Katsuya is a modern take on the traditional Japanese Cutlet House. We serve authentic homemade Japanese Katsu with a variety of these sauces, Katsuya will be releasing new interpretations of the famous Japanese dish.
Ever so close to a perfect experience, if not only for an isolated circumstance that happened during our time eating there. I love the concept of this Japanese fusion restaurant. They have fun, interestingly crafted meals. Two of which we had ordered are the Carbonara Udon $17.50 and the Brick Cheese Katsu $22.90. The meals are not only cool and exciting, but the taste of the food can also properly back up the gimmick. The Carbonara Udon has creamy carbonara sauce and comes with 2 tempura pieces. For the Brick Cheese Katsu, I ordered the Gold & Silver Katsu to be able to sample both the Cheddar cheese wrapped inside the pork loin (Gold Katsu), as well as the Mozzarella cheese which is the Silver Katsu. It is a great combination of hot, fried food with a cheesy, creamy filling. Service was honestly a mixed bag. On many occasions, we found ourselves having trouble getting the waiters' attention because the staff are situated at the far back of the narrow restaurant. It was a good thing thay the staff are very courteous. They attended to and took care of an isolated request we had during the time we were there. The menu may be a bit more pricey compared to other similar establishments. Almost all of the meals start off at the $20 range.
I had a specific craving for creamy udon and the Carbonara Udon satisfied that! Udon noodles were perfectly tender and carbonara was creamy, not too heavy. Karage was crispy, yet juicy and comes with wasabi mayo on the side. Will come back to try katsu next time!
I've been here on and off throughout the years and the katsu is still very delicious, consistent, and same portions. This location is probably one of the least crowded for dine-in, with most of the traffic going to takeout orders. The whole front of restaurant is serviced by 1 worker, who takes orders, delivers dine-in and takeout orders, and does the cash register. The dine-in service is a bit slower, but not bad since they make katsu fresh. Note that they only allow for 1 refill of rice.
Best Katsuya disc in town. This little restaurant is packed. Service is fantastic.
I ordered food though Uber Eat. The foods still arrive warm and tasty. But I suggest to have them at the restaurant for freshness due to the nature of deep fried food. The sauces are awesome.
The best Tonkatsu in Toronto. 🍤🍱 We enjoyed the appetizers, which are Takoyaki and Chicker Karake. The food was amazingly delicious. Also, the Carbonara udon was so great. The thick udon and the carbonara sauce were great together. It served with shrimp tempura, which was very crispy. Moreover, we are impressed with the service and the cleanliness of this restaurant. They gave the welcome drink to the kid, and they served Miso soup for free. It's totally recommended. 👌
I came here for lunch with my family. We came here on a holiday, Victoria Day, so it was quiet. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The portion sizes were generous for the price, so definitely come here if you are hungry. As for the food, we ordered: - takoyaki - honey fries - teriyaki mayo chicken katsu - supreme original pork katsu - original pork katsu Overall, the food tasted great. I enjoyed it and so did my family. When it comes to the location itself, the tables were a decent size for the large plates, and the seating was comfortable. I will say though, the table was a bit sticky, so I avoided putting my hands on the table. When it comes to the washrooms, they are quite small and tightly packed together. Also, their soap dispenser was out of order, so hopefully they fix that soon.
This is my first time visiting this Katsuya location. Since I’ve been to their NY/DT location I have no hesitation in recommending this place to my friend and decided to give it a try together. And our overall experience was terrible. First of all, I’ve never seen a restaurant table sticky like that. It feels oily and really dirty. We asked for the server to clean the table which she did, and we as a customer had to use our wet tissue to clean it again and again STILL DIRTY. Second, the food was disappointing as well. We ordered the katsu udon, it was tasteless. The soup base was not seasoned at all. The tempura shred in the soup was terrible, fish cakes, carb meats, tasted nothing like they should have tasted. And yes it’s a $20 Udon, we felt being ripped off. Miso soup was a joke, it was just water plus salt, where is exactly the miso???? Last, we had a bad stomachache once we got home. I think because we both tried the Udon I am personally really really really concerned about the safety of the food in this place. Will not be back again.
Love The Boneless Wings,
Staff are very courteous and helpful. The food was really good, my friends and I ate every last bite.
