Personally, I don’t know what everyone’s raving about. I found the dim sum was very oily - especially the fried dishes which aren’t drained enough. The steamed dishes were okay but nothing special. Service was quick but I had the impression that it was to feed us and get rid of us. Two people on my table recommended the place. I don’t.
I came here once of dinner and once for dim sum. I find that dinner service was very good. The lady serving us that evening was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious; we ordered 8 dishes for the 5 of us to share, and we did not even make a dent hahaha... they portions are very big, and we took the rest of the food home. Highly recommend coming here for dinner :) Dim sum was just madness - it was very busy on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30pm, with lots of people standing at the front door. I actually don't like loud and crowded space; we couldn't even speak at the table with just the 4 of us. My voice was completely gone after that. I do not recommend coming here for dim sum, not because the food wasn't good, it was just WAY too loud.
Being here 3 times (dim sum lunch, and dinner), the food quality and service has always been great. One time my wife left her bracelet on the table, and the staff was so caring to collect and store it safely until we pick up the next day. Would definitely recommend.
Solid 3.5stars resteraunt. Staffs are attentive and friendly. We had dinner and food is good. We tried the duck and find it a little dry. Otherwise, the other dishes we ordered taste good. I would definitely revisit this place for lunch/dinner. Highly recommend to make reservation beforehand as this place can get busy during meal time.
Great deal with a $29.99 brunch menu featuring six dishes. All are premium quality, authentic, and come in good portions. It's cash only, like many Chinese restaurants. I recommend arriving early to avoid the lines.
Great dim sum spot with a wide variety of dim sums, all of which were very hot when it arrived at the table. Pricing is fair and flavours are good. Some dishes could use some improvement like the fried sticky dumpling which was a bit undercooked. The restaurant is a bit loud, but better in the back rooms. Service is quick and efficient.
We visited this restaurant in the evening, and it was extremely crowded. We arrived at 8 PM and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We were a group of 5 and ordered a 6-ppl set menu with a 6.5-pound lobster, but despite the weight, it didn’t feel like there was much meat. Nonetheless, the crab roe fried rice was not bad. I wouldn’t recommend the roast duck here. They served the duck in two ways. The carving skills and the flavor of the roasted duck skin was average, have space for improvement. Its side dish such as the carrot and cucumber strips, were very scant—especially the carrot strips, which were even shorter than my pinky finger, not even enough for one person… however, the stir-fried amaranth was pretty good. The service was excellent! But the dining environment was quite noisy, so it might not be suitable for everyone.
禧宴 Joyous Chinese Cuisine is our family's top choice for authentic and delicious Chinese food. The flavors are always spot-on, and the quality is consistently excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive, making each visit feel special. Whether it’s for dim sum or a full dinner, we always leave satisfied and eager to return. It's our go-to spot for celebrating special occasions and enjoying great food in a welcoming atmosphere.
The food was good, but the service was terrible. One of the waiters spilled a bottle of soya sauce all over my new jacket. Although it was an honest mistake, there was no apology, no attempt to clean it, no offer to pay for a cleaning service; they simply threw down a packet of alcohol wipes and left as quickly as they could without saying a word. Now, I have to pay to have it cleaned. This was an extremely disappointing experience.
Overall pretty good. The restaurant is very nicely designed and renovated, very tasteful. Message to the owner, please train your staff ie. Servers and busboys to remove plates from tables when you drop off food. Our tables were overfilling with dirty empty plates. The managers had to constantly clean up. The lady is clearly overworked, we felt bad for her, as her coworkers seems very selfish and would only do the bare minimum. There is zero teamwork or collaboration and customer suffers as a result.
Dinner is consistently good. Food is done well and ingredients are of high quality. Prices are reasonable. Service is generally good especially if a repeat customer. Place is busy so reservations are recommended. Lunch time dim sum is okay but not great. Definitely prefer dinner over lunch.
Pretty average tasting food. For the price, portions could be bigger. The place was pretty packed on a Sunday during the lunch hour.
Very bad experience. Booked a table but still waited 30 minutes to be seated. Tea came so late even after food is served. We asked for tea for 3 times. No chopsticks even. We paid 10% tips for pre tax amount and the manager said it is not enough, did not let us leave. We had to pay even more tips for a terrible service.
Booked table but need to wait half hour for a table. Worst service Ive ever had. Manager ask for more tips at the end. Not recommended
Poor service( waiting more than 15mins for serving teas, no response for request) and they are still asking for tips
Stop DEMANDING your customers to tip on your low standard service. We were asked rudely to give more tips by the staff after we had already tipped. We sat down for 15 minutes with no water and tea served even with several reminders. Also, we kept asking for chopsticks since a pair is missing and waited for several more minutes when the dishes arrived. In terms of the dishes wrapped in dumpling skin i.e. har gow / shrimp dumplings were not up to standard as the skin kept falling off. Overall, it s an unpleasant dining experience.
