900 York Mills Rd, North York, ON M3B 3H2, Canada
Refined Persian eatery inside the Westin Prince Hotel, serving a variety of kebabs & stews.
If you want to try the best Torsh kabobs in Toronto, try them here! We love their Torsh kabob. It’s amazingly marinated and so delicious and tender. The price is fair too.
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. First, the food took forever to arrive, well over an hour, even though the place wasn’t that busy. When it finally did come, the chicken kebabs were completely undercooked—still raw in the middle! It’s unacceptable to serve food in this condition. I was honestly worried about getting sick. The rest of the meal was bland, and not worth the wait. Definitely won’t be coming back and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Terrible service and even worse food.,
We recently held our daughter’s engagement party at Gilaneh Restaurant, and I can’t express how thrilled we are with the experience! From the moment we arrived, Ms. Tara, the manager, ensured everything ran smoothly. The timing and management were impeccable, and the table arrangements were both well-organized and beautifully set. The food was absolutely outstanding! We enjoyed an array of dishes, including Kebab Torsh, Joojeh Kabab, Kabab Koobideh, Shevid Polo & Mahicheh, and Kashk Bademjan. Each dish was prepared to perfection and truly showcased the rich flavors of Persian cuisine. A special shoutout to the bartenders for their kind and polite service to our guests—they made everyone feel welcome and catered to throughout the evening. Thank you, Gilaneh Restaurant, for making our celebration unforgettable! We highly recommend this venue for any special occasion.
Beautiful ambiance, nice work on the design. Appetizers were great. Fresh bread was nice. Torsh kabab disappointed me. Kobodeh was fine.low quality baklava.
I recently dined at Gilaneh and had an exceptional experience. The quality of the food was outstanding, with each dish expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was equally impressive, offering a relaxed and inviting ambiance that made the meal even more enjoyable. The decor was tasteful and stylish, creating a pleasant and visually appealing environment. Additionally, the staff were friendly and polite, providing excellent service that made us feel truly welcome. Overall, Gilaneh is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for great food and a delightful dining experience.
The building is rather old and the restaurant is located on the second floor with no elevators or escalators; so no accessibility options are provided to seniors or disabled. The restaurant is nicely decorated with traditional ornaments and decorations. The service is rather slow, especially if you come in as a group. The food is just okay; kebabs are not flavorful, but cooked well. Lamb shank, too.
The food was absolutely amazing! The lamb was made to perfection! The service was not bad given the time, events going on and the overall business of having a hotel right next door. Only issue is that the hostess understood no english which confused me because the restaurant is beside a hotel in Canada? The environment is absolutely fabulous and filled with beautiful symbolism and energy signatures. Will go again and sure to see changes, many thanks!
Food was great and tasty. Host (Elham) was friendly and helpful. Decoration inside the restaurant is unique, reminds me of Persepolis. They deserve better rating than what they have on google.
i did nit like the food and the slow service. The atmosphere was nice though Food
Very good . Their rice can be better :) but the food was good overall
The staff and manager at Gilaneh Restaurant in Toronto are very rude. They strictly enforce a policy requiring every individual at the table to order a dish, regardless of the situation (we were a group of over 30 people). Additionally, the food was mediocre, the rice was of very poor quality, and the restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. Honestly, I don t recommend this place you ll regret it. There are plenty of much better options available.
Excellent food
Giving this place another try after years, but I noticed a decline in quality. I used to love the torsh kebab here, but this time the beef wasn t up to par it had a noticeable smell despite being marinated. Still, their fresh bread remains a favorite!
Our family of 8 decided to have Sunday lunch at Gilaneh on December 8th after hearing good things about it. Overall, Gilaneh has great potential. The service is already wonderful, but the food and facilities need attention. With some improvements, this restaurant could become much better. Here are some details: One of the best parts of our visit was the excellent service. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. The lady who helped with the coat check and seating was friendly and professional. Our server was very attentive, took our orders carefully, checked on us often, and served the food with a smile. Her positive attitude added to our experience. The restaurant is in a beautiful location, and its unique structure makes it stand out. The homemade bread was also very good, and I enjoyed the Barg kebab. However, there were some disappointing parts. The washrooms were very cold, and only cold water was available, which was uncomfortable in December. We also noticed dust on the wine bar and stairs, which didn t feel right for a restaurant. The food, apart from the bread and Barg kebab, didn t meet our expectations. The rice had a bad smell, so my wife and I couldn t eat it. The Koobideh kebab was too spicy and dry. The kitchen needs to work on improving food quality.
