When comparing prices of Squid bbq between Nov. 4, 2024 and Dec. 15, 2024. (Uber prices). It s 15% more. From Dec. 14, 2024, no tax is applied for foods by government for two montha. This weird or suspicious raise is for compensation of loosing tax ? If it is not, still 15% raise is too much raise.

Im not even exaggerating when I say that I think this is one of the top 3 things ive eaten all year. The yummy special is amazing and sooo w0rth it for the quality & quantity of food, as well as the variety you get in sides. the meat is so juicy , tender, and well seasoned, without being overbearing. I remember their location near Yonge and College I used to frequent a couple of times a week. When they closed that location i was devastated and never was able to find something similar. I was soooo pleasantly surprised to see this pop up on Uber Eats and was wondering whether its the same food/owners, or just a shop with a similar name, and I truly felt blessed today when the food arrived and found it tasted exactly how I remembered from their downtown location 10 yrs ago. This will definitely be added to my regular rotation! 1000000/10 recommend

If I could give 0 starts I definitely would. The old Korean guy there was so rude for no reason. He asked if we re okay to wait for 40 minutes and we were like okay and after he said that you can go somewhere else to eat. Like who says that if you don t want people to eat at your restaurant then just shut it down. Such a pathetic experience here without even getting the food!!!!

The older man at the counter was so rude! They look busy so I m waiting until he has a minute to take my order. The first thing he says to me is your order will take 30-40 minutes then goes back to the kitchen. I wait cause it looks like it s only him and 1 other person so they re probably bombarded with orders and what not. The second time he comes out and I m about to order he asks is it okay if it takes 40 minutes or more? I tell him yes and he says there s other places to eat around here. I just left at that point cause what?! I think he didn t want to serve us so he got what he wanted.

I ve been getting food from this restaurant for the past year and a half. The taste never disappoints.

dont bother about the service. its a food stall at a food court. order your food, dont ask too many questions. Its one of the best korean spots, they used to be located on bloor. I drive all the way up here to grab lunch.

Nice and authentic, reasonably priced, made to order, generous portions. Recommended, especially if youve never tried Korean food, come and get some bibimpab or order a plate of galbi (grilled short ribs). Plates come with a couple of free banchan (side dishes)

The old man at the till is probably one of the rudest people Ive met. If you dont like doing your job. Stay home. Replying to your response the person at the front is you the face of your business. When a customer asks what do you recommend and he goes on a tirade. I dont care about whats going on in the back you should still be polite. I hope thats not vague enough for you. And so you know I wrote the review as I was waiting for my order.

Its so delicious. The taste of the seasoning is so addictive that you remember it again the next day after you finish eating it. Could you please open it in the Kitchener-Waterloo area? And is there a reason why the beef is sometimes soft and sometimes too tough? May you always prosper ~~

So excited to find this place again! We used to visit Yummy BBQ on Yonge, about 15 plus years ago. I was so happy to see that theyve stood the test of time and that theyre a lot easier to access. Food is as tasty as ever. Still great price and quantity! Had the Yummy special and it was massive! The cooking tastes homemade, like your moms or favourite aunts cooking. Soul food. They dont kid around when you pick spicy, but the flavours are so good, youll want to keep going. The owners are charming and have a great sense of humour! Ive had fun reading the responses to some reviews here. Salty af! Must try, you wont regret it. I might see you there because Im heading back as often as I can.

After finding out about this place, I have already visited three times in a week. I tried grilled ribs, seafood soft tofu and soybean paste stew, and pork bulgui. The taste was great, the portions were generous and the prices were good. I saved it as a regular restaurant in my heart and when I want to eat Korean food. I plan to continue using it every time.

Food is great and the value of BBQ dinner is unbeatable for the taste and amount of food. The location is not ideal but definitely worth a detour to grab a bite from the restaurant

Great take out option for either lunch or dinner. Always a great meal whenever Im near the area. Would definitely recommend the bbq chicken, but cant go wrong with any item. Definitely go spicy if you enjoy spicy. Already thinking about what to order next time.

