Classic French fare served up in a cozy, elegant space adorned with impressionist art.
Fist time going there and must say, it was a pleasant experience. The staff are super friendly, in a good way, not pushy. The atmosphere was pretty nice as it's a cozy, somewhat elegant experience. The food was well cooked, very delicious and reasonably priced. Brought a girlfriend there, she claims the same as the evening was enjoyable from start to finish. Would go back again...
Nestled in an old, classy building, Le Montmartre is a cozy gem that dazzles with its culinary delights. The liver in wine is a masterpiece, showcasing the chef's skill in balancing flavors. The grouper is another standout, cooked to tender perfection. Along with the inviting ambiance, the attentive service adds to the charm of this delightful dining spot. A visit here promises not just a meal, but an experience worth savoring.
Went here for a birthday, it was super quiet on a Thursday evening but got busier as the night progressed. There’s hot bread for the table to start, which we ended up using for the pate as the crostini was so crunchy it would break because the pate needed more effort to spread. Duck and mussels were great. They always do a classic presentation. The proteins are the real star of the meal, veggies are just good. The liver as part of the mains was sold out so we didn’t get to try it although it was on our list.
A celebrated an important day here! The atmosphere is very classic, clean and elegant. The service was very warm, friendly and helpful. We tried the liver and the duck. The duck was our favorite. The liver was also very good (if you like liver- I didn't realize how rich it would be). The veggies that came on the side were very bland though. I don't think I will be back but would still recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants to try and enjoy French cuisine. We had the escargots as well - they were alright. Honestly, I think anything cooked in butter and garlic would taste good, snails probably wouldn't be my first choice again though.
Came for dinner on a Wednesday night, the restaurant was quiet but great atmosphere over all. The staff is friendly and attentive! The food was very good, I ordered the frog legs and my friend the fish fillet. I loved my frog legs and my friend said her food was very tasty. Looks like a great place for dates!! Definitely worth checking this place out.
A homey feel French restaurant. No fancy decor, washroom is located downstairs (not accessible by wheelchair). Food is above average but lack sophisticated presentation. French onion soup taste great and comes very hot. But for $16.95, size is a bit small. Escargot is very average, I won’t reorder next time. Mussels are not bad but won’t reorder either. The sauce is worth dipping with bread but the mussels texture and size is not desirable. We ordered 2 main dish to share. They clear out our appetizer plates, send us the main dish but we have no plates and utensils. Waited awhile for the plates to come which affects the temperature of the food. Duck is tender and flavourful. Lamb chop taste great and i will reorder again. Juicy and cooked to perfection.
Had a really delightful dinner at Montmartre. It was a weeknight so it was relatively quiet, but the service and food were still excellent. The soup of the day was velvety and refined. The mussels came with an atypically thick cream sauce that was delicious. The entrees were fantastic as well. I look forward to coming back!
Delicious foods and good prices! Had shared appetizer, soup, main dish and dessert for around $50 before tax and tips. The dessert menu is told by spoken, and names in French. It made me have to ask for repeat the menu again. But they’re really good!
Had my birthday celebration here, it s a cute place, love the cozy and artistic vibe. Good service. Food is good quality and reasonably priced. Would recommend and definitely will be coming back.
Atmospheric restaurant. Quiet calm atmosphere. Nice staff. But be careful, the prices do not always correspond to the quality, just as the name does not correspond to the classic recipes. LOBSTER BISQUE soup was served. It does not match the description of such a recipe. You wont see a single piece of lobster on the plate. It looks like they used concentrate. I don t recommend ordering anything here in hopes of quality. Parking: Parking is three spaces in front of the building and about 10 in the back. Comfortable. There are gas stations nearby.
Best steak I ever had in Toronto. The red wine Pinot Noir is highly recommended! Reasonable price for the food and services we got. You shouldnt miss this lovely restaurant. Food : 5/5 |
Amazing place
One of the best places you can enjoy a great food and atmosphere.
This is definitely a neighborhood hidden gem and my favorite French restaurant in the GTA area. I love French food. And I am a dine and wine person who lives on food. The Le Montmartre remains the top of my dining lists even after I have tried many fine dining restaurants at Toronto, Vancouver, Orlando, New York, Niagara Falls, to name just a few. I will highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for fine dining experience with fresh and tasty food, artistic and cozy sitting environment, and quite affordable price. Vegetarian options: I went with a vegetarian friend at one time. There were quite a few vegetarian options for her. She was amazed about the freshness and tasty of the food served there. Parking: There are ample free parkings right behind the restaurant.
