Specializing in Cantonese dishes, this casual, modern outfit also serves some Pan-Asian items.
A Cantonese quick service restaurant featuring rice, noodles & congee, busy vibe, consistent quality throughout the many restaurants in the GTA, extensive menu with new and innovative items, taste appeals to a large segment of the demographics, pipping hot congee with large selection of toppings, great selection of fried rice and noodles, efficient service with attentive staff.
This Congee Queen location was very disappointing and is probably their worst location. The restaurant was dirty, and the menus were very sticky. The servers were extremely rude and unfriendly. We also received the wrong fried rice order. Lastly, the food quality was below the typical Congee Queen standards.
Afternoon Tea Menu comes with a FREE drink. Congee Queen is considered Cantonese Chinese Cuisine. With 9 locations across the GTA, they are still one of my family favourite restaurants. One can dine in or do takeout. They have a weekday afternoon tea special promotion going on now between 3:00 to 5:00 PM. You can buy a meal combo that comes with a drink. Options are milk tea, lemon tea, coffee, bubble milk tea or red bean with ice cream. You can pay either cash, debit or credit card. This is part of a mall with direct access to the parking lot. It’s conveniently located at edge of North York and Thornhill and it’s part of the TTC bus route system. Finch Subway station is just South of here on Yonge Street. I like the fact, it’s a one stop shop. You can do groceries or shopping then eat at the restaurant afterwards or beforehand. It’s a busy place as they are surrounded by apartments and condos and homes.
This was my second visit to Congee Queen. The first time, I dined at the downtown location and found the food to be good value with quick service. This time, the service and speed were still great, but the taste didn’t quite measure up. The congee was not bad but the beef tenderloin recommended by the waitress was just average and a bit salty. The beef in the dry-fried beef ho fun was also a bit dry. Overall, if you’re looking for a quick meal, Congee Queen is a decent choice, but the food quality can be hit or miss.
Wonderful authentic Chinese southern cuisine! Beautiful setting and deco with baked chicken, duck and meat in display just like a restaurant in China. Good service even during busy dinner time and lots of people here on a weekday night speaks itself about its popularity😊 a must visit if you are in the area and great dining spot for families group of friends 👍👍
Food: 3 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Value: 3 Stars Overall: 3 Stars I visited Congee Queen for a casual dinner with my parents, hoping to enjoy some of my favourite dishes in a relaxed setting. Having ordered takeout from here several times before, I was curious to see how the dine-in experience compared. While my visit had its highlights, there were several areas where I felt the restaurant could make some improvements to enhance the overall experience. First and foremost, the condition of the booth seating caught my attention as soon as I was seated. Many of the booths showed significant wear and tear, with the upholstery visibly worn out in several spots. This gave the restaurant a somewhat neglected feel, which is a shame because the rest of the interior is fairly pleasant. A revamp of the seating would go a long way in improving the overall ambience and making the dining experience more comfortable and enjoyable. For a restaurant with a decent reputation, maintaining the physical aspects of the dining area is crucial, and this is an area where Congee Queen could certainly improve. When it comes to the food, it was largely as expected—decent and satisfying. The unagi fried rice is one of my personal favourites and didn’t disappoint. The dish was well-prepared, with a good balance of flavours, and the eel was tender and cooked just right. However, I couldn’t help but notice a stark difference in portion sizes between dining in and takeout. The dine-in portions were significantly larger, almost double what you receive when ordering takeout. This inconsistency was a bit surprising and might leave some customers feeling shortchanged if they’re used to ordering takeout. It’s something that the restaurant might want to address to ensure a more uniform experience, regardless of how the food is ordered. Service during my visit was just okay—nothing to write home about, but also nothing to complain about. The staff were polite and carried out their duties efficiently, but there was a noticeable lack of engagement. A little more warmth or attentiveness could have elevated the experience. I understand that the restaurant was busy, but even during peak times, a bit of personal touch can make a significant difference in how customers perceive their dining experience. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was alright, but again, nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant’s layout is practical, and the décor is pleasant enough, but with the worn seating and the fairly routine service, it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression. It’s a decent spot for a casual meal, but if you’re looking for a dining experience that stands out, there might be other options that provide a more polished environment and experience. In summary, Congee Queen offers decent food, particularly if you’re a fan of dishes like the unagi fried rice, but there are some aspects that could use attention. The condition of the booth seating is in dire need of a revamp, and the inconsistency in portion sizes between dine-in and takeout could be addressed to provide a more cohesive experience for all customers. Service is passable, but a little more engagement from the staff could improve the overall dining experience. While I wouldn’t hesitate to return for the food, especially the unagi fried rice, I hope the restaurant takes steps to address these issues to elevate the overall experience. kellychan360
I ordered the empress fried rice, Chinese broccoli, and beef brisket with beef tendon for take out. The pick up was nice and quick and service was nice. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot. The food tasted great and they give you a lot, I was able to spread it into 4 meals. The empress fried rice had a lot of bbq eel but I found it was lacking crab in it. The total came out to be $47.
