"Hana Don offers the quintessential "sea in a bowl" experience to everyone who walks through its doors. Fresh, seasonal worldwide imported seafood ingredients and our craftsmanship are demonstrated in extensive preparation techniques. At Hana Don, diners are offered an opportunity to appreciate true, genuine Japanese donburi. More than just a "rice bowl", donburi is everyone's chance to enjoy Japanese cuisine distilled into its purest form - "sea in a bowl"."
Food was a hit or miss, didn't taste fresh or like anything special - especially for the price. Sushi & sashimi was ok, karaage oyako don was plain. Service was meh - They overcharged me even when I inquired why the bill was higher than it was supposed to be, and said we could only pay cash... I asked for a receipt and they wouldn't give me one. I would not go back here again, even for takeout 😬 🍦 Personally, the parfait was super overpriced for ice cream and cereal... they had grass jelly but i'm disappointed there was no mochi or dango.
Their menu changed since the last time I came, but overall their donburi remains the same. The food remained consistent, but I dropped to 3 stars because of the service. It was very slow and inconsistent. We waited for a waiter to take our order for 20 minutes. After they took our order, both of our dishes did not arrive at the same time, and we couldn't enjoy our mealstogether. It was very awkward when one of us is eating while the other is waiting. By the time my brother finished his meal, my meal came. I noticed this similar behaviour the last time I came when it took the waiters a long time to show up. We would have to flag them to get their attention. I would still come back, but their service needs to be changed for things to be consistent and run smoothly instead of making the customers wait.
I had a great experience at this Japanese restaurant! I ordered the sashimi don, and it was fantastic. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the portion was generous, making it well worth the price. The presentation was beautiful, and each piece was perfectly cut and full of flavor. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes on the menu!
I ate here yesterday night after work, I ordered a beef rice and the beef was super hard to chew, it’s like I am chewing the plastic. I asked the waitress to explain and they give me a new one. I am satisfied with the food return service but there is a waitress she seemed upset or something, no smile the whole time. And last night after I eat, I didn’t eat anything else, but I started to vomit and diarrhoea so bad. That’s a bad experience and I don’t think I will come to here again.
Unfortunately, everything we ordered was just below average in taste. While the presentation was decent, the overall experience didn’t justify the high price point. I expected more given the cost.
The food was excellent like Omakase level before, but not anymore now. Shashimi quality was lower a lot compared with almost half a year ago, Air freight sashimi is not fresh enough, and the taste favorite now changed to very strong and covered the Sashimi. A lot of changes were found in the restaurant, especially nearly all the skilled manpowers (Chef and managers) were all gone. Service was a little, and the server was unskilled. Decoration is still good but noisy. Price was affordable but overprice The 2 Pros were only accessible Location located at Don mills Station and their full cream Japanese Vanilla ice cream and Matcha Ice cream! I think I will visit other Japanese restaurants for the same price range.
We enjoyed our impromptu late dinner here. We had the Unagi and Gyudon sets. They came with sushi and miso soup. We also had the karaage and the fried oysters. The food was okay, I wasn’t really impressed. Also, my bowl had dried out (you could tell it was under the warmer for too long). The staff though were very accommodating and friendly. I do want to come back to try their other bowls.
It's okay. I've been three times and the char siu pork don is the best dish I've had there (it's probably a 4 star dish), but everything else was passable, but not good. It feels like it's a mall restaurant, which is fine, because it is, but I don't think that is what they were going for and the price is high for this level of flavour. The servers are all nice, but I've always had to flag them down to get the bill as I'm rarely checked on. But the place is always clean, welcoming, and cool on a warm day.
The food is overpriced, and the customer service is lacking. I waited five minutes to pick up my order even though my food was already ready. With only two servers on duty, it felt like they were more focused on looking busy than attending to customers. This visit has confirmed that I wont be coming back.
Food soso. Price- Overpriced with its quality Unagi don - the unagi has lots of bones and it is more than usual. Thick and long. Sashimi don - Not really fresh. Overpriced. Service - great welcome by staff though nothing they could do on the unagi don bones issue. Just simply report to the chef.
I wasnt impressed. Very expensive for food quality. Wont go again.
tasty
Sushi (including toro and uni sashimi) was just okay; would not order again. Gyudon and katsu dishes were worth it! Dessert parfait was a confusing medley of ingredients. Service was inattentive, but good once we got their attention.
