time food was ok and service was slow. I came again (Sunday morning around 9:15) and I waited more than 45 minutes for breakfast for 4 people, the place was pretty empty. Chilaquiles were a little dry and salsas were with no salt, beans were kind of cold, side salads were with not flavor, just olive oil and that s it. Definitely needs a lot of improvement, but I hardly come back.
Good brunch options and amazing staff.
I happened to be nearby, so I went into the restaurant to take a break. The staff in the store are very polite, but the latte art technique requires more practice.
Average place honestly.
Got a chorizo burrito. Wasnt the best ive ever had, maybe a bit of salsa needed and a tad high on the price but i would get it again. It was wholesome with what feels like home made ingredients, crispy shell and perfectly warmed. Some places heat it up and its cold in the centre at some places and overly hot on the outside, but this was great. As a grab and go, i would recommend this place.
Loved the food, the atmosphere is cute and lovely and I love that they do live music and events weekly. The service was extremely slow. Very friendly and kind, but not seen a lot.
Amazing food ! Has been a go to brunch spot for me as always ! Adriano is amazing and he is so thoughtful providing us the best service , he even brought us some different hot sauce to try as I request for some hot sauce! I really appreciate that ! Thank you Corner Stone for always doing the best with your food! Thank you Adriano for your best service!
100% recommended, everything very delicious, excellent service, very pleasant atmosphere
Excellent service, the best chilaquiles and very delicious coffee, all highly recommended!! Go and try..
Nice decent latte
Its good
Service is slow. Overheard people saying the same to the server. Food is overpriced but location is cool, atmosphere is good
Love this place Thank u Johnathan Food
Great little spot for some food and snacks
Great pastries! I have also had lunch there it was very good. In the summer, you won t want to miss Taco Tuesdays. Highly recommend.
Every time I go with my friends they say that the kitchen is closed for breakfast . One day we arrived at 11 am and the waitress apologized , that the chef has to leave early , so there are no breakfasts. We understood, next time we went there at 9:30 am and the same story, they rush us to order, as a favour they will cook something , because the kitchen was closing , at 9:40 Am???
Lovely lunch spot
The perfect lunch spot.
We went for brunch on a weekend and while a busy, bustling place, we had no trouble getting a table and our food (the Bridgeman special) came so quickly. Great tasting food, very affordable, and such a welcome environment. Plan to come back to try their pastries
Cute little coffee shop/Bistro with some groceries and liquor. They do live music too and have a beautiful patio. Located in a small wooded neighborhood, where the locals make their routine coffee trips or enjoy the occasional brunch. Great coffee, amazing food (they make pastries from scratch) and have a seasonal dinner menu. Friendly service, and lots of space to lounge and study. They have a covered outdoor patio too, and a frozen section with homemade soups, lasagnas, and Sheppards pie which have saved me from making dinner a few times! Thank you for existing!
Service, ambience, coffee, food, neighborhood All rank five stars in my books.
Great breakfast menu and delicious food! Amazing place in a cute neighborhood
Very nice neighborhood restaurant with tasty dishes and a good choice of beer and coffee. Nice terrace and excellent service.
Such a cute place with a patio for brunch! The new owners are awesome and very sweet! The menu has a variety of options, including Mexican dishes
Cute corner cafe in a neighborhood. We had 6 adults together there for brunch outside under the umbrella on the patio. Our server was friendly and attentive to us. We all really enjoyed our flavorful brunch items with very generous portions. We are on holiday but heard the cafe recently remodeled and is under new management or ownership. It looks nice with in & outside seating. Seemed to attract some delightful locals. You should try it! Also had some small grocery items in one corner and some prepared meals to go. Had a little section of candy and frozen desserts.
Water
Breakfast/brunch served until 1pm.
My husband and I enjoed two breakfasts at the corner store bistro while holidaying in Nth Vancouver. The staff were so friendly and professional. Food was excellent on the first day - we ordered one of the mexican inspired meals and then a more traditinal big breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash etc. The second day we ordered pancakes. The staff were excellent as they noticed we hadn t eaten them all. They asked if we were happy with them and when we commented that they were a bit dry and overcooked they were apologetic and offered to give us the meal for free. Amazing services and overall the food was good. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Will come back if were ever in Vancouver again.
Good place with great mexi breakfast fare. Nice staff. The pancakes were a bit shabby one day but they didnt charge us which was appreciated.
