Have visited this restaurant a few times before but today was the worse service received today. Went in restaurant when it just opened. Server today was Vida. She doesnt smile and is extremely so rude. We ordered our regular pancit mix and Crispy Pata. You would think Crispy Pata is made fresh but it was mixed newly cooked and reheated meat because some meat was so dry. Server never checked up on us and there were no other customers there. When it came to paying server Vida handed the pay machine to our table but held onto the receipt. When i asked her if i could see my receipt she gave us a dirty look because she didnt want us to see our bill included a 10% service charge already. When we finished paying we said “Thank you” and she just walked away. If this restaurant continues to be served by Vida she will drive the customers away with her rude attitude. Even when we left the restaurant she didnt even acknowledge us.
Food was mediocre. Lacked depth of flavors. Grilled fish wasn’t fresh and was dry and bland. Service was slow and hard to flag down the servers. Limited parking.
A fun Filipino restaurant where you can sing or enjoy people singing and have good time with your friends and family. Their food surprised me a lot, it was delicious. I was very hesitate to come because i read some bad reviews about the service but to my surprise they were very friendly and caring.
One thing I love is a mom and pops eatery. This here is definetly that. Your quaint LLBO bar, and how can you forget the fun of Karaoke. We didn't go to sing, but that would be a fun family fun outing. We enjoyed the Pancit Bihon that was made fresh to order and not to mention delicious. As our side meat we had the skewers of pork and chicken BBQ (must order min 3 skewers). The vinegar for the skewers had a little kick and that too was flavourful. won't regret the amount of skewers ordered as everything is made as shareable plates. This is little gem of a restaurant. PS...Tell AJ hi while your there a great energy that you will appreciate. PPS..Tita if your reading this, your food will still always be #1. But, this spot is YUMMY!
Food was pretty amazing. We ordered menudo and chicken skin. The serving was pretty generous but their pricing is more expensive than the other restaurants beside them. The chicken skin is delicious and complements beers. Their customer service is top notch and the server was courteous and helpful. Pretty good experience overall.
First Saturday lunch visit. When you enter, the place looks outdated and needs more lighting, but we realized this is a karaoke bar restaurant so we didn't mind. We ordered the garlic fried rice, lechon kawali, sisig bangus, pancit bihon & chicken mami. Everyone's favorite is the sisig bangus, naubos agad! Very yummy din yung ibang foods. Try the chicken mami! They have free karaoke 🎤 Good customer service. Served us really well 👌 We will definitely be back!
Lots of outdoor seating (seat yourself!) & seating well spaced out ~ in a super casual setting Large portions - great for group sharing Delicious bbq chicken skewers - soft, flavourful & moist Pancit bihon had some lovely chunks of crispy lechon Not salty, good flavour, server did a great job, especially considering he was on his own in our section Follow me on Instagram @aida.loves
Went there last Friday for the Ontario reopening. We arrived before 6.30pm and the outdoor tents were packed. Nice friendly atmosphere. They had repainted the patio bar and fence ( since before Covid) in a classy Caribbean vacation blue and the place just looks dope. We stayed till midnight and stuffed our faces. The food was still as good as ever! We had lechón, palabok, kare kare and bangus sisig. So amazing. We were singing and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Too bad the karaoke wasn't open till there's indoor dining again. But we'll be back in no time. 🙂
This place is terrible. Owner mistreat their employees! I would never ever step foot into this place again nor should others!....
This place has good atmosphere but the staff are very racist. I went here with two of my friends and they fully threw me out and I know it was because I wasnt a phillipino
The Manager Kick out me and my boyfriend and also my friends, because we didn t order enough drinks (?!??!)and we felt that we were discriminated because we were not their culture
Good food but bad service. We asked for 2 orders of isaw and giving us 2 sticks of it. Worth $5, which is so expensive per sticks. We normally buy this for 6 sticks (2 orders). NOT ONLY that! we wait for 1hr just to finish grilling this food. Which makes us more pissed.
To be honest, it is a business that does not even deserve one star, the food is terrible, the environment inside is terrible, the sound quality is terrible, it is an indescribably terrible workplace...
We had a great night!
I have been ordering sisig here since its really close to the sisig I love back home, but my latest order was not the sisig it should be! Too many Vinegar and it has even ginger? Did my order through uber eats! Food
Food was great and the staffs are friendly.
Enjoy Parking: Better Food : 5/5 |
I am extremely disappointed with my recent dining experience at Marcelina s restaurant. My husband and I traveled an hour specifically to eat at a Filipino restaurant, only to be met with terrible service from waitress JASMINE and her co-worker TOTO if I m not mistaken. Not only they were unprofessional, but they were also incredibly unapproachable. Its a shame that the service completely ruined what could have been a decent meal. The food was average at best, but the WORST service from Jasmine overshadowed any positive aspects of our visit. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, unless they enjoy being treated poorly by the staff.