One of the yummiest places to get Korean food. It s definitely a hidden gem. The prices are fair and the portions are HUGE. I can get at least two meals out of one bbq combo. Got take out for the family and everything was packaged well and stayed secure on the way home. Will be ordering again. The man at the cashier isn t the most friendly but it s just him and his wife so he s usually busy. But he s never been rude towards me when I go to order.

Owner cut me off as I started ordering with a NO! And then just left and went to the back lol. I stood there for 30sec but he never came back EDIT: since the business replied, I d like to point out the time was 2:03PM when you didn t bother to let me finish ordering. Perhaps you re also forgetting I was in line for nearly 10 minutes while you were, understandably, preparing the order of the previous customer. I ordered my food and received the wrong order . I called to let him know and he was very rude to me telling me that I placed the order wrong and called me crazy . Needless to say I wont be ordering again . Ive been a customer for several years this is very disappointing Edit : because I had the time to post it thats why . There is no need for defaming anyone. Youre just rude and miserable. Ill come back when its just your son working there.

Since my original review was 5 years ago I thought I would give an update. Everything is cooked fresh and tastes great. This is our go to when we crave Korean. Favorites are the BBQ combo dinner, spicy rice cakes, steamed dumplings and kimchi fried rice. We are still very happy and my only tip is that if you are calling in or walking in read the menu and order with the proper menu names.

Excellent hidden gem! Food is homemade and delicious. Highly recommend. We got bbq pork. It came with kimchee, tofu, and sticky rice. One of the best Korean food place we had in a while.

For a food court meal, it was delicious. If Galleria on York Mills is closed at 7:30pm, come here, which closes at 9pm...pleasantly surprised! Much more choises as well!

Ive been supporting this place for over 10 years. My extended family probably spend over $1000 a year on this place. Today I went to try and do another order with my mom. Nobody was manning the place. We looked through the doorway and saw he was eating. My mom asked if we could order, he laughed and kept on eating. Never going there again. If you dont want to serve people, retire. Plenty of other places want business, no need for such rudeness.

Love this place! My brother introduced me to Yummy BBQ last weekend and we ve been talking about this place ever since. It was busy at lunch and the man told us it would be a 30+ minute wait. Long story short, we came back for dinner. The craving was real. Shoutout to the father and wife that run this place. We will definitely be back! EDIT: I used to really love this place. Changing my rating from 5 to 2 star. Food is great, but my business has been turned down 5 times in a row. I literally have eaten here twice more since I posted this photo 8 months ago. Each time the old man stating that they were too busy, followed by scoffing or shoo-ing me away. A lot of attitude for nothing. Why wouldn t you call? Why would you come at 7pm? Lol. Man, I love the food here but it s such a risk as it could prove to be a big waste of time. The other day, I tried bringing my younger cousins here and he again turned us away. It was 4pm on a Thursday. So we went to Grandone instead (the fried chicken place right beside). We ate indoors and proceeded to see him serve the next family that came. So I have no idea what this guy s issue is. I suggest calling ahead if you still want to get the food. Hopefully they pick up.

Stir fry beef - portion good for 2. Got it spicy and had a nice kick to it. Short ribs - good portion, got a little spicy and it wasn t chewy or too fatty. Don t forget to get some kimchi & tofu!

This is the same restaurant that used to be near Yonge and College. I was so upset when they closed down, but to see that they have not changed their portions and quality of food makes me so happy. I highly recommend coming here and trying their short ribs. They also have a lunch special if you are not phased by Korean sidedishes.

This is always my go-to spot when I m in the area. Don t be intimated by the price(fair), they come in HUGE portion relatively to the price. The taste is also on spot. I love the fact that they provide buckwheat tea (as service) when it s cold. You don t expect service in food court (by owner being smiley) but the care they put in the food and the tea proves everything!

Huge portions, fresh food, good price. Haven t been here since the snowstorm in 2013 and I m glad to see that they re still around! I always order their BBQ (pork is my go-to but they have other options). They also have lunch specials from 11-2 everyday so you can get the same stuff for cheaper. I ll be coming back!