Cute little cafe hidden in the neighborhood that didnt come up on my first search for breakfast. Service was very good and the food was too. We sat outside and the weather made it so enjoyable. I didnt even know they had a small grocery section inside until I went to pay.
Toast was burnt Service was non-existent Eggs were good at least Food : 2/5
I ve been coming here for years, today I got the usual breakfast wrap only this time there was no meat inside, which is the reason I would always get the wrap because of the tasty pork and potato . It was simply eggs, spinach, and cheese. Disappointing I hope someone just forgot to put the meat in and they didn t change the wrap?
Amazing Mexican. 100% recommend
Just omg... wow. So tasty so crisp, so happy. The colors, the lighting, the food quality and the service were incredible.
Underrated, hidden little gem in North Vancouver. Delicious food, friendly/fast service, cute ambience and view of trees/fall colors. Delicioso, muchas gracias!
Delicious place to eat, have a beer, everything is very delicious, I highly recommend coming to try everything, affordable prices, in general everything is excellent
Coffee is weak. Standard fare food.
great atmosphere!
I recommend.
Nice cozy place. Loved their Christmas decorations!
We ordered from the special Mexican Fiesta menu tonight. Mexican bowl, enchilada and tacos - all with fish. Then for dessert the most authentic Churros y Chocolada I ve had since Spain 30 years ago. Thank you.
The Best Coffe in North Van! Excellent Service! And the Best place for Family Brunch! Highly Recommended!
Beautiful french bistro, very cozy and local with welcoming staff. Food was also really good. I had the ham and cheese breakfast bowl which was very delicious with a good portion. I also tried a decaf oat milk latte which was great. Overall a good experience.
Cute und Comfy Place for food and drinks :)
Incredibly disappointing. The photos others have taken of the mac and cheese look delicious however what I was served was poor quality pasta (reminiscent of Kraft ) in some kind of fake cheese sauce with a weird texture. My husband got a sandwich with soggy bread, a confused mashup evoking banh mi and Mediterranean chicken sandwich. Can t comment on the dinner menu, but the lunch did not match the promising exterior/interior.
Last time we visited, although food was fine, an early dinner was made unpleasant because of noise from a number of home renovators at the next table ending their work day with a beer or three, maybe more. Tried again on a Friday evening in April. Arrived at 8 pm expecting an hour before the closing time shown on their webpage was adequate for a quick bite. Staff informed us the kitchen was closed. I suggested their webpage should indicate that fact. Staff member seemed unconcerned.
Cute spot right by the trails. Great food at great prices!
Lovely and cozy place to grab a delicious lunch at or just meet a friend over coffee. They have some lovely outdoor space, and the staff is always friendly. Their sandwiches and bakery products are very tasty!
Had a great sandwich from here today. Would return in a heartbeat!
Great food, well priced, nice chill atmosphere
Breakfast burrito is perfect. Real eggs, awesome sausage, what more could you ask for.
Great coffee and great atmosphere
Quaint neighborhood spot with fresh handmade food, a great wine selection and live music on Thursday s. BTW- best coffee.
Waiting an hour for mediocre eggs Benny. Very inattentive staff. Not busy at all but tables left dirty.
Wonderful pet friendly corner cafe with good brunch. The food is homey and fresh--we shared the pancakes, savory breakfasts, as well as glasses of fresh OJ. Its just what a perfect summer Sunday morning is made of!
Top notch neighborhood spot
Cosy spot in the neighborhood with some lovely tarts and sandwiches
The Bistro is a gem. It is located tucked away in Pemberton Heights. It is somewhat eclectic but is very enjoyable. Dont be in a hurry tho. The food is worth the wait.
Nice environment and good choice of breakfast and egg bennys.
Home-y vibes at this cute location. A little annoying that they prompted me for an 18, 20, or 25 % tip when buying a coffee at the front counter but oh well. Top 40 music playing. Love the covered patio and I know they support local artists during their live music nights
Cozy-looking neighbourhood restaurant with lots of seating. We went to have lunch on a weekday and there was no service for dine-in and no signs saying to order at the counter. The breakfast burrito - their best dish - was boring, with virtually no sausage and too much potatoes. The only redeeming factor was the coffee-flavored yule log and the strong JJ Beans coffee. Was disappointed and misled by the good reviews. Wont be returning.
Nice little place and the food is fantastic.