Loveee all of their food mostly sisig and there soups. Lovee it, taste like home.
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at your restaurant. During our visit, I discovered an additional $50 tip added to my bill without my consent. This unauthorized charge increased my total bill from $240 to $290 plus (20$ cash) Unfortunately, this isnt the first instance of such unauthorized tipping at your establishment.Adding tips without customer consent undermines trust and transparency. While I appreciate good service, its crucial to uphold fair and honest practices.I urge you to address this matter promptly and ensure that tipping remains a voluntary choice for customers.Thank you for your attention to this issue.
Another restaurant with a sneaky service charge. We usually tip $10-15 but thankfully my friend saw the service charge. NOT A FAN OF IT because i was sneakily robbed $100 service charge before. BECAREFUL WHEN DINNING IN HERE!
Sneaky Service Charge
nice place
Edit: Apparently they have an automatic service charge, we were not told that at all so we basically double tipped. How greedy! They overcharge you on the bill We ordered the chicharon bituka, beef tapa, bopis, lomi, and a bowl of rice good for 3-4 ppl. According to their online menu that should amount to $104 including tax. When we asked for the bill the server only verbally said how much we had to pay, no actual bill, which should ve been the first red flag. He said our bill was $115, so we paid that plus tip. Anyway, the food isn t even good. Bopis was malansa, beef tapa tasted more like bistek tagalog, lomi was meh. There are much better Filipino places to go to around Bathurst, ones that serve great tasting food at reasonable prices and they don t try to trick you with the bill. Will never go back.
very sketchy place and wouldn t give you the full amount of food you paid for. ordered through uber eats and i tried to contact them but since they were very busy, i ve been waiting on the call for a very long time and nobody seems to wanna talk to me. heard one of the employees in the back saying we re trying to scam them when we have a full receipt we paid for. please avoid.
I dine in twice here with my family. This restaurant is not child friendly, there was no high chair or any chair they can offer for our babies. Also, make sure to check your receipt cause they charge tip automatically. I always give 15% tip anyways, but didnt know they billed me for tip initially so basically I paid for double tip. Anyhow, i wil never recommend this place.
Must try: Caldereta, pansit bihon and grilled chicken. Not the best Filipino restaurant in town but the customer service was good.
Parking: Hard to find a parking in busy days. Food
Nothing special. Food is too salty and oily. Aside from being too pricey, they add mandatory 10% service charge (even for takeouts) and 20% tip on the bill. We paid cash, but were not given the $20 change (so greedy!). For 7 ordinary dishes, we paid almost $300. Customers should not be ripped off and should be given the option to tip!!! We work doubly hard to earn money, and we do not receive tips from anybody! Also, were not pleased with the customer service & food handling. Sucks! If you want a great dining experience, look for better places around where you can enjoy reasonably-priced good food and satisfactory customer service.
Extremely stuck up snotty self centered nasty tude errogamt management. This place was great many many years ago its not the same at all. Tessy is a very rude ignorant shallow very unprofessional operator always cursing and yelling people off. They are very discrimating with few people I noticed them randomly rejecting people from establishments for Absolutely no reasons given or anything as well. The food has also gone downhill big time and extremely expensive. We go to other pinoy bars now much better much more pleasant staff.
Good customer service .
Excellent food and service. Fair pricing and the owner and her staff are very friendly. Ive taken out and dined in and Ive been a very satisfied customer.
Marcelinas resto is one of the best food.the serving of food is superb.Being a regular guest the staff is very friendly..
I placed an order for pick up over the phone. The waitress greeted me and gave me their payment terminal and instructed me where is the tip side. I pressed the no tip simply because I am broke and tip are (optional) usually for dine in. Then she gave me a side eyes and frowned at me!?
The sinigang was so good!
Great Filipino food.
If I could put no star at all to leave my review, i will. Waited for 40mins for a lechon kawali we ordered instore for take out and recieved just half of the normal portion we usually get. The prawn crackers are more than the meat itself and the meat was really overcooked to the point that the meat has shrunk and you can t taste the flavor anymore. We will never order and come back to this restaurant ever again. Save your money and go somewhere else.
They should make their place smaller so the staff can accommodate customers. We waited for 30 mins to get the menu, almost an hour to wait for someone to take our order but we decided to leave. They won t accept our order from the bar inside because we were sitting outside. It s so frustrating. Wasted our time.
