On the pricier side but the Peking Duck was one of the best have had in Toronto! I do prefer thinner pancakes but the lettuce wraps were also very good!
It may be because I am a Laowai but I enjoyed my meal at this restaurant. And I have been to other Chinese restaurants in Markham. The colleagues I was with also enjoyed the tasty food which was accompanied great customer service. I will be going back!
This HK style restaurant just moved to Yorkmills mall from Bayview Mall couple month ago. This restaurant brings more customers to come to this mall and create more business for every shops. The food is about average, but the service is quite good.
I recently had the misfortune of dining at Pearl Bayview, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with nothing but rude and dismissive behavior from the owner. The hostess was pleasant enough, but the owner quickly swooped in, acting annoyed that we were even there. Throughout our meal, the owner repeatedly passed by our table, glaring at us as if we were an inconvenience. When we had a minor issue with one of our dishes and politely brought it to their attention, the owner's response was shockingly rude. Instead of an apology or any attempt to rectify the situation, we were met with a condescending lecture about how we were wrong and the dish was perfect as it was. The owner's attitude was not just unprofessional but downright hostile. They made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable, turning what should have been a pleasant dining experience into an unpleasant ordeal. It's clear that the owner has no concept of customer service and does not value their patrons at all. Overall, the atrocious behavior of the owner completely ruined our evening. If you're looking for a place where the owner treats you like a nuisance rather than a valued customer, then Pearl Bayview is the perfect choice. Otherwise, steer clear and take your business somewhere that actually appreciates it.
I came here for dinner on a Monday and it was less than half full. the ambience is nice as it gives off a slightly more upscale and modern vibe compared to typical Chinese restaurants. Here’s what we ordered: • fried udon beef and black pepper sauce this was super tasty. the beef was tender and the taste of the black pepper sauce was bold. • chicken fried rice this dish was disappointing. it was bland, dry, and not up to standard when it comes to fried rice. the pieces of chicken were tiny. however, something interesting about this dish is that there was a bit of a sweeter taste (almost as if they put some ketchup in the rice). • crispy beef in mild spicy sauce with sesame seed (not pictured) this was delicious and we really enjoyed it! the sauce on the batter was sweet and tasted really good with the beef and the way it was cooked. there was also a good amount of spice. our total for these 3 dishes came to over $100. overall I would most likely not recommend this place because of this price and the fact that there are plenty better options for Chinese food.
Went to the new location at the Bayview and York Mills Plaza opening night. I've been to the Harbourfront several times, and the Yorkville, and Oakville locations once or twice, and I have to say that the food quality in this location, in spite of it being opening night was outstanding. We had a bunch of dim sum dishes including the signature hockey pucks, shrimp rolls, soup dumplings, har gow, and chicken dumplings. for dishes we had sweet and sour chicken, bbq pork chow mein, snow pea leaves, and the best peking duck I've had so far in the city. (I know there are many amazing ones in Markham and the GTA which I've never tried, but I can only speak to the one's I've had). All the dishes were hot, fresh, and delicious. The location is great with ample parking, it's very easy to to access. Very kid friendly as well, I went with my family including ome young nieces and nephews, my nephew said it was "the best meal he's ever had". A great edition to the neighbourhood and will definitley be back for some weekend dim sum brunch.
Recently dined at a delightful Chinese restaurant and indulged in a variety of delectable dishes. The salty egg, a classic appetizer, was a perfect balance of saltiness and richness. The bitter melon stir-fry showcased the vegetable's unique flavor, complemented by tender pieces of succulent pork in the sweet and tangy sweet and sour sauce. The zesty lime-infused chicken, with its refreshing citrus notes, was a standout dish that left a lingering tang on the palate. The stir-fried beef with Chinese greens was a delightful combination of tender beef strips and crisp, vibrant vegetables, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. Lastly, the braised tofu in a rich, savory sauce was a satisfying vegetarian option, bursting with umami goodness. Each dish was meticulously prepared, showcasing the chef's attention to detail and skill. The flavors were well-balanced, allowing the natural ingredients to shine through. The service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience
Value is subjective, but you can't charge more and offer less portions and, most importantly, less flavour. The good staff and service is where I'll start because Dim Sum restaurants can be lacking, but I am happy to say that the service was excellent. This review will now head towards the negative as although the food was fine, it is not good enough for the price they charge or the slightly smaller portion sizes. You'll see in the pictures what I ordered and my bill. You be the judge, but even if you say it's reasonable, you'll find better taste at other Dim Sum restaurants.
