3259 Dufferin St, North York, ON M6A 2T2, Canada
Full-service Japanese restaurant with classic cooked fare & sushi including creative rolls & boats.
The sushi boat was good the roll had a bit too much cucumber and very thinly cut tuna. Location needs a bit of sprucing up as it's in an old strip mall. It's also a small location. Staff were very nice.
Good sushi. We ordered the deep fried spicy roll… yeah its pretty spicy
Very nice little restaurant. The seatings have some privacy thus it is a good place for a maximum of 4 people. The food in the bento box was really good thanks to the chef! The waitress was very nice and welcoming.
The sushi was tasty and fresh, the atmosphere charming, the service prompt, and the prices reasonable. I will certainly return in the future.
Great sushi, cozy atmosphere, good service. I'm not giving 5 stars because it wasn't the best sushi I've had, but it was very good. Would still recommend to all sushi lovers! The mango and green tea ice cream was also delish. I'll be back!
We were feeling hungry and decided to explore a local mom-and-pop restaurant, Yuki Japanese & Korean. Upon entering, we were greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant's decor appeared a bit outdated, but it was something we had anticipated. After perusing the menu, we placed our orders, and to our delight, the food arrived promptly. However, I couldn't help but feel a slight unease about the cleanliness of the plate my food was served on. Not wanting to make a fuss, I decided to make the most of our visit and focused on enjoying the meal. I opted for the BokumBap, a stir-fried beef with rice dish. While it was a simple and satisfying choice, I would recommend pairing it with an additional side dish for those seeking a more substantial meaty component in their meal. To accompany the main dish, we were served a hot soup, which added a nice touch to the overall dining experience.
Order: Green Dragon roll Crunchy Yam roll Maki set (cali, salmon, tune) Salmon Sashimi Total - $56 for two people Everything was good except the tune. The server was a little rough and our food took a bit longer for what seemed like not too busy, but naybe they had take away orders.
This is one of our favourite place to eat whenever we come to Orfus road. The food is always fresh and delicious. Service is quick and friendly. They have a couple of private booths on the side and plenty of seating on the main floor. It does get a little busy during certain times and you might end up sitting by the chefs counter, but it's not all bad. Watching them cut and prepare the various fish is like wizardry for us.
Small but cozy Japanese/Korean restaurant. Service is good and price is reasonable. Great food.
Various lunch special!
The sushi is so fresh and delicious. I enjoyed how crispy the fries were. I was especially happy because the owner and his wife were so friendly.
Awesome taste, kindness and service. Clean.
We have been coming to this restaurant over 7 years, I feel they are loosing quality and the service is very rush and you feel pressure to live and not enjoying your food ..
If you are lovers of Japanese goods and Japanese cuisine, then this is the place for you. Or just want to experiment.
Food is sooo good and nice private booth seating.
Good sushi, fresh and reasonably priced.
My 4th visit ! is my favorite!! And also they have lunch specials and its a killer
Good
favourite local spot to get sushi
delicious sushi and great service!
Amazing Japanese and Korean food, especially the sushi and their fried chicken. This place has always been my go to Japanese restaurant. The atmosphere is also very lovely, especially when you re in the little privacy booth that they have.
This restaurant is just okay! They do not offer most of the items that are in the menu. Miso soup was really bad, the inside of the Tokayaki was still frozen and they had to bring a new one. I do not recommend this place.
This pase has been around for at least 20 years, they must be doing something right! Small, but very nice, it does look like authentic sushi restaurant and food is excellent!
