3393 Yonge St, North York, ON M4N 2M8, Canada
Casual eatery serving cheeky cocktails alongside local favorites with a contemporary twist from Mumbai and across India.
Absolutely scrumptious! 😋 This is our second time here, and the food just keeps getting better! Today’s experience was even more extraordinary, thanks to the fantastic service provided by Mrunmai. We can’t wait to come back for more!
If you're craving authentic Mumbai street food, Mumbaikar Indian Restaurant and Bar in Toronto is the best place to binge eat. I enjoyed the Vadapav which was perfectly spiced, surmai fry was crispy and fresh, Chicken Lollipop, and Misal pav was a delightful treat, all the dishes were bursting with flavour and reminiscent of the vibrant street stalls of Mumbai. Each dish was a delightful reminder of home, making it a perfect spot for anyone looking to indulge in the rich culinary traditions of Mumbai. Highly recommended!
My Go-To place when I want to feel like home. Their chicken masala lollipops are to die for and nothing could beat their vada pav . Apart from this I didn’t like how oily the triple schezwan rice was so maybe a 3/5 for that, but overall amazing food.
Worst possible place to order online food. My order was 3 items strictly vegetarian, they sent me chicken I think and not sure sure what else! I cannot bear the smell of this in my apartment. After checking I called them up to inform that they may have misplaced the orders. Spoke to the manager as well and got to know that this does happen sometimes! I have been visiting for dine in and multiple delivery orders, but this is something unacceptable. I am surprised to know that the response was an apology with an excuse that with multiple orders this happens sometimes and we cannot do anything about it and we try. I never wished to give such a bad review to one of my regular place, but I almost puked before this!
The food was okay-okay.. maybe because I came in with much expectations! Ordered gobi Manchurian and chicken lollipop.. it was filling .. the quantity offered for the prize paid was worth but I believe it could have been more tasty. Mango lassi is worth every penny 10/10 for that. The service and the ambience were great, loved it.
This is my favorite restaurant in Toronto hence forth! I'm getting all my friends here for every occasion that I'd celebrate and if they cater ..I'm going to get food catered from here !! The most indulging experience.. took me back to the streets of Mumbai which I dearly miss and cherish 💙 I don't know why no1 ever told me about this place before :/
Our first experience was good. 1. Triple hakka fried rice - good portion, comes with gravy which was good and tasted nice. 2. Pav bhaji - personally liked the bhaji. 3. Masala chai - disappointed Overall good experience and will try other popular items on the menu for sure!
We just left the restaurant, and on the way home, I wanted to write a review. The restaurant is simply wonderful. The food is delicious; you can taste the chef's skill in every dish. The service is also excellent. Unfortunately, I didn't ask the name of the girl who served us, but she was very polite and attentive. (We visited the restaurant on 9/04 and were the first customers.) So, my personal rating is 10/10. Good job 👏 Thank you very much💕
The food is absolutely delicious, complemented by excellent service. The portions are generous and fairly priced, making it a great value. The space is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed, creating an inviting and enjoyable dining atmosphere.
Yea so they don t serve achar pickle with dal khichadi even over asking .
What a food ! What a ambience . And this girl mitali she is gem of person . She know what she is doing wow
Best service! Best food! Good ambience! Must visit if you want to ear authentic maharashtrian cuisine and mumbai street food.
The daal was incredible rich and full of flavor! Ketki, our server, was wonderful and made the experience even better.
Fantastic
We came here to celebrate a birthday but unfortunately were left extremely disappointed. We inquired about the seafood thali option which comes with 1 seafood curry and 1 non-vegetarian curry. However the restaurant insisted that our only option for the non-vegetarian curry was an egg curry. When we asked if we could instead get a chicken or mutton curry, we were told no. Even for the non-vegetarian thali which is supposed to come with 2 non-vegetarian curries, we were told that one of our curries had to be the egg curry. This is deceitful marketing to a customer, as no where on the menu does it say that the thali is subject to restrictions. Don t try to pass off egg as non-vegetarian to your customers. When we asked what we could substitute the egg curry with we were told we could substitute for any vegetarian curry. Generally a restaurant will only substitute an item for another similar type of item, i.e. like for like. By offering to substitute the egg curry with another vegetarian item, the restaurant is only admitting that an egg curry is not a non-vegetarian dish. Deceitful marketing by the restaurant. We will not be coming to this place!