The food is amazing, the service is exceptional, and the quality is top-notch.
The dining experience is what I expected and it matched their standards from their previous location. We ordered a number of dim sum dishes and they came out steadily and quickly. The flavours were familiar and on point.
Service was amazing and the food was amazing and delicious Parking: It is located at the mall so parking is available and free Wheelchair accessibility: There is enough room for the wheelchair to be close to the dining table
Spectacular meal. We were 6 adults, 2 kids and 2 toddlers a complicated group! However, they were extremely accomodating and efficient. The food was delicious! Food : 5/5
The food was very good and the service was exceptional, very polite staff.
Food was pricey. Har gow and other standard dishes are over $10. Small and not as tasty to their competitors in Richmond, markham and Scarborough. Service was adequate and nothing special. Peking duck special was okay. Not expecting Mott 32 quality at $80 but was mediocre at best.
Be serious
Like the food, and love the service and the reno , seating is very comfortable
For dinner, perhaps the kitchen can work on the food presentation.
Dim sum was very good. We also ordered fried udon and chow mein, also quite good. Peking duck was disappointing, and quite dry.
This chicken chow mein here is one of my favorite dishes of all time. I have it at least once a month.
Been coming to this franchise since I was a kid. These cuisine just seem to get better each time I visit. Ask for Jeffrey (gm) to order off menu. Nothing but the best.
We ordered traditional Cantonese Chow Mein and char siu cheung fun for lunch. The noodle dish is small and traditional style with plenty of gravy. The char siu cheung fun was above average with chewy and soft noodle and plenty of pork. Service was great and atmosphere is kinda of noisy for the price point. Kid-friendliness: Most if not all Chinese restaurants are kid friendly
July 28/24: My only complaints are the washrooms are a mess, they need to be checked on a regular basis & the wait staff have zero personality.
Relatively new location from Bayview Village Mall. Nicely decorated but more North American than Chinese. Food is like home cooking.Very tasty. Prices are very expensive!
Excellent service, Luxurious washrooms, Bilingual Chinese-speaking waiters.
Very nice environment and service, the complimentary red bean dessert was delightful too.
We liked the new location. Much more spacious and has a room for hosting a private function.
Food is good Environment is clean Recommend Food : 5/5
Pearl is a ridiculously expensive Chinese restaurant where youll find mediocre food. Expect to pay $50-$60 per person (without drinks) plus tip. If you get drinks, itll be significantly more. The restaurant also smells like a cattle farm. Im not sure why but its not a very appetizing smell for a restaurant. Overall, I definitely would NOT recommend Pearl to anyone.
Had dim sum there yesterday for lunch and the food quality was just so so. Service was very good but too bad their food served was not.
It s a pretty decent spot, service, food and atmosphere are all good, what I like is they can accommodate any group size in their restaurant
Food was delicious but atmosphere is not the greatest. The private room offered no privacy. You can t even hear yourself think
Honestly, the food is quite bad here. It is the worst we have seen in a long time and for the prices they charge I would stay away We ended up not finishing what we ordered
All my favourite dim sum from their main location is here too! Beautiful space and great service as always and a lot easier to park!
The reason for the two star is simple. The cost! It s crazy expensive for Asian cuisine! The food is good but just as good as any other Asian cuisine. If the price was put in line with other similar restaurants this would be a 4 star. Portions don t match the cost. Can t recommend. Food
Food was overpriced and portions were small. The lobster was quite small and very chewy. Service was ok, and the place was nice and clean.
Everything here is so expensive. It s not worth the price. For the same food, drive up to Finch & Leslie s Joyous restaurant. The food is much better and cost way less. For example, har gow is $11 for 3 pieces. The Joyous restaurant is $7.50 for 5 pieces.
Went on opening day for the new location, was my first time too. Staff are so friendly and the food is delicious! This restaurant is on the pricey side so keep that in mind, but overall was a wonderful dining experience.
Insanely expensive and questionable sanitation when you look beyond what is visible on the surface. A restaurant thats clearly trying to cater to rich Westerners and not the ordinary folk. Each dim sum dish is $10 a pop? Ridiculous. And they still have the gall to request tips on their payment machines. I do not recommend coming here unless you clearly want to be ripped off.
Excellent food and service. A must try!
