I was pretty surprised it was busy on a Wednesday (probably for the holidays). The food was good and the chef was amazing (we sat at the cooking tables I dont remember the correct name) however our order would be missing alot of items

The waiters in this store, Wendy Yan and Gloria, are very friendly. The chef, Mike, is very funny and the atmosphere is great!

Food was really good, staff were nice and friendly.

I have been coming to Matsuda over 10 years. Never had a bad day here. Food is always good. Atmosphere is great. Staff are amazing specially Vincent. Every time I call he remembers my name and knows what spots I like to sit. That to me is service. I highly recommend this place.

Ive come here maybe a dozen times and loved it everytime. I noticed each time I get the same chef and hes only gotten ruder and ruder. Always has some weird jokes here and there. This time he made our experience extremely distasteful. He was saying things like management is watching us so we couldnt order a second round of teppanyaki which we are entitled to. He kept repeating it, even saying we shouldnt order the deep fried banana as it will make us full. It really wasnt a welcoming experience and unfortunately my last time coming back here. This restaurant has lost the desire to satisfy customers.

This is AUCE sushi and teppanyaki restaurant. A pretty spacious place that is good for large gathering parties. You can choose either sit at the regular tables or the teppanyaki tables. To avoid long waiting, it is better make a reservation before going. They offer a wide range of sashimi, sushi and maki. The preset teppanyaki menu comes with king prawn, steaks, fish, chicken, mushroom, mixed vegetable and fried rice. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: They offer vege rolls, miso soup, deep fried tofu, green salad, tofu skin sushi, Edamame, soba and many other vegetables dishes. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly place. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is big enough for wheelchair moves around.

The food is decent for Japanese cuisine although it is not run by Japanese. The dining area is extremely cold and uncomfortable. The customer service is definitely needs a lot of improvements.

Good quality food with lots of variety. Avoid coming on Fridays and weekends. Its super busy and thus food takes much longer to come out to you. You might not even be completely full when you get closer to the max seating time. If you come during weekdays, food comes out virtually instantly when you order (and the price is cheaper).

The food and service are very good. Wendy is very nice and remembers our names. The steamed egg and desserts are the most excellent in Toronto.

Matsuda is a great ayce place with great quality food. The service here is probably some of the best around. The team is always ready to help and do t keep you waiting. The grill meat is really nice quality and the sashimi is very fresh with a nice assortment of rolls as well. They have recently added hot pot to the menu which I have yet to try out. One of my go to places for ayce in Scarborough. Vegetarian options: Yes theres a full page of vegetable Parking: Parking is a bit difficult here at times because the Plaza can get busy with the other local businesses but in the end I have always found parking

The sushi is very tasty.

I ve been to this location many times before and this was the worst experience I have ever had. For two people + a 17 month old ($5) + 1 can of coke. I was charged $131 including $17 service fee. Food came out fast at the beginning and when I placed my second order nothing came out until I had to order a third time. The waitress ( the tall one ) started asking us if we were done with our plates 45 minutes in to us sitting down. I now understand why they have to include the service charge in there because for the service they provided I would ve easily given them $5 max. In the past I have given $20 separately to the waitress or waiter that helped us. I m in the service industry, I d be horrified if my employees provided that kind of service and expected tips. We will not be returning and will not recommend this place to anyone else.

I feel that the variety is a little low, that is, they offer the same cut of salmon in different presentations but without varying how it is seasoned or dressed, so there is a time when you You realize that everything tastes more or less the same, however, what is there is very tasty and the meat is quite decent. I recently dined at Matsuda Japanese (Don Mills), and it exceeded my expectations for an all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant. The quality of the food is outstanding, with a diverse menu featuring everything from sushi, sashimi, grilled meats, noodles, tempura etc. all served quickly and fresh. Wendy, who seemed to be a manager, was incredibly friendly and added a personal touch to our experience. The dessert selection is impressive far superior to other all-you-can-eat places. Highly recommended! Parking: Lots of parking at the back of the building

