I was there for a joint retirement party. The food was great with lots of vegetable options. The staff were so quiet you didnt know they were there. They collected plates and refilled water jugs without being asked. Vegetarian options: Lots of antipasti

We have been coming to Mastros for years for work functions. This past week we had our work s year end celebration and Rina and her team are great such kind nice people and food was so fresh and tasty. Check out this restaurant that s been around for decades in the Downsview area.

Such a beautiful authentic Italian restaurant. We celebrated our Nonna s 90th birthday party here and it was perfect! Eveything was amazing. Service, food and atmosphere. We also had an accordion player during the dinner playing Italian classics that really added to the experience. The food is all homemade and very delicious and the staff are so kind and attentive. This is such a great spot to have a special event with family! Thank you!

Had a party for my daughters sweet 16 party there 5 months ago and it was amazing the food the service and the price..fast forward to last bight we were drivingvbuy and I said to my wife and 2 younger kids lets have dinner here again. Wow why did I wait so long my 8 and 10 year olds had the penny, my wife knochi and I started with inslata mista perfect combination of flavors I love a good salad this was right there with one of the best. The salad really set my taste buds alive just in time for my main. I had the lemon chicken in a mushroom and potatoes...the chicken so tender the mushrooms flavor and potatoes are often not cooked right they nailed it. My wife myself and both kids ate every last bite...my kids never finish their dinner...this was honestly the perfect meal thank you...we wont wait 5 months to come back Parking: They have a few spots in front ...main street parking is available across the street or plenty of within walking distance side street parking

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious traditional Italian comfort food. Parking is difficult, but theres plenty on the residential streets behind the plaza. Parking: Limited spaces in the actual plaza, and super tight to move around and get in and out of, but plenty of street parking on the residential street behind the plaza, less than 5 minutes walking. Wheelchair accessibility: The bathrooms are downstairs, no elevator, so not recommended for those with mobility issues. There is also no handicap parking on premises at all.

Ive been coming to Mastros for over 30 years, the food is always great and the portions are generous and the prices fair. The staff are friendly and accommodating making your visit pleasant. The only reason I didnt give the five stars is that they havent renovated in years, Its time! The only other issue would be the limited parking available, of your having a large event it will be challenging.

There is so much history behind this restaurant and the cuisine that was handed down for generations from the Abruzzo region in Italy. The food along with the hospitality is exceptional. Highly recommend.

The BEST dine in experience I ve ever had. The food and service was amazing and the atmosphere was lovely. The live entertainment from Albert the accordionist was an amazing addition to our dining experience. Highly recommend and will definitely come again.

Awesome place for food

Best Italian restaurant in Toronto

Just went to this restaurant today for dinner to try out their Winterlicious menu. We had a pretty terrible experience and I feel compelled to give a review to describe our experience. Firstly, we called to book a reservation before coming to ensure that there was availability before we arrived. The lady of the phone told us that no reservation was needed and we can just show up whenever. Upon arriving to the restaurant, we realized that there was a corporate event happening and the entire restaurant was reserved for the business. We awkwardly stood around for 5 minutes before someone came to speak to us. The gentleman sat us down in the dining room...while the corporate event was happening around us. Everyone kept looking at us like we were aliens (we were the only non-corporate client there). Unfortunately, that was only the start of it.....After being seated at our table, we immediately noticed that one of the side plates was greasy and was clearly just used by someone without being cleaned. We were served bread with only butter while another table that came in after us was provided with butter, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar - not a big deal but we were the only 2 tables present for dinner service and it was very noticeable. They also sat the second table down right beside us...the entire dining room was empty by the time the second table arrived but they decided to seat them next to us. We could hear everything each other were saying so it was hard not to eavesdrop on each others conversations and feel awkward in general. I ordered the Stuffed Chicken entree and my girlfriend ordered the Salmon entree. After eating the appetizer, we were asked if we were ready for the entree...it took another 25 minutes to arrive because the chef burnt the salmon and had to prepare a new one. When the entrees finally arrived, the salmon was fine but the chicken was HORRIBLE. It was cold, BURNT, and hard as a rock. They tried to flip my chicken over so the burnt side was at the bottom to cover it up. The chicken must have been sitting for 20-25 minutes while they prepared the new salmon piece and they served it to me anyways. I informed our server and they offered to remake the dish for me. This time, I asked for the veal dish instead. By the time I received my veal, my girlfriend was finished eating her food, so we both sat around watching one another eat. The veal dish was hot...but tasted very bland and basic...literally 2 pieces of veal boiled and smothered in gravy (same gravy used for the chicken), with some sautéed mushrooms on top. At this point, I figured it was a lost cause. I finished the veal and took everything else as takeout. We figured they would at least offer some sort of discount at the end of the meal for the numerous mistakes made throughout to make up for the terrible date night we had...but they didnt. If they had offered a discount as a gesture of apology, then we would have tipped them well as a gesture of forgiveness. The bills arrived, full price, as if nothing even happened. We went to this restaurant because we wanted to support a family-owned business, especially during these difficult times, but unfortunately, this restaurant was a big mistake. Overall honest opinion: Food - 5/10. Service - 5/10 Parking - 5/10 (not much parking available, small parking lot) Price - 4/10 (food definitely not worth the price) Overall experience - 4/10 To the owners: Im sure this is not what you wanted to see, but its the honest truth. We really wanted to support your business but we had a terrible experience here. I hope you will take the appropriate actions to not let this happen again.