I've eaten here a couple of times before, but it wasn't ever that great. My most recent visit for "afternoon tea" was really bad. The service and servers were horrible - they had a bad attitude and were really rude, like they didn't want to talk and answer questions. The noodle dish (in the photo) was fine. The bubble tea came with the noodles, but there was no tapioca - they were some jelly things. We also got rice with chicken and roasted pork (didn't get a photo of it). It was REALLY salty. The other locations are better and I probably won't be back at this location, unless out of convenience.
The servers are very rude here. One had a problem with our baby stroller in the restaurant and none of the servers said thank you once even when I paid the bill with typical 15% tip and stepped out of the restaurant. Made me feel stupid for tipping. Youll get the attitude from them the entire time during your stay. The food quality has gone down hill sharply too. I has general tao chicken and it wasnt crispy nor sweet.
Quick service and loud atmosphere. So if you re with someone, you need to raise your voice abit as they won t be able to hear you if you re soft spoken. Other than that, I enjoyed the preserved duck egg congee with pork as well as the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. However what ruined it for me was the yeung chow fried rice without shrimp; just tasted like burnt rice.
The food is always really good but it can be really crowded at times and it takes pretty long to get your food.
The location is very convenient and parking is easy. Food production is getting worse. The braised pork belly with tofu was not fresh, and the soup base of the big wonton had a burnt smell. The squid is fried soft. The portion of fried beef river is really much smaller. You can really only buy its fast food, the dine-in food is too poor.
best of these kind of restaurant chains in GTA.
Wrost congee of ALL TIME. Food is terrible. Ive been to many different congee queen location this one takes the cake with terrible food and service. Do not waste your money at this congee queen location.
Rice was undercooked to where it was basically fresh out of the bag, General Tao had no flavour just tasted like breaded chicken. Would not recommend.
Very disappointed birthday dinner. They did not honor their free birthday dish in their app.
The food was amazing but the staff were just terrible. I requested for an assistance and a staff didn t have any patience at all and even scoffed at me which was unbelievable. Extremely unpleasant experience due to the staff.
I placed an order for takeout. When I went to pick it up the cashier was extremely rude and was upset that I was paying with a credit card.
Excellent Chinese food. Served fast and delicious. Helpful staff. Clean washrooms. My favourite restaurant in the area.
Recently, our whole family went to Congee Queen restaurant to have dinner. We had a really bad experience with this restaurant. First and foremost, eating in a clean environment is vital to me and customers. This restaurant has flies buzzing around as soon as we seated and the dining area is slippery like there is a layer of grease all over the floor. We were struggling if I wanted to sit here any longer. Secondly, if you are running a restaurant, make sure you are aware of all the customer service issue. The food order was taking longer than it should and they missed my order. When they realized that a mistake has occured, they should apologize but they did not. Thirdly, food poisoning due to Salmonella. My Dad was having severe diarrhea illness with stomach cramps, high fever and vomitting after several hours eating in this restaurant. He went to ER the next day. He undergone lots of diagnosis. The ER told us that he was infected with Salmonella by consuming food that has been contaminating by human feces. Most likely the restaurant employees did not clean their hands thoroughly after washroom. I was very disappointed with this restaurant. For those whod want to try this restaurant, please avoid. This restaurant isnt worth a star at all.