Authentic filipino food, perfect place to hang out or have some drinks
Pork bbq not cooked properly! (Someone need to inspect that) VERY VERY slow service. We finished eating but the water didn t serve yet!
went to Toronto for a vacation and ofc I craved for Filipino food. I searched and what I found first was Republika and we went there. Decided to go to Marcelina s instead because there s too many people in republika restaurant. I really regret going to Marcelina s because the food was not good and the service was very bad. It s also very pricey, and what s more annoying is that they charged a service fee. They should give us the option to tip because for me that depends on the service provided to you. We had a lot of leftovers because we ordered a lot, we didnt know that the food was not good and the management was bad and that is why I asked for takeout boxes. They gave us 4 small takeout box and I asked for 6. Because we had 6 different dishes. I tried to make them fit but it didn t work so I had to ask again for another 2. They gave us small size again, I asked the old lady and it seems like she s the owner and very rude. I told her Why did you guys give us small take out boxes, don t you have the regular size of those? and she said they don t have bigger boxes. When she gave me the 2 takeout boxes that I asked for, she told me she s going to charged me for them. WOWWWW RIGHT?! Since when did restaurants charged for takeout boxes? Unbelievable! I didn t want that to ruin my day so I just came back to our table and continue what I was doing. But then, I saw the table in front of us that they asked for takeout box too but what was given to them was bigger size and the one that I asked to the lady. But she said she didn t have any of those size. What a liar!! If I could rate no star at all, I will. DON T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!
The food was great although some dishes takes a while to be prepared which is not a problem as it shows that the place serves them freshly cooked. The inside is a bit cramped but perks is you can sing and drink alcohol. While they do have outside tents it is only for dining. For those who wants to sing make sure to come prepared with your song code in hand as the line up is sooooo long(it may not be as long on other days but weekends yes). Food and drink prices: some are priced just right and then there are options that seemed to go beyond that.
Great.
Food is always satisfying and homey.
Lomi -5 stars Palabok - 1 star Service - 1 star, Nora the service crew is rude, very rude. Food : 2/5
Chicken barbecue has inconsistent taste and amount of sauce :/
You guys need to renovate your place coz its very gross!!!! Theres a small cockroach inside the bag that i ordered from uber eats!!!!!! So disgusting!!!! I always suggest this restaurant coz the foods are really good but not anymore im not going to recommend your restaurant again never!!!! Imagine i threw my the foods that i ordered and wasted my money!!!! Very gross!!!! Anyways no wonder if you go inside their restaurant and look around you can imagine theres a lot of cockroach!!!!! For now im not going to order again unless after theyll renovate the place and look clean and no more cockroach!!!!
Great
I always order here via uber eats sometimes they do some wrong order of mine but i always just ignore it last time they forgot to include my order of rice and last night i order chopsuey and sarabasab. Very disappointed to see this in my order. Where s the food safety and cleanliness. Management and people on the kitchen should look for this! This is not the first time last time i ordered kare kare and the veggie got some hair i didnt took a picture cus i just said its okay but not again this time. Not worthy for the amount costumer paying
The over charge you on the bill
Your sound system is so bad!! Not good for Karaoke!!!!! Your speaker sounds so bad!!!! Its a pity that your speaker is so ugly!! Change it!! Powered speakers are cheap!! Your speaker is ugly!! 3 years ago when we went to Jan until now, your speakers are still very ugly sounding like a trunk!! It seems like a pity to change your speakers!! Just plz!!!!
Marcelina s has always been my go to Filipino restaurant in Toronto. We had a blast last Saturday with friends and family. Not only they serve really good food, they also have great customer service. Staff is friendly, efficient and respectful. Food is top notch and served fresh. No matter what the celebration is, it is always special when we spend it here. And if you go look for Vida, she always serves with a big smile and very friendly. A great place to meet up with friends, feast together, sing together and get drunk together!
Best BBQ and Kareoke place in town. Prices were affordable and the staff & owner were so friendly. Id go back regularly and have already ordered food for my family for the holidays.
Finest food, very kind staff, consistently awesome ambience
We tried a lot of the popular dishes: chicken adobo and pork skewers as well as pancit bihon and it was all really delicious and good portions. There was karaoke and that was really fun and lively. Good prices on beer too. Def recommend if you wanna have some great food and a great time. Because of karaoke it can get a little loud but thats part of the fun
Food was funtastic, shouldve have been accessible the washroom area for disable people
Update on 2022-04-22. We were here last weekend and the food is still amazing.
Now this is a hidden gem!! Its a very chill spot. It has a patio that opens late for the last call. Sports on the big screen. But its really 5 stars for its food and entertainment atmosphere. Service is 5 stars as well. The kitchen is cooked to order. I strongly recommend this place. Sometimes its not always the fanciest place but the most down to earth
Took so long to help and was told they re close when its still 12:10am and it say it close at 1am, made me wait so long for nothing. The guy was rude also
Long wait for the order bad service and not pleasing atmosphere
It s an experience and not the restaurant. Small bar, kind people and good food with a karaoke.