Very long wait times for uber couriers

Best Italian food in the area. Locals know this is the place to go for large family functions. They can accommodate parties of 10 to over 100 (they have a large lower level for bigger parties).

I took my girlfriend to Mastros on Valentines day and we both had a fantastic dinner. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everyone was enjoying their meals and the special valentines menu was to die for! Cant recommend Mastros enough if youre looking for a quality authentic Italian meal. Will be back!

Old-school italian food cant go wrong, i like the environment very pleasant

Ive only ate here once, being the foodie that I am I was expecting much more flavor especially for the price. Unfortunately our meal lacked flavor but the portion size was pretty good. I would have given this a solid 3 star if it werent for the freezer burn taste on the chicken parm. When youre charging $30+ for a dinner plate I would expect an authentic taste not freezer burn.... The Google reviews seem pretty good I will give this restaurant another try maybe it was just a bad day but for now 2 out of 5 stars because the portion size was generous.

Old fashioned in the best way possible. Service is friendly and very accommodating. Food is traditional and excellent, with large portions and very reasonable prices.

The basement party room has bad reception, so it was hard to co nect with guests calling about parking. The parking is limited and some guests have to go park on different streets The food was amazing. The service was great. Great value for your money. Rina is an amazing host.

We had our daughter s Baptism at Mastro s back on August 2, 2020. The food was delicious, and everyone talked about how great the food was. Our family has been going to Mastro s for many years. In fact, one of my brother s had his baptism at Mastro s back in 1997. Our family has had many events at Mastro s (baptisms, engagement parties, catering, etc). Rina (the owner) is very sincere, and her staff are great too. Every time we have gone to Mastro s it always feels like home or like Nonna s house. Thank you Rina and staff for always being so accommodating, welcoming, and serving delicious foods. Forgot to mention- on the day of her baptism we also had a surprise accordion player who came and serenaded all of us with his music playing. We have yet to return to Mastro s for another night out.

I m not a frequent writer of reviews, but Mastro s is an absolutely perfect restaurant and experience. The cozy environment, the exceptional food and the service/authentic friendliness stand out and are a very special thing in a city of so many restaurants.

Had my childrens Baptism in October of 2021 and Rene was a wonder to work with. The food is amazing the staff worked soo hard and provided us with everything we needed. It s wonderful restaurant to host any event and they definitely work with you! Coming back again for a 50th in June!!

A++, a local, family owned and operated business. Fantastic food, excellent service, hosted a small gathering here among four others that same day, would highly recommend for Shower celebrations, baptisms, communion parties, birthdays or micro weddings.

The food was great, great staff, antique italian design and in addition staff spoke in italian truly reminded me of my home country.

A good friend of ours Camila ordered this wonderful lasagna and and had it delivered to our house. This was our first experience with Mastro s. The gentleman that delivered it waited very patiently in the driveway for us to park our bikes and unpack everything all the while holding this huge tray of lasagna! Don t you find the way you are spoken to and interacted with can really sets the tone for a company s service? That was really the case here as again he was very patient and gracious and humble. Definitely an above average delivery experience! My wife was heading out the door but trusted the cooking to me, so the pressure was on! Luckily Rina, hand wrote absolutely perfect cooking instructions preparing this beautiful Italian dish. I was a little worried she said only 1/2 hour to 3/4 of an hour for cooking, but then remembered I m used to cooking lasagna from frozen, and this was hand made and as fresh as it comes. So 20 mins covered and 20 min with the lid off and The pasta and meat were fresh, the sauce has just the right amount of zest, and the portion was impressive, bravo Mastro, well done! Good freshly made meals to your taste.