Staff is polite and quick. Food is good quality. Price has gone a bit pricey. Maybe I will try take out next time to save the tips. Food : 5/5
Every time my business associate from New York comes to Toronto, he insist that we go to Hana Don at Fairview Mall for some Uni. Both the server and the chef are always amazing in accommodating our request . It never disappoints! Highly recommend Hana Don! Food : 5/5
The food is good, though a bit pricier than other sushi spots. I d recommend the sashimi bowls for their freshness. The BBQ eel bowl is decent but doesn t quite compare to the ones I had in Japan. Service, however, is below average; the waitress seemed unhappy, which made the atmosphere less welcoming. Overall, I d still come back for the food, but not for the service.
The salmon teriyaki is great
The ingredients are not fresh, the beef seems to have been aged for several days The eel on the black dragon roll had no juice, as if it had been cooked for a long time.
The restaurant smells terrible. They opened for business while the smell of insecticide hadn t even dissipated. Shouldn t a Japanese restaurant place even more importance on its quality? Why would they open under such conditions? Strongly suspect that this isn t even a real Japanese restaurant.
Not recommended, The place smell like insecticide
This is the worst Japanese food Ive ever had in my life! The bara don was very fetid and disgusting! Dont ever try it!
The fish is very fresh and the seasoning is great. I recommend the aburi sushi, it is delicious. The aburi rice is also delicious. The waitress is very nice!
Horrible Service, low quality food. Don t waste your money here, if you really want this Type of food, the one in GTA north is much better than this one.
loved it came with my family and friends
Rubbish product. The chef s standards are far from qualified.
Very good service! The waiter was super friendly and nice! I will come back again!
Bad customer service . Zero
The food was excellent and the service top notch. Our server was very attentive and helpful Parking: Found a spot didnt beat the door at noon!
The last time we went my wife ordered the Salmon Roe/Uni over rice .. The Uni was stinky and runny and parts were already turning dark color too. The Salmon Roe wasn t any better, the roe weren t plump but dehydrated and very bad fishy in taste too Told the server and she only said OK pretending really not to understand English . We could have told them in Cantonese or even Mandarin too .. but what s the point. Don t think we ll ever go back again
Best rice bowls
Celebrated a birthday. The staff is super friendly. They have a good selection in their menu and drinks . Do ask for the recommendation if your confused.
The Bento Box is a large portion and is really good. The rolls are really great too.
Really enjoyed the food and service there :)
The team that served us was amazing and incredibly polite. They were very attentive to our needs and were also gentle when handling our table and its cluster of orders. Speaking of orders, we ordered: Ikayaki(GRILLED SQUID FOR THE WIN), Salmon Avocado Don& Mackerel(great taste from the soft texture of the salmon and how the avocado made it very hearty. The mackerel was superb too, not over cooked and not too salty. Just right.) And we also had an Unatama( nice and tender eels) & Sushi. I did a small side of veggie tempura too, for a little ASMR of crunches ahahaha. Regardless of what you pick, youll definitely enjoy the colors of the dish and how the flavors complement each item.
This is my first visit to this venue. The food is delicious, but the ambiance at the Markham location is superior.
Good food and ambiance
The Sous Vide Beef Don was amazing. Will definitely be back ASAP. Service was very attentive and our meals came quickly.
Food is decent but not special. Kind of expensive and the service is just OK.
Came here for the food and it was delicious but the waiter rarely checked on us despite the restaurant not being very big (one person at our table was visibly pregnant and requested water and waited a long time for it). We were going to order dessert after our meal but the waiter wasnt around. In the end, due to the long wait, we decided to get dessert in the mall instead. Food is delicious and prices are reasonable but service is lacking. If staff were more attentive, I wouldve rated this with 4 stars
Save your money and go to a more trendy sushi spot. This chain has gone downhill over the years. The food just doesn t compare to new sushi places. Disappointed.
Came here using Groupon Voucher. The meal itself was acceptable. Portion a little small. 4 adults , $115 later, the food would not fill your stomach. Tasty though. Ordered two separate side dishes. Very disappointing. The grilled squid and the duck brest were not up to standard.
Ordered an omakase dish before others and we did not get it before them. Not a happy camper. Parking: center south parking.
I don t usually like to do this, But it was horrible especially for the price. The uni was nasty and I love uni, the seafood wasn t fresh in my opinion and it was slimy, the only good thing was the momo peach drink, the squid was a disappointment as well, idk if my expectations were too high, I don t recommend this place and will not go back
Good food, service, and atmosphere. Not too crowded and have enough space for privacy dining.
