Tommy's Cafe in North Vancouver

We recently used Tommy s Catering to cater a party of 30 in our home in North Vancouver. The food was delicious and plentiful. A highlight was having all the food gluten free. Devki s conscientious service and attention to detail made our event stress free. Best decision we ever made was to have Tommys cater our event. We highly recommend Tommys if you need a fabulous catering service. Dietary restrictions: Tommys had a wide selection of Gluten Free options.

Nice little cafe. We had the Ocean Spray and the Blue Bayou burger, and both were delicious. Very pleasant atmosphere and staff

The Ocean Spray sandwich (chicken with cranberries) was very good. Next time I will ask them not to toast the bread.

Paper in the bottom of the pasta?! I ordered two Alfredos Through DoorDash and in one container while I was eating the Pasta there was a paper on the bottom of the container

Love The Tommy s! Having a family run local restaurant within the Lynn Valley Centre area is so beneficial; no long drives to other areas on the Shore. This is a wonderful spot for Breakfast, Lunch and now Dinner with comfort food and a cozy atmosphere. It s my Daddy-Daughter date spot!

I love Tommy s I have been going here for as long as I can remember since I was little I would go with my dad he would get a coffee to go and a breakfast sandwich, sometimes we would go eat at Tommy s and we would share eggs Benny they have the best eggs Benny on the north shore nothing comparison to their hollandaise sauce it s my FAVOURITE!! OG Tommy s customer since the 2000 ! Ravi is still the chef there he is a OG back when Trish and Rick owned Tommy s, the new owners of Tommy s are amazing ! They have kept the menu the same also added some delicious new items, they are so friendly and kind I absolutely love Tommy s and we ll always be my favourite breakfast and brunch spot !

Worst breakfast I ve ever had in my entire life, Totally disappointing because I ve ate here before and the food has always been OK to decent, I got the French toast today from DoorDash, and instead of showing up as advertised, it was a completely different bread, The French toast itself was so dry. It was entirely inedible, and the side of sautéed saucy strawberries came as under ripe plain sliced strawberries. The entire thing was just so disappointing. I had one bite and just didn t bother to continue forcing myself to eat something so unenjoyable.

Very nice brunch bar tucked away inside of a brick buildings lower floor, very tasty and expansive menu options with fair pricing on all items, food was filling and well prepared. My only suggestion is to go at less busy hours as they have few tables to seat large groups at, best for casual meetups with a few friends or a brunch date. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian add ins/substitutions available on request. Parking: Hard to find, but easy to remember, around a corner nestled away like a secret spot. Kid-friendliness: I wouldnt take a small child here or a kid with manner difficulties but its more than suitable for 13+. Wheelchair accessibility: Mild difficulty but would be assisted, staff are very friendly.

Bit claustrophobic I side but the food is good.

If you like sitting and getting no help for 15 minutes when the place is more than half empty is wild. Do not recommend

The food is good and Ive ordered over the years several times. However, when using DoorDash you cant leave any special instructions...heres a tip...you sell eggs and folks need to specify how they like them done (a basic)...I have to call the restaurant to specify and its a pain in the ass. In addition, what kind of a breakfast establishment doesnt sell fruit; not even as a side...at least not on DoorDash? Heres the kicker...three times in a row theyve forgotten to include cutlery that Ive specifically asked for...Hello White Spot across the street, perhaps youll have a little more attention to detail than Tommys Forgetful Fruit Free Cafe...not impressed...Update: I gave Tommys one more chance and this time they forgot the condiments I specifically asked for and was assured theyd be included. They werent. I dont even think that this restaurant has containers or take-out condiments on hand...they even taped the serviette around the cutlery rendering it unusable...

Very awesome spot! Great Vegan options. Breakfast- vegan bowl was so good. I was so full! Lots of Tofu and Miso Gravy was delicious, double check butter on the toast, I m not 100% sure if I asked if it was vegan. They also customized a breakfast burrito for my wife to make it vegan, she loved it Lunch- vegan beyond burger, fettuccini is also vegan

We have dined here several times and but I keep forgetting to write a review, until now! A literal hole in the wall but you will never regret visiting. The food is always delicious, the service is unparalleled and you get good value. I highly recommend!

