3519 Bathurst St, North York, ON M6B 3B5, Canada
Unassuming kosher counter-serve spot serving falafel, shawarma & other Middle Eastern favourites.
Been going here for years and watched in real time as the quality has dropped. Used to be a great spot for shawarma, kosher or not, now it's only really worth the price hike if you keep kosher.
Dr. Laffa is a must-visit if you love authentic Middle Eastern flavors. Their shawarma laffa is incredible—juicy and wrapped in homemade laffa bread fresh from the oven. The hummus and baba ghanoush are both rich and flavorful, adding a perfect balance to the meal. You really can’t beat the quality for the price, making it an excellent value. Highly recommended for anyone who wants delicious, authentic food in a welcoming atmosphere !
Had 3 Chicken Shwarma pitas and a kids burger meal. Very few topping options for the pitas. No topping options for kids burger. Just a beef pati on a bun. The Toppings were freezing cold and actually cooled the chicken also. Cost us $86. Chicken was flavouless and seemed like it had not been on the rotisserie long enough to get the flavour. Chicken was picked from a steel bin. Not even fresh cut. Would never go back and will go put of my way to tell people not to go. Most disappointing food experience I have had in a long time.
The shawarma was completely flavorless and I'm pretty sure I picked off a piece of mold off the pita. The pita tasted completely stale. This place went really downhill I definitely will not be back. $21 for a shawarma and a pita is already ridiculous. Zero flavor and taste made it that much worse
It was holiday they were open, for a brunch. I noticed after ordering the meal beside from an exoensive brunch the Indian server who was preparing my meal salad did not washhands and asked her to wear gloves and notified the owner, did not do something although the glove box were infront of her. Feel disgusted with my meal anyway still pain but threw in the bin. Owner never asked the worker the reason. Stay away from this place.
Terrible food poisoning symptoms 2 hours after eating half a falafel laffa sandwich! I may need a visit to the ER. My elderly parents shared a shawarma laffa that I brought home an hour later. Hopefully they won't get sick. I had a shawarma sandwich at this place a few years back with no issues. However, this time the toppings did not look fresh or appetizing. Should've gone with my instinct and canceled the order.
Most expensive plate of rice and chicken I have ever had in my whole life 😭 $40 dollars for this portion ?? One dry pita bread on the side. Paper under chicken soaked got mixed with Chicken and got ripped off. couldn’t even take it out. Chicken is so rubbery and definitely reheated multiple times no doubt. But again, Is that suppose to be seriously $40? Other places cost like max 14-15 dollars for this. Literally everywhere else cost 14 for this much food with better toppings. But $40 for this portion ?? I am so shocked .
Fantastic! Fresh food and toppings, very kind and friendly staff, amazing Laffa wraps! Come hungry and skip your diet for the day, you'll thank me. We ordered 1 laffa wrap for each of us and we both could only eat half. Took the rest to go. This is the kind of place where you pay for 1 meal and get an amount enough to save half for dinner time. The shop is very clean and there are plenty of tables to sit 4 people at each with space in the restaurant to skip a table to be able to physically distance with other patrons. I'm very glad that I was recommended Dr Laffa's, and I am eager to go back again! I recommend the chicken schnitzel!
Awesome place and great food!
Best food, friendly staff. 10/10
Big size, not bad
Uber eats from this restaurant and was terrible. My pita fell apart. The food was ice cold upon delivery. Do not recommend.
Exactly what you would expect from a true Middle Eastern Shawarma Place, DELICIOUS.
I didnt appreciate the lack of hospitality and the lafa was dry and not properly rolled and on top of that its all overpriced $$$
Slow rude service, laffa was 27.00 not much chicken skewer, place ran out of laffa bread, restaurant could use a makeover. Fries in lafa were old and sogy.
We spent 20 minutes, after giving our order, being brushed aside for others who came in after us. When we asked if they were doing our order, we were told maybe in 10 minutes, sit down , at which point we left. Really? This is your business model? What poor service!!!
My wife went in today and was asking about a dish. And whether it had not made in it cause she was making purchases for the school. She was wearing a cross cause shes catholic and they looked at her cross specifically and then were very rude to her to the point that she had to leave the store. I think that says about enough. Kid-friendliness: Very judgemental and unprofessional
Food is NOT good and service staff are largely unkind. You can get better shawarma elsewhere and in a kinder environment.