BEST Duck à l orange I ve had. And I looovve duck.
Delicious spot! Small on the outside, but very roomy inside! And elegant.
Hands down the best filet mignon Ive ever had in my life! I love Le Montmarte; every time Im in Toronto, this restaurant is a must-visit. The staff is very professional and friendly. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. Highly recommend!!!
I went to Le Montmartre with a few friends and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. From the appetizers to dessert, I enjoyed everything we tried. I had the French onion soup and rack of lamb, and I have to say it was one of the best meals Ive had. My friend tried the carrot soup and escargot (and let me try some), all of which was also excellent. Ill definitely come back for any special occasion I want to share with loved ones!
Terrible service. Food smelled. Taste suck. Staff a little racist
Service was below expectations. Was hoping to get quality customer service but was very disappointed appointed. Wait time was long and there was a rat! The food was average. Better off spending your money elsewhere
I recently drove an hour on the highway to dine at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we urgently needed to use the restroom, so we quickly headed there. While in the ladies room, a gentleman knocked on the door and rudely entered without waiting for a response. He snapped his fingers and insisted we leave immediately because we hadnt asked for permission to use the restroom first. Despite explaining that we simply needed to relieve ourselves after the long drive, he snapped his fingers again and barked OUT at us, treating us as if we were second-class citizens. The manner in which we were addressed was not only humiliating but also highly degrading. This encounter left us feeling embarrassed and deeply disrespected. I had been looking forward to dining at this establishment, but after such an experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend it. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of basic courtesy is unacceptable, and I will be sharing my experience with others to caution them about this place.
We were a group of women who wanted to get a meal because we heard good things about this French restaurant. The staff was rude from when we entered, which was strange. Our host was a male but we also received the same treatment from another staff member called Rihanna. Seemed like we weren t welcome in the restaurant from the onset. We were treated below average and after a round drinks, we decided to leave the establishment. Please take caution before booking this restaurant.
I wish I could give the service more stars. We went to this restaurant on Wednesday for my wifes birthday. Everything was superb especially the price and the service. With the high prices these days, our bill was very reasonable. We were served by Nima who recommended us with great options. We will definitely go back.
Past many times, finally had a reason to come for dinner. Food was well prepared and presented, staff was friendly, and attentive. Will be back Food : 5/5
Nice and cozy. Its one of my favorite restaurants!
2$ teen burger. Ready when I got there and was warm. No issues. Good time.
My new favourite!! Every bite was delicious , if you want to be taken to Paris for a few hours go visit!! Wanted to try everything, if you like fine dining you will love it. Mussels were divine , Lobster Bisque soooo good, Rack of Lamb amazing!! Just naming a few . Service excellent, you will be well taken care of. Great French wine!!
It s really delicious! Homemade salad and snails are super fresh! ! ! The daily special cream of chive soup really shocked me! Very delicious! No weird taste at all! It blends very well I highly recommend everyone to try it!
Good place for French food. It feels a bit dated, but the execution of food is solid. Service was a bit slow when I was there. The menu was very well priced.
I have recently had dinner here as per many recommendations. The food is absolutely divine and I enjoyed my experience there. I had the French onion soup, mussels and creme brulee. The mussels are a must as they are quite good. I gave them 4 stars because of the awful smell at the entrance. It s like sewage or broken toilet . It lingered around till I got my ordered food. And you can smell it throughout. The food aroma covers part of it. I am really interested in returning back But I hope the bad smell issue gets resolved. And I hope it was a one time thing and not something permanent in the building.
I had a wonderful time here.
Very beautiful environment, amazing people,Lena was the best server Ive ever met. Thank you. We will come back for any special occasions that deserve such a great experience. Thank you Lena :)
Loved everything
I hadn t been to La Montmartre since before Covid-19. This restaurant has stood the test of time. They get five stars for the service, the food and the ambiance. Food : 5/5
30 years ago, the first year of our marriage, my wife and I ate at Le Montmarte. We were just starting out on our life together and this was an extravagant and rare outing for us back then. The food was delicious! My wife and I went to France for our honeymoon and love French food and wine. For our 30th anniversary, we decided to re-visit the restaurant. It seemed to make sense...rather than going to a restaurant that didnt have quite the same history for us. The evening was amazing! The manager, Riana, knew it was a special night for us and she was amazing with the service. The food was, once again, delicious and amazing! My wife is a pure vegetarian from birth ( no meat, seafood, or animal products etc). Her meal was excellent. Im the opposite and thoroughly enjoyed all the tasty foods ( escargot, lamb etc etc). The service, ambiance and food is excellent! Thank you everyone at Le Montmarte for making the evening so special for us!