I visited the restaurant yesterday night around 9 PM and we ordered the food by 9.05. Even though the restaurant was not that much busy it took 40 minutes to get the food. When they deliver the food instead of the Mumbai chicken biriyani which i ordered they bring paneer biriyani. Then again i had to wait for another 15 minutes to get the food. Clearly they don t value people time and servers were unprofessional. Furthermore when i went use washroom it was out order and sink was clogged. Also the price of the items are not justified by the quality and quantity. Do not wish to visit again and not recommend.
Food here is unbeatable, authentic indian food with a wide variety. Vada pav and thali are a must try.
Beautifully decorated restaurant with comfortable seating and amazing food. Everything was freshly made and tasted like homemade. I think we had the owner serve us and he was friendly and accommodating for our spice levels. Very attentive as well. Vegetarian options: We had a veggie Thali for a late lunch. They had a paneer curry and amazing dal as part of that. And fresh chapatis.
Amazing Indian food.
By far, the best Maharashtrian and one of the best Indian restaurants in Toronto. If you re bored of ordering the same items at run-of-the-mill Indian restaurants, visit them for a different variety of lip-smacking dishes!
Expensive,
We tried the Surmai fish thaali and pav bhaaji. The food was good. We have also tried their vada pavs once earlier; which were okay. The green chutney they serve is nothing like what vada pavs are served with usually but its taste was decent. The Malvani in me can approve the fish preparations. However, a couple of things, firstly, the pav bhaaji was served almost cold, not even warm, and secondly, there was barely any service. There was just one girl running around. It took them 10 mins to take an order and we had to wait again to place a repeat order. So maybe order in instead of dine in.
We tried 3 thalis and gobi manchurian. Veg, chicken and mutton. Requested waiter to swap dessert with extra chapati/roti which she agreed. * Best roti/ chapati I had in canada * lamb curry pieces were inconsistent and undercooked. I felt meat was not properly cooked and it was bit cold. * best daal tadka. * disappointed with egg curry because they added this as second non veg curry to the thali, after searching in google and chatgpt got to know that egg is vegetarian. * rice portion was less. We ordered extra rice. Gobi manchurian was semi gravy type. Few pieces were inconsistent again felt if they cooked little bit longer would have been good. Not a fan of semi gravy but taste was really good. Ambience is really nice.
We liked the experience. Probably will visit again
Ordered triple schezwan from here, and it was so bland. 1 star is what it deserves. Not what a mumbaikar would want. Pass on this place. Tried this place again: If you want food with the cheapest quality of ingredients, this is the place for you!! Ordered again after a friend said, Lets give them another chance: the quality of the rice was the worst thing Ive ever experienced. Cheap, bad quality. Lowest of the lows. I wouldnt give it another try. Take out is worse than dine in. Because of obvious reasons.
Highly disappointed! Arrived at 10 pm, well before the stated 10:30 pm closing, yet we were refused service with the excuse that the kitchen shuts 45 minutes early. Misleading hours and terrible customer service wont be returning.
Best Mumbai food in town!
Overall food was good, Vada pav had that authentic Bombay taste. Although some starters like the Sev Puri/Pani Puri couldve been better. Service was excellent. Our server Mrunmayee was very polite, kind and helpful. Very impressed overall. Highly recommended if youre in the Uptown/ Yonge&Lawrence street area.
Very tasty food. The Lamb Vindaloo was spicy (we had been told by our waitress so no complaints) but so so tasty. Naan was light and fluffy. Service was great too.
First time visit, order vada pav, misal pav and pav Bhajji. Pav is seriously hard, cold, Atleast toast the!! In pav bhajji, just had too much butter flavour, no taste.
Great food, authentic taste!!
Ordered takeout because we were experiencing an emergency water shut down in my neighborhood. Just wanted to shout out the thoughtful packaging by the restaurant. Everything is labeled, nothing spilled! Thank you! Vegetarian options: Aloo Gobi
A Culinary Catastrophe If I could give Mumbaikar zero stars, I absolutely would. My wife and I ventured there, hopeful for a decent meal on Dussehra, only to be served a disaster wrapped in bad service and worse food. I ordered the methi malai mutter, expecting something remotely edible. Instead, I received a sour concoction that claimed to be a curry but was lacking in every possible way particularly in the one of the key ingredients: mutter. You know, those little green peas that are actually supposed to be in it? Yeah, good luck finding them! The roti was equally uninspired, and after our meal, both of us felt like we had swallowed a bad joke. We spent the next day coughing and feeling uneasy thanks, Mumbaikar, for that delightful gift! As for the service, it was a masterclass in neglect. The waiter offered us water in a bottle but forgot to bring glasses until it was time to slap us with the bill. Apparently, pouring water is too much to ask for, but handing over a receipt? No problem! And let s not forget my earlier foray with this establishment via Uber Eats. The pav bhaji was a sad pile of mashed potatoes that tasted like a flavorless mush, and the misal had the audacity to serve me stale, non-sprouted mutki. Who knew rubbery food could also be tasteless? You might be wondering why I even returned after that debacle. Simple: it was late, we were desperate for Indian food, and Mumbaikar was the only option on Young Street that stayed open past 9:30 PM. Talk about a choice between bad and worse. Bottom line: Mumbaikar is the worst Indian restaurant I ve ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and keep driving. Your taste buds will thank you. P.S.: They keep changing the curry menu.
