Ate here on a Saturday evening around 7:40. Almost no customers and we got seated basically right away. Ordered a combo that came with marinated beef, beef intestines, onions, and some side dishes. Came with soup, onion salad, and complementary lettuce too. We also refilled our side dishes for free. Combo cost around $60. Would highly recommend if you have 2 people with a big appetite or 3 people with small appetites.
It was really nice to be at the position. I was thinking what to get and staff kindly recommend me what options I could have. Awesome staff, great food and great atmosphere for K-BBQ
Authentic Korean food, the taste is great and the price is reasonable. I will want to try other dishes next time
Fantastic. I've been longing for a solid Korean restaurant that takes me back to the authentic taste and quality many restaurants don't seem to prioritize anymore. The pricing is reasonable, customer service is impressive (nice but busy lady who ran the whole front of house herself), and most importantly, the food was amazing. Bonus - they have so many traditional dishes that are so rare to find in Toronto. It's taken me far too long to go here (given I've been to like 90% of the Korean restaurants in the area), but I'm so glad I finally did. Keep it up, Chowon!
I love this restaurant! Everything was so good. I ordered makchang bbq and it was the best one ever across the Canada! All the small dishes were in good quality, the hall was clean and neat and the server was so friendly and welcoming! Me&my bf had a such an amazing experience here so I’m leaving a comment altho I’m not that type of person. I’ll return soon for sure
The staff here are warm and hospitable. The menu of Korean barbecue isn't extensive, but it's focused on quality rather than quantity, making each dish a standout. Pork belly is grilled slowly until the outer layer turns golden and crispy while the inside remains tender and juicy—a perfect harmony of textures. Their seafood pancakes are another must-try, known for their generous portions, crispy texture, and abundant filling. Each bite is a burst of happiness and satisfaction, with the golden exterior enveloping juicy and flavorful seafood inside, creating a delightful contrast of flavors and textures. The restaurant offers reasonable prices
Came here with my family and ordered the pork bone hotpot, tteokbokki, and fried chicken. The food came with sides dishes that were unlimited refills. Everything tasted great here. The fried chicken was more like the Chinese dish crispy sweet and sour pork. The meal came out to be a little over $100 but for 4 people, we were stuffed.
What you get for $75.71 Pork intestines are so hard to find in Toronto, and very challenging to cook at home. It was easy to chew and insides were full - pretty delicious! On the other hand, the beef was very dry and had bit of blood smell.. Makgulli is completely not my taste. The ones I usually have taste more like sprite but this one is super sour. Ordered over the phone - she was okay but didn't ask if I want delivery or not, felt very rushed It was okay for one time order
Great value of set for a group of 6.
We recently used Chowon Restaurants catering service for an event with 40-50 guests, and we couldn t be happier with the experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and every guest raved about how much they enjoyed it. Chowon Restaurant made our event truly special, and we are so satisfied with their catering. Highly recommend it for any occasion!
Restaurants that require tips. Koreans, please don t go..
Its so delicious and the price is good too
Great Korean restaurant for dinner with my family and friends.
Food was amazing. Going back and will order takeout
The japchae is so good. You gotta try these noodles.
Its been a long time since Ive had a really friendly hall server, and Im satisfied with the quality and quantity of food.
Eight of us had a meal. The waiters attitude was very bad. She felt like she had to do this job. She looked like everyone owed her a lot of money. The fried rice tasted terrible, the shrimp felt plastic, and the rest was just average. I won t go there again.
I took my parents out for lunch and they chose this restaurant. The menu was not what I expected because most of the Top 10 dishes (see attached photo) I have never heard of. My mother and I shared a Haemool Jungol (Spicy Seafood Hot Pot) while my father enjoyed a Saeng-Tae Tang (Pollock Stew) . My parents were very happy with the meal and the price was reasonable. My mother just wished there was more shrimp in the Jungol. Service is as expected for a traditional Korean restaurant which means not necessarily warm but responsive. Seating is in wooden booths which are comfortable.
Worst food and rude management that I have ever experienced. I decided not to pay the tip but the guy kept insisting for 15% tip I told him its voluntary Please dont insist but he was asking for it from my family members quite embarrassing for me. I paid $10 to defuse the situation in front of my family and other customers. Food was not cooked well and all it tasts is the red chilli No salt. our sea food was not fresh. Will never recommend !!!