Great Chinese Dim Sum
The food was fresh and of high quality, cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly even though we arrived at closing time. They let us in and we thoroughly enjoyed every dish we ordered. The atmosphere was elegant and eye pleasing. A very fine dining experience! I will definitely go back again!
Terrific. The difference between fast food and Chinese cuisine . Every thing was made with quality ingredients and there was no need for any additional sauces or condiments. A truly tasty feast ! Vegetarian options: Many to be had Wheelchair accessibility: No barriers
The restaurant offers a delightful atmosphere complemented by friendly service from the staff. The food is delicious and clearly made with care. Highly recommend for an enjoyable dining experience.
We have been before. Since they moved to new location on York Mills, the service has declined: tonight staff forgot to bring a dish we ordered and nobody acknowledged it. We would have sat all night waiting if we didnt call it to their attention. It was Sat night before Mothers Day: I hope that this was just a one off and service will improve in future. There food is very good
We visited the Pearl York mills location today after having has multiple pleasant experiences in their harbour front location. Upon arrival, the waitress asked if we had a reservation and we didn t. The staff on call immediately told her no reservation no seating, we re fully booked for the day . The way they said those words felt very rude and unwelcoming. We arrived around 1140 and there were many empty tables around us. (Yes understand they may all be booked) but the communication was one of the worst I ve had in recent restaurants experience. They did not bother to ask if we re interested in take out, to be added to wait list in case someone cancels or come back again in the future. We would never come back again for this poor experience. What a shame to the Pearl brand.
Love the new location!!! Came for dinner-consistent food & service!
New location moved from Bayview Village to Yorkmills plaza. Bright and clean and nice layout. Dishes are quite expensive at about $30-$38 dollars. I didn t try enough but I will be back.
Some of tastiest dim sum we ve ever had!! However cost prohibitive, makes it unaffordable to do this on a consistent basis!
We are longtime Pearl fans (have been going to the Harbourfront location for years) and were excited to try this new location since it s close to my parents - it definitely lived up to the reputation. Food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. It s some of the best / high-quality dim sum in the city, the staff are all super friendly and the room is beautiful with ample (free!) parking. Will definitely return to this location when I m in the area!
Went back to the Pearl (for the second time lol) a week after opening in Bayview and York mills plaza for dim sum brunch. Happy to report that everything was top notch once again! The order was hockey pucks, soup dumplings, crispy shrimp rolls, steamed pork buns, har gow, pan fried chicken dumplings, bbq pork Chang fun, and Cantonese chow mein. I ve been to all the Pearl locations now several times (it is my favourite Chinese / dim sum restaurant) and the quality at this location was excellent. I love the Pearl Parking: Tons of parking, conveniently located in a neighborhood plaza Kid-friendliness: Lots of young children enjoying the food around us. Very kid friendly
Great new location with attentive service and quality dishes.
Friends took us out here for our first dim sum in ages. Was so good, going back soon!
Had a phenomenal dinner last night with old friends at the Pearl Bayview. Our waiter Sam, provided fantastic service and was very attentive and recommended a smorgasbord of dishes. We had a mix of dim sum and traditional Chinese fare and everything we tried was 10/10. Our favorites were the hockey pucks (perfect level of crispiness), the Shanghai Dumplings and sweet and sour chicken. This is my new go-to spot for Chinese food and there is so much more on the menu we need to try. Parking: Excellent parking lot!
Best DimSum in Toronto!!!! Location is fantastic with plenty of parking. Excellent service and food! A great place to go if you re looking for a fun night with family and friends! Looking forward to going back soon!!! Highly recommend the signature hockey pucks and Peking duck!!!
I m here right now and feel total a rip off. They charge twice the amount for food that is clasless. Go to Yu Seafood if you are spending this kind of money on fine dining Chinese. This is not fine dining Chinese food. This is food court Chinese food. If you are from Markham, Scarborough or Richmond Hill like I am, this you will understand is utter garbage for the price. Don t make the same mistake like I did. I m referring to their new location at Bayview and York Mills.
Our food was very oily and we did not like all the noisy children seating next to us. Management should have spoken to the parents of these unruly children. Sorry but we won t be coming back.
Decoration is not great, there s too much light, the ambiance is just not there. The food is not great and the service doesn t speak English and are rude, when you ask a question, they look the other way and leave
Sea food is fresh and delicious
Very fresh ingredients and well presented food.