Worst service, chaotic environment, food is not fresh, don t know how this restaurant opened
1:30 pm. The stir-fried river is not greasy, the ginger, green onion, beef and cypress leaves and mandarin duck sausage rolls are delicious, but the custard Mala cake looks like a bought and prepared snack, so it doesn t need to be called that. Cash discount is available but not much. The manager keeps pushing the suckling pig, and the regular price is $45. But I saw that there were not many customers. The cash price of geoducks is 39.9 per pound. Customers are greeted immediately when they enter the store. Unfortunately, the male manager yells at other employees and the atmosphere is a bit tense. 1:30 PM. The stir-fried rice noodles have a nice wok flavor and arent greasy, and the ginger scallion beef omasum and steamed Chinese Sausage rolls are delicious, but the custard steamed cake tastes like a pre-made snack you buy . Its not worth ordering. Theres a cash discount, but not much. The manager keeps promoting the roast suckling pig, which is $45. However, I noticed not many customers were ordering it. The cash price for geoduck is $39.9 per pound. Customers are greeted immediately upon entering, but unfortunately, the male manager loudly scolds staff creating a somewhat tense atmosphere.
Normally when a Chinese restaurant asks for a cash transactions it s assumed that they will not report that to their taxes and therefore they don t charge a sales tax to the customer. However, this time they told me that the price was cash only and they charged a sales tax (which they of course are not reporting and keeping in their pockets). I was not happy about this but still paid a tip ~9%, and they came back telling us that we didn t give enough for tips. Essentially, they got 13% + 9% and still came back asking for more. This will likely be my last time here.
We went there as a family and ordered the special menu for 8. It said on the menu special cash price. Service was slow bc there was a special event in the reserved room. Food was ok. When the bill came, we saw that 13% HST was added on to the bill and it was a cash deal. Cash deal + 13% HST and no discounts ! We asked for clarification and the reply was yes, cash deal +13% HST is what they do. We left a tip based on the cash deal amount. While we were getting ready to leave, the waiter came to say we didn t leave enough tip, he wanted to be tipped on the amount after HST. So, we gave $390.00 and he wanted $396.00! In my opinion, This restaurant is pocketing the 13% HST ! We weren t the only people questioning them about their billing bc the table behind us was also questioning them, those people requested to be billed with credit card price and they paid with credit card ! We will not be going back there !
Foods were great and service were okay.
A place where you can have morning tea, but the quality of the snacks is very average. If you really don t have anything to eat, you can choose. But the service is still good, you can tip
Food was just okay but service was unfriendly. I can find better food elsewhere.
Delicious food, really happy with finding this place in my area. The beef fried rice, General Tao chicken shrimp dumplings and some rice rolls that were unreal. Oh also get the noodles with flank steak so delicious
Food is fine. Not every dishes are good but most of them are authentic. Busy place, better reserve first. Staff are friendly but just a bit too busy, so they could not serve in time. Food : 4/5
When I walked in, the waiter told me that there was no tea fee, but at the end of the checkout, he said there was a 7.5 tea fee, and threatened to deduct the waiters money if he didnt pay. It is reasonable to suspect that the manager and the waiter are playing a double act to steal money. In the end, the amount of money changed was wrong, so I had to ask for it before giving it all. After doing the above, a 10% tip is mandatory. The innermost part of the durian cake is even cold. Will never come again and dont recommend anyone to come.
Morning tea in North York! A good place to eat, the snacks are fresh and delicious, and there are various set menus and discounts. Highly recommended to everyone
Newly renovated, the ceiling of the hall has been carefully decorated and designed, and the wall behind the door is shining with golden light . The most important thing is that the morning tea snacks are fresh and delicious. The fish is steamed at just the right time to keep the fish meat smooth. Friends who live in North York Come and try it!
food and service are good
This is our goto place for Sunday dimsum. Servers and hosts are friendly and efficient. The space is a renovated modern interior that is well maintained. They have a cash only special dining set that includes (siu mai, har gow, beef rice rolls, tofu dessert, and BBQ pastry? Maybe missing one) dishes that we frequently order and supplement with other dishes. Its a great deal and tasty to boot.
Great spot for dim sum! They use quality ingredients and I ll definitely be coming back!
One of the worst Chinese restaurants I ve ever visited in Toronto. Arrived there at 3.15pm, Kept me waiting for 1hr & 15mins after placing the order, finally decided to give up and walk out when the manager rushed to let me know that the order will take another 15 mins. All the tables were empty as well! If they informed me before placing the order I wouldn t have wasted my time. Don t be fooled by the higher star reviews. Just don t go here it s just a waste of time!
Terrible experience. 1) had made a reservation but the staff gave us a terribly placed table with high foot traffic of staff, so the staff kept knocking over our tea kettle and into our chairs. 2) food was mediocre. Can definitely get better peking duck elsewhere. The soup starter was bad. It was winter melon soup and it was very sour and the meat was poor quality. 3) service was the worst part of this experience. There were a lot of staff to handle the tables, but it was just poor organization and awareness of each tables dishes. We had so many empty dishes sitting on our table for a long time and nobody picked them up until we gestured them to clear our table. 4) we had only ordered four dishes and they forgot one of our dishes, so we talked to two staff on two separate occasions to ask about it. It took so long even after asking about it that we just cancelled it and asked for the bill. They didn t even make up for it. They offered 10% discount on our bill and apologized but only if we paid in cash, which is already a regular thing that Chinese restaurants do anyway. 5) while waiting for our bill, they started to take away all our plates and utensils before dessert came out, so we had no plates or utensils to eat the dessert, which were mango pudding and almond cookies. Terrible etiquette and service. Never going back to this place again.
The food was really good. I especially loved the duck and lobster. Cant wait to try their dim sum.
Food is good. Love their fried lobster with vermicelli.