It tastes good. However, the parking lot is so small that parking is difficult.
They only took our order and served us, but they boldly asked for a tip, which was a little embarrassing. Even though this is Canada and there is a tipping culture, in other restaurants there is a service where employees come by and ask questions, but this was the first time that they only served the food and then called back after paying because the tip was not included. I think tipping is a personal choice, not mandatory.
One of the much better korean restaurants around.
Very delicious Korean food. Must visit in North York.
My go to Korean food restaurant.
If you want to taste original K-food, I recommend this place And, very good service as well Parking: Lot a free parking lot in front.of store, both side of building
I LOVE IT HERE
The food was delicious and friendly
I ve been coming here for years, even after moving away from this neighbourhood. The food is always great, with large portions and flavours. They make you feel and feed you like family. My sons love their table top cooking bbq and eat more here than at other restaurants. Parking: Can be busy during peak hours.
Usually, we order bulgogi from there. The main dish and side dishes are perfect. Sometimes they give less side dishes, but overall it is awesome. My family loves this food, and almost every week we order from this restaurant at least once.
The food is delicious. The lady boss even grilled the beef intestines for us
Ive been this restaurant few times since last couple of years. And ordered through Uber Eat 1 time. Always good food and service.... my wife loves this restaurant too. Its too far from my house but whenever I have a chance, will try again. Food
Really nice homestyle korean food. Their food is authentic and they had a great selection on their menu. The radish kimchi banchan and their homemade makgeolli were out of this world.
Broooo this place is legit. They have delicacies from a historical Jeollanamdo, South Korea. The Banchan is so good, and they make their own Korean makgeolri rice wine. They have really good fish stew, ligament soup, beef and pork. They also have ale that other bbq places dont have and everything is so bomb! You cant find anything like this in Toronto. The fish sourced from only the best you gotta at least try the menu once when you visit Toronto you also dont need to worry about parking because theres plenty! The owner is super nice and so are the waitresses. Very chill and fun vibe.
Black goat stew. Very deep broth. Hearty portion. Good quality meat. Fresh side dishes, they were crisp and delicious, unlike some places that would give you wilted, browning, soggy bean sprouts. Great rice. Stew came with traditional dipping sauce that most fake/lazy korean restaurant s omit. Kind staff and clean place.
Decent Korean restaurant!!! Every menu is decent and genuine Korean style
A little pricey, but food is good. I wouldn t recommend the sweet and sour chicken. The pork seems to be more meaty
Some food was good and some other was not cooked well. However, the one that I had was very nice. Food
I ve been coming here for almost a decade now and the food is always fantastic here I don t know how it doesn t have 5 stars. I am always greeted with a friendly welcome and food is always on point. I have a problem ordering the beef bulgogi I believe it s called (inserts drool emoji)
Actually amazing and youd never know it unless taking the chance to eat here. I had a Disney Ratatouille moment
At the end of the year, my hometown soul food comes to mind and I visit the meadow with my wife. I had a drink with spicy seafood, seasoned octopus, and refreshing steamed skate after the meal. I finished the meal with a thick nutritional soup. I think this feeling will remain for a long time. Highly recommended!!!!!!!
The soup is delicious I came here for the first time after hearing rumors from people around me. Of course barbecue The first time I tasted squid kampungi Like nothing Ive ever experienced before It was a great menu The kimchi served here is The best in Toronto I m sure I want to go again
Boiled flounder has a lot of meat and tastes like the countryside.. It s killer.. it s the best.
This is it! You dont need to sacrifice taste cuz youre in other country. This is the best place to enjoy Korean cuisine. You can find cheap eats, and you get what you pay for. This restaurant is absolutely not one of them. You can enjoy fine, flavorsome meals at a decent price. Worth to pay, highly recommend to anyone who misses the original, Korean food taste! Ive never found such a delicious place in Toronto. These days, its hard to find a restaurant like this even in Korea. (Those of you who have recently come from Korea will know what this means) Ive tried most types of meat and stews, and it really tastes like what I ate at a Korean restaurant. The main dishes are delicious and the kimchi is also delicious. Food at restaurants all have similar sweet and salty tastes, but this restaurant is not like that. Ive tried a variety of dishes, but basically, they dont skimp on ingredients or seasonings... the meat and vegetables are fresh and theres no smell. These days, you cant even buy a sandwich with $10, so I think this price is reasonable. Somehow.. other restaurants were empty without any customers, but this was the only one with customers.. something that only I didnt know... it was already famous among tastemakers...