The husband owner definitely has temper and is one of a kind. His job is to turn customers away and reduce the work for her wife. Good man. One star taken for his rudeness. The lady chef definitely knows how to cook Korean food!

Awesome Korean food with generous portions and solid prices. Definitely try the rice cakes here, theyre fantastic. Yummy BBQ does not miss, whether youre a meat lover or vegeterian. I eat from here all the time. You might think this is just another fast food/food court place, but its definitely a step above and puts some regular restaurants to shame.

I like to come here for lunch: whether it is fried rice or tofu stew, the food is very well made and the portion is so generous. It feels they genuinely care about your having a good meal. The free side dishes are also big! The mall is quiet on weekends that we went.

I find the food so good. I drive an hr away just to order out. The restaurant is in a food court so not the best of atmosphere but still a good deal. I definitely recommend trying it out.

The portions at this place are huge, if you are craving KBBQ but dont want to go to a grill house, this is definitely the way to go. The Beef Short ribs were excellent. Chicken and pork are good. One down side was the rice was a bit mushy and bland. The reviews about the cold behaviour of the older gentleman cashier are accurate, but. Id gladly endure a bit of displeasure in taking my order when the food comes out this good. Their is a free parking lot, if you are driving to this place. Definitely give them a try.

Hi there, I order from Yummy BBQ all the time. Sometimes every week. I enjoy the food the price is great. But today I had a very large order, birthday celebration at work. I order through Uber eats as I always do. It was a $300 order that was CANCELLED after 1 hr of the restaurant making the food. I called the Yummy bbq multiple times and no one picked up the phone. I called Uber eats which stated the restaurant cancelled the order. My question is, if you knew you couldn t fulfil the order, why start making the food and cancel it after an hour of making the food ? There should be some communication. Very disappointed by this business practice.

Seriously some of the best Korean food I ve ever had. The kimchi fried rice is the best ever. The short rib and the beef are my faves. It may be a little pricy but the portions are humongous. Kudos to the old couple that run the place. I hope the business continues on for a long time since it s seriously underrated.

This called BBQ restaurant was located in downtown core in early 2000. This restaurant WAS very good place for resolve your hunger. Now open in NEW location with some changes. If you do not have budget, but meat lover without thinking quality of food as me, this will be your place. As I said do not expect quality or taste, but ONLY volume of food and meat, then good place to visit. Do not take a look for Special one they proudly showing on the top of menu. Buy only lunch specials, otherwise you may regret on amount of food and qualities. Also do not forget, this is a food court restaurant.

I came here for lunch with my girlfriend, the food was mid at best, probably below average for the price. We ordered the short ribs and bulgogi. As Im writing this review my gf and I have had the runs since the afternoon, which Im pretty sure is because of food poisoning from eating here. Will not be back, there are far better choices out there. The owner was also very rude. Did not seem like he wanted the business.

Last place I would ve expected to find the BEST KOREAN FOOD IN THE CITY!!!! NOT your average everyday Korean joint; everything is made with the upmost quality and care. You can tell the ingredients are all super fresh and all the dishes are loaded with vegetables. Portions are big and they don t skimp on the meat; no paltry portions swimming in sauce here. This is hands down the best Korean place in toronto. The owner may be a bit surly but it just adds to the experience. All you soft boys that complain about his demeanour need to grow some hair on your chest. I am a loyal customer. This guy and his wife are amazing. I will never pass up an opportunity to buy from this place no matter the wait.

The food itself is quite good and the price is reasonable. The portions are big too. If you go through Uber Eats, this restaurant is quite good. However, more of an issue arises when you try to order in-person or by calling. Every time I ve gone to order by personally interacting with the older man at the front, he is rude and acts as if you re annoying him by putting in an order or asking anything of him. He s hung up on me on the phone a few times before and has yelled at me in-person for not ordering via phone call. It s off-putting for customers to be treated like this and honestly does a disservice to the great food. If you do want to order from them, you might as well spend a few more bucks and order online to save yourself the hassle of having to go through customer service .

