Good portion of food with decent price. I like their tangsuyuk because it’s crunchy and the meat is not too big. Their noodles are good too. I remember they used to have pork belly jjajangmyeon but I think they got rid of it. Not a huge fan of their mala dumplings. It was just mandu with a mala+mayo sauce which is not worth over $10. But most of their food is decent and this is a place I would go to if I’m craving for new fusion Korean Chinese food.
good food good price, taste like mom‘ homemade,no extra msg and oil,we will definitely come back
Ordered the jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk! Tangsuyuk was crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The pork was not over fried nor dry. Good tangy sauce, they had a lot of onion, but no apples or peppers like how many other places do it. Still good though :) the jajangmyeon was more Chinese jajang flavour, different but great, chewy noodles, came with a quail egg and side of pickled radish. Service was fast, and the servers were nice. The restaurant is upstairs of the optical store. Clean and well aerated. Small parking lot in the front with 3 additional spaces in the back I think. Would come back :)
Decent price for the quality of food you get! ✨Noodles ranking: 1️⃣ Seafood white champong - a garlic butter cream soup. 2️⃣ Blackbean sauce noodle 3️⃣ Seafood champong Overall, would love it more if the noodles could be chewier. Not a favourite: Tang Su Yuk, the pork was dry.
Crispy eggplant dish, great noods! I recommend spicy ones over creamy one.
The fried eggplant was so crispy and great with some rice - really hard and unique crunch. Pork belly with vinegar had perfect balance between fatty and acidic Cool interior. Feels like a chain restaurant (in a good way). I wish I tried the champong. Extremely affordable, the prices are fantastic.
Great food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices! The deep fried pork belly strips wasn't too greasy and larger than expected portions. Enough to share with more than 4ppl. Staff was great, attentive and friendly. She even offered us free radish refills! Price and taste of the Jajangmyeon was good at 10.99 and filling! The Champoong looks good so I will try that next time.
Pretty good Korean Chinese place! Happy that I tried. Their pork jjamppong was great. Perfectly cooked noodles and nice soup. A bit salty though. Fried eggplant was super tasty. Very crispy and nice sauce. Well balanced! Black bean noodle - tasty but nothing special. Creamy shrimp was interesting. The balance of sweet and salty was great. I enjoyed it. Overall, pretty good. Would come back again.
Noodles and fried pork was too much batter
Every time I ordered Jjamppong Gobbae, the soup was too little, so I asked for a little more, but it was always too little..? When I put it in a bowl, the noodles couldnt even be fully submerged in the soup.
Review in 2019: Great new korean owned chinese place! I was shocked by how close they made food to taste real chinese dishes. The service was great and the vibe is great too! Great place to hang out and drink w friends w good food! Updates in 2024: Food is still superb!! Always tasty! Never been disappointed with their menu.
Cheap and cheerful, great limited selection of tasty dishes, and cold draft beer!!
Everything else I ordered tastes good except jjajangmyeon/dongpayuk was under my expectation.
Since it was a Jjamppong restaurant, I ordered Jjamppong, and it was clean and delicious. However, there was a little less seafood, the noodles tasted a bit like flour, and it was disappointing that it came out slightly cold. But surprisingly, the dried eggplant was very delicious. The fries were crispy and salty. Good to eat with beer or rice There were quite a few tables (based on weekdays) and customers kept coming in, but the service didnt seem to be good because there was only one server.
Korean style Chinese cuisine, and as Cantonese we found the food so Amazing! Decent price too, will definitely come back. Food
Hidden gem for Korean Chinese food. Their jjamppong is rich and flavourful and their tangsuyuk is to die for. Definitely will be coming back to try some of their other dishes!
So nice
Always super delicious
Poong Moon I adore your food!! A solid choice for jjampong or jjajangmyeon OR tangsuyuk! will always head there when I m in the area
Ive been to all the delicious Jjajangmyeon restaurants in Korea. Jjajangmyeon, which is rumored to be eaten in just 6 months, is the best in the world... Jajangmyeon as well as sweet and sour pork are very delicious.