Not sure what happened but this place was our all time favourite and now the quality went way down!! We ordered the Appetizer platter which didn t even come with the garlic shrimp as advertised. Everything was the same in different wrapping with no taste. The crispy sesame beef was $30 and had zero flavour. I told our waiter and he said sorry but don t think he understood what we were saying. We won t be coming back after this experience. $110 for 3 items and not worth it at.
Quite liked the dim sum. Good food, staff looked a bit inexperienced, but I am sure that is temporary.
Cozy is the first word that comes to mind when walking into this in-mini-mall restaurant. The overall atmosphere is most welcomed and friendly by staff. The sizing of the place matches the seating arrangements - cozy. However, the menu is a bit pricey than expected, even for a shareable meal approach. The portions of these dishes are just below average of what I m use to from restaurants like congee queen. The prices should be adjusted accordingly. Unfortunately, 2/3 friends had upset stomachs later that night . As always, fortune cookies are nice parting gifts post meal. Vegetarian options: Veggie fried rice available
Not that good
This particular Pearl location isnt consistent in their dishes. Some of the items I order always have a different flavor and appearance. Their Harbourfront location is much better
Service and waiters were good but the food was terrible for the price. I ordered the beef soup and got 3 pieces of beef and 6 pieces of literal mushy fat as pictured. Not worth the prices at all
Unfortunately the food was barely edible, really weird textures
We have found our go-to dumpling spot in Bayview Village, and its none other than the Pearl restaurant. The spotless setting and attentive staff create a welcoming atmosphere, setting the stage for a delightful dining experience. What truly steals the show at Pearl is the outstanding quality of their dumplings. Bursting with flavour, each bite reflects the restaurants dedication to delivering a memorable dining experience. With reasonable prices and a bit of patience during busy hours, Pearl Restaurant has become our preferred destination for a laid-back yet delicious dumpling feast.
Can t believe this was $26. I picked up the chicken sautéed in homemade hot & sweet sauce. Very disappointed with the portion provided. They said the rice needed to be added on. The only thing worth coming for here is their hot & sour soup at $8.
Pricey but worth it
Went here on Family Day with kids, wife, grandma. Food was ridiculously salty. Shrimp dumplings were good. Flickering light at back was not very relaxing. Better options downtown or in Richmond hill.
We were the only people eating. Food was ok but very oily. Service was the worst. There were three servers but no one was around to offer even a spoon for fried rice. Basically I had to yell to get their attention in this restaurant. No smile on any servers face. No wonder that we were the only ones there.
Mid market pricing and great menu choices! The portion sizes are tremendous, and we always feel that we have great value for the money. Do try the fries rice! And the fried chicken!
First time coming here to get my new years dinner. The food was yummy and fresh, will come next time to dine in. Thank you
The dim sum was very good, it was busy but the service was fast.
Dim Sum and their stir fried noodles are great!
Some of the worst Peking duck I ve ever had. Dry and the chips were stale. Yuck!
Very old Cantonese style restaurant in the Bayview Village Mall. They also serves dim sum for the afternoon. This is an authentic chinese restaurant and the taste is good. You can find good chinese food here for sure. Dimsum is also very respectable and tasty. Highly recommended Parking: ample parking in bayview village
Nice spot! Food was great. No complaints here.
Saw a promotion for Peking duck, $65 instead of $82 or something like that so wanted to give it a try and I also never tried Pearl restaurant here before. We pretty much only order Peking duck so my rating is only based on this dish. When the dish comes out, i don t think it s worth this price even at $65 considering I can get similar quality at cheaper price point else where. The duck skin is still very crunchy and the wrap is the kind that feels like thin bread which tasted very good, but not worth this price point though presentation wise, abit sloppy if u asked me. Not the biggest concerns as food goes into my mouth at the end and taste is most important. Taste wise, it s not bad when comparing to other Chinese restaurant in TO but not better as well so the experience is average because of the high asking price.
Subpar food with little flavour. Peking duck is gamey. Portions are smaller than comparable Chinese restaurants.
Convenient for shoppers after doing some shopping in the Bayview Mall
Food was just ok. My husband and I like to share meals, not for financial reasons but for health reasons and eating less. They were not very receptive to that. The minimum is $20 order but that was fine with us. They brought us a dish that we didnt realize wasnt part of our order and then came and took it away saying this isnt part of your lunch if you want it youll have to pay for it. We didnt want it, we had just thought it was part of the lunch we ordered. Just not a good vibe in there, manager not friendly once we mentioned sharing a meal. Food not any better than a food court to be honest. Plus an iced tea or soft drink is $5 for a small glass so beware.