The service is so bad. 5 snacks are given to 3 takeaway boxes. Can you not afford it, or are you too poor? I checked three times during the packing process. Did I give the money? Why are you afraid that I will skip the order? The service experience is too bad.
Wedding banquet dinner
$110 for 3 people dine in. $8 for a tea pot. 1st time there. Not enough assistance of the food names. They were rushing and rushing to get order and then funny part to ask us to pay before we finish. Weird and unusual treatment. Food with low quality, small portion of meat and huge portion of greasy noodles. Taste just like soy sauce. Wont go again
Came here for my mom s birthday. We were there for dimsum. The food and service was great.
6. Although the food is delicious and the price and portion are good, the service is extremely poor. The service and the quality of the food are extremely separated. Not to mention the bad temper of the ordering waiter. In the end, he still had the nerve to forcefully collect a tip and pay back a small amount. You look impatient, is it possible that the service was not good enough? EDIT: Later I learned that when I went to check out, you came to urge my friend to leave? Invincible, 2 stars are gone, just 1 star
we can take reservations but we dont hold reservations
I had a very disappointing experience at this cuisine. The manager with short hair had an extremely poor attitude and complained about the amount of our tips, insisting that we should give more. Additionally, the turnip cake we were served today was cold, and the turnip itself tasted sour. We will not be returning after this experience.
The ingredients are fresh, the food is delicious, and the business is booming. Make a reservation first.
Theres nothing wrong with it except that its a bit expensive.
All the dishes we have tasted are biased to salty. The price is reasonable.
I rarely write reviews. Ive have bad experiences at restaurants and eatery before but often small things that can be looked past and forgiven. But today was one of my worst experience and I feel bad for the cooks and the other staff because we had such a bad experience this is the first time in my whole life that I didnt leave a tip. We ordered a purple rice shrimp noodle wrap, my mom picked up one piece and was about to bite into it before realizing it was cold. Not to mention this was the 2nd dish that came out cold. So we called the captain over to report it. Since it had shrimp inside we were concerned. My husband placed the back of his finger over the noodle wrap, gesturing that the dish was cold, right away the captain called out my husband for touching the food. Then he took the plate away mumbling that he will do something about it. On the spot my husband asked him to cancel the dish instead. The guy ignored us completely and walked away. Me and my family were shocked, stunned and appalled. A few minutes later he return with the dish even though had asked him to cancel it. I questioned him what he did with it and he said he microwaved it for us. If this was a meat or soap dish I wouldve let it slide. But this particular dish consisted of crispy fried dough wrapped with a bed of noodle skin. If you microwave it, it would become soggy. Also we were unhappy that he took the dish away without consenting us first. We tried to reason with the captain that were not satisfied with how he handle the situation. Basically he blamed us for touching the food before cancelling it. How the hell would we know its cold otherwise? We asked him if he didnt see us touch the food, was he planning on serving it to someone else? He said YES (basically slipped his mouth). Thats when we started raising our voice because we couldnt believe it. Im not sure if other people next to us heard it but I repeated my question again and this time he just said if the food is untouched it would be brought to the back. We voiced our concern then he said this TIME he will help us cancel this order like he was doing us a huge favor. I was so upset, so I asked to speak to the manager or owner but this guy said hes in charge here. We decided to pay and left right away. I regret not getting this guys name, but he wore glasses, had a slim short build with short black hair. Im so upset and angry, Ive never been to a restaurant where they would blame or question a customers actions for reporting a cold dish. Im sure the other staff and workers are nice and hard working people but this guy is a joke. Hes the type that clearly only gives good attitude or service if you order the expensive stuff.
Not recommended, the staffs are rude and food is just so-so. Their payment instruction is unclear. Staff asked for more tips even though we already paid a reasonable amount for the bad service we received.
If there is a negative rating, I would give a negative 5. I came for dinner and the waiters were chatting among themselves with no regard for the customers. Finally, when the waiter took the menu and passed by me, he hit me with the corner of the hard menu, When I mentioned it to him, he did not apology and just said he did not know what happened. I cant believe this is their services in a restaurant!
The food looks good but the taste of them aren t that good, would not recommend eat here.
Food is alright, average Dim Sum quality and price The service was horrible. The lady came to us at 11:10am telling us that they have to yield our table to another reservation. I was shocked and asked her if she was kicking us out when we are still in the middle of our meal. She offered no apology, no solution but only excuses, and expressed that she could do us a FAVOR to see if she could transfer us to another table. My uncle couldnt stand the abuse and told them their service was nothing but disgusting, then miraculously, they didnt need us to move the table and left us alone. It was definitely a confusing and outrageous experience. Please stay away from this place and spend your hard earned money where you are treated as a valuable customer.
A very nice restaurant with delicacies on the menu.
No one handles the front door for booking or get a ticket.Spend money and hire one handles it please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Btw food is good. Food
The soup is actually free of charge. We didnt order it, but we asked if we wanted a special soup. We thought it was a free soup and asked for it, so we were charged 48 yuan. 4 people. Its just a very ordinary soup, with a little meat and something I dont quite know what it is. More expensive than any soup on the menu.
