Contemporary and authentic Indian food from The Host Hospitality Group - est. 1995
I’ve had the pleasure of an annual Christmas with friends dinner here. The chef is amazing, the ambiance, the food, the service, all top notch. I certainly recommend this. Lobster was my favourite, so many other dishes that are just incredible. This is the place to be, don’t miss it just go!
Amazing food and service. They took us as walk ins on busy Sunday night. Everything was fresh and hot and homemade. Flavours were bursting through. Each dish different. Not a sea of the same hot spice. Would come back.
Great place to take family and the summer time is awesome. The food isn’t super typical Indian style food, they have a diverse menu and the staff are super friendly and helpful! They have a huge patio!
I had my 60th birthday celebrations at Mantra Don Mills on Aug 17th. Food was excellent, service was out of this world and ambiance was beautiful! Ashish and his team accommodated us in a such a short time-period and made my milestone birthday very special!
Hands down one of the best Indian restaurants. Food is amazing, chef personally came out to greet us, the chili Gobi, chicken trio, truffle naan, butter chicken were off the hook. Highly recommend this place. Beautiful patio as well.
Went here for summerlicious and was not disappointed. The menu was a great intro to the flavours that they had to offer. Service was friendly and the restaurant itself was cozy. Had the palak patey ki chaat, manchurian cauliflower, spicy spinach banjara, lamb pepper fry, and finished with the rasmalai tiramisu. Would recommend!
This is my 5th visit to this restaurant in the past 2 years. I am Sorry to say that I felt the food quality has dropped. Maybe there is a problem in finding quality Chef. We took Momo and chicken 65 for starter. They were good. However, main dishes were not impressive. Biryani was little watery and the paneer butter masala was sour. For the price we pay, that is averaging to $50 per person, I will expect better quality.
Overall: 3.8/5 Decent but clean Indian spot at shops on don mills! I wouldn’t say this is the authentic Indian food, you usually get that at a mom & pop spot at somewhere not as clean, but this was good for an upscale place. I just found it a little expensive for what it was, but there were definitely some great dishes worth getting. Ambiance: 4/5 - nice Indian classy vibe, dim and a good place to chat and meet with people for dinner. Service: 5/5 - very friendly, kind, and prompt staff. Food: 3.8/5 overall Pauw Bhaji garlic bread - 4/5 - I really liked this, with the Chana and different flavours - it was light but also really tasty at the same time. I’d order this again. Tandoori chicken momos - 4/5 - I really liked this as well, flavours were nice and it was like an Indian dumpling. I’d order this again for sure. It was soft but tightly packed with some good tandoori and other flavours. Samosas - 3/5 - I thought they were “ok”. I’ve had better and wouldn’t necessarily come here to order this again. Butter chicken - 4/5 - be mindful that this is a SWEET butter chicken. I liked it, but people who like spicy butter chickens would not like this. Spinach Paneer - 3/5 - I didn’t love this because I don’t like spinach curries, so they could have done it well, and may just be me. Great job on the apps guys, loved it!
The food was unique and the staff were super friendly and knowledgable great ambience, festive decor.
We went for Lunch today and the experience was amazing! The host Luv Sharma and his team are super friendly and make you extremely comfortable. The drinks and food served is mouth watering. Definitely recommend the Tandoori Momos, Lamb Chops as well as the Curries which are made to your taste! Definitely Recommend A Visit!!
Every time we ordered Manchurian cauliflower wings. It was good but this time it was not crispy and there was too much floor and oily too.
Great restaurant for fine dining. Enjoyed the food
The food was exceptional! But more than that, the hospitality was on another level. When we walked in, there was a private event happening and our server, Ishnat, informed us that the restaurant was full. However, he took down our details and called us back within five minutes. He also recommended some of the best dishes, and his suggestions were spot on. Tried biryani and Chicken Tri Platter. Well definitely be coming back!
This is one of my favourite restaurants for Indian food. But, just last month I was there and I noticed that the quality and taste of the food has gone down. Im not sure why. I was disappointed. :( We ordered the chicken momos, dhokla chaat, chicken biryani, daal makhni, fish, and, butter chicken.
The nicest Indian restaurant I have been to! We ordered the lamb biryani, halibut curry (our favorite!), butter chicken poutine, garlic naan, and hakka noodle, all of them exceeded my expectations. Staff were super friendly and helpful, atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was great (we went at about 5pm, only two customers were at the restaurant at the time, it is very nice for people who want to enjoy the meal in a quiet environment or have a conversation with their accompany). For people who like spicy food but couldnt take too much spiciness, remember to order medium spicy. The staff gave me some mango yogurt drink to help relieve the spiciness cuz I felt like I was breathing out fire, but even so, I still like their spiciness.
Mantra was one of my favorite restaurants to visit however the quality has really suffered lately. I had a standard order of Wombatu vegetable curry for as long as Ive been going there but the last time I visited the curry was FULL of mustard seeds and the lacha paratha was barely cooked. Hope the food taste and quality improves to what it used to be!