My aunt and I came in for lunch. The food was alright, but when it came to paying it was the issue. The lady hovered over me while I was making a transaction. Right after, she kept asking for tips. Saying that I need to give her extra cash or another transaction. Did not listen to me when I said no, she kept on pressuring us to tip to the point it was rude. After we gave her a tip, she and her co-worker kept looking over at us until we left.
Food and atmosphere is excellent .
Great food! Sunday dimsum menu ranged from 8 to 11 per plate. Decent portions and good quality. We ordered rice and peppered shrimp off the main menu and it was super pricey but delicious. Honestly its quality vs quantity. Service wasnt great but didnt bother us at all. We would definitely go back.
Good
This is an attractive restaurant in a mall environment (their second location in the city). Unfortunately, the food is average and expensive (as with the first location). Service is friendly, but spotty and slow. Better options are easily available.
My partner had been here before but I wanted to try it for it s convenient location at Bayview Shopping Mall. It s a clean QUIET ( it was when we re there but we went past prime lunch time for dim sum) we ordered from the menu but I k no prices that prices for the dish sizes were not advertised in the menu. A bit worrying but we didn t think to ask. The dishes that came were nice but not over the top for the pricing when we got the bill. The sticky rice was ok but hardly had anything in it. The best thing was the taro cups with pork and diced scallop, it was unusual and delectable but was so small it disappeared quickly. Only two to the order. We also had prawn and pork sui mai pretty standard fare. Also some sort of water chestnut dessert which came as gelled cubes with chopped bits of water chestnuts that added a slight crunch and not too sweet. I appreciated the calm clean and quiet ambiance. That was the main take away for me. But we ordered the 4 modest dishes and there was barely enough food to feed us. / with tip for two it was $65.00 won t go back as it wasn t good enough value for menu and the only spectacular but was the taro cups. You can see how small they were from the photo.
This was by far the worst experience of picking duck I ever had and pearl management should be ashamed of themself for calling themself professionals who run business when they provide low quality service , serving clients with skins and not caring for client concerns. Pictures speak about it self and I hope the pearl chain save their face by supervising the chains more carefully. Rude staff bad food , and low quality service all around.
Average food and service, not to mention that it s kind of crowded, no view, inside a mall. Over priced definitely.
A cozy little Chinese restaurant located inside Bayview Village. The wait times during lunch can be quite lengthy. Despite this, the dim sum is fantastic, although the portions are slightly smaller than what other Chinese restaurants in town offer. Nonetheless, the taste is excellent.
Our server was rude and not knowledgeable about the food. We saw two kinds of mein noodles on the menu. Chow mein and e-mein noodles. I asked what kind of noodle e-mein was. Her answer was: you won t like it I said why the Canadians won t like it was her answer.. I said maybe we will, can you tell us the difference between those two meins? She could not tell! She said you won t like it again but do you want to try it? Luckily a Chinese lady customer who overheard us, explained perfectly how e-mein noodles were being cooked, its size and how the texture was. And we finally could decide what to order. I love their food, but Pearl in Bayview Village should hire qualified, knowledgeable and better mannered waitresses. Really disappointed..
$24 plus tax for a portion of crystal fold that can only feed one person. Complete rip off. Used to visit their harbourfront location which was always a pleasant experience and good value. First time visiting the bayview village location and the portion is disappointing. This is was a complete rip off.
Pretty good dim sum for bayview village. Their menu is quite confusing though. Certain items can only be made for lunch or dinner so make sure you ask before thinking you can have your favourite dish at the wrong time...
We come here quite often. It is terrific dim sum in an elegant atmosphere. Excellent service, we highly recommend it.
nice dim sum, consistent experiences.
A little Chinese restaurant located in Bayview Village. I have tried the other 2 in downtown, and first time to try this one. I ordered steam spareribs and fried pork dumpling. The price is at the high end which is expected. The food quality is good, except too oily for the fried pork dumpling.