Love it, warm welcome and the food was great, I took pork and they serve it with a vinegar dip sooooo good and portion are big. I suggest you visit this place. Wife and me will visit again for sure
BBQ skewers
Great place to hang out during late afternoon for a few beer at the patio & have dinner in the evening !
So tiny space moving around the table are to close to another not safe for social distancing and price is expensive. And.. Oh! By the way they charge you for the table with $10, and be careful when you standing up because you might hit the other people setting beside you. Not recommended.
We just flew in from Philly/AZ and craved for authentic filipino food. We were excited that this place is open until 1 AM. We ordered dinuguan, pork adobo, lomi, batchoy and lumpia. On our third bite of our adobo my husband noticed 2 small cockroaches and stopped eating. I told him not to eat anymore and then we started eating the dinuguan and found it to smell. We decided not to eat the rest of our food. We told the waitress discretly that they should stop selling the adobo. The waitress said that we will not get charged on adobo, but the rest of our food are 20% discount. I told myself, really as she can see we tasted the rest but decided not to continue. The greeter guy was wearing a sleeveless blue sports jersey and looks low class and undignified. The waitress was presentable. We were still charged 80 Canadian. Not even an apology or an acknowledgement from the mgr not to sell the pork adobo. Such an embarassment and a disgrace. Dirty place and to think, we had to go out of our way to find this establishment to support local. I dont mind old places as long as it is clean, sanitary, tidy and organized. Not even a star. So beware before you eat your food. Receipts and pictures. Sure we have.
i use to suggest this restaurant to other people. But now i wont. They have a bad service and do not know how to handle a customer. . Youl be frustated waiting for so long.Hope they change their style of service
Very bad service! Foods looks liks re-heated only. We ordered sisig supposed to be on a sizzling plate but served in a plate with over cooked egg. Amazing. The SERVER IS VERY RUDE!! I used to RECOMMEND this before but NOT ANYMORE
I WENT TO THIS RESTAURANT WITH MY FAMILY & FRIENDS JUST LAST NIGHT, WE WERE ON THE 1ST TABLE NEAR THE DOOR, the waiter was EXTREMELY RUDE! What was she thinking? That were just kids??? First, SHE DIDNT REALLY CLEAN THE TABLE, she shouldve at least wiped it with a clean cloth, (she just TOOK the plates and bone bag! She should have sanitized it, but at least I WISH she wiped it with the second time because there are still wet spots and leftover stains on the table), 2ND- He had an attitude towards my brother who treated us at that place. He makes it easy for us to order and he has MANY SIDES COMMENTS to my brother and sister who are still DECIDING what they want to eat or order. HIS MOUTH! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL 3RD- We were NOT even offered water! We went home without drinking water because we were fed up with what HE SAID AND HIS ATTITUDE! IF WE DONT GO TO THE FRONT TO SAY WE WILL PAY, WE CANT PAY... WE DONT FEEL THE SERVICE! ACTUALLY, the amount we paid just for FOOD AND SERVICE WHICH WAS NOT WORTH IT, I WISH WE DIDNT PAY ANYMORE, because all throughout our stay there, we did not see or feel even the slightest bit of RESPECT towards us. CUSTOMER. No waiter came back to us anymore... but we made an effort to call a waiter to pay our bill. IF WE KNEW THAT YOUR SERVICE WAS LIKE THIS, WE WOULD NOT HAVE TRYED. WE JUST WANT TO ENJOY BECAUSE WERE ALL COMING FROM WORK, WE WANT TO RELAX, BUT WEVE GOT A HEADACHE!
Hello! Hello!
We went bar hopping last Friday night, it was my first time at this place and I did enjoy my night out. Service was better than Republika (where we first went to) and karaoke night was more lively. I would recommend this place and will def visit again!
The service is extremely slow. We waited 20 mins to get our orders. Moreover, we waited 50 minutes for just lapaz bachoy. Not worth the wait. The waitress doesn t know how to deal with customers. She was rude and not accommodating. I think she s unhappy with her job. Will never go back again. Customer service 0/10 Ambiance 2/10 Food 2/10 (bbq was actually good thus 2 stars but lapaz bachoy 1/10)
Absolutely awful customer experience. Staff is very disorganized and seems to not care at all. We waited for some things from our order for over an hour. The food was decent but overall experience just awful. Will not be coming back even though I love very close.