A hair came out of an acquaintances pork cutlet, so I told the server and they took the food back and said they would make it again. I was eating my own food while waiting for my friends food, and a bug came out of my cheese cutlet. After clearly confirming that it was a bug, I told the server that the parsley was burnt because the cheese was hot. It was a small ant with its head, chest, stomach, mouth and legs visible. However, even when the food first came out, there was no heat in it and the cheese on the cheese cutlet was hardened. After a while, the server took our food back and said they would make it again if we ate it a little longer, but they came back a while later and told us that only the two menu items we ordered were out of stock and that we should change to another menu. If the menu I took first because of my hair was sold out, shouldnt I have come back a long time ago and said it was sold out? After a while, after all the talk about the bugs coming out, I came back and said it was out of stock, and even though it was collected, it wasnt recooked for a long time. Im really disappointed with the servers ridiculous response. If possible, I would just eat it, but it was unpleasant so I just didnt eat it. I recommend going only to those who dont mind hair and bugs coming out of their food.
We went there and were seated, no verbal communication whatsoever no one asked us if we wanted anything. There was zero customers and they managed to avoid taking our order until it got awkward and we just left. Total waste of time considering we drove here from 45 minutes away for it.
Always my to go to place for the perfect creamy tonkatsu
Food was delicious! Takoyaki is the best
If you re a Katsu lover in Canada, this place is a must-visit! My favorite Katsu spot by far, and I m especially in love with their Spicy Carbonara Red Katsu. It s perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of kick and creamy richness from the carbonara sauce. Absolutely mouthwatering! The portion size is generous, and the flavors are balanced beautifully. I can t recommend this dish enough definitely a 10/10!
We came in at 9pm said they close at 11 but the server won t allow us to sit on the back area cause he needs to close. We ask what time they close he said 10:45. What bull crap you should allow customer to sit where they want!!!
I wish I could give zero stars. I dined a few days ago, and it has been an absolute nightmare since. Shortly after eating, I developed severe food poisoning that landed me in the hospital. I ve been dealing with an upset stomach and nausea for three straight days, which has been a painful and distressing experience.
The food arrives extremely slowly! You have to wait at least half an hour to get your order. Dont come here if youre starving, you might feel like youre dying!
Be careful about ordering on ubereats. If you cancel your order even one minute after ordering they will say they prepared the food and charge you for it. Even after Uber called them to ask if they really prepared it. They keep the food and do what with it idk. Im never ordering from this restaurant again
This place used to be my favourite spot to eat! I was so disappointed with the entire service today. My family and I get there and wait a long period of time to get our order taken while the server was busy talking over the phone, he had headphones on and ignored us the entire time while waiting. The table behind us was dirty and was not cleaned from the people that were previously there. It was dirty and disgusting to see the entire place to in such conditions. After waiting for so long our server who is the same guy who ignored us, proceeded to take our order while he was still on a call with the headphones. We ordered 2 DIET COKES and 3 Red chicken carbonara. A few minutes goes by and he comes back with a Coke Zero and a Canadian drink, we proceed to tell him that we ordered 2 diet cokes and minutes afterwards our food finally comes and it is not the right order. We proceed to tell him and he says we did order that and so we tell him that we did not and is not possible to take customer orders properly if you have headphones on the entire time. We ended up leaving and not touching or eating anything because we were not gonna pay for something that we did not order after such bad service it s not worthy to come to this location at all. The servers and the staff does not care at all!!!
Good food, although it is pricy. My favorite was octopus balls. Free parking up front.
I have been ordering on Ubereats for a while and couldn t stop reordering the Pork Katsu! The service has been amazing and I am grateful for the effort when packing and making my order! Ty for the notes, it made my dinner taste even better Thank you Katsuya Yorkdale Team!
The Japanese style Katsuya is the best in the city!
We found a cockroach eating scraps on our table before we got the bill. The waiter was unbothered and the restaurant didn t offer any deduction/compensation. The tables are sticky and have food scraps on them. The dishes and water jugs are sticky and unclean. During our meal our waiter suddenly ran out the front door and started coughing and hacking violently in front of the customers.
Its crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and plentiful.
Super overpriced for the small portions
smaller than the katsuya in mississauga but just as good!
Food was great Service not as good But the Washroom was Grose!! Food : 5/5
I ordered so many times from this location because it s the nearest katsuya but they always forget my drinks. Uber doesn t help either.
Love, authentic bentos, supreme chicken wings is incredible, wish it was stand alone on the menu! Love!
Its really tasty and good flavored, the place is nice and peaceful, and the services is great, nothing than u can complain, its not a fastfood court so u have to wait a regular time for a good and well done plate of food
If you are craving tonkatsu, this is the place. We love all their food. We ordered red carbonara pork loin, carbonara pork loin and croquet. For sure, we will return and try their other menus.