Terrific diamond in the rough
Le Montmartre was on my list and wanted to try few times and the moment we stepped in the homely ambiance abd attentive set the perfect tone for a great dining experience. The food was delicious, the freshness of ingredients was tasted on every bite. The service was impeccable forgot the servers name but she was truly fantastic, we were celebrating my wifes birthday and the server took noticed which was very generous of her. $$$$ PP/Avg Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atomosphere: 5/5
We took our brother here for his 59th birthday! I had been here 43 years prior but none of our other guests had been here! What a treat!! Everything was fantastic...the service - impeccable, the food - outstanding and the whole feel of the experience was truly French! We will be returning whenever we feel like a wonderful dining experience! Please try this restaurant if you want the whole package!! 5 stars from all of us!
Had an amazing meal here tonight. Superb service, food (apps inc.) were excellent and the restaurant itself has a nice ambience. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience (ps the veal was delicious). Will definitely return one day.
The atmosphere and service was great. I couldnt agree much with the food. The French Onion Soup and the escargot were good. Lobster bisque was very salty. The vegetables served on the side are flavorless and bland. The texture is similar to microwaved, frozen vegetables. I wanted the rack of lamb but apparently they were out of lamb. It was a slow night, probably 5 tables in total. I have a hunch the kitchen just didnt want to serve lamb that night. Less cleaning to do at closing. The duck was terribly dry. The sauce was disgustingly sweet. Barely touched it. The liver was decent. Wouldnt order again. I wouldnt visit again actually. I was excited finding out about this restaurant as I live 5 minutes away. I wouldnt have to drive so far for decent food. Unfortunately... I was disappointed. Maybe Ill visit again to try the grouper and the rack of lamb. Bill came out to a little under 200 for two people. Tipped 15%. Went home and cooked instant noodles to get the taste out my mouth.
Called in over two weeks ago to book a reservation for valentines. Confirmed with a lady for the day, but forgot my time slot. Called in to check when i was supposed to come in for and theres no reservation. Not under my name or my phone number. Absolutely disappointing for an especially important day.
One of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in my entire life. Servers made me feel invisible. people who came 30 mins after us was served first because they got up to flag the servers. Service was so bad I had to walk out after 50 mins of waiting. They don t seem to be very organized in the 50 mins we were there all they did was clean tables and kept seating people without serving them. As we were walking out , the servers saw us leave and they did not seem to care.
Good
Goof
Good
Maaagnificent. Impeccable service!
Maybe my expectation was too high but food was decent. Don t think I would go back. We ordered the steak and Lamb and they were overcooked first time. We told the waitress and recooked the dish but came out as almost blue. Waitress was really nice about it but I guess Chef was having a bad day. Best thing was french onion soup but nothing too special.
I have been coming here for over 20 years and haven t been back in a few years. Found out the restaurant was sold and it s not the same owners anymore and as my husband said you feel there is no love in the food anymore. The rack of lamb is a staple here and in order I guess to lower food costs have changed to frozen New Zealand lamb. When the previous owners would never have used anything less than fresh ontario lamb. The service was great but for the prices and the little extra costs that are now for everything the food is not at the level anymore. It s very sad after so many years to see another special restaurant change and lose its spark.
Fantastic service! Absolutely delicious food!!! Fresh, hot and mouth watering A little hidden gem!!!
Perfectly cooked, huge scallops. Divine creme brulee.
i liked it,like home
Beautiful place - it s usually fairly quiet during the weekday lunch hour. Nice food, good service
The menu was varied, the waitress and waiters were very helpful when choosing from the menu, the food was exquisite and the atmosphere inside the French restaurant was perfect. A great place to go to be dined and wined.