Since it had been years from the last time we visited Toronto we asked a friend who lived there for a suggestion about a Good Chinese Restaurant where a party of nine could go. They suggested the Pearl Bayview Chinese Restaurant and we were all glad that they did. This restaurant is in a shopping mall, so you might have some hesitation, but every once in awhile you come across a Gem. From the Won Ton Soup (delicious) to the perfect egg rolls, Fried Rice, Shrimp with Cashew Nut, Fried Eggplant, and a number of other dishes, everything was delicious. I did notice that all of the other dinner parties were oriental and that I have found is a pretty good indication that the food is very much prepared traditionally. What can I say, we all enjoyed our dinners and had a very good time. I could recommend this restaurant with no hesitation.
I was here recently for lunch. Can someone help them figure out what portion size means. I ordered a chicken vegetable dish for lunch (from lunch special) ....Wheres the chicken? I said ok.. Then next to me there was a woman on her lunch break on the phone discussing her rental issue (ease dropping is my skill) learning she either owns or works in the mall and is describing her sincere concern of her business and how it is not doing so well since Bayview has this new manager. I feel for the tenants here, I do. Perhaps that is why theyre cutting on my chicken? Inflation and cost of rent in Bayview is making for a bitter experience for customers. Message to BV Management Help management afford chicken! Replace the GM Parking: Close to entrance
Extremely poor customer service. No, lets change that . . . HORRIBLE customer service, during BOTH of my visits to this sleezy place. Disrespectful, blank-faced, rude servers who barely speak English. Why does this place hire non-English-speaking servers, when it is located in a Canadian mall where every other restaurant and shop has English-speaking clerks? In Pearl Bayview Chinese Cuisine, for the customer, the simplest request turns into a chore of repeating yourself six times (I would like another napkin please. What you mean --naaap--kinnn??) You know -- this white thing (holding one up). No understand. What you mean -- naap-kinn?) So then I ask to speak with the Manager (hoping Ill get lucky and end up with an employee who speaks English). No permit speak with Manager...What you mean?) etc. etc. You get the drift. Wow. The Pearl Bayview has the WORST customer service Ive probably ever received in a Chinese restaurant in my life! Seriously. The servers ignore you (walking past you 6 times, while you waive vigorously to TRY to get their attention). They just go to the Japanese/Chinese customers . . . and IGNORE you if you are any other color. Double-Wow. Wont be going back to this dump. Trust me, the food quality wont matter to you at all, when you experience these rude, moron, blank-faced, empty-expression, non-English-speaking servers and their neglect. Guess you can see they really got me angry--enough to write this review of my experiences, and to warn others of what to expect.
best all day dimsum, food served hot and attentive staff
Good, fresh and conveniently situated in the village
We have eaten at this restaurant several times over the years. The food is ok and the service is hit and miss. After today s experience, we will never come back. There were 4 of us there for lunch. We all ordered a lunch off of the set lunch menu. 2 diners ordered soup to start. Instead of bring the soup first as ordered, they brought one person their lunch. 10 minutes later, his bowl of soup came. The other soup was no where to be found! Next came another diner s lunch. Still no soup and while 2 of the diners had meals, 2 had nothing. After some delay, the third lunch was brought. Still no soup and one diner had no food. Up to this point we had not been able to get anyones attention. We asked about the soup and the 4ths person entree. Seems they missed the soup but still had not brought the entree. Finally the soup came. Everyone else had almost finished their meals. We had to ask them to bring the last entree. I m not sure how the manger can walk around and see only one person with food and not try and correct the problem. From my perspective not all the diners of this establishment are treated equally! It really is a shame!
Horrible! Saturday Jan 29/22. Ordered a bunch of dim sum. Refried overly oily , rancid oil taste, enough to be worried about food poisoning. This used to be my go-to dim sum place in North Toronto. I will NEVER go back.
Enjoyed a good dimsum lunch. Maybe a little pricey (consider the rent they have to pay here) but the dimsum were plump and full of meat, and the shrimps of above average size. Service was good.
This place does not have a big menu. I had some of their dim sum and they are all delicious!
Visited for a late lunch. Tables are nicely spread out to offer some privacy. Ordered the discounted Peking duck special and some dim sum items. All the food was great tasting. Would recommend this place if your in the mood for some excellent Chinese food. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable.
Good taste and good service
Been with PP since their only location was at Queens Quay. Always consistent with quality and taste and service.
Staffs are friendly
Always the best
Great food all around. Reasonably priced and kind staff.
