Such a shame. Used to have the best chicken and patties in the city by a landslide. Quality has steadily decreased as they got more popular. Does not even compare to what it used to be. Chicken is very hit or miss these days and I don t know what kinda frozen garbage they are calling patties these days but man do I miss their old ones.

Even though it s not over the coals, my favourite, the flavours are some of the best in the city. Always a treat coming here and atmosphere still gets a 5 star because you should have seen the place before when they were on York Mills. Nitty Gritty!!! But still loved going there. Well done guys keep up the great work! Update. Used to be my favourite now they serve day old chicken and rice. You can tell the difference quality has gone down during the day anyway. Have returned 3 times since and same result. Bring the freshness back please

The owner is very nice. I suddenly had a pregnancy craving for Jamaican food, but they were closing in 5 minutes. I called, and the owner was willing to wait for us to arrive. The food is delicious, and the service is even better! I would give it 10 stars if I could!

Jerk Chicken is delicious

Excellent service but the jerk chicken is extremely salty. Couldnt eat it. Tastes like soy sauce chicken, not jerk chicken. Patties were not fresh either, very disappointed.

This place can get busy so pack your patience. Cash only and quick service. I ordered the veg curry on rice and peas because their veg patties arent vegan. Grabbed two boxes of patties for my team who loved both the beef and veg patties. My partner at work swears by the jerk chicken and oxtail sauce on the rice and peas. Hidden gems for sure!

The jerk chicken and rice and peas was good, the Asian girl slapped the coleslaw Ont he food like she s feeding dogs. She lacked every bit of politness, let alone even being friendly . I can t stand bad customer service .

Still the best patties out of every patty Ive tried and Ive tried a lot. I keep coming back to this one. The crust is great, the filling is great. The staff (especially the young man that served me tonight) are so polite. The venue is also clean ! Just be aware this location is CASH-ONLY.

Surprised about a the positive reviews because my experience here was very lackluster. I ordered the infamous stuff sandwich but they only take cash so I had to use a sketchy cash machine at a nearby convenience store in order to pay The place itself looks worn down no niceties whatsoever a roll of paper towel instead of proper napkins and there were flies buzzing about, Ive seen cleaner gas station bathrooms tbh The sandwich itself was ok but the atmosphere made everything much more unappetizing unfortunately

I visited this restaurant yesterday because I ve heard many good things about it. However, I felt it was overhyped. I love West Indian food so I was really excited to try! I got the curry goat, jerk chicken, a side order of oxtail and patties. The patties were honestly the best thing out of everything I ordered. There were really no deep flavours, nor was there much spice to their food; the oxtail could have been softer as well. I ll come back for patties, but for the rest of the food, I m not so sure

Probably the cheapest filling meal you can get, I have never had or even heard of a $5 ox tail soup before coming here. Every dish is packed with so much flavour, I accidentally ate a whole Scotch bonnet in my soup and it scorched so good. Cash only because you can literally get some of their best items with pocket change.

Awful on almost every level. Im not sure why this place has good reviews. Food: I ordered a patty with coco bread and coleslaw with a side of plantain. The bread was dry/stale. The beef patty was all flake - so dry - and barely any filling. If it wasnt for the coleslaw, the sandwich wouldve been inedible. Plantain was ok. Service: A bare minimum service kind of place where the cashier is the same person preparing your meal. No napkins, but a roll of paper towel and a box full of forks. At least the straws were packaged. Pricing looks like its been increased quite a bit over the last year with the plantain being almost double in price. I paid over $10 for everything. Atmosphere/cleanliness: This place reminded me of a gas station bathroom. A place so dirty looking makes it really hard not to imagine the worst about the quality of food. The cashier did use gloves to handle the cash, but I would almost have it the other way around. No thanks!

Heard so many great things about Allwyns and especially excited to try the stuffed sandwich since theres been so much hype about it but all that quickly dissipated into disappointment the moment we got there after driving all the way from downtown to grab a meal. The place looks a bit dilapidated and like its running on 1985 technology as they punched in my order on a manual cash register and told me they only take cash AFTER I PLACED MY ORDER???!!! No heads up no sign about only taking cash?? Maybe put a sign out front or update the archaic website and to let patrons know its cash only MF its 2024!!!??? and the store operates like its behind by 40 years

I come here for the coco bread jerk chicken, one of my staple spots. Not somewhere you want to dine in at however the food never disappoints.

Been coming here for longer than Id like to admit, when they started at their old location. Prices have gone up, but its still worth it, jerk chicken sandwich with coleslaw on coco bread is my go to order. Not really space for dine in.

Went to get stuffed jerk chicken sandwich with entire store empty and they mess up order and didn t add coleslaw when I said to add coleslaw when asked. Very disappointed to find that out when I got home and not in store called to see if they would do anything about it and they said come back and we will give the coleslaw when I am 20mins away won t be going back for a while, would recommend Stacy island flavour instead much better sandwich.