This is one of the best takoyaki I had ever tasted. I tried takoyaki in many restaurants but theirs is the best. I even bought here for my friend and was amazed how delicious their food are. Its highly recommended.
Second visit at this location. First time was good years ago. What a big difference. I know cost of food went up but portions got way smaller and prices jacked up. The food itself, I wouldnt say it was worth the money. Not the same anymore. Original katsu and a can of coke. $25. Thats steep. Plus for that quality I wouldnt pay more than $15. Sorry but thats my honest opinion. Most likely will be my last visit.
Staff is great and the service is immaculate. They re always looking out for my guests and I. Great atmosphere
Great service, really friendly, great response time and amazing staff. Would come back for another bite to get.
One of the best japanese restaurants Ive visited and its just 3 mins walk from my neighbourhood which is quite nice. Their food is amazing, lots of choices, staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the place is clean. I also love how they make their own katsuya panko (breadcrumbs). Highly recommended japanese restaurant to visit.
I went there with some friends and I was clearly disappointed by the quality of the food. There is no taste, heavy in fat, I couldn t even tell the difference between pork and chicken it s also expensive for what it is because clearly it s a fast food like. I m surprised about the ranking of this place, maybe as I m French my standards are higher I don t know Regarding the service, the poor waitress did what she could but she was clearly swamped, coming back to our table to comment that they don t have anymore sauce so we need to change our order Clearly and bluntly there won t be a second time for me.
Visited with a large group, and while I might have enjoyed it more under different circumstances, the service was notably slow. The waitress was kind, though, and they compensated for the wait with complimentary fries, which seemed more like a setup for the lengthy delay. However, the food was delicious, and the portions generous. Given the portion sizes and the quality, it felt worth the wait and the price.
Amazing donkatsu. I forgot how delicious this could be and you get a large portion for a cheap price! Highly recommend going here! So many different flavours to choose from as well! Kid-friendliness: They gave my niece a free juice box and she loved the soup so when she asked for more, they were so kind and gave her some! They were so friendly with her, we will definitely come back!
I will not understand how this place has 4.5 star out of 5, the food was soo not worth the money at all. Not only is this place expensive but the food literally looks like chicken strips with BBQ sauce. I was better off going to Burgerking at that point! Also this food did not fill me up at all, the portions are so small for what you are paying for. Everything to me was a 1 star except for the service!
Looks so pretty led light! It was amazing food too! Try it ASAP! Food : 5/5
I always loved going to katsuya however my boyfriend and I came in and ordered the red carbonara fish katsu and both got food poisoning from it. Not to mention that fish was extremely extremely dry. This was the first time I ve gotten food poisoning from katsuya but now I m scared to try it again.
Good food.
Rather mediocre in terms of value
This place puts soul into the food. I love food from around the world but I would live on this food. Just, Amazing.
I got the White Snow Spicy Katsu with cheese Katsu, and was impressed with the amount and stretchiness of the cheese. The Katsu was crispy, sauce is a nice level of spice, and it also comes with rice, soup, salad. The croquettes didnt look as expected (round balls), but is so delicious. For a table of 3 people - 2 appetizers, 3 Katsu entrees, total came to about $75 after tax, tip, and 10% discount when paying in cash (January 16, 2023).
Been here a handful of times. No complaints with food but plenty of times they run out of their pickled side dish which I really look forward to is disappointing. Service sometimes doesn t feel welcoming. The lady will be cold, and then run to her co workers to laugh and have fun. Not a great look, which ruins the overall experience
The attitude is tremendously bad, the female staff is not welcoming and being really discriminated. Food is good but the attitude just ruined our appetites. Hope you guys take it seriously, the person I mention is a girl with a darker pink hair. Her name is So-Young I believe so.
I recommend the fries and takoyaki. Tasteful! Nice staff
Walk-in based on suggestions from Google. Did not disappoint. Considering it was our first experience with Japanese/Japanese Fusion. It was very tasty. The quality of the meal was superb. The plate presentation was very delightful. The staff was super friendly and had excellent recommendations of what we should try. I highly recommend the Garlic Chili Katsu. It was so delicious. The location itself is in a smaller plaza so the actual dining experience is more intimate. Would recommend.
The fried chicken and honey butter fries are delicious
Yeehyun is amazing ! So kind and friendly!
Cool spot, well worth the price which isnt even bad as other reviews make it seem.
My recent favorite finds very last minute. I tried the katsu after a really long time... and my God, they absolutely tickled my foodie tastebuds! Must try ... Not a great dine-in option if youre looking for it, but undoubtedly for delicious foods and great portions! Cheese crabmeat croquettes and Takoyaki are stars from the menu. Im definitely going back for more!