Recently visited this place. The sevice is great along with the indian food which was served to me. Really appreciate the efforts of the servers who make people comfortable like home here. Especially the servers Reem is really a great person to have talk with. She suggested spinach truffle naan ans so on. The vegetarian options were upto mark.
Good food and great customer service. I liked food and service provided by Mannan. The best food and environment for my 7 years old child as well
10/10 - Tandoori Chicken Momos, Truffle Spinach Cheese Naan, and Hakka Wings were incredible! Monica & Ashish were incredible!
Food and service was excellent, Anna was a great waitress. Pleasant and friendly.
I am obsessed with this place!!! There are no misses on the menu and the service is outstanding (shout out to Anna who we are always so happy to see!). Our favourite neighbourhood restaurant hands down.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. One of my favourite restaurants ever. Great service from everyone, especially Anna who we saw tonight
Our server Anna went above and beyond to make our dining experience an exceptional one.
Friday night, dead place! :( No ambiance, not many people. Food was decent. Food
Unique experience, good food, good music, great ambience. Enjoyed the date with my husband in such a peaceful place. Would love to come back again but for some more time next time. Vegetarian options: Good veggie options
Food wasn t that bad. but briyani was watery. worst part is they have no one to take care of the customers. we have to call them to take our orders. even for water, we have to call them. they didn t even care about billing us. space was not that great. they squeezed the tables to accommodate more people. no hi no thank you. only thing server asked me at last was , do you want your change ? zero service skills but expected tips. good to see this kind of customer services.
Amazing service! Mouth watering, delicious food! Beautiful ambiance! Great staff! Vegetarian options: Lobster ! And Kerala Halibut
Great location parking is great and food is also good. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options Food : 4/5 |
Shops at Don Mills is mostly a desert when it comes to good food - this place is an exception. Great Kerala Halibut (curry great, fish quantity ok given reasonable price, fish slightly overcooked), rice order (great rice in special dish with bread crust cover) and Naan all very good.
Food is amazing. Must try garlic naan and road side chicken curry. Dessert is very good. Service is very nice Food
Had a very good food. But unfortunately the guy named Ishaant was tremendosly rude and worst service provided by him. The restaurant must choose their staff properly otherwise inspite of having tasty food i did not enjoy my visit cause of the bad service by Ishaant
We (a party of about 35 people) were at Mantra to celebrate a special family occasion about 3 weeks ago. We had the opportunity to interact closely with the restaurant manager and the chef. Felt the restaurant understood our needs for this event wonderfully well. The menu discussions were handled so calmly by Luv, it took pressure off of us as hosts. There were many foodies in the group who couldnt stop raving about the food. This tasteful and balanced rendition of Indian food went down super well with everyone! The service was friendly and on-point. From the kids table to the the grown ups, everyone was well catered to. Theres a great range of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic which the crowd enjoyed. We are glad we picked Mantra for this event, it was a great experience. To the team at Mantra, thank you for being thoughtful and thorough!
Amazing butter chicken poutine. The tandoori momos were amazing too.
Great food, ambiance and service. Pricing could be a bit more reasonable but overall enjoyed it.
We went for a birthday dinner: delicious flavours, great service. Recommend.
Im torn on this review and this is more for management to note. The food here is great. We come every year for my birthday with family. This year, it was like a completely different restaurant - the service was abysmal. I think the entire staff needs training on service, including who I think is the manager. Theyre argumentative when they get things wrong, they dont know how to plate things on tables. When the manager was passing out the chai on the table, he was asking us to give it to the people instead of just walking over and placing it in front of them. I would give the service one star. There was literally no one else in the restaurant, so they definitely werent busy. Please, note for the management team, do a re-training on service for everyone - especially the manager. It will make a big difference for the restaurant (one that was packed last year and this year was empty... might be telling).
Great vibes! Great food! Great service! We loved the whole experience. Food
A friend and I had lunch at Mantra yesterday. We enjoyed the Dhokla chat which was very innovative and tangy! The butter chicken and Palak paneer was really delicious along with garlic Naan. Very much recommend this place. Great service and attentive wait staff.
I always love the vibe of this restaurant. But I was disappointed with the quantity of food per dish. Overall the staff and service were great!
Another outstanding meal at Mantra! Everything was delicious - pakora, Manchurian cauliflower, butter chicken burger, butter chicken poutine and curry chicken were all flavourful and perfectly spiced!
Below average food, lousy service, overpriced food & drinks. Be careful with your food, the possibility of foreign matter is very high and they care least about it, most likely a daily affair. Food : 1/5
Special shout out to Reem for being so kind, funny, and attentive to our needs. Excellent and quick service was provided for our group. We especially enjoyed the Daal Makhani, Paneer Makhani, and Cauliflower appetizer.
Authentic classics mixed with innovative fusion dishes. 10/10 Enjoy it every time! Food
Awful service . Impolite staff. I cant say enough how they are disrespectful.
Had a great night out with the family. The waiter was very nice and the food as well. We tried the butter chicken and lamb biryani.
Made a reservation, showed up on time, they still gave my table to someone else. First come first serve, very basic restaurant in a fancy part of town!