Best mumbai style food in TO. Tried the vada pav, it brought happy tears to my eyes. I have been living in TO for some 2 decades now, no other place comes this close to what we get in mumbai
This place never fails to impress. Triple Schezwan is the best in Toronto!! Must try
I recently placed an order and the service of the front desk was commendable. Thank you once again.
There are two Mumbaikar locations: one at Yonge and one at Bloor. The following took place at the Yonge Location. I really dislike having to leave this review, but for the sake of transparency, I have to be honest. Slow service is the main complaint here - hence the reason for the three stars. Ambiance and food; however, are SUPERB and five-star quality. Although the service was slow, (at first), the owners explanation of being short-staffed was given and was quickly remedied and rectified for a party of 14. Understandable when you are confronted with a situation that was not adequately prepared for and by which you were overwhelmed. My Aunt called the previous day to make reservations but when we entered the restaurant, there seemed to be a combination of miscommunication and confusion (which was eventually resolved). Mom tried the Pomfret Fried Fish and I tried the Shahi Paneer with two orders of Butter Naan. Both dishes excellent! The spice and flavor profiles were well-executed. Visiting from the US (so I am not a local), but would definitely consider returning to try other Menu items the next time I am in the Toronto Area.
Mumbaikar is our go-to every time we visit Toronto! Authentic Maharashtrian cuisine with a nice ambience. Must try if you are in Toronto.
Vadapav is must !! THE BEST IN TORONTO
Excellent food ambience
Such flavourful food and such consistent great taste!
Wheelchair accessibility: No Food
Take it from a Maharashtrian (Province Mumbai is in) and an absolute foodie that this is as close as it gets to food from back home. A MUST TRY, fancy restaurant vibe, and amazing staff.
We ordered vadapav and it was so delicious
Service was very slow and took forever to place orders, get bill. Food was average for the price.
Their vadapav is really good. It could be a hit or a miss sometimes (we ve had a hit and a miss in the past) but this time it was a blockbuster. Thumbs up to the chicken thali too. However, the Indo Chinese food can be better. We had a good experience with the service too. Overall, a good place.
The washrooms were terrible. Water on the floor. A weeks worth of gum in the urinals.
We order.biryani but it was overcooked we didnt get refund.
Food was overcooked.
This is regarding my visit on August 23rd, 2024, at 9 PM. I ordered bone-in tandoori chicken and specifically told the person taking my order, that I wanted it really, really well done. But guess what? When my order arrived, it wasn t even warm enough. Parts of the tandoori chicken were literally cold.It seems they precook the chicken, and when someone orders it, they just slather it in oil, throw it in the oven for a couple of minutes, and serve it. It wasn t even freshly cooked. When I pointed this out to the server, her excuse was, I told them to make it well done, but they still prepared it this way. Really? The cook doesn t listen to the person taking the order? I didn t even finish half of it who wants to eat oily, cold tandoori chicken? After that, I asked for mint sauce. They only brought it when I was about to leave. Instead of attending to my request, they just stood at the counter doing something else.To top it off, the washroom was filthy. It s shocking that a restaurant like this doesn t even have proper hand wash. They water down the hand wash so much that there was none left, and even the bottle seemed to be asking for forgiveness.I don t recommend going here. I m writing this review after a couple of straight bad experiences
Enjoyed the food. Dal makhani + Tawa pulao, best combination. Butter chicken was great, too.
Amazing Indian Restaurant on Yonge street. Great Mumbai Style Food and Maharashtrian style Thalis. Lovely ambience Top notch service. Food
I am from Mumbai and been to many restaurants that says Mumbai food in Toronto area but this place is something else and is the best authentic Mumbai food you can get. I have already been here twice and was served by Makranti the first time and Mamali was the one who served us the next visit both were friendly and we we felt as if we were in Mumbai enjoying the food. Thank you Mumbaikar chicken lollipop was fantastic and so was other food. Please maintain the taste and we will be back for sure!