A great place for a night out with friends. The service was nice, food was yummy but I love the atmosphere. Very comfortable.
Ordered the tempura don and it had way too much batter and was not crispy at all.
good location, friendly staff, food were ok, price are a bit high compared with food quality.
The waiter Edward has very pleasant smile and he is amicable . The food is great . Good value Parking: Parking all depends on time of the day
had an excellent omakase experience at hana don!! celebrated my post graduation meal with my good friend peter! thank you for the excellent food and service
Nice place, really good staff and the food was awesome. The matcha and passion fruit tea was so good!!!
It used to be better. Food quality has gone down hill. The rice texture has changed, it s not as sticky/ chewy. And the vibe changed too. Only a few tables during lunch time and mostly older crowd. It used to be a hip place with more younger adults. Drinks selection has shrink as well.
Delicious, authentic, and fresh . Thanks to Ivy for the outstanding and warm services. Highly recommend.
food was good! Unagi don combo was especially tasty. Service was good too our server Ivy was really nice and efficient
The lunch specials are great.
Wow such eel!
The sauce is priced at a premium, and there is an additional one dollar surcharge for a small serving of what is supposed to be a complimentary refill of dipp
The sashimi on the Toyosu Don was so fresh and good! I would be happier if there were more sashimi on it. Considering the price is fair, its understandable. I ate Toyosudon. The sashimi was fresh and very tasty. I think its reasonable considering the price, but I wish it had a little more sashimi on it.
The options are limited but donburi is really good here.
This Japanese sushi and udon restaurant offers a delectable culinary experience. The sushi is fresh and expertly prepared, while the udon dishes are flavorful and comforting. However, compared to similar establishments, the prices for sushi are a bit on the higher side. Despite this, the quality of the food justifies the cost, making it a worthwhile dining destination for sushi and udon enthusiasts alike.
When I checked out the staff rudely asked me for a tip, telling me where is the tail of receipt and why I didnt pay a tip on machine. And I was like what..? Isnt it optional?? I was confused. It was lunch time and the service was not felt that friendly like they didnt check hows everything going at all if they wanted a tip.., they werent that busy when I visited there as well. If you want to explain me please leave me a message to check whether the staff really did or not, i had bad experience there.
Food was ok, raw fish was fresh. but for the hot dish I ordered, grill squid was cold while it was serving Waitress provided 0 service . stood behind me while I was entering the tips. Shown long face after even tho I was nice enough to give them 10% tips for absolutely no service. I remember her name is Ivy. Definitely not recommending and won t come back!
Good food. Portions are good for the price. Can be a bit busy at peak so service can be a bit slow
We came here for a late lunch so there were not very many people. We were great at the door by Ivy, who was also our nice server. Their menu has a good variety of options. There s choices for vegetarians and pescatarians as well. We ordered the Takoyaki and deep fried calamari for starters and Karaage Don and Gyu Don rice bowls. We were also given miso soup which I found tasty. The Takoyaki was good but I didn t really like the sauce. It was a little too sour for me. The deep fried calamari was okay - (my son loved it but I think it s a tad bland). It was freshly cooked, crunchy, and the calamari was bigger than what you usually get from other restaurants. The bowls looked small but it s actually packed, and they didn t skimp on the karaage and beef topping. We weren t able to finish our mains so we had half of it to go. I would definitely recommend this and would come back to try their other menu items.
The food was alright . The portions are small . Felt the food was too oily .
Server Ivy was pleasant, friendly and helpful. Lunch special price is reasonable with free tea . It comes with soup , salad , rice and other chicken, salmon or pork . Also California sushi .
The service is bad.. the girl servers need to be retrained.. I asked for some soy sauce was just flat out told, No with no explaination or whatever. There was only 2 other people in the restaurant so they werent even busy or whatever. The food took forever to come though it was lunchtime and wasnt busy. Food was good but sadly wont be coming back due to horrible experience. Server ruined my day and mood. Please change your attitude or retrain your staff or you will loose more customers.