Great selection of authentic and fusion dishes. Great value for what you are served. The atmosphere is very family-oriented and the place is quiet. Again, great food. Food : 5/5 |
We had the congee and fried dough sticks. The congee was quite good and the fried dough sticks werent necessarily cooked freshly but were warm. Food is served quickly.
Food and atmosphere were superb. However, staff couldn t even break a smile. Rude service through out the whole dining experience.
Location is very busy on Sunday. Both items that we wanted order, they didn t have. Bathrooms are dirty. They gave us a broken plate, take it away after a while and didn t give us a new one. They also serve us the wrong dish at one point and we had to tell them it s not ours. Service is not great. The congee was good though.
Good place to enjoy good food with friends and family
Very very disappointing service. As a uber driver, i go in to the store to get the order. This very rude woman named Shermy then asks me to confirm that i have picked up the order before giving me the order in which i did. This process isn t a new thing and a lot of restaurants do but then she proceeds to take the food away from pulling it very forcefully off my hands claiming that someone else already got the order. I had shown them my screen as well everything was confirmed but shermy decided to be the bigger man and decide on my behalf. The management team, if you are reading this please punish them accordingly as i will never come into this store again. This experience has put a very sour taste in my mouth and i will not be recommending this store or location to ANYONE. Stay away from here if you want to keep your sanity.
Ordered lemon chicken and rice. Didnt come with lemon sauce main part of the meal. Real clown activity. No one checks the orders before they are sent out? And no i do not have time to go to the restaurant to get it. Time and money wasted
Fòod are good as always. I recommend this location compared to other locations they taste better. Food
This is our go-to place when we want good food and dont want to cook.
Ordered lunch which included a minced rice roll. It tasted sour, called the waiter Shirley to bring it to her attention. She said there is nothing wrong with it as they sold plenty, and took it offer my bill. I threw up several times, and constant stomach pains. Not returning.... I should have looked at the condition warning on the Dine Safe sign before entering.
Big meal with good price
The order experience brought by the new app was terrible. A $20 was given after downloading the new app. As we could not find the icon for order on the app, we asked the receptionist and then she directed us to the cashier. The cashier told us that we needed to order via the app if we wanted to use the coupon. When we asked her which icon on the app was for order, she just asked us to go away from the cashier counter and do it via the app. Another male senior staff/manager said that we were blocking the corridor. The staff there were rude and were not helpful at all. We had a feeling that we were not welcomed as we were using the coupon. Finally, we found that it was required to complete the profile and select Store for order. The app is not user-friendly. It took us some time to figure out how to order when using it first time. We came here several times previously because the food was good and value of money. However, we are hesitant to come back after this unpleasant experience.
claypot rice without crunchy crust shouldn t be called claypot rice
I had the worst experience at Congee Queen due to very rude and miserable waitstaff. It was so hard to even get their attention to order food. When food started coming out, I politely asked for plates, and an older lady didnt make eye contact, and didnt even acknowledge my request, instead she walked over to the counter to grab plates so obviously she heard me. I dont know why she was so angry and was acting as if I had made an unbelievable request. I am simply asking for plates at a restaurant... why is this so crazy? Then she started yelling at another waiter much younger than her and left the plates there and stormed off. The other waiter ended up bringing the plates. Nobody came to check on us not even once, or ask about the food. We had to make several attempts again to get one of the waiters attention for water. The waitstaff try their best not to make eye contact and walk really fast past you so they dont have to bother with their customers, but if someone flags them down, they get super annoyed. I was so disappointed and actually felt a little insulted that weve decided not to tip. Im a very generous tipper, but they definitely did not earn it, instead made me feel like I was a nuisance. When the waiter saw that we didnt leave any tip, he became upset and asked us, You dont want to tip? When we said no, he didnt ask about our dining experience, he didnt bother asking us why we were unhappy with the service/food, instead he started aggressively cleaning up the table, and throwing plates around the table. WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION.
Great food, large quantities, fabulous selection. Very busy, strongly suggest you make a RSVP if youre going for dinner.