It tastes terrible. Don t come. The service attitude is also bad. It s expensive and terrible, but the Italian food next door is much better. tmd speechless
Me and my husband had been meaning to go to this place for sometime now and when we did, we had an amazing experience. Our Server Febin was friendly. We ordered the tandoori platter and absolutely loved the stuffed mushrooms and tandoori prawns. It was very flavourful and the best tandoori prawns I have had in toronto. We even got a chance to share our feedback with the owner/ chef Aashish, who is a very friendly and polite person. We had the opportunity to try the tiramisu cake and it was a nice surprise to try this with rasmalai. This fusion dessert was out of this world and I will highly recommend it to people planning to visit this restaurant. Overall we had a wonderful experience and will visit this restaurant more frequently.
Service was extremely slow and the food was average
Had an amazing dinner! The staff treated us like family!
Best vegetarian Indian food in the city! Manchurian cauliflower was the best!
recently came to Mantra after a friend had recommended it to me, the food, drinks and service was beyond amazing I highly recommend this place if you want amazing food and drinks.
I can honestly say this is the best Indian food I ve had in Toronto. The flavours in every dish are thought through and some unique fusion items really make Mantra standout from the crowd. Can t get enough and always satisfies my cravings! Highly recommend this hidden gem!
Honestly, this is by far the tastiest most creative and divine Indian food I have ever had. You will Love the menu, staff and ambiance, guaranteed it will not be your last visit to Mantra by Host! Food
I tried the lobster, it was incredible
Stunning atmosphere with delicious Indian food with a modern twist. The staff were super friendly and accommodating to our specific dietary restrictions.
Amazing food, ambience and service - loved the creative twists on Indian classics!
Nice and attentive staff, excellent quality and selection of Indian cuisine and a nice ambience!
Best indian food, consistent every-time!
Great service from my boy Febin ( I hope I spelled it correctly), real tasty food!! 100% recommend it Food
Everything was really good, Febin did amazing job. I recommend sitting in the patio, the view is incredible.
I had a lovely dinner with my family at Mantra last week. Our waiter, Feban, was exceptionally pleasant and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. The food was fantastic, offering delicious Indian cuisine. We sat on the outdoor patio and loved the atmosphere. Highly recommend!
they had an event on sat nite. they need to post it in on their website and also when one calls their restaurant!
One of the best indian restaurants I ve ever tried! Loved their chicken biryani, dal makhani rice bowl and mango lassi!!! Would absolutely go again.
Thanks for a lovely time. The appetisers were delicious. Service par excellence. A big shout out to Reem for taking care of everything.
Recently had dinner with friends on a Friday evening at Mantra Don Mills. U Was there for a whole afternoon/evening and tried various appetizers and mains. Food and service was excellent. Our server was Anna, who was courteous and attentive the whole evening, extraordinary service. The manager who greeted us on arrival dropped by on occasion during the evening. Made for a memorable University friends reunion. Much thanks to all the staff. Very highly recommend this restaurant. Chris, Marsh, Gerry, Diane, Linda
Party of 6. Mother s Day We decided to give Mantra a try after reading positive reviews. Unfortunately the food had no taste, was bland and cold. We ordered chicken biryani, kerela haddock, naan, zucchini and sweet potato pakora, chicken wings, butter chicken and chicken Momo. The only item that was edible was the zucchini and sweet potato pakora. The biryani was stodgy and the chicken was undercooked. We had to send back the masala chais because they were cold and had no spice flavour; they tasted like lukewarm, cheap milk. It was a very disappointing experience. We will not be going to Mantra again and will not be recommending the restaurant to friends and family either. The waiter that served us was very helpful and friendly, so good on him for his positive attitude! As for the rest?
Ordered appetizers pav bhaji toast which was served cold at first and then without the actual ingredients bhaji itself. For mains we ordered veg Hakka noodles which was again not freshly cooked. Overall Food was served cold and not fresh altho servers were nice to replace it with something else but eventually had to wait for along time.
A nice spot to try Indian cuisine at CF shops
Food was bit mild .. nothing extraordinary in terms of taste or presentation .. ambience was great
Outstanding gastronomic experience at Mantra restaurant on Saturday July 13, 2024 in the evening- we were a party of 11 very hungry people and we were delighted with the hospitality and the delicious food- we loved the chicken curry, daal, malai kofta, and butter and garlic naans!! The food brought back memories of New Delhi, which is the highest compliment that I am capable of! The taste was just amazing! The entire team was very gracious and endeavoured to make our visit memorable! We were seated promptly, well hydrated, and well fed!! The owner came over personally to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction and we left as friends!! We were too stuffed to eat any desserts this time, but there will be many more visits when we will try them all! Until then, we wish the entire team at Mantra our very best for such an amazing dinner experience!!! Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options! In fact, we chose a few vegetarian options ourselves after seeing their spread!!! Dietary restrictions: One of our guests had dietary restrictions and had brought his own food so as not to miss the atmosphere at the restaurant- they were gracious enough to allow him to eat his own food while suggesting excellent options on the menu! We ended up ordering their food after seeing everyone enjoying the meal so much!! Parking: Parking can be a bit of a challenge because the area is so popular with tourists and residents alike, but you will definitely find parking with a bit of patience!! Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and infinite patience with kids!! Excellent food options for kids too!! Wheelchair accessibility: All tge tables are wheelchair accessible and so are the washrooms! Come on over and enjoy a great meal!!