I ordered cream shrimp, black bean noodles, white jjamppong, and cream jjamppong, and they were all delicious! The cream shrimp had an oriental sauce so it had a taste that people liked and disliked, and the cream jjamppong was a more upscale version of the cream jin jjamppong. However, the overall food was so salty that I almost finished eating it, so I got bitten... I dont recommend it to people who dont like salty food... haha.
Amazing jjampong and very friendly staff with prompt service The jjambbong and kkanpung eggplant were very delicious and the staff was very friendly.
I had seafood jjamppong and black bean noodles (spicy). The server was friendly. However, aside from the fact that the hair came out of the jjamppong, the taste was very light and there was a subtle metallic taste. This was my first time eating Jjamppong without even a single drink. I was disappointed because the Jajangmyeon had a strong capsaicin taste and had no Jjajang taste. I came here because of the reviews saying it was delicious, but maybe the chef changed or something...I thought I knew why Cream Jjamppong was so delicious.
Recommend the spicy black bean sauce noodles and meat champong. The tangsuyuk breading was also nice and crunchy and the sweet and sour sauce was nice.
The food is good. The music in the restaurant was too loud for me. But the waitress turned down the volume for me Food
Baek Jjamppong had a really fiery scent and was delicious.
Really good jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup), jajiangmyeon, gampongki, eggplant and fried clams. They dont have a big menu, but everything is really well done. My go to place for Chinese Korean food.
The food came in giant portions and tasted even better than they looked! Loved everything we ordered
Absolutely lovable food. Highly recommended restaurant for people who are looking for some authentic food.
Food was good and attentive staff.
The noodles was fine but the shrimp side dishes were came with the shell, which does not worth the price
The taste of the Jjambbong was good, the degree of frying was perfect, and the ingredients seemed to have been kept fresh, so it was a very satisfying dinner! The price was set so that two people could order more than one dish, so it was suitable for eating with a small number of people. Overall, it was kept clean, and the worker had great sense, so he kept checking to see if there were any inconveniences, so there was nothing to regret! Rather than having the taste of a classic Chinese restaurant, it felt like it had a little more personality to it, which made it even more attractive.
Great spot for some food. Really enjoyed the Mala Mayo Dumplings
One of the best kept secrets on the yonge strip. In a city where most champong just taste like a shin ramen, this place has a soup that stands out fabulously. The only champong to have a true wok hay flavor.
Very good and amazing staff, and so tasty cream shampong, every weekend I visit this restaurant
Finally found an authentic place for jajangmyeon. It s been more than five years. I m glad I came. Love it, would come back to try other dishes.
their cream jjampong is a must try! the service is friendly too.
One of my best favourites places to eat All food is delicious Food
Poong Moon is one of my FAVE restaurants for delicious Korean - Chinese foods! It s so tasty and flavourful - I love the cream champong, the seafood champong, and the fried eggplant is SO yummy and crispy! Highly recommend!
So yummy and the waitress is so nice
We have visited this restaurant a couple of times now and the food and service was great. Would recommend anyone to try this restaurant out.
Ordered 2 cream white jampong got the wrong ordered and ask for a replacement. They only replaced 1 of my 2 orders!!
Delicious!
Our go to place! Love their cream jjamppong and pork belly on rice! Servers are super friendly too! Parking spot is limited though.
Their Jjampong tastes genuine!! Fried shrimp with creamy sauce was another hidden gem. They are worth trying. Food
During a family meal, cream jjamppong came out with a semi-finished dish, so I told the server and got a new one, but I felt bad. The servers were friendly.
I normally like this restaurant but whenever I take out and eat delivery or take out, the proportion is smaller than dine-in. That s quite disappointing
Its a shame that its a specialty store because the noodles are factory-made. The service was good and the food was generally delicious.
The Jjampong is so delicious!