The stewed flounder in a hotpot style is a highly recommended menu item that can be enjoyed over low heat until it is empty. It felt like I was enjoying myself at a Korean restaurant. Next time, I want to try cutlassfish stew.
Highly recommend goat soup
BBQ is expensive and just give u a little bit. The teast is worse than before. What happened in this half year?Sad, I was enjoyed this place before.
The taste of the food changes every time I go. If you just give up and go eat and the food is delicious, its fine. Dont have any expectations and go with a light heart.
A good place to enjoy Korean food, located at the corner of Yonge St. and Drewry Ave. in Toronto. Food is really good, spicy and crunchy.
Amazing Korean restaurant, if you want to try Korean food, this is the place I was really happy with the excellent service provided by the staff. Table has call button thats really great! Food : 5/5
Thanks great staff good food
We got here to order beef intestine. To get sitting at the BBQ table (the one with the grill), you have to order minimum 2 portions, so it costs at least $40 if you want to eat the intestine :( But it did come with a soybean soup, several side dishes, no rice though. Over all, the food was okay. But the lady who served us were so nice, she asked if we knew how to enjoy Korean BBQ and taught us, super friendly! I ll recommend this place if you want to truly enjoy a good customer service. P.s: I don t know if it s just us but we drank tons of water at night after that meal.
expensive and not worth it, disappointing place
Good Korean homemade food and portions
My friends and I just decided to go in here because we were around the area. It was so empty but went in anyways. I got the tofu stew (soondoboo) and it tasted sour and tofu was very rubbery I thought it was just me so I asked my friends to try it as well but they all agreed. idk how they would charge $20 for something and make it this tasteless. I initially felt bad that they had no customers but I understood why. There are so many other Korean restaurants that taste much better in north York. Pay for something that you ll enjoy folks.
Friendly staff, good service, and good original Korean foods
I ate the ecological soup. It was a bit spicy. But its delicious
Our go to place! Staff is the best! Food is even better !!
Food was amazing, service was top notch.
I requested an order Be kind I hope that the family that eats this food is healthy.... All employees Its hot, thank you for your hard work take care of yourself thank you
Had a wonderful time here having the Korean BBQ. You are able to order by the dish. The meat was good and the sides were very nice. Will visit again!
I just said hello. Not Something Special
Great chicken
Too tasteless. Very disappointed in all respects. When I go out to eat, I should feel good, but when I leave, I feel worse than before I went. It was like that. Bitter...
It is a restaurant that tastes good with clean and fresh ingredients. The staff are friendly and it is a restaurant that I want to visit often.
it is delicious. Thank you
Good person, good food.
Pork bone soup and soondae guk are consistent comfort foods. Its a local institution for a reason.
Found this place really comforting. The atmosphere and the vibes. Plus older people and families eating here says a lot about how authentic the food is. (Yook Kae Jang) and the fried chicken, it was so good!! And the portions!! A Hearty meal. Especially in this weather The staff are friendly and helpful as well. Definitely will be back to try other dishes.
The waitress is always hungry for tips. Asking for tips and looking precisely into your bill to understand your tip amount.
Had a wonderful lunch in this restaurant. We ordered (Yook Kae Jang) and Fried Chicken. The food was really delicious and homey. Felt comforted after eating their food. The flavors were amazing, and the service was excellent. Well definitely be returning for more delicious meals. Highly recommended!
WE ordered Tofu soup and GamJatang ( the basics). The two soup bases was made accordingly : one pork bone, one tastes sweeter with seafood at the bottom. Lovely place, will come back with my girls for intestine bbq.
We came pretty late near closing time and they still served us. Been coming here for years, and must say that the service and food is always amazing. The kampongi chicken is so good you need to try it
Authentic Korean restaurant!! I have been there a few times already. Quick service and amazing food .