A variety of dishes with a great taste that is unique Parking: It has a large parking lot thats is free Food : 5/5 |
As always food was great. Love the atmosphere; great staff. It was noisy that not sure if it can be fixed.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent service. The food was fresh, tasty and full of flavour. Overall a very positive experience. Food
Update: my last review is from 3 years ago and that was the last time I was at Gilaneh but going back this year I would change my rating to 2 for few things. 1. There was only one server for many tables and you couldnt find her if you needed something. She only brought our food, disappeared and came back again for bill she was so busy. 2. My mom found a piece of glass in her salad!! It was horrible and scared her so much im so glad she didn t swallow it but worse than that was the staff reaction. They just apologized and the only thing they did was taking the salad off the bill. There was no manager on site or anyone to talk to about this issue as this is very concerning. Very disappointed in the service and how they reacted to the situation. The food was very delicious but the rice portion was too much for me. Love the decoration and the service was great, definitely my go to persian restaurant.
We had an invitation with a reservation and they unprofessionally cancelled that for a family friend party with more people. It was very irrespecutful attitude.
There is no live performance. Just music being played back to you. Service is good. Food is mediocre.
Great food , great service from saeed We had an awesome night Thank you again to out waiter saeed Food : 5/5
This restaurant will no longer be my choice because of the bad quality of food. I went there with my friend for lunch three weeks ago. I ordered a stew with Tahdeeg. The Tahdeeg was from the previous day. It was very tight and was so difficult to bite it. They do not care about the customer who heated the Tahdeeg the day before. It was not edible at all. It was awful.
We hosted our school reunion last weekend in the banquet room of Gilaneh, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of appetizers and main dishes that satisfied everyones tastes. The service was top-notch servers were fast, courteous, and attentive throughout the night. The banquet room itself was perfect for our event, complete with a stage that accommodated both our live music and DJ, adding a lively touch to the atmosphere. All of our classmates were thoroughly pleased, and it s a venue we would definitely recommend for any special gathering!
We had a private party recently, and not only was the food delicious, but the whole experience was amazing. Tara was awesome and Saied and the rest of the servers were courteous and attentive. We were happy with the DJ service they offered. I recommend it for a special events with Persian Theme & food! Two minor criticism: 1.Washrooms are old and not to the standard of the restaurant and need more attention...2. I wish the restaurant had an elevator that I could bring my disabled dad!
While the atmosphere of the restaurant was enjoyable, I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The rice, in particular, was overly oily, which detracted from the overall dining experience. I would suggest that the kitchen staff pay closer attention to the preparation and presentation of their dishes to ensure a more satisfying meal for future customers. Our Server was excellent.
Came by yesterday on Tuesday Oct 29 for lunch. Both food and our server Hanieh were great! She was very accommodating, patient and kind with taking our orders. All of our food came out perfect as ordered. The servers energy was very positive and friendly. I would definitely return for her hospitality services and delicious food again.
The quality of the rice was not good at all
Ms. Elnaz Khanum welcomed our group beautifully with her beauty and professional service. 1 We hope to benefit from their excellent hospitality again soon. 1 thank you
Elnaz Jun was very well-mannered and very regular and orderly, she did all her responsibilities.
Very cheap and unprofessional management. I already booked a table for 30 guests on November 7, and although they approved everything because of another customer getting the whole restaurant hall, they canceled my booking. I m sorry for their behaviour and their customer service.
We were invited to a Christmas party at this restaurant with a group of 30 people. A week after making the reservation, the restaurant management, in a completely unprofessional manner, canceled our reservation and gave it to a party with a larger number of guests. NO RECOMMEND AT ALL
Very delicious and tasty food, very good service. The best Persian restaurant
Nice place, clean , quiet, good food, thank you so much for everything, specially thanks for dear elham , great service
Perfect
They should improve their customer service. It is very disappointing!
Vegetarian options: Lots of tasty vegetarian options and the fresh bread is always great Food
Our server was Elham and she was really kind. Food was also amazing.
I can t say anything no words to describe how amazing is this place the food is wow and delicious the stuff are amazing friendly alham was such an awesome lady thank you for the service the place is more than wow highly recommend
Fresh food and helpful staff
We reserved a table for 20 people in the Tachara Hall to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and coordinated the event with Ms. Tara, who was incredibly helpful and attentive to every detail. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a beautifully set table, complete with a variety of cold appetizers, followed by hot appetizers once all of our guests had arrived. For the main course, we enjoyed a selection of dishes including Koobideh kebab, chicken breast and leg kebab, Torsh kebab, and Shandiz kebab. Every dish was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious, with generous portion sizes. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout the evening, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience. The live singer on Friday and Saturday nights added a special touch with a wonderful voice that enhanced the atmosphere. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion
We recently celebrated our anniversary at Gilaneh Restaurant, and it was an amazing experience! The staff were polite, well-organized, and very professional. The service was great, and everything was clean and well-prepared. The food was delicious, and each dish was presented beautifully. They also had a great DJ and singer, which created a lively and joyful atmosphere. We couldn t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special occasion. Highly recommended!