We visited there on a busy Saturday night and ordered their $198 combo for 4. Everything was pretty good until we waited 40 min for stir-fried sticky rice that we ordered mid-dinner that was due to server s recommendation. We were kinda in a rush cuz we had another reservation soon, we asked for the bill and to cancel the rice if it wasnt prepared yet. The server checked with the front desk/kitchen and then came back assured us it was coming soon, but it took another 20-30 min. So we decided to have the bill first but they delayed the bill with excuses about dessert, packing containers, table cleaning etc., even though we wanted to clear the table for the next guests cuz we saw that there s lineup at the front door. Eventually, they brought the rice and the bill almost simultaneously. We quickly tasted the rice and packed it. The final bill was around $250 after tax, and I paid $260 in cash. I meant it because we were really pissed off by this fried rice issue and honestly I don t think it s due to the busyness of the Saturday night, it s simply because they forgot to make the order and it wasted our time for so long. To our surprise, the server returned, pointing out our $10 tip. Given the long wait and our frustration, I was speechless but didn t want to argue in front of our group cuz I didn t want make everyone even more upset and embarrassed, so I paid bill with the tip they wanted by card. Overall, it seemed like they forgot our order and wasted our time. This experience left us very disappointed.
Good spacious dim sum restaurant and decent dim sum. However, the customer service was terrible! We were simply asking for take out containers and this elder female server (in black attire) was so rude. She was complaining and challenging me how I shouldnt waste the container. She even keep dissing us while we were paying for the bill. All because she did not want to provide ONE more container. When a customer ask you for a container, it is common courtesy and just give. Her excuse was, she scared of her boss because the container costs money. It is a restaurant establishment, one container wont loss profit. Please, train your staff properly. Parking: Lots of spaces to park (ground floor and upper floor parking)
I wish I could give zero stars. The food is great, but the service is the WORST I have ever experienced in a restaurant across the US and Canada. We waited more than an hour for a table for five. They put in incorrect order and one dish did not arrive until we were checking out. The server just threw the food on our table rudely. We paid our bill by credit card and intended to add a tip on the receipt. However, the Asian server, who had dyed her hair blonde, came to us and forced us to pay a certain amount as a tip. She entered the tip amount HERSELF on the card machine without asking us, forcing us to pay that amount. This was a ridiculous dining experience. I will never come here again, and I do not recommend this place to anyone. Dont come to this restaurant to eat. It doesnt matter if you wait for an hour. It doesnt matter if there is an error in the order. It doesnt matter if there is a quicksand bag that wont be delivered until checkout. But there was a waiter with dyed blonde hair and shoulder-length hair. Without asking us, she entered the tip on the credit card machine, and then asked us to swipe our card rudely. We originally wanted to write the tip directly on the bill after paying, but the waiter took it upon himself to enter the tip himself and then forced us to pay. I suggest the boss manage his staff well. The food is really good, but dont let the staff ruin the reputation of the restaurant. Tipping is originally based on the service. I originally wanted to give 18% but ended up like this, which made everyone unhappy. I have eaten at so many restaurants in the United States and Canada, and this is the worst dining experience I have had. never come again
We had dinner to celebrate Chinese New Year. I understand that it is a busy time for restaurants and as such staff should be well coordinated and prepared for this occasion. While the food was average, service was lacking. When the food started to arrive, the server did not asked us if we wanted any rice. Just left the food and walked away. Midway to our meal we decided to order an extra dish. We asked for the menu, the waiter acknowledged us and never came back with it. So we asked another waiter to add a fried rice dish which also never arrived. We left this place with no desire to ever come back again.
Andrew the owner is always hospitable and delivers the best services possible. His Managers, Benny and Lily are attentive and professional. This restaurant has excellent chefs. We order different dishes each time. we enjoy them all, especially its live seafood and roasted squad. Dim sum dishes are delicious with many choices. make reservation ahead of time to avoid disappointment. highly recommend.
Very dishonest on tips and bills. Dont go there.
A nice selection of tasty Chinese food; the large amounts.
Excellent food.
Great dim sum. Only dish I would skip next time is the Thai fish cake and the lobster combo (not worth the portion size).
We ordered a fish dish, it was awful. Taste was plain, and smells so bad. Manager s attitude was terrible.
I wish I could rate this restaurant zero star. The food was so horrible and the manager s (on duty 8/14 noon) attitude was terrible. The fish we ordered wasn t fresh and was cooked awfully.
We come here for yum cha (dim sum) regularly. The food is consistently good. Everything is hot. The restaurant has been renovated nicely. The washrooms are clean. It can get busy and noisy, but most Chinese restaurants are like that. I would recommend coming here for dim sum. The servers have been polite to us on numerous occasions.
It was my first time here, for a banquet in the private room. The food quality was great and the atmosphere was modern and quite nice in all parts of the restaurant. The main dining room was also quite busy at dinnertime, so it must be a popular place. Would recommend!
cha was not that flavourful after multiple refills. Dim sum was not bad. Interior decoration is refined and nice.
Food was good. Super crowded and loud restaurant which is common for Chinese restaurants. Parking is plenty.
One of the best Chinese restaurants I have been there. The combination of good tasty foods, perfect customer service and nice interior design. A lot of parking space. Very clean and organized. Overall I recommend this restaurant.
