Gave me and my sister food poisoning, dont go here.

First, I recommend the other location at Yonge and Steels because of the service and food quality. The service was slow and lower than average response, less than what you often expect at an Asian restaurant. The service at Yonge and Steels is much better. We ordered sliced fish congee B7, and E3. Both had lower quality than the other location. I came for the food, not the service, but both disappointed. So, if you want a good Congee Quren experience, I suggest the Yonge and Steel location. This was my first time with my family in Congee, first i asked for recommendations from the waiter and he began saying I dont know your taste, how would I help you order . not to mention when the bill came and I tipped accordingly to the service, the waiter ACTUALLY ASKED ME me why I didnt tip more.

Always a high standard cooking-up for their customers.. years maintaining this says a lot as to why I brag to people about this Gem eating spot!

Usually order takeout from here when we feel lazy. Big fan of their BBQ duck round vermicelli, but their BBQ pork/chasiu and crispy roast pork are fantastic too.

Food is always good in my opinion service, these guys work hard given that its always packed and usually a waiting line of about a minimum of a good 10 minutes or so and on the Ambiance, its a meh rating according to the youngins ... sorry no pics included remember what I said the food was good didnt last long Parking: The immediate parking lot fills up quickly because of all the stores within are quite popular may end up having to park across the way by the LCBO Kid-friendliness: Theyre accepting of children

My mom asked to be seated at the very beginning, but they gave her takeout orders. So the three 70-y-o ladies had to eat out straight from the containers!!! And before they can finish, the staff there was trying to clean the table!!! Minimum service and so rude to the elderly!!!

The congee selection is good.

The rude lady with dyed short hair is really inconsiderable. She was making me and my family members to finish up fast by picking up empty dishes and putting the leftovers into containers without my permission. We informed her that we are not done yet. But then she kept coming back in few minutes later to do the same thing. We felt rushed and stressed to finish fast by making payments, and all that. When we got up and about to leave, she started to pour hot tea on table front of us to clean . I understand the table needs to be free for next customers but seriously that s not way to treat us like trash. Won t coming back there.

Great location off the Shops at Don Mills. Service is fast and this is a great place to get a quick meal with parking at the door.

Got dinner here 31 October around 9 pm . Servers were not polite . Very rude . Asked for water they said I don t have time . After a bit we needed to take a picture of us and asked one of the employees there if they can take a quick picture and he declined . All of them were rude . Then in the end when I paid the bill I didn t feel like the I didn t get the service as expected I didn t leave a tip . The person Travis kept insisting that I should leave at least 20% tips . I asked if it s mandatory. He said no it s not mandatory but I have to leave him a 20%tip . When I declined he kept saying something to his coworkers pointing at us . What is this ?? Relaxed eatery if you come after the lunch rush. Their happy hour is from 3 to 5 pm. You get a lemon tea, basic bubble tea, red bean & Ice cream shake in addition. Food is functional. The brisket and tendon had this rank after taste / smell. Needs to be cleaned more. Stick with the beef brisket only. Wonton noodles was acceptable. Soup needs to be more pure. Rinse the wontons a bit more. Bitter melon and beef. Bland. Lukewarm. Not sure where the wok fire power went Relaxed environment. Serving staff are kind and efficient

Soo this happened We paid cash, and the waiter who took our payment(not the waiter who served us) openly complained about the size of the tip, and said it was the Canadian way to tip bigger.

I agree with most of the comment about the tip. It happens to me, event I gave $10 tip. I don t understand why those customer services are so greedy for the tip. Sometime they do this job because of the tip, not because of the work they do to serve to customers. I feel so disappointed as well.

Been coming to this spot for years. Waiter Kenneth decided to challenge me on my preferences of food choice asked for no peppers due to allergies but he was not accommodating saying there will be nothing in the noodles then. I just wanted noodles and protein

Is that really necessary.?.) I WILL NEVER return! the food quality has definitely gone down. I ordered the lunch promo Singapore noodles - the noodles and ingredients were not fresh. Noodles were broken and pork overfried. Seems a day old. Please don t shortchange your customers- we can usually tell if the dish is fresh or reheated.