Fantastic place to bring food from elsewhere and have a good time. Subpar food - I don t know what everyone is on about. The tamarind prawns vindaloo was exquisite- perfectly capturing shrimps in their natural habitat: flavourless muddy water. The drinks might as well pass for mocktails. We got the tiramisu ras malai for dessert - the only saving grace there was the canned ras malai. The service is polite & attempted, albeit tired. Do your funds a favor and buy something off Temu instead- better ROI, you know?
I don t know which to praise most. Food, service and atmosphere were all top notch, yet I think the prices could be a little lower.
Came for summerlicious. Delicious food, wonderful and attentive service. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. We will be back. Vegetarian options: I don t eat meat or chicken. They had a lovely fish main and a number of vegetarian options for mains, appetizers, and even vegan options. If your vegetarian, there are a lot of options at MANTRA.
Very good food, nice ambiance, good service
We celebrated the Bengali New Year at this restaurant. We were a party of 6 and ordered many dishes! The food and the service both were great. However, the two things I loved the most were the Kathal Jackfruit and the Rasmalai Tiramisu. We chose to dine alfresco.. and the seating was comfortable too with cushions. Will definitely recommend this place.
First time trying this resto. Ordered via Uber Eats. Well packed & good portions. While the ingredients were fresh sadly the dishes were utterly bland for Indian food. Very disappointed given the pricing, heritage and the other reviews. Feels like the food had been sanitized/whitewashed.
I think this might be the best Indian restaurant in Toronto. Sooooo good, big portion. If you like spicy, go Desy style.lamb biryani was delicious!!!!
Tasty butter chicken
The experience was great and I wanted to tip them for the service but it soured when the bill states that theres a mandatory 18% tip for dining in - if its mandatory then its just a fee. You should trust in your staff that they provide an excellent service and customers would want to tip them (plus it is an unspoken custom). Also, they split the bill evenly instead of splitting by order, which just made it awkward when orders were not equal.
Ordered cauliflower Manchurian and veg noodles last week. It was very spicy. Not going again there. Doesn t worth the cost for sure.
One of the best Indian food restaurant in Toronto, Canada. The food quality and service is exemplary. Do let the server know about your spice level preference. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options Parking: It s in the plaza, CF Shops at North York with ample parking spaces.
Ambiance, decoration and service is amazing. Food is sadly lacking. Chicken 65 is not normal and had an unpleasant odour and covered in sour yoghurt.
Luv, the manager, is warm, welcoming and friendly. I ve been going to the Host in Richmond Hill and wanted to give Mantra a try. Ambience was great. I tried the dhokla chaat , which was disappointing as the dhokla was substituted by croutons and didn t have the spice that it should. I highly suggest changing the name of this dish to crouton chaat. The non-veg tandoori platter was delicious along with the dal makhni, paneer and lamb vindaloo. Sura lager was pretty good as well, which I recommend trying along with Cheetah as they re not available in the beer store or LCBO
Amazing hospitality and delicious food as always! This place never disappoints you. We met love and he treated us like home. Beautiful ambience and worth the time!
Kawal was a great host
Mantra never fails to delight! This evening we were celebrating my nephews birthday. The food was excellent and the staff, including manager Luv and our charming server Reem, were attentive and gracious. They even added a special touch of a birthday candle on the tiramisu raas malai. The little thoughtful touches that make an evening special.
The experience was satisfactory, though the food didnt have much flavor or distinction. On the bright side, the staff was friendly.
We really enjoy this family-run business. If you enjoy Indian cuisine or you want to explore Indian food for the first time, choose Mantra!!
Amazing food. Every dish had a flavor of its own. Service was beyond expectations. We were 40 of us celebrating my grandsons birthday. Highly recommended. Food : 5/5 |
Good food and good atmosphere. Naman was our server and his recommendations were amazing. Totally loved everything he recommended for us to try.
An attractive Indian restaurant with respectable, stylish and clean decor and interior environment. The food was served very respectfully. We ordered the DHOKLA CHAAT appetizer which was delicious. It was normal for me, but Fay liked it very much. We ordered the second appetizer, Spinach Truffle Naan, which was really amazing. It means that it may stick even more than food. An attractive and delicious bread and cheese with a peach sauce, which despite being strange, was delicious. We also got Signature Dum Biryani as the main dish, which was the signature here. We ordered lamb, which was delicious, but I didnt like the taste of some of the spices in the rice, and the meat could have been softer, but it was delicious. But our second dish was chicken with butter and cheese called DELHI BUTTER CHICKEN OR PANEER, which was awesome. We ordered with garlic bread and Korean bread, which was even tastier with garlic bread, and next time I will remember to order it with rice. It was really good to bring yogurt too. Our order was taken care of by Mr. Love, whose charming name and kind and respectful demeanor were very endearing.