Loved the cozy warm ambience and friendly staff. Not to mention the awesome food. Go and get an experience that is rare to have these days!!
I love this little store/ bistro! Food is good and its very warm and friendly. The frozen meals have saved my life! Im looking forward to when they have longer hours for summer.
One of the best bistro s and corner stores across the entire North Shore! And even during COVID-19 it is still a lovely place to be to safely dine at, I HIGHLY Recommend it!
The girl attention was wonderful. But good not so good and expensive. Is far from really mexican food.
Nice little shop in residential area
Quality food with great variety. Made to order, frozen meals and basic food staples
Friend took me my first lunch here today. Staff let us know that our order may take a bit longer than usual as soon as we ordered, understandable, its not a perfect world! This is the kind of customer service that keeps me coming back. The wait was no trouble-they have a lovely patio and comfy chairs. The crispy chicken burger was DELICIOUS.
Wonderful neighbourhood stop.. baked goods, snacks , meals and coffee are all on the menu . Good selection of take home and bake meals too ..
A hidden gem in Pemberton Heights. A coffee shop bistro with a twist. You can buy some homemade frozen soups, stews and lasagne...a carton of milk or a bottle of wine. Or you can order a burger, a wrap, a sandwich, a pastry or any one of their coffees. Extra outdoor seating for the moment. A pleasant surprise.
On my regular walking route...my go-to. Great coffee...and always some sort of delectable delight to go with it...sandwiches, quiche, cakes, cookies, muffins. Wonderful frozen meals to take home also. Lovely outside ambience.
Soo.....the food is excellent. The service was really bad unfortunately. Id say its 2.5 stars with the service we had. Smaller kitchen which I totally understand. But we stood st the door waiting for anyone to ask if we wanted a seat for 25 min. Waited for coffee order for 20 min, never got a warm up of my coffee. Even after she announced the coffee was bottomless. People who sat after us got their food before us. The holindaise sauce was unfortunately not good. Thick, curdled, tasteless and cold.
Lovely customer service, the cutest location to sit outside and a VERY, VERY GOOD chicken brie cranberry toast!
Tasty sandwiches, nice selection of wraps, home made soups, daily lunch specials, soup and sandwich deal daily. Corner store shopping as well i.e. milk and other dairy. Frozen home made soups and the like. Friendly staff, indoor and outdoor seating available reasonably pricing too
Cozy neighborhood gem. We enjoy everything from coffee to dinner.
Live Music returns to North Vancouver at the Corner Stone. Artist Taylor James is amazing. Food, Beverage and Entertainment all available is this cultural gem hidden in Pemberton Heights.
Most enjoyable...community live music in a good place...
A real hidden gem in a really nice part of North Van
The girl that served me has Zero personality. Machine starts at 18% tip.Typical melinial Does like the money though. No smiles, nothing at all. But hey, can you give me a great tip.
A hidden gem. If you can find it. Great coffee. Awesome patio.
Great neighborhood deli sandwich
Little find, yummy sandwiches. local vibe.
Great service and clean. Coffee excellent
Amazing food and service. Cute neighborhood restaurant. Give it a try.
This is the most elegant neighbourhood grocery store/coffee shop/licensed restaurant ever located in a residential area, Pemberton Heights. The owners are delightful and the staff are awesome too! The Corner Stone offers great food, outdoor patio seating, and even live local entertainment at times. Definitely worth discovering!
We are loving the fabulous selection of frozen food meet at the restaurant. Especially love Lasagna, burritos, potato cauliflower ham with cheese. So glad we found this gem during Covid times. Highly recommend.
The staff are very kind! I love this local cafe!
We had the lamb and mashed potatoes and the salmon with risotto, delicious!
Lovely shop!! Feel right at home in an oasis of a community patio/cafe/resto.
Good food and service in a quiet neighborhood
Brunch menu is delicious. Friendly, conscientious staff. Plenty of space, ventilation and outdoor seating.
Lovely little spot for breakfast. Sat out on the patio enjoying the sunshine. Oh yah....great food too!
Awesome Spot
Was ok.
Perfect portions, great food.
Used to be great but it s rapidly gone down hill in the last few months. Food is now clearly generic and pre-packaged when it used to be made from scratch. Last straw was a super disappointing brunch, what once was a most delicious homemade hollandaise in the eggs Benny is now from a packet. The homemade delicious hash browns are now from a freezer and the final straw - horrible dry wonder bread with literally no butter. As a local it s super disappointing I Won t be coming back
Love visiting the cornerstone any time I m in vancouver. Amazing food and atmosphere. Love this place!!!