Quite disappointing. CQ Lawrence is no longer good as it used to be. I started as a patron there since its opening. It was great, probably the best among all CQs in GTA. Used to be our go-to place as we are only 10 minutes away. Things started going downhill even b4 covid19. Business was probably great (and too easy!) during covid thanks to takeout/delivery. I was there for dinner with friends from US last night. Two of us suffered from diarrhea shortly after dinner from either spoiled food or oil overdosed food. Speaking of the complimentary dessert I used to always get even without asking, the waitress said last night only VIP cardholders get the free dessert. Wondering if the restaurant is under different management now!?

One of my favourite places for fried rice and noods of all kinds! Love the variety of vegetarian options as well, not uncommon in Chinese restaurants, however there are a few creative ones to choose from, and not just your average seasonal stir-fried veggie dishes. The staff are also amazing at this location. Super friendly and always willing to help. I live downtown and always look forward to the drive here because I always know Ill be getting quality food and service!

Good food but forcing someone to pay more tip is unacceptable.

Disappointed with takeout portion size. Ive eaten here many times and the food is always great and filling. This time I ordered the same large seafood congee for takeout but the portions were less then half of what they serve in-house for the same price. I complained and was told that this is the large for take-out. I wont order take-out from this location again

Very busy but good is good

Honestly couldn t understand the server and when asking for clarification he seemed annoyed so then when ordering he charged us a plate of rice no one asked for, asked him for water and never got refills or nothing and then ever to get the bill was a hassle and our tables combo was so good that 30 mins had passed by without any sign of our server so we asked another server there and he said that our original server had gone on break. We were never notified and so honestly we we get the bill and realize the extra charge for this rice was high and we ate it because we re like okay it s there and maybe he heard wrong and then we were left. I would ve liked to order a drink and so then the server cashing us out knowing that we were properly taken care of I tipped like I was served. He came and tried to make an issue and perused at least 10% min. I explained we were left the whole time. What tip did he find fair ? These places need to fix up. ITS NOT MANDATORY TO TIP. but I felt whatever he gave us water lol The machine at 12% tip was $9.61 He didn t deserve the $5.00 tip that I left him. I never saw him after he took my order all annoyed and after he gave us water. Then disappeared and we were there for 1hr and 25 mins.

The Crispy Shrimp Wontons are superb. The Shrimp with Walnuts divine. Moreover, the pricing is unbeatable, offering exceptional value for money. However, the ambiance suffers slightly due to the loud chatter among the service staff. This detracts from an otherwise pleasant dining experience, and I would recommend that management address this with appropriate training on maintaining a quieter environment. Aside from this minor flaw, there s nothing but praise for this exemplary establishment.

I am updating my review. It was definitely better the first time I left it. I meant I really enjoy the food here. It s a little pricey so I don t go very often. I had a terrible experience tonight. I tried ordering from their new mobile app and it was a nightmare. I wasted about an hour trying to get this thing to work. I deleted it multiple times and re-registered and it had a bunch of bugs. I had already walked about 40, an evening walk, to get to the restaurant, but the to go person, and particularly the manager were completely unhelpful. I asked the manager multiple times to help me or offer some kind of assistance. And he just stared at me. I ve never asked a manager to help and they just stared and said nothing.

The shrimp tacos shrinked in size by more than half the original size and it barely has any shrimp. Extremely rude cashier. Also, the eat in portion is double the amount of take out quantity for the same price.

We (two early 20s girls) stopped by this Congee Queen at the North York location, we ended up with a $26 bill, gave $2.25 tips. A waiter took the bill and tips, then thought it was not enough. Later he came back and asked for more tips, saying that 10% should be around $3 something. First of all, 10% is NOT $3 sth, should be $2.6. Second of all, I doubt that a professional trained waiter would have the audacity to directly ask for more tips from a customer like that as if we didnt pay anything. Tips are voluntary, is not a must depending on their services and food quality. As you can see, their services were poor and very unprofessional based on the way that waiter ASK FOR MORE MONEY basically?!?!?! Never visiting this location anymore, and if yall wish to have better services and higher quality food, Id suggest going to the Markham location. Two girls had dinner at this north York branch tonight. We ended up eating about $26 and tipped $2.25. The clerk felt that the payment was underpaid and the amount was not enough. He rushed over and asked us how much more change we needed to pay. We had to make up 3 yuan. He also pointed out that he had to pay 10% of the total amount. Isn t that 10% equal to 2.6, which is not $3. We both feel that consumption is voluntary, so we shouldn t ask this question. We don t think we ll come back again. If we do, we d better go to the one in Markham. The service attitude is better and the food quality is better.