WILL NEVER COME BACK! VERY SNEAKY! They didnt give us the receipt to begin with and overcharged us. The waitress just gave us the machine to pay, didnt show us the bill (Yeah and we tipped on top of the tips cause we didnt know). After paying, we asked for the receipt, found that the bill was wrong. One of the dishes we ordered was fried tofu, around $9, but they typed another tofu dish on the bill which was around $17. None of us were familiar with the menu, we went to the cashier to confirm with the waiter, he didnt even looked at the bill and he said its correct. So we asked the waitress again and she said she wasnt sure (not sure? lol). The kitchen made the right dish, why would it be wrong on the bill! We got refunded at the end, but seriously I WIll NEVER GO BACK!
The server mistakenly gave our food to the table next to us, it was on their table for a while. They told the server, she then moved it to our table instead of making a new one.it was cold!
Requested 8 songs from their Karaoke list and they found just one. Nobody was signing Karaoke cause they couldn t find songs that were listed on their web list. Complete entire joke Karaoke bar. Understand, these songs were listed on their website song list and they still couldn t find them. It s a Karaoke bar and nobody sang all night cause they couldn t play any requests.
Waited 1hr to pick up for take out. Called earlier and said it would be ready in 20 mins but instead waited 1hr to make one dish while other people who came after me got their orders. Very unprofessional and no apology for the wait. This restaurant lacks customer service. House of lechon which is next door has better food and service than this place.
Pork belly was definitely refried, it tasted disgusting. Prices are way too high for what they re worth.
Good food, very tasty! Must support this restaurant!
I got charged 2x for my bill in my visa bill and the manager of this restaurant, Shawn, did not lift a finger to help. Lousy customer service!
Walked in, karaoke was happening of course but was way too loud and certainly didnt sound good. Ate on the patio but all the smokers that smoke by the front made it uncomfortable as I was constantly breathing in what they were putting out. Food was okay, I dont think I would go back
Great food that comes in huge portion. Loved every bite of it. Also love the karaoke atmosphere.
Went there last night for supper. amazing service and good Filipino food.very authentic would recommend
nice place to go for cheap beer, food and karaoke
Best filipino food!!!
Great food, lady mixed up prices..
Great selection of filipino foods! Crispy pata was amazing :)
Great Filipino food and service
The person in the front has no customer service at all smh but otherwise the food is delicious
Unfriendly service. Not great/fresh for take out
Excellent under
First off the staff was very rude called in about my order after an hour and the lady just hang up the phone in my face while talking to her . I called a second time say why did they hang up and they did it again. Finally the food came and it was extra fried you couldnt even chew it . I paid $4.00 for two drinks and I didnt get either drink. The fried rice wasnt even fried rice.
Bad place to order, making people wait whilst giving incorrect amount of food order. Never recommending it to anybody
One of the best Filipino restaurants I have been in Ontario. Friendly staff and delicious food. I highly recommend it.
The food was amazing! Friendly staff and respectful. Celebrated my husbands 60th bday on the first day of patio dining on June 11, 2021 at their newly make over Patio.
Best dine-in spot for Filipino food in the area! Tried almost every restaurant on the street and none of them can compare. Very decent prices for the portion sizes received. Food was absolutely amazing and the staff was helpful and friendly.
Bbq is not charcoal, but its the only one open on the area during Mondays. Service is good. The atmosphere is best as a hangout place during the night instead of a take home Filipino dinner.
I brought my friends for a birthday event and the owner personally came to our table to join in the celebration despite being extremely busy. Her presence made the celebrant and us feel very special. She may not have stayed the whole night (as there were other guests) with us but those few hours were notable. Her personality is unequalled. Never a dull moment with her and always have an instant /permanent smile. The servers were very attentive and pleasant. When things got delayed because of the line up, (this was the first day of the patio opening) they were apologetic and gave us extra food for the wait. That was a pleasant surprise. Quality of food is as always authentic and brought back memories of Manila days.
Excellent place!
Good food, large portion and friendly staff
Great large patio, picnic benches beer was cold food was tradional filling and not over priced.
Honestly...
Very good experience
Extremely slow service. Paper plates and disposable cutlery. Waiter went to smoke near the patio. Food was average but the slow service really brings this down further. Also an instant service fee. I always tip at least 20% but that service fee on top of an extremely disappointing meal really had me pressing $0 on the POS machine. Dont reopen if youre not ready to reopen.
Ugly service. I waited 1 hour 45 minutes for the food but when I paid it was fast.
I go here to get my fav filipino dish...chicken afritada. The prices have gone up though and its pretty expensive...not sure if its worth it anymore...wish they could compensate by giving a bigger portion to justify the increase in price. Wait times can be lllllong.
The food was okay. The service was horrible. They made us eat on paper plates; we never got a water refill and the waitress was inaccessible. Also, the service was absurdly slow. Note: I wasn t even that busy.