The food is literally amazing. The place is a very Chinese Traditional restaurant. Very clean. Service is great Food : 5/5 |
The food was satisfactory, but the service left much to be desired. The staff were inattentive; when I ordered soup, it was brought without a spoon. Upon requesting one, the server insisted she had already provided it, displaying a dismissive attitude when I expressed otherwise. I rechecked my table and politely confirmed that I do not have a spoon, but her skepticism and demeanor were off-putting. She stayed adamant that she had given me a spoon. It was a novel, ridiculous and funny experience. Eventually, another staff member intervened, acknowledging the oversight in clearing the cutlery. The lack of awareness and the servers unprofessional behavior tarnished the dining experience. Additionally, when my partner attempted to pay with his Amex card, the transaction failed because the restaurant doesn t accept amex cards; the staff member responded rudely, advising against using Amex in the future. Overall, the atmosphere created by the staff made us feel unwelcome.
Expensive but good
authentic and good
This is one of those places you just have to step into. The atmosphere is nice & the fact that they have private dining makes it all the more better. K took my son here and now he cant stop talking about it. Reasonably priced as well!
Very good very delicious, good food good service
Ive never been disappointed by Yuki, and the boats are a particularly good value!
The best. My go-to for a dish that I m keeping secret. You ll just have to try them all and see for yourself.
Great stop for the best Japanese dishes around!
Everyone who said not to be put off by the sketchy external appearance was right. Fantastic. Fresh and artfully done for a thursday lunch. Good service. Good fish to rice ratio. The butter fish and snapper were lightly seared by a mini blow torch and added a real finesse to the flavour.
MY FRIEND AND I GOT FOOD POISONING. Vomiting, Nausea and bad Headache. Completely lost appetite
Great quality of sashimi. My go to place for sashimi in the area.
One of the best sushi place
Best sushi place in the city! Premium quality fish they use always consistent every time dine in and takeout is wonderful. Always order for large parties their trays. This will forever be my go to sushi spot.
The food here is not so great. The 3 stats is for the good service.
Casual foodies living in their parents basements at age 28 while entering their 11th year of a 3 year post secondary program may confuse this place as Korean, but it is not. Asian fusion is quite simple to identify, and Yuki does it well.
I ordered a small combination and vegetable udon. Both are easy dishes but waited for for 45 mins and until I wrote this review they still didn t get my food prepared. The customers who came late already finished and checked their bill. This restaurant didn t serve well and I don t recommend to visit. 1 star is for their food which is fine. If you are hungry or in rush, this won t be a choice.
Berry good yamy
We ve been coming to Yu Ki for years and the maki rolls have never disappointed us. Whether it was dine-in or takeout, Yu Ki does not disappoint. We love getting the Special Boat C, but for our latest visit we got an assortment of special rolls and regular rolls. Excellent food and excellent service.
Great little spot. Tasty food. The sushi rolls are HUGE! Possibly too big, lol.
Dropped in for a quick lunch. The tempura batter was done very well, light, well seasoned and did not have an old oil taste.
Sushi is good.
I love the freshly made sushi.
Great Atmosphere. Sushi is delicious and well made.
Great food and service for a good price. Plus, they have those small Japanese themed dining rooms.
Food was fine, at best. Service was terrible. Our server was unattentive and impatient, she almost walked away while we were mid-ordering. As one of very few tables in the restaurant, she came to our table only once throughout the meal, not to refill our drinks or see if we needed anything, but to tell us we had to stop laughing. The bathroom was also disgusting. Never again.
Place is dope
I come here with my husband all the time. The food is so good!
Parking: Parking in front of the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: For entering the shop it is possible but for using the washroom it is not possible. Food : 4/5 |
Great service and fantastic sushi
Recommended by someone I know. Its located in a little plaza off of Dufferin. The place is much nicer than I expected (when driving down Dufferin south of Yorkdale). Went for the Korean dishes. Loved the Hwe du bap. Decent amount of fish, and plenty of greens. Next time Im at Yorkdale, Ill skip the food court and eat here again. Parking: Parking in the strip plaza. Can be pretty tight due to limited spots.
Delicious food and great quality.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible to the restaurant but not to washroom. Food
The food was delicious and great for the price.