Small space but cozy; still fit a few parties. Food was good and unique. We had deep fried spicy eggplant, cream jjampong, yooringi, cream shrimp, jjajanmyun, and calamari with fries. Everything was fresh and made quickly. The jjajangmyun wasnt as sweet as we like but still okay if youre craving it. The other dishes were delicious. One worker there who was very busy but did a good job keeping up with all the tables. Parking: Also parking behind building
Cucumber salad and spicy campong are good. The rest are a little bit too oily.
Very good thanks!
Korean-style Chinese restaurant run by Koreans
Hidden gem near Steels and Yonge Minimal menu items to choose from, but if you looking for a place to drink, fried snacks, and a handful of main noodle dish. this is the place for you. Both seafood noodles and black bean sauce noodles were 5/5 didn t really have high expectations since it felt more like a bar restaurant than a food restaurant. But it ended up giving us SURPRISING US. - great example of never judge a book by its cover Oh my god! The fired chicken was also FLAMES 1. It was SOOOO GOOOD! 2. CRIPSY ON THE OUTSIDE, JUICEY IN THE INSIDE 3. The sauce was the perfect balance between soury spicy and saltiness. THE BEST SNACK WHEN DRINKING SOME COLD BEER highly recommend location for some chill time with friends Check out my TikTok for some video action
Small parking lot
Food were tasty. Not a very traditional Korean Chinese food style but unique and quality food. Lady who served our food was friendly.
Korean fusion restaurant that is less known than its supposed to be for the quality of food.
Was craving jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet & sour pork) and this place makes them both great! Very tasty and bouncy noodles. Pork was very crispy and sauce was tasty! Service could be better. They werent really attentive and too a lot of effort to wave over.
Chinese restaurant
I had the meat jjamppong takeout and it was so delicious! The portion was good and the ingredients were evenly distributed, so I was satisfied!
So-so
I went there with high expectations because of the good ratings, but I was disappointed because the taste wasnt as good as I expected. To be honest, it tasted like the soup sold in packages at Jjambbong grocery stores. Jajangmyeon and instant lopa taste the same way. Of course, everyones tastes are different, but I dont really want to recommend it.
I just bought two pieces of Jjajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork for takeout, but there are no chopsticks or toilet paper. I cant eat them because Im eating outside.
Excellent food!
This is something.
I can say that this is by far the best Jajangmyeon that I have eaten recently. Of all the pinch Jjajangmyeon, this is the most delicious. The only thing thats disappointing is that the meat in the Jjajangmyeon is so delicious, I wish there was additional meat.
Food with limited selection but good quality. This place has parking right outside of its entrance.
Food is good! But If you would include 18% tip for group table, at least service should be good. When the restaurant include tips(18~) in the bill for group table, server usually take care customers a lot. I don t think they deserve 18% tips. Didn t get pickled radish. They seems busy but if they wanna include 18% tips on bill, they should have better service
The person serving us was friendly! Good
I can t say its bad but its not good either. They have weird standard taste .. Tangsuyuk is bad. The sauce is weird too.
Great portions, price & qq noodles. The cream champong was surprisingly not heavy and the pork hock was extremely tender.
Great food, just okay portion, good service, slightly expensive for the portion and food but understandable. Overall pretty decent and will be back
Fast friendly service. Got seated quickly for a Friday evening. The beef champong was flavourful and had the right amount of spice. Would definitely come back to try other menu items.
I ve been there for dinner on May 5th. The food was good, the waitress and manager(owner perhaps) were nice and very kind to change our table to a vacant window seat very quickly. So we reserved a table for 7 at 7:30pm again for Mother s Day. Five of us arrived first and there was only about 30% occupancy. They prepared a table with a hard, narrow, shallow bench for us at the back. As we are all tall and big, and there were several tables available at the windows so I requested to relocate our spot. The waitress tonight(not the one I met on 5th) tried to refuse combining the tables for us even I said I don t mind having a person sitting at one end. She ignored us and made us stood there like idiots until I asked her again. Finally we have seated at a 4 person table waiting for her to pull one more table to our side. When I came out from bathroom my brother and his gf arrived standing beside our table(my brother said they stood there almost 5 mins and the waitress ignored them). Finally we gave up waiting and take the narrow bench seat as the waitress wished. My elderly mom and I felt back pain after sitting on the approx. 12inch deep non-ergonomic bench and needed my 6ft+ 200lbs+ bro to switch seats with us. It was a bad experience for Mother s Day dinner caused by a rude stubborn waitress. Again, the food was good and worth 4+ stars but sadly the waitress ruined our mood.