Parking: Lot of spots depending on hour of the day. Food
We ordered UberEat and one item is missing. When we order that item again, the food is cold already. I truely believe that Congee Queen knew that they missed the item and just give us the missing item in the first order. Thats why the food is cold. Really disappointed on it. Food : 1/5
The food was fine & came 10-15 mins within the order time. Apart from that everything was horrible. My family & I have been going here for years & this is the first time I ve EVER been ganged up on by all the waiters to be told to tip while they surrounded us to watch us. Their service was horrible so I paid the exact amount bcuz who would tip for bad service? The servers need to be taught that tipping is all up to the customer. Firstly, They were rushing to get our orders & secondly it was hard to get their attention even though the restaurant wasn t busy. Fix your customer service & tell your waiters to straighten up. So disappointing
Food was decent but not as tasty as other location. Bbq was a bit dry.
Very BAD experience! The food was OK. However, the server forced us to give a tip even though there is a choice of no tip.
I will keep this short and sweet. They are simply the best Asian restaurant in a very long time. The fried squid and eel fried rice have become a staple when my family comes here. A must try for anyone who loves Chinese food. You wont regret it.
Its rare to see restaurants specializing in congee outside of Asia. Without a doubt, one of the better congee Ive had in North America. Besides congee they have other dishes, which unfortunately, we didnt order because, the special congee only comes in large order. We were stuffed by then. Just the congee itself, I would give 5 stars, the fact that I havent had a chance to try the other dishes, I figured 4 stars for now. Hopefully, Ill get opportunities to order the other dishes on my next trip to Toronto.
Congee Queens seafood dishes are a standout, offering a delightful mix of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The congee itself is creamy and flavorful, perfectly complementing the generous portions of seafood. Service is attentive, making every meal a satisfying experience. Thanks to the management.
I ordered 3 dishes and 2 drinks. I waited 15 min they bring 1 food. After 30 min I try to ask staff but they all tell me they will check and they re did not comeback. After 40 min they bring 2 drinks but both of them are so bitter and the bubble tea is too sweet. They just make it and its not the same I drank last time. After that, they tell me another food needed to wait extra 15 minutes. I cannot believe that a big restaurant like Congee Queen is so TERRIBLE at serving and making the food. I know that time is busy but they have to let the customer know before they order. We waiting 1 hour for the food. I always eat downtown but its so nice and not like this. Congee Queen needs to TRAIN staff and add more chefs to improve the services and food.
I ordered the eel fried rice, pan fried turnip cakes, and sweet and sour pork. The fried rice had no wok hay, and the sweet and sour pork had zero crunch and had very few pieces. It was mainly onions and large pieces of canned pineapple. The turnip cake was good. Overall, the food was acceptable, but the quality is much lower than other locations.
Great taste and selection.
That was the most disgusting Chinese food I ve ever eaten the pork fried rice was all fatty pork and it was disgusting. I had to throw it out. The barbecued spareribs had an odd taste like they were bad and they were disgusting. I had to throw them out. The hot sour soup was with green pepper. I ve never had hot sour soup with green pepper, and the pork in it was fat mixed with meat and very little tofu and very little if any black mushroom was awful. The spring rolls were good, but there was nothing inside. It was all crispy. Nothing very little stuff inside. I don t even know what was inside because it was so little. I would not have eaten it if it was free and it was too expensive for The low quality of food that you get. Needless to say, I would never ever eat at congee Queen again. Even if they gave me a credit for the hundred dollars I spent I would give it away. so disappointed
I ordered takeout online and put the pickup time later than I actually wanted so I called right after placing the order to change pickup time. When I arrived(approx. 20 min after the agreed pickup time) I was told the food was not ready. I thought ok I can wait 5-10 min, the restaurant was not busy at all when I entered and the cashier lady was just chatting with all kitchen staffs and some random guy at the counter. But after waiting more than 10 min I came up to ask how long I have to wait still, that s when the cashier lady looked up my order and seems like she s clicking on the machine to send my order to kitchen, and few seconds after kitchen staffs stopped chatting and started to work. At the same time the lady said it s because one of my dish takes some time because it needs frying. Ok I don t know what kind of frying needs more than 30 minutes. I then waited another 20 minute to get my order. The staff did not apologize or anything for keeping ppl wait more than 30 minutes past pickup time for an order and they were just lying casually to the customer and cover up their own mistakes.