Completely subverted my understanding of Teppanyaki Teppanyaki doesnt have lobster, live abalone, wagyu beef, or prawns...forget it Don t fill your guests bellies with tofu, right? Meat: It looks like the barbecue buns I bought when I was on an outing. They are all low-quality meat and filled with cornstarch (especially beef ribs). The funniest thing is that everything is served with their special soy sauce Even steak (although I dont know what kind of rotten meat it is) is also added with soy sauce and a small amount of salt and black pepper. Best AYCE Sushi joint Ive found in T.O. Date-quality atmosphere, quick, attentive service, Great Sashimi and Sushi, and definitely the best non-sushi offerings of any place Ive visited. Must-Try standouts include outstanding Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon Teriyaki, best Grilled Eel Unagi, solid chicken and beef skewers, great tempura, and dont sleep on my fave, the Golden Shrimp - big bouncy fried shrimp tossed in a Tobiko QP Mayo sauce - outstanding! I wish they still opened for lunch, but since covid its only open after 3pm but well worth the trip and the new higher prices. Just Go! :) Vegetarian options: They were more than happy to accommodate special requests for a recent vegan date.

Mehh nothing special compared to the other ayce. What was interesting was most dessert items said sold out and when we questioned how come, miraculously they brought it to us. This seems like a bit of a scam bcz they dont tell u b4 u do the ayce and i feel like lot of ppl may not ask and just not get to try the desserts. Probably wont be going back.

This all-you-can-eat teppanyaki place is about average. Its worth trying once, but you dont really need to go there regularly. The Teppanyaki here is pretty good, and its worth trying once, but you dont need to come every day.

Disappointed and dissatisfied with this restaurant. Did not take allergies seriously, mandatory tip, 2 minutes late and crossed off our reservation. The amount of food waste is insane - they would rather charge an extra $50 on an already $300+ bill than make an exception to take away some of the mandatory leftover food. Waste of money - would highly NOT recommend.

Ive been here two or three times and I really like this store. The atmosphere is quiet and clean. The Teppanyaki tastes good too, but the downside is that the seafood or tempura may not be fresh this time, and my family and I got diarrhea after eating it. This has never happened before. The tip is fixed, about 130 for two people.

Pre-pandemic, this was a great place to go to. Portions were on par with other AYCE sushi places with above average quality. My very recent visit was disappointing. The sashimi portions were 1/4 to 1/2 the size of other comparable AYCE sushi places. Same goes for the other non-sushi items such as their yakitori. Ordered four skewers, and although we received four, the size really amounted to one skewer anywhere else. All is not bad. Their tempura shrimp was as large if not larger than other AYCE joints. Service was indifferent. One server, who seems to be new, was not helpful at all when asked about a particular item. Additionally, they now include a tip in their bill (Only two of us dining). When asked if we could have this recalculated and allow us to decide the tip amount, we were told No. I will give this place another try, as I truly hope that this was a bad night.

Good AYCE. Went yesterday after 1 year, food is really good and fresh and I appreciate the variety offered. There were 3 if us, we came on a Sunday at around 4 pm and it wasnt busy at all. Food came pretty fast which is good. What I didnt appreciate was that they added a 18% gratuity automatically to the bill, and it wasnt communicated previously. In case youre wondering the bill was $199, for 3 AYCE, 1 Sapporo, 2 green teas and 1 Nestea.

I wanted to share my videos during the dinner, but I think it would be best if you visit this place and experience it yourself! I have nothing but good things to comment about this restaurant. Every restaurant we had ever been to always had at least one thing could be listed as a con. Matsuda, the other hand... I cant think of any single thing. All staff (from Chef, to Store Manager, to waiters) are amazing!! Quality of food (teppanyki, sashimi, and desserts) exceed our expectations! Teppanyki- everything cooked perfectly. Super tasty. The way the chef (aka dishwasher, he informed us) was interacting in a very entertaining style, which is rare! He had some great humor!! Sashimi & sushi- super fresh and perfectly sliced. I dont know what to say about this other than they are fresh, and you know the quality is high! Dessert- Passionfruit jelly OMG is the best!!!!!! Especially after the whole course of teppanyki - super refreshing! Price is super reasonable for what we got and the experience worth it for sure! Highly recommended. We will come back!!!!!!

Very good foods and service. They provided a very Japanese style of Japanese AUCE buffet meal at all time. I specially like that various flavors of milky yogurt, mango lychee & coffee. I cannot get the same level of dessert from other restaurants.

3 of us went for dinner. We weren t impressed when we got our bill and the waitress said, We already added the tip on for you . This was not stated before we ordered.