High Price, Low Value, Little Flavour. Very strange decor. Doesn t look or feel like a restaurant. The three Pearl restaurants in the GTA have different menus and different ways of cooking the dishes they do share. The server implied Pearl at Bayview Village was the least desirable place to dine. If you re in that mall, choose any other restaurant to eat at. Food was nicely presented but Wonton soup broth was just water and a bit of oil. The silver noodles were dense slug-like bits of starch. No flavour at all. Steamed dumplings very basic. No flavour. I spent $37 on lunch, was not full, and had no beverage. But I had seven urgent trips to the washroom that afternoon.
Delicious
Great lobster deal 2.5 pound lobster for only 66 bucks, a great deal for a ginger scallion lobster Jessie our waitress did an excellent job of making us feeling wanted we super service Thanks Mark
Love dim sum
Best Chinese restaurant And best dim sum by far
Good was good in taste and good quality. Not enough in quantity for the price. It was a good dining experience overall.
Updated review: Has an issue with takeout order (ridiculous portion size) and the issue was addressed same day. The owner was very communicative and management was kind. Food itself is good, would recommend if you re in the area! Much better for dine in though!
Clean and friendly service I had 4 different dim dum items. All items were fresh and hot. Service is quick and servers are attentive. Will repeat for sure.
quite expensive
Nice food and clean resturant
Great food , love this mall too
As the other guy said, this is literally THE WORST value for your money. $27.00 for undercooked rice & overcooked sesame chicken with one depressing lettuce leaf in a tiny take out container . What a joke. 10/10 dont reccomend. Take your money to the nearest mall and get 5xs the food youd get here.
Pricy. I paid $23 for this. This isn t $23 worth of food to me.
As others have said, the food is mediocre at best. Any other dim sum place in the city is nearly guaranteed to be better, this is roughly the quality of what youd get at an ACYE sushi place. The real issue is the pricing - they leave the dim sum a la carte costs off the menu for a reason. S/M/L dishes cost $7/$9/$10 each, with four dumplings being considered a large. For two people, we ended up with a bill of $100 plus tax and tip (granted we only managed to eat about $80 worth). 2 stars since the food isnt awful and the service was good.
INCREDIBLY overpriced. The Staff was very nice but even the tea was $4. Honestly I ve had better from restaurants that was a quarter of the price blindedsided because the price wasn t on the menu but I near passed out when I saw the bill at the end. I won t be returning
Incredible service and food for a very good price. Try the ship toast and Har Gao.
This dinner was incredibly overpriced, and probably the worst Peking Duck I ve had. The wrappers were made of the same dough as steamed buns, so they were over sweet and didn t actually wrap anything without falling apart. The cucumbers weren t cut in strips. I don t understand? Did they even try the food they made before inflicting their approach on their customers?
Good food and service
Yes, ok, it s a tad pricey (but not really) and service isn t stellar (although everyone has always been really nice to us over the years) but the amazing food more than makes up for any drawbacks, and, again, they re nice to me. Get the General Tao Chicken and spicy eggplant dishes. Thanks!
Overpriced, underserved, not so good food, ruined our Thanksgiving meal, so disappointed, never set foot there again. Be advised. I learned my lesson.
Overpriced!!! Peking duck was the worst that we ve ever had. The wrap wasn t like how it supposed to be, couldn t even use it to wrap
Terrible experience. Took over five minutes for vaccine verifications. Bad and rude service. Try to avoid going to this restaurant if you could.
We order from here regularly as its one of the best in this area. Its a little pricey but for the area, sheppard/bayview/north York. Their silver thread noodles are handmade and yummy.
Too expensive compared to the restaurants in canada, because the food is also very normal
Very enjoyable Chinese meal
This was the first time visiting this location. The table linens and cutlery were very impressive. We ordered off the dim sum lunch menu which had a comfortable selection of standard dishes. The har gow was filled with large fresh tasting shrimp. The sui mai was a nice blend of pork and shrimp and eat food held its individual flavour. We ordered 6 items and everyone was delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive. The price is a little higher but is well worth the investment.
A bit pricey, good dim sum.
Amazing high quality dim sum
Needs to improve their service and quality for their food. To expensive compared to others.
The food deserve the price.. But looks like the servers are very cool.
Ive been ordering from Pearl for a long time. This is a great Chinese restaurant with fantastic service. The people are kind and understanding and the food is prepared quickly. The prices are a bit on the steep side, but you get real quality food. I would 100% recommend checking Pearl out.