Them will sell you a meat shawarma with quality meat but only a bit
Always fresh !
Outstanding Israeli style shawarma! Hummus was amazing as well, so was the guy behind the counter. I will absolutely return next time Im in toronto
The worst kebab Ive ever eaten, the first time I had to throw away the food, I had a sauce in my hand that turned blue! The chemistry itself does not drive, the service is not nice and cold goes for 17$ !! I dont recommend drama
Very poor service, short of staffs and bad customer interaction
Last time was closed! Food & service very good, the best falafel laffa! I would love to know when I search on google maps if the place is closed or open; next time, I am going to call them before I go Vegetarian options: Falafel Laffa is a vegetarian option, what I can say about is that I am driving 8 km to buy it Parking: Free street parking on old orchard grove. Wheelchair accessibility: All at the same level!
Love this place
I wanted my falafel in a pita bit all they had was a wrap It was the worst falafel I have had . I only could eat half and left the rest The balls were not fresh and seemed to have been warmed up Service was slow The restaurant had a dingy atmosphere not inviting at all Didn t even appear to be clean I would avoid this location
I ordered hummus with ground beef and laffa. The beef had burnt spots and cold spots, tasting like it was microwaved. The hummus was fridge-cold, not served warm as it should be. The laffa was chewy and tough, and did not taste fresh. Furthermore, it was swelteringly hot in the restaurant and it was not a comfortable dining experience. I really did not want to post a negative review, but sadly I feel the need to. Dr Laffa used to be wonderful - the quality has gone far downhill.
Great shawarma laffa and one of the best humus in the city
Last time we ate the laffas it was not a good experience; we paid so much and it had barely any meat or toppings. The same cant be said about today. We shared our previous experience in our order, and the sandwiches today were not only tasty, but filled generously with meat and toppings. We appreciate the staff for listening to our comments!
The worst falafel I have ever tried!
Walked in around 5:00 p.m. to order some food. Person buying the cash register did not make eye contact and was chatting on his phone. The food was decent. Portion size okay. But the price es are absolutely ridiculous. Its more expensive to eat at this restaurant than a fancy full service restaurant in the core. For me, Dr. Lafa has gone downhill and is not what it once was
Latest review: I am not sure what happened but they increased their prices significantly and the meat portions decreased. There is no proportion between the salads and meat. Unfortunately, I dont think it is worth it anymore. Previous review: Absolutely delicious and juicy (we got the shawarma in pita), excellent variety and very tasty. Dietary restrictions: Kosher
Great Laffa, love coming to see these guys, so friendly and they do their work with passion!
3 stars here is being generous. And thats because I know what it used to be , I used to come here once a week. Its quality has gone downhill. Shawarma rotisserie isnt working and the shawarma is being burnt now. The staff is really unhappy working there. Someone just needs to put some care into the place. Clean it up , get things working and improve the day to day operations. we all love dr laffa but this location is loosing business.
When I arrived at this place the parking lot was horrible I almost broke my front end of my car with all the huge pot holes. The front entrance of the restaurant was flooded with soapy water I almost slipped. The prices were Outrageous. The pita bread came out of a black garbage bag why ? I dont know. The taste was completely bland the bread had burnt marks all over it just careless. Cashier server was rude and impatient. There was no one in there except my wife and I that should have been a clue to stay away. With those prices and the stomach ache that I got and the dirtyness of the restaurant and almost slipping on the soapy water Im surprised that I didnt need a Doctor!!!! Lesson learned next time I will go with my first impression. Never again first and last Time.
Very dirty tables. Rude customer service. Cold and soggy shawarma. No soap in the washroom and 17$ for shawarma pita.
I ordered Falafel and was just ok. The guy making the order wasnt nice at all and tables was so dirty Food
Not good, got sick after eating
I waited 30 minutes and paid 20 bucks for a burned chicken shawarma. Their ventilation system is terrible so I couldnt even breathe in the restaurant. There are much better shawarma places for half price!
Awful. This place is filthy. The shawarma was gross and soggy. Dont waste your money. You re better off at shawarma empire - 100x better
Awful service, and even more awful food. Not authentic at all!