It was my first time to visit here. And I really enjoyed the foods!! At first, sweet sour &.pork was perfect withe the sauce. If you want the sauce on the side pls request when order:) Also, creamy shrimp is really sweet and tasty This restaurant has reasonable price with high quality!! My top 3 Korean Chinese restaurant now
Their noodles are so good. The tangsuyuk batter is great because its not too thick.
You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. The jampong (seafood or beef) is really good. Umami seafood broth with some heat. Jajangmyeon is also very tasty.
Pork rice it s the best. Noodles it s just average. The place it s pretty small and busy. Dunno if I can make reservations or not.
Never had Korean Chinese fusion before and this honestly was so good. The noodles are so bouncy and chewy and portions were quite big as well. I really liked the creamy seafood champong--it was like carbonara noodle soup. I also recommend the ebi-mayo dish. It comes with these rice krispies scattered around the plate that taste so good in the sauce lol. They should make an appetizer thats just that, if they dont already Everything was delicious, the spicy dishes are actually spicy (at least for me lol eat at your own caution), and although the entrees are probably meant for one person, they were all very shareable, so you can try a lot of items on the menu
Recommend to order sweet sour chicken and the seafood noodles(both red and white soups are good).
Recommend all the dishes from the menu!!! Especially the eggplant, Cream Shrimp, noodles and more! Also try out the Baijiu HighBall! Very unique and refreshing.
The sweet and sour pork tastes different from other places and is really delicious.
Stomachache after eating
no service that Korean girl! Ignore customers and did other stuff Never come again impolite to customers. Worst restaurant
Black bean noodle (nothing impressive
Cream Champon - broth thats very creamy, slightly salty and kind of resembles carbonara. Noodles were soft and slightly chewy, and grip the broth well. Had some mussells, squid and lots of onions. Oriental Cucumbers - Crispy hand crushed cucumbers coated in a umami, aromatic and acidic sesame oil vinagarette. Extremely addicting. JajangMyeon - Noodles were on point as it gripped onto the black bean sauce well. Extremely meaty and umami sauce that was addicting as well. Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts!
Great food, quick/courteous service and a great vibe. Found my new fave drink, the Yantai Highball
Cream champong (good amount of seafood, mild spice) and cream shrimp (very crunchy and saucy) were delicious. Large portions that left me stuffed, and great prices too. Service was a bit slow, especially since the restaurant was empty.
Super accommodating for us when we had some dietary restrictions for pork. Waitress was very nice and checked on us after eating too Food is also delicious, their blackbean noodle was also the best I can remember having in Toronto.
BEST Chinese Korean resto I ve been too. Seafood champong is STELLAR!!! The creaminess mixed with the seafood and a hint of spice was perfect! The tangsuyuk was light, crispy and chewy. The jajangmyeon was also sooo good! Loved the pieces of pork belly on top. WOULD definitely come again!!!
The Cream Champong and the Tangsuyuk were amazing! The blackbean noodles were meh. Service was fantastic given it was 1 young lady all by herself. The food was great and the price was very fair. Would def return if I lived anywhere near here.
Wonderful experience in here! I fully recommend the posted foods. You guys never be disappointed with those foods
Its okay not impressive. didnt like the cinnamon flavour in the sauce for Sweet sour pork
We grabbed their mapo tofu before for takeaway, it was a bit sweet as it is the Korean version. But this time, we did dine in and had their jjamppong with both the meat and seafood, the tangsuyuk, and the cucumber salad. The service was a bit slow (I think there was only one person) and we were sat at the back so it was a bit harder to get their attention. It took a bit to take our orders, then the food came and the portions are huge. The tangsuyuk was very tasty and had a good ratio of meat. I havent tried meat in jjamppong before but this one is full of flavour. The broth had a nice kick to it and it wasnt too spicy. Id probably try the cream one and jjajang next.