Le Montmartre is a charming and cozy French restaurant in Toronto that offers a variety of dishes from traditional to modern cuisine. The service is friendly, attentive and prompt, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of a Parisian bistro with paintings by Van Gogh and Renoir on the walls and music by Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour playing in the background. I started with the French onion soup, which was rich and cheesy, and followed with the filet of sole meunière, which was tender and flavorful. The portion sizes were generous and the presentation was elegant. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, which was creamy and caramelized to perfection. The wine list was extensive and well-curated, featuring selections from different regions of France. I opted for a glass of Chablis, which paired well with my fish dish. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I would highly recommend Le Montmartre to anyone looking for a romantic and authentic French dining experience in Toronto. It is a hidden gem that deserves more recognition. Bon appétit!
The food was absolutely delicious, the service great. A beautiful meal and experience. Parking: Easy parking at the front (a few spots, lots more parking at the rear.
They actually change for the worst:( It was an amazing restaurant but now it is just over price joint:(maybe the chief is not really French??? Even coffee is mediocre now:(
Love this classic dining spot! Its a rare gem! Food is delicious! Service wonderful! Nothing has changed from the 80s! Tables are not jammed one on top of the other. Can actually carry a conversation with the people you are seated with without screaming! Food : 5/5
The place is overpriced for the quality. The special carrot soup the size of a small appetizer was $22. Really? The soup was good tho. Deserts are also overpriced and nothing really special. The main dish - duckling was dry dry dry. The orange sauce was sour. Recommended dishes Escargots
I liked the authenticity of the place. The servers all greet you in French and throw in a bit of french here and there which definitely makes the experience more exciting. However, I found the attention from staff a little slow. The escargots app was decent but I had a small bit of its shell that got in my mouth - probably had to be cleaned more thoroughly. The carrot cream soup was outstanding, but quite overpriced. I ordered the duck and it was underwhelming, a bit dry and not memorable enough for me to want to go back for it again.
Delicious!
We have been going here for over 18 years and I have never changed my order. French onion soup, escargot, frog legs and profiteroles to finish. Absolutely the best French food in the city.
Service and food is excellent will definitely be back Parking: Parking is limited
Just go. Take it from a Chinese-Canadian who lives in Montreal and speaks French with French waiters.....the chefs here know how to deliver quality, home-cooked like French fare. Highly recommended.
A hidden gem
Consistently delicious food and I ve been going there for over 25 years now. Best French cuisine in Toronto!! Highly recommend
This restaurant absolutely exceeding my expectations. Im a French teacher and I brought 2 of my grade 6 classes for a French dining experience. The service, the food, the ambiance was absolutely spectacular. My students absolutely loved everything especially the staff greeting and speaking French to them the whole time. The set menu for our field trip was amazing and affordable, the students spent the entire month of June talking about how delicious the meal was. I wanted to extend my huge appreciation and mille merci, to the entire staff of Montmatre, I will definetely come back with my own family and I will definetely bring my students again. Thanks again for the amazing food, service and for the memories my students will have for a lifetime
Very expensive, but a wonderful experience.
I ordered a simple soup because I wasnt hungry. It turns out that simple soup was really good! A real French restaurant never disappoints
Wouldnt Return This is a homely locals favourite that serves a staple focused menu of the classics like duck, onion soup, fresh escargot and pate. Steak is a disappointment for the price in terms of both quality and quantity. Lack of finesse on sides of vegetables and mushroom makes the burden for the steak to be too heavy to bear. Poor char/grill, sauce is generic, mushroom adds nothing special. Flavourful, but nothing special. Duck was dry and was overcooked. Duck is naturally fatty, so when you over do it, it becomes dry and fried. Flavours were complementary with the fruit. Average. Pate was flavourful but the random lettuce and tomato feels like an afterthought. More thought can be put into the crouton to make the homemade pate standout more. Average. Onion soup was actually really good and I definitely recommend this. Lots of cheese, good crust, thick flavourful blended soup. House Italian wine was easy drinking and recommended not too dry, not sweet. Did 2 bottles of house wine between 4. Roughly 100pp which makes it kind of expensive for what you get. Takes AMEX. Parking at rear.
Ive passed by this restaurant many times and wondered why have they been around for as long as they have. Well, now I can say I know why. Everything about this place is excellent. From the food to the service, just top-notch. I highly recommend this place and Ill be back.
Excellent restaurant! The food was superb start to finish. The most friendly staff, perfect for dates, birthdays, anniversaries! Just loved it!