Possibly one of the worst shawarmas Ive ever had in my life. There are so many better places in Canada and across the word... I cant understand why anyone would go here. It tasted like a poor imitation of other peoples foods and cultural dishes. Avoid at all costs and warn your closest of kin. It also has a weird aftertaste and smell. I went here specifically for kosher food and I got something else, so horrible, and a weird aftertaste and smell.
Extremely authentic experience, youre almost surprised that you arent in Israel as you satisfy your taste buds and satiate your hunger with these delicious and great sized portions. Highly recommend
Amazing falafal, schwarma and sandwiches. Prepared fresh every order. The schwarmas are 2nd to none. There are many fresh and tasty toppings. I recommend getting it to go but th
Ordered a few main courses for take out. Spent $151 and the meal was mediocre. Hummus masabaha should have tahini, maybe some olive oil , there was nothing except some chickpeas, looked terrible. The main courses, the israeli salad was just cutup vegetable, no salad dressing, the grilled eggplant was suppose to come with tahini, of course there was none. The kebob dinner came with 2 lousy kebobs, you needed a magnifying glass to see them. The kebob was ordered with fries and israeli salad , all were mixed in the plate for takeout. the salad was warm from the fries, and it was just unappetizing, expensive, and disappointing. Not worth the money spent.
Used to come pick up lunch once a week during the pandemic and the service has always been pretty bad. Would place an order online, and they would only start making it once I got there because they didnt realize they had received an order. I was able to put up with that because the food was generally very good. Not anymore. Went for lunch yesterday and the gentlemen behind the wall didnt say hello and ignored me for 2 minutes while he was cleaning and couldnt be bothered to hand me the bag he had already prepared. I ordered the falafel which tasted like they were fried the day before. I ordered the shawarma hummus and he forgot to put my laffa in the bag. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and there was hardly any chicken. All 3 items had something wrong. Good food can make up for lack luster service, but now that the food is not good, I will NOT be coming back.
Great food Clean Friendly Kosher Vegetarian options: Falafal Kid-friendliness: High chairs
I have no idea what happened to this place. Up until yesterday I would swear that Dr Laffa had the best laffa sandwichs ever!! Yesterday I had the worse laffa sandwich Ive ever had... anywhere!!! Period!! There was an option to chat so I sent a message and of course nobody responded to me. It read... Just wanted to let you know, I swear by Dr laffa and we go in all the time and also order for pick up. I just picked up 2 laffa sandwichs from the Bathurst location and it is the worst laffa weve ever had!! You would never be able to convince me this came from Dr Laffa if I hadnt picked it up myself. It is ice cold, even though I picked up soon after ordering. Its at least 30% smaller than its ever been and the chicken is so hard and chewy that its like it was made days ago and the bread is so chewy you can barely get through it. My wife opened hers and is just eating the inside. Its extremely disappointing. I dont understand what could have happened unless they changed ownership. Highly do not recommend
The laffa bread was chewy and cold. The shawarma was burned and cold. We were dining in and it honestly felt like they didn t have the heat on (a few others had made this comment as well). The guy serving us was not friendly. We moved out of the Bathurst area to Bowmanville and I was craving authentic Israeli food. Big disappointment.
As authentic as it comes & the best in the city! We literally drive 30 minutes out of the way to go here and I ve never been disappointed.
Perfect!
My wife and I got the falafel Laffe and it was amazing, fresh produce and the Laffe was melt in your mouth . Highly recommend this place. Also portion size is huge. Vegetarian options: Wide variety of vegetarian options
Great shawarma
Not a bad spot for shawarma or lamb kabobs good portions if you order it on the Laffa bread. Eaten there twice both times were decent.
Takeout was delish! Super large Portions! Nice to Actually feel like you are getting Kosher Value!
The authetentic Israeli experience with great shwarma, huge portions, and the sweetest gentlewoman making fresh laffa before your very eyes.
I love this place, they always accommodate any special requests with a smile.
This is one of the worse place ive ate i got chicken rice no taste whats so ever rice was white dry no hot souce no white souce stay away from this place... i wouldnt even eat for free here forget paying
Amazing shwarma, amazing fries. Service was great and the cooks were nice 10/10 would eat again
Its a Dive.. bur VERY tasty!! Great to take home or a quick bite. A+
Horrible food that left me feeling sick to my stomach. I ve been to this place before and they might be under new management. Food quality has declined. I don t think the meat was properly cooked. I will never be back at this hole.