There are many delicious food
Good late hour dinner place!
Super nice staff and the food is even better! Decent parking space definitely a spot to return to.
Jjambbong restaurant
first time tried champong here and i really liked it.
Taste is so so
Creamy seafood jjampong is very good
Now a fav spot in Willowdale for exceptionally clean food always prepared with exquisite flavours, spicy if you like my wife and lovely service every time
Food: 2/5 Champong tastes like instant ramen. Service: 0-star no smile no greeting no appreciate Worst Korean-Chinese restaurant in town. Food : 1/5
I went there because I heard it was delicious... but the food wasnt particularly delicious (especially the seafood jjamppong) and no matter how busy it was, the servers had no manners as if they were too busy... I dont think Ill ever go again because the service response is very clumsy and the way they speak doesnt suit the customers. It seems that server training and more conscientious and faster service are needed.
Pretty busy for Monday dinner. That is a good sign. Ordered Black bean saucenoodle with pork belly ( $10.99(w/tax) ) which was pretty ordinary, nothing special for jajangmyun. I was hoping to get more wok hey, torched, smoky flavour but I did not get any of that flavour note.,However still not bad for $10.99. Broth for Seafood White Jjamppong($14.99) was fantastic. Was very nice to see generous amount of mini octopus, shrimp, mussles, etc. Broth tasted like between Korean Jjamppong & Japanese Ramen broth but pretty clear broth rather than being cloudy. Huge portion of Yuringi($17.99). This could have been great food to go with beer. We were seated with a table for 2. Once next table left, our wait staff combined 2 small table to make more room for us which was a very attentive service. There were some drunk Korean men patrons who were making loud noise. Other than that very nice decor and atmosphere to dine and have some drinks.
Although Ive never experienced Korean Chinese fusion cuisine previously, the offerings here prove to be exceptionally delicious. The mapo tofu departs from traditional authenticity by adopting a more Korean-inspired approach, where sweetness outshines the numbing sensation commonly associated with the Chinese version. Its undeniably a distinctive yet enticing variation of the classic Chinese dish. Both the sweet and sour pork and the jampong align with the expectations of a high-quality Korean restaurant, delivering flavors as anticipated.
First of all, the food tastes great! The staff are also friendly.
Best mapo tofu rice I ve ever had!! Recommended and will absolutely come back for more!
made us wait an hour to be seated. table was given away to another party. called again, they told us to wait 10 minutes. they never called us again.
I wish I could review the food here but I m still waiting outside to be seated. It s been 50 minutes now. We called and overheard that they gave our table away by accident. They told us 10 minutes to get a table ready, 20 minutes has passed. This place has wasted my time. Hope you learn to have better service.
Waited waaay too long to get a table at this place (over 50 minutes). I saw people coming in and out of the restaurant so I called to check how much longer and they forgot I was on the waitlist.. never coming here again. Not worth the poor service
We ordered the Tang Su Yuk, Black Bean Noodles, Seafood White Champong, and the Mala Tofu. All were amazing dishes, I really love their Black Bean Noodles (jajangmyeon) and their Seafood White Champong (jjampong). The atmosphere was dark, it had a bar and chill kind of vibe! The waiter was always checking up on us, he was very nice.
I had a disappointing experience at Poong Moon restaurant. Despite there being an available seat for two, we waited over 10 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we waited another 10 minutes without receiving a menu or water. While it was a weekend and busy, having only one server for the entire restaurant led to a frustrating wait, and we left without even getting a chance to try the food...
The restaurant changed a lot. The food qualify from uber eats and Dine in is totally different when the price of uber is much higher than dine in which I dont understand.