Atmosphere Joyous Chinese Cuisine boasts an elegant and inviting atmosphere. The interior is beautifully decorated with traditional Chinese elements, featuring a blend of modern and classic aesthetics. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Service The service at is top-notch. Staff members are attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu. They are quick to assist with any requests and ensure that diners have a pleasant experience from start to finish. Food The cuisine at is a delightful fusion of traditional and contemporary Chinese dishes. Here are some highlights from the menu: - **Dim Sum**: A variety of dim sum options are available, each crafted with precision and high-quality ingredients. Favorites include the har gow (shrimp dumplings) and siu mai (pork dumplings). - **Peking Duck**: The Peking Duck is a must-try. It is expertly prepared, with crispy skin and tender meat, served with traditional pancakes, hoisin sauce, and scallions. - **Seafood**: The seafood dishes are fresh and flavorful. The Salt and Pepper Squid and the Steamed Fish with Ginger and Scallions are particularly noteworthy. - **Noodles and Rice**: The selection of noodles and rice dishes caters to various tastes. The Yangzhou Fried Rice and the Beef Chow Fun are both delicious and generously portioned. - **Vegetarian Options**: There are several vegetarian dishes available, such as the Stir-Fried Vegetables and the Mapo Tofu, ensuring that all dietary preferences are accommodated. #### Value While prices at may be slightly higher than average, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience justify the cost. Portions are generous, and the attention to detail in the presentation and flavors makes it worth the price. #### Overall Joyous Chinese Cuisine offers a memorable dining experience with its exquisite food, excellent service, and elegant atmosphere. Its an ideal place for those looking to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine in a refined setting. Highly recommended for both regular dining and special celebrations.
What was Paradise is now Joyous. What looks unassuming on the outside is an expansive and modern dining area on the inside. Good dimsum in particular their fried Taro dumplings, BBQ pork turnovers, and siu mai are quite tasty. Attentive and efficient service. Cash only. Parking at this plaza is always a challenge so on weekends get there early like around 10 to beat the rush that starts at 11am.
First time there and swear will not come back ever. Setup is very tight, chairs are hitting chairs type. Dont expect server will automatically clean up your table. I had to take my dirty plates and put at another ready to clean up table as I have been asking server to come but they ignored. We found out last served food (cake) left over stick inside the bamboo tray and they said thats not dirty just our chef decided to remove the cake for some reason. That is not dirty.....Given their services are so great, they expect people will give them at least 15% tips. Again, if your service meets the Great level of expectations. They called us out immediately saying we didnt give enough tips saying its under 10%. Bill is at 118.74 and we paid 130 and they said its not enough. They rounded up to 120 and calculate the tips from that and called us out we didnt tip them enough. At the end, we had to take the calculator out and do the calculations in front of them.
Normally I don t expect excellent services at some Chinese restaurants except good foods but this place gave us the worst experience ever. The lady came to us and ask if we would like to have some tea then we said we were good and she started having attitude to us. When we checked bills and saw tea was charged for $20, I asked the manager and said extra money can go for tip (we left some tips already). The manager checked with the reception and came to us while we were opening the door to leave to ASK for MORE TIPS because it was not enough. OMG!! That was speechess to us and we had to pay more tips to be able to leave the place. Although they have good foods, I don t recommend everyone to come here for dining.
Service was really slow. Like 75 minutes after ordering to get food slow. Food was honestly pretty mid.
This review is about our lunch/dimsum experience. My parents live close by so this has been their go-to restaurant for many years, even before it was Joyous. Luckily in addition to proximity, the quality food is also excellent. This is considered a fine-dining establishment so there is more attention to detail in service, presentation of dishes, and style of dishes (less casual, more formal). The seating is much more comfortable in these types of restaurants because they are often very clean, well managed, better chairs, and more spacious for an elevated dining experience. The dim sum prices are actually very reasonable, and of all the dishes I ve tried, they rate at least an 8/10 and above. They do not skimp on the quality of ingredients and it reflects visually and in the taste. There also features special chef recommendations. I really appreciate the fact that they have stir-fried sliver noodles. This dish was more popular in the 80 s and is hard to find. Reminds me of my childhood! All the staples are well done - har how, siu mai, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, steamed pork buns, deep fried tofu skins, Chiu chow dumplings, etc. I ve been here several times with my parents and have never had a bad experience.
the dim sum was just ok. Restaurant looks clean and service are not bad
Waited for long time to get the dim sum we ordered. Food quality is below average and doesn t match the higher price. I would go to other restaurants in Markham or Richmond Hill.
The food is decent but not great for the price. The roast pork skin is a bit tough to chew but good flavour. Steam marble goby is $100+ and over cooked. The kang Kong veggie has super long stems and incredibly difficult to eat. Would recommend for people with fiver deficiency
service was absolutely trash. wanted 2 bags for 2 containers for 2 people, waitress responded by saying What? Why? and looking at us weirdly. Then, we preferred to pack the food ourselves so we can split it a bit unevenly, in spite of numerous waitresses offering to pack for us. manager scolded them in a not very pleasant tone directly in front of our faces, making us feel bad. This is only the tip of an iceberg. Felt judged, stared at, and uncomfortable the whole time in this restaurant. Due to my experience I opted for a 5% tip at the end. Waitress demanded I give them $5 more, claiming oh tip is not included in the bill you know. If it wasnt for the relatively generous pricing for a group of 2 I will never ever ever come again.
Food was excellent, plenty of choices at reasonable prices. Service was fine. Super busy and quite noisy.
Very nice place with delicious food. Good portions. Service is excellent. I would definitely come back.