Came here today for the first time and really enjoyed it! I had the curry katsu with chicken, it included a starter soup, and had rice and cabbage on the side! Service was friendly and the food was tasty!
Filling dinner for 2 under $50. Friendly staff with good knowledge of the menu and great recommendations. Portions were fair sized but not overfilling. I went for Udon and was happy with my order. Ordered Katsuya Udon, Teri Mayo Katsu and extra Pork Loin Katsu. Will definitely come back.
Tried this place on a whim and was NOT disappointed! The dish we had was so good that Im looking forward to going back and having another.
My friend brought me here for dinner and the food was amazing! It was a real delight! Happy tummy! Im gonna bring my kids here and its highly recommended for everyone!
My favorite Katsuya location, food is always consistent and service is always great. Takoyaki is a must try
Its a good place to have a Japanese meal. The food was really good. The price is really reasonable. The service was fine. The place is a bit not too organized.
Just ordered through uber eats and the food was amazing! My kids loved it! Great portions & everytjing tasted so fresh. Would definitely order again 10/10
The food was amazing and the portion sizes were fantastic! The red carbonara that I had was shockingly amazing. I knew it would be good but it was past my expectations.
I brought my family here to try this chain. Good value for the portions, consistent with the other locations in the GTA. Made fresh to order, the Katsu is fresh and crispy. The waitress didnt give us much time to look at the menu and asked us 3 times without the first 20 minutes. Also, the booths were a little bit uncomfortable for my father who has long legs - they only have booth seating. Overall good experience
Topokki was awesome, the Chicken Karaage was also good.
Katsu is so so, the sauce is really sour, pork loin didn t marinade well, very little portion of rice, definitely won t back again
This place has amazing food! I love the service and the cleanliness!
My go-to spot for chicken katsu! The chicken is always so tender and I am in love with their original sauce. I am also obsessed with the udon soup they give you for free before the meal. They have many options to choose from in terms of sauces and they also have the cheese filled katsu as well! Definitely recommend!
Love this place! This is our go-to restaurant. The katsu is perfectly cooked and it is huge. Friendly staff and nice ambience.
The food and service was great!
Everything was great ! Amazing service
Great spot to eat around Yorkdale! Honey fries are my fav appetizers and I highly recommend. Really clean restaurant and friendly staff.
Great atmosphere, great food and great service!!!! 10/10 would recommend!!!
Delicious! Really enjoy the sweet Chilli Katsu!
Excellent katsu! Good price too! Recommend!
Eating in was great! Super comfortable atmosphere and food was fresh and delicious. Been ordering out from Katsuya for a while now but eating-in made my experience with Katsuya so much better ! Will definitely be coming back and highly recommended
Food is fire. Quantity and quality.
We have been to many Katsuya but this was worst experience dirty table that is like months old stains which will stick to your skin and if you change the table they will be unhappy that we didnt ask before changing but they will not be sorry for dirty table or clean the new table (that was same sticky dirt but cleaner than first one) food is okay we enjoy katsuya staff deserves 0 star because we said we dont want pork in our orders even in sauces. She brings pork in our both orders (in sauces) and when we said we dont want pork because of allergy from the pork and the staff Jihees response was ok It will take another 20 mins I will change it. She could be at least sorry for feeding us something makes us sick but no. Worst experience and please checked your table well before you get that dirt from table on your skin!!!
This place is AWESOME!!! The food was great, service friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was casual but comfy! ABSOLUTELY recommended!!! My Fiancee and I got the japanese katsu and the gold and silver katsu and they were both so good! the honey fries were also a huge standout. we will definitely start coming here regularly after this meal!
You guys pack so poorly for take out and delivery orders :( Soups that come with Katsu leak in the bag all the time, making my hands and table dirty Would better not to give soups
I had high hopes for this place after the positive reviews. I went in August 2023. The food was fine. I didn t have high expectations for service and it was fine too. But what grossed me out was the large number of flies in the establishment. We sat near the window and at one point there were 7 flies parked there and more flying around, and they kept going around our food. This just really killed my appetite. I don t think I have ever gone to a place with that many flies.
We ordered for delivery and we got the karage chicken wings and there was no indication that it was spicy and we even requested that the spice be mild at most but they were unbearable. Way too spicy. It was inedible. Such an utter waste of money. The takoyaki was not very good either.