This is my favourite restaurant when I m craving some Korean home cooking. Even though we live half an hour away, we re always happy to make the trip. I highly recommend the kkanpunggi (fried chicken), japchae, bulgogi and kimchi pancakes, although you can t go wrong with their Korean BBQ offerings. (Side note: The owners must have upgraded their ventilation system, as my hair and clothes don t smell after leaving. ) Service is friendly and efficient, and I m always happy to support this family restaurant. I hope they stick around for the long haul!
There are various types of food, I also tried Dongdongju and had good Korean food.
The owner is always so kind Makchang is also very delicious :)))
I didn t really enjoyed the taste of the food there. There are other nearby Korean restaurants that serves much better foods.
Best Korean Restaurant on Yonge St.
,North York Korean restaurant with Korean menu Various Korean menus including Korean barbecue A restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of things
I came here on a Tuesday evening with my family. It wasnt too busy when we arrived so we were seated fairly quickly. Cho Won is a super friendly family owned business which is hidden from the main street of Yonge St. The entrance is off to a smaller street on Drewry Ave and it has free parking in front of the restaurant. We ordered the Mandoo Jungol which is a dumpling soup with vegetables in hot pot. As with a typical Korean hot pot, it is loaded with a variety of ingredients such as tofu, mushrooms and green vegetables. The dumplings was very filling and filled with deliciousness. There were no spiciness added to this jungol which are perfect for those individuals who are non-spicy lovers. We ended up ordering an extra noodle because there wasnt enough but the portion size is good for two people. Unfortunately, it doesnt include rice. There are other Korean hot pot places that do include rice. It comes with side dishes (banchan) that include tofu, spicy cucumber salad, kimchi, bean sprouts, soy braised peanuts and braised potatoes. These 6 side dishes can be refillable so feel free to eat as much as your hearts content. Our family loved the dumpling hot pot more because it was easier on our weight (after the fact) and tasted healthier. For the price it was listed at ($38.99), I would say it was worth it and would recommend giving this a try . Overall, the service was friendly and they had a button to call the server over. I definitely would come again to try out their Korean BBQ experience.
I love korean food and i have my usual go to spots but none of them were nearby. All I can say is..Whatever you do ...do not miss out on this place. Its a tiny little place with some really good Korean dishes with tables set up for BBQ if that is your thing. I highly recommend the pork bone soup. The broth of the soup was so rich and delicious and the meat came off the bones effortless. Also.. the staff are super quiet but ever soo adorable. Ill be back again 100%
Our favorite spot for Korean food! Always delicious and fresh, very friendly staff! We love this place
Been coming here for more than 6 years now. Always the best service and the best quality food!!!!
Its amazing~~Try to catch it first!!!
I hed porkvelly at chowon Best of best in north tork
the best Korean restaurant in the GTA
Nice food. Good service. You want to be here for sure
It was a restaurant I used to go to quite often before the coronavirus, but since it s been a while since I visited, it s changed a lot. I ordered one serving of makchang and one serving of tripe, but even though it was $25 each, no rice was provided, and even the stew had to be ordered separately and was sold at a slightly discounted price... Obviously, in the past, if you ordered makchang, you were provided with rice and stew. If it had tasted good, I would have enjoyed it, but the taste was also significantly downgraded. The tripe came out uncooked, and both tripe and makchang were really poorly seasoned. I asked for salt and pepper separately, so I sprinkled it on and ate it, and even when I ate it with pickled onions and ssamjang kimchi, it was bland. I asked the server nicely, but he just told me that its the same... rice and stew are no longer provided. In the end, I paid $42 per person including tax and tip, and it was such a waste. I like Korean food, so I mainly go to Korean restaurants, but there are so many disappointing places these days, which makes me sad.
The taste of makgeolli was a bit unpleasant. It wasnt clean and the taste at the end was really bad, and when I inquired at the store, they said it tasted like its always been there... I ordered pork belly and giblets, but I only got a lot of onions, and the amount of meat was really small, so I was a bit disappointed.
Rice wine tastes so awful. Foods were okay but I wont go this place again.