Nice taste!!!!!
We had a wonderful Mothers Day meal. Food was exceptional and our server Anna was wonderful. Highly recommend
Great food, really nice service. Flavourful and great portions. Nice chai too
My favourite, go-to spot for dine-in, Indian food! Amazing vegetarian options, flavourful dishes, and the pistachio tiramisu is incredible! Will definitely be back
Amazing food, vibe, ambiance. I have dreams about their truffle naan, tandoori lobster and momos.
Very nice to see how they keep up with the Host legacy. Awesome food, as always!
Amazing food and drinks. Service is great as they are all very helpful and kind.
Went there for lunch on a rainy day. Food was good and fresh, loved their momos.
Vegetarian options: The eggplant was delicious Biriyani was the best one I had Recommended dishes Vegetable Biryani
I always call in and walk over to pick up to save the business the fees they pay Uber. When I get here the place is empty but my order is late. They tell me its because the Uber orders they have delay my order. No more trying to be nice, if I ever order here again it will be Uber. I pay less, less tip, faster order and I dont have to walk here to pick it up - J# PS: I saw your response and, as expected, you missed the point completely - makes my decision to not return completely logical. Hopefully one day you will prioritize the order of loyal clients who are trying to help you over random Uber orders, but for now if you see our business again it will be thru a random Uber order - J#
Only good item in this restaurant, Unnecessarily too much of boggie for the experience.. It seems like wanna be Michelin Star Restaurant. Only one gentleman is here at the lunch hours to serve and take orders. Naturally, it wouldnt be sufficient for the crowd. Hospitality expectations increase as its an Indian restaurant, but experience wasnt at par with the same..
Have been here before but this time was really bad experience cold curries and over spicy biryani . Not worth it for the $$$
Quite a sub average experience, visited on a Wednesday evening for my birthday dinner. Despite menu highlighting gluten free, server mentioned it being an error on menu. Service was below average, after waiting 30 min of ordering breads came but curry dishes didn t make it. Had to follow up to gather attention from servers. Appetizers came in the last after main course was wrapped up. The quality of breads was very poor. Server served alternate bread, but was still a very poor preparation. When raised with the manager on floor, reasoning was that there were lot of guests to be served. Where as there were only 5 tables occupied in restaurant. Will likely not recommend the place in my network and won t return for another meal.
Great restaurant! Ishant, our server, gave us good recommendations on food tried the momos can be a bit better, but overall okay! All the suggestions about main course were appropriate our server knew the menu by heart and all the ingredients in it. Will be back here for sure great food great service!
Had an amazing dinner recently. Service was excellent. The Aloo Gobi was the best I ve ever tasted. Highly recommended.
Wonderful restaurant! Thanks Reem for the hospitality!
We had my moms 75th Birthday dinner at Mantra on Monday. The food was delicious - very flavourful. Apps are a must - Dhokla Chaat and Momo - so good! Staff are very accommodating and went above and beyond for us. Very nice space and atomosphere. Ashish runs a amazing restaurant. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian dishes. Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegetarian dishes. Parking: Lots of parking in the parkade
The starters were good but not the main course.
Over all excellent Food, Service, Atmosphere We would recommend this place and will surely visit again. Food
We wanted to go to an Indian fine-dine to celebrate the festival of Rakhi and that s when my brother suggested this place. I am so glad he did. The place has amazing vibe and if you want to celebrate something special with yumm Indian food, you should come here. We got Dal Makhni, Paneer Butter Masala, and Amchur Bhindi & Asparagus. For starters we savoured the Paneer Tikka and Pav Bhaji Garlic Toasts. Everything was just perfect. The seasoning is mild as they serve diverse audience so don t forget to ask them to make it more spicy if that s what you like. This place is specially popular with non-Indian people and I feel proud that they are loving the food of my country at such place. Love it! Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options are available.
The food was great! And the staff members are truly Wonderful. Very friendly and welcoming. Did the all you can eat option and got full on the first round. Was able to taste alot of their food and the vegetarian options were my favorite especially the aloo one. So flavorful. Vegetarian options: Very flavorful
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at this outstanding restaurant and its the best Indian food I ve had in Canada. The truffled naan, lamb chops, and tandoori chicken were exquisite and the lobster truly stole the show. A special shoutout to Reem, our gracious host, whose warm welcome and genuine kindness made the dining experience even more delightful. Highly recommended! On a side note, the food was so delightful that I was completely engrossed, forgetting to capture the moments with pictures. Fortunately, my husband managed to record some videos, and my attempt to salvage a screenshot resulted in a slightly blurry memory.
Food was very good, pathetic service. Had to wait for 45 Minutes before they served us food. No one is there to pay attention to customers, staff is always busy in doing their own work.
We ended up at the Mantra during Winterlicious and were not disappointed. Loved the ambience. Mocktails were refreshing (lychee and guava Mojito). The 3 course- meal was a treat in every way. Portions were substantial for a fine dining experience. Service was good (could use a little improvement). Overall, great value in this inflated economy. Definitely will be back to try the regular menu.