The chicken katsu was crispy and crunchy with the sauce on the side. I prefer it that way instead of being drenched in the sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the meal, and the portion size was decent. The only drawback I would say was that they were out of chicken karaage, and the menu is complicated since certain items are available at some locations. I would suggest creating a menu for your location for the items you serve. Why mix other location items in there and confuse your customers.
Need to update their hours on google. Says theyre open on fridays 1700-2300h, however when we got here at 1930h, the place was closed. Waste of time driving here
This is my go to spot. Or used to be. I don t know why they changed the opening hours to 5-10 pm. I always go here to get lunch and dinner. Now I won t go cause too much traffic during 5. What a shame.
i got their curry katsu and portions are massive!! not sure if im a big fan of their takoyaki tho otherwise, good Food : 4/5
I am a returning costumer and love this food, but today i was extremely disappointed. I got the pork loin which was almost all fat and was really not well cooked on the outside. The portions used to be two katsus, but now getting one katsu and 2 pieces of a second katsu only. Very unhappy with these changes.
Got food poisoning by udon
Food always is on point. Its always nice to try different flavours. The fish curry katsu is a must try!
This is the most underrated Katsuya. The best by far with consistency of the food. The carbonara katsu always has the right consistency and flavour unlike other locations. The service is always on point. It is a smaller location so if it s busy you will be stuck waiting to get a booth.
Thanks for staying open a little later until we finished our food that night. I ve had Katsuya in Scarborough as well as here and they always taste amazing. Love that the soup is also refillable!
It s my first time to visit this place. The ambience is great and my order was ready. I hope to dine in at this restaurant soon.
Spicy Carbonara katsu was a bomb and I was so touched by their warm customer service. Definitely recommend this place!
The waitress was amazing. She was so nice. Love this place. Discovered it by accident but what a discovery. Food is freshly made and so flavorful and yummy. To share, we ordered the Takoyaki (octopus balls). Yum! For our mains, I had the Curry Chicken Katsu and my friend had the Red Carbonara Iron. Both dishes were so good. We got complimentary miso soup (unlimited) and side cabbage salad and vinaigrette turnip. Definitely a fan and will be returning!!
I m a fan of Katsuya since I first tried their food. Their katsu is always freshly made and their sauces are delicious. My favourites are their carbonara and curry katsu. For today they gave us honey fries on the house. Haven t ordered that before because their meals are so filling already. The flavoured fries is so gooood. It s a must try. The staff in this location are so friendly too!
I ve been to different Katsuya locations in the GTA and this location has the best food and service! Their cheese katsu is to die for!
Any place that takes their breadcrumbs so seriously that they bake copious amounts of fresh bread in-house is a place worth visiting. Great cutlets with even greater variety of house made sauces and amazing crab croquettes. When it comes to Katsu, I especially like their curry, carbonara, and their Japanese traditional. Those with nut allergies, pay special attention, many sauces contain nuts.
Delicious Japanese fusion food chain at very affordable prices. The portion sizes are generous and flavors are amazing. A must visit for anyone that enjoys Japanese cuisine.
Not too bad, Since most of dishes are Katsu Katsu , so next time we will just order one main Katsu dish and share 1st. ( Finish one by myself is easy and I will give but not to finish another Half then both become ) Will we go again? Definitely! Great service The only thing we don t like is the sound of making dough Pia pia pia , not even finished after we left. Perhaps we went at the wrong hour 2nd visit- Udon portion not enough, not $. Curry Katsu, en regular. Croquettes are fine.
Great food, the service was a bit slow but other than that we had a good experience. Definitely will come again
Always really great Katsuya, I order from here consistently
3.5 Stars. I got the Silver Katsu. The food was pretty good, however, the noise was so bad. As we were eating the bakers keep banging the dough against the counter. It was really annoying. I couldnt hear my friend talking because the banging was so loud. Also it was a bit frightening at times because they would stop then the loud banging would just start again. I could tell other customers were bothered by it as well. It was good to try a new place but I dont know if Ill visit again. Also, service was fine, nothing extraordinary.
super crispy , best service, They are making own bread everyday, super interesting !!
Service was great. Food was great.
So happy with the result of this spontaneous visit. I ve always wanted to try this place out but the dishes look so small on the menu.. For anyone like me, check the photos. I have the size of a platter with my hand for reference. Got the garlic chilli cheese katsu and I was not disappointed. My partner got the Japanese Katsu, with the honeycomb sauce on the side because he likes his crispy food to stay crispy throughout the meal and it was a hit! Highly recommend this place for food
I ALWAYS order from this establishment on uber eats. I came in today with my partner to their restaurant for the first time and enjoyed the food as always. Only negative about the place is that their chefs are right beside the seating area, and today when we came in, it was constant LOUD slamming. The slams came from them kneading dough and slamming it on the counter. Aside from the ruckus, I think for now I ll continue to order out from uber eats, but personally I wouldn t come again to their restaurant. Didn t feel like a cozy atmosphere to me, personally. Love their food, I always get their four cheese, carbonara, and their honey butter fries. Thanks Katsuya
A picture speaks louder than words.... Try it out
The food was delucious. The cutlet was thick but so juicy. I really enjoyed my meal there. The staff was friendly and the service was great.