Everything is perfect thank you :)
Cutest interior with Japanese style booths. Fire sushi! Loved their miso soup
Yesterday, my friend and I felt like having a snack and went into Yu Ki as I ve been wanting to try it out. The place was pretty empty when we walked in at about 8:15pm. And they seemed to be more of a take out restaurant. There were 3 booths on the left side and general tables to the right. A younger male sat us in the middle booth. Took our order and left with no issues. When we got our bill an older lady came in to give it to us. She stated I want to say this is not good etiquette when I asked for clarification she said it s too little as it is a Friday night and not good etiquette. We are a business. Was she talking about the amount we ordered? Because we paid for what we ate. I was totally appalled. Is there a limit written somewhere? I asked. She said no and she kept repeating it. I said are you busy? Is there a line up? Is it because we are sitting at a booth because then you should speak to your servers who sat us here. She said no it doesn t matter. If you want people to pay more then remove your A La Carte menu and only stick with all you can eat so everyone pays the same amount and your business will be satisfied. However, it is not my duty to buy more just because you don t think it is right. My friend and I are both professionals. Not some school children that you are teaching manners. We do not know you. Please refrain from such biased comments in the future. We had 2 miso soups, 1 Takyoki and a large sushi that satisfied us both. In fact I even asked for the sushi to be cut into smaller pieces in the beginning and was denied. If it was about money then I wouldn t have asked for the restaurant to do that. I would like to clearly state that I would Never send anyone to this location for the service of this lady and her lack of customer service skills. The miso soup was great but the food was fine for a snack and the washroom was very lacking in cleanliness. I am still shocked at this encounter and have never felt more disgusted.
Food was good and fresh, but the waitress was very rude and ruined our lunch. She saw me with 4 kids, gave me a dirty look and suggested me to take out. If I wanted to take out I would not be asking for a table. I asked her if the kids were a problem and she rolled her eyes, I told her if they re a problem I d just leave because there is a bunch of other places we could Go to, I even told her that I would ask the kids to be quiet, but the whole idea was to go out for lunch and chat, laugh, have a fun time. I d never let my kids disturb people, they have manners besides, the place was empty!!!!!!!! How crazy is this? They noticed her discomfort and ate very quietly and quickly and we left the place as soon as we could . It was very uncomfortable!!!! I know kids sometimes might be undesirable customers, but her approach was very inappropriate. I ll Never go back. I spent a hundred bucks and regretted badly, should ve spent that money on somewhere else where we could eat in peace and be treated better. A restaurant with good food and a bad service customer is a bad restaurant.
Servers were nice. Foods were decent. I ll definitely come again.
Hidden gem. Absolutely FANTASTIC food and service
Ordered a orange dragon roll for take out and it was delicious! The server was friendly and the restaurant is very cute. Parking is limited in this plaza though
The vegetarian party tray is a work of art and it tastes delish. 38 pieces for $35. It comes with miso soup. Their lunch specials are between $6.99 - $19.99. Dinner $11.99 - $26.99 They have a wide variety of options on the menu. Even some Korean ones.
Pretty good! Great value on lunch menu.
Amazing
GUYS THIS PLACE IS A GEM. Best sushi in town. Its small, family owned. Lovely, friendly service, the food is truly remarkable n delicious. I highly recommend this place. U will jot be disappointed.
Fresh sushi and delicious Korean/Japanese food.
Good food ,good service and good prices also.
Great food options for those who live Japanese, not many Korean food options as the name suggests.
Best sushi in the area hands down.
Beautiful place!
I have been coming here for years with a friend. We always have good food, good service and the place is charming. The only thing we wish was different is the music...its often loud and not relaxing. Having said that, we love coming here! Food
I ordered salmon teriyaki bento and the amount and taste were good to me. And nice sushi fresh salmon!!
I went there often a few years ago because it was delicious, but the taste has changed a lot.
Great service and food. The private rooms make the experience so much more comfortable.
Never had this quality of sushi in my life. Portion and size are poor and thickness of sashimi was really poor too. Waitress was kind. That is all.