We had a reservation for 6 pm. I arrived at the restaurant at 5:55, but the front desk wouldnt let us in because not everyone had arrived. About half of the people arrived at 6:10, and I asked if we could still be seated. They said yes, but then told us we were late for our 6 oclock reservation. I was a little upset and told the waiter that I arrived before 6 oclock and was still refused entry. The waiter ignored me and was very rude. After we were finally seated, no one brought us water and we couldnt find our waiter. I decided I would never return to this rude restaurant again before we even started eating.

All you can eat teppanyaki tables. Food is fresh and for the price it can t be beat.

We reserved for a table on April 27th for a birthday dinner. The restaurant called to confirm a couple of hours before we got there if we were coming. When we arrived, they informed us that the restaurant has no power and would not be able to serve us without power. We were informed that they havent had the power for a couple of hours. I did not appreciate that despite having our reservation, they did not bother to call us to inform us, even when they havent had the power for a couple of hours. We ended up having to find an alternative with a group of 7 people as people were arriving at the restaurant. Incredibly disappointing customer service.

Too much of conditions preaching even at the reception, as if they didn t want customers and indirectly saying go away! we thought not to order.

Bad for folks with any type of allergy like shrimp. Everything they serve has shrimp cross contamination including vegetable soup. They couldn t even guarantee whether ice cream is cross contaminated. The male Manager is non responsive and doesn t really care about customers. Dietary restrictions: Can t go here if you have any allergies.

The food arrived quickly, the atmosphere was very nice, and the food was fresh.

Came in an hour before last call, before the host greeted us, they looked at the time and made sure we knew we had an hour to place our order. We placed the orders, food came at a decent pace; although the food was all very bland. The saving grace for the sushi was the sauce put on top otherwise it tasted like water. Chicken teriyaki was decent but the beef sirloin had no flavour. When it came close to 10pm (they close at 11) we were rushed to pay the bill and order desserts. Was not aware of them automatically adding gratuity (although it was a table for 2) so we ended up paying $140 for 2 AYCE, 1 x $4 coke (with refill) and 2 rum and flat cokes. Will not be returning.

Had a very bad experience at this restaurant, and it s definitely not worth it. The ordering website is poorly designed, limiting it to only one person ordering at a time. They enforce a mandatory 15% tip even on the tax which feels unjust, especially since the food wasnt fresh and the waiters were rude. I wish giving 0 stars was an option, lol.

Came here for the Sushi AYCE as the Teppanyaki was fully booked for weeks. Overall, the quality of the food (primarily judging the sashimi) as very good for an AYCE spot as the seafood was fresh. Desserts here were also a bit better than most other AYCE places. Only complaint would be the service was a bit slow to bring out our food and they would give you less than what you ordered with the sashimi. Its a bit most expensive than most other AYCE sushi spots in the area but the food quality is worth it.

We went there on a Saturday night for AYCE, the food was fine but the service was not.. our orders were arriving in small parts , very slow and at times we ended up starring at each other waiting for the food for 10-15 mind..

Be careful today April 11 / 2024 we went to that restaurant. We were a family of 8 visiting the restaurant one of our friends recommended us too. The food kept arriving 30 mins after ordering and only a plate at a time for each of us. By the time one of the plates with noodles arrives, one of the guest had hair inside. So we called the manager she came to look at it she took pictures and try to say it is not a Hair but it was very clear pictures of hair so she told us let me change the plate but our family was already uncomfortable to continue eating so we asked for the receipts she went to make phone calls later she came saying I-will not charge you the 15 % tip but I will charge the full $379.00 we had barley ate at that time and we just wanted to leave. We end up paying $379.00 for food we did not finish eating, without even a sorry or try to accommodate us with anything. I looked in the back and not one of the workers are wearing hair nets. So be carful when you go to eat there. Canadian food inspection agents should me more careful letting these kind of restaurants do business with out nets on the heads on all services employees which are working with food. I give this store a ONE STAR

This is my sushi place to go to most of the time. About the sashimi, there may be some days they are not so fresh but I would say most of the time they are fresh. About the rest of the food, they have a wide menu but I have to say the quality pretty decent and tasty. Their crème brûlée was made right. Service is good, especially the Viet girl that serve the middle part of the restaurant - right when you step inside, she is amazing but I forgot to ask her name she deserves a praise and a raise. In general, this is the best quality for AYCE sushi you can get with that price, I haven t found any place that can beat this yet, will update this post if I found a better AYCE around the GTA