Initially I gave it a 5 star. Came back to reduce it to 3 star. The girl who took us to our table did not let us have a bigger table and would not let us combine a smaller table with ours even though we ordered a lot of food that would not fit on the small table she set us up with. Her attitude was very poor as well. Shame how the second visit was the opposite of the first visit. I no longer recommend and I am not coming back here. First visit: Food tasted very authentic (compared to what I ve seen on youtube). Service was exceptional and atmosphere was very pleasant. Highly recommend.
Very good sushi restaurant I had bbq eel sushi 6 pieces and my friend Alex TSUI ordered the California rolls !!!!!!!! The meal was very good!!!!!! And very cheap and affordable!!!!!!! Vegetarian options: I highly recommend the California rolls for vegans and even the bbq eel sushi rolls !!!!!!!
Ivy was the greatest.. great service
Good Japanese restaurant. Nicely presented dishes, the service is great. If you like rice bowls and reasonable prices, it is the place to visit. They also have sushi, perhaps Ill try that next time.
Really good sushi, at first we were skeptical but we ended up loving this place. If you crave premium seafood and sushi, this is the place. Perfect place to dine after a long shopping day
Good food and good service. Ivy was quick and efficient.
Fish is so fresh will definitely be coming back to try their other bowls. Update : I came back to try their other food and it s was pretty mediocre. The tempura was not crispy at all, the sauce was tasteless, noodles were a meh. So I would say just stick their rice bowl dishes.
A very special spot for a special night out!!! Food and service were a cut above the rest. Outstanding seafood made accessible.
Seafood feels fresh, with a good texture. Good portions if youre not a big eater. Service is as expected, nothing spectacular. Just there to take your order and give you food. The atmosphere is nice for conversations, pretty quiet.
Friendly staff and food was delicious to devour. Only one star off because we need to call the server to bring the miso soup that came with the signature dons. Will be back again for their signature dons.
we had our weekday lunch there. The soba & don have good portion! as well fresh & tasty. Great service they have there
This place is actually pretty good. Portion and price about right. Selection is a bit crowded. They have dons and fried items and sushi rolls. Should focus on doing couple of things well. But no real complain about quality. Servers are polite and courteous.
Love the squid. It was awesome. Kid-friendliness: My boy who is studying at Seneca was very friendly. Thanks for letting us practice Japanese with you. Food : 5/5 |
The place is clean with warm welcoming staff. Very recommend!
0 star
The dishes has soy sauce stains on it. Also, the beef on gyudon (beef rice) are overcooked, hard to chew and dry. The sashimi rice is overpriced with that quality. Go somewhere else to get better Japanese food with the budget.
Great food. Cafe ambience.
Good service, average atmosphere. Sashimi aren t taste fresh with uneven sliced tiny portions of fishes & big rices at bottom.
So rude attitude to customer When we came into restaurant and want to sit with my friend. But theres a female waiter interrupted us. She didnt know basic service with customer.
Very mediocre, the fried starters were better than the donburi, the nori was not very sweet, crabmeat a bit dry, rice was too hard, yakitori was a bit overcooked; service wasn t very good, we didn t have any tea or water until almost finished our meal.
Not the freshest seafood in the world, food is mid.
The menu looks good but the photos are misleading - dont set your expectations that high. The uni/sea urchins is not fresh and when I asked them why it tastes so weird, they were not honest about it and made up some excuses. Its not worth it.
This is a great lunch spot. The aburi don was delicious and the tempura was light and crispy. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend coming to Hana Don if you need a place to sit and eat. Parking: Plenty of mall parking in front of the restaurant.
Really fond of what they have to offer and I am personally highly fond of their ikayaki. Certainly I hope to order one or two. My only nitpick is I wish it was decorated to appear as an entire squid from the menu image Y13.
Food is ok, but the service is very poor, soup with spoon, drinks were not ordered.
All in all is good. If the seafood n rice portion(more seafood less rice) can adjust more balance will be idea.
Ivy is very nice and helpful. Best Japanese food in town
Dons are delicious. Servers are busy but not sure what they are busy for. Ordered a take out, mentioned it shall be on separate bill but still on one bill. Ordered the chicken rice with egg (L24) which was pointed out exactly to the waitress but got NO egg on it. Girls need to be well trained for this location!
Food here are pretty nice but a bit expensive. To recommend I hope the table will be bigger cause we don t have much space for big dishes. Thanks for Ivy s service, she s pretty careful and patient.
I love that this place exists in Fairview mall. They have a great selection of delicious dishes to choose from and their matcha dessert is a must try. The staff was also great. They gave us suggestions on what to try which was great. I definitely would come back here to try the rest of the menu!