A deeply disappointing restaurant. The service was excellent at first, but the main dishes took a 1+ to be brought out. French onion soup was good, but the artichoke salad oh my god. You can get a better salad at a gas station. It had fridge-cold artichokes, lettuce and 2 grape tomatoes. It was DRENCHED in sauce that tasted like Ceasar salad dressing. It was gross. Finally they brought out the main course. One of the dishes the scallops - was fine. Pretty good texture, but average overall. However, the steak, ordered medium rare, came out medium well done. I reluctantly sent it back as I m not paying $45 for a poorly cooked steak but I also hate wasting food. The replacement came out RARE, but it was so UNEVENLY cooked that it made me question the chef s skills - either he didn t rest it at all or the pan he used was old and overused. With the price you pay to go out at a restaurant these days, you expect to enjoy your meal - at the very least. This restaurant left me deeply disappointed and grossed out. Might be one of the worst steaks I ve EVER had.
Amazing place, fresh food
Le montmartre French Restaurant is my favorite. the foods are excellent , the prices are good, the Atmosphere and services are so great. the best place to spend the time with your loved one.
Beautiful and authentic French restaurant with 20th century decor and ambiance. We ordered the duck, the liver and escargots. All were extremely delicious! Will definitely be back.
Great tasting French cuisine in an unassuming location and venue. Went for lunch with my parents. We all had the 3-course lunch menu and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Food : 5/5
Wonderful French food and super staff
Great place. Foid service all excellent. Never dissapoint.
Great food and lovely staff!
This is honestly a gem of a restaurant and it almost feels like a hidden treasure. The previous owner was wonderful and ran the restaurant well. The new owners are just as great and the food is still authenticity French. The atmosphere is upper scale but not stuffy. It s a great place to conduct a business meeting in peace since the crowd it attracts is generally respectful as well as classy. The food is wonderful with large portions. The fish and the pasta dishes are my favourite.
Great service
It is a beautiful place with a lot of nice paintings. The layout of the restaurant is wonderful, with three distinctive dining rooms. But the food, service and atmosphere do not match with the pricing. If you are willing to pay $300+ for a dinner of two and mainly to admire the interior design, I will recommend it strongly. If you come for food, atmosphere, and service, I would say you may want to re consider. Only the mushroom soup was especially good. The squash soup, steak and fish we ordered were very common but very generous in quantity, neither of us could finish the entree. We waited for our main course for over 30 minutes when there were only 4 tables for the whole night and total guests number was 11. The overall taste of food was simply common, you could get it at 1/3 of the price in a decent restaurant. The roles of hostess, server, busser, bartender, sommelier, general manager were played by one person. I didnt know they didnt have a bartender so I ordered a $14 coffee which was a very wrong decision after I saw and tasted the outcome. Among the other three tables, one was at a work trip, so the group spoke very loud. Another group was celebrating a birthday. They put up a cellphone on a tripod base on the floor next to their table and started taking video of their eating, with a bright ring light on top shining the whole dining room :(. I couldnt believe my eyes. They also used cellphone flash light to read the menu which went all directions :( and really shed a light to the supposed-to-be-delicate dining atmosphere). Surprisingly, the third table couple showed great admiration of their recording act. Anyway, paying the same price as David Duncan, Auberge du Pommier, I am sorry but I did expect something better than that. Will not go back.
Le Montmartre was the perfect setting for our staff holiday party. The room was quaint, and the acoustics perfect for being able to have conversations with everyone at the table. The food was truly delicious -- from the carrot ginger soup to the duck a lorange, the veal in a mushroom madeira sauce, filet of grouper, all paired with seasonal vegetables, all 18 of us licked our plates clean. The food was only outdone by the excellent service where wine glasses and waters were filled all night and staff remained attentive. What a truly wonderful experience. We will be back.
I wish I could give Le Montmartre 6 stars! The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Especially considering the portions. We hosted our staff party there and everyone gave it rave reviews. The ambience is very nice and the service was fantastic. I cant recommend Le Montmartre enough. Well certainly be going back.
We were looking for a quiet place with good food. This place delivered and the service was excellent. I had the rack of lamb - delicious. Dietary restrictions: Its a French restaurant so gluten-free was a challenge but they made a plan and the plan was delicious. Parking: We were early so had plenty of off-street parking and ended up right outside the front door.
Our go-to restaurant for a nice date night for 22 years and counting. We enjoy it every single time.
Ordered for Christmas Eve. Fantastic!!