Like it s ok but not great. Bit of a ripoff.
Great shawarma, the salads are authentic and fresh. Highly recommend. Im a regular customer whenever Im in the neighborhood.
Great food, great service, great value
Nice people. Great food. Loud!!! Dietary restrictions: Kosher
Absolutely & consistently delicious & authentic! By far our favorite Middle Eastern food in Toronto, and have been enjoying it regularly for years since they first opened. The chicken shawarma laffa wraps with a selection of their amazing adds that you pick at the counter as they make it for you (hummus, tahina, grilled eggplant, chopped tomato cucumber salad, etc, etc) are super delicious and each one is cut in half and enough for two meals.
I had heard good reviews about this place before and yesterday passing by the store with my partner, we ordered a Shwarma and a Felafel wrap. The laffa bread was not fresh the Shwarma made my boyfriend sick, and I also got some stomackacke after eating Felafel. Not sure if they are always like this or only on Sundays, maybe they serve some leftover from Friday since they are closed on Saturdays.
Lovely food. Amazing service. I am a big big fan of Dr. Laffa. 100% recommend it.
Dietary restrictions: Kosher- we chose this restaurant based on dietary restrictions; however, it was the worse food I have ever had from a fast food, mid eastern food. Dripping in oil and soggy, even baking the fries couldn t get them crispy. Sad excuse for chicken schnitzel, over cooked and inedible . The baba ganush (egg plant salad) was okay. The food was not even mediocre, disappointing and substandard! There are no words to describe how bad it was! I suggest you go anywhere else!
Good food in general, generous size meals. Tomatoes not great, good eggplant. Not cheap
I was planing my sons bar mitzvah for an entire year and hoping everything would go right and it did except the food. That was served by dr laffa. My expectations were not met at all. The tables were empty - 10 people shared food that was served for 5. They served my guests samples size dishes but I was charged for a full dinner price. The guests told me there was no food. I was so embarrassed and Yoram the owner had no sympathy. I would not recommend to spend your money.
Do not order from Dr Laffa restaurants catering , is why expensive and you not get the right food.
Dissapointing compared to Champagne Drive . Dry Falafel , too busy and not ready
I went there to pick up order cashier behave was very rude he was aggressive and even he do t know how to speak even he is living in canada i dont know why people go there for Eating i recommend you please go anywhere else due to non sense people
Id give more stars if allowed. Simply amazing.
Such a waste of money. Horrible taste. Its not so clean. They are using eggplant very much so they do not have to use other toppings. So cheap, no taste, still staff have their own ugly attitude. Not recommended at all.
tasty Its just a shame they dont have veal shawarma fleshy And not just chicken breast
According to other reviews Dr. Laffa was supposed to have the best falafel in Toronto so I ordered through Uber Eats to add to my mezze table. I was so disappointed. The flavour was good but they were so over fried they were completely dried out.
Bland food and lacking customer service (waiting to be served while employee takes personal call at front desk)
The owners are so wonderful food is
STAY AWAY!!! DO NOT GO!!! We were harassed outside the restaurant. A man approached us and threatened to poison my girlfriends dog. He was following us for a minute and after we told him off, he went back inside. Dr. Laffa is a hangout for for weirdos and they encourage this behaviour. DO NOT WALK YOUR DOG by Dr. Laffa. Disgusted.
Nice restaurant. We had the shukshuka and we expected to be as good as what we had a month ago in Ashkelon, Israel. Not even close. Spice were missing and the egg was slightly too cooked. The cook however was very nice
Very tasty.
For F sake, I have no idea how this place got 4 stars. I have eaten shawarma all over Canada, Dr Kaffa is the WORST! it is either Canadian does not have sense of good food or the comments are fake. I had diarrhea and vomiting after eating here. Food came with pieces of aluminum foil, Too much gravy. Wrap not fully done. Fries with hair on it. Falafel balls tastes like they were cooked with last week oil. The manager there does not even smile, I had to ask for my fries and balls as he forgot to deliver but charge. Place is so hot and chairs are broken. F M, i don t understand 4 stars. This place worth at least -5 Stars if possible.
Nice and friendly service
no flavor not fresh anymore just like old days.