We agonised over the decision of putting this review up or not but after reading the other ones we thought we should. This was definitely my worst take-out experience ever ! We ordered four items for a total of 70$ish. The older gentleman (owner I assume ) handed over the machine for me to tap after he had input the amount. The machine read purchase and with the tab button below without displaying the amount. After I proceeded, the older man held up the print out from the machine that it was charged double and mumbled that I might have pressed on something wrong on the card machine. I calmly assured him that I didn t, and that I tapped right away as he handed over the machine. I then asked to refund me cash as that would probably be a possible solution but the older man said they would not do cash refund. So we waited for another 15 minutes which he had done several tries on the machine to cancel the transaction but without any success. I asked how long I still need to wait as my 2-year-old was gone with my sister-in-law and it would soon be his bedtime. He suddenly got really agitated and yelled, don t rush me! I replied him that we were expected to be home soon and would prefer to know how long it might further take. Then he yelled at me in Korean and threw my card hard onto the table saying it s my fault to input the wrong amount!!! My card landed right in the gap between his cashier and the wall and almost fell through which for sure I would not have a chance to retrieve. This rudeness was simply unacceptable. His son came out from the back to ask what had happened. I asked him if I could communicate to him directly instead of the old man since he was getting out of control. Then the old man took our food away, yelling something in Korean only for his son to bring it back out. Finally after another 30 minutes and numerous tries, which his son tried to help but the old man blatantly pushed him away, the transaction was finally cancelled. His son quietly told us that his dad is 70 years old already and this would not be the place for great customer service. Yet this is beyond just customer service; we were wrongly accused, rudely treated, and poorly served (our food would be colder than room temperature by the time we got home which was only 10 minutes away) What we have experienced was undoubtedly unprofessional. Food was good but I would say use Ubereat to avoid the hassle of dealing with them directly.

The cashiers uncle is very bad. He received the wrong money from us and threw my credit card. His son tried to stop the dispute with us, but he still didnt give up, and even abused his son in Korean! A terrible takeaway experience.

Your HOW TO order guide: The place seems to be run by a husband and wife in their 70s. The duo gets insanely busy with Ubereat, Skipthedishes and in-person orders. Dont go and expect modern-day service. You have to go with patience and humility. Several times he said he cant serve me. I have told him Ill wait and he eventually comes around and takes my order. Ive waited 45 mins sometimes. What you should expect is amazing food with service from a different time, where we arent always on our phone and in a rush. Youll get the no soup for you experience, if you dont have patience Enjoy the food while you can! Not do to lack of business, but these owners need to eventually take it easy. Get the Yummy Special , enough for 2 for $29!

Wow. I walked in and there were regular kids in there after maybe drinking or not. No sure if they have there liquor license. The lady asked me what I wanted and I told her. The kids made a comment maybe cause I was wearing a mask or putting me down cause Im not the same culture. After the comment the lady said something stern to them in there language. and I just walked out. Very very bad vibes. I will only review if my experience was really really good or really really bad. We are relatively new to the neighbourhood and often times crave for some tasty Korean food. Whenever we order from here we dont regret. They have big portions and reasonably priced. Tasty side dishes and all taste fresh. Its charcoal bbq so you have that nice smokey flavour. I love their stews as well. Anything you order, you will enjoy it.

For the price this is some of the best Korean food you will get. However, I will warn against buying 4 or more Yummy Specials at the same time. My 3 friends and I love the food but the owner always declines our attempts at ordering 4 of our favorite menu item at the same time. Our workaround is to order two at a time. Even then he got suspicious. How else can I put this.. He is suffering from success and so gets to pick his customers. Have been eating here since 2017 or 2018 and am delighted each time I can score a Yummy Special.