Amazing place, hot chocolate and coffee were delicious. This was the first time we visited the place and the staff really made us feel welcomed (cheers to Tracy and Susie) we will be visiting the place a lot. Mac & cheese was very good. Also they sell frozen soups, our favorite to take home was the hamburger soup if you try it you will love it
Best Corner Dyone you can have in ur neighborhood. Great ambience, food and friendly staff too
Amazing little place
Fantastic place and great quality food!
Corner stone of the neighbourhood
Interesting place a cross over of corner store, and restaurant. Food was ok, service was mediocre but a good place to hang out and grab a coffee.
So adorable and charming with nostalgic live music and delicious dishes in a cozy place. Highly recommended to all.
In the corner stone with their fantastic food and great Customer service we had a memorable birthday party.
Amazing hospitality and incredibly flavourful food in the middle of a suburban neighbourhood.
Lovely corner to grab a quick bite. It s nice and cozy. Don t expect actual breakfast to be made just sandwiches and paninis! Coffee and desert . Nice place seat and have a coffee or tea. Quiet place
Good coffee, nice outdoor seating
So my family and I are renting an air b&b in the neighborhood and I decided to grab a coffee here. My first impression was that it was a very cute comfortable shop, that didnt last long. I walked up to the counter and the women working the counter who I think might be new was asking another women who worked there about tips, I waited so as to not disrupt there conversation as I wasnt in a hurry. I waited, there conversation ended and she still didnt acknowledge me so I said hi. I ordered my 3 drop coffees and paid and tipped(I worked for a coffee company for 10 years so I always like to tip I know the struggle) I got the feeling that she was irrataed with me or that I was bugging her by ordering. Here is where my experience went from not great to extremely poor. I was handed back the coffees and they all had maybe 3 inches or room so I asked for more coffee in one of them as I dont take cream. As I was waiting the women passed my coffee to a gentleman and he filled it with hot water he was standing next to the women so Im sure he gets me when I said I dont take cream can I have more coffee, I mean I clearly was not in a rush I would not have minded waiting 5 minutes for a fresh pot, but they didnt ask. This is just lazy in my opinion. This kind of place seems like it would grow its customer base from the local residents so my review might not mean much to them but I was extremely disappointed as a former barista myself and a customer.
Cozy place to grab a coffee or sandwich in the neighborhood.
We went to this restaurant on Thursday the 18th for breakfast. We read reviews online and it was OUTSTANDING! The breakfast burritos were the best weve ever eaten! We loved it. I also tried a healthy carrot and fruit muffin that was delicious! Wish we could have eaten here more than once! It was terrific!
Wonderful cozy and friendly place. A plus: food is really good :)
The very best egg sandwiches youve ever dreamed of. Lunch anyone.
This neighborhood corner deli is a couple minutes from Capilano Suspension Bridge. Small place. Sandwiches pre-made but they are wonderful. The friendly staff offered to grill the chicken & brie sandwich. Have cash.
A jolly good place to eat or just have a coffee. They have live music on some evenings which is worth checking out.
We went there because it was one of the best rated restaurants in the area. Comfort food sounded great. We arrive at lunch time and the kitchen was not open. The posted menu did not exist. Innacurate online information
Great little place for a casual meal or coffee. Friendly staff, decent selection of food offerings. Out of the way location gives it a country feel. ...r
Super good food.
Loved it!!!! Great service and amazing jazz night with delicious food ;)
Delicious food and a lovely cozy atmosphere.
Nice little shop sandwiches per made and coffee kinda over charge but its in north Vancouver so to be expected but worth the price
Went here for brunch, after viewing the prices on their website. See below. Once we arrived everything was actually $3-4 more. Very long wait to order at the counter. Then coffee never came. Then food came out one plate at a time, kids food painfully last, no cutlery even after asking at the counter, they only had one fork. Finally they forgot the kids eggs. Staff seemed very disorganized. Very disappointing and misleading website. P.s - we were also excited about the Ooey Gooey Cinnamon rolls advertised on the large sign outside, but there wasnt any...
Amazing services amazing food will be back for more. From Penticton BC
Cute place for a sandwich and a beverage!