Just received a delivery order of jerk pork dinner . Dry like sawdust. No gravy to moisten it up at all (I guess i was supposed pay extra for any gravy at all , I saw the extra gravy option but didn t realize that if I dont pay extra I get no gravy ) plus the delivery driver carried it around with no hot bag . The restaurant should ensure that the driver puts it in a hot box immediately, especially in winter . Fail all around

The patties here are better than their new location in Vaughan

Best beef patties in the GTA; chicken patties were ok. Patties are overall perfect spice with great crust. Wings are ok...may need a sauce over it to give more kick. The chicken jerk meal is excellent.

One of the best Jerk spots in the city. The jerk chicken is boneless and tastes amazing, make sure to ask for the ox tail gravy on top. Cash only is a bit inconvenient though.

Great all around! Maybe if there were a few small chairs in the front to eat at that would be great. The food was amazing, great prices, and so much choice. My favorite is the ox trail, but the coco bread with patty, roti curry, Jeri chicken sandwich were also delicious. Highly recommend and will return.

Allwyn s is an institution. I ve had it more times than I can count and never get tired of it, always delicious. Unbelievable value. Check out the jerk wings on Fridays and Saturdays. The jerk pork is occasionally a little dry but it s such an unforgiving cut I don t blame them.

Came by today for 2 jerk chickens with rice and peas and it was really good, the portion is absolutely big and filling. Staff is very friendly definitely going back.

It was disgusting. I ve had scotty bons amd others. There was no care in the food prep. Jerk pork was card board, beef patties are corner store quality, wings are big meaty and pretty good bit salty. Cole slaw is basic as basic gets. Asked for gravy - none. Dry everything, nothing succulent or worth it. Ruined dinner. Shoild have thrown it out.

Straight up disgusting . As a REAL Jamaican this is not Jamaican food and they are not even Jamaican -_- in there . My stuffed patty was cold and it was trash , flavours lacked - get a better patty at a ttc subway . Taste like the jerk seasoning from presidents choice on the chicken .Wouldn t recommend . Allwyns is the best jerk chicken in the GTA, bar none. This location in particular is old school - no ubereats/skipthedishes, CASH ONLY, so be ready. You can call and place order ahead. All of this are minor inconveniences given how amazing the food is. Get extra gravy on the side too.

A STAPLE. DELICIOUS. ALWAYS FRESH. Cash only which is a downfall, but oh well. This place has a repeat customer with me, and I m sure many patrons. Cute little store with a family-operated vibe about it. I ll start by saying the food was FANTASTIC. The patty was amazing though I was really disappointed by them not having any mild patties. I ve taken away a star because while the food and space itself had a family-operated vibe, the employees were not the same. The first employee, she was nice and helpful, but the second girl was less than nice. We realized the order was about $10 more then it should ve been and instead of helping us figure it out she said no. That s the price. $28. No. It s right. Until we eventually said everything we ordered and she reluctantly said, oh. and finally changed it. Every person in that line, three groups, had something missing or wrong with their order. The person in front of us was missing the patty in the sandwich, we had an extra sandwich, and the guy behind us wanted mild patties and they only had spicy. Also, if you re going, the prices have increased quite a bit on the sandwiches and some other menu items. Anyways, despite all that, I will definitely go back, and I will definitely recommend this spot to people. :)

Amazing jerk chicken in the GTA!!

Honestly I use to go to this place all the time, awesome jerk chicken sandwiches, But Im really disappointed with the curry goat and the curry chicken. It was way too dry, no flavor and bitter. It changed alot since the last time I went there awhile back.

Second time Ive ordered the large jerk pork meal on uber. The meal description says it comes with gravy and Ive only ever received completely dry rice & pork. I even asked for extra gravy and got nothing. It was absolutely dry... Its also not an option buy gravy anywhere on the menu ~ does it even exist? Food

Ive been following since minute one since the old man ran it from parkwoods Plaza to Underhill. A lot has changed over the years as the food is not the same. The only thing going for them is the stuffed patty and coco bread. The chicken is 100% processed now at least back in the day it was dark meat and fresh same with the bread. Nothing is forever as the saying goes. Parking: There is tons of parking for your vehicle. Wheelchair accessibility: This place is wheelchair accessible for customers.

Love it just used to be a lot better back in the day. Try the homemade hot sauce!

This place must have been bought out from the original owners and sold to some Indians. Not only is the food garbage now but these people have no business running such a reputable establishment. Food taste like garbage, guy at the cashier can barely speak English, the girl grabbing the food grabbed my patties with her bare hands. If you want to eat garbage and people touching your food with their hands then go here. These people are dirty!

OMG! Fantastic Carribean Food!!! The jerk chicken wings are so good, the ox tail is so tender and flavourful! Rice and peas and coleslaw is good! Vegetarian Roti was amazing! The jerk pork stuffed sandwich was so tasty. I have been going to Allwyn s for over 8 years. So Good!! Give it a try!!

First time trying Jamaican food and loved every bit of it! The jerk chicken was fantastic with perfect seasoning and smoke to it and not over burdened with excessive flavours.

