Absolutely disgusting. I just ordered the most basic plate. Jerk chicken and rice and it was so nasty I walked out. It smelled expired and it tingy smell. I wouldn't even recommend my enemy to eat here. Horrible wasted 17 dollars
My husband visited this restaurant today to buy himself some lunch while working. He ordered oxtail with rice and peas and as per the menu it states the meal comes with cucumber. She gave 3 strands of cabbage and he asked why he received the cabbage and why is food was reheated in the microwave and smelt like it had been sitting for days. She instantly started screaming at my husband and refused to rectify is order or give him a refund. She started recording him and called the police because he wanted his money back. Other customer's in the establishment were even telling him the way he was treated was wrong and that this is the reason they have no business here! I WILL BE GOING BACK myself and if she feels she wants to get police involved she is more them welcome. DONT GO HERE !!!!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
This is my go to place for Carribean food, everything I've had here is absolutely delicious. At my most recent stop in I had jerk chicken roti that was very good - get it boneless, just makes it a little easier to eat. I also had curry goat with rice and beans that was bomb. And finished it off with a Red Stripe and Plantains which is actually an awesome combo. 🤤
Went for lunch, interior was pretty old but functional. Super friendly guy at the front, had jerk chicken, roti and one of the appetizers. All satisfying and filling food, well cooked, felt very much like comfort food. I really liked the tamarind sauce that came with the appetizers.
Service was whatever. Wasn't friendly or unfriendly. They have a sign outside that says daily special, but when asked about it, the man told me that's only for students. Why not say student special then? Ordered the jerk chicken and it is bland with slight spice. The rice and peas is disgusting though. It's wet and mushy. I asked for coleslaw or veggies and they didn't have any. Only had some cabbage sprinkled on top. I also asked for oxtail gravy on the rice and the man refused saying it wouldn't taste good. I got the regular jerk gravy and that doesn't taste good either. I only came here because it's the only Carribean place walking distance from my work. Not going back ever.
A local bar, with amazing Chilli shrimp. I come here mostly because it's the best option in flemo to have a drink, watch a game or the news and spend time with the locals/regulars that come here. The staff are wonderful, Brendon in particular is professional, welcoming and wholesome. If you do come here make sure you get the Chilli shrimp. You will not be disappointed.
The food was decent, but I was thrown off by the stale smell in the restaurant. I seriously questioned whether I wanted to eat here, but based on reviews and my hunger at the time I decided to try it out. The Jerk chicken was seasoned nicely, but I think the chicken may have been re-heated more than once as the thigh seemed a little dry. The rice and peas were ok. For $6.50 cash, it was an OK lunch special. The stale smell and the fact the server handled my unprotected plastic fork with his bare hands and only included ONE napkin, this place is lucky it got 2 stars.
Amazing place! In my rotation. All time favourite is the chicken on the ruff. It’s a half fried chicken on fried rice for around $11. They have lunch combos for like $6. Everything is always fresh and hot!
Chicken fried rice . So good.
The cashier is rude.
Big mistake trying this place. It tastes like they are cooking high heat from a teflon pan. Its a weird burnt flavour even though it wasnt burnt. The Chili chicken had very little chicken. Like 5 bites. It was way too expensive for really low quality. Salty. I always try new places, but this was the worst food (i ordered 3 dishes) Ive had in 5, maybe 10 years. I should have asked what they recommend.
Very dark and has negative vibes. Food is horrible. Please do not go here. Trust me.
The sign for the daily specials is still posted outside with the prices scratched off. The guy at the counter said they dont offer the daily specials anymore. Expect to pay > $11 without tax if youre looking for a good deal. Overall server was still friendly
Service was quick for a takeout, ordered a jerk and chow mein and left in less than 10 mins. The jerk is bland, has slight heat and the skin is wet and loose, not the slightest crisp. The chow mein is much the same but good noodle to meat ratio. Serving sizes are standard and wife menu. The place is dark and uninviting, I walked in and didnt think I was in the right place for a couple seconds until I saw the counter on the right.