Sad that this location is very understaffed compared to other locations. Majority of my visits here, only half the restaurant is available for seating. Yet still they are understaffed. They messed up orders so frequently that they dont even apologize anymore they just take it back and give it to the next table. 90% of my pick up orders are non-existant in their order queue. Im unsure if this was the app, so lately Ive been calling in. And they somehow still dont have my orders ready for pick up! Will stop placing my lunch orders with them from now on! So disappointing. I hope the owners read this and train what little staff you hire to be more productive. Or just hire more staff so your current staff can be happy.
The food was okay and the service was fine. We usually eat here but this time while i was using the vinegar i saw something floating from inside, it was a fly. I asked the server why there was a fly and she didn t even say anything. She just replaced it and turned her back on me. How sure are we that there s no other flies on the other container? I guess i ll never now because they didn t bother to explain.
Reasonable qualify and price.
Can not complain about anything. Everything average
No wonder why the service is here is garbage. Its starts with the manager, where the hell you see a restaurant that have a rude manager? lol. Everybody here needs to have a proper sevice training. So bad service
Our usual spot for Asian cuisine. They have the best chow mein and fried rice. Love their fried oysters and squid tentacles. Snow pea leave with king mushrooms if youre into vegetables.
The best place for family eat out
Just ordered on ubereats but didnt get the soup for the vermicelli I ordered, very disappointed.
We ordered beef stirfry and chinese broccoli for takeout and when we came home, it was just chinese broccoli. no beef. its not our first time having issues with this menu at this location. last time they put 3-4 pieces of beef on top of veggies. when we asked why there is so little beef they said that was the right portion. what a joke. we could not have proper lunch and we had to come back to the restaurant for a refund. bad service bad price bad experience
1 hour for 3 simple dishes We arrived @ 808P, seated promptly since it wasnt busy at this time, aside from 6 family groups each ranging from 3-4ppl and 1 party of 9ppl. We ordered the shrimp wonton(8) soup, House seafood fried vermicelli (E4)and stuff eggplant (K60) appetizer. Unfortunately, our request to have everything brought out same time was not fulfilled..if anything, we ended up waiting 10mins at least for each dish. First to arrive was the stuffed eggplant -compared to many other great Toronto Chinese eateries, tasted bland and lacked the shrimp & scallop filling that Ive been accustomed to. It was four(4) large cuts of eggplant filled with what seemed mostly a cornstarch-rice flour filling that had no seasoning. It was a 14mins wait before we received the shrimp wonton soup which we had hoped to start our meal with. It was tasty and good amount of wontons in the soup (8pcs). However, there was hardly any broth after dishing out a bowl for each Hubby & I. So add another 10mins to wait for more requested broth. In the meantime, the fried seafood vermicelli arrive. This was a nice generous portion filled with scrambled eggs, bay scallops, baby shrimp, not much else. It wasnt bad, wasnt Great tho. It lacked a bit more seasoning flavour & any other vegetables IE slivers of peppers celery, snow peas/beans & carrots. It took another ~15mins to get the attention of staff, for our bill and takeout containers. Unfortunately, when our server (Gina) decided to be helpful by packing up our leftover wonton soup, she inadvertently spilled most of the remaining broth on the table -which she didnt even notice until we pointed it out..it created a bit of frustration having to ask for some more broth to be added. They were originally going to charge us but I argued the server spilled it and the original serving was already lacking a sufficient quantity that should accommodate 8 wontons. Fortunately, no upcharge. When we stopped the manager on duty (Kim? ) to express our disappointment in food timing and the soup-broth situation, he apologized and offered a 5% discount off our total bill. We thought, ok Great to see some amend efforts being made. However, when I checked my bill, the discount was not applied and told by the same manager it only applied if we paid cash. Otherwise, we can forego on tipping our server So technically, the compensation for the issues we encountered during our meal service is only applicable if we paid cash Hhhhhmmmm Ill leave that right there for Yall to decide if this establishment really cares about their customer satisfaction and whether they have returning customers #disappointed #justanothernumber
Great food. Service is kind slow and Chinese. Recommend to try the food, service needs work. Food : 5/5
Congee is
Diarrhea after having their food! Their restaurant should be closed immediately!!!!!!! Whole family is suffering! They gave us the fried rice within minute of ordering! The free drinks were there within 30 seconds ! I went there 10 plus times , but day b4 yesterday was the worst food , service ever! I wish I could give - star !!!