Unfriendly staff. Seemed like he would pick and choose which customers to be nice to. Initially saw this place on a tv show. Food was nothing like what the tv show had. Found out they have since changed ownership. Food
Very poor place
Wost shawarma place ever. I wish I could give it 0 star. Chicken shawarma tasted gross, bread was cold and very hard. Threw it away. Waste of over-priced $20 for a wrap.
Ive been here 6 times, so this review isnt based on one experience. First, the food is good, but its inconsistent. Today I came, waiting 25mins to order because they were so slammed with UBER orders. I finally got to order and they rushed my food. The laffa is 3/4 the size when theyre busy then if they have time to make it slow. They cut it in half if theyre not busy, if they are, like today, they throw it in tin foil with half the fillings as normal. Its good food but DO NOT go here when they are busy, if you walk in and see them sweating, food all over the place, big line, come back another time. they do not operate well when busy. Its a totally different experience and food quality.
The falafel pita was good but the food prices are high compared to restaurants serving similar food, about $18+ for most entrees. Restaurant has limited seating and older furnishings. Free street parking is available on nearby residential side roads. Very busy traffic area (Bathurst Street). Lunch food service was very quick.
The laffa when made fresh are some of the best in the city. The falafels are always freshly fried. The fried egg plant is delicious.
I was treated with the worst customer service, the place is dirty and no sanitization. No gloves being used to prepare food. None of them had food safety handling skills. There is a guy I ve never seen before. He has a very rude service. No customer service at all.
Very bad experience. Bad customer service. No gloves. Not good attitude at all
Not safe to eat.
Unpleasant experience
Good portion size
My go-to place for shwarma when Im visiting family in Toronto. For the most part, my shwarma is always tasty and I add eggplant, coleslaw, carrots, pickles and hummus. Only once has my order been wrong and the tin foil was wrapped within the food, causing me to have to pick the tin foil out myself. Service can be slow at times. Also, my boyfriend has a severe peanut allergy and the staff wouldnt tell us what oil they use to cook the French fries. Every restaurant we eat at, staff always tells us what oil is used. Its a shame as I loved eating their fries prior to me dating my boyfriend.
Quick bite place
Excellent food.
He is not a doctor at all The worst place we tried ever Both of them the shawarma and falafel was no taste and we felt sick 2 days after Don t try
Humongous wrap with lots of meat and all the toppings. Tasted fresh. We could only order one wrap for two because it is so big.
We came here because there were good reviews but they were totally wrong. First I came and waited for 45 minutes and when I asked if its done and they didnt even start. We then just left , because seems like the owner of this place only care about Uber eats
4 years ago 5 stars . Today zero. Bring back the love and attention to the roll. Hoping next time will be better!
The Dr is sick and off his game. Please return to the basics that got you here. Make good shawarma .roll it properly!!!and dont forget the special ingredient. Love Hope to see the improvement next time.
Love their shawarma laffa. It was amazing.
Excellent food and service.
not recommended at all
Everything is so bad...
Shawarma is huge and expensive but lacks flavour. Too much eggplants, carrots and tahini. Its not salty, not sour - Its just plain. In two words - lots of food, no taste. Even pickles dont make it better. Their hot sauce isnt hot at all, even if you ask for extra spicy - wont feel it. And in the end - what do eggplants and carrots do in a shawarma????
Excellent. Delicious. Must eat falafel.
I go whenever I get the chance
Delicious shawarma! Fresh baked laffa bread!
went for lunch 2 weeks ago with a friend. the place is freezing cold and no music on or anything. the guys barely look up to take your order. food was completely tasteless. the shwarma and fillings had zero taste. tried adding more tahina and it helped a bit. the harira soup, usually my favourite also had no flavour and was watery.
Super busy, no limits on the number of people waiting inside, guy by the cash said he didnt work there, and the order was not ready at pickup time. The young lady working there was lovely but rushed off her feet and obviously stressed. The falafel was ok.
It wasnt as good as I thought it was going to be
Good
Seeing our order getting ready while bread is being made fresh, right in front of you, is part of the experience. The food is very tasty and the staff are great. Worth a repeat.
Very nice experience
Excellent good food enjoy. I recommend
Great food! Spicey Harif!
Ordered the shwarma in baguette, and awas amazong. Only regret not getting a Laffa as you seem to get move bang for your buck at the same price.