Ive been going to this restaurant for over 8+ years and always leave extremely happy. This has been run by the same grandma and grandpa that it opened with (over 70+ years old now). Literally only them two the lady is in the back cooking the food, and the man is at the front taking orders and running the the place. They are both very nice but there is a language barrier, but the service is always great. After closing their restaurant on Yonge Street (which was extremely busy) they moved to a much smaller food court restaurant, but still make the same amazing BBQ COMBOS or YUMMY SPECIALS!! This place is a gem in the rough and wont be around forever. Its a must try in a quite location, with lots of parking and seats to eat. Parking: In a plaza area with lots of parking. Can get busy at night on weekends. Wheelchair accessibility: Big food court area with tons of space to move around, especially the washrooms

Order steam & fried dumpling while waiting for ice cream. Really glad that we try this place because the dumplings were really good. The owner is patience with me even tho I interrupt his meal time and couldnt decided nor see well with my old glasses. He took the time to ensure we order the right thing. Highly recommend coming here!

The food here is amazing especially south of the 401 in North York. The only problems is because an older couple is running the business it s really difficult to order anytime during dinner. Hopefully they could find some help. Honestly, 5 stars if the old wasn t so grumpy at most times. Overall, can t complain about their bbq meals.

Food is amazing. But the owner really makes it hard to order what you want. I tried some of my sisters kimchi that came with her meal and I wanted some also. I asked him for two small containers and I will pay. He refused and said I dont need that much kimchi.. The container was the size of a small gravy cup! He also took numerous pictures of us while we waited for food from the place beside him. Very disappointed with his attitude. My sister and I were very friendly with him yet he still refused to serve us certain things. Only excuse was that we dont need that much food.. My sister and I arent fat by any means but this man makes you feel like you are overeating or something just by ordering a lunch combo and some extra kimchi! I most definitely wont be going there again. I was humiliated and offended by that old man.

Very tasty short ribs. Kimchi and side dishes in the dinner special were quite delicious! Pro tip: Ring the bell at counter if you want to order, got yelled at for not using the bell. 5 stars for the food, 1 star for the grumpy old man attitude.

Don t order from here if you have an even slightly larger order (like more than 5 things). They either won t take it or will cancel it if you order on Uber.

My favorite BBQ restaurant. Their lunch menu is amazingly priced for the big portions of food you get. Its always super filling and the customer service and quality of the food never disappoints. I highly recommend anyone looking for a good meal to try this place. Even though Im moving far away I will always stop by here whenever in the area, its that good.

The price of food has gone up by $4 in two years. Its a shame because it was my favorite restaurant with great value for money. Bibimbap went up from $11 to $13 to $15, and Gamjatang went from $9 to $11 and is now $13. The quantity or quality did not improve as much as the price. Its unfortunate, but I hope you prosper.

Their food is A+. Just tried them on a whim the other day and definitely going back. Thanks to the lovely old couple for adding some extra side dishes for us.

Just rediscovered Yummy BBQ! Started taking my son when he was a baby. Used to go when they were on Bloor, when they closed that location we went to the Yonge location. Its been 5 years but I found them again. My son and I felt like Korean this eve and we mentioned how much we missed Yummy BBQ. On a whim I Googled it and found the latest location in Don Mills. Called in the usual order, Yummy Special and Spicy Rice Cakes with chicken. Just as good as we remembered! So happy to know that we can get our still get our Korean fix.

Hands down the best beef bulgogi in town. The beef has this awesome bbq aroma and very well seasoned. The portion is huge! Awesome homemade side dishes as well. The business is ran buy the cutest couple. Will definitely be back very soon. Give this place a try, trust - it will not disappoint Enjoy!

Yes, the owner can come off as being rude but I feel it comes with him and his wife literally working everyday for the past 20 years since I ve been going there. For the price you pay, quality and quantity you really can t find anywhere elsewhere in the city. Highly recommend you try the Yummy Special it includes three of the most popular meat Kalbi (short rib), Bulgogi (Beef) and Chicken. It comes with rice, 2 pieces of Mandu (Korean dumpling) and egg battered zucchini as well as two - three side dishes (Kimchi, Tofu, etc). If you re super hungry you might be able to eat it on your own but me and my husband will often split one and it s more than enoghZ

The food was great and portions were hugeeee. I love it!!!!! Edit: 6/11/20 The old guy on the phone was rude. I asked if it is possible to substitute rice with bean sprouts. He replied with, Dont eat Korean food. Find somewhere else. Korean food always comes with rice. It is better if you order through third party delivery so you dont have to deal with the dude.