Manager ignored me when I asked for a extra plate and never came back And food is too overpriced
THE SERVERS OF THIS PLACE NEED CUSTOMER RELATIONS TRAINING!!! We went there yesterday to have lunch. We were seated close to the kitchen which for me, is not a pleasurable spot. I looked for the server and asked if we could be transferred to a better spot. The server ( female, wearing a mask-- Im describing her for identification purposes) told us, with her mean face and voice, you cant move from there! and walked away. I asked her why shes in bad mood, but just continued to walk away. I canceled my orders and as I was walking out, I saw her and said, I canceled my orders because youre mean! This is not the first time weve encountered rude servers. You have to be prepared for this kind of encounters if you plan to go!
Great staffs, food never disappoints.
Busy place..quality are ok
RUDE SERVICE We came to this restaurant around 8:30 and left at 9:55 with 9 people. The food was okay, but the staff isn t friendly. They added 15% tip which is very reasonable for 9 person but they never check on the table. When i left, i asked one of the waiters for the bag. This dude jumped and kicked both chair in front of me and his staff. He and his staff never say anything back to after that. I never write down any reviews before in google map but this is ridiculous.
Authentic food in a relaxed atmosphere. Free petting zoo for the kids ... see the pic of the friendly fruit fly that visited my table at the end of my meal. Maybe it will bless your meal too.
Nice restaurant the staff are friendly
Authentic congee flavour. Good veggie dishes on the extensive menu. Large servings good for sharing. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options on a broad menu. Youll find something youll enjoy. Parking: Several handi-spots up front and plenty of parking otherwise
Food was great as usual for this chain. Service was good and fast when friends and I went for a quick lunch
The porridge is a big bowl and delicious. The roast duck is amazing. I will introduce it to my friends next time.
The Cantonese Chow Mein is delicious and everything was clean...especially the bathrooms.
Very nice place. We went there Wednesday night. It was busy time and very noisy. The food was good. Atmosphere was good. Service was good.
My second daughter birthday. My family getting dinner. Food
Waited for 30 mins after being seated with Noone coming to take the order came at 1:30 and left at 2:10 after not receiving food asked for atleast tea or water twice and got nothing. I understand your busy but a glass of water. Patrons who came after us were getting served by we werent. Was it because we werent Asian I dont understand this level of poor service. Never coming to this location again. Sad because it so close
Ive been coming to this location regularly (almost twice a week) for the past 1.5 years. Almost always order rosted duck on rice and it was always great in quality and quantity. Until today! I dont know what happened, today I found a completely new crew that did not deliver a great service I am use the previous service crew and on top of that the duck was half portion of what it use to be and nothing but bones and no meat. When brought it up to the service I got arguments and denials instead of accommodating a regular customer with legitimate complaint. Needless to say, unfortunately, that was my last visit to this restaurant. My review is based on todays visit.
Hair in food
terrible terrible service got in 5 minutes before opening the server forced me out the door, very rudely and to come back at 11. I understand but dont treat your valued customers like this , very rude manners. no simple greeting no eye contacts. what a service!
The food is great. We ordered alot.
Good spot for dinner with large groups. Their food portions are huge and are good for sharing. Their chili oil is also one of the best I have had.
Our go to place. Fresh and crispy Cantonese Chow mein
Close to home. Service was very professional and efficient. Quality is amazing. I only wish they had a rewards discount.
A very good selection of dishes even the plain rice with shredded chicken was tasty. A little pricy for most things but a good quantity of food Food
Never been there.
bad service!
The food was good and great service! Gina was very helpful and efficient. Thank you
One star is for the male manager who is short and rude . If google allows 0 star , I will definitely give 0 star for him .
Delicious food but portions of meat went down. For example you get now way more noodles and less beef on the plate.
The flavours are bomb
they have excellent food and place..the worst is there crew but not all.. when they ask for your order some of them like they dont like you being there and they asking for a tip with anger attitude but they dont even ask you if you want water after you eat.
oily plate, not clean
Excellent.