I recently visited Tommy s and the vibe was exactly what I needed after a long walk in Lynn Canyon. Food was delicious, burger and wings were fantastic. On top of it, service was spectacular. Jayshree was very well accommodating and had such a sweet energy. I will be back!

Vegan option on the menu is a plus. Accommodated the kids to offer items not on current menu was a plus. Alcoholic drinks were super lite. The bench seating that we sat at was radiating heat - It was 90 outside. The place had a small bar feel. The restrooms were double doored, but the smell was quite strong. Could be a cute place. But could also be better.

Ordered a Tommyhash Bowl through DoorDash at 10:19 am and it showed up at my house at 10:41 am. I called the restaurant to complain about how overdone my eggs were and the lady on the phone blamed it on how long the driver took to get to me. This makes no sense since only 22 minutes elapsed between the time I placed the order and when it arrived, including the cook time which is around 10 minutes. This woman initially wasn t going to offer me any compensation until I insisted I wanted them to remake it to which she obliged. Then when I came to pick it up, I realized the offer was only for a 50% credit which I think is extremely stingy and unfair. You mess up my food to where it s inedible and now I have to pay again just to enjoy the meal I already paid for. I don t know any other restaurants that do that so I will be avoiding Tommy s Cafe from now on.

The brunch menu offers a wonderful variety of options, catering to all tastes. I opted for the Tyson ham with poached eggs , while my friend tried the Kiev. Both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. The Tyson ham was perfectly seasoned, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. With a rich and creamy hollandaise sauce that complemented the perfectly poached eggs and . Would like to visit again The Service was excellent!

Went for dinner tonight for the first time, we ve gone many times for breakfast over the years but recently they opened for dinner as well. It was great! Lynn Valley needs more dinner spots so I m excited to have found another one. We all had burgers and they were delicious. Service was great too. Will definitely come again.

My wife and I had breakfast at Tommy s Café, and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed morning meal. The food was delicious and served promptly, but what really made our experience stand out was the outstanding service from Sara, our server. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. We ll definitely be back! Highly recommended for a great breakfast spot.

First time there. It was a good surprise and it was just around the corner so very convenient. Will be going back to try some additional breaks, lunch ... coffee was good as well.

Worst delivery I ve ever had. I ordered the fettuccine fire roasted pepper and it tasted like absolutely awful. It was so bad it made me feel nauseous just eating it. The garlic bread tasted like freezer burn, too. If I received this dish in a restaurant I would send it back, and I have never sent back a dish in my entire life. Not sure about the drinks, maybe they re fine! But the food was an absolute abomination. Please take your hard earned money and spend it on food you will actually be able to stomach!

I need to say we were a bit surprised seeing asian type of food offered by this small cafe. We had an extremely delicious soup (Soup of the day), my wife had a sandwich and I took a bowl. Everything was very fine looking and tasty. The two ladies were really kind and gave their best, so for them it is definitely 5* rating. In the inside, everything was clean and tidy, including the restroom. Maybe some investments into the equipment would be fine.

We just finished dinner at Tommys. Service, Food and Atmosphere was excellent. I highly recommend Tommys. We will definately be going back there soon. Thanks to all the staff for making the eveing memorable.

*Updated* The staff are still wonderful people and the food is still great. But theyve renovated to a much more inviting decor and theyve expanded their menu and hours to include dinner! Still working my way through the new offerings, but so far everything is still prepared with their usual high level of care and served with a friendly smile. If you havent been here yet, youre truly missing out!

a gem!

The place is not what it used to be - think Tommy s circa 2010. I ve visited Tommy s on and off over the years hoping to experience it as it was when I was a Lynn Valley residing regular. And I know times change and ownership has changed a couple of times but the charm of the divey, serve yourself coffee and 80s nostalgia movie playing in the corner that made Tommy s a great place to go, are no longer. Some menu items have remained the same and the food is good overall. I think I could ve enjoyed the food more if I hadn t been distracted by other details: having to ask for water (given limited table space, maybe they refrain from bringing this right after patrons are seated), poached eggs turning up to the table swimming in a pool of their cooking liquid, even if it is served in its own ramekin. The music didn t fit the space at all - slow jazzy covers of todays top 20, the condiments are hard to get out and put back into their baskets without knocking other items over on the tiny tables even before the huge plates have arrived to take up most of the room on the table. With a little more care for the smaller details, the Tommy s of 2024 could be much more charming.