Finally found you after 2 years! Been going to Yummy since 2005 in Mississauga. Then Bathurst & Bloor...then Yonge & Wellesley. We thought we had our last meal there 2 years ago. Great food, excellent rice & meat portion. Flavours are not overpowering despite the red look of the food. The smoky charcoal flavour of BBQ is in all of the meats without being burnt. Katsus are light and dont feel oily with a well made piece of pork wrapped inside. The sauces taste home made. Banchans that come with the takeout are fantastic. You definitely do not come here for the service, as the owner told me that i was ordering too much! Just be mentally prepared when you visit. For a food court place with quality food at fair prices, cant really complain.

Owner told us he was too busy to serve us. Why are you open then? Never been turned away from a restaurant during business hours. Youve been at Mallard Rd how many years under an established franchise and you cant keep up with the demand. Gave their neighbour my business instead(a single lady who is warm and welcoming and took a while to make meals for my two friends and I but didnt turn us down at least).

Food is delicious! If you go at lunch they have lunch specials and portions are huge!! Food is tasty and def worth it if youre craving some korean bbq!! You have the choice of mild or spicy, meat already comes with rice and it has a variety of sides (ie kimchi, bean sprouts, tofu and reddish just to name a few). Just be aware though, call ahead and place your order. If its too busy and you have a big order they may not always take it as its only run by a husband and a wife. Hell let you know if order is too big and refuse if hes unable to. But its definitely worth it!

I have been eating their food for over 20 years. I was thrilled to find them again after they closed the Yonge Street location. Best Korean food in the city!

This was my second time ordering from this place (located inside a food court). I just want to first state that the food is pretty good. I would rate the food to be 4 out of 5 stars, but because Ive received such terrible customer service both instances that Ive ordered, I would give this place 2 stars. The food court itself is not busy on both walk in occassions. On my first occassion, my husband and I had tried ordering online via food services such as skip the dish, Uber eats etc...but their actual online store was not available online. I therefore decided to call, but no one was picking up their phone. Since I was heading off to the west end anyway, I was thinking to do a walk-in to place an order and to try to figure out a dish that was recommended by a friend. I was mellowy greeted by an old man. Since we were both wearing a mask it was a tad difficult to hear and understand each other. It was also difficult to figure out their soup dishes as I was trying to show him pictures of the dish my friend had ordered from him. Apparently they dont have the dish, which was odd considering my friend had bought the soup from their restaurant. Eventually in the end he figured out the dish, but it wasnt exactly what I had wanted because the picture showed the dish to be spicy and I had specifically asked for this exact same dish. I also wished he had told me the name of the dish he added on to my bill so that next time I know what to order Regardless, I had let it go. It was partially to blame for not fully doing my research, which was a bit difficult since I was not Korean and was not familiar with all Korean dishes. The order took about 20 mins, which I was willing to wait for. Second instance, the service was even worse. I came just around lunch time. And I was trying to place my order, but again he was not understanding what I was trying to order. Id like to believe that I dont have speech impedement. Anyway, apparently it was taking me 10 mins to order and I was getting lectured that it was lunch time and I should have called, now my order is gonna take 30 mins. I dont need a business to tell me what I should have done. I knew theres wait times for almost everything and I was willing to wait. But for me to get scolded like that with 2 other customers behind me is just embarrassing to me. I dont understand why he would feel this way, as I was not asking for my food to be rushed. I was just trying to get the order right, but he seemed like he couldnt be bothered nor was he interested in my business, in which by the way cost $39.55 for 3 lunch dishes. Lets just say I will not be returning to this food joint. Im more than happy to take my money to other restaurants who wont treat me like Im wasting their time.

Good lunch special for BBQ ribs (kalbi), only $11 and you get like 3 whole pieces, decent flavour, not amazing, but you get a decent value for this. Two giant scoops of rice, I couldnt finish it all and saved it for dinner. Owner didnt speak English well and seemed to have trouble understanding my order, but it was ok.