I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the food and service at the restaurant. The steam pork roll was not hot at all when it was served to us. Furthermore, when we received the bill, we left a tip, but the waitress informed us that the tip was not included and asked for an additional amount. Despite this, we decided to leave more tips. I strongly advise against trying this place unless you want to experience how disappointing they truly are. I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the food and service at this restaurant. The steamed pork rice rolls were not hot at all when they arrived at our table. Additionally, when we received the bill, we left a tip but the waitress told us the tip was not included and asked for an additional tip. Still, we decided to leave a bigger tip. I highly recommend not trying this place unless you want to experience first hand how disappointing they are.
Don t spend your money here, the dims sums are not worth. The siu mai has a funny smell and the steamed rolls are cold when served. The staff has the poorest attitude! Qianqi is not okay Expensive, hard to eat, poor quality Siew mai tastes terrible and smelly The quality is not worth the price Staff attitude is very bad The food is served cold I went to the manager before and was told that I could get a 10% discount by showing my VIP card. Even pictures are fine Another employee said no this time and had a very bad attitude. Ask another employee and say yes. ? !
Great place for din sum.
Nice, warm environment, clean, good price, good service.
Very tasty and very nice decor. The only complaint is that the vegetables are a bit too oily. Food
New chinese restaurant at Finch Leslie Square. They serve good dim sum at average size portions and average prices. Lots of people order the dessert/dim sum platter. Servers are polite and provide quick responses. The restaurant is packed on weekends, but you can make reservations. They also offer fresh seafood. I will return again.
Completely mediocre, before even taking the high prices into account. The Peking duck still had unrendered fat on the sliced pieces of meat, and the fish wasnt very tender. Not recommended.
The fried rice and siu mai are delicious!
Our first time trying this restaurant will be the last for me. I know that everyone is celebrating fathers day tonight but our meals are all blend and Luke warm with no taste.
Weve come here twice; for dim sum and a family dinner and the food was good both times. The har gow was the highlight of our dim sum meal and the tower of desserts was also nice. Their shrimp rice roll has vegetables in it, which might not be a hit for everyone. For our dinner feast starter, the soup made with fresh fish and preserved egg was both rich and appetizing. The early course of crispy pork was scrumptious but outrageously overpriced. The Peking duck with flour wraps and veggies was expertly prepared, delicately crispy, and delicious. Their stir fried fish fillet entree was a highlight with the perfectly cooked fresh fish and mushrooms. Dinner dessert offerings included buttery cookies and mango pudding (more of a gelatin dessert), both which were lightly sweetened and satisfying. However, the red bean dessert soup was bland since it was watery and contained scant amounts of red bean. If you have anyone with food allergies in your party, beware of inaccurate information on ingredients from the servers.
Very good food & great service!
Went there for a Sunday dim sum. A giant line of people waiting, as expected. The reservation was not honoured, as we waited for 1.5 hours before we were seated at the smallest table for 9. Seemed understaffed, as no one had time to stop and grab our order or return with the water refill. Food was alright, dim sum was overhyped, a tad disappointing. The Beef Ho Fun was the highlight, beautifully fried up, right amount of seasoning. The Chicken Lotus Rice was quite nice as well, lean meats and good flavour. Probably wait until the hype dies down to try again.
Was at restaurant 2 days ago. Am very impressed with the cleanliness and food service. Would come again in the future
Excellent, good food Parking: Indoor and outdoor Food : 5/5 |
The service is good and so is the atmosphere! It s just that the speed of serving dim sum is very slow! I sat down and waited for a long time but still didn t get anything to eat. Maybe the kitchen was understaffed and the food was very mediocre! The Feng Chow felt not steamed thoroughly, and the durian cake was not crispy and hard, which was a bit disappointing.
Its great, the food and atmosphere are perfect! I love the decorations
Food and service is VERY GOOD
Solid dim sum option in the heart of North York. There s not many to choose from, but this place manages to hold its own well against the neighbouring options in Scarborough, Markham, and Richmond Hill. The inside is spacious and nicely decorated, with lots of seating and tables available that are spaced out. Service is attentive and friendly for a dim sum place. There s an expansive dim sum menu available. Portions vary, with some dishes have generous portions and others being smaller. Overall, the steamed dishes were better value for money, the baked ones were small. Quality wise things were good to alright. All in all a good dim sum option if you re in North York.
Made reservation for 11:45am, wasnt seated until 45min later at 12:30pm. Service is rushed with zero to no manners. The manager actually started swearing at his staff in cantonese in front of everyone (DLLM) lol. Tables are places very closed to one another to the point where chairs would rub. Food was ok, but deep-fried items were very very oily. Will not be returning.
Was quite disappointed after actually trying out their food after passing by many times....the beef was not tender at all, felt rubbery while costing $30....
Very tasty banquet-style food. Seafood was fresh and the presentation is very solid. Really enjoyed the angus beef and the duck. Only complaint is that service was a bit disorganized (perhaps due to the restaurant being so busy).
The good part was most of the Dimsum orders came 4 pcs and the down size was the food was too bland for my liking. I didnt enjoy their chicken feet where the dish had not enough taste and undercooked still. My parents enjoyed the lunch cuz its similar to their cooking where they usually didnt put salt or very minimum on their all cooking dishes.
Vegetarian options: Great options if you dont eat meat. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend. Food
The dim sum standards here are very tasty. My favourite was the siu mai - good size and flavourful. Came for a special occasion and everyone loved it. My only gripe was that we were charged $2.50 per person for tea. Otherwise, I recommend the dim sum here!
On Mothers Day, there are few choices and the price is not worth it. The food is very thin. The longevity buns are pitifully fine. Become a water fish.