My friend and I had dinner this evening and the service was top notch, the food was tasty, I had butter chicken, my friend enjoyed her dinner very much too. I live in Lynn Valley and will definitely going back. Next time I will have brunch. I used to go a lot before COVID for brunch and the food was always good. Im sure brunch will also be good under new ownership, most of the brunch menu is the same as before.

Went for breakfast with my gf and had a very pleasant experience. They have pretty classic breakfast options. I tried the waffles with scrambled eggs and bacon. Was exactly what I was looking for. We went earlier because we were going for a hike and it wasnt too busy at the time. If youre looking for a nice little breakfast spot, would recommend this one

Super cozy little hole in the wall with great service, delicious food and a very warm friendly atmosphere. Had the crab Benny and a Virginia bloody Mary, delicious. Especially love their hashbrowns are large russet potato chunks, that are perfectly crispy and airy. 10/10 would recommend Kid-friendliness: Had the big comfy couch playing on the TV, definitely kid appropriate place.

New management. Aesthetic improvements. Feels more Lonsdale-y than Lynn Valley now. Even the artwork is of the other side North Van. Food is still good just vibes + service is different. Went here with my kiddo, she loved her waffles, whipped cream, and strawberries. New management. The sausages were not good, and they do not do alcohol before 11. They should try to get an alcohol permitwith earlier hours so breakfast Caesars and Baileys can be enjoyed, like under previous management. I recommend they source out better sausages. Atmosphere was nice. People came in after us were served faster, but it happens. Excited for this to become a dinner place too!

One of the few brunch places in Lynn Valley. Its a small local business, parking in the back, the street, or across and underground of the library. Small patio outside in the summer. Only open during breakfast brunch hours. I didnt have to wait long at all during weekend brunch. Wish the portions were bigger!

Unfortunately I am very disappointed in what Tommy s has become. Ownership has changed recently and the quality has gone downhill. We went for brunch and ordered medium poached eggs. The eggs came out hard boiled. When I pointed out that the eggs were over cooked, our server started to argue that they were properly cooked medium and it was my mistake, that I should ve ordered soft. Gaslit by the waitress. Also, they don t toast the English muffins anymore. Another institution of the neighbourhood gone.

Stopped by on my electric bike, 10 mins to closing, where the super friendly staff welcomed me in and made me a lovely poached egg breakfast spread and coffee. Highly recommend this lovely brunch location...

Such a cute centric café. Service was great. Meals came out in a timely matter. Food was reasonably priced. Surprisingly really good drip coffee. The staff there were amazing and so kind. Would recommend for a friends casual breakfast! Hole in the wall diner.

French toast was $20 , two pieces of bread. Won t make that mistake again. Actually bread was 15 because strawberries and whip were extra .

The pan fries are probably some of the worst potatoes Ive put in my mouth, cold, hard, and dry... The rest of my food was cold too, eggs and a waffle.. its overpriced for the quality.

Pathetic take out service - very slow

Visited here for the first time. It was easy finding the restaurant and they have parking but limited. I like the vibe of the restaurant. It takes you back in time to old diners. It wasn t busy when we visited. Servers were friendly and pays attention to orders. Food came in a reasonable amount of time. I m quite surprised about the serving because its quite a lot for the price, or maybe i m just so used to having smaller portions. The food was good, nothing crazy but it was good. The washroom was clean even if it looks vintage. The restaurant is well kept. I hope the locals keep supporting them. I know I will, so i ll definitely be back!

I must admit, I had reservations initially about the place being in a small location. However, the moment I stepped inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff greeted me with a cheerful attitude. Moreover, the moment I took a bite, it was absolutely delightful. Tommy s Cafe is wonderful! I couldn t resist ordering the smoked salmon Benedict and coffee, and it hit the spot. For around $20, it was not only yummy but super filling too! The staff there are so chill and friendly, making the whole experience even better. The only thing that could make it cozier is adding more art on the walls and some jazz music to vibe with. It wasn t busy during Friday brunch, so I had a relaxing time. Plus, supporting a small business like Tommy s is good for us and good for them. Getting there was a breeze with easy transit access. All in all, Tommy s Cafe is a lovely spot! I totally recommend it for some chill vibes and delicious eats.