Amazing place, hands down a gem of a restaurant. Food was spectacular, we had the leek soup (soup du jour) and escargot to start. The waiter was very attentive and paid great detail to placing the dishes with minimal splashing (soup).. small detail but greatly appreciated. The mains were the grouper and the veal tenderloin, very tasty as well. Id come back for the soup and grouper for sure. Price was also extremely reasonable for the quality of food and service.
The food is prepared with a lot of love and the service was excellent. Looking forward to celebrating more special events here.
If you didnt have to step outside of Le Montmartre and see Sheppard Avenue, then you would definitely think youre in a neat little French restaurant tucked away in some secret lane in Paris. The atmosphere was one with a quaint Parisian aesthetic. The smaller spaces livens the place up in quite the Old European fashion. Le Montmartre serves you fine French cuisine, soft French jazzy music and service that would delight not only your tastebuds but saves your wallet. The prices were more than reasonable! The food was mightily palatable. This place is the perfect occasion for an intimate dinner with someone special, or bringing friends and family along for an experience and taste to savor for as long as you can remember.
Very bad experience. Food was extremely salty and service was not as good as expected. Asked for some bread for 2 times and it was served slowly. After telling the servers about the salty food, nothing was done.
The food was delicious, the service was excellent and I loved the ambience. Its a really classic restaurant, in my opinion its one of the gems of Toronto.
Excellent food in a cozy atmosphere. Good portions and reasonable prices. Slow service
Very good delicious food and good ambience!!!
Excellent restaurant!
This was my first time visiting Le Montmarte after hearing about it for so long. I was finally able to visit, and they did an excellent job on everything. The French onion soup, rack of lamb, and exotic cake was a great dinner. I cant wait to make my next reservation for their steak!
The food was scrumptious and the staff was very friendly and paid utmost attention to the needs of the customer.
Le Montmartre is an absolutely amazing experience. Not only is the food exceptional, but the staff are incredible and so friendly. The atmosphere is warm, beautiful and intimate. My fiancé and I have been coming here every year on our anniversary since 2016 and just last week we came to celebrate a surprise proposal on the night we got engaged! They made this special night one to remember for a lifetime. We love coming here every year and always look forward to a delicious meal accompanied by great service. Our family was extremely happy!
French cuisine at its best- beautiful presentation and the food melts in your mouth - and the service was outstanding !!
A few photos i took of my daughters surprise proposal from her now fiance. The restaurant staff were amazing during a Toronto snowstorm, the food dishes were spectacular ( i had the pasta primavera ) The staff were patient, professional and a go to spot for my daughter and her fiance
The food, staff and, service are just phenomenal. If I could give them a 10, I definitely would in a heart beat.
The staff let me and my date stay well beyond closing hours just because they wanted us to have a good time. Really sweet!
I m French and even I was impressed
excellent food and service!
Wow. The food and the service was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be going back there.
One of a very true authentic French resturants in the Toronto area my only real beef is the French onion soup very small given what I paid for.the service tre magnificent.overall good experience.
Oh my God! Had the bone marrow starter and also the steak and bone marrow tacos, I died and went to heaven. This is how it ends and I am happy! Jair was our waiter and he was top notch with his service. Will never forget this dinner! Thank you!!!
First time dining there. Lobster bisque velvety and smooth , rack of lamb, profiteroles...Even butter had this great taste I couldnt refuse. Perfect birthday dinner!! Definitely going back!
Great food, nice atmosphere
Very nice atmosphere and since i came to Canada 4 years, for the first time i enjoyed thoroughly experience in restaurant. Food was amazing and cozy atmosphere not comparable to any other restaurant i have been to. 6 stars
Beautiful and cozy resturant feels like Im at home
Lovely experience. Place was a bit bare in French flare but the food was very good.
This restaurant is truly a diamond. The food is authentic and excellent. The ambience is unlike any other and will leave you coming back for more! It is a romantic and warm setting that truly whisks you away into the boulevards of France.
Ordered food for birthday selebration. Food was really fantastic, and friendly people as well! Will order again, and once its possible will visit them for sure! After first visit a year ago, we went there again to celebrate birthday. Was amazing as usual, cozy atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, delicious food with an accent on every detail. Highly recommend, will return back again and again!
