Guo kui, also known as Rou jia mo, meaning "meat sandwich", called “Chinese burger” in western countries, is a street food originating from the cuisine of Sichuan Province and now widely consumed all over China. The meat is most commonly pork, stewed for hours in a soup containing over 20 spices and seasonings. The meat is then minced or chopped, then mixed with chopped coriander and capsicums, and stuffed in "Guo kui", a type of flatbread. In addition to the traditional seasoned meat, there are various flavors of fillings, which include Lanrou Cowpea, Stew Pork &Beans, Spicy Beef &Tripe, Chili Chicken, Braised Pork, Steam Beef, Chili Pig Ear and Chili Bamboo Shoots.
Visited here during a weekday lunch hour. Surprisingly this food court was really clean and spacious. The dish I had was a pork ribs noodle soup which was $15. They offer a wide range of spicy level for you to choose from. The owners could also personalize your food to your own likings. They are very sweet and welcoming. The pork ribs were so juicy and tender. That kind of melt-in-your-mouth softness. You can definitely tell that the pork had been stewed for a long time. The soup itself was rich and a bit peppery. The noodle was chewy with a filling portion. In terms of restaurant vibe, this food court is cozy. The place is accessible directly to the Sheppard-Yonge subway station which is so convenient to visit.
I got their beef rice noodle, it tasted a lot better than expected!
The woman at the front was so friendly and nice. I got the spicy sour potato noddle! So good and spicy. She also delivered it to our table. I definitely recommend it. The food stall located in a food court.
First of all the lady was supper nice and polite showing me all the best selling dishes. Really tasty stir fried Pork and hot pepper with rice !!
Service is great, girls are really lovely, but food is really basic.... We wanted something not too spicy, lady advised us: 1) Beef soup 2) Sweat and sour beef with rice. Soup is not spicy but it has NO flavor at all! plane and very fat broth. I would expect at lease some taste and received 0/10. I threw it after 2-3 spoons. Beef with rice is sweat but rice itself is overcooked just not tasty. Sorry but wont come back.
I ordered the spicy beef hamburger. It’s quite small but actually has some good heat to it. The bun at first sight looks like an English muffin, but when it all comes together and you bite into it, is warm and soft. The best bites come when the sauce starts to get absorbed into the bun, which makes for a nice treat. They have 7 different varieties of the “Chinese burger” and it’s more of a snack or add-on to a meal, but pretty good flavour. This is located in the “green building” right at Yonge and Shepard and is in their “food court.” Service was fast and they informed us that the buns they use for the burger are made fresh daily. Great little place.
The dishes from here were quite flavourful and hearty. I tried their beef & tripe Chinese burger and found myself really liking the filling. The outer pancake was lightly toasted, giving it a slight crisp, while the filling was spicy and seasoned very nicely.
Really tasty food here. There is a lot of competition in the food court so all the vendors have to be on too of this game. The menu has enough variety. There are grab and go as well as sit down items. Some authentic and mash up choices. The food was ready very fast and the staff were very nice. Didn't feel rushed or hustled. Will come back
Excellent
After eating the dry noodles, there was a hair that was well mixed and I don t know where it was. It was so disgusting! The braised pork costs 17 per serving. Look at these pitiful pieces of meat. I will never eat from him again
Beef noodle soup is so addictive!
The staff in black sweatshirts today had a really bad attitude. I asked her for a receipt and just threw it away
The Guokui is full of green onions and coriander, and I feel like I haven t even eaten a piece of meat, which is a bit uncomfortable.
Got soy milk from here today and it doesn t taste fresh.
Ordered something paid for it and received the wrong and the cheaper item, even when ordered directly by pointing at the item on the menu in front of the cashier! This is the 3rd time this happened, either given the wrong order or missing items! The cashier is poorly trained and has no idea of the menu or what to do. The food quality is also getting worse and unpalatable too. Will not go back again!
Prompt and friendly service. I had the Stew Beef Noodle Soup and it was the right amount of food and delicious taste.
Best food in Emerald towers. Broccoli is the best thing on the menu and the Chinese burgers too!
Guokuis amazing very authentic. Can taste the effort they put into it.
Food was so numbing I couldnt taste anything and my mouth was tingling non stop. Rouniamo was SOGGY instead of crispy at the outside.
I particularly like the beef noodles here. The meat is very fragrant and plentiful. At present, this taste is definitely one of the best in most places. As a Sichuanese, I am really lucky to be able to taste such authentic Sichuan cuisine in a foreign land. The Guokui is also good, the noodles are soft and the meat is full, so it s just right.
I m so hungry
Spicy rice noodles recommended
Not as delicious as before The most recent one I went to was the Couple s Fei Sian Guokui, which was full of coriander. Sichuan beef noodles are neither spicy nor numb. It turned out to be really delicious. I miss it!
Ordered their signature noodle bowl - spicy. It was absolutely delicious - Highly recommended for authentic Chinese food - Can t wait to have it again
I tried their noodle, it was pretty delicious!