Ok so I only go for the sushi boots and its great. Service is OK as there are typically only 1 server on Fridays sometimes 2 and can get pretty busy. Its Japanese korean food.
Amazing food choices!
Looking from the outside you have no idea how spectacular this place is. Food is just delicious! Vegetarian options: there are some options Parking: not so hard to park, for free.
A quaint little place, great food and service.
Always a staple for my family and I! Amazing sushi options and extremely affordable prices, a go-to! The sushi boats are a great choice for those wanting to share and wanting to mix sashimi and sushi. Overall, lovely place!
Consistent, fast, and delicious! One of the best sushi joints around. Their sashimi is sooooooooo good, top quality and reasonable prices! Always come here and have never been let down
Great quality and affordable sashimi, takoyakis and other Japanese dishes. Awesome variety. The enclosed dining space gives the best privacy and covid safety possible
i like that theres privacy when eating; you got your own space
Decent sushi place for the location. Been here more than a handful of times, was alway a consistent quality. However Ive come once during the pandemic and the beef combo was very burnt
The rolls are far too big and over stuffed with cucumber.
Give service in just few seconds , great work of management
Very friendly staff and cute vibe. Sushi was mediocre.
Fresh sushi. Loved their scallop roll and salad! Def would go here again if I m near Yorkdale mall.
Very nice sushi! I ve tried many places. Yuki sushi is the one of the best! Especially Sushi rice that how they taste is great! Of course fish taste much better than anywhere. The cut, portion, taste! Very highly recommended. Lunch special is the great deal
the decor is cute, welcoming and comfortable. the food was great, and the staff was professional and kind
Had the Bulgogi bento box along with Spicy Salmon Sushi. Pretty good sushi spot
Most underrated Sushi place in Toronto. Always fresh fish, never fails to impress me. I absolutely love this place.
Sub-standard Korean place trying to pass as a Japanese restaurant. In the end, the flavor is neither Korean nor Japanese. Pricey for the quality, too.
Great prices, great service! Fish quality was average. Washroom / basement could be cleaner however.
We ordered hand-rolled sushi and sushi rolls. I hated seaweed. It looked like beef jerky. It tasted bad and was hard to eat lol Nori very bad, roll ok. Very old Nori.
Been here twice and everything is consistent. Delicious & fresh sushi, decent price, private atmosphere, and really great service! Will come here again.
Friendly staff and a good sushi
Very nice little place with great service and even better food
Awesome food and atmosphere
Beautiful experience.
Best sushi place! Food melts in your mouth.
Went couple of times regardless this is 20km from Scarborough. Quality of dishes very stable, Teriyaki Chicken has charcoal flovour other restaurant dont have. Will keep on going there.
Food took 40 minutes to come, special boat was nothing special, sushi was terrible, everything was severely overpriced
Delicious...Sashimi 2
Ordered a dragon roll. Shrimp was ice cold, told them about it, and she told me the kitchen was cold. It was not fresh, and definitely been sitting. Didn t offer a new roll to be made. Just took my plate, drink and cutlery away and said bye
What can I say about a restaurant that jack its price and lowers its food quality. We came to this restaurant because our guest told us it was good when they visited a while ago BUT NOW The salad was very vinagry, the mezoo extremely salty. The green tea was cold ... the tiryaki chiken was barely eatable. The sushi as well as the sashiny were also a disappointment. I would not go back sine all of us I.e. 4 people did has a sub standard experience. Parking: Very limited number of parking
Epic fail on new years eve. Placed my order at 6pm and watched at least 6 different drivers go to the restaurant and then leave. I waited 2.5 hours, finally a driver contacted me and cancelled the order for me. I dont understand how this could even happen. I attempted to call the restaurant numerous times but they would not answer the phone. I ate at Yuki a few times before lockdown and I will definitely not ever go back again. Save your money and go to a restaurant that treats their customers with a little more respect.
This restaurant has gone severely downhill. It used to be a pretty good neighborhood sushi restaurant pre lockdown. Now their food is a joke and the wait times are ridiculous. Gas station sushi would be better than Yuki.