Poong Moon is a late night spot that s great for bringing friends, and if you re looking to have some drinks. There aren t many spots at the plaza for parking, but you re able to park your car by the streets at the neighborhood beside (after 5pm on weekdays). I was also thrilled to see they were projecting anime on the wall, and also have a cool manga wallpaper inside the bathrooms. We opted to try their signature Black Bean Sauce noodles, as well as their Beef Champong which you can substitute for rice option instead of noodles. The food took alittle long, around 15 mins to come, but it was definitely worth the wait. The black bean noodles were delicious, and definitely very generous on the sauce - I couldn t stop slurping it down! I was also surprised with the Champong. The soup was very tasty & flavourful, with lots of beef inside, but also surprised to see a good amount of seafood as well. There s also some glass noodles inside, and the texture was just right - not too chewy, but soft enough! We definitely will come back again to try their other Champong and dishes :) IG: Ayeween
The part-timers were friendly and the food was so delicious...
I took out Dongpo Pork Rice Bowl and the rice was a complete congee. I heard that this is what happens when you microwave meat that is dry on the outside and has been made for a long time, right? Probably not
I always used to order sweet and sour pork, cream shrimp, and meat jjamppong (very spicy), but I think the taste has changed since summer. I dont know about anything else, but when I always ordered Jjamppong very spicy, they made it so spicy that it hurt my stomach and the soup was really delicious, but since summer, every time I order it, it tastes more like Yukgaejang than Jjamppong.. I havent been back since.
Small but solid spot for jajangmyeon. Their original jajangmyeon is good and average in price with a good portion size. The rest of the menu is significantly pricier in comparison. They seem to be known for the white seafood champong, it had great flavour, lots of umami and theyre generous with the variety of seafood included in the bowl. This is a great spot for a casual lunch, but seating and parking is quite limited.
The seafood noodle soup is amazing, its not a chowder but better! The bean paste noodle wasnt as impressive - the sauce tasted too diluted. Food : 5/5
I went to Poong Moon with my elderly Korean parents recently. Initially I wasn t sure whether we made a right choice given how it looked more like a pub/bar instead of a Korean-Chinese restaurant. But don t look that fool you. The food was outstanding. My parents and I enjoyed it very much. The service was also great as well even though they were really busy. It s too bad that we live in Montreal otherwise we would be here a lot more often.
I used to order it often because of rumors, but since I ordered it a month ago, the price has gone up and the taste has become somewhat lacking. Has the owner changed?
Amazing place for authentic Korean food!! Great atmosphere!!
Jjamppong is a work of art~~
Came here last night for late dinner and it was absolutely delicious. We got the oriental chicken to share (little soy sauce, little oil, chopped peppers, chicken was crispy and the iceberg lettuce was soaked in the sauce so it was great to nibble on), seafood champong, beef white champong and mapo tofu. The tofu was not as spicy as some places but was very fragrant. Seafood champong was good too but the white champong was the winner. Just a hint of smoky fish flavour and it went very good with the noodles they used. Would definitely go again!!
One of the better ones in town. Wouldve loved to try the pork belly black bean noodles but they were all sold out.
Top jajangmyeon
Found this place and have been here twice within 2 weeks. MY Favorite Korean restaurant in Yonge finch. Signature Korean Chinese style dishes, very reasonable price and large portions.
The champong noodles were great! Cream champong is pasta like fusion dish and is one of my favourite dishes here. Their seafood and beef champongs are a classic with the taste of fire . Tang soo yuk is not traditional taste but is still very tasty in their own right. This was my second time here and would def return again.
Cream jjaampong (champong) was so delicious!! I highly recommend the cream jjambbong. It s really delicious :) The price of the jjajangmyeon is reasonable
Re. the food quality, overall experience is not bad, the shrimps with head are not fresh and there are too much onions. The portion is decent. Re. tipping, instead of using the pre-set %, we have the habit to round up the total amount on the bill to its easier for us to track the expenses. For example: $71.35 will round up to $80. Unfortunately, at Poong Moon, our round up # missed their tipping expectation by ~ 1.5%, so the server chased us to ask for at least the difference in tipping. If you have expectation, include the you-are-happy tip in the bill would be a great way to save troubles for both parties. Tipping is customary and is not mandatory. Its your freedom to decide what is most important to you, and we have our freedom to never return and recommend this place to anyone.