Poor quality in foods and appetizers, poor service level, lateness in delivery
Gilaneh Restaurant made our daughter s engagement party an absolutely unforgettable experience! From the start, Ms. Tara, the manager, made sure every detail was handled flawlessly. The event flowed seamlessly, thanks to her expert timing and impeccable organization. The table setup was elegant and perfectly arranged. A big thanks to the bartenders who were not only polite but made our guests feel so welcome with their attentive service. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire serving staff for their kind, professional, and attentive service they truly made our guests feel comfortable and cared for throughout the evening. Special thanks go to the entire team who worked behind the scenes to make the event such a success. From the chefs to the waitstaff, everyone contributed to the magic of the night. If you re planning a special occasion, we highly recommend Gilaneh Restaurant. They went above and beyond to make our celebration memorable!
I have a good experience in this place. Saeed help us to choose a good meals , he s polite and friendly
We had a great experience at Gilaneh. We use their venue to host our engagement party and it was a blast. They were very helpful in planning the night and also the service on day was great and food was delicious as always. Vegetarian options: They actually incorporated a few vegetarian options in our meals. Very delicious.
The variety of Iranian dishes in the menu was fabulous . It had various cuisine with different tastes as well as great quality with fresh ingredients . Also , the staff were so attentive , with the laid back vibe which made it cozy & comfortable as well .
so expensive bad quality of food
I ordered kebab Torsh and to be honest I did not like it, my husband ordered Baghalo polo with mahicheh and it smells and tastes garlic, and my daughter s stew ghorme Saberi and it was good.
We went in for launch yesterday.this was´t our first time.as picky persians my brother and i pay attention to all the details when dining somewhere.the food quality and prep was excellent .service was great ,they kept checking if we needed something ...it was busy with many families and kids .food came really fast considering persian food takes time.our app came quickly as well...
I ordered the barg dish and the server asked me if I wanted lamb or veal, I asked for lamb but it wasnt lamb, the rice wasnt Persian and they were using the lowest quality of rice. The atmosphere is good, but I wish they had a good chef to make real Persian cuisine. This is not Persian food.
We came here for the first time and by looking at how nice the place is we thought we ll have good quality food as well but sadly this wasn t the case and we got very disappointed. The food was so low quality, the rice was not even a real Persian rice. I got soltani kabab and all I can say is that this was the first and last time we will be visiting.
Parking: No problem with parking. It is free. But the only issue is the servant. I tipped $10 but she was not happy and she did not even answer my goodbye which is very rude to me. Food
The food came too late. The music was too loud. The taste of rise was not good.
I can not speak highly enough about the unique fantastic old fashion Iranian decoration reminding us of Persepolis . The food was absolutely amazing . Each time we travel to Toronto we can not resist temptation going to this Restaurant. The staff are super nice and polite with the best manner. The bread is fresh and being made the same time in front of you. Will go there again and again. Many thanks.
We had the best lunch here, we are sultans and it was very hearty. Mrs. Elhams treatment was very friendly even though we came late at night
This was my first time here, and the food and service were perfect. Our waitress, Elham, was very nice and made excellent recommendations. I will definitely return to this restaurant in the future
Absolutely amazing food I got solati tonight And shout out for their amazing customer service thanks elham Food : 5/5
It was The worst service that I ever had by someone named Tara. She was too rude to everyone. she serves and talks disrespectfully. She deserves to get fired because she cannot communicate with people and even with her colleagues. For anyone who is reading this review, Go there if you want to be disrespected.
Great experience at this great restaurant, where the food, the service and the atmosphere are nothing other than beyond anyones expectation. Go and enjoy the tasty food at a reasonable price. Vegetarian options: Yes Kid-friendliness: Kids will enjoy this place Wheelchair accessibility: No
I recently dined in with my friends , and the wait time for the food was 30 mins, the kebab was dry and had simply no taste, a huge disappointment for the price being that high. When the bill came the waiter i recall her name being ilnaz (could be wrong) gave weird looks to us when we tried to enter custom tips and then took the machine away to tell us we had to tip and we didn t have a choice even though we were just three ppl so it wasn t a gratuity bill, weird behaviour happening when tipping isn t mandatory. As a waiter she never checked in once after our food came so I was so shocked as to her demanding a minimum of 15 percent tip which was around 5-9 dollars per person depending on what we ordered. Will not be returning ever again. Also we made the mistake of not asking if it s halal, read a review a few mins ago that mentioned that the halal certificate is expired if anyone is still willing to go just a heads up to ask.