Convenient spot for a reliably great lunch every time !
The food was so fresh!!! The salmon bowl was our highlight!
Absolutely amazing, very fresh and yummy.Ivy is stunning! Thank you
Amazing good and exceptional customer service specially by Ivy. Thank you so much.
The food is fresh and tasty. Service is good as well. Its a hidden gem at Fairview Mall. A must try!
authentic JP @ fair Q/P. service must not be too pushy
Food was amazing! Great flavours and freshness of seafood. We had the Aburi Don (highly recommend), Bara Don and eel avocado roll. (Sorry it looked so good we skipped the photo and dug right in). Biggest pet peeve when dining out is having your server make you feel like they re entitled to tips while providing terrible service. Fortunately, it was only one female wait staff that affected our meal. But, I still feel that my dining experience has been impacted thus the two star rating. This is not acceptable in the hospitality industry and I feel needs to be addressed. We still tipped, although it s definitely below the amount the other wait staff should be receiving (assuming the tip is pooled and shared). Just finished my meal with two or my girlfriends. And felt the food deserved to be mentioned as well as the waitresses behaviour. Will definitely go back for the food.
I rarely leave google review but the service there was just amazing! I asked the young female staff what s the recommended dish because I m allergic to some seafood. She gave me a lot of information on different dishes and she s so friendly and patient. The food is fresh and delicious too. This is now my go-to restaurant :)
Just had dinner with friends and we loved every item we ordered. Jackie and his team were amazing!
Great tempura!
Love the food and the staffs are nice and hospitable
Had a birthday dinner here. Decent but lowered expectation when compared to other restaurants in Toronto. Service was good but as a mall location, bit pricey side.
Pros: The sashimi is fresh, and the food presentation is beautiful. Cons: The price is around $20-30 for the don, the portions are way too small !!! ( they cut sashimi in lots of small pieces so makes you feel like a lot) Not really worth it.
Finally got to try Hana Don myself after hearing mixed reviews from everyone. I got the Deluxe Bara Don and my boyfriend got the Gyudon. The Deluxe Bara Don was fresh and delicious I was stuffed after finishing it! The only thing I wish was that there could be a little bit more uni. I didn t try the Gyudon but my boyfriend enjoyed it. There was a good amount of beef and rice, the dish was piping hot when it came out and he said it was very filling. The servers there were very nice and attentive. They always came and refilled our waters and took our empty plates away. Will definitely come back to try their other bowls! Parking: Fairview mall parking
The food quality was pretty good and the sushi was tasty with good quality. However, I wish they had more vegetarian options. The service was good too. A bit pricy for the portions
Excellent food quality so fresh and delicious. Staff are so friendly and polite. Highly recommend if you want to experience a warm and cozy place to enjoy the food.
Some of the best sushi Ive had. Everything melted in my mouth and the service was so friendly. Its a little pricier than other places but the quality is absolutely worth it
Excellent Sushi and Miso soup!
Its quite average, nothing special, and the price is on the high side. Its not like stepping on thunder. But I probably wont come again.
The food didn t worth the money, overpriced They are cheating their customers I paid $50 for this food. I could have gotten better sushi somewhere else.
I like the rice set that you can freely choose 3 toppings. I chose Salmon, Lean Tuna and Albacore Tuna. The crispy chicken appetizer tasted good. The beef was nicely cooked but not as tender as I think. I came again and again...... The rolls were delicious. The fried chicken with cheese was so tummy surprisingly. Highly recommend the spicy tuna roll. Tasty! If you go there to have lunch, the price is attractive. Curry rice was very tasty.
Tasty food! Recommend!
Not enough variety
Definitely a treat as their bowls werent cheap, but solid. I ordered the Aburi Don to go and it was delicious. Fair portions and well seasoned rice. Came for 7pm on a Friday and there was seating available. Would recommend and comeback
Ordered take out order for almost $80 for only two dishes that couldnt even eat since not fresh enough after put in the fridge for one hr plus 15 mins travel time. Called back the restaurant, and was told it is our fault that eat it after one hr and 15 mins. As experience, the restaurant has the responsibility to inform cx the best expected time to eat the food or prepare it for cx make need time to travel back home and such. How should cx know if there is a limit time to eat sashimi before it goes bad? On the other hand, how could sushi goes bad for that quick? Do u get food delivery every 2hrs so that they are fresh for all ur cx? I order sashimi from another restaurant on the same day and even pickup earlier. When I eat them they are as fresh as when I got them. Why cx should take the mistake or responsibility from the restaurant? Post-stage service is Terrible!!!