Our family with 19 persons enjoyed a wonderful Mothers day dinner last Sunday at Joyous. Delicious food, portions are good and. we have lots of left overs to take home after. their ribs is a must try
Very delicious Hong Kong dim sum place in the North York area. Love it.
Awesome food and great hot water. Very nice egg tarts. Kid-friendliness: Very kind. Food : 4/5 |
Very disappointed. Lemon chicken & Angus Beef are much below expectations.
Make sure you dont trust the online reservation system. They will tell you that you have reserved a table but once you get there, they just put you on the waitlist and brush you off by saying everyone reserved a table so its first come first serve. What a joke. All the hosts are rude and they obviously cant handle a big crowd. What a let down.
Terrible food and terrible service. Discriminates.
Very drclicius good and good service
Bad experience! We had a reservation online and came on time. However, we need to lineup again for long time! ! So what s the point for have the reservation?????? Waste my time!
Food is Delicious. Highly Recommend.
Good food Good services Will definitely come back
The decoration of the newly opened restaurant is very luxurious. There are many luxury cars parked in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is of good quality. I especially appreciate that they have made many special dim sum. The restrooms are also very clean, especially for the disabled. Prices are very reasonable too.
39.99 dim sum set is good!
Reservation online is pointless as when you go they made you wait with all the walk-in customers. So waiting time is hours, unable to try the food!
We made a reservation in hopes of getting there and getting a table on arrival due to having an elderly with us (cant stand and wait for too long). On arrival, we were told that despite our table reservation, we would still have to grab a number and wait.... Would not recommend...whats the use of making a reservation if I would have to wait like everyone else...
Been there twice already and each time the food is GREAT and excellent service. We had the set menu and it was a lot of food for even 6-8 people. Loved the atmosphere. Restaurant is quite busy on the weekends so make sure you make a reservation! Will definitely be back very soon!
Food was very good and the inside is decorated nice. Cash only. Would recommend.
Good restaurant. Nice service
Wonderful food.
Great dim sum deal and beautiful, clean space!
I enjoy coming here.
Nice newly renovated interior. A high variety of dim sum and dining options, recommended.
The food is rich and the environment is very good. It s worth a visit.
Excellent customer service! Clean and spacious, delicious food!
First time here and will come again for sure
First time trying the food here. We went on Easter Sunday so it s super crowded, but the service is relatively quick and friendly. The food was served in a leisurely paced, not overwhelming and help you enjoy the tea thoroughly. The food is great, we really like the congee (pork, preserved egg) and hargow, and shumai. Will revist
I heard from a friend that the newly opened Jubilee Banquet has good products, has been renovated, and feels comfortable. As a diner, I am looking forward to trying the all-inclusive dim sum set recently launched by the store. I hope to have a taste of it.
Joyous Chinese Cuisine offers an exquisite dim sum experience. From shrimp har gow to crispy spring rolls, each dish is expertly crafted and thoughtful. With attentive service and an inviting atmosphere, its a must-visit for dim sum lovers in the GTA!
Pleasant dim sum experience at Joyous. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday and they were able to sit us quickly. We got the promo set meal and the sticky rice meat dumpling was my favourite. The har gow had whole shrimps as the filling which was good.
we had a dinner before and decided to try dim sum this time Sunday 11:30am. we called 1 day earlier asking if they took reservation during this busy time and the gentleman said yes. when we arrived, the girl gave us a number and put our names in the log book. we lined up just like the rest waiting. I asked the girl why you took a reservation if we lined up after we arrived. obviously, no answer from her. I would rather they told me no reservation and we planned accordingly. it was busy. we are a party of 3 and most tables were for a bigger party. the food was just ok. prices were acceptable. they did not offer discounted prices when you checked out early. the mall were exceptional busy during that time and I could still find parking in walking distance.
Nicely renovated restaurants with friendly staff and good service and dim sum!
Great food and atmosphere! Minimal wait time as well (:
Dim sum pretty good. Newly renovated with good atmosphere.
It s great to see a new Chinese restaurant open up in this plaza. The food is super tasty. We really liked the crunchy shrimp roll in rice noodle. Another one of our favs is the spareribs rice . Great place for dim sum. This place is also great for dinner. The dishes have great wok hei and a great variety. My kids love their Peking duck. Must try. Vegetarian options: The restaurant accommodates for vegetarian diets. Lots to choose from .
Services good. Food delicious and hot. Friendly atmosphere. Parking: Plenty if needed Wheelchair accessibility: very convenient
Had dim sum here, jumbo shrimp har gow is good. Service is good too. Definitely will come back with my friends.
The server, Lily, is the best! She is so friendly and helpful with menu selection. The food is very delicious and not too salty.
If this is the first time you are going to the restaurant the entrance is to the right of the windows where you can see in. It is nice and bright inside. The decor is new and the service is adequate. The food was delicious and good-sized. The best dish was the crispy sesame beef cubes, it came out piping hot, crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. Salt & pepper seafood was always very nicely done. Along with the chicken dish that rounded out my top 3 for the night. Planning on going back!
We ordered dinner for two at $158. The bird nest soup was scrumptious. The steamed lobster was done to perfection. Pork, scallop with snow pea and king mushrooms was great. Finish off with stir fried glutinous rice and dessert.
Newly renovated Chinese restaurant. The food is very tasty and the service is good. Complimentary dessert. Plenty of free parking. Almost 5 stars.