I had a fantastic experience at Gilaneh! The food was incredible, with each dish bursting with flavor. Elhams service was outstanding she was attentive and provided great recommendations. Highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking delicious cuisine and excellent service!
Perfect Thanks many Haniejan Food : 5/5 |
We went there towards the end of their shift, and despite being tired, Elnaz greeted us with a big smile and gave us excellent service. Her positive attitude and great hospitality really stood out. We ll definitely return
Don t recommend this restaurant at all. Food is mediocre at best. Service is awful. We took a beautiful custom cake to celebrate and the staff there didn t even bring the cake out and proceeded to butcher the cake into messy pieces that looked like someone had thrown up into a plate-zero common sense!
Nice food
I had lamb shank meal in this restaurant It was quite pricey and the portion was quite not enough but the quality was great I also had garlic pickles which i highly recommend The restaurant was located in a nice neighborhood and it had amazing view and atmosphere!
Undoubtedly, it was the worst quality of the food I ate, very expensive and poor quality, the name Gilane is not suitable for this restaurant, Gilan restaurants serve the best food, I am really sorry for the money we wasted and the pleasure we did not get.
I hada a great night, food was amazing. Saeid was serving us, he was very kind , careing and smiling when ever we called him. Wheelchair accessibility: Need elevator
Honestly the best KABAB TORSH in Toronto. Amazing food great quality and the best restaurant and lovely host. Thank you Gilaneh
Took a family of four here and everyone loved the food. Service was great as well!
Delicious food, great atmopshere.
There is good choice for vegetarians. Food is delicious and the quantity is adequate.
Delicious family dinner. We were served by Elham, she made excellent suggestions for us and was very patient with us as we are not Persian and needed guidance.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gilaneh in Toronto, and I was thoroughly impressed. The food was amazing, offering a delightful array of flavors that truly stood out. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant was also great, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere that complemented the delicious meal. Highly recommended!
Every dish was a delight 10/10! We tried all the kabobs: barg, joojeh, koobideh, and my personal favorite, shandiz kabob. Our group of 10 was accommodated late at night as their last customers, and the customer service was exceptional. The appetizers were equally impressive, including baghali ghatogh, mirza ghasemi, mast-o khiar, and the best grilled eggplant Ive ever had.
The restaurant was very warm; it seemed like there was no air conditioning. Two small fans were working, but it wasn t enough. The food was okay, but the plates were small and difficult to eat from. A 355-milliliter can of Coke was over $4, which is unbelievable. A case of 24 cans of Coke costs $12.50. There was nothing special about the place.
How can you tell a Persian restaurant gets busy in , when their service gets awful
nice setup, good customer service, great atmosphere.
The food was delicious, great service and welcoming staff.
Do not waste your money! Super expensive, bad quality, Cold and damaged food , impolite servers, terrible service! You won t enjoy you meal . they empty your pocket
- Delayed in preparing - Attitude towards serving - Cold Rice Instead of a full koobide (minced kebab), they gave us two half pieces! Even if you dont want rice in your food, youre charged for it! Its the highest price ever for Persian food while you dont get the quality and respect! One of us who had Koobideh couldnt go to work the next day because of a stomach pain
Specially with saeed
Special thanks by Saeed.
very good restaurant i recommend it
Visited here on my recent visit to Toronto. Food was the best ever Irani food I ve tried. Hania served us and she was just amazing from start to finish. She made us feel welcomed and asked often if we needed anything.
I went to this restaurant for the first time, and while the place had a nice vibe and plenty of parking, I won t be going back or recommending it. The portions were small, and the quality of the food just didn t match the price. Overall, it wasn t a good experience. The food took forever to arrive, the kebab was undercooked, and the rice was cold. When I pointed this out, the staff didnt respond appropriately or respectfully.
Gilaneh Restaurant is a gem! From the cozy ambiance to the attentive service, everything was spot-on. The food was delicious, with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors. Dessert was a sweet finish to an excellent meal. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience!
One of the best.
Hospitality was perfect, professional staffs, nice atmosphere, highly recommended
Delicious Food, Kind and friendly behavior of the staff, The food came on time ( no delay) . To sum up everything was great. Do not hesitate just try Gilaneh!