This is the second time we go to this rest as their food are so good. However, I think the staff may need to clean up a little bit more the dining area. There were dust in EVERYWHERE. In the window, the leather chair where people seat
I havent been to the other Katsuya locations, but this one is very nice. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious. The only drawback is the price. But considering the taste and quality of your food, the price is more justified.
WE TRIED: Brick Cheese Katsu (Gold & Silver) Carbonara Udon Cheese Crabmeat Croquette We always go for the brick cheese katsu and dunked in the zesty katsu sauce.. how can this not be DELICIOUS The katsu was super crispy, not oily or greasy and the cheese was so gooooey! Now, for the star of today s meal, the carbonara udon topped with perfectly deep fried, golden and crispy tempura .. this was truly PERFECTION The sauce had a good balance of creaminess and seasoning; where one did not overpower the other. Surprisingly i didn t find the udon HEAVY tasting! The fresh cream sauce was SO TASTY!! Between bites of the chewy udon and the crunch from the crispy shrimp tempura; this was creamy udon paradise Ofc the croquettes are a must whenever i m here!! Crispy on the outside then greeted by creamy mash potato mixed with crabmeat!! Katsuya is always a solid spot and this location lives up to my expectations.
Blend
Enjoyed Spicy Onion Chicken Katsu on a bed of cabbage in tsuyu sauce. Delicious! Meat was incredibly tender. Also highly recommend the Carbonara and Red Carbonara udon!
What a delicious dinner! My wife and I will most definitely be returning to this restaurant. We shared our meals and everything paired well together! If you are in the area, stop here and you will not be disappointed! Thank you Katsuya :)
I have never in my adult life walked out of a restaurant in the middle of a meal and not tip because of poor customer service. Soyoung, the waitress, constantly walked passed our table, lacked engagement and it took her quite a while to bring us our water and drinks while she eagerly helped other patrons. I really wanted to enjoy my meal and time there; however, my entire party felt as if we were a burden to Soyoung. This was our first time eating at this establishment and as I mentioned before, I had high hopes that we were going to have a great experience. Because of this, I will never step foot in another Katsuya again. Totally turned off from this restaurant.
So yummy!!
I used to like this place but lately they cut their portion into half and hike the price sky-high. They also stopped including miso soup with main order. There are many better restaurants around this area happy take me in as a new customer. So long..
I only order red carbonara with fish katsu in this restaurant. The taste is really good. However, for todays order, we did not get enough red carbonara sauce.
The food was delicious. I tried the Katsuya Original Pork Loin Katsu and the Takoyaki. Just these two were way too filling for one person to eat. It is slightly pricey, but worth it!
friendly staff, big portion for a good price. Highly recommended best place for katsu ive tried so far!
Sweet chili garlic chicken katsu: 4.5/5 Sweet chili garlic cheese tonkatsu (pork): 5/5 I was expecting the garlic chips to be crispy but they were soft and chewy and I didnt appreciate that. The portion was generous, the meat tender and crispy, the sauce perfectly sweet/spicy, and the miso soup was the best weve ever had! *Server was nice and checked up on us often.
Amazing restaurant. The service is basic, quick, and prompt. I tried the original katsu which was absolutely delicious. Made fresh and cooked perfectly, very tasty gravy. I also had the udon carbonara, it was served hot and fresh and was also amazing. You might think the price are a bit expensive, but they are more than fair for the portion you get and what they include, it s very good value, especially in Toronto these days. Also forgot to mention the miso soup they give you is the best I ve ever had. Incredible. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody.
Great takeout location. Food is always delicious and ready when they say it will be. The Terrimayo is my favorite
Generous plate sizes, worth the money. I ordered honeycomb and it was AMAZING. The ones with curry tend to get soaked at the end...would probably ask if we could get the sauce separately next time. Great experience overall!
Poor ignorant driver.
This is my first time visiting this Katsuya location. The food was really tasty and the staff was nice and attentive.