If I can give this place a zero I would. Food wasnt really that great but the worst part about this place is how long it takes for you to get your order and finally eat. My friend and I have to wait ridiculously 2 hours to get our food. Never coming back here again thats for sure
Great Food...amazing atmosphere.
DINERS BEWARE. Terrible food. They are the only food restaurant that is open till 12pm. We ordered an isaw sisig that that is over marinated in soy sauce and overcooked till burnt with more soy sauce that rendered it inedible. We informed the waitress and gave us the same food repacked and cold. Avoid the pancit canton as well... unless you like it overcooked and super salty.
The skewers were good and the other dishes were not so good. Good place to have some beer.
Good food
Great place for some late night eats. Food is delicious.
This place slaps!
We go there lots of time during the summer Not super clean but every things else is ok
I love this place
First experience with Filipino food and was quite impressed
Nice atmosphere with outside and inside option with heater. Food is good too
Always a fun place and yummy food
Excellent BBQ. Friendly Owner and staff. Definitely recommend. Will go again for sure.
Food was delicious. Service was good and price was very reasonable.
Marcelina s has been my favourite Filipino restaurant since I could remember. It has been a staple in Little Manila and it stands the test of time. Consistent service and delicious food. The hospitality and friendliness of the owner is something I truly look forward to as well as hearing the hidden karaoke gems of the Filipino community. Marcelina s is a household name when it comes to introducing Filipino food in Toronto. Support this small business that survived the pandemic. They go out of their way to accommodate all diets and allergies - specifically myself who is VEGAN. It is near impossible to find a restaurant that goes out of their way to feed me especially when the traditional Filipino diet is pretty much meat-heavy, but they find a way of filling me up with delicious food.
Marcelina s has also been my preferred restaurant for authentic Filipino cuisine. I recommend it to my clients to dine here mainly for the exceptional tastes and generous portion sizes. Throughout the summer, Marcelina s has offered the best patio in Wilson and Bathurst with delicious bbq. What I love most about Marcelina s is that they are able to make accommodations to my long list of anaphylactic allergies. Cross-contamination is a huge issue for me and here I can communicate my allergies to the restaurant and safely eat food without any second thoughts. Support this long-time small business run by an outstanding woman of the Filipino community.
Worst customer service. Waitress is slow and rude, seems like she hates being there. I would up your hospitality traits because you re lacking in that section. As a filipino restaurant, it s such a shame to miss what we re known for - hospitality and kindness. Hopefully things change because no matter how good the food is, the desire to want to eat it is removed with the lack of proper service.
When it comes to Filipino food, nothing parallels Marcelina s. Everything from the taste, authenticity and price point makes this restaurant infamous on Bathurst and Wilson making it no surprise that it has been operating for many years. This is my second review in just a few days, and the reason for that is because I support small businesses especially one that is run by a powerhouse matriarch. Not sure what the other recent unhappy customers issues were since they actually never explained what happened (isn t that the point of the review?). One could only imagine that the unhappy reviewer clearly thought they had a good singing voice until testing out the karaoke waters here. The karaoke game is a Filipino Olympic sport. Seriously though leave Frank Sinatra s Filipino classic my way to the old Tito sitting in the corner that s his song he can claim. Back to my review at hand - come for the food, stay for the entertainment, tip your server and support this amazing restaurant. Any other reviews that do not explicitly say why they rated this restaurant one star is not genuine and clearly doing it for tsimis . ;) Need further proof? I ll come down and have dinner with you just to prove how this hidden gem is 100% the bomb shall I book us a table Claire R, Harley D, Jon Jon, Ace Sayer, Ermina, Alexandra, B Lanster, Lexa and Ev? They re one of the few restaurants that carefully prepares their food with the utmost attention to allergy and dietary restrictions (restaurants never go out of their way to make their customers happy by making food modifications, but not here at Marcelina s). Hope you re okay with a vegan eating in your presence and if you re an armchair food critic or keyboard warrior (like me lol) then we re gonna all going to have a great time singing Kumbaya together on that karaoke stage whilst discussing how hideous the internet can be when it comes to cancel culture and online bullying. Marcelina s - you re my number one OG Filipino restaurant! xoxo
The owner is very accommodating. We just Love her, will be back soon! Merry Christmas to you Ate Tessie!!!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience. This place has been a staple and go to spot in the North York area. The ambiance is pleasant and gives you a back home vibe. I want to start with the friendliness and cleanliness of the setting I got greeted by the staff who directed me to my table with bilingual comfortability. Now lets get to the menu its amazing how many of my favourite filipino foods they offer I had to try it all! Lets start with the pulutan appetizers for us, I had the lumpiang shanghai the skewers and the sisig I will definitely try other pulutan but i couldnt decide lumpia was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside the sisig was delicious melts in my mouth. Lets move onto my main dishes I had the Palabok the Beef Kaldereta and the Kare Kare. The palabok was succulent the Kaldereta and Kare Kare had tender pieces of meat and sauce that I could just drink. I would highly recommend this place to anybody visiting the North York area as they dont disappoint I will definitely be coming back and cant wait for my next visit. Thank you very much for a pleasant evening and even better meal!