I recently enjoyed dining at Mumbaikar on Yonge, where Momali provided exceptional service. She was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Momalis recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience. Her prompt service and cheerful demeanor made us feel welcome and valued. We appreciated her professionalism and the personal touch she brought to our meal. I highly recommend visiting Mumbaikar and experiencing Momalis outstanding service.
Visit 2: This time food was horrible especially Butter chicken which we loved last visit. It was just a tomato puree tastes so tangy. Never visiting again! Visit 1: Food was delicious we had Tandoori, Butter chicken, Naan, Fried rice and Pistachio dessert. Everything was great. However service was terrible, u guys developed a good place but don t spoil with ur servers. It was a slow evening, and servers were chit chatting near bar laughing and gossiping about other customers. Teach ur servers basic etiquette every time we gotta shout from our seat for the service. Note : Friday evening 12/22 8PM
The restaurants sanitation and food quality is very questionable. Came here for a lunch during the weekend and the person sitting next to us found worms in their Gulab Jamun. Firstly, it totally ruined my appetite and made me feel terribly unsafe to continue eat and secondly, the server or waitress just apologized and act like nothing happened. Moreover, order a thali set and the food took extremely long to prepare/arrive. I am not sure how they have passed food inspection in the past.
Came here for the second time and I liked even more than my first visit. Everything was really tasting good
Worst packaging ever received. Who packs the drink with the food and that too in such a way that it spills all over. Worst experience ever had
Ordered Sev puri and Ragda paties at Yonge Mumbaikar and it was not all like Mumbai taste got so much upset with that . Staff and ambience is good but food is not too much tasting like mumbaikar. Well, Vada pav and Veg thali were good but as it was not allowed to share I didn t ate moreover my daughter liked it . It s worth visiting once .
Dahipuri was soggy, keem paav was tasteless, pav had no oil butter and cold! Table for two could not even fit one person!
Damn the servers were so unprofessional and rude. First of all they didnt take good care of the group despite the fact that the service was super slow. Secondly, when we approached the counter to pay the bill, initially they added the tip in the dine-in bill automatically and then kept the option of tips open on the machine itself. Unaware of the fact that tips were automatically included in the bill, we paid extra 20% on the bill which was not being shared openly while paying. Later on they told us oh you didnt have to pay the tips and can ignore it. Alas! Too late. No compensations were made. TYPICALLY Scammer behavior. Wont go back again and wont recommend at all.
Best Indo-Chinese food in Canada. I couldn t find a similar taste of Mumbai Chinese anywhere but this is almost the same. Love the food, ambience and staff. Thank you! Open one restaurant also in Vancouver please.
I get food delivered online from here. No doubt the food is delicious, but the wait time is excruciatingly long. Mumbaikar needs to work on their delivery time commitments. I waited 2 hours for a simple order that was to come in 30-35 mins. My recommendation to customers- Order food from here only if you have a couple of hours to wait. Recommend the Bhindi (okra) masala, Chicken and Mutton biryani. Vegetarian options: The bhindi masala is good.
This is hands down it is this best Mumbai street food place in the town. Their food is just on point flavor wise. Misal pav and Vada pav is a must try. The portion of the food served is decent and to share with friends and family. The service was very fast and food felt very fresh. The servers were very gentle and polite. Overall, it is a 10/10. Would recommend everyone to go visit.
We are visiting from USA and found this restaurant. Ordered Vada pav, ragda patties and there was promotional thaali buy one get one free. We thoroughly enjoyed the food as it fitted our taste and cooking style. Make sure like any other places to tell them how spicy you want your food. For some dishes you need to build the taste as this is Maharashtrian food unlike most Indian restaurants cook either Punjabi or South Indian food.
I recently visited Mumbaikar Indian Restaurant and Bar in Toronto and tried their Chicken Triple Schezwan Rice, and it was fantastic! The flavors took me back to the delicious Mumbai Chinese food I love. So far, this is the best Triple Schezwan Rice Ive had in the city. If youre a fan of Indo-Chinese cuisine, this place is a must-visit! Highly Recommended
Mumbaikar at Yonge in canada is a gem for anyone who loves authentic Indian street food! As someone whos from Mumbai, I can confidently say that this place nails the flavors and atmosphere perfectly. The vada pav and pav bhaji are as close to the real deal as you can get outside of Mumbai. The spices, the freshness, and even the ambiance remind me of home. The staff is friendly and the service is quick, making it a perfect spot for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the taste of Mumbai in Toronto!