Noodles are great and flavourful
Ive only been going to Poongmoon for the past 3 years or so because their jjampong is the best in town compared to: manlijangsung, sunny dragon, bukyungsung, etc.
Perfect for a late night meal and drink! thank you!
Best champong in The GTA. The Jjambbong is as delicious as Chinese restaurants in Korea, and the sweet and sour pork is pretty good for a Canadian restaurant!
Nice
Pretty under-rated place! Unfortunately their signature red champong was unavailable because they were not able to source the ingredients from Korea. We ended up ordering their white based soup, the jajangmyeon, and the mapo tofu. The jajangmyeon was excellent, the wife loved it and wished she got that over the white broth soup, which I thought was excellent as well! Everyone agreed that the star of the show was the mapo tofu! The way it was prepared was very Korean in flavouring and made it very distinct from the usual more traditional Chinese style mapo tofus. I do highly recommend this place since they have a small but excellent and very focused menu! Well definitely be coming back!
I went there because it said it was open, but why is it closed?
Finally found a good Korean soup restaurant on Yonge street!
I wish the portion for the jajangmyeon was a bit bigger but it was very delicious
Ordered jjajangmyeon, seafood champong, and mapo tofu rice. Unlike many great reviews, we were very disappointed by the food. Except for the champong, the jjajangmyeon was underwhelming, and the mapo tofu rice tasted really sweet, so we could not have more than a bite of it. We notified of this to the server, and she did not seem all that concerned other than saying its usually not that sweet. Id rather go for one of the other Korean Chinese restaurants in the area.
Basically tried all the items on their menu and I have to say, they serve hits! Would definitely recommend their cream champong, cucumber salad (addictive!) and their cream shrimp (omg, soo good). Pricing is soo good too, honestly they could charge more and I d still go. Great for dates, solo and dinner with friends!
Very tasty and reasonable prices
This place was a delightful surprise for me. Ive ordered the Sweet and Sour pork. Taste was nothing like the traditional that Ive tasted in any other Korsan restaurants. And yet it was satisfying to my taste. Also the staff was nice and friendly. Im bringing my friends next time to this place.
I have lived in Canada for over 20 years and have lived in Vancouver, Toronto, and other small and medium-sized cities. I live in London now. In the meantime, Ive been to all the delicious restaurants... It s the best Chinese food that suits Korean tastes ~ It s even cheap If you dont think about expanding the menu, maintain the taste, and keep the prices slightly affordable, it will continue to be a big hit.
it is delicious
Got beef champong and pork Hocks rice. Gf loved her dish so much she dreamt about it the same night. I enjoyed the rice bowl but the side sauce was too spicy for me lol
TL;DR: Excellent Korean Chinese fusion place with delightful taste, economic price, and generous portions. The Champpong is now one of my go-to especially in cold weather. The Cream Champpong is light and delicious. There are a generous portion of seafood and I love the chewiness of the noodles (akin to a hybrid of Chinese thick noodle and ramen). I thought the broth would be thicker like the Carbonara sauce found in other Korean dishes, but it is very similar to much lighter sauce from Creamy White Wine Mussels with quite some black pepper (warm and hearty). I also ordered a Mandarin Rolls on the side, the crust has the right amount of crispness. We (group of 4) went in a Friday night and the place is small and quite crowded. Were lucky to be able to walk-in and get a table right away. But I would recommend reservation ahead if youre planning to go for dinner. What truly shocked me is that this place beat my expectations despite the sketchiness. When you grow up with certain cuisines, you get sixth sense to detect red flags from restaurants. This place checks off quite some that I almost skipped this hidden gem, but Im so glad that I havent! Fun fact: The restaurant name Poong Moon sounds like (side door) in Cantonese, which makes up the idiom (heterodoxy/deviation from orthodox standards). A very befitting name for a fusion restaurant :P Parking: Small parking lot in front of the restaurant.
