This is the portion of their bento box, I couldn’t believe I paid 18 bucks for it 😅 Is the soy sauce a standalone appetizer? I was only 30% full (that said, 70% hungry) after finishing this bento box set.
Quality fresh sushi at a decent price with good service on top. Even my very picky Japanese husband was impressed. We went specifically because it's the only place we could find that had kazunoko on the menu, but we were pleasantly surprised how good it was overall. Worth the 1hr 15min TTC ride to get there!
I just had dinner at Kaga and I think I have found my favourite sushi restaurant. It is by far the best that I have ever had. The miso soup is seriously out of this world and be quality of the sushi is as amazing. I would seriously recommend anyone and everyone who lives in the area to come and try this restaurant even though it can be considered pricey. Definitely one of the few 10/10s in my books, I’m definitely coming back for more.
[Sept 2024] Overall 3.5/5.0. We were seated in the upper level and the service was slow. Miso soup was too salty for my tastes. They forgot to add dressing to the garden salad (for our table, as well as for the large party near us). Ordered Chriashi Don entré ($32) and Sushi entré ($28). Chriashi was almost 5/5. Good quality and generous portions of fish. Sushi entré was okay. It was 9 pieces of nigiri and "chef's choice of rolls" which disappointingly just happened to be California rolls.. not worth it. The nigiri itself was good though, but would not order this again and would not recommend. I would definitely get something else next time. They provided ice cream on the house at the end (mango, red bean, and matcha) and there's a discount if you pay with cash. There's free parking in the plaza with ample parking spaces.
We have not visited this restaurant together years. We surprised that they are serving very good quality of lunch bento menu. Both beef and salmon teriyaki bento are well made. Bentos are also included a hot Miso soup. The service is excellent. We will try other dishes, sushi combo later.
I ordered through uber eats for thier BOGO special. These are two rainbow rolls. It feels like they put some leftover fishes on my roll and I can't trust its freshness.. and portion of fishes on rolls are...... ridiculous. I have never had this kind of rainbow rolls ever. Even all you can eat restaurant makes it much better. really BAD BAD.
The ingredients here are so fresh! The food is delicious, and the service is especially friendly. They recommended sashimi that was both fresh and tasty, and also paired it with soup and a small bowl salad. The uni and eel sushi were my favorites here. The uni had a slightly sweet taste, and the grilled eel melted in my mouth on the first bite, although the sauce on top was a bit strong for me, but it was still delicious. We wanted to stay longer to try other items, but had to leave early on that night. Nonetheless, the owner was very kind and even packed some ice cream for us as we left. Highly recommended—I will definitely come back!
Surprising little place hidden away on Finch between Leslie and Bayview. Was recommended and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered a whole fish to be sashimi'd, Kaga roll, and oshizushi . The roll was decent sized and very delicious. Not filled with cucumber as many other places do to fill you up. This place is so generous with their ingredients. The fish is pretty fresh not like the others with frozen or bad quality fish. The reason why I really enjoyed this place is because the owner is super nice. The staff are so welcoming even though they were overwhelmed at one point. Really took care of us even though it was our first time and not regulars. What sets the cherry on top is the dessert that was on the house. It seemed like every table gets it. Three ice cream flavors, one scoop each - that's three scoops of ice cream per person!!! That's unheard of!!! You'd have to go to ayce eat to get that. Thank you for being an amazing owner/manager. And thank you for running an amazing business for us to enjoy.
We drove 40mins to try this. It is sooooooo bad!!!! It s not fresh!!!!! The uni taste is horrible ..it s gross no service at all .
Lunch portion was very small. Only one staff working during lunch and was mostly ignored. Had to ask for tea a few times.
Came here for lunch recently and found the sashimi was very fresh and tempura was perfect. Would definitely come back and recommend!
Good food quality, bad experience. We had reservations for 2 on 6:45pm and arrived on time but still waited 15mins. Then we waited about 10 mins for the waiter to pass us the many. We have been waiting the food from 7 to 8, and they still ask us to wait. I don t understand how could it be such a long waiting. Will never come back again.
Great spot for a lunch break! I enjoyed the $12 lunch special, which was filling and excellent value. Service was quick, and the indoor seating area was clean and comfortable. Perfect for a tasty, efficient meal.