Simply Amazing
Worst experience ever! They should change their name from Mumbaikar to something else. Absolutely ridiculous tasteless food. I ordered pav bhaji and vada pav. In pav bhaji all i can taste is tomatoes purée and it s not even cooked properly. That s not an authentic pav bhaji and quantity is very less compared to price. It literally feels like we are having tomato soup with bread. Customer service is poor, they have very limited staff. Wastage of money
Roti is served super dry, partially cooked. Naan looked like a well done pizza crust than naan. We were misguided with the portion of curries. Disappointment!!!!! Food : 1/5 |
Wanted to have some yummy Indian paplet, Surmai and then we heard about Mumbaikar . It was the best choice to go for my bday, we ordered pomfret and surmai thali and it was yummy . It took me back to Mumbai where we ate at those authentic Maharashtrian lunch home. The ambience is good and loved the Mumbai street doodles and paintings and loves the Maharashtra map with all well known people from there, it makes you feel like you are in Mumbai with Kingfisher beer of course. Spoke to the owner who is from Mumbai and he is such a gem of a person, so down to earth and loved having a chat in marathi with a mumbaikar. Would surely recommend this place.
Been here a couple times and the experience was fantastic! Got the mango cocktail, pav bhaji, misal pav and the triple schezwan rice. Each dish was better than the next and it transported us back to Mumbai. Highly recommended!
I have tired Misal Pav at other places but this one was my absolute favourite. Perfect zanzanit misal. I also love their masala chicken lollipop and triple schezwan fried rice.
Delicious street food and loads of vegetarian options. Must try - missal pav and vada pav.
Mumbaikar is an excellent addition to the neighborhood! I went with a friend (I had the fish thali, she the saag paneer) and everything was absolutely delicious - in addition to the dishes we were familiar with, it was also a treat to experience authentic, homestyle Mumbai food (it was incredible!) The atmosphere is cozy yet classy, and our server was very kind. Cant say enough good things about this place. Cant wait to go back!
This restaurant is an absolute gem! Their menu has such authentic variety and the dishes are very similar typical MAHARASHTRIAN home cooked meal. The service provided by Mrunmayi was an amazing and overall everyone was great and provided guests with an extremely welcoming and positive environment. We tried Chicken Lollipop, Fish Koliwada, Misal Pav, Shezwan triple rice and Panipuri. I am eager to try their thalis now. Just one suggestion that they should provide Bhakari, Konkani Kombadi wade, Pithala as MAHARASHTRIAN food is incomplete without Bhakari and Pithala My daughter and husband love their food! Mumbaikar s will surely delight your taste buds and leave you craving more Definitely a must try! Big thanks to Mrunmayi
I had a craving for Misal Pav and thought I will try this place. Here is my experience. At the entrance its mentioned to wait for someone to take you to the table (if memory serves me right). I waited. No one came up to me to escort me to the table. After waiting for a few minutes, I went to the table myself. Ordered the food. The server was nice and pleasant. I asked for rassa (gravy) as is customary and as per expectations for this dish, since the pav (bread) absorbs the gravy and the dish becomes dry soon. I was told by the server, they charge extra for the gravy. I was not happy, but agreed, since we cannot consume a dry misal pav dish. Thats the nature of this dish misal pav. Essentially, the pav (bread) is designed to be quite fluffy and absorbent, so that it absorbs the gravy when dipped in it, before consuming it. I ordered a pair of pav extra. Eventually, I ended up paying somewhere around $27. Original cost is around $16 + tax. Quite steep for a snack dish which is not protein-rich. Hope the owners re-evaluate the pricing for this dish, so that we can visit more often and increase their volume sales. Would surely visit more often, if the pricing is reasonable. The staff is friendly and nice. The decor of the place is inviting and cosy. Thank you for setting up this restaurant. Wishing you all the success.
Starting with whats good- aloo pyaaz kulcha and chana (separately ordered). But its pricey Rice and noodle dish for 20$ ! - thumbs down And coz it wasnt that great. Thali wont be served in evening.- Thumbs down Service was good. Armosphere is good
Great place to try indian food for the first time. We visited around 4 pm and the place was empty, got seated right away and we ordered lots of things. I loved the butter chicken, the flavor was very very nice, the naan was so fresh and everything was the right flavor. The place was clean, they had a nice decor, cool and casual atmosphere. The service was not good, a server came, took our order and never came to check on us again, we needed some things and we wanted to order again but she never came to even check on us or to see if we are doing good. Overall an ok place to try Indian food
The service was pretty slow for a weekend ! I was there for Sunday lunch and there was definitely a lull !! The food was good, tasted like in India but it wasn t out of the world good compared to the price point !! It s a good place overall to go with a big group of people ! Definitely passes the Mumbai-vibe check !! Vegetarian options: They have a wide range of vegetarian options
I never had such Outstanding misal pav even after staying in mumbai all my life.....kudos to you guys...keep up the good taste
I really liked this place and order quite regularly on Uber eats. But my last 2 experience was really bad. Last night I ordered chicken triple rice with chicken lollipop and instead of getting chicken lollipop I got samosas. The gravy with the chicken triple rice had once small piece of chicken. The rice itself had no chicken in it Really really disappointed.