Great presentation and flavors. I came in for lunch but I might return for dinner
Close your restaurant, sometimes staff not good, always be nice to the customer,
I ate inside the restaurant, but the atmosphere was a bit chaotic so it was difficult to eat comfortably, so I ate quickly and left. The taste is so-so, so I dont think Ill visit next time.
Excellent tasty food, my spouse would be ordering from Katsuya every week if it wasn t me stopping him. Our go to are the sweet chilli and red carbonara chicken katsu. Especially during a time of pandemic, we need more places that offer good takeout options.
The food is amazing, good portions for the Katsu sets, highly recommend the Japanese curry Katsu, the karaage is great the one tossed in Korean sauce is really tasty!
They re very stingy with the sauce they provide
I have walked by this restaurant so many times and I was always curious. I figured it was all fried foods and there would be nothing special but I was wrong. I loooove you Katsuya! I wish I could eat here every week but one must be careful as the food is quite rich. I ordered the sweet chili katsuya with chicken, red carbonara udon, and the cheese crabmeat croquette. The winners for me were the udon and the croquettes by far! I was never a fan of udon but that red carbonara udon is so delicious. It is deliciously spicy and creamy at the same time and has pork, squid and shrimp embedded in the dish. The other great thing about this restaurant is customer service . This is the type of place where everyone working there says thanks for coming when you leave . It s quite refreshing especially when you re having an off day. The sight of dough balls and freshly baked bread makes you feel like you re in another world.I m glad that this restaurant is in the neighborhood. Eat Katsuya!
Authentic and always fresh katsu! The staff are friendly and helpful. The place is neat and smells like fresh bread -- thats because they make them fresh for their panko breading! They also offer 30% off for cash transactions during the pandemic which is really awesome!
Love this katsu place. Always taste great and fresh. Ordering and pick up was easy. Would order again and recommend it.
I believe this is as best as you can get in Canada without physically going to Japan for Katsu (fried loins). Portion wise its very good and filling. Now during pandemic, they give you 30% off!
Dont order from this location. Ordered on Uber Eats and I bet you I can fry it better with my feet. Look how brown it is..
I will never order from here again....couldn t eat it at all! We got two different katsu and both of them were bad! Disappointed
This restaurant is really good
I had a great experience at here. There was really nice service and great food. Especially, really delicious!! I will be visiting again!!
The red carbonara sauce is one of the best Ive ever had! Absolutely delicious!
The pork loin I got from here was so good
super nice staff, great food, chill atmosphere. need i say more? totally hit this spot up!
Soyoung, the manager served us when we visited! she was super kind and sweet! the rest of the staff was very welcoming and food arrived shortly after we ordered. portions are very large, rice and miso soup are available for free refill, good pricing and tasted great!! will come back soon but too full!! haha
The staff was very nice and welcoming, especially Soyoung. The food tasted great - I got the Terri Mayo w Sweet Potato Cheese Katsu. Also got miso soup (with free refills!). Overall, the portion of the food was great and the price was also worth it. Would definitely go back here! :)
Best food spot in north york
Great service and food with 20% off when paid in cash! Thank you to all the staffs working hard throughout the pandemic!
Thank you to the Pyun family for the excellent recommendation and excellent food! Really enjoyed the food and the service!!
Very friendly staff and accomodating. The food is amazing and they serve them fast and fresh! This is my first time eating here and I cant wait to go back again! Thank you for your great service!!
I went to Yorkdale and there was a lineup for the food court. Luckily, Katsuya was nearby and the food was delicious. My sister is very picky and this was her first time trying it. She got the cheese katsu and loved it. Did I mention unlimited miso soup? Will be back again. Reasonably priced, yummy tasting food tasting and attentive staff=winner.
Wonderful smell from the panko drying on the shelves. Food was excellent. A lot of sauces have peanuts/peanut oil in them, but are clearly labelled on the menu, along with other common allergens. Bottomless miso and complimentary lemon water were appreciated while eating in. I had the Japanese fish katsu while my favourite person had the Japanese chicken katsu; both arrived with the breaded mains elevated on grill trivets to keep them crispy and to drain excess oil. The panko breading was excellent, and the meats were perfectly cooked. There was also a cabbage salad with a light vinaigrette in one corner which was refreshing, a small amount of daikon and ginger pickles which were lightly acidic for a cleansing effect, and a small bowl of rice in the set. Armand asked if the bread was for sale, but was told that it wasnt very tasty as bread, only used for breading, and was thus not for sale. This place has spoiled us for other katsu--the chain has locations in Ontario and B.C., but we anticipate it spreading to the prairies--fingers crossed.