Good food, excellent decoration, easy do parking
All the food is too expensive they overcharged customer. with this money you spend here you can spend better place
Ive been to this location many times, but this time stood out because of the exceptional service. Our waiter, Elham, was incredibly nice and served us with a warm smile. Good service like hers makes a big difference!
I love it and my Famliy was full in stock up in stomach Vegetarian options: I love food Dietary restrictions: Its homemade Famliy made restaurant Parking: Parking is hardship on the parking in front
Loved it Vegetarian options: Loved it Parking: It was ok
Beautiful place Good quality of foods Good staff and service Food : 5/5
Ive been going pretty regularly however lately its been a hit or miss. The rice was horrible last time we went not like the traditional persian rice. Depending who is working the service is also a hit or miss.
The corridor and stairs place smell bad. I dont know why. The toilet was so dirty. It should not be like this when you go to a restaurant with this price level. The rice was not Iranian and did not smell Iranian rice. I didnt like it. I ordered Koobideh Kebab and the taste was not my favorite. It was more like Kebab Digii rather than Koobideh. The taste of onion was very bold and it was dry. The way they cook Mirzaghasemi is not my favorite. There was almost no tomato and egg in it. It was mostly eggplant with garlic. We wanted to order black tea for dessert and the only available option was steeped cardamom tea. Regular black tea was not available (even a tea bag). We saw so many herbal tea bags on the shelf except black tea. I think many people may not like the taste of cardamom and prefer the regular tea only.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gilaneh Restaurant , and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The menu offers a delightful array of traditional Persian dishes, each bursting with flavor and prepared with the utmost care. We started with the Kashk-e Bademjan, an eggplant dip that was rich and savory, followed by the perfectly grilled Kebabs that were tender and flavorful. The saffron rice was fragrant and cooked to perfection, complementing the dishes wonderfully. A standout aspect of our visit was the impeccable service provided by our server, Hanieh. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the cuisine. Hanieh our server took the time to explain the dishes and make excellent recommendations, ensuring we had an unforgettable dining experience. Overall, Gilaneh offers an authentic taste of Persian cuisine with top-notch service. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal in a beautiful setting. Shila.
Great looking place, average food, really high price. Interior design is really pleasant and beautiful, but food is average in best case scenario and feels overpriced.
We will definitely be returning to the restaurant, thanks in large part to the wonderful service provided by Haniyeh. We encourage others to visit and experience the same level of hospitality.
Very slow service. Loved the food!! Loved the ambience! Food : 5/5
We recently invited 20 of our friends to lunch, and the experience was outstanding. Manager Tara and her team did a fantastic job they were incredibly professional and respectful throughout our visit. Highly recommended!
We had a reservation at Gilaneh Restaurant last Saturday for a group of 19 people. Everything went exactly as planned, thanks to the excellent coordination with the Gilaneh team and their great manager, whom we spoke with a week in advance. The food was tasty, and the server provided friendly and attentive service. Overall, we were very pleased with the amazing experience and outstanding service. Thank you, Gilaneh team!
scammers they try to put others bill on mine never come here we had to call police
Terrible service was disorganized they don t understand basic instructions I literally made a reservation for 10 people for my friends birthday party and 10 other random people came and lied about being part of our group and our tables were not even connected they took 300 dollars from us and refused to give it back to us terrible experience won t be coming back again
We went to Gilaneh resturant last night to celebrate my friends birthday who was visiting us from Europ. There was an other reservation for group of yonge people, all teenagers who they were celebrating their friends birthday too.Group of yonge , polite and happy kids. They had a reservation for 10 people. During this time group of 6 walked in and sat close to their table. After a while when we almost finished we noticed an argument, group of ten wanted to pay their bill and the servers insisting them to pay extra to cover the other groups bill too. Aparantly the small group had left earlier with an excuse of smoking.these kids were trying politly to explain they dont know the other group. These were all happening in the middle of restaurant very loud and noisy which made an unconformable environment for us and other guests. We left with the worst customer service experience, and I think a restaurant like Gilaneh could have managed this small loss, instead of makibg a scene and lose customers forever.
Terrible they overcharged our credit cards and the price charged was different then the bill. They also made us pay for another table and ended up calling the police.
Koobideh and Barg were very delicious, and the servers were nice but quite slow. It took about 10 minutes before they brought the menu. Otherwise, it would have been a 5-star experience. Note for people who have trouble walking: there are some stairs to navigate before reaching the restaurant. Unless I missed another entrance. Parking: Saw 2 gates that led to parking lots so I just left.
Beautiful place picture worthy, and food grate and really good service
High quality, delicious and well made authentic Iranian food. Polite and attentive server.