Ordered takeout. Overall, the taste was bland and nothing particularly surprising. Rotten meat and cowpea rice: four stars. The taste is pretty good, but the amount of rotten cowpeas is relatively large. The cowpeas are soft and delicious. The side dish of red oil shredded potatoes is also good, not particularly spicy, but it goes well with rice. Steamed Beef Pot-Kui: Three Stars. Guokuis pancakes are pretty good, soft and fragrant. The steamed beef with vermicelli contains too much coriander, and the taste is too strong to cover up the taste of the beef. Maybe I dont like coriander, so I dont like it very much. Red oil wontons: three stars. The taste is quite fragrant, but too salty. I ate a few that were so salty that I couldnt eat them anymore. Sour plum soup: four stars. It tastes good, not particularly sweet, and quite refreshing. Drinking it gives you a refreshing feeling.
Delicious spicy beef sandwiches (~$7.50 with tax)
Ive been here 3 times ordering 3 different kinds of dishes: beef soup noodles, pork ribs + veggie with white rice, and wonton soup + dumplings. The result has always been the same: delicious and substantial. Highly recommended!
Not good.
I dont know about their guokui since I didnt order it. But the pork rice was absolutely delicious! The pork belly was cooked perfectly.
I ordered the beef soup and duck meat from Chengdu Guokui last week located at 136- 4750 Yonge Street, North York. The beef was so tender and very well marinated. The portion was so generous and it took me 2 days to finish it. Duck meat with the spicy sauce was also delicious. They have friendly staff, clean and good place for take-out orders. Strongly recommended.
The service attitude is very good and the food tastes authentic. I hope it will get better and better.
Did someone in the customer service family just die?
Just ordered via UrberEat - good portion and flavour, clean presentation which are the important 3 elements for take out. Some dishes are on promotion and they didn t cheap out on the portion which shows good business sense (I will never order again from places that do that). Son, the Canadian born likes the Chicken Leg lunch and I enjoy more authentic dishes - it s rare to find a restaurant we all enjoy so will order again!
Food is amazing. Staff is courteous. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic sichuan cuisine. The burgers, noodles and brown sugar jelly is out of this world amazing. check out this place
Very good beef soup noodles for a $15.00 price point. Would recommend.
I ordered the pork hamburger that was OK and the Spicy noodle soup. When ordering I asked whether the soup was very hot and was assured that I can get it not very hot. In reality, the soup was EXTREMELY hot so much so that it can be referee to as suicide hot. So much so that you can not taste anything but the hot peppers (there were many 1 cm pieces of red hot peppers as well as much chopped red hot-pwppers). As a result, the meal was not very enjoyable.
Can this be called Guokui? What is the difference between it and Roujiamo? You can just fool people.
Best spicey noodle soup
I ordered it for two days in a row. The first time it was OK and delicious. The second time I ordered the bamboo shoots in Guokui were bitter and not delicious. Also, the color of the wrapping paper stuck to the wrapping paper. I hope you can pay attention to it.
Good taste, authentic Szechuan cuisine, I just wish the price can be lower and they will have promotions sometimes. Authentic Chengdu taste, the noodles and pot helmets are delicious, and the guests are also very enthusiastic. I just hope it can be cheaper, hold activities, pay cash to get a discount, etc.
Amazing noodle soups! We had the spicy ground pork and braised beef - both were super delicious. Lovely service and our order was ready very quickly.
It s really tasty.
I was so excited that I ate it all in one sitting, so I didn t take any photos. Fresh food with good flavor, highly recommended.
It s extremely unpalatable and expensive. You can t believe how little red oil there is for a portion of 7 yuan, and there s no soup. It s all mushy. The most important thing is that there s no salt and it s all chili oil! What did I eat? Not to criticize you, but I gave you two chances. I ordered Guokui for the first time because I am a Chengdu native and thought it would be more expensive if it was more delicious. But I was given a ghost thing that was only as big as the palm of my hand. Do you dare to call yourself Guokui? Wont give any chance again.
Wontons in Sichuan chili sauce are awesome!!!!
There are only three or four fake pot helmets and red oil copycats.
The portion is so small... not even one girl can get enough.
tasty! The quantity is so small that it deserves one star! 5 bites of hot and sour noodles costing 12 yuan! The 15-yuan beef brisket noodles were eaten in 5 bites. I have eaten at this restaurant at least 7 times. The number of times is pitiful. Reply to the shop owner: I told the front desk twice that the quantity was too small and could you please give me more. The front desk of your store told me that the amount of each portion is fixed and I cannot add more.
Niceee....first tine trying Chinese food.
I really like eating ice noodles, spicy chicken feet and spicy noodles. They are really delicious, spicy and spicy. It feels like I have returned to China. It s so delicious that I cried ( ´ ` )
Get the wontons. The sauce has this numbing spice. It is delicious
The food is delicious. I highly recommend their noodles. They are tasty and fragrant. Adding some vinegar will make them taste better. The hot and sour noodles and the steamed beef pot helmets are a perfect match. Generally, I like to eat the noodles without sesame and paired with the steamed beef and couples lungs. Piece of helmet.
The noodles are super delicious and the attitude is also very good
Overall its still delicious, but compared to the real Chengdu Guokui, the skin of this restaurants Guokui is too soft.
Spicy noodle soap very tasty. Very nice service.
Everything here is delicious! Recommend everyone to come
The best Sichuan cold noodle that I ever had in Toronto!
Very tasty. Very authentic.
The Guokui and other items are quite delicious, but I feel like their portions are very small.
Nice