Ordered today: 1. Ox tail soups = 2 2. Vegetables= 1 3. Jerk chicken. Very little meat. Almost none . Its ridiculous!!! $50 for potatoes and rice !!! Never come back to this place !!!
Badly prepared jerk chicken they need to use fresher ingredients not two years old, rice not properly cooked, soup was supposed to have shrimp but had mostly dough. I was hoping things had changed after going after a year in hopes of a better cook but not the case. Overpriced and poor quality still.
Jerk chicken roti was 50% potatoes and 10% salt.
They dont know how to cook
Good food good service Thanks all
Used to come here because the oxtail was amazing. Last year I gave it another try with hopes it would be better. It wasn t. Just last week I was in the area and gave it another go. Sadly it s even worse and has like 4 pieces of oxtail with little meat mainly bones. A few sprinkles of cabbage. Even the hot sauce I used to love was watered down. Definitely my last visit.
Very friendly atmosphere. Good food and fast service. Brandon was a super host. Will definitely go back ..Imtaz
My review is not intended to embarrass any establishment, but hopefully, they can use this as a motivation. I got oxtail and rice and peas, and my rice was literally swimming in water (or gravy). Oxtail gravy is supposed to be thick, but this was watery. The oxtail wasnt seasoned properly, and it was stewed fully. Seem they just rewarm the food in a microwave. The plantain was superb, though!!!!! The service was okay. Honestly, the restaurant needs a makeover. It felt cramped and worn. Im not sure why every Caribbean restaurant in Toronto doesnt invest in interior design and creating an atmosphere for enjoyment. Personally, I will not go back to this restaurant.
Brandon at the bar is a very nice guy and gives nice suggestions for food
Second visit had the goat roti. It was tender and the roti was roting chefs kiss definitely a vybe and will return
Total ripoff. Ordered shrimp wonton. There were 12 tiny pieces that bore no resemblance whatsoever to the picture on the menu. There was so little shrimp they could ve made the 12 pieces with just one shrimp. I m not exaggerating. I paid $8 for a few pieces of fried flour. I fed this garbage to seagulls.
Food was really tasty
Dont buy food from this place, all they serve is old microwave food, Im experiencing the third time now, this place must be shut down for public safety
Had a nice jerk chicken roti. Service was friendly.
Nice big portions and delicious food. It isnt usually busy at lunchtime, so the wait isnt too bad. Love the boneless goat curry!
Wonderful service always pleasent chicken wings are the best and their home made hot sauce is amazing
Food was terrible Ordered wanton soup, which was okay, basic. We also ordered special fried rice with chicken on top. Chicken was reddish, orange with no flavour and the same for the fried rice, with litle pieces of beef that looked smaller than raisons. Go to Mulans or McDonalds if you must eat at Flemingdon Plaza
Terrible food. I googled it and drove there to get some food because the reviews weren t bad but trust me this place sells the worst food i ever tasted. So bland and tasteless. The portion size of the oxtail i ordered was ridiculous. Don t waste your time and money eating here. It s not worth it!!!
My sister & I just moved to the Flemington Park area & were looking for good caribbean restaurant we found it. Great food, friendly staff, very clean & good prices. I highly recommend this place.
The oxtail is perfectly cooked, I mean fall of the bone and extremely soft! The rice and peas were so flavorful. Also got the jerk chicken which was perfectly cooked too. Hidden gem in Flemingdon Park!
Delicious food the prices are very good and you can sit down and eat there.
Came here all the time with my dad growing up miss this spot
Great crew
The worse customer service and food was not fresh at all vomit the food after eating. It was my first time going there with my kids and mother.really had bad experience. As soon inter the restaurant I dislike inside,I ask the guy who took order I said is it really fresh making said yes,but it wasnt at all. When Bringing napkins with forks,he just put it on table without plates. One of my kid sat on table infant of me he is only 2 years old recently took out his 4 teeths having pain not in mood. One lady came up winter hat on her with very unprofessional style very rude way she is iike put him down will get hurt and telling me what kind mom are you in hospital when give birth the Dr didnt tell you .I felt so bad how she start telling me that.i didnt even start eating I told her wow is that the way you treat your customers. Everything has way of good talking. Then she is like let me call police on you then will tell you. I was like totally shocked how a worker or whoever works threatening like that a customer with 2 small kids. But I hope my kids not getting food poison by there food totally not fresh ,I will never recommend there to any one. The worse worse service ever. I didnt take any action bcz I was with my kids and mother but I will come talk to the head office Im really disturbed un happy .