Marcelinas is a staple for whenever I crave filipino food. I ve been to this place many times with colleagues, family and friends. Not once have I had a bad experience here. Staff and owner are friendly and it s just vibes whenever I come here.
Besides good authentic Filipino foods, few thing stands out for me. I looked around and I noticed how patrons are so relaxed and having a good time like theyre sitting in their own home surrounded by good friends. I see the owner, Tessie floating from table to table to exchange a good laugh with everyone. She joins in and sit with patrons like she belongs there. When the previous owner, Rey (Tessies brother) visits, people give him a warm salute and a hug. This family establishment lives on and the family is respected and honoured by the community for their caring and giving character. Charity and generosity runs deep in their hearts. In terms of food, Bangus sisig , pansit, Pompano (fish) Sinigang and of course the BBQ are worth the drive from Markham to North York . We dont just eat; We dance at the Patio like no one is watching. Salsa and Bachata anyone? Cha Cha Cha....
As a mother, I feel the need to express how rude and ridiculous the owner and owners family are. My friends child requested to eat there. He has an EXTREME ALLERGY to peanuts. Once he took a bite of something that is said to NOT HAVE PEANUTS he was feeling uneasy and HAD TO BE RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL. THIS IS NOT OKAY. Once the mother contacted the restaurant multiple times, the owner herself was RUDE telling her that the restaurant was not at fault and practically blaming the mother for feeding her child food from this restaurant. AND TO MAKE IT EVEN WORSE, She goes on here to make her own Google reviews to state that this restaurant is clean and not cross-contaminating food items. ITS NOT HARD TO JUST APOLOGIZE AND OWN UP TO YOUR MISTAKES. As Filipinos, you should be ashamed of yourselves. How dare you try to cover this incident up. A LITTLE BOY REQUESTED YOUR FOOD ON HIS SPECIAL DAY AND YOU GUYS GOT HIM HURT. WHATS WRONG WITH YOU? JUST SAY SORRY AND THATS IT - WHY DO YOU HAVE TO GO THE EXTRA MILE AND TRY TO COVER IT UP.
Marcelinas is a lovely hidden gem. For anybody who wants to go walk into an establishment with consistently delicious food and services than search no more. The hospitality and smiles that the Philippines is known for can be found right here. This is what truly authenticates the genuine experience of dining here. I have never seen an owner work so hard in keeping her customers happy and all the while looking amazing and beautiful. Support your local small businesses especially the hospitality industry who we all know are the essential workers that have been able to normalize our lives during the pandemic.
Been in this Restaurant since they open good food, good service.
Good food nice to hang out with friends
Love this place the service and food was great . I won t stop coming back . Highly recommended Mylene
Marcelinas is my go to when Im craving Filipino comfort food or hosting a party! Love their Tokwat and Baboy, Chicken Tinola, Lumpia Shanghai, Kare Kare, Pancit, Lechon and especially their BBQs sticks just to name a few. Their food is amazing and portions are generous. On top of their delicious food they have an amazing staff, the owner and manager always go above and beyond to make my family and I feel welcomed and at home whenever we eat there or get take out. Best Filipino food in the GTA!
Love love love this place! Their Filipino food is second to none. I love their BBQ sticks, sisig, lechon and pancit, just to name a few of their delicious dishes. Not only is their food amazing but their warm and welcoming atmosphere as well as the amazing service we get every time we go makes it one of our favorite places to eat. I have and would recommend this resto hands down.
I took me a while to post this because I Wanted to give Marcelinas a chance and the benefit of the doubt. On Friday Nov 19th My sons 10 birthday, he asked for Marcelinas Caldereta. We have had it for years with no issues but this time was different. After a long day of soccer we decided to eat at the house because the kids have soccer in the morning. We live less than 5 minutes away from the restaurant and only ordered the caldereta. After one bite Aariah reacted with stomach pain and his throat feeling funny. We called the restaurant and they confirmed there was no peanuts in the food. We took him straight to the hospital where they confirmed he was in anaphylactic shock. He is only allergic to nuts. I called the restaurant a few times after the incident where a lady told me she would have the owner call me and had my information. She did not call. I decided to go there today to get answers where she told me Youre his mother, you should know what your giving him who knows what you have in your house Not an apology or even acknowledging that there might have been cross contamination with the spoons and the Kare Kare. How could my son have an allergic reaction to the only thing he s allergic too when that was literally all he ate. May God bless her conscience and what goes around comes around. In the end she asked me to provide me with my information and told us we are not allowed to eat there. Please share and make aware what kind of owner is behind this business as a fellow kabayan.