Great service and the congee is naturally flavored. I highly recommend this place for quality congee. There are many other places where they would use msg to make them tasty and at the end you will have a dry mouth and side effects. But I can reassure you that this place does not give such experience. Excellent
The lemon coke was charged $5. It was literally only pieces of lemons and a coke. A can of coke is sold at price of $0.99 at grocery store. This is a bad price I think
Update: the food was better this time. Not salty and pretty good taste. We ordered a lubster and another dish. The lubster was too salty. Another dish was too oily. Food : 4/5
Service, food and atmosphere was good. We asked for our turnip patties dish to be extra crispy and they were wonderful.
Clean restaurant and very friendly staff
Very friendly helpful staff
Two young waiters had a very good service attitude (one seems to be called Gina, and the other one s name is unknown) but an older waiter had a very bad service attitude. The double egg porridge is delicious, but after drinking less than half of the bowl, three bites of duck egg shells appeared, which made me lose my appetite afterwards. The roast duck is good, the rice noodles with preserved egg fish slices are fishy and not human-like.
This location skimps on ingredients and gives smaller portions than other CQ locations. Do yourself a favour and go to another location if possible.
This place has changed a lot since I last visited. You can tell with the fact that most customers are non Chinese. Food was ok.
Great food with great price. The best Chinese restaurant in Toronto. I love their fried rice!
Give them a try .went with a group of coworkers and I must say it was my first time I really enjoyed the food
Excellent delucious cuisine with reasonable prices. Especially if you are in a hurry, your order is done fast.
Please note they charged for take out order $1/each Plus if you haven t told them in the beginning of order which is the Lunch order, they will charge you the regular item price without any excuse.
Always have an amazing experience here
Spacious Restaurant, friendly staff and lots of parking. Fish congee - can t really go wrong with congee. Green beans with pork - flavourful Salt and pepper squid - lightly battered Double boiled chicken - I think soft and the ginger sauce was made perfectly. General tai chicken - more on the sweet and sour side Seafood & mixed vegetables fried Taiwanese vermicelli - noodles are light and thinner than vermicelli. The hot sauces are in the saltier side.
The chilli oil is BOMB!
Quick service, nice staff and good food
We loved the food. The place is good. The only experience I dont like is how they ask for a higher tip. I customised the amount for 10% but the server changed to 15% which I feel is not worth it since they just drop and go my order on the table.
They have Rude staff to delivery drivers, and it took too long for the order, i was waiting in for almost 30 mins whenever i asked her she kept telling me that its not ready without even checking!
This place has become my go-to for delicious meals! I frequently indulge in their congee, fried rice, and udon noodles, and they never disappoint. The BBQ duck is another standout dish its truly fantastic. Coupled with great prices and speedy, friendly service, its an absolute recommendation for anyone looking to try an excellent congee restaurant.
Fantastic Chinese food. Good value for what you can get especially in a big group
We enjoy Salmon Congee, so this is one of our favorite restaurant. The staff are efficient and friendly. This branch, in particularly, gives 10% discount for cash payment, which is helpful in these tough times.
Congee queen has always been our favorite resto and they have never disappointed us until today . As days go by the quality of food depreciates. Our order was supposed to be mushroom and beef but it turned out to be onion, mushroom and ginger.
I visited Congee in person. It was very spacious and the staff went to each table to serve and were quick to help. The food I ordered came out without a long wait. Of course, you should eat it here instead of having it delivered. When I ate at the restaurant, the food was freshly cooked, warm, and tasted much better. The taste is different from the one delivered through Uber Eats. I will go there again to eat. The parking lot is very spacious. Since I was satisfied, I have been raising the rating from 3 to 5 stars. ===================== I ordered it through Uber Eats and ate it. People around me ordered it, but it didnt suit my taste. I ordered minced vegetable fried rice, dumpling noodle in soup, and two assorted bbq combo, and the bbq was good. The noodles felt undercooked and the soup broth was too salty. Maybe it was less tasty because it was delivered? Ill try it myself next time
Went out for dinner with my family, liked rice rolls and Xingzhou fried carrot cake The golden sand custard is also delicious
Its mediocre for the price
This is a cool concept for a restaurant, as basically everything you order can be shared. The food was quite tasty and we shared 2 different kinds of soups. The portions are quite large so do not over order! Food : 4/5
Our family eats at this restaurant two to three times a month, so we can improve the food. I like the seafood porridge, stir-fried beef river, salted fish and chicken rice, roast duck, pork belly tofu stew, Xingzhou carrot cake, dried Terminalia fish and green beans, etc.
