If you re looking for oversized and unique rolls, this might be your place! Service: staff are always welcoming and kind, promptly take food orders, and the food tends to arrive fairly quickly. Personal Favorites: Salmon Cone, Yam and Mushroom Roll, John s Roll, and the Spicy Mayo has a slight undertone of sweetness, which levels it up in comparison to others. They offer a large variety of vegan and vegetarian rolls, which is a nice change from typical veggie rolls. Food Quality: I hate to say it, but I ve noticed the quality of their food has been inconsistent in recent months, which is why I procrastinated posting a review. One day, the salmon was great, then a week or two later, the salmon was chewy, and this has happened a few times now. I hope it was a temporary glitch and that things improve, because it s a shame. Overall: nice atmosphere, isn t too loud; however, it can get packed during peak meal times, so be prepared! They offer outdoor dining, which is great on a nice day. This is a fun place to go with a large group to try a few different things since again, their rolls are noticeably larger than other places and very shareable!

The staff here are Korean, so it s convenient because you can speak Korean. If you order one delicious dish, they provide salmon service. Even though there are no pictures on the menu, they provide explanations in Korean, so I think this is a perfect place for Koreans to go. Oct.28. I ate from 8:30 to 9:22. Have a good meal~! Parking: There are both free and paid versions.

I really like the food at Sushi Umi and staff are friendly. I am a little disappointed with my take out order yesterday. It was missing the sauces for gyoza and tempura. Those items really need the specific sauce that come with them. I was sad that they had missed that for my order which cost $60. There needs to be some kind of checklist for take out orders so nothing is missed.

Whenever I crave sushi, this restaurant always comes to mind. Both the service and the food are excellent.

I recently visited Sushi Yumi with my family, and unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience. While waiting for our order, my daughter, who is still a child, was quietly eating a snack from McDonald s. An employee approached us and rather rudely told her that she was not allowed to eat McDonald s food there. My daughter became very upset and started crying, saying that she was just a child and didn t like sushi, but wanted to sit with us. While I understand the restaurant s policy regarding outside food, the way this situation was handled was very disappointing. A more gentle and understanding approach would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, this experience left my daughter so upset that we decided not to visit Sushi Yumi again.

I was really hoping for a standout dish, but unfortunately, it fell flat. The flavors were virtually non-existent, and everything felt very basic. It didn t offer anything unique or exciting, leaving me disappointed. I expected more depth and creativity, but it just didnt deliver. I wont be returning for this dish.

Food was decent. Good items on their menu, good variety of stuff. We had about 3 people serving us. One of the servers was okay but there were two of them that never smiled or made eye contact. In fact I got eye rolls when my toddler dropped food on the floor. I cleaned it up myself though. When it came to pay for the bill, I had no idea they left the POS on the table and walked away, no one said anything.

This place is my absolute favourite sushi place in town and i am very glad to find this place. The only thing that let me down each time is the wait time for the meals and the fact that they don t bring them all together.

We chose this sushi spot for take out because of the reviews. Not sure if they are paying for reviews, or we just got unlucky but the sushi looks nothing like what we got. The sushi we got was seriously the largest rolls I ve ever seen in my life. The food ratios were just off, and we ended up trashing $100 in sushi.

The components of each roll weren t terrible, but the proportion of fish to rice was waaaaaay off. Maybe don t get takeout as the food in person looks a lot better made.

I visited here for the first time today, and my partner and I were really happy with it. You can order using the iPads at each table or with any of the servers. The staff were very kind and attentive, constantly refilling our tea and water. The food was super delicious, fresh, and reasonably priced. I d definitely come back. I stopped by this great place after a swim race with my friend. The service was fantastic- The servers were incredibly friendly and the Menu was quite ample with great selection and very competitive prices. The interior was pleasant and our experiences overall fantastic. My friend ordered the for special Umi roll and i had sashimi, seaweed salad and oshinko maki, all delicious. I recommend this place a lot and hope to be back soon.

I wanted to eat sushi so I searched and went there. It s like a local restaurant~ It has a lot of packaging and seems to be run by Koreans. It was my first time going and I ate the recommended menu. I ordered mackerel sushi separately, but it was really delicious. Other sushi and sushi combos were just okay. The California roll isnt bad either. (personal preference) This is a restaurant worth going back to try other menu items. free parking in front

Since coming to Canada, I never thought that raw fish was delicious, but here it was fresh and delicious. The udon soup was also delicious, and the tempura was so clean and thin that they used the right amount of oil, and it was very crispy!