Have been going here for years. Great authentic food and friendly staff Dietary restrictions: Had meals options for 2 kids with peanut allergies so pretty good in my books Parking: Tight for parking but you can park on the street behind the restaurant and walk there in 2 minutes. This is even better after your meal to help burn off some of the calories

The inside was a bit messy, my chair was wobbly. Menu looks like it could have more work. Food was good and normal, a little overpriced for quality. But I still had a good time there.

From when I entered the restaurant I was greeted warmly. The atmosphere feels like Im going home again. The menu options are wide and truly Italian. The presentation of my veal dish was generous and scrumptious. Service was courteous, regular checkins that were not disruptive met each request throughout our meal. Vegetarian options: Any dish requested to be vegetarian are quickly modified and delicious

I have visited Maestros on a number of occasion and was impress by the friendliness of the Staff , who make you feel welcomed to the establishment . On my last visit to Maestros recently with a few work colleges from Ottawa , a party of 8, on arrival we were escorted to our table by our waitress and seated . I cant say enough about the presentation quality and quantity of the food , Magnifico . Rene and her Husband introduced themselves , And we were made very much at home . I came here for my anniversary. The dinner was absolutely amazing. My man can be very extra when it comes to ordering, however the staff worked above and beyond to get everything we wanted. The pasta was perfect, the salmon was the best Ive ever had. The steak was also amazing. Live music kept the atmosphere alive and beautiful. The prices were all reasonable and again, our waiter was the greatest! Thanks Roberto! Ill be back for certain! 5 stars easy!

I ate here once for a work Christmas party in 2018 and it was delicious, HOWEVER I ordered on Uber ears today and it was not good. The chicken piccata and it was bland and tasteless. The chicken was white. No seasoning no sauce. I was very disappointed

My friend and I were here on labour day and we absolutely love the food, they are so fresh and authentic, we also love the services here, friendly servers and we will for sure come back again. This place is awesome for a cute date and family gathering.

Love this place. Never disappoints! Spaghetti alla chitarra, penne alla vodka and manicotti gratinati. All so yummy! Roberto is always so personable, welcoming and knowledgeable.

The employees at Mastro s go above and beyond for their customers. My grandmother isn t doing well health wise and I brought her and my grandpa a dinner from Mastro s. She loved it SO much and now asks for it all the time! She said that it was the best pasta she has ever had. I called them yesterday to ask if they would deliver. I worried that I lived too far but they assured me that it was okay and delivered in a major snow storm AND were early! Their food is outstanding and reasonably priced! Highly recommend.

The food here is good. The staff here is very attentive and nice to their customers. It has a nice relaxed environment. I like the old fashioned environment.

I visited the restaurant for a Holiday Party with my employer. Immediately after dinner myself and others were feeling ill. I had the worst case of food poisoning that Ive had in years.

Good classical Italian. I had the dinner special, manicotti to start followed by the beef tenderloin. I found the beef Tenderloin medallions a bit small on the portion side. The manicotti was homemade and very tasty.

Went there for buffet style lunch. Traditional Italian antipasto, some pasta and a couple of mains to choose from. Everything was good and the waiter was very nice. Id recommend it for lunch if you dont have a lot to do in the afternoon as youll want to take a nap afterwards.

Best food in the city!!!!

We just finished having an event here today! First off, Rina is AMAZING. She is a pleasure to deal with, and makes the entire process seem so simple. I usually get quite anxious about events, but Rina made today effortless and stress free. She is so friendly and mingled with all the guests, and kept checking in on us. We felt like we were family with the way she treated us, and she absolutely went above and beyond. Hands down, the best restaurant owner we have ever dealt with. The waiters were courteous, friendly, and really aware of all the guests. I loved how they kept asking if anyone wanted seconds. Our families are big eaters, Portuguese & Italian, and everyone remarked on how incredible the food was and how full they were - which is SO important to us. Each dish was more delicious than the next, and the spacing between dishes was perfect. The open bar was truly open , in the sense that anything my guests requested, it was given. A HUGE thank you for this, as oftentimes there are exceptions, but Mastro s knows what they re doing! Lastly, a strolling accordion player and singer joined in towards the end of our event for impromptu music. It was so nostalgic and was the perfect end to a perfect evening. So, the takeaway of this review: choose Mastro s. You won t be disappointed. I will definitely be going back for our next event and couldn t possibly be happier with how today went!

Wow! Tacky decor but the food was exceptional and prices reasonable. Was there for a special event in a private room. Service was also good.

Great atmosphere. The place has been there for over 35 years. They even have an open buffet lunch or a la carte. The inside has an old school look to it that makes you feel at home.