The presentation was beautiful. The taste is average.
lovely place, but the server makes people a bit stressful.
Service from the waiters and waitresses was great. Food came in an orderly manner. If you ordered appetizers, you would get them first and when youre about done, the others will come. Good timing. Would come again!
Love to be here.
Bad experience and worst attitude from the waitress. Never come again.
Super fresh seafood. Small portions.
On saturday, july 8th, i was dining at hanadon at fairview mall. I was sitting beside the window. I then noticed the senior sushi chef that was cutting the fish after he played with his phone for five minutes without washing his hands. its very unprofessional and unsanitary.
Good quality food. Fresh. Staff are super accommodating and kind. Dine in and takeout options are both equally good.
really good food w great service. definitely recommend!!
we ordered pointing to the pictures but still come out not the same
Pretty nice restaurant at farewell mall. Good choice for a quick meal while shopping. Flavor is decent but nothing special. Seafood is not the best. Uni is not fresh enough.
The Google shows the restaurant is close at 10 pm. We drove 20 mins and arrived before 9:30pm and the waitress just said they closed and kicked us out with no apology at all. The tone of the waitress is really cold and not friendly. Very disappointing!
Food was good and fresh. Friendly service so definitely come back
Perfect little place for lunch yesterday and so happy that we managed to stumble onto this place! They have a lunch and evening meal, which was perfect because we were looking for something that wasnt too heavy. I had a salmon and avocado Don bowl and my husband had 3 different types of sushi: both included a drink and were very reasonable. The staff were kind, friendly and helpful and we would definitely return!
The place is clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly. The sushi was delicious. Parking: It is located at Fairview Mall, therefore the entire malls parking lot is available for their customers.
A bit disappointed, few items are good ,but few not great. Variety of fish type from chef choice not many and repeated. Food from sushi chef station waited 5-10 min until the waitress pick it up and serve the table. That night table only half full........
Good
We just had late dinner here and I ordered the bowl with Uni, Ikura and scallops for myself :) Everything we ve ordered was good :))
Ambiance is ok. The exhaust is really loud and we were sitting behind the garage door Fish tasted delicious. Price point is median high. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.
The sashimi on Tsujiki don were fresh and delicately sliced, the rice was cooked perfectly. Crazy oyster roll was amazing, much better than a lot of takeout sushi places. The most surprisingly good dish was the gyu don (beef on rice), which we ordered for our toddler. Totally exceeded expectation because of the amount of beef and how perfectly cooked and well presented it was. Even the adults ended up enjoying the gyu don a lot! Service was great, very family friendly. Will come back to try other dishes next time!
Good food and price
Food was great when this place just opened. Not anymore. Sushi quality have decreased.
Service and food was great. Went here alone on July 21st, 2023 and I ordered gyu don I believe and the food was so good and got meat portion.
Cute little sushi Don restaurant that s accessible from Fairview Mall. The food overall was great, and all the sashimi pieces were fresh and delicious. We got the deep fried fresh oysters w/ house spicy mayo ($13) I d rate it a 9/10. As for me, I got the Toyosu Don, a season pick, which includes sweet shrimps, salmon, white fish, scallop, and Ikura on white rice. ($32) I d rate it an 8.5/10. I wish the portion was a bit bigger. My girlfriend got the Large Premium Hana Don which included an Assortment of Hana s finest seasonal seafood w/ whole abalone on sushi rice. ($39) The portion was bigger than my Toyosu Don plate. She rated it a 7.5/10. Each of our meals also came w/ miso soup as well. Overall, pretty nice spot near the mall when you re craving some fresh sushi while shopping.
Service was good, food was delicious. The restaurant is part of Fairview Mall but the entrance is on the outside. Kid-friendliness: High chairs and booster seats available, but they dont have a dedicated childrens menu.
I found bones in white fish sashimi in Don...first time in Toronto.....anyway they give me a couple new pieces. The skin film on squid leg was....it is an interesting food journey here. Good service.
Dont let that smile fool you . The way the manager acted , I thought I would enjoy premium sushi . After 30 mins of eating it I got sick upto now 48 hours after. (Dont ask me to describe it) Long story short, I think they have serious hygiene problem, or I was the unlucky one???? I ordered spider and tempura Maki, and genuinely regret it .