It was soooooo good! We ordered red carbonara katsu, Terri mayo katsu and cheese crabmeat croquette! Will definitely come back!!!
Overall good food. Tried original pork katsu, original fish katsu, Japanese pork katsu, and katsu udon. The katsu are crispy, my favourite was the fish. If you like fried fish, you must try their fish katsu, its amazing. Their original katsu sauce is creamy and almost buttery. The cabbage salad dressing has some sesame seed oil in it which gives that great Asian taste. The sauce for japanese katsu was really sour, none of us liked it. Not sure if its always been like that or it was not a great batch. They serve these pickled cabbages, what appears to be mainly soy sauce based. It was too salty for us, so we didnt like it. The yellow pickled radish was quite nice. For those who are familiar with these yellow pickled radishes, youll recognize that these ones are bit sweeter and mellow in taste, which works pretty well with the dishes. It gives a balance to salty main dish and the vinegar-y cabbage salad. Or just a good palate cleanser. Other than that, server was very friendly. There was a really loud noise in the restaurant that would stir up in intervals. We werent sure if it was the a/c system or their fridge or something but it was really noisy and quite unpleasant. You get 20% off for takeout and 10% off to pay in cash.
Great food and good service. Wish the menu was a little bigger though
Cheese crabmeat croquettes. Cheesy with light crab flavour and a perfect soft interior/ lightly crispy exterior covered in their version of tartar sauce. Ordered 3 and honestly, I could have ordered 5 and just had that as my full meal as they were absolutely delicious. Chicken katsu original is a good portion size and delicious. Precisely crispy in their flavourful vegetable sauce. Katsuya Udon noodle soup - well portioned. Good broth. Extremely satisfying. Overall, 6 out of 5 stars if I could give it here. Customer service was on point too.
This was my first time trying Katsuya in Toronto and I would say it was not disappointing. The food was amazing, not very oily and not too spicy the fried pork and chicken was otherworldly. Loved the marinara sauce we ordered separately. If you haven t tried then you should . 4 stars for taste, service and food packaging.
Good Place.
The red carbonara katsuya is to die for! Perfect blend of spices in the sauce and huge portions! I keep ordering from here and won t be stopping anytime soon!
Nice people/employees
Amazing food and great service. I tried the fish katsu and it did not disappoint. I would also recommend the honey butter fries - really unique!
Curry Katsu is really good..even the other Katsu is good too..im just a fan of curry. i dined in and it was good.
I ve eaten here many times and the food is so good here, the curry and spicy sauces are my favourite. The takeout is very organized and presented well, and the takoyaki was also pretty good. I d say it s worth the price, only thing is the staff could be more friendly.
Great service and amazing selection of authentic and original katsu recipe. The food looks exactly like the picture. Will be coming back to try their other katsus.
good menu, good food, good service, good price
Great food, friendly staff
Tasty chicken cutlets and curry. Dont know how they make the miso soup but its the best I ever had! Just sad I didnt get the cheese crabmeat croquettes :( I order via UberEATS
I always get takeout here, and the server who takes and packs the order is very friendly and organized! She communicates their promotions well and makes sure that nothing is missing. The food is great as well and is usually ready within 20 minutes! I love the spicy garlic cheese katsu
Great place for Katsu dishes!
If I could give 10 stars, I would! I always order food here in uber eats and I want to try to eat here, Im not disappointed. The ambiance is very cozy and the staff are very friendly! Good job! Would probably eat here again!
Great food and great service! Very nice people, will definitely come back
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Katsuya opened a new location so close to Yorkdale. Had the Red Carbonara with sweet potato and no surprise it was delicious and the portions are generous. Would highly recommend.
The staff are so friendly that I think the food is already delicious, but it tastes even more delicious! My favorite Garlic Chili Katsu! The crunchy and savory garlic and sauce go together so well
Food was great!! We had the garlic spicy katsu, and the brick cheese katsu!! The dip and sesame seeds with the brick cheese katsu were amazing together
Really great katsu. Great service. Always greeted with a smile. Love the food here. Definitely a must try. They make their own panko breading in house!!!
Very good Japanese food
Ordered take out from this place a few times, since the restaurant has opened in my neighborhood. Tried different sauces with katsuyas and appetizers. Always delicious and fresh, service is great too! Highly recommend.
As soon as it was new, I went to the store and tried it. The staff was friendly and I liked it so much that I ordered it through Uber Eats. Tonkatsu is also delicious Takoyaki is also delicious However, I asked for a little more salad, which my wife likes, but she got less and it ended up being a disaster, so Im giving it one star. My wife on top of tonkatsu