Wow this place has some of the best jerk chicken and patties I ve ever had. With very reasonable prices too. Not really a dine in place (just a few seats) so consider it as take out only (and cash only).

Probably my favourite sandwich in the city! I know this is quite the claim but I m not exaggerating. Got the stuffed jerk chicken sandwich which comes with jerk chicken and coleslaw that is placed in a sliced open beef patty which is all placed inside a coco bread. The jerk chicken is nice and juicy with that incredible jerk spice and the coleslaw adds a nice creamy texture. The coco bread is nice and soft as well, while the patty part adds a subtle additional texture. I asked for spicy but it wasn t really spicy but I m not complaining! Overall, I very highly recommend picking up this sandwich.

Consistently very happy with the jerk pork dinners from Allwyns. LOTS of meat, awesome flavour / spice, excellent rice & peas - comes with coleslaw. The small size is plenty, good value. The jerk pork sandwiches in made-on-site coco bread are great too. Been going there for years. This is essentially a take-out only location, but its always busy. Cash only (no debit / credit).

I don t even need to contribute to the overwhelmingly positive reviews of this place because it s popularity speaks for itself. This is THE best place to get jerk chicken in the city and I challenge someone to argue against me.

I had the jerk chicken sandwich and a spicy beef patty. Both were well enjoyed. I will definitely return for some more and recommend this place to others. I also look forward to trying other items on the menu.

Aug2023, new menu board with prices raised again. Best jerk for in the city!! They cater to the medium to high pepper taste buds. There are all sorts of other amazing dishes and jerk wings on the weekends as well as different types of soup. One downside, they only take cash. Open late most nights. Been coming in and out of here since they opened at Parkwoods (in the late 1990s n early 2000s). Jerk Chicken Sandwich with Island Soda is always a MUST. Owners and staff have a different type of hospitality I dont see in many places. Will keep coming back!

RE: Queen Street Location - Im happy to bump my original 3-star rating from four-years ago to a 4-star rating after my most recent visit. This was my first visit back since and I can say that there has been a noticeable improvement. The staff is still amazing as per my original review - the improvement was in their food.

I ordered the jerk pork with jerk chicken over rice and peas and it was absolutely tasteful. The meats were correctly seasoned and had a great spice to it where it was just the right amount. The man and woman infeont were very very friendly. The price and portion was reasonable. I will definitely be back.

The food is really good. The people who work here have been always very nice and courteous every time I order food. The quality of the food is really good, it feels like fresh homemade food. Tasty and plenty. If you are looking to have a nice warm meal and dont want to spend much money, this is the place. I work nearby and have lunch here once or twice a week.

The food was not edible, oxtail was tough and gravy was clumpy with no flavour. The curry goat was also not edible, goat pieces were weird and tough, meat was totally garbage, plantain was over ripe and mashy. Rice and Peas was ok again no flavour. Patties: Very excellent crust, how a patty should be, however needs more meat filling as all I could taste was the crust. Please do better with the food, check it and taste it and ensure its edible. I could never serve that and be proud.

This place is the best jerk chicken sandwich in the city. Honestly all their stuff is great. Don t @ me bro. I ve been going to allywns for 15+ years. They probably fed me more meals in highschool than my parents. I live hella far but I still visit this spot whenever I m in the area. Just go try this place, you won t be disappointed.

I had the jerk chicken sandwich and it was great! I also tried the jerk pork but I found that a little dry as it was over-cooked. Their patties are the best! I buy them by the dozen and freeze them and I can say that they freeze quite well if you use freezer bags. Cant wait to try the wings (you have to call ahead as they are not available every day - I think just Friday thru Sunday).

They only accept cash, we were gonna buy and try more but we didn t have enough cash lol. Jerk Chicken sandwich was ok, not too spicy. Patty & coco bread was ok too, patty tasted like Patty King haha. Coco bread is ok. The place is okay, they have different kinds and colours of barstools and chairs haha. Bob Marleys on the wall. The place looks dated but the are lots of people coming in to get rice meals and sandwiches. Good for quick snacks. Will I try it again? I don t think so coz it s a lil far from my place and we only Googled Jamaican Patty and this is the only place open on Sundays around my area, maybe if we come by the are, I will try again.

Fall2023: one of the best sandwiches Ive come across in the GTA and excellent value too. I often order the stuffed jerk pork sandwich (with a Jamaican patty) plus coleslaw. The jerk chicken sandwich and home made soup are very good too. To avoid disappointment, come prepared as this place is CASH only. Parking: Strip mall with plenty of free parking spaces.

I love this restaurants food, I cannot speak on the ambience and service as I ve never dined there yet but it s my go-to Jamaican place for delivery. Been ordering from here for YEARS and I taste the love put into their food. I m just really sad that they never have chicken patties anymore (I don t eat beef) :( I fell in love with them ever since I tried them but now when I check they re only beef available please bring them back !! :) Thank you for your amazing consistent food over the years and happy holidays from our family to yours !! <3