Typically I am a fan of the ostentatious. Ill even go as far as to say that I am a fan of the gawdy as well. So when i stumble upon a quaint and cozy diner situated in the established Capilano area I dont expect to find an establishment that does it for me. Im glad I was surprised The Corner Stone Bistro is a former corner store that has been re-purposed into a breakfast/brunch establishment for the wild and ramble rousing miscreants, of the surrounding area. It boasts a thorough breakfast/brunch menu with a variety of staple amd unique items to envelop your palate. My standard for any diner is how it does its take on the classic- eggs, potatoes, bacon, coffee and toast. I was delightfully surprised with their take on this by how the cook had made my scrambled (real) eggs with cream and the potatoes with a delicious parsley and candied onion mix. The bacon, while crisp I found bland until mixed with one of their multitude of chipotle sauces. The toast is a whole grain slice that doesnt need butter....just jam baby, just jam. The service of this restaurant is a gathering neer do well millenials from various parts of the world. Needless to say the combination of the aforementioned rabble-rousin clientele in combination with these good-for-nothing hard-working slackers made me fear for my life. I just felt so....whats the word.....comfortable. I appreciate oppulence as much as the next person but the stripped down yet still sophisticated and cozy atmosphere of this venue would make me definitely want to share this place with a close friend or significant other. I hope you choose the Corner Stone and when you do....make sure you tell them Saint James sent you
Great little place to enjoy sunshine outside
Ok coffee. Ok service. Ok food. Ok ambiance. All around, OK. Just another coffee shop in Van, but not one of the best. Not by far. Good as a neighbourhood quick stop.
The French chef is very talented, the dishes are delicious, the atmosphere is friendly and the service is smiling and attentive! I recommend
If youre from the neighbourhood, hugs and kisses, if not, prepare to be ignored. I want to love this place; its a quaint corner store with a dinning section and a patio in the middle of a residential neighbourhood. We like to pop in for a beer on the days my son plays baseball and we quite often buy a coffee for morning practice; they are just down the street from the ball park. The last few visits have not been pleasant and I believe the last visit was our last. I dont mind slow service in a busy joint, especially if the ambience is right, but when youre the only one sitting in the dinning section for 10 minutes as they look at you and pass by you several times, its uncomfortable. I dont know if its posturing or nose stuck up in the air. Do they do it for effect?? Recessions usually take care of places like this, but who knows, their arrogance may be justified as they are in a nice spot and as I said, hugs and kisses to those they recognize...
Awesome local joint. Great small local atmosphere.
Great little local, good food and reasonably priced for a casual dining experience
Almost like a little neighborhood starbucks, the bistro offers even more! It has your morning coffee, scones, sandwiches and other assorted beverages. It also serves the role of being a conrner store!!! Go get your morning eggs, or milk when you need them in a pinch.
Delicious light meals and snacks, but the candy selection has shrunk significantly recently. :-(
Delicious breakfast with an unassuming corner store atmosphere and and sunny patio
Great summer menu. Dinner salad had huge assortment of fresh & grilled veggies. Large portions. So nice to have this gem in my neighborhood. Bonus that they serve wine or beer.
Absolutely delicious. Everything.
We stopped by mid afternoon, post lunch. The cling film wrapped BLT I choose contained sad lettuce and a long black hair. Because I m British I didn t complain, a passive aggressive review will have to suffice. Oat / chocolate fudge desert was delicious as was the beer.
A rare find.
Nice cosy spot for coffee, which has a great selection of goodies if needed. Great seating area, lovely tables and chairs. Street parking was no problem as it is not in a busy area. Love to go back anytime.
Great food, wonderful people, awesome evening
Awesome selection of great food!
Stumbled across here on my way home. Breakfast burrito was unreal! Good coffee, great staff. Again that burrito, unreal!
Great neighborhood corner store and bistro restaurant. Cozy and friendly.
Best sandwich ever! Grilled Chicken Brie on cranberry bread, so good! Only have a pic of the delicious lattes and banana bread
Good coffee
Coffee and superfruit muffin!!...delicious
Friendly team. Nice cookies.
Great place thats hidden away
Awesome little bistro.
Just left my ex mother in laws 93rd birthday. The food service and owners were amazing! Asked about gluten free options and suddenly there it was! Soooo delish! What a wonderful experience. Thank you.
I really like coming here with my girlfriend for lattes and snacks.
Cozy atmosphere and delicious food!!