This is the place to go for some authentic Maharashtrian style food especially their fish preparations are mind blowing. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options available Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian and nut free options available Parking: Street style parking available depending on the time of the day Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids friendly dishes on the menu Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
Had the non veg thali and it was great value for money.
Good food.. the chicken thali was amazing
Very delicious food, and great service. I think our server name was Aria and she was great :)
Love this place, probably the best Indo Chinese food you can get. The chicken masala lollipop is unbeatable. Also the Misal is next to perfection. Hope y all soon add other Chinese dishes as well in the menu.
Simply ridiculous. I generally like this place but...where the chicken??? Lol What a scam, Im sorry. Very disappointed.
Overpriced Menu! I have tried so many restaurants that serve better cuisine for a good price. This place charges too high for dishes that shouldn t be so expensive! Better to try other options..!
Great food. Mumbaikars will enjoy for sure
Surmai fry was great. We ordered their specialty mutton gravy and it had the sheep meat stink to it. Could barely eat. Would not suggest mutton here
A Mumbaikars Will not recommend as you dont get the authentic taste of Mumbai. Very expensive.
Restaurant closes at 10:30 pm even when the board outside says 11:30 pm as the closing time on Saturdays. So don t bother visiting after 10:30pm as you will be turned away by the staff. They should update their hours here as well as in store so people are not misguided.
Had vadapao, misalpao, sabudana wadi - very authentic taste; the name Mumbaikar is well-deserved. And well, what is Mumbai without Marathi? Heartening to hear Marathi in Markham! Vegetarian options: Choices available and taste is authentic. Spice index appreciated.
I had placed a take out order on a bogo deal on 9 march with uber eats. Where instead of the 4 bhajis that I should have received I only got 2. I called the restaurant to sort the matter and the lady on the other line was rude and said you placed the order the wrong way. To which I asked her to explain me how the bogo deal works and she said just how it should To add to it the dal makhani was salty. The pav served with keema were dry and hard and the keema extremelt oily. Having ordered from the restaurant previously the service provided over the phone was pathetic and food which is generally delicious was not upto the mark. Disappointed with the experience.
Was craving for puran poli since its Holi period.so came across mumbaikar where they have added puran poli on menu for Holi specially...being a Marathi mumbaikar I need an authentic flavor since we have grown up by eating puran poli on every Holi as well as I am a hotelier so I am very particular about my food taste....but I have to say I made a good choice by selecting purn poli from mumbaikar..top notch taste...unbeatable taste..soft,sweet upto the mark as required..its complimented by katachi amti which is again cherry on the cake ..konala asal puran poli khaychi asel Ani aaai chya hatachi puran poli chi athvan yet asel tar naki order Kara tumhala avdell...
Ordered food from Mumbaikar, and the quality was disgusting. We ordered $80 of all vada pavs, it was smelling stale and buns were hard and stone cold. Your quality is going down. very much disappointed in your order. Please make sure you deliver fresh food.
Coming from Mumbai, settled in US, visiting friends in Canada, and a Maharashtrian restaurant that too Mumbai kar that itself was enough to satiate and this place was above and beyond in terms of satisfying the taste buds satiation as well. Lovely food, presentation, ambience, staff made a memorable experience. Great location as well. Definitely more than worth repeat visit, thank you to bring the taste here!
Loved the food. We took all of the food suggestions from the server Nivi and we were so satisfied with each and everything.
Beyond these standout dishes, Mumbaikars also offers a diverse menu featuring a variety of regional specialties, from flavorful biryanis to mouthwatering seafood delights. Whether youre a seasoned foodie or simply looking to explore the culinary treasures of Mumbai, a visit to Mumbaikars Restaurant is sure to be a memorable experience.
I recently visited Mumbaikar Toronto and experienced a minor issue with a dish. However, Madhavis prompt assistance and the teams professionalism, including Mamali and Nivedita, made up for it. They quickly addressed the problem by providing a replacement meal via Uber, showcasing their commitment to customer satisfaction. Despite the initial hiccup, I appreciate their efforts and look forward to returning. (10 months ago review) Never disappointed. Triple Schezwan Rice. Vada Pav And Pav Bhaji.