Sushi rolls are large and tasty. Ordered the North shore, spider, & 2 other rolls cant remember. There was something in them that caused me to feel unwell. Next time Ill try a different roll without sauces. (Except gluten free soy sauce). Food

Sushi Umi is awesome! We were hungry after a day of mountain biking and stopped in here for a quick meal before heading back and it blew our expectations out of the water! We were overwhelmed by all the choices they had so we decided to set sail with one of their party platters. It did not disappoint! The best part though was their service. The Sushi bar staff all greeted us warmly when we came in and our server was so sweet. We are a couple of dirty smelly bikers and needed to service a bike outside when we waited and they were super friendly and accommodating (even gave us some miso on the house!). Thanks for being so nice to some loud annoying dirtbags! You guys rock!

How would you prefer to address this issue? Are there any options you can propose beyond simply offering a refund? If I had wanted just the money refunded, I would have raised the issue with the Saturday order. The reason I let the Saturday order slide is because I believe everyone makes mistakes occasionally. However, making the same mistake repeatedly reflects a lack of skill and responsibility. And How do you propose to solve the pain our child has experienced? Dont utter words of irresponsibility that you cannot uphold. Since theres nothing you can resolve anyway, dont even bother trying to solve my problem; why dont you go deal with your own mess? - I feel compelled to provide an unflinching assessment of my recent experiences at this restaurant, as you have been nothing short of unacceptable. On Saturday, my pickup order was significantly delayed, disrupting my plans for the evening. When it was finally prepared, it was not only late but also inaccurately assembled. The dish I received bore no resemblance to my original order, indicating a serious lapse in attention to detail. Despite this setback, I reluctantly returned on Sunday, hoping for a turnaround. Unfortunately, Sunday brought more of the same. Once again, my pickup order was delayed, and once again, it was prepared incorrectly. It was disheartening to observe such consistent failures in service and quality control. The repeated errors over the course of two days have eroded any trust I may have had in this establishment. Even worse, after consuming the meal on Sunday, we noticed our child developed hives, leading us to suspect that we were served food to which we may have allergies. If youre unable to fulfill customers orders correctly, perhaps refraining from accepting pickup orders would demonstrate a more responsible approach. Furthermore, the fact that the staff didnt even seem to know how to apologize for making us wait only adds to the skepticism about the level of responsibility they can be expected to uphold. Regrettably, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend dining here to anyone. The level of incompetence demonstrated during my visits is simply unacceptable. I urge the management to take prompt and decisive action to rectify these deficiencies and restore confidence in their operations.

Great place to take someone for a more upscale sushi meal. All the dishes we had were delicious and the table cleared all of it. The five of us ordered miso, gyoza, tempura, tuna sashimi (so good!), Rachels roll and a dynamite roll. Food came out fast, but then after we finished everything it took awhile to get the bill.

Are you looking for a good deal price-wise? Works. But definitely not my favorite.

I am a long-term customer. I have tried their sushi multiple times, and I enjoyed it each time. I also sampled their Teriyaki beef, but it may not have suited my taste. The staff is generally nice and friendly, but Id like to raise a legitimate concern. As the store approaches closing time, servers begin cleaning the store and sweeping under tables while customers are still dining. This, coupled with bringing the bill before customers have finished, gives a sense of being rushed. I find this behavior unacceptable, and they should better manage their closing procedures. Perhaps they could consider not accepting customers after a certain time. I would gladly give a 5-star rating if this aspect is improved.

The sushi was good, Giving 3 stars because the prices have gone up in the last couple years, got take out and they didnt even give me soy sauce, $4 for a small to go cup of Miao soup is criminal.

It was great to be able to taste fresh raw fish, and there was a lot of it! I went for a company dinner and it wasnt lacking at all, both in terms of taste and quantity!! Not only the raw fish but also the fries were fried so well and crunchy and delicious. Im going to go again next time.

Reasonable priced dishes and a good amount of vegetarian options. I had a veggie bento box, and it was tasty. I got to try something new. My friends had sushi, and it looked really good overall quick service at a decent price.

Very good restaurant and good customer service

Purchased $130 worth of takeout tonight through Doordash tonight for the first time from Sushi Umi as the reviews seemed mostly good. First off, the order was delivered missing half of the order of rolls. Out of the entrees only the tempura & miso soup were palatable. The chicken teriyaki was disgusting and inedible. Not only was the chicken itself translucent and pasty in texture, but also the taste was not what one would expect. Think watered down soy sauce and vinegar mixture that sliced raw chicken would over marinate in before being undercooked and served. The beef teriyaki rolls were covered in a thick gel type of sauce that had the consistency of the cheap bottled grocery store meat glazes that are meant to be cooked before eating. The vegetable Yaki udon had a brown puddle solidifying into jello. Check out the noodles pictures say everything. We called the restaurant to let them know and the person answering the phone was dismissive and unhelpful. We were told that the food is good and we re questioned if we were knowledgeable about their type of food. I am not a fussy person the takeout in any mall food court would be like a 5 star restaurant compared to this. This is the worst food I ve had in distant memory.