Update: Thanks for making me and my family feel not wanted. 4 adults and 2 kids and they would not seat us even though there was seating available. We even offered to make a 4 people table work but was refused. Two visits to Poong Moon so far and I have yet to be disappointed by anything they have on the menu. My personal favourite is the Beef Champong; a hint of spicyness, the aroma of wok fried veggies, tons of toppings and a flavourful soup base make for a really good bowl of noodles. The Tang Su Yuk is also deep fried perfectly and the is coated in a very gentle sweet and sour sauce. The thinly slice onion pairs very well here. Definitely give them a try :)
4 adults, 1 six year old and a baby. Asked for a table. Host said they do not have a table for 6. There was an empty 4 seat table. Explained the baby can sit on my lap, my kid doesnt take up much room and we can add a seat on the end of the table. Host was firm and said they dont have a table for 6. Felt very unwanted. Embarrassed as I told my in-laws who were visiting from Niagara Falls that this place was great.
Its always friendly and delicious. They even sell draft beer, so its great to go with your meal!!
Customer service was pretty terrible here :( also the parking is so badly designed, so if you are driving, very easy for you bump your car into another car so be careful
Jjajang is okay, but jjamppong and other dishes seem to be the most delicious in Chinese cuisine.
Came for jjamppong, but their deep-fried eggplant stole the show
Amazing jjampong! I tried the white beef and my friends had the spicy seafood and they were all good! You can tell the broth is cooked for a longtime, the noodles super fresh and they also char the onions unlike other place. Highly recommend this place!
Our new favourite spot for our jjampong cravings! The broth was incredibly flavourful. It can get busy on weekends so make a reservation prior if you can.
Food was fast and good! Best jampoong in town! This is my 2nd visit and it was awesome Food : 5/5
Food is good
Love the menu & food here
One of my new favourite spots. Good portion sizes at a very affordable price. Food arrived quickly and was really tasty. Only issue was the parking is a bit tricky, we had better luck parking on one of the streets behind the restaurant
Had the Jajangmyeon (Noodles in Black Bean Sauce) and the Tang Su Yuk, The portion size was good for the price and very tasty! Good service and decent amount of seating.
1 star for food, but only one good impression was nice waitress on our first & perhaps last visit. Even the main food Chambong was served passing more than half an hour w overcooked veges in thick soup not tasty or fresh at all. It was hardly Korean style seafood or tasty Chambong but could be side dish of alcohol. Blackbean sauce noodle called Jjajang-myun was too sweet no better than Jjajjaroni ramyun sauce. It is unbelievable high stars for the food of this restaurant.
The hot spicy broth paired with the seafood works so well for those cold nights. It s a hidden gem on Yonge and Cummer, has a small cozy space and everything is clean. The servers are so polite and friendly. Nothing gets better than this! Jjampong is around $13.99 for a bowl and Tangsuyuk is $15.99 ish. The tangsuyuk was so crispy and straight hot out if the pan! The sauce tasted sweet and plummy with that hint of sourness. Overall, we paid $25 each (including tip) and it was a great dinner.
At first we thought that they have pretty interesting variety of menu. We quite like the oriental chicken, however the champong was just ok. I thought the beef champong has more flavor than the white version of it. Whats most disappointing for us really was the service. I get that theyre busy but we felt more like an annoyance to the server than a guest. All in all, it was just an ok experience despite interesting menu offering which turned out to be...as well just ok Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on the second floor and I dont believe there is an elevator.
Delicious seafood and creamy champong, also the black bean noodles!
Nice place and food
Cream champong (noodles) is very tasty.
Best jjajangmyun in town.
Awesome food, friendly service. Walked out after the meal and said wow that was some seriously good food. Going back for sure!
Great food and great service, interesting Chinese drinks to try.