DO NOT COME HERE unless you want to throw money away. They will force you to pay a tip amount that you don t agree too and portions weren t satisfying. Their seats are like sitting on rock stones, it s incredibly cold, and 3.99 for a can of nestea?!!? I feel pop should be included in the AYCE just like any other AYCE places thief thief thief! Like I said, if you want to throw your money away, come to Matsuda. If you want to be smart, stay farrrrrrrr far away from this place. Like real farrrr!! The servers are also incredibly rude and stingy, I asked for a couple napkins, and they ll only give 1 and a half. Just terrible. Google really needs to adjust their star ratings because if there was 0 rating, this place definitely deserves it.!!!!! After coming here, Ive been feeling depressed and full of regrets how a restaurant like this remains in business which such horrible service. I have ptsd because of the impact this place left on me. I literally advise everyone to STAY AWAY!!! STAYYYYYYY THE HELLLLL AWAYYYY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! This restaurant being in business doesn t make the world a better place. I feel sorry for the businesses that had to shut down because silly people are too busy putting money in this restaurant!!

All you can eat Teppanyaki Service is great, food is good, chef is funny and helpful with sauces and how we will enjoy the food, really good cook, steak, shrimp, duck breast and chicken --- 5 Not a fan of sashimi but theirs is really fresh and good!

The food was delicious, however, the service was quite slow and they seemed to be confused with our orders, requesting that we order with one phone a the time. The individual who brought us our food was impolite and rather carelessly placed the plates on the table.

Decent Japanese food with theatrics for the teppanyaki. Typical AYCE quality, nothing speculator but pretty good! Ordering is made convenient on the phone.

Sashimi is not fresh

Sushi is fine but not a good place to enjoy teppanyaki. Most grilled or fried dishes are either cold or overcooked, sometimes they both happen. Almost all delicious things can be seen in the Matsuda restaurant at Sheppard Ave so I would recommend going there. Many orders are missing so sometimes you have to order again. Lastly, they do not provide options for tips but simply give you a bill with 18% tips. I do not think I would come again and the only advantage I can see here is that as this is AYCE, so you would not starve when you leave here.

Went to eat with friends, and after discussing it, we decided that we would rather eat his Matsuda BBQ. The sushi is good, but the rest is not so great. Some of the teppanyaki was burnt and tasted bitter, and the beef was cooked very old and tasted very bland. Some of the dishes ordered were not served at all or took a long time to arrive. It seems like 15% tip is mandatory.

Havent been here in a while...they had changed from ipad to QR code ordering...still need to get used to it. The food was good and the waitress was nice enough to let us order dessert (we were talking too much and didnt realize our time had expired). Our ice cream and creme brule came but we were waiting for the fried bananas which never came. I gave them 4 stars bc although they have disability parking, someone still has to physically open the door (there is no button). Wheelchair accessibility: Need someone to physically open the doors to the restaurant (there is no button to press). Also there is a small step to get into the restaurant making it hard for someone in a wheelchair.

If you never tried teppanyaki, its the place to try, make sure that you make a reservation. Always busy and crowd, but thats how teppanyaki.

Terrible attitude at reception!

Service was extremely slow today for all you can eat. It took an hour for some things to come out and they forgot many items. This isnt usually the case, not sure if it is a change in management or under staffed.

Food was good but half of the stuff we ordered never came, when we asked about it they told us they were busy. By the time we wanted to reorder a bunch of items were unavailable. They automatically included an undeserved 15% tip in the bill as well.

My first time here and first time having teppanyaki. All I can say is wow! The food was fantastic, how chef was hilarious, the ventilation inside was superb, couldnt even tell there was any smoke coming from the hot plate.. we had tried as much as we could and loved almost all of it. Highly recommend this place, especially if you like all you can eat!

We were having a party and ordered take out in advance through Uber Eats - it was a fairly large order. 15 minutes before it was supposed to arrive, they cancelled the order leaving us to scramble to find an alternative. It wa very frustrating and embarrassing. I won t be trying to order from them again

Busy place. Excellent food. Friendly staff. Have been going there for years.