This is my absolute first and forever favorite Filipino restaurant in Toronto. The food is always fantastic, the owner and servers are also great, efficient, happy and polite. Plus a purely fun singing in karaoke like no one will judge you. Can t wait to go back here in Marcelinas.
Marcelinas is one of the best Serving Filipino Cruisine, especially the Bbq oh gosh its the best ever,u really fell home.Always order foods out here and we did enjoy our getaway with my friends with the friendly servers and meet some aquintance and we had lots of fun, enjoyed the foods and drinks, especially the Bbq ofcourse. I recommend this restaurant if your looking for delicious Filipino foods.
The best food in town! Outdoor seating is excellent especially in the summer or when the weather is gorgeous. Family friendly restaurant and at night, it s lots of fun environment to dine-in and relax. The owner emphasized that it s not a Peanut free facility.
Marcelinas is the place to be to experience delicious authentic Filipino food, a welcoming family oriented environment and to have the best time with friends and family. Each and every-time I have visited Marcelinas the owner and all the staff never fail to create a personalized and warm experience making it feel like I am part of the community. They take pride in each and every dish they serve and it comes out hot and delicious every time. I recommend Marcelinas to each and every person I know! Reading the previous negative reviews I would absolutely disagree with the hateful comments made - the owner is a loving and caring mother and does not deserve to have negative review made on her restaurant.
This intimate and cozy restaurant is located in the GTA right in the heart of little Manilla, and its definitely worth the trip. The food is always fresh and tasty and the portions are very generous. The service is also very good. The servers are polite, quick and friendly. Anytime I have visited the staff have always made me feel welcome and right at home. This place is so good it has become my go to for Fillipino food. Each time I place an order I try to order a different dish to try something new. Each dish has never disappointed and its always come out smelling great and tasting even better. The Pancit mix is one of my favourites. I have also taken a liking to the bbq pork and crispy pata. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to other restaruants in the area, if not better. You cant go wrong with this place. If you are looking to change up your take out routine or want to dine in, you should give Marcelinas a try. You wont be disappointed!
This spot constantly delivers. They serve fresh dishes for fair prices, there is no waiting time even when they are busy. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good Filipino food. My Filipino friends recommended it to me and it has been awesome! I come from a greek household and this place has me hooked on Filipino food!
Best bbq in the city, favorite spot for karaoke!
Must try: Sisig bangus!
It was a lot of fun coming here. And food is delicious
The best place to sing. Youll sound Good on the microphone. No other Filipino karaoke bar have the best sound system in Toronto
Karaoke was so fun
It was a good place to hang out, good sounds of kareoke, good food, friendly staff
Great Food!
Their food is good. A bit pricey but what restaurant isnt? On weekends is packed, hard to walk in between tables coz there is literally no space. Overcrowded by law its illegal coz in case of fire or Emergency. Well you know what that means. But overall people seem to love going there.
Went there for a quick dinner and enjoyed the BBQ and fried rice. Great people and fantastic food.
Hungry?
Good place for relaxation and bonding with firends and family!
All the food we ordered taste great which deserves a 5star though service is kinda slow that we had to wait for almost an hour before we got our orders on the table which is kinda sad especially when everyone is hungry.
Some confusion finding the server but after that, everything was good
Wow what a treasure fantastic food and staff that makes you feel like family. Pricing outstanding keep it up guys!
Terrible customer service. If I could give them a zero star, I would. We went there to eat but surprisingly there was no one in the store to welcome the guests. I guess they are not that very welcoming and hospitable. They dont allow dine in, but we ordered for take out. The staff who took our order sounded like she was upset that we still went for a take out order. When we got our bill, we were surprised about the price. We took our receipt, and wow!!! They charged us 10% more for take out orders. Not to mention that they did not give the right amount of our change. So, they charge people 10% more on top of the 13% tax even though it was for take out orders and they didnt even do anything. LOL plus the missing $2 change. Wow! I would be pleased to give them a tip IF THEY ARE ACTUALLY NICE AND IF THEY OFFER A GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE BY EVEN SMILING AND BE NICE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS BUT THEY DIDNT. DIDNT EVEN TRY LOL. never ever going back to this place again
Outside patio was very cold
Amazing authentic food, relaxing atmosphere, and awesome service. I will definitely return.
Great