Worst food. Got very stale food which was stinking.. never order form here Food : 1/5
We planned our friends farewell at Mumbaikars. The moment we walked in we got delighted by the ambience. Since it was a weekday there was hardly any rush. Service was attentive and friendly . The menu offered a wide range of options from street food to authentic Maharashtrian dishes. We started with Gobi Manchurian and chicken Manchurian. Both the dishes were delicious. We ordered Pani Puri and dahi puri. Pani Puri was an absolute disaster . The Pani which was served was very sour ( lot of tamarind and lemon I guess) . Even the meetha Pani didnt taste good. Dahi puri was yummilicious!!! There was a perfect balance of everything they added. We loved the dish. Onion kulcha was again great. Perfectly made Laccha paratha was good. Paneer curry tasted amazing with paratha. Portion size was decent for all the dishes. We tried traditional koliwada fish with fries. It was slightly overpriced for the taste and quantity. My friend had a lovely time at Mumbaikars. Her farewell was memorable. I would highly recommend Mumbaikars to anyone looking for hygienic place with good ambience and tasty food.
Arya served us! She was awesome! Food was great!
The Food and service was very good. Ms. Arya helped us with her service and she had a great knowledge on the recipes and she was very courteous too !!
Arya was our server.. she was friendly, knowledgeable and gave good recommendations..
Good Mumbai taste.
Had visited this place with my friends today. Though we were there for Thali, they are not available post 3pm on Sunday. So we asked for suggestion to Arya and she gave us lip smacking suggestions. And we tried fried surmai, malvani fish curry, chicken tikka masala. Everything was superb. I highly recommend to taste this one whenever u can. A must try place. Special thanks to Arya for giving us beautiful suggestions as well as serving us.
Nice friendly staff and good food. We had the vada pav , anda todod with naan. Make sure to get the butter naan. The regular naan we ordered was very crispy like a papad.
Best vada pav every! I am a Mumbaikar and I was craving for vadapav I was so scared they wont have the same taste, but I was wrong. It was nice and tasty served with lasun sukha chutneyand green chutney. I was not happy with the green chutney though it wasnt that gr8. They must give serve chutney without curd. Grill sandwiche was also nice. Must go. Service is very good. Friendly staff. Street parking is available.
I placed the order for their signature triple schezwan fried rice, taste is just ohk. It not wow as they mentioned their signature dish it s completely taste less and no flavour of mumbai style chinese food. with this I had lolly pop and mutton curry with naan. Atmospheres and service is good but If you re looking for really tasty Indian food you can try this place for your own experience.
Highly recommended for Mumbai-inspired snacks, appetizers, and meals. Their mains too speak for the Maharashtrian cuisine ; but, they are no match for Mumbaikars appetizers and meals. Food : 5/5
Very poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere. Experiencing discrimination is tough, but its even more disheartening when you face it at the hands of people from your own country, in fact, your own city. Upon entering, we were directed by a member of staff to sit on a cramped table. We are tall and heavyset guys & we were not comfortable sitting at such a small table. There were plenty of empty sofas, a couple of which had locals sitting in it, just 2 people on each table. Despite our requests, our pleas were ignored, and we were pressured to sit at the small table We sat for a few minutes and went through the menu, but by then, we had both lost our moods and appetites. Overall, it was a regrettable experience, especially because we were hoping to experience both the hospitality and food that Mumbai is famous for.
Amazing experience. Perfect service and delicious food. Loved it, must try.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dine-in experience at Mumbaikar ( @Yonge) The yummy and authentic Maharashtrian cuisine, the nostalgia of sitting in an ambience that had huge Mumbai Images and the blessings of being served with welcome and warmth added to the wonderful experience! I am definitely going to Mumbaikar to try other parts of the Menu that also looked yummylicious! Keep up the authenticity of Maharashtrian Cuisine! God bless you
My family and I had a great lunch here. The service was fantastic, they were extremely welcoming as soon as we entered. Its hard to find places that have options for people with dietary restrictions. There were a wide variety of options for me as Im vegetarian . Would recommend. :)
Always loved the way the restaurant looks from the outside. I decided to order in their paneer tikka masala and garlic naan. I unfortunately don t have many good Indian restaurant options near me so even though this is a pricey option for me it s worth the value specially when I m craving some Indian Bombay food. As a Maharashtrian I fully support and love this joint. Thank you for existing!
Wish the food tasted as good as the menu description. Tried different dishes - apart from the fish kolivada everything else was mediocre. Thecha Calamari taste more like Peri Peri..Sabudana Vada was soggy and salty. Disappointed - more hype than substance. Food
We ordered some mumbais street food which we enjoyed after a long time. Getting the original food taste was an amazing experience. Vegetarian options: We had lots of options for us being a vegetarian.