A fancy dim sum restaurant in the Bayview Village mall. There is nothing special or unique about the food they serve, considering the prices they charge. This place is always full because most of the customers are not Chinese and have no idea how much this food is actually supposed to cost. This food is at the same level as the cheapest dim sum restaurants in Toronto but youre paying 3 times as much for it here. Staff are fairly nice which is the only reason this place isnt getting 1 star. I will not be returning, sorry.
Its good dimsum and really handy when you really want some in the area and get to walk it off around the mall after. But for the price you can easily do better around the area here. I would mainly come here if you wanted to walk around Bayview village mall after else to make a trip to dimsum only you get better value just a block away.
Excellent food and service, wide variety to choose from including dim sum
I found an insect looking like a grasshopper in a Noodle Wonton Soup I ordered through Uber Eat on 28 February 2019. Wish I could add a picture.
Great dim sum this what I come here for! Excellent lunch takeout items, American style stir fry goodness! Not many good options in this area so this is a must! I give them 8/10!
The food was not bad but their service was so bad.
Great spot if you like Chinese food. Small restaurant in Bayview Village Mall that has delicious daily lunch specials as well as a really great and varied menu. Super friendly staff from the minute you walk in through the entire meal. Really great food from the spring rolls, beef and snow peas, vegetable fried rice and cashew chicken. De-lish!
I didnt eat the lunch set, only dim sum and wontons. Dim sum is okay. If you eat two plates of wonton, dim sum, and two cans of cola, the tip is $50. Its expensive.
Good service .Clean.good food but not flavorful.
We are fairly regular dim sum patrons at this reasonably small restaurant located inside a shopping centre. It is bright and clean. If we are a large group (6 to 10) we have made a reservation which has always been honoured right on time. The staff is extremely efficient, accommodating, and for the most part have been there for years. The dim sum comes out hot and quite quickly...and is very good. The prices may be a little higher than in Chinatown (on Spadina) but not dramatically different. Never had a bad experience here and will return soon.
BOTTEM LINE: Worst value of food you can possibly buy with money. This is coming from a certified Chinese person. I m not saying there isn t a place for fine dining Chinese food. But if you re looking for anything even resembling for a bang for your buck, you ll be disappointed. The picture below costs $25 as the cheapest take out option. That s all it s included, no rice, no drink. $25 meal for Chinese take out in the smallest container for the same quality as you would get at any random mall for $4 take out. I believe it is an unethical business practice and is designed to undermine non-Asian customers. Not only were they rude after calling them over this disappointment of a meal, they would rather accuse their customer of not being knowledgeable in their custom.
Food quality just enough to get by. The setting is more like an average càfe, not particularly comfortable. The servers are unprofessional, chatting among themselves and inattentive to guests. Pricey though!
Way too expensive for what it is
Good Chinese food
Absolute worst dimsum I ve ever had in my life. I think everything here is just frozen and microwaved. Don t ever come here.
Very authentic and delicious dim sum. Friendly staff. Convenient location.
Was here for dinner on a Saturday December 7th, probably not a good time to eat at a mall restaurant being so close to Christmas, but we did get a table around 6:15pm. The restaurant was very busy. Wanted to go on the website to look at the menu but it was down, I did mention this to the owner? when I came in, no response. I did then go to the menu at the Harbourfront location. One problem, there are no desciptions of the dishes; some items are obvious but not all, so a description would be appreciated. I agree with the other reviewers; the dishes are overpriced compared to most chinese restaurants; $23, $25 and up. I thought the food was good, but not exceptional to warrant the high price for an average size portion. The service here suffered because it was so busy. They didnt give us a wine/beer list we had to request one, which makes me believe most people that come here do not drink. We had spring rolls to start, Kung pao chicken, a chef recommended beef tenderloin dish and country style fried rice w/ shrimps, scallops, chicken & mixed vegetables (this I would not order again). A lot of the menu items are just to pricey to consider. Maybe will give one more chance when less busy but not sure.
Love it!
Good value, clean and quick service. Consider a reservation so you dont get turned away.
Tasteless , very bad food quality. Bad service.
Best dim sum I ve been to in Toronto so far. The quality of the food is great and everything was flavorful. Much cleaner than other Chinese restaurants. Highly recommend. The customer service was satisfactory but no great.
The owner is Sour , leaves a bad taste
Good food, pleasant!
Best chicken chow mein Ive had... ever. Its high quality, but, high prices as well.