The laffas are deliciously huge!! You will not leave hungry if you come here
Noah is a real chossid. Ask for the schaffy special
Delicious food. Portion size is huge especially for the laffa sandwich. Hummus was amazing and so was the baba ganoush.
Food was blend and not fresh
Some days has great service some days less great
Simply the BEST The Flavors The Freshness The Amount of each Serving is Great . My only ever complaint is that there is always a line up, and if your at the end of the Cue then your Tastebuds are Salivating in Suspense of an Incredible Meal . Always Super Friendly Love this place
Freeeeeesh!!!! Amazing falafel wraps!
Shawarma is pricey and huge. One is enough to fill 2 hungry stomachs. Tasty bread, a lot of unique veggie selections and meat is tasty. I loved it!
Excellent service and the food is really fresh and delicious! Good people and good food. Great healthy options!
Best shawarma in town. Taste like in Israel. French fries though not the best here, but reminds me of Israeli type
Awesome place, a must visit when youre in Toronto, best laffa you have ever tasted. Even if you dont like laffa in general I still recommend you try his schwarma laffa. Not expensive place. Very quick service
ITS THE BEST FOOD AND SERVICE EVER
Not your typical Shawarma joint. The laffa shawarma was kind of bland. realized after we left that the Shawarma wasnt warmed up on a grill - had to bite into a cold, hard shawarma (not fun at all). Portion sizes are great - one is enough for 2 people! Interior of the restaurant could use a tweak, pretty messy and rough in here as others have said as well.
first time...the food was good and the the service was fast. will go back for sure.
Amazing taste
Nice place quick service
Too much expensive unbelievable prices for all types of foods
Great laffa. A large one. Israeli vibes.
Im a certified laffa noob and had to try it for myself. The laffa itself is the dough of the show. This laffa is chewy, salty and super tasty. My friend actually ordered just the laffa bread. I had a bigger appetite and ordered the lamb and beef kabob laffa with everything on it. The kabob was nice, tasty but would be great with a bit more seasoning. Surprisingly I loved all the addons more than I did the kabob. The carrots were garlicy, well seasoned, and soft. The eggplant was also a fantastic addition. The addons are so good that I would order a veggie laffa if they had it (they do). Eat this on a plate with a knife and fork. Its impossible to consume this laffa and not have your hands all oily. Id definitely come back for more!
Mmmmm tasty
really great! no complaints
the best shawarma ever!!!!
the best best best food ever. recommended to everyone!!
Delicious homemade Laffa bread pulled fresh from the oven with middle eastern toppings
One of our favourite places to go for take out meat meal
What can I say? Ive been eating laffa from Dr. Laffa for over 10 years now going back to their location on Magnetic Dr and its still the best in town. Huge portions, quality ingredients and friendly employees keep me coming back for more.
Thanks the best food
The shawarma is always good, however the place looked disorganized and messy. The cleanliness and the hygiene of the workers is an issue of concern.
Delicious,good friendly service!
Food is great. Specially homemade bread fantastic. Just little more friendly sevice.
I honestly love to eat there. Clean & Yummy
Interestingly too mushy somehow but flavours were good
Not good place to go.
Its the best. So yummy
Good food!
Touching there mask and money and then touching food with out changing gloves or washing hands. We did not try the food
Food is delicious! The customer service needs some attention and you should either order ahead of time or be prepared to wait
I heard a lot about the place Unfortunately the laffa does not work Either the bread is too small or the filling is too much
Food is excellent however this place gets slammed and they dont have the staff available to handle the demand at times. Highly recommend getting the Laffa bread (instead of a pita) for your next Chicken Schwarma! You wont regret it!
Excellent size and quality of food. This is the go-to in the area for your shawarma cravings. Egg plant, peppers, even french fries as toppings. Everything is made to quality and hot. So good you can try to inhale the whole thing but really you shouldnt as one order can feed 2.
Great food and great service will tell my friends about you
Eatery for Kosher food. Convenient location with outside seating.
Im sure I would of enjoyed the chicken shawarma pita more if it was heated up. Instead it was cold
Friendly staff, quick service and the most delicious menu.
Good customer service and also provides discount to Baycrest staff
Most delicious shavarma
Huge portion for low prices and top quality food
Food was just okay, very expensive.