I recently dined at this restaurent and while the food was pleasant given they put lots of msg , I left feeling uncomfortable due to an incident regarding tipping. The staff were attentive but shows like they were overworked. However, I was surprised when a member of the staff made a comment about the tip not being generous enough. While I understand the importance of tipping although not compulsory and usually tip generously based on service, I found this interaction off-putting and somewhat unprofessional. Guests should not be made to feel guilty or pressured about tipping amounts. It detracted from an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. Overall, the food quality was good, again with the amount of msg they put into it . The atmosphere was somewhat welcoming, when we came first thing they mentioned was we were only allowed to eat for 1 hour. I hope that the management addresses this issue and not put the pressure to the customers as we pay for the right price of the food. The management should ensure that all staff should be compensated properly, given the fact that food business profits half from their capital and that their congee and soups are mostly water which saves them a lot.

Delicious authentic Chinese dishes. Very good Chinese restaurant with some adaptations to be gluten and lactose intolerant sensitive. Most Chinese food is safe for Lactose intolerant people, but any exception for gluten or lactose are marked in the menu. Great place to eat, 10/10 or 100% Vegetarian options: Chinese food, so lots of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Gluten and lactose sensitivity can be managed by knowledgeable staff who double check with kitchen for your order. Kitchen can then adjust recipe for any dietary issues. Parking: Roomy parking tucked behind the plaza, in front of restaurant entrance. Usually has parking available. Wheelchair accessibility: Floor is level with entrance and fully accessible with ramp between parking and level entrance!!

The taste is good, but the service is not good, perhaps because it is busy. I placed an order, but it didnt come out, so I asked, and I was sorry. It wasnt that the order didnt arrive. You guys didnt order, so it was absurd to ask if you would do it now. I gave it 3 stars not because it wasnt delicious, but because of the staffs attitude.

Thanks for nothing. Coworker picked up take out food that was ordered. Get it and find out the kitchen clearly cannot follow simple instructions like no onions in the food order of 3 dishes. Lunch time, limited time, means going without due to their lack of following basic instructions. AND they increased their prices again recently, for what, a poor job done?

Good reliable comfort Chinese food! Casual setting, quick and efficient service. Noodles, rice, mains, sides, congee, bbq meats... A little of everything to satisfy breakfast, lung or dinner. More convenient for midtown folks who dont want to have to go north or downtown.

Do not order take out. The food is disgusting! I order sweet and sour pork. The pork is hard and dry hardly any sauce. I ordered Cantonese chow mein the noodles are dry. This restaurant use to be good now the food is disgusting. Takeout they rip you off and give you uncooked food. Nasty.

It s been a few years since we came here last, but nothing has changed much aside from how you order. We came here for Chinese New Year and surprisingly the wait for a table for 8 wasn t too long. Currently, they have a QR Code and you order on your phone. The food is good. As someone who has many food allergies, they are good with listing ingredients on the menu and they don t add stuff not mentioned on the menu (like other Congee Queens) We will definitely come back in the future.

I arrived between lunch and dinner around 4 and had fabulous service from staff who greeted me at the door and said goodbye as I walked out. Chicken and duck congee was excellent as it soothed my stomache. Great place for groups or solo dining. Will be eating here again. This kind of service insults the word service. After the dishes were served, there was no follow-up whatsoever. We had to wait ages for napkins at the self-service tea station. Without leaving a tip, the waiter directly stood in front of me and threw the bill on the table, questioning why I didnt leave a tip. When I explained why, they became rude. The most outrageous part was when I was leaving, another waiter said, I helped him with the tip. Did I not pay for the meal? Who cares about a few bucks in tips? Why dont they have a little decency and not expect tips? Ive heard this place had bad service, but I didnt expect it to be this awful.