Excellent jerk and curry chicken. Love the mixed chow mein and other fusion options. Great service! Vegetarian options: Noodles with veggies, lo mein, etc. Parking: Lots of free parking available.
One the best rotis I have had in a long time. Curry goat roti had tons of gravy flavour and brought me back to eating roti when I was young. Good memories. If the owner reads this, message me so I can franchise a takeout spot in the West end Joking not joking.
Good place to get a good bite, some hot water and beer.........unfortunately with Covid its only take away otherwise a good place to sip and chill.......meet a lot of good people.
Im Guyanese, Ive been eating carribean food my whole life, ive also been eating at this place since it first opened 20 years ago. I know they have new owners probably a new chef, but place has the worst quality food to date. Everything from the taste to the overall quality. I ordered pepper shrimp it was disgusting and such a small amount of shrimp same goes for the chilli chicken they put more vegetables than anything. Rice was like mush noodles tasted off, just terrible food. it s a shame to see where this place has gotten to. I will never eat from here again. Too bad tropical nights isnt closer
One of the best roti in the gta
Not a Caribbean restaurant- some type of Chinese restaurant with some Caribbean food that does not have the authentic Caribbean flavor.
Bought some food I had to throw it chicken was too red on the inside
Im a white boy, I can deal with some spice coming to a Carribean place. But, I expanded my palette and tried Ox Tail for the first time. You have to love the meat and every ingredient to get all the flavours like they do, but you will not be disappointed if you are looking for a flavour bomb in your face palace! Aaaaaaaaaand then I ordered the beef heal soup for dessert..... oh goodness. I couldnt pay Amazon enough to get the words to describe this soup. Yes, you have to get a bib, because you wont be able to keep it off your clothes you will devour it so fast. That heal wont even see it coming! All the love!
Well I can see why there s 4 start rating, this man was very rude. I ask him if he can do a combo for me he says what you see is what you get. I won t spend my money here customers is what y all need.. please do better.
Just ordered for pick up for two daily specials fried chicken and fired rice and was charged for a large meals at $25, I wasnt trying to start an argument but there is no difference from the daily special expected for the amount of rice which should have came with chicken in it...and NO flavor!!! Complete rip off!!!! I will never go back considering Ive been going there for about 8 years. They just trying to rip people off which is disrespectful at this point especially to your regular customers.
Very busy place during meals hours
Delicious
Excellent food and great service along with affordable pricing
Very rude customer service... Very dirty inside....
Dont trust the reviews for this restaurant. They got 1 star reviews from customers and now got dozens of 5 stars reviews within just a couple months. Look at all the 5 star reviewers and they are robots. Look at the robots profile and you see they dont even live in Toronto rather they review places all over the world, because they dont exist! Even their reviews have nothing to do with the restaurant for instance the common reference to great rates. Its fake! Imagine how terrible this restaurant is doing that they need to pay for reviews. The food, decor, and owners/employees are horrible. Dont trust a business that needs to pay for reviews! Very dishonest. Trust me, youll get better service and food at the McDonalds next door!
Good place.good food
Meh. Hate to leave a bad review but a smile from the staff would go a long way. I ordered pumpkin on rice and they gave me sooo much rice and soooo little pumpkin. The plantains are way too oily (but I think some people like it that way). Not a fan of this place.
Cool taste of Caribbean in the neighborhood.
Been Here Multiple Times. Food is great, and the prices are amazing. Stew Chicken with rice and peas is 5 Star.
Really good food, 2 thumbs up. Keep coming back any time I am in the neighbourhood.