Amazing Service. Tasty food. Misal Pav must try. Suitable ambience. Sabudana vada and Desert Pistachio Tres Leches was so good. Vegetarian options: Misal Pav Pav Bhaji Bombay Sandwich
Takes me back to Mumbai every time I order in, take out, dine in. Living away from Mumbai this is our comfort food place. Both the locations are great, but this one is our personal favourite. Their wada pav is supreme. Well, so is the missal and pav bhaji. Must try their pistachio tresleches. Vegetarian options: Good amount of veg options
If you crave for Indian food with not exact but very much similar taste I would recommend you to visit this place. The Chinese triple schezwan fried rice is very much what you get in india. The chicken lollipops are good in taste. Must try this place
Hands down the best triple schezwan rice I have eaten outside of Mumbai. Even their Vada Pav s reminds me of back home. Love it.
Authentic Bombay (Marathi/Maharashtrian) food. Dont miss the jhinga and Malwani fish. We went there twice in four days.
Amazing service and food Welcoming environment Food
Omg yummy yummy !!! Foods are very yummy ! Especially Mumbai masala momos #1 . Our server Nivi she is very friendly and very nice to us ! best place to go for lunch and dinner with family and friends !
Their behaviour is not friendly
Thank you for the tasty Vadapav.
To many weird rules . Even the service is not on time or on point.
There was no option to Give Zero Star otherwise would have Given Zero. 1. Bad Service 2. Delay in each item- 30-40 minutes for the snacks only. 3. No confirmation of availability of items. 4.Quantities not justfied with the price they charge. 5. Third World Non Sense List of Rules
Excellent food and service
I tried the Misal Pav and Malvani fish curry. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely would recommend
If you are craving for Mumbai food, this should be your ultimate spot! We tried the kokumtini which is a Kokum syrup and vodka cocktail. It was sooo good! I was skeptical at first but removed my doubt as soon as I had that first sip. Never thought Kokum would go so well with Vodka We ordered karwari jhinga for appetizer, liked that one too, although the prawn was a little chewy, the masala and the taste was just about right! I would definitely order that next time. For mains, we had one fish thali, I chose the surmai fish thali. Loved it. I am a huge seafood fan and I am not easily impressed but this one did! Kudos to @mumbaikar.toronto for the efforts! I would definitely go back again and want to try the street foods next! Just an improvement could be on service. Although when we went it was off time. The restaurant was not busy , so they might be running short of staff. But that could definitely be improved especially if it s busy.
Great food and service
So so good. My mom approved. Been here four times. Everything is excellent, especially Biriyani and rotti but the Mumbai food seems very spicy, even medium spiciness makes me sweaty
Incredible Indian food. Everything we ordered was very tasty and flavour. Good quantity for the price and an excellent and friendly service. Loved this restaurant and will definitely keep going back.
It has a wonderful atmosphere with just the right amount of class. Our party of 4 had an enjoyable evening. Service was perfect in spite of it being a quiet Monday evening. The variety of food was very good and all the dishes were very tasty and well presented.
5 star for service and the fact they are serving pomfret and king fry totally Mumbai style. Malvani sukka was really good. King wish curry was spicy and tasty. Pomfret albeit expensive missed the mark in terms of flavor. I wish it had masala coated through, maybe slit horizontally. Full marks for it being fresh. Loved it. Chicken lollipop could have also had punchy flavors but decent overall. I don t think this place is a 4 but its more 4.5 for me. Pistachio tres leches was good. Almost perfect. Visited again, loved misal pav and triple schezwan a lot. kairi bhel deserves a try as does the dal khichadi. Their pistachio tres leches seemed different. Sweet and artificially colored. Wouldn t go back to it. A must try place still. Parking: Lots of green p spots on yonge.
Not worth the price, we ordered vada pav, chicken lollipop, galic Naan, and a chicken gravy. Dishes were average and not worth the price. Service and atmosphere was good but dont go there if you are looking for something tasty
I recently dined at Mumbaikar and was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance struck the perfect balance, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our server, [Nivedhita], provided impeccable service, displaying a deep knowledge of the menu and offering personalized recommendations. Her attentiveness enhanced the overall dining experience. Thank you Nivedhita. The culinary journey was outstanding, with each dish showcasing authentic flavors and skilled preparation. A standout was the Pistachio Tres Leches, a true highlight that reflected the Mumbaikar speciality. Highly recommended for those seeking an authentic Indian dining experience.