We had dinner here and ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees that totalled about $130 before tip and this is probably one of the worst meals weve ever eaten. The meal started with a decent french onion soup and went downhill from there. We ordered the caesar salad which was made up of lettuce, bacon bits from a bag, powdered cheese, and dressing from a bottle. For $15 we expected higher standards for a small salad. We also ordered a disappointing pate which sat on a couple pieces of romaine lettuce and was served with only 2 small pieces of crusted bread. Our appetizers were followed by the two entrees which were the most disappointing part of the whole meal. The grouper was obviously cooked from frozen and topped with what seemed like salsa from a jar. This was accompanied by boiled, unseasoned beans, carrots, and another mushy unrecognizable vegetable. The worst item we had was the duck. It was obviously frozen previously, very dry and tasteless but the worst part was the sweet orange sauce that was poured over it that made it inedible. Again it was served with a side of boiled vegetables. Overall the food was terrible and i would not eat here ever again.
Over 1.5 hour waiting for meal terrible experience you will not get service that is good here.
Used to be family owned and operated was amazing. New owners come in and food is horrible, waited 2 hours for raw meat, waited 20 min Just to get waters and another 20 min for the bread. This used to be a Comfy place to come with the family and is sadly no longer that. Prices are way beyond the quality of the food. Stay away
Amazing place for dining. Great quality with friendly atmosphere.
Phenomenal classic, little French spot. Probably the best duck a lorange Ive had outside of France. I hadnt been in years and apparently the ownership has changed but everything is as good as I remember. Definitely worth the trip to North York if youre downtown and looking for excellent traditional French dishes.
Excellent restaurant. The grouper entree was great. Great veggies and appies. Staff prompt, great venue. Great value. Will be going agin soon.
The food was decent but not great. Ambiance lacking. Staff cannot cater to food allergies very well.
I must say one of the best French restaurants in Toronto! The food was so tasty and delicious! The service was magnificent! It s an amazing place to host your private events! Highly recommend this place!
This was my second visit with my family. As before , food was excellent, staff was incredibly Friendly and professional. Definitely a place to be a la Francaise. Bravo chef .
best
Celebrated my 20th anniversary here! It was the perfect place to do so or any other important occasions. Food was excellent! Service was the best!
Excellent food and good value. Good wine selection also...we found a great choice very quickly. We didnt have enough room for dessert - perhaps next time. There were a lot of interesting choices for mains on the menu. Our waiters were very attentive and friendly. Definitely worth a repeat visit. P.s. look for parking in the back as well as the front.
Excellent French dining experience. Great wine, delicious food and good portions.
Nice delicious place.
Place was a bit too cold No heat. Was not pleased the sole was in an egg batter
Amazing experience every time I go there. Authentic best French cuisine in Toronto. Very cautious and knowledgeable staff. Best French onion soup, lobster bisque is to die for, incredible frog legs, beef liver melts in your mouth, creme brulee is out of this world... Even their bread tastes awesome! It is made right there. The interior is very cute and vintage: tres charment. The place owners are so very accommodating and friendly.
Glorious French food with great atmosphere. Starters and mains are fantastic. Desserts seem to be purchased frozen from outside so give those a pass...
Very yummy French onion soup Rack of lamb > duck Food
The food was really delicious - seafood, meat, soup were cooked perfectly. The Tiramisu was not tasty. But. I don t want to come to this place again, because it is sooo old-fashion (in a bad way). I mean, the interior, the music, serving the dish, so outdated.
Today I checked into Le Montmartre, a small traditional French family restaurant. The food is quite good. The cream onion soup, snails and foie gras are all delicious. Unfortunately, the internet celebrity orange duck breast is only available for dinner. I will leave it for a while. Well... [bad laugh]
Very nice French restaurant. The atmosphere transports us immediately and we feel at home. . Eating it is divine
Excellent food, wine and service. This one of our familys favorite restaurants
Like this place very much.
Service is subpar and very slow and the workers werent very attentive! Took 10 mins to be seated and placed at the worst table then it took 20 mins for the water to come and a full hour for the food that wasnt that good! Definitely not returning and wouldnt recommend for anybody!
Food is very tasty but atmosphere and service outdated.
Food is very average. any french cuisine from Quebec would be better than this. Good service and dining setting. Honestly, i am only giving the stars for service and setting.
One of my favourite restaurants! Awesome food, and very friendly and helpful staff! Would 100% recommend!
Beautiful french cuisine in an unexpected part of town. The waitress was so accommodating. My partner and I could not be happier with the food and service.
OUTSTANDING!
Service was excellent tonight. The Frog legs were an experience worth having, escargot & lobster bisque to start were amazing and my wifes orange duckling leftovers and the desert was so good it left us in an excited anticipation for our next visit. Prices and portions were also exceptional compared to every other French restaurant I have ever been too.