Fast and relabel service
Honeycomb pork belly is so delicious
Good deal with the set dinner. Go for the non-marinated beef rib and seafood pancake
Food is delicious and service is good
My friend and I visited this restaurant around a week ago in an afternoon. We were hungry and craving delicious and authentic Korean food, so we decided to visit this restaurant. My friend told me she loves this restaurant and often goes here for a good meal. That being said, this was my first time trying this restaurant. However, unfortunately, the food is not that great. Plus we didnt even finish our food yet, but the server came up to our table and handed us the bill and the card machine. And we looked around the restaurant, there was only one table (except us) occupied, and no wait line in/outside of the restaurant. I genuinely would like to know why this happened. Maybe the kitchen is busy? Or was it about to close before the stated close time? I honestly have no idea. It was such a disappointing experience. I always love visiting Korean restaurants because of their welcoming service and, of course, the food. But this one, I just feel confused and disappointed ...
The steamed monkfish is so delicious. The grilled meat and seasoned green onions are also excellent. The bathroom smelled and it was so cold under the table.
Good food
If it werent for the other Korean restaurants being closed on Tuesdays, I might not have stumbled across this establishment. On the outside, it just seems like your typical Korean restaurant but wow, their menu is HUGE. The staff here arent very fluent in English, which is a quiet confirmation that this place is going to be good (lol). Anyhow, a lot of their dishes for sharing are huge, we had to request for something small that would be suitable for 2 people. Some tables are set up for kbbq, but we only wanted something simple. Ive never had the Al Tang (spicy pollock roe stew), so when the waitress recommended it, I was like ....woah lol. They packed it with tons of roe and personally, I dont think everyone will like it (for the rough and funny texture), definitely something new for me. The portions for all their dishes are pretty large, and at $25/person, we were definitely well fed. We even packed some food home for lunch. I wasnt as impressed by the side dishes, where are my favourite sweet potatoes and seaweed? Their service was pretty good, just remember to press the bell behind you to get their attention. This place deserves a solid 3.5 stars, but giving them that extra push for having good customer service and large portions :)
The bibimbap was delicious and satisfying. I found it to be the perfect amount for me... The presentation was also great. Unfortunately, I was so hungry I forgot to take a pic. It was the perfect dinner on a chilly night. We ordered from Uber eats without an issue. I didnt try it but my daughter said the pork bone soup was also great!
Very great place for birthdays and friends and family events. Service is very good and fast. Even assist in guiding new kbbq grillers by starting the first grill once it comes in! Went there 10+ times and service and the food is consistent and great! Must recommend for families and as a date spot
good
pork belly and cold noodle is good
The food is good very authentic. The service and the staff is friendly. Price is lil on the expensive side but its worth it.
I ate squid gospel and soeju. It tastes just like the soft and plump taste I had in Korea. It was good The interior design and service are disappointing.
I use to LOVE coming here before the renovations. The prices were reasonable and food was delicious but after the renovations (this was way before the recent inflation) the prices on everything went so high especially on my most favourite dish chicken kanpoongi!! Its soo expensive to buy that dish now! Not fair. Id love to come back but the high price turns me away.
Very friendly and excellent service Very delicious Very cool
Amazing Korean BBQ. Service was friendly, food was delicious, and atmosphere was great. We will be back to try more entrees only comment is it was hard to not eat too much! :)
Everything we tried were so good. My new favourite Korean restaurant
The taste wasnt bad but it wasnt great. There was nothing wrong, but there are other nearby places that have same dishes at similar price that taste better in my opinion.
Incredible Korean food.
Vegetarian options: Korean food has several vegetarian options. Parking: Lots of parking.
Love the food here Authentic Korean food! You should go taste it I hope the server can be more kind to the customers Thanks!
Best Korean restaurant in north York Toronto.
Dogani seasoned radish~~~~radish is delicious It tastes better than in Korea. Its the best!!!
Had the barbeque and food was okay nothing special. Prices were a lot higher for what its worth.
Just meh. Cho Sun Ok at Yonge and Clark is much, much better.
Unedibke gopchang
Come here for team outings /or with friends. The food is delicious! Recommend to come here for late night snack.
Amazing food. I ordered the Bibimbap and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was very clean!
Clean and tidy
Great Korean food! Highly recommend
Good Korean Restaurant Parking: This restaurant is located in the plaza(Yonge&Drewry), so enough parking space there.
Delicious food. Side dishes were great too.
Best place to eat beef intestines( )!!