Low standard food. Not worth your money. Not friendly. Rude. STAY AWAY.
Good food but portions are too small for the regular priced foods
Too salty but they have LLBO
Tasty & filling
Very disappointed, quality has gone down. Menus need to be updated since the pricing for the specials have changed. Portions are smaller, but overall I give it a 1.
A1 family atmosphere
Stale food. Worst jerk chicken and roti. Not a good place to sit and eat with family. All my food went in trash.
You get what you pay for.
OK its a where you can get a few Caribbean drinks, food and WiFi. However, its not exactly a hot spot. So in order to have a good time there bring a few friends.
Stew chicken is solid
The best place to eat Caribbean food.
Food is good
Local
Okay decent place
Awesome curry and roti
Rude and food is mediocre
Music or television whichever is always too loud in this restaurant. If you go to owner to request to slow down a bit plzz. The owner is always arrogant very arrogant with attitude Never smiled
Hidden gem in Flemingdon park.
Good food, staff are alright, they change a lot prices are good
It s definitely a steal for good food and very affordable price. The jerk chicken special is so flavourful with the heat .
$5 daily special fried chicken and fried rice is best
Very friendly staff
Friendly staff. Great Food. Highly recommended
Good fried rice
Fairly nice. No good experience
Great juicy Roti served warm and fresh.
Hole in the wall meets dive bar meets Caribbean diner. Tasty roti with an extensive menu of delights. The service was attentive and regulars came and went all in all a great meal
Very good food and price service is good owner is friendly
Consistently delicious. They have some geat vegetarian/vegan dishes too (not just meat!)
Messed up owner lady. Rude. How they have a business is beyond me. Save your money and go somewhere else. Food sucked
Need a new cook .wery badly .
Brandon is the best! Super nice guy.Dont know if hes the owner but hes a great 1st impression when you walk in. Had my first meal there today and it was great. Portions are huge- I have enough for another meal. Did take out but had a drink while waiting and there was a steady stream of customers. Now I know why- great prices and good quality, freshly made food.
it was crap
Good, cheap Jamaican food in a cafeteria-like atmosphere. A larger selection of beers than youd expect from a budget plaza restaurant.
Tasty and fresh.
Roti was amazing. Great prices too.
Jerk chicken was great. Paid $4.99 daily special meal (everyday) rice was alright. Similar to uncle Bens rice but all was good.
Worse customer service ever. The man at the counter was very rude and the food was lackluster . Will not be returning. I recommend you spend your $ elsewhere.
Needs better seating and the decor is full.table service would be helpful.Owners to grumpy.
Delicious food and wonderful people. The plantains are always on point
$5 special fried rice & fried chicken best in euroope.. should stop being to stingy about their hot sauce tho.. lots of old ismaelis drunkies to be found
Great home made paans!!
Delicious, friendly service, and affordable.
Delicious, affordable, and friendly service! We got the spinach roti and the jerk chicken - both were delicious and the portions were huge! They brought our food to the table and you have to try their hot sauce - so good! Will definitely be back!
tasty foods
I was craving some chicken and this place was right where I was and I thought I would give them a shot. I ordered Jerk chicken without any sides of any kind. This version of Jerk was not like the Jamaican Jerk that I am used to from many other places I have tried. This was a soy sauce based version that I found lacked depth since I could only taste salt as the main spice with a hint of Jerk seasoning. But I will say I got a massive portion for 10 bucks... I just wish it would have tasted better. You are better off to try a non-Jerk Chicken Dish and go try one of c there other foods.
NEW MANAGEMENT.
Recently went to this place as I noticed its now halal. The jerk chicken was one of the best Ive had in Toronto and their fried rice was also delicious! Definitely coming back soon for some more!
Cheap and tasty food! Different variations of chicken legs and sides!
Delicious cheap carribean food. They have a decent $5 lunch deals and some pretty good curry dishes. The best thing they have are the pelouries for $3.
Hands down the best chicken roti in Toronto! Nobody else comes close!