Moderate prices, good food, service was good until she got another table (then there were two and apparently that was too much lol). I would go back, nice romantic setting in an old house.
Absolutely fantastic food. Everything was really well-made, and the inside of the restaurant is really beautiful. Great service, too.
It is a fabulous restaurant that you can taste new delicious meals with a fair price. Very good staff as well. I fully recommend this restaurant.
Very good experience in the past.
Bad customer service the waitress was rude. Never coming back.
A must go in Toronto! The food is special, all of the meals tasted like heaven, everything was just perfect! The place makes us feel like we are in France, the music, the hospitality If you ever crave French food, this is the right place to be!
Excellent supper! The French Onion was cheesy, delicious, and came out piping hot. The lamb and veal were cooked perfectly. The best part was the desserts, a tiramisu that was just very nice and light. The Profiteroles fill with vanilla ice cream was beautiful. As for atmosphere, my lady friend found the place very charming and love the paintings on the walls. The service was just right.
Loved the food! High professional service, thank you!
I had delicious scallops and my wife had duck, also delicious. Classic French offerings. Very friendly server.
Good service. Excellent French onion soup, escargot, fish. Meat could use more spice. Definitely coming back.
Excellence personified.
Great apps. Lovely family vibe restaurant. Great steak and lambchops
Great food and ambience
Excellent service and amazing food. Highly recommend!!
Service was great and food was great! Cannot find a flaw!
This is a cute small French bistro type Alatmosphere which was was great. We did not have a reservation which is suggested but they were more than accomodating. The food was excellent as well. The French onion soup, lobster bisque, escargot and lamb chops are a must try!!! Will be going back for sure
If youre looking for flavorful authentic french food, you must check this place out. Ive been ordering food here for years and theres nothing quite like it! The food is EXACTLY like what I remember when I lived in France. The food is just incredibly delicious and satisfying, fresh and homemade is the best way I can describe it. Nothing here tastes artificial and thats sooo hard (for me anyway) to find.
Fabulous place for truly authentic French food from scratch! Wonderful for special celebrations. Fantastique!!!
My wife took me there for my birthday--exquisite food and attentive wait staff who do not hover. Superb cook! Caters to allergies easily and imaginatively. Will certainly return.
Booked a reservation for nine over the phone for tonight about a week ago. Spoke to a lady who confirmed. Today we got there for my Mom s birthday and they had absolutely no idea who we were. My party included 2 seniors who flew in from out of the country and my brother with autism. We travelled about an hour to get there and were extremely disappointed to hear that our reservation wasn t written down. The restaurant could not accommodate us and it was a shame. We were left scrambling to find another place to eat on a Saturday night. Felt terrible for my Mom who was really looking forward to this.
Pâté, escargots, liver and duck, all outstanding!
Authentic french restaurant in Toronto!! Who would have known
Excellent food!
What wonderful experience! Enjoyed lunch. Great service, very polite and attentive. Warm, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Le Montemarte is a lovely French restaurant in North York. The food is authentically French and made in a very traditional French style with classic techniques and very French flavors. Staff are lovely and the owner is very approachable. The atmosphere is as if you are dining in someones home for the night (its very quaint).
Really charming atmosphere! The food is always excellent.
The menus is true French. The food is always top notch as well as the service...
The food was fairly good but not great. Service was acceptable, but did not fit the price tag of the dinner.
Great food and customer service
Amazing experience every time I go there. Authentic best French cuisine in Toronto.
Amaxing food and great atmosphere. Wish it was open now. We really miss it.
great rest!!! Great service!!!
After many years of living in the Bordeaux region of France i have never had authentic food from France in the many countries i have visited. This restaurant not only has the best French food outside of France but the ambience is authentic. Little secret also the price was more than reasonable. I shall definitely be returning. Bien Fait et Merci!
Service was very good. Thank you Klavdia. Restaurant interior needs refreshing, at least the carpet. Food - 3 course lunch meal. None of the dishes wowed us. Food tastes average with a bit too much salt. Use of sauce, that looks like gravy, should be reconsidered. (Chef Ramsey would have been swearing at the application of sauce). Dont feel like we got the value for the money. Cheers!
Had An amazing time and delicious food
Amazing food and incredible service !
We enjoyed dining here - their French dishes are delicious and their pastas are some of my favourite