I like the place a lot the enviroment is amazing and the food is amazing , apatizers are good and tasty , main courses are good as well , kebabs are tasty and fresh and its great place to take your guests to , service is amazing and polite but there is a reason I gave 3 for food which is not reflecting of the rest of the menu but unfrotunetly my salad shirazi was not fresh , I know the restaurant and the rest of the food is great but for quality dining there shouldnt be any unfresh salad served , I hope the staff acknowledges this quickly and resolve it fast.
I had lunch with my son and his partner at Gilaneh, ordered, Kashk Bademjan, Mast-Mossir, Vaziri and Soltani Kabab. The food and service were great!
The food tasted great and so fresh even the tomato still had the sticker on.
Where to start with this place...As soon as you walk through the doors it smells like a wet gym bag that has been sitting in a damp basement for years. As you make your journey up the stairs youll be treated with what I can only describe as the smell from male urinals that havent been cleaned in years. The bathrooms are pretty awful looking too. Now for the food, oh my, the food is always overcooked and dryer than the Sahara Desert, to the point not even the roasted tomato can rehydrate the food. As for the manager...She has watched one too many Gordon Ramsey cooking shows and loves to yell at employees, in front of customers, which ruins the entire Fine Dining experience. Finally, to wrap this up. They do not serve Halal meat. Ask to see their certificate. It is expired. I would stick with Queen of Persia. The food is better. The experience is better.
Always great food, and honestly cant beat the interior feel and decor, plus the nice 2nd floor view of the trees.
Worst service ever. I would not go back again. Food
Beautiful place, a good choice for celebrating special occasions, reasonable prices, delicious foods. Kabob and some other Iranian traditional foods available. Highly recommended Food
The bread, the mirzaghasemi and the kebab torsh were excellent. Expensive but worth it.
Our experience at this restaurant was an absolute disaster. We had planned a surprise birthday party for a friend, with eight of us attending, including a two-month-old baby. Suddenly, the electricity went out, plunging the restaurant into darkness and filling it with smoke. Despite assurances from the staff that there wasn t a fire, it was clear the situation was unsafe, especially for the baby, prompting our friends to leave. To make matters worse, the firefighters arrived and instructed everyone to evacuate. As we were leaving, the staff had the audacity to demand payment for the food we hadnt even finished. Needless to say, our birthday surprise was ruined, and we left feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated. we will never be returning.
The quality and quantity of the Kebab were disappointing, the portion of rice was small, the price was high. Unfortunately, the kebab was undercooked, resulting in tough, chewy meat that was still red inside. I can not recommend it..
Not well baked, very disappointed. Expensive Food
Great food, the server struggled with English but we managed to communicate. The ice cream with rose water and pistachio is amazing.
Chalukbob Kobid is very excellent, juicy kebab with salt, pepper and onion, the size of grilled chicken is delicious and tasty, and the food was prepared in a great size and acceptable time.
We had a great experience working with Gilaneh team for our engagement party. Food and service were absolutely amazing and their staff were very attentive and took care of our guests. Highly recommend. The only downside is that it is not wheelchair accessible.
The food quality is not as fair as the price, and the portion sizes are insufficient compared to other Iranian restaurants
My salad Ceasar didnt come with chicken.
Rude staff, irresponsible management, raw food served, as we got a package for Iranian new year, they said deserts are finished, and party is finished, go home???
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Gilaneh restaurant. I had invited my parents, who were new to Canada, to join our family for a meal, but it turned out to be a regretful decision. The trouble started when a server approached our table and loudly mentioned the tip amount I had given, implying that it was insufficient. Not only was I dissatisfied with the expensive food and sporadic service, such as servers bringing dishes separately and disrupting the flow of our meal, but the server also continued to pressure us for more tip money, causing embarrassment in front of my family and other diners. Despite not having Canadian dollars on hand, I felt compelled to give more money just to avoid further confrontation. Being treated in such a disrespectful manner by the staff at Gilaneh was truly upsetting.
I like the atmosphere more than food.
Having a birthday dinner for two friends with a group of 18 people at this place, and it was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly and patient, making the evening special for all of us. The food was delicious, and every dish was a hit. Highly recommend this place! It was an unforgettable night!
Excellent service, high quality and delicious food.
The food was excellent. No.one.
Lively place with excellent food. Kabab and bread are out of this world but service is extremely slow and we had to ask for water a few times. Also vegetarian options are disappointing.
We reserved a table for lunch a day after Persian New Year. Although, at the time of booking we were told they have plenty on space still but when we got there they sent us to the other dine-in area where was empty, no music, No One was there expect us. We didn t feel like we are in a resturant. Such a bad experience. Untrustworthy.