I had the BLT. Nice amount of bacon, thick cut. Tomatoes were fresh and didnt have the woody center tomatoes can sometimes have. Lettuce was crisp. Toast was not over-toasted. Had mozzarella on it. The fried potatoes were yummy. Good coffee. Nice neighborhood feel. Ill be back!

Im addicted to their coffee. Their service is consistently top-notch, and the cuisine is always prepared to perfection.

I ate every last morsel of the perfectly prepared omelette, which had delicious fillings that were hard to resist.

Everything is very nice food service atmosphere

The breakfast was THE worst Ive had in years. The coffee was warm and bitter. The bacon was limp and fatty. The toast was cold and barely toasted. My poached egg that came in a small bowl was sitting in a pool of water, because no one took the time to use the proper kitchen tool. The potatoes were lukewarm and chewy, the sausage was gross, and again warm not hot and not browned. The beans and fried tomato (which was a very small portion, and odd considering this was an English breakfast) was again warm but passable. I cant bring myself to going there again. What a collosal waste of money. Service was good and friendly.

Kid-friendliness: Small dining area, not ideal for guests who cannot behave/maintain appropriate volume. Wheelchair accessibility: Entry may be tight for chairs. One bathroom, NOT wheelchair/physical disability friendly.

No better mom & pop shoppe to visit after a night of drinking your worries away. Depression might have gotten the best of us Vancouver folk but one place I know will always be there for me and my debilitating hangovers is Tommys.

Delicious breakfast with delightful staff. Breakfast food may seem simple but it was so delicious! It wasn t busy when we were there. Inside is quaint and comfortable, has that laid back vibe with a hint of vintage. Several tables inside but can see it filling up fast during a rush. Not much parking around back of building if you come at a busy time. Can see why this is a local fav!

Fun diner atmosphere and friendly service. I mistakenly ordered the vegan Benny, assuming I was ordering a vegetarian Benny with smoked tofu instead of ham - Ive gotta say, this was a really unfortunate Benny. The vegan hollandaise may have been tasty on something other than what I got: a wet, inch thick cold slab of medium firm tofu with some light grill marks on it. Not sure what the prep was but it wasnt done long enough... and it certainly wasnt smoked. The potatoes were tasty. The coffee was not. As a veggie its hard to rate diners - their best efforts arent the green stuff. But this was just not great.

Having only just moved back after 10yrs away, we miss our weekend breakfast goto from Etobicoke, so other than Whitespot, we have been searching for a new place here. It might be a small rest, but it has big flavors and an amazing menu for even the most discerning tastebuds. We cannot wait to go back and test our fheir lun h menu, as it is clear this is our new goto breakfast place in North Vancouver.

Its okay. Potatoes were a little soggy and I asked for my poached eggs to be soft and they were medium/hard. Still the best place for breakfast in Lynn Valley/North Shore that Ive been to.

Fantastic food and lovely service, we took a break from shopping in the mall and walked over, small place with really nice atmosphere, our server was named sara and she had us laughing the whole time, I recommend the salmon benny!!

First experience here and I will be a returning customer. We ordered through Uber and unfortunately our food was sitting for a while waiting on a driver. Assuming due to the very bad, stormy weather today it was a bit slow but a very lovely gentleman offered to deliver our food for us instead of waiting for an Uber driver. The food is just as good as the service. The fact he was willing to drive out in such poor conditions shows how much this place cares about their food and customers. Honestly disappointed in myself for not trying anything from here sooner. 1000% will be back. :)

Tommys Cafe offers breakfast bowls, and I had the pouting potato bowl No, that is not a typo for poutine, even though its clearly a play on poutine with poached eggs, pesto, hollandaise sauce, and cheese curds, served up with veggies over home fries. An absolutely bizarre combination of flavors, but I was still glad to have tried it. Tommys true specialty, however, is their traditional pierogies, and I couldnt help but order a side dish of them with caramelized onions. Those are definitely worth every bite! Cheers to pierogi and pouting!

Quaint little retro bistro in North Vancouver. Tasty food and prompt service. Great location for small groups of 2-5. We had 5 in our group and they were all too happy to immediately accommodate by moving tables and bringing in an extra chair. Youth(age5+) friendly place where the staff is friendly. (I personally would not bring too young of a child here as your child may prefer a less busy and more spacious atmosphere.) If you use the restroom here, make sure to lock the door behind you. Parking was full when we arrived so we had to park down the street, but the street parking did not have a charge, so that was nice not to pay for street parking. Great place to go for a quick, scrumptious meal and great service!