I ordered take out to try this place and oh my word. It was so delicious. The avocado was so creamy. I was sad at first because they only gave me 1 soy sauce pack but the sushi was so good it didnt need much soy sauce at all.

If you like dissecting your food come here.. Felt like getting sushi, service is lack lustre. Rolls were packed loosely and basically fell apart. Dressing on the salad is an orange citrus dressing. Would definitely not be coming back to this place.

The service is great and it s a nice restaurant, but just got food for takeout the nigiri is so thick and the rice to fish ratio is so off. The salmon is too thick and is not even edible because of the way it s cut, and they charge $4/piece outrageous. And for the calamari, I ate it 5 minutes after I picked it up, soggy, and some parts undercooked because they re like gum, springy and not chewable. I m so upset right now. Spent $40 and half of it went to waste cuz it wasn t made properly. Quite disappointing. Last time I ever order from Sushi Umi.

The menu they have online and the menu in the store is not the same, they should update that.

Don t trust their online order portal for pick-up. Online order status said it was done but when I got there I was told it will be another 30min. Staff said it was internet problem and nothing to do with them?? Regretting my decision to prepay and include a tip.

I can t say enough about this place! The service is consistently amazing, even on busy weekends. We usually visit on weekdays, but tonight was exceptionally busy. It s advisable to call and reserve to be seated right away. The special rolls, including Lonsdale, Grouse Mountain, and Cheetos, are all excellent! Our go-to sushi picks are Eli OShi and the Philadelphia Roll. The Spicy Salmon Sashimi is truly amazing. It s our favorite spot, and we make sure to go there once a week!

Really busy, we waited for a while to be seated, you need to grab their attention since everyone work as inside service & take away. Good variety of choices with reasonable prices, all tasty & fresh. I was only concerned why the size of the sushies are sooo big! Arent we supposed to eat each one in a bite?! That was impossible to me! :} overall it was a great experience but not to bring a date there! You cant eat at ease!!! :))

The Toro Nigiri and the tuna in the tuna roll have been frozen at least twice. It looks and tastes stale and has a dry, grainy texture. Too bad. It s a convenient takeout location for me.

Great sushi. Quick service, excellent presentation for the food. Everything was clean and it is a great place for food. We got the jalapeño roll and it was properly spicy. We also had the assorted nigiri combo and it was excellent.

I went with my daughter and ordered three dishes, the food was fishy and had no taste, it felt like the food was not freshly made and old. I am not going there any more

A few servers are inexperienced, food came late and was rushing us by taking unfinished plates away and giving bill and machine way too early. Rice and sushi is good, but Chirashi don was overpriced. I don t think I ll ever visit again.

Hi there, on behalf of my sisters and I s order tonight we were both very disappointed. The order stated that it would be ready at 5:24. We arrived around 5:15 and paid and thought we would only be waiting a few minutes or so as we only ordered 3 rolls and an appetizer boy were we wrong. The order was ready at 5:50. A 20 minute wait PLUS a 26 extra wait did you forget our order? In return you give us ONE miso soup to apologize even though there were two of us. Wow. Is that the least you could do? Almost a 50 minute wait. Unbelievable. To top it off the waitresses were very rude and did not acknowledge us. As well as they were more focused on there 4 dine-in tables amongst the three of them then the numerous to-go orders ready. Very disappointed.

Delivery quality disappointing. Sushi was fishy, I know my sushi and this had a gamey fish taste, did not eat. The chicken teriyaki was flavourless and overcooked.

Took out their party tray (I think 55 pieces) and I have never eaten sushi this bad. The rice was old and tasteless and type of filling was disgusting (fake crabs with some mayo or white sauce and sweet potatoes, aghhh). Regret having eaten there and would never go back. Also, anywhere I order online for pick up, my sushi is always in the open fridge because raw fish cannot be sitting outside for long. Our takeout here was sitting outside on the table who knows for how long.

Always great service and beautiful top quality sushi - sustainable wild salmon, hotate, ika, all melt in your mouth tender, and real wasabi if you ask! Vegetarian options: The funky veggie roll has 4 kinds of veg tempura, topped with shaved fried yam strings, and a sweet onion basaltic glaze. Take it easy on overfishing, order this instead!

Ive been coming to Sushi Umi for probably about a decade after my foodie friend in the know took me there. More recently it has become my most visited restaurant on my fairly frequent trips between Seattle and Whistler. The reason? It is a 2 minute walk from a Tesla Supercharger and the service is very prompt and to the point and they serve the most delicious food near a Tesla Supercharger I have found, including Vancouver and Squamish regions. Most of the dishes on the menu can be ordered and consumed in time before my Tesla gets full charge. I also take some food out to eat dinner when I arrive in Whistler. Thank you Umi!

Today at lunch a family member had an immediate food poisoning reaction in that we had to quickly leave after my family member made a dash to the washroom at Sushi Umi When I called to inform them two hours later they were very dismissive.