Honestly the torsh kebab, shandiz kebab, and barg kebab here are near perfect
we went for dinner and sat on a table! a while after we ordered, the shift manager asked us to change us to another small table where the location was not comfortable. The lady didnt mind us getting uncomfortable and disrespected. so we asked them to cancel our order and we are leaving, she again didn t mind asking why or saying sorry for inconvenience, she just replied ok sure although they knew the reason we were leaving was changing our table without asking nicely or giving us good reason!
Food is incredible, but the service is unorganized and often times rude.
Everything was perfect Hanieh an excellent waiter
Poor customer service without respecting their customers.
We had better experience in the past. The water glass was cracked, Baghali Polo was lumpy ( not tahdeeg), and the Mahicheh soup was salty. Lamb shank was nicely done and Mast - O- Khiar was yummy. The waitress was respectful. Food
Sunday lunch time, hospitality very friendly, nice decorative, spacious place. Very good service and food was divine. Lots of parking. Food
Last night, we celebrated my moms birthday at Gilane restaurant. We had a wonderful evening, and the food was delicious and fresh. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Thank you for making it a memorable night for us!
Hey, so I went to this restaurant with my friend to have dinner And guess what? The place was totally empty, and the waitresses were just standing around, chatting and stuff. We sat there for like twenty minutes, waiting for someone to come and serve us, but no one did. Finally, we just gave up and left. I thought maybe it was just a one-time thing, so I decided to give it another try. But nope, same thing happened again. Im never going back to that place, and Im definitely not recommending it to anyone. The service is absolutely terrible. But at least the restaurant itself is nice and the food is good.
The Gilaneh restaurant has an excellent staff, great traditional food, and a phenomenal ambiance. The saffron ice cream is delicious, and the Persian baklava is too.
The quality was lower than ever before. Torsh Kebab wasn t even cooked well! And the meat was hard to chew and red inside. The chicken breast kebab was ok. It s not recommended as a regular option. But in case you want to familiarize someone with Persian cuisine and culture it s not so bad.
Spectacular food. Quality, flavour and presentation second to none. Highly recommended.
Lovely place to relax at the end of a long day
It was a great place to eat a couple of years before, but not any more. Friendly staff but the quality of food is not good.
Torcheh kebab was really good
I was there, I ordered food with salad, when I got the salad was hair inside the salad, the waitress came with complete composure, she said do you want me to change the salad, even the quality of the food was not the same as before.
Todays dining experience left me utterly disappointed. Upon receiving the bill, I was shocked to find a 15% mandatory service fee imposed by the server. What baffled me further was that this fee was nowhere to be found on the bill. Its disheartening to see such a lack of transparency, depriving customers of the right to decide on gratuity. This coercive approach to tipping is both unethical and disrespectful, and I feel compelled to warn others about such deceptive practices. My advice: think twice before going to establishments that engage in such unfair tactics.
I ventured to Gilaneh on a bustling Saturday night sans reservation, presuming I could stroll in as I usually do. Accompanied by four guests, I found the establishment teeming with patrons. Initially dismayed by the news of being fully booked, I fretted over the impending embarrassment upon my guests arrival. However, the gracious and efficient staff, particularly the lady in charge, swiftly came to our aid. Within moments, they managed to find us a table, averting any potential discomfort. Once settled, my experience at Gilaneh resumed its usual charm, with delectable cuisine, impeccable service, and an inviting ambiance. Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly endorse Gilaneh to fellow diners seeking a delightful culinary outing.
I placed my order at 19:18 and it was delivered at 20:53. Cooking at home is way faster than odering food from Gilaneh. Updated review at 21:06 I called the restaurant, and as expected they put the blame on the uber driver in a rude manner. This has always been the case with Gilaneh, even when we dined in, they are LATE.
The service and atmosphere is great. It s a go-to for hanging out with friends over dinner and you can sit as long as you wish. Their fresh bread served with appetizers is five stars. Kebab dishes are mediocre, though. Kebabs are nothing you can t find in other good Iranian restaurants in the city. The worst part of the dish is the rice, tastes like low quality basmati. I dropped one star for the undercooked stinky rice. About the portion of each dish, it is enough for one person. Overall, I think it s overpriced if you only think of the food. I recommend this place for gatherings. I think the service and ambiance way overweighs the food quality.
We have booked couple of weeks prior to Iranian new year. Music was somehow good. But services were awful. Food served an hour later. At the new year time our table was full of stuff. Deserts were finished! Many lest and we were required to wait until they prepared tea!!! We regret spending our time there.
We reserve nowrouz party but it was so Worthless just one server for the whole party Our food was completely rare.