The sushi rolls are huge, the fish sashimi is so delicious, and the black truffle prawns and eggs are so delicious! The key point is that the price-performance ratio is super high
We were disappointed with the sushi, despite the quality of the fish and rice. We visited for lunch and found that the octopus sashimi was not fresh; it tasted as if it had been frozen for a long time. Additionally, the presentation of the hand roll was poor, and its flavor was lacking. Even the salad was overly sweet. When we received the bill, we noticed we were charged for Japanese uni without any prior notice. When I asked the server about this, she explained that the local uni was sold out. As for the pricing, it seemed reasonable.

Food portions were decent for the price but quality were subpar, still better than AYCE. Dont expect much service but it wasnt great. I had to ask for tea refill and rice which should have came with my order. Manager/Owner is loud at bossing his staff around the entire time.

Have been visiting few times for sashimi & sushi, fish was not top quality, but acceptable. Friendly service, reasonable price for the quality of food. This becomes my regular visit restaurant for sashimi and hot Japanese dishes. New sushi chef picked the good quality fish for sashimi and Most importantly at a reasonable price. Will visit more often
Good variety of choices for set lunches and very reasonably priced. Not top quality but at least their fish is fresh.
Food quality: fresh and very good. Very busy place in the weekend. Best to make reservation for weekend lunch to avoid long waiting to be seated. Price is reasonable. Promotion and good deals in bento boxes may catch you in surprise. Very friendly service. Ideal for brief lunch or dinner. Fully recommended! Vegetarian options: California rolls and veggies tempura, etc are available.

Weve ordered their sushi tray here before. The price is decent and the sushi is fresh. Weve tried ordering again in the past, but the orders always get cancelled. I guess theyre busy, which is good for them. We finally decided to dine in. We ordered the following: 1. salmon set (4 pieces of salmon sushi, 4 pieces of salmon sashimi and 6 pieces of salmon maki) includes soup, salad and ice cream - $14 There was a fish scale in one of the Maki roll. 2. pork cutlet Bento box, includes soup, salad and ice cream - $10 For the amount youre getting, the price is very cheap. Overall, the place and washroom is clean. Staff are patient.

Ordinary Japanese cuisine decor, extraordinary service and taste. The way sushi chef prepped the fish was an art, it wouldn t taste the same if it wasn t this particular sushi chef.
Went in to ask for takeout. Was told they close at 4:30pm. The time is currently 2:45pm.
Lunch bento boxes are the best deal and the waitresses are very nice. Can get very busy at times so try to come before/after the rush! Edit: visited this place post covid. The place hasnt changed much. Does get busy around lunch. There is only 1 waiter so there can be a wait when it gets busy. I still get the lunch bento boxes, the cod fish and salmon are delicious!
Fine food, Wonderful service. I was surprised the miso soup and ice cream was on the house. We ordered sushi, Ramen, grilled squid and grilled black cod. Very nice and clean environment to din in.

This place is terrible. Granted, the price is cheap relatively but with Japanese food, especially sushi, you get what you paid for. We got the sushi bento box and the sushi does not seem to be fresh. The miso soup is blend. There was only one server even though he is working as fast as he can, the service is still slow. Its almost impossible to find parking on weekends during rush hours. Parking: Terrible, not enough parking during busy days/hours. Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible.
my family come here regularly for lunch, friendly service and good price. We had dinner there for special occasions. we enjoy the raw beef plate and whole fish slice like an art piece.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Toronto. Sushi is fresh, cooked dishes tasty. You can order special whole fish sushi ahead of time. Try this restaurant out and you ll be hooked.
For our first visit, we waited at the front for about five minutes with no server on sight at around 8:15pm. We were then turned away stating that they closed at 8pm today instead of 9pm.
Ordered: 1) Tonkotsu Ramen -Soup base too blant -Ramen too soft 2) Eel Dragon Roll Sat inside = Zero cell signal
For the price they charge, the food is plenty and tasty. Sushi is fresh. Love the lunch special bentos. They always offer us ice-cream after the meal which is rare for restaurants to do these days.

I came in to ask for spicy mayo and was greeted by an extremely rude server. He made rude and disturbing comments to me and to my friend when she went back inside. He started yelling but immediately stopped when a older man came in. I was extremely disappointed and even lost my appetite. His behaviour and attitude is completely unhinged.
I came here as a recommendation from a family friend. We had come for a special occasion. The ambience was fitting for a Japanese sushi restaurant. We were well received by staff, it did not appear overly busy but as soon as we sat down there were many guests coming in. The beef tataki was delicious, very fresh sashimi, and rolls the size of my fist. The quality of ingredients amazing. We had ordered a bottle of sake as well even though there is short supply. Overall great experience 10/10 would recommend.
Fish is very fresh with good quality. Sushi is good too. Tempura is so yummy. The service is also very friendly. Ill be back again to try the other items.