Great food and service
Food and service is great. We had Dhokla chat which is flavourful. Also had a chance to try their Winterlicious menu, and it was mouthwatering Must try - Cauliflower manchurian Food : 5/5 |
Great food and great service! They even made us an item that was from their past menu. Highly recommend their butter chicken, and ras malai tiramisu.
Had dine in with 2024 Toronto Winterlicious. First of all, parking is very limited in front of restaurant so i parked car far away then walked in. Not as Indian food mania, Butter chicken with Naan tastes almost same as other places for me so unable to judge food quality. Service is fast and good but they charge 18% service fee on your bill so you dont have to pay extra tip. Overall, recommend Indian food mania with own atmosphere.
Party of 12, the service was not good. Over-priced Indian food with a lack of flavour. The Vindaloo curry was mild. Two of us found the lamb curry salty, the managers solution was to give us yoghurt. Another couple that was with us had to wait for a long time to sort out their bill. I guess we were paying for the location only. :(
Excellent food & the service was amazing. Would surely go again. Definitely recommend the restaurant.
We went for birthday dinner the food is so bad and quantity is very very small and price are so expensive dont waste your precious time here.not even one star place
We ordered 3 dishes, the dishes were served cold/luke warm, the taste was very basic (have had great Indian food in other places with better prices) The food is pricey with low quality in terms of taste. This has been my least favourite Indian dine in experience. The drinks were fine and the place has a vibe hence 2 stars. Food not recommended
Very good food and I like their winterlicious that you can try different dishes for set price. Cauliflower was the highlight! We got there at 5:40pm and serve with menu. After checking out the menu we learn that there s happy hour menu which ends at 6. We tried very hard to get our waiters attention to take our order before 6. He came over right at 6. He said we can t order from happy hour anymore.
All of the above is excellent I definitely would recommend this restaurant, presentation was beautiful and it tasted amazing. My next get together will be there for sure. Staff were very nice. Pleasant experience all the way.
We have ordered Christmas dinner from there twice and both time it did not disappoint! My family loves it and they really go out of their way to ensure good service. Very happy and would highly reccomend!
4 stars because of Amazing service from the staff. But personally the food flavour profile wasn t for my liking. The chicken65 here is completely different, they should definitely name it something else, I didn t like it. Butter chicken was okay, it was a bit in the sweeter note, and the Biriyani wasn t too bad, a lot of masala on and a bit on the wet side, compared to any other biryani I had.
Great food! Spice level is just right and not too overwhelming. Definitely recommend ordering a bunch of mains and all sharing family style!
Each time I dine at this restaurant I am never once disappointed, I have been eating here for many years, my favourite is their biryani, and haryali kebab, their food, ambience, interior decor, service, is a 5 star making it a full package. Looking forward to devouring all their delicious recipes one day at a time!
They have the best Indian food !
Located conveniently, great food, easygoing-rustic ambience. Right level of lighting and reasonably priced food & drinks. What stands out the most though is the customer service. We were served by Reem. Excellent communication skills, very observant and high level of anticipation in terms of guests needs. She was serving another large group of guests simultaneously. We saw her all over the floor, carrying out her tasks confidently and flawlessly. She was even bartending and mixed a nice mojito for us. Highly recommend and will definitely return!
Chicken momos were yuck Lamb chops were not even cooked properly Chicken tikka was bad. Only the atmosphere was nice Other than that I would not go here for food atall. And its on expensive side... i would not order food there
Parking: Had to park by metro food store. Food
Good food. Nice little twist on traditional Indian.
Good place, good food(finger licking good), good service ( than you ishaan bhai(sahi bande ho bhai)) Vegetarian options: Good and not monotonous, flavoury
Food too sweet for Indian taste buds but overall nice experience
Our server Anna was really friendly and provided a very good customer service.
Restaurant needs a redo. It was not clean too dark. Only one waiter. Service was slow. Chicken curry was good. Food
I recently dined here with my nephew and his girlfriend. If you like Indian food, then look no further. A gorgeous, modern take on traditional Indian food. The owners are two of the most beautiful people I have met. Husband and wife. Husband is the chef and can he cook! Try the lobster and you will be amazed. I tried almost everything and not one dish disappointed. A must visit for incredible food.
This is a hidden gem in shops on don mills. Their guava mojito, butter chicken poutine and Manchurian cauliflower were delicious. Their outside seating area tables need an upgrade but otherwise great experience
Extremely rude waitresses
Nice patio as well indoor seating. The food tastes average and service is slow.
Came here last week and was impressed with the service and food. The ambiance was very nice as well. Our server Kashish was pleasant, funny and knowledgeable. We ordered appetizers and main course, along with dessert and chai. The only thing I would say is that the pricing on the tiramisu ras malai was a bit over the top and it wasn t very good. Also, the cup in which they serve the chai is a hazard. I almost burned myself. The chai is piping hot and you cannot hold the cup properly. This is something that needs to be addressed. Ordered the butter chicken, lamb and chicken tikka. lamb was very tender and tasty. The garlic naans were awesome as well. Definitely recommend. Don t forget to follow me!!
Great food!