I placed an order on door dash and a mistake was made on my order. After contacting them they personally delivered my correct order very quickly . Polite service and good quality
Popped in for a light bite, the pan fried gyoza and Alaska roll were exactly what I needed. Fish tasted very fresh. Service was perfect, nice quiet seating area. Thanks for the much needed respite from wandering the mall
Very very nice inside. Customer service was excellent from everyone, 2 servers and a gentleman hosting or managing. Food was generous and well priced. We had a chicken teriyaki bento, which came with soup, salad and California rolls, and a chicken katsu which came with the same except no rolls. Food was very tasty. Only issue is the chicken was fatty. It would be great if there was a white meat option, so that I could avoid the unpleasant texture of the fat that the boneless thigh carries. I also wanted an app, but the available options did not pique my interest. Would recommend tho. My partner thoroughly enjoyed everything and cant wait to go back.
Portion is a bit small (for price haha) but still fresh.
Service was great. Food was quite good but for $25 per don, I expected more. But quality is food is good.
Visiting the area from the US and came across this gem by chance. The food and atmosphere is definitely authentic! The food menu and sake menu are great! I had white miso soup and was very happy to discover it was real white miso soup like the kind you would have in Japan! I also ordered gyosa (dumplings) and kaarage (Japanese boneless fried chicken) and they both were awesome as well. The wait staff was also really nice. Dont know much about the area but I highly recommend this place if you love Japanese food!
It tastes pretty good. The price is a bit high for this location, but there are no other Japanese food stores nearby.
Delicious and worth the try! The Hana special roll was my favourite out of what we had ordered. The Aburi don and Unagi don are good as well. The matcha ice cream soft serve was a good end to our meal. We would definitely come back again.
Food is so so, but definitely overpriced
Service 5 star absolutely amazing greetings and responding. Waiters did not chat or browsing their phones but stand straight and wait for your signal. Food 3. Average quality Seafood. Portion is good though, but ankimo liver tastes salty like its a can food. Sushi falls apart immediately after i grab them. Seafood don tastes blend. Gyoza are pre-frozen. Atmosphere 4. Better than average decorations and music. Clean dinning area, no entrance directly connects to the mall.
Nice restauraunt, food was ok but atmosphere good
My friend and I randomly walked into this Japanese restaurant & Bar for dinner after shopping at Fairview Mall. We had such an exquisite experience! The menu is very interesting since theres a variety of food. I finally ordered a Hokkaido Don and my friend an Aburi Don. We were quite impressed by the high quality of seafood, the softness of the fish and the nice presentation of the dish. The fish, uni, Hokkaido scallop and ikura were impeccably fresh, melting in the mouth with a burst of delicate flavours. The whole dish was a symphony of tastes and textures that I had the impression I was being transported to Japan. The service was excellent. The server was attentive and kept filling our cups with hot tea which kept us warm even after eating their Hana Signature Parfait (a mix of matcha and vanilla ice cream on coconut jelly and cornflakes). The nice decor emphasizes the ambiance which made our evening memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back.
It was a little quiet when I went because it was a little early for dinner service however service was exceptional. Staff was very friendly. Hunger game the portion is too small to feed an adult. I paid 30, not worth it
Food is really delicious and the atmosphere is nice. Service is good too although the tables are quite small but overall its a place where you can recommend to friends.
I got the Bara Don and spicy salmon hand roll and both were excellent. Food was delicious and service was great. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I m already planning on going back to try their other food items.
This is your typical sushi fair with some great rice bowl options for lunch. Food quality, quantity and taste are all good. Service was quick and friendly. Great little spot for a quick business lunch, or break from shopping in the mall.
Seafood rice is okay but Salmon sushi looks not so fresh, and no Wi-Fi available
Randomly picked this place to meet up with friends and it was a really great find! I got the salmon avocado don with a side of gyoza and it was delicious. The matcha ice cream was amazing too. Definitely will be coming back to try more things :)
The Dons were delicious as always and today we decided to try the Hana Roll as well. Our tastebuds were dancing their socks off with that roll. Its one of the tastiest rolls we have ever had. The foie gras that was placed nicely on top of the Hana Roll melted in our mouths, so creamy. Please try the Hana Roll if youre a foodie.
Food is good. Sashimi is very fresh. Very comfortable environment.