Yesterday I had cravings for some seafood, I have been there few times . I was alone and ordered Lobster, shrimps and Chinese broccoli the food arrived and I asked if I can have couple of slices of Lemon, Tom the waiter says: 3 slices are $1 I was shocked on principle I thought that was unexceptable and Tom had a laugh about it especially that my bill was $102 for 3 pm lunch for one person. Never disappointing, this restaurant chain is one of everybody s favorites in my family, they are so good in every aspect, from food to services, from atmosphere to location, always a joyful meal whenever we dined in, top notch Cantonese cuisine It never disappoints. This chain restaurant has always been a favorite of my family and I. From the food to the service to the environment to the local store, we always have a satisfying dining experience. It is undoubtedly the best local Cantonese food.

Quick and fast chinese food when Im missing home.

I often came to this location, but I won t anymore since today. I found a piece of a steel wool tangled in snow pea leaves in my mouth. It s not sanitary at all. I don t understand how steel wool got into the vegetable. It is so disappointing.

They accommodate our last minute catering and the food was good especially the fried rice and Cantonese chowmein.

My only regret is that we don t live near this location. Whenever we come into town, this is one of our pit stops. One HAS to be patient one of its quirks is that the servers can be harried. So, remain friendly & be assertive! Best fresh dish? Pan fried spicy tofu with peppers.

Amazing food and quick service. Consistency is key here - no matter which of the Congee Queen location you go to, food is always good. Portions are huge and prices are great $$. It will definitely fill you and leave you with leftovers to take home. I come here regularly, highly recommend the Super Bowl congee (seafood), fried noodles with beef and their famous chilli turnips. I m drooling just thinking about those turnips!! Service is usually good: they are quick, get you what you need then leave you alone to enjoy. Lots of parking available. Definitely recommend and will be back.

Great spots for good quality Cantonese dishes. Pretty much all dishes here hit the spot. Must get items is definitely the roast meats, any fried rice/noodles/rice noodles, any veggie & meat dishes. Service is always prompt and efficient. Staff will always try to accommodate your requests and answer any questions. Place is always busy, so for large party a reservation is highly recommended. Do douse your dishes with their flavorful chili oil, will add additional dimension to their dishes. Plus ordering a bowl or two of steam rice is highly recommended. Parking: Limited space due to the amount of other businesses in the plaza. Maybe difficult to find a spot.

Great food and reasonably priced (for the portion size) Ordered stir fry veggies , the fungus and 6 grain congee, and the fried turnips. Flavors are light but the freshness is great. Felt the stir fry was little overpriced but everything else else was fantastic.. don t forget to try their chilli oil.. it s unique and killer.

Honestly they are so inconsistent with their food. You can order the same item 10 times and you ll receive 10 different things. I didn t stop by this location in a while after a bad experience but I just happened to be in the area and I picked up my order as soon as it was ready. I got a specialty congee and instead of telling me it was not available, they simply decided to give me another one instead, without telling me. Their udons are so thick and doughy that it s very heavy to eat them and they can t point out allergens even upon request, not to mention that they are also impossibile to locate on their huge menu. Not sure why, but this place is a surprise every time and not a good one. Let me save you a bad experience. Do not EVER come to this location for dinner at 9pm when the restaurant closes at 10. You ll be treated like an animal. I happened to come here with a friend at 9pm, fully aware they close at 10 but also fully aware they are extremely fast with the orders, so we were not concerned. As we walked in, they were already cleaning the place and we were told they were about to close. No, you close at 10, so they could not refuse us. If you wanna close at 9, update your hours. We sat down and we were told multiple times to order fast and through the app, as that would have been faster. We were also told we had to pay by 9.30pm. By 9.30, my friend did not receive his food yet but he was asked to pay. He of course refused until he received the food. Not even 30 seconds later the same rude waitress came back to make us pay. They never brought us water, they forgot my friend s drink, cutlery was DIRTY and while we were eating already in a rush we were given the takeout boxes. While we were trying to pack our food to leave (this happened before 10pm) they were already cleaning our table while we were still sitting. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. You deserve zero tips for this service. The hours clearly say that this restaurant is open until 10pm. You want to refuse or treat paying customers like this from 9pm? Update your hours. They are extremely nice in the location downtown but here they don t deserve your tips at all, a whole other level of rudeness. Since all negative reviews are pointing out the rudeness of the staff, is the manager even interested in addressing this issue at all?