Best Indian Restaurant in North York
Good food, attentive service and great atmosphere. Definitely will go back again.
Great place, the food is really good.
There is nothing I can say bad about Mantra. Everything that we had whether it was the biryani, the curries, or the desserts, it is all delicious, full of flavour, and brought me back to the flavours of my home country. If youre looking for an Indian restaurant to try, this is definitely the spot.
Food here is great, you can get them at regular spice levels or Desi Style if you want an extra spicy experience. Good variety of dishes available, typically on the spicier side for seasoning, but not overly spicy if you re accustomed to eating Indian food. Definitely recommend the Biriyani!
I ve been to this restaurant multiple times in the past and used to absolutely love their food but this time it was a total mess. The quality and taste of food has degraded significantly. To begin with, the menu selection has been reduced to half of what they used to be serving previously. For starters the chicken in chicken 65 was astonishingly over cooked. The Tikka trio was decent but the flavours have seen a downfall. For mains the shrimp vindaloo was a disaster, the gravy, the shrimp, the taste : there was not a single factor to be appreciative about. (Shrimp was chewier than an actual rubber) For breads selection, the tandoori roti didn t seemed to be freshly made, garlic naan was ok. I had oversold this place to my parents who were visiting for the first time and it turned out to be an embarrassment in terms of quality and taste. I think you guys can do much better at Mantra.
Good place for dining. Staff are courteous too
Kash is amazing waitress. Been coming here for years, always amazing food, service and great prices for the portion. Tandori is highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Tons of gluten free and vegetarian options
Last night, I dined at Mantra by Host and wanted to share my experience. The restaurant had a great ambiance and a friendly, attentive staff. We tried a variety of dishes,.The Manchurian cauliflower was outstanding. Garlic naan were great aswell. However, the Roadside chicken curry and Jeera rice were just okay, and the Chicken 65 was slightly overcooked. In summary, Mantra by Host offers a wonderful atmosphere and service, but the food experience was a mix of hits and misses. Its worth a visit for the ambiance, but food might not be its strong suit.
One of the fancier Indian restaurants of the GTA, and it does not disappoint! All the food was delicious, and portions were exactly the right amount, with lots of cool and innovative desi options! Vegetarian options: Lots of options
Location has its own vibe. Vegetarian options: Spinach Truffle Naan, Pao Bhaji Garlic Toast Food : 5/5 | Service
Delicious food,great service.
Had a great dinning experience today at Mantra by Host . Food was well prepared , delicious and good portions . The manager Luv and his staff were attentive , courteous and very friendly . Great evening at this restaurant .
Food was good. Service can be improved
I selected this place for my baby brothers birthday. The ambiance is impressive, but it could benefit from the right music to set the mood. Our server, Anna, not only attended to our needs but also ensured everything was going smoothly. As for the food, we ordered Manchurian Cauliflower, Tandoori Truffle stuffed mushrooms, Rose Malai Kofta, Paneer Tikka, and Garlic naans. The naans were exceptional, and the other dishes were delicious. The mushrooms were particularly outstanding, although the Paneer Tikka curry lacked depth in flavor. Overall, it was a delightful experience.
Must visit restaurant. Loved the food here.
Must visit indian restaurant please do visit
Dined in for friday dinner. All thanks to Ishant got us exceptional experience even though whole restaurant was busy. Butter chicken poutine was really good would recommend for sure. Made some good memories with the server will be back here in no time.
Hosted a large (60 people) birthday here this weekend. It was a fantastic experience! If I could give 10 stars, I would! The staff went out of their way to make the evening run smoothly and provide a memorable experience for all our guests. Everyone was smiling all night long , and things seemed to appear magically as soon as they were requested. The food was exceptionally good! Thank you Mantra by Host, you will definitely see sone of us again!
Great ambience and excellent service at a great price, the food can be sometimes a lil low on heat and masalas. Otherwise absolutely recommended Vegetarian options: Enough veg options as well
First time going to Mantra, was a regular at The Host. Food was great! Naan was especially well made, our server Ishan was especially friendly and polite. A great storyteller as well. We will be back for sure!
Service was amazing. The waitress was was so positive and recommend great dishes. The food came quickly! The best Indian restaurant I ve been to.
Really enjoyed the food here. And the atmosphere is quite relaxing. The samosas are right on point.
Loved the experience, the food was great and felt good after too. Would go back for sure
Very good food. Price was a bit high because its a fine dining restaurant. But its worth the experience. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options Kid-friendliness: High chairs for kids
Fantastic service and ambience. This place looks and feels like a fancy Indian restaurant. Unfortunately the food is where it disappoints. I ve enjoyed the Host (Richmond Hill) many times before so was sad to find the food here at Mantra no where near as good. Food: All the meats on the Tandoori tasting platter were incredibly dry. It was a struggle to get through this dish and we ended up packing most of it for take-out. Butter chicken was off, might have been the white drizzle on top it came off sour and overly acidic. It had notes of what reminded me of tomato sauce. Lamb roganjosh was okay and had plenty of lamb in it. Garlic naan was average. I enjoyed the Spinach Truffle naan more, but not enough to order it again due to the price While I was excited to try this place, I don t think I will be returning
Excellent food, great atmosphere. I loved the friendly service, and did I mention the food was delicious?