It was such a poor hosting, they pup the nouros party. Don t waste your money for this garbage restaurant.

The portion sizes are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied and already planning your next visit. The owners and staff are incredibly welcoming and go above and beyond to make your dining experience memorable. They are passionate about their food and culture, and it shines through in everything they do. If youre looking for an unforgettable Persian dining experience in Toronto, look no further than Gilaneh Restaurant. Its a true gem that deserves all the praise and more!
Authentic Persian food and atmosphere
I dont usually leave a lot of reviews, however, Gilaneh exceeded our expectations during our visit this week. We had booked a table in advance for the new year celebrations. My focus was on the quality of service and food, and the Gilanehs staff went above and beyond to serve excellent food with classy and courteous service. Considering that a large group of guests had to be catered to, Tara and the entire staff were fantastic in attending to us. The Torsh Kabab, Fillet, and the fish were excellent. The fillet was very juicy and cooked well without allowing to be dried out. We did not have the minced beef, it looked really good though. Thank you for such a wonderful evening.
The restaurant was not bad. The service was great and the food was good. All our orders were freshly prepared. We were there for lunch on a week day and were the only occupied table in the restaurant.
An absolute gem! The Torsh Kebab at Gilaneh Restaurant was a burst of flavors perfectly grilled and incredibly delicious. The restaurants authentic ambiance made the dining experience truly memorable. A must-visit for Persian cuisine enthusiasts!
Good food
I recently dined in this restaurant again after 8 years. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice.
The atmosphere is nice, and the food is decent. We ordered Sour(Torsh) Kebab and Soltani Kebab. While it may not be the best for Persian food enthusiasts, the restaurant boasts a charming decoration reminiscent of old rural areas in northern Iran. They also served hot bread which added to the overall experience. Additionally, they offer ample space for gatherings. The staff were friendly, although not fully trained. The food quality was good but could be improved. I might revisit here but more for their location.
We were six people today at Gilaneh . The food was amazing and the host was very caring and professional. We ordered Kabab Torsh , Barg , Kobideh and baghali polo. The taste and quality was very good. I do recommend this place.
I like the atmosphere . Kebab was great but the quality of the rice was poor. I expected much delicious and well done rice in Gilaneh as it has north theme and culture.
PROS: delicious food (especially the barbari bread), clean and lovely decor. CONS: restaurant is not accessible to people with physical mobilities, as the ONLY way in/out is by a long flight of stairs - and this was especially difficult for our elderly family member. It hurts me to give any business 1 star (especially since they would have otherwise earned 5 stars) but being accessible to ALL is very important (to me and my family) and at the minimum, your website should identify this flaw to potential patrons. Parking: Parking lot is very dark at night. Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible at all. Long stairs up to the restaurant and no elevator.
Update 2023: After Covid, their food quality decreased so much that I can say they have the worst food among persian restautants!
This is my third review ever. If you going for only a good food you won t be disappointed; however, I was expected a more welcoming, friendly and grateful staff especially that we are all Iranian! I was in a Canadian restaurant for breakfast the other day and while they were super busy waitresses were so lovely, welcoming and caring. For example they asked how are you today and in the end when I left tip they highly appreciated it and wished me a good day. Sadly I didn t see this in Gilaneh. I don t only go for food, the atmosphere is more important.
Food is the best by far. You should try their Kabob Barg and Kabob torsh

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so cozy and nice.
Mehri hostess she was amazing tonight also Radmehr was super professional perfect atmosphere for the family the music was amazing I do recommend this restaurant for any occasion specifically for a special gathering is the best in Toronto....enjoyed our night
An outstanding place for quality Persian food. A great venue for small to very large groups
We had a memorable night with our friends who came from Montreal, and it was the best pickled kebab Ive ever eaten, and our service was with Mr. Abi, who really left a stone unturned.
I go to many Iranian cousins, but I believe this is one of the best
The entrance to the restaurant was very strange, you have to climb the stairs and you will reach an environment where there is no one and then you will enter the restaurant. However, it had a nice and calm environment, all the staff were friendly and as an Iranian I can say that the food was very delicious. I ate Kebab Soltani and I was satisfied. Parking: There is free parking in the open space around the restaurant
This is the first time I have seen a restaurant asking for a deposit for reservation, that shows the low quality of their service and not confident enough to attract customers in case some one didnt show up. No wonder theres lot of low ratings . Plus, it wasnt for 10,20, or 30 people reservations. I was trying to reserve for 2 .. When I asked for the manager, she was replying that this is their policy and you can do whatever you want.. Come on ,theres tons of restaurants in GTA and have never seen any of them ask for a deposit...