Came to try their dim sum promotion. Delicious and very generous portion.
Quick service
Lobster noodle and steamed codfish are very delicious
Very busy place but food and service were very good! Received a lot of good recommendations that we will order again!
Delicious dim sum resist food Worth eating restaurant
This is a newly renovated restaurant from the previous one, which has the same owner as Orient Bistro. We go to Orient Bistro most of the time, so 1st time trying this one out recently. The environment is clean and tidy, very spacious and bright. Dimsum is delicious and portion is big. Customer service is awesome as usual just like Orient Bistro. I especially like the fried fish. The only drawback is the lack of parking space outside the restaurant. Will definitely come back when i am in the surrounding.
Nice newly renovated dim sum restaurant! We came with my family for dim sum brunch and Id like to come back to try their dinner menu next!
First time at this restaurant since they opened, pretty interior and great service. We got the dim sum platter for 2 and it was plenty of food with a great selection! Will be back :)
Great!
The deal is good!! Would love to be back again.
Great food and staff! The food are very traditional and reminds me of home :)
Nice food, fair price
If you are looking for bad service and ok food, this is the place.
Busy spot with new interiors, with overpriced bland food (except pastries, the skins are thin, light, and flaky, recommend their Char Siu Pastry) and SELF-SERVICE : After more than 10 times of ignorance by staffs, I realised I had to leave my seat and hand the filled form for ordering ask staff for scissors to portion food hand Tea Pots out for refills ask staff for Worcestershire sauce (which should alongside with beef balls in convention) hand my bills to counter for check bill return the bills holder with cash, we doesn t expect of the change Then the manager first time appears but saying we need to pay them tips, and I honestly think their food quality and services are not even worths the change we left to them. So far the worst Dim Sum experience in Toronto, I hope they could seek improvement of their service from the other shop, like legend in Thornhill. Ps. They don t have cash discount, except you are a VIP cardholder. But no ways I would return to this spot. Remarks: Saturday, 13:00, $26 per person, queuing for around 20 minutes
Excellent congee and shrimp dumplings!
We had dinner at the Jubilee Banquet for two nights in a row. Tonight we tried the fish, shrimp and crab set menu for six people. The stewed soup was so good, so moist and sweet. The hand-shredded chicken was filled with the aroma of sesame sauce as soon as it was served. The chicken was delicious and tender. The dragon croquette balls are tender and smooth, the double lobsters with golden sand are really delicious and the shrimp taste is very refreshing. In addition, the golden sand cake made with enough salty yellow is wrapped in golden sand, which is salty and refreshing. The fried rice with lobster paste is very fragrant and big. After the meal, we also had healthy sugar-reduced sugar water, crunchy pastry and super fragrant mango parfait made with mango pulp. Ying changed the plates for us twice, and they were very enthusiastic. Overall, this package brought me happiness and joy. A delicious meal and a dinner worth remembering. I will recommend it to more friends. Good things should be known to more people.
After ordering, I waited for a long time but the food was not served. I urged it three times and waited for at least 50 minutes before the food was served, which was a waste of my time. In addition, there are not many types of food on the menu, they are a bit expensive and the portions are small. Food ordered beef cypress leaves. Niu cypress leaves have no taste of ginger and green onions at all. They taste like rubber and are very unpleasant to eat. The rest of the food was completely lackluster. Will never come again
Came here for dimsum and place was pretty busy for a Monday. Food was actually really good! Definitely would come back again
Very delicious!
They need to offer more combo deals. Went there few times, already bore of the combos Food
Great looking restaurant. New renovations are amazing. Food is very tasty and pricing is fair. Service is quick.
good service, price reasonable
I have been to Joyous before and it was ok. Tonights food was ok, nothing special. The service was terrible though. I asked for the food to be packed up and had to do so 3 times before someone did. I asked for the check 4 times before it was brought over. The service staff seemed not willing to do any work although they seemed to be busily walking around. I would not go there again.
Have been there for few times, steady quality of food, nicely presented. Staff are nice and friendly. As we have been there few times, staff recognize usual customers and have a nice and warm feeling. We love their steam chicken buns, soft and tasty. Their barbecue baby pork is also my favourite. Vegetarian options: Black fungus appetizer, .fried Chinese broccoli, efu noodles
Nice environment, lots of choices, and reasonable prices!
Great services and excellent food.
The dim sum tower comes with quite a few items, all very delicious. Cash deal and Google review special on now until end of month. The rest of the a la carte dim sum was also pretty good. Definitely interested in trying their dinner soon one day.
Actually good dim sum
Great dim sum place! Very delicious food and nice staff.
Well priced, taste good
Great foods and reasonable prices
We had a beautiful dining experience! So many good options perfect to share! Ambience and deco is so fancy and clean! The steamed lava egg yolk buns were the best!
Good food
Wonderful atmosphere, great food and a great place for brunch/dim sum.
Great place to have dim sum and seafood
The decor here and overall comfort was phenomenal and so was the food. There is a current promo which includes a dim sum platter, hargow, congee and 2 other dishes. Place is clean and tea was great!
Awesome service and food!
The most disgusting food ever. And the service is bad! They just be like our food is like this, I don t care you like or not
Very clean and expensive looking restaurant. The food is good and they do have some unique options. I went with my family during the special promotion where they have a set course presented in stacked dishes. It was quite a unique experience.
Love the beef with fried milk
Delicious
Good quality foods. Highly recommend