This place has the best sashimi hands down! Excellent quality that can really be tasted. Ive personally never been a fan of tuna but Yuki Sushi has changed my mind - I just havent had Yukis tuna sashimi. But please, hear me out Yuki Sushi, I highly recommend offering a Kikkoman Sushi & Sashimi soy packet as opposed to what youre currently offering. Yours is a Kimlan Chinese soy sauce, very salty and made for other dishes. Other than that, Yuki Sushi is a gem and I recommend this place 100x times and more.
Bad Uber Eats Experience. Restaurant doesn t start making order until driver shows up. Then says they are busy when they realize they can t make it in time.
Love this place. Only really good sushi around. And they are great with making everything how you like. Cause I hate avocado!
Kind and cheap. Its cheap and friendly.
Always delicious!
Great quality sushi for a local sushi restaurant. Family owned and the folks are very kind. Fish always taste fresh and their combos are reasonably priced for portion size. Still have many things to try on their menu, but their Kame combo always does the job for me.
Great food! Was fresh, and the portions were good for the price. Reccomend the Special Rolls, more specifically, the Salmon Crunch Roll and the Unagi Don.
Theyre about 15 minutes away from where I live, and Ive never been there, but since I was craving sushi decided to take a chance. I ordered the Green Dragon Roll and the Dynamite Dragon Roll which I was able to share with another person. Portion Size: Very Good Presentation: Very Good Quality/Taste: Very Good Take-out packaging: Very Good Only critique I can share, is I wish they had pictures all their menu items in Uber Eats so I knew what they looked like. Will likely order lunch again!
While youre limited right now due to take out only the the sushi here is good quality. Thumbs up!
The person dispensing food micromanages and acts unkind toward delivery drivers. He only allows them to take 1 bag at a time, which slows them down, decreasing their pay. Very unprofessional! This is the only restaurant that commits such unprofessional, micromanaging behavior!
Very good sushi. I drop by every time I am in town.
Best takeout sushi I have ever had! The fish tastes really fresh and the roll combinations are really good.
This restaurant food is horrible. I got soft shell crab I could not even identify what was in the plate when I got home. The smell was the worst....it seemed as if the oil it was fried in had not been changed since pre lockdown. My advice to the owner is...if you are not able to maintain the quality of food....decrease your menu options to items you can afford to produce properly....very Disappointed would never return!
Delicious, cheap lunch!
They have the most flavourful sushi in comparison to the run of the mill sushi places in North York. Also has the best Hwae Dup Bap (sashimi salad, with a sweet spicy dressing) in the GTA!!
Called in to make a takeout order, immediately the rush me off the phone and just said, look online and refused to tell me what is the lunch special it was clear they did not want to speak to me over the phone. I said, you know what, maybe English is not their first language but I ll still drive there to make a take out order and support a local business. Boy, did I make a mistake walked in, ordered from the menu 3 lunch specials, waited over 45 minutes, and at the end the food was disappointing as well lack of freshness, taste and size won t be back there ever too bad. Bad customer service, attitude and food.
This place deserves a 5 star for their Hwu Du Bap (lots of toppings and the only place I ve seen have watercress) but they lose a star for having a terrible vegetable Korean pancake. They forgot to pack a dipping sauce with the pancake and it pancake itself was bland and thick and lacked onions.
Excellent service and food. The miso was perfect, they didnt cheap out on the miso.
Although the restaurant is small, the food is good and friendly. I recommend it.
Decent Japanese food and fair prices. Has been a consistent spot in the neighborhood for many many years.
Fresh and really great tasting! Would definitely return!!
I liked it price is fair private environment
Its my favourite place to dine with friends. Food is fresh and portions are substatial.Friendly service. Ive been going to this place for many years and have always enjoyed it.