The food was awful it had no flavor and the waffles were dry and tasted like sawdust. I was disappointed about the the food, my hashbrowns were under cooked and were not crispy it was just a really bad experience I would never go again

Tommy s Cafe has been working since 1990 in Lynn Valley neighborhood. Its a local cafe in a beautiful area in North Vancouver. Although the space is small, but the atmosphere is so local and friendly. The staff is so kind and respectful and do their best to make a good experience there. The coffee is good and its almost more than average coffee in Vancouver. Recommendations: * Tommyhash Bowl $16 * The Dubliner $17 Enjoy!

Tommy s is a legendary North Shore cafe, known for great breakfasts. Great service and food over the years, I d highly recommend checking it out. Arrive early as the place is usually quite busy. Try the buro, one of my favourites.

Wish I could do 0 stars! Owner treats staff terribly! If you eat here please tip well because the owner takes 5% of the tips from his staff. Which means if you tip 10%, 5% goes straight into his pocket and the servers, cooks, dishwasher split the other 5% absolutely disgusting.

I hear there are formal complaints pending about the owner s treatment of staff. Some possible financial irregularities - tips being kept by owner - and abuse of young female staff. This is not what we want to support in our community.

Misogynistic owner and operator. They treat their workers like garbage, making them feel scared and unsafe and talk in disgusting ways about underage female staff. Do not spend your money supporting this buffoonery. Their time is almost up.

Definitely worth a visit for brunch. Way better than any hype cafe you can imagine. Quality of service, food and atmosphere with simplicity and most importantly, no outrageous prices. Great variety on the menu. Inflation makes people picky about where to eat out, Tommy s makes the cut!

Front girl was very sweet, but that s where the list ends. Food was not enjoyable and expensive for what was given. Things were cold and cheap, hope the soon to be night light Indian restaurant is better. Kept waiting for Gordon Ramsey to walk in.

Awesome menu with the basics + some interesting twists. Food was amazing. We will definitely be going back.

The outdoor space here is a star, but there is not that much of it. I had the Benny with ham, which was good but not great. The ham actually made the Benny in this case - the maple flavour came through, and elevated the whole dish. The pan fries were a bit dry, although I appreciated that they were hand made. If Im in the neighborhood, Ill go back, but I wouldnt make a special trip across town to visit.

The staff are pleasant and courteous. Tommys prices are WAY too high for the quality and size of the meal. I ordered a menu item that had poached eggs on top of greens on top of toast and an order of home fries, but when it arrived it didnt match its description in the menu, but I cant remember why because I was so SHOCKED at what they served me in this restaurant. A 5-year-old kid could have made a better breakfast. The greens were wilted from the heat and dampness of the poached eggs, the toast was dry and tasteless, and the home fries were terrible - dry, overcooked. The two poached eggs were perfect, but the rest of it was a 4-letter word. It was THE worst restaurant breakfast I have been served ever - EVER. Take a look at their website - photos of chefs in white uniforms. Now, take a look at their one cook in Tommys kitchen. Hahaha! Tommys is a disgraceful, overrated sham that serves soup kitchen meals at gourmet, high-end prices. You could probably get a better breakfast at a homeless shelter. If dont have much experience eating out, you might not realize how bad the food is.

Tommys is and always has been an amazing little secret. Luckily, I found the secret several years ago and have never had a bad meal from the kitchen. All the staff are amazing and the food is really amazing. Highly recommend getting the Tommyhawk with a spicy ceasar.

There was a menu called Seoul Bowl, so I ordered it, and it came with stir-fried sour kimchi and various stir-fried things. Its worth eating. Considering the price, I think the sandwich is more cost-effective.

We decided to try this off of SkipTheDishes. Reviews were good. Well it didn t turn out so well. Bacon was under cooked and super soggy with grease like it s been sitting in a bacon container cooked from 5am. Burger meat quality was like a pre-made Costco burger. Honestly McDonald s burgers have more flavour. Was just disappointed even with the size of potatoes you get as a side . Perhaps breakfast is their specialty. Have to try that next time. Barney burger, guess the big purple dinosaur didn t taste so good haha .