This is for the takeout menu, which is completely different from the dine in one. Overall, its an average takeout sushi joint. The rolls were poorly wrapped, with deform pieces and rice falling off. Sashimi was average, nigiri had unstable rice and nothing stood out. The price for quantity is the best thing about this place.

Love this Restaurant , very tradisional autentic japanis place , food was amazind , service famtastic , Raymon the waiter was aweson, No is evething you can eat , like i was looking for , restaurant is small and very simple .
Dine in. I ordered chirashi sushi but most of the fish are overly fishy and cut too thick. The worst part is the tuna which is cut along the grain and made it very very chewy. The tempura is excellent which made a couple points back. I had to ask for extra pickle ginger to cleanse my palate just from how fishy the sashimi were.

Amazing local jaunt for my parents and every once in a while, I tag along too. The chef is AMAZING with some of the off-menu offerings, based on what is fresh. Udon noodles are also delicious.
Kaga has no kaga combo. Sushi roll is too small. Spent $100 didnt feel satisfied. 4 star for the service.

November 2022 Update: Name changed back to Ginza, this is the flagship store, where this brand started. Known for freshness, value, and caring service. I ordered a large sashimi, sushi and rolls platter. Quantity is predominant, assortment is less lustre. Freshness is there, but the sushi rice is too moist to my liking, no hamachi on this plate, no premium fish. I will try the whole fish and sashimi la carte next. The soya sauce is too dark, and might not have been seasoned, it drowns out the taste of the fish, instead of enhancing the freshness and delicate sweetness of fishes. I recommend that you change your soya sauce, needing high tasting notes. We ordered take out, I will try dine in next, nice decor and ambiance. Kudos to the staff. Caring staff, experienced restauranteur. Fresh fish, crispy tempura, highly recommend

The first time I ate there, I mistook the soy sauce pot as teapot and poured some into the cup as refill. The food there is usually of high quality. The salad is tasty. The service is usually good and friendly. The set lunches are good priced. I hope the sashimi can be sliced a bit thicker.

This place isnt very big and it actually got quite busy before 6pm already. We walked in and were seated at the bar. We ordered the chirashi bowl and black cod set dinner that came with miso soup, salad and ice-cream. We had a great experience with both the service and food. Definitely worth checking out.

First time ordering from here - trying to find local restaurants to support during COVID. Got the 100 piece mixed party platter. Fish was actually very fresh and the person on the phone (perhaps the owner) was very kind. For the price they re charging and compared to other sushi places at this price point, this place is great!! If anything, it s a few dollars cheaper AND better than other places.

I come here often for takeout only. Never dined in before. I always get the party tray C or D. 10% off if you pay cash. Not the best quality but very good value for what you get. If you just want to taste some sushi but dont care about perfect hand rolls with thin layers of rice, def come here if youre in the area.

I asked for no dressing on my salad, but the waiter brought it with salad anyway. The chicken teriyaki lacked flavour, and there was barely any sauce to put over the rice. There is a 10% discount if you pay cash.
Sushi is good, but very unprofessional that they charge a higher price for their trays than what is listed on their website, and do not honor the prices they publish. A reputable business would maintain their pricing, and honor what they publish if its outdated. They told me their website pricing is four years old?!?!
Love the lunch specials here! Great value for money and good quality. The service is also very friendly. I had a crying baby the whole time and the servers were not annoyed or wanted to rush me to get out so I didnt disturb other guests. They were patient when I tried to calm my baby and order at the same time. Ill be back again to try the other lunch items.

Was a bit disappointed by the food considering this place had glowing reviews. We ordered the Sushi Dinner which includes a chefs special roll. The most disappointing part was when we found out the chefs roll was just a California roll. Spicy salmon roll could be spicer. I also ordered the Unagi roll but found the eel to be a bit dry. I also didnt like mayo in my Unagi roll but thats a personal preference.

From the food quality perspective, the restaurant is reasonable. However, the service provided by the waiter is very lousy. He made rude comments when we ordered. The extremely unfortunate part is that he probably did not realized. We ordered 12 pieces of Toro for 8 people. He quickly reacted with Oh, it is $10 a piece, are you sure? He made many other disturbing comments and I started wondering how could he get the job. Im not going to try to figure out and shall never go back
This place a must goto for those private events and small gatherings. The sushi selection is very in unique and the craftsmanship is one of the best in town. Raymond will take care of you really well.