Good portion, good price and amazing taste
More of a 3.5. I totally get the appeal of this spot. Love the private booths, and the food is very filling. If you are in the area I would completely recommend their lunch specials; which I think are quite the bargain. The sushi itself is just ok for me. Had their salmon salad and it was DRENCHED in mayo. Not bad, but I still can t understand why they would use as much as they did. It came with the Yuki special roll, which I found good but very forgettable. The only two really good pieces were the ends where you could actually taste the soft shell crab. The sweet potato rolls were super heavy and you feel like you re just eating dense batter. Come if you re hungry, and it will be worth your while!
Decent price and decent food. Ordered sushi1 fro lunch special, it was nice, though most of them were salmon.
Love this place
The worst service ever!!! Me and my husband went there and were not hungry so order two small dishes. The owner served us and throw out the dish and also being grumpy with aggressive ton of voice. I would not ever go this place again. If you order small, you will get the worst service ever!!
This place is amazing! Generous portions, super tasty, and reasonably priced. When my husband and I are in the area, we always make the effort to stop here and have lunch or dinner, and sometimes we do take-out. The restaurant is a small but cute little spot with booths as well! Also, they have my favourite gyoza soup! It s just delicious. Rolls are huge but delicious as well. Overall, A+
Always good for the most part sometimes the wait is a little long but always good food
Tasty good. Worth the price.
This restaurant is very good, the portions are quite large and the food is very delicious, I highly recommend it to visit with your partner, friends and/or family, it is very close to York Dale mall. They also prepare some Korean dishes such as bibimban, bulgogi, etc.
Friendly staff, good prices and amazing food!!
Cute and cosy! Excellent sushi and fast service.
Good food
Doesnt seem like its chicken breast. Its dark meat and has a lot of fat and nerve endings. Dried out old looking chicken. The egg was brown too..weird and nasty looking. Would not recommend this place if youre hungry and want something to eat..maybe for someone you dont like lol. The rice was good.
Delicious sushi!
Eating Gluten Free sushi is very hard, but Yuki, used to make a very nice gluten free sushi. I have even told a few friends that also dont eat gluten, about the service and how good they could make it. Now, I have called them and I was told by who answered the phone that she doesnt want to make it, because it is too much work. Maybe management changed, I used to be a regular customer (once or twice per week), but now, me and my family just need to find another place to buy sushi.
fresh and good
Their sushi are consistently good, for the price point no one can beat them in this area
Good service
Pretty good sushi. The place is quite small and cozy.
Hours need to be updated, place was closed when i arrived on saturday nov 14 at 10:20pm. Store hours state closes at 11pm
Great sashimi!
Food is great! Service is good too.
As I was driving down Dufferin, I noticed this location & parked in the plaza for take-out at this location because I was in the mood for Japanese food. I walked in and asked them if they make Eel / Unaghi Don, they say yes so I order it and wait, it was 1:00 pm. While Im waiting many drivers came in to pickup delivery orders. The lady tells me the amount to pay, I paid and before I left asked her for a flyer of their take-out menu, just so I know what they have for the next time Im craving Japanese food so I can order other things on my next visit. When I look at the take-out menu later that day, I noticed they charged me the Dinner price and not the Lunch price for the Unaghi ! Ripped me off a few bucks, which was rude! I can understand alot of restaurants are struggling, but dont rip off your customers when they come to you, order & pickup in person! Theyre doing well because there were quite a few drivers picking up delivery orders while I waited, but this left me astonished that they would side-swipe me this way when there are other businesses who cant even have their doors open during Covid Lockdown! Be grateful you can still do business - but dont rip people off! To think I left a tip to boot! I will NEVER go back because they did this to me. BEWARE if you go here and check the price they charge you so they dont rip you off!
Food is very good and staff is very friendly
The privacy of the booths contributes to an enjoyable dining experience. The Maki rolls I ordered were delicious and fresh and I am looking forward to having an opportunity to return.
Excellent good food
Food is fresh and quick service. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff, Ive have always enjoyed my visit, never been disappointed and will be back. Keep up the good work .