A little pricy but almost Everything on the menu is delicious. Went back many many times and was never disappointed. The staff are very kind and nice.
Came here with a few friends. The ambience is very warm. Food was overall 7/10 from a vegetarian standpoint. We ordered a few things to share as a group: 1. Butter paneer was really good, one is enough for two people. 2. Garlic naan was really good. Can t go wrong here! 3. Vegetable biriyani was disappointing. I could taste the frozen vegetables that were mixed. I would appreciate it more if they used fresh vegetables considering how much you are paying for it. 4. Various mocktails, these were decent. We got the mango & lychee mojitos which were tasty! 5 Dhokla chat was so delicious as an app. Highly recommend.
Great ambiance, good customer service and tasty menu Authentic aromas & delicious food, a little on the watered-down side..but the menu has some great selections. The interior is very nice with a light background Indian music. Service is good and quick, but could use some tweaks.. Other than that, it s a great spot
Overall food was Okok. Like it was same as the ordinary restaurant but the price was really high.
The food was fairly bland. Not going again
Really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The decor, food and service were all amazing!
Wow, I loved everything about this restaurant. The service was what you should expect and more. Reem took care of us and made us feel at ease. The food was amazing, hot, quick, and the presentation, the colours and the taste, superb. This outing was perfect. The staff was on point, smiling and engaging. This place is a must. Food
Our server was friendly the drinks tasted good. The downfall is the wait time for the food. 48 minutes to get an appetizer is disappointing. The meats were dry and not that flavorful. The naan that came with the sampler was soft and tasty, but that s about it. Would not return as the quality of the food in relation to the time it took to receive the order was below expectations
Food is great, service is a bit slow provided that we booked our dinner prior. In summary, we enjoyed the ambiance and setting. We were full with savory dinner meal. Vegetarian options: Half of our group is vegetarian so food is really inclusive basing on variety.
We were a large group of people each with their own dietary requirements. But, the staff was SO helpful and found us many alternatives/modifications and versions of the dishes on the menu and even made some requested dishes (not on the menu) for us. They made sure we had a great time and were very friendly. Food was delicious for everyone, and ambience was one of a kind. Special shout out to Reem and Ishant for looking after us with so much warmth with all our requirements. Thank you for a great experience. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: No onion, garlic, vegan, chillies options for any and a combination of all of the above! Parking: Free Shops at Don Mills parking lot (restaurant is a part of Shops at Don Mills). Arrows will guide you to it.
Came here for lunch on a Sunday. Quiet spot. Loved the Naan. The Chicken Biryani was 85% rice that was spicy and very dry. Service was excellent. He came back frequently to make sure that we were topped with water and burning from the spice. The restaurant was dark even in daylight. Nicely decorated. The kitchen is upstairs. Found that to be rather unusual.
The food is very tasty and plentiful. Unfortunately the service really struggled. Despite ordering appetizers in advance and a fixed menu the staff seemed confused. Everything was incredibly slow and the meal was 2 hours. This does not work for a business group needing a 60-minute meal. Finally, the incense burning was overwhelming and negatively impacted the experience. If you are sensitive to odours or perfumes you will have to avoid this restaurant.
I think this is my favourite Indian restaurants. The food is so good and authentic- yet on trend. I have had nothing but amazing meals every time I come. My top pics are the lamb chops, dhokla chaat and garlic naan (it s the best naan I ve ever had). Dietary restrictions: All meat is halal
Quantity & quality was good Food was fresh, presented well We are from India so ordered the Indian version however Was spicier then expected They can add more veg options The server called Reem was very friendly & helpful she suggested a Jackfruit sabji that wasnt on the menu, it was very nice Can improve - Naan was a bit too chewy for a fine dining place Other take out places have naan that melt in the mouth Veg Sizzler platter was tasty however veggies like were not marinated enough so tasted raw Service was quick & courteous Atmosphere & decor was upscale, warm with nice artefacts decor lighting The door was impressive heavy felt like entering a palace, good attention to detail from the entry to the well decorated bathroom Will surely suggest for a fine dining experience with family & friends, date night etc Vegetarian options: Have veg options Dietary restrictions: Veg, vegan options available Parking: Don Mills parking Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor
The food was really good and service was very fast
My favourite Indian Restaurant in the city. Chef Ashish kills it. Highly recommend!!!!
All I can say is wow. This modern twist of Indian traditional dishes is absolutely exceptional. I had more than 10 dishes off this menu and absolutely every one of them blew me away. I would highly recommend this place to anyone for any occasion. Even those who don t typically like Indian dishes I truly believe they would leave with a new view. Great job to chef Ashish. We will be back!
They didnt update their timings and we have to walk out hungry
We celebrated our 18th year anniversary at Mantra tonight, it was all in all an incredible experience. The food was delicious and the service was top notch!!! We loved it!!!
Decent place, Good food and services!!
Good food and service. Nice decor but a bit pricey.
Everything was excellent and we had a lovely evening :)