Korean food..
Long time customer here. We loved their dishes as well as BBQ. Unfortunately, when I had their BBQ last time, they changed their policy that only 1 lettuce wrap was included. it became chargeable 2+ wrap. Such practice is not common in Toronto Korean restaurants. I am sadly to say goodbye to their BBQ. Please let me know if they revert this practice.
Food is good but personally I think it can be better, maybe I just have high hopes for this place!!
Good!
Too much has changed The taste is okay, but the price is too expensive. I went during the day, but the store was too cold. Is that why there are no customers?
I grab lunch from this place every other day, during the lockdown as well. Since 2 months ago this old lady (perhaps owner) started working as the cashier. She ignored the lunch menu and charge me as full price dinner every time . I had to remind her about lunch special and print me a new bill. One time is fine, but pretends that you forgot EVERY TIME? No way. I understand all business is suffering from Covid, but getting money like this is totally unacceptable. I will no longer support this restaurant
Delicious food, reasonably priced, great!
Green onion chicken is very delicious. Its a shame I couldnt take a picture because I ate it all.
Food is tasty and staff is really nice
The taste of makchang is good, but the quantity is too small for the price...
love their Bibim Nap
Ill be honest, I only order one item from this place: kkanpunggi, spicy garlic fried chicken. Its not cheap, but the portion is generous for family meal. Even an hour after takeout, the chicken was still tasty and not soggy (imagine how it would have been if I ate it in the restaurant right away). This food should be their primary offering, and everyone should get a taste.
When it was opened for dine-in, I would give it 4 stars. The quality and quantity of the takeout food is not deserving of 4 stars.
I found hair in my food again. This is my third time seeing hair in my foods. When I picked up my foods i can see the kitchen employee was working without a mask and hat. No doubt why I continuously find hair in my food.
Makchang is $20, tripe is $20, so thats $40... I obviously ordered makchang and tripe, but I was confused because it seemed like there were more potatoes, peppers, and garlic. It was delicious, but the price was really outrageous. The price went down. I dont think I will visit again unless you increase the quantity.
Great time and great food! Pork belly and marinated ribs were amazing. Anything marinated really.
Awesome restaurant! Customer service is fantastic!! Kwanwoo and owner were very friendly! Will highly recommend this restaurant
Ive tried so many Korean bbq but this spot makes me keep coming back. Amazing service and a must try spot
Good place to eat!!!
I love their Squid with hot and sweet sauce! Definitely a great dish to share.
If you order Osam Bulgogi, you will be disappointed. I heard 6 squid. Its really too much. I talked to the staff and they said it was because the squid was too expensive.
Great food, great service
They are all kind and very × 99 delicious. Everyone is so kind and the food is delicious! Highly recommended!!
Highly recommended one of the best Korean foods in T.O. to dye for super delicious you can chilled with your friends with good foods. Yum the food suitable for a group of 6ppl
A server are not wearing a mask properly. The owner at the counter don t say anything to her. Not recommended if you are concerned about covid infection. No surprise even if you get infected
Tuesday dinner time Ordered Galbi and Seafood pancake. $30 GALBI was dry, not seasoned properly and tasteless, definitely frozen meat or prepared 5 hrs before. Seafood pancake had barely any seafood in it for a $24 price tag.. service was so so but was an awful dinner. Had much better korean food for less. Let the server know but no resolution.
This is a really good Korean restaurant, and I absolutely love the food here.
I was satisfied
One of the best korean food in north york by far. Such speedy cooking times, highly recommend. Also a great selection of unique menu items we love to see itt
Aside from the fact that its not that good, its the worst. If you want to save money, I recommend not going.
Grilled mackerel + soybean paste stew is delicious.
Best Korean food in the GTA - friendly service and best kampungi?
Kind of expensive for what you get but maybe North York prices have just gone up
The server looked so annoyed with me, it s my first time here, she can t even show some patience. The food was lower than expectations too.
The Best Korean food Amazing Service Very clean
Food is okay/affordable but the owner is very rude.
I ordered takeout from the restaurant and the food was nicely packaged and was ready quickly! The portions were large and the appetizers were tasty. The inside of the store was clean and they even checked my temperature for contact tracing - very thorough and responsible.
Friendly..delicious