Ive read and heard many negative things about CQ, so I decided to check it out for myself. Surprisingly, I enjoyed a variety of dishes, none exquisite but certainly tasty, hot and fresh. Will definitely return to try some different dishes as they have a huge selection.
Rude servers. Food only average. Cafeteria atmosphere, noisy. Demanded 20% tip or won t take payment. Rude.
The visiting environment was average, and the food tasted OK at the time, but my mouth felt bitter after eating. But the waiters really always pretend to be deaf and dumb at any time, no matter how many customers there are or how few people are busy. Even if they walk past you and you call them, they ignore you. You need to call them several times. In the past, they were always in the flow of customers. Gao Feng, with a mentality of understanding their hard work, was considerate of them. When we arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 noon this time, there were only a few diners. You gave them a gesture politely, but they still pretended not to see you! I won t go there in the future, and I won t recommend it to my friends.
Been coming here since I was about 5 years old, this congee is very consistent when it comes to their dishes always tasting good!
Service took a long time here we were waiting to order. We were waiting to get our bill. We re waiting for everything here. This is not a restaurant to come.
Today, on the evening of November 25, 2023, I ordered two sets of double rice and two sets of porridge for delivery from the store. When my family and I ate, we found that the side dishes were smelly and sour. We called the store to report it, but the clerk who answered the phone refused to admit that the food was smelly and sour. We will never buy it again! Strongly complaining about someone who calls Iris,so rude, the rudest cashier I have never seen in my life,She asked me why come to the front desk to make the payment instead of waiting for others,so rude,if you dont want to do your job to help customer to do the payment you can quit your job!!!!!!
Ordered a chicken. It was salty, almost like preserved meat. Maybe it needed the preservation because it was also not very fresh. The food here used to be good, but its gone downhill. Other Congee Queen locations still seem good though.
Good food but for Congee Queen standards a little inconsistent. Generally, there is no problem, but we have encountered the odd occasion where certain food is over or underseasoned. Servers are very fluent in english due to the fact that there is a lot of Filipino customers at this location and generally quite friendly. However, for some reason, I feel that this location feels quite cramped and often extremely noisy. So if this doesnt bother you, then its not a problem. However, its not the most ideal for me. And I much prefer to get takeout from here
Great place to eat. The congee is top notch. Fast and efficient service.
The serving and seating was very quick, and atmosphere was amazing. Not to mention how big the portions were, even after all of us were stuffed to the brim, there was still some good left to take home. It was a really good price too! Our server Vicky was the just sweetest person, she constantly checked up on us and shared some really good recommendations. All in all this was a 5 star experience! :D
Today, I ordered two orders of veggie congee from Ubereats at the evening. But, the delivery gave me the only one item. So I asked him about it, he said the waitress gave just one. And I on the phoned the restaurant and asked what happened with my order, but the waitress only said that just make claim to Ubereats, there was no apologize. Pay two times money and have only one food, and the attitude of restaurant clerk is also very unpleasant and rude. she did a mistake, but never said sorry. and she just hang up the phone. And the congee taste was terrible. The fact that I cant give zero points to the service is deeply deplorable.
Excellent Chinese cuisine. I enjoyed their Cantonese chow mein and salted fish and chicken fried rice. Honourable mention is their interior decor.
My friend and I ordered the wonton lo mein and it was not good. It was bland and the sauce that came with it on the side was way too salty. It didn t help elevate flavours, it just made it worse. There was no balance within the flavours of the meal, really there was no flavour. And this goes for the wontons and the noodles that were served. The wonton filling (which I believe is shrimp) was also bland and dry. The noodles were also very dry.
Good quality of food for the price.
Very rude people. They ignore you if you don t speak Cantonese. Food is just average but over priced.
