We celebrated a birthday here, and it was a perfect place. The food was good, and the ambiance as well. Our server, Emon, was very friendly and accommodating. Lots of great vegetarian and vegan options. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are good.

This restaurant is SUCH a hidden gem. Food is very reasonably priced and super tasty. You won t regret eating here, takeout or dine-in!! Parking: The mall has free parking :)

Last week, I went to il fornello for a birthday. The server Sam was fantastic right from the start, with her friendly personality. She recommended a lovely sav blanc which went very well with my salmon dish. She made sure all of us had everything that we needed. Thank you Sam, will definitely recommend my friends to come!

Had the spaghetti and meatballs. Come on folks. Is there no one can do an actual tasty meatball. These, I had, were bland, completely flavorless and the texture was terrible. I ve had other dishes here and it s a good restaurant. But someone needs to revamp this recipe!

I have been coming to BVM since it was an outdoor mall, in the early 1970 s. When Il Fornello opened here, in the much more recent enclosed mall; I was pleased, because I had been a repeat happy diner at your deep downtown location ( King Street ? ). I return to you periodically, here at BVM, when I am in the area. I am always satiated, with expectations met. :-) I like to sit on the corridor patio, so I can take in a bit of the shuk / sook vibe, of kinetic people and activities all around. Today, I was served lunch by your staffer, Emon. Wow, great person. Five stars in every way . with warmth, and an honesty, and earnestness, and crisp professionalism, and brand awareness and loyalty; which reveal excellent employee characteristics, and potential opportunity for company advancement. Everytime I ve gone the service is amazing! Regardless of my server, I m always taken care of! I have severe allergies and they are so accommodating. The food is always delicious, leaves you full but not bursting, and you can tell the employees enjoy their job, and they re kind and efficient with each other and the cooks! It s a must eat if you haven t been! Vegetarian options: There s a whole vegan menu, it s wonderful for everyone! Dietary restrictions: Vegan, gluten free and alterations varying on your allergies! Kid-friendliness: The servers love kids! They have crayons and stickers for your tiny tots! Wheelchair accessibility: They are happy to move tables and make allowances for wheelchair accessible individuals, and will always do they re best for elderly folk.

We had one hour for lunch and the food arrived quickly great presentation and amazing flavour. The hot oil was the best on the pizza perfect spice. Will defentily be back . Completely lack of respect of customers time. I showed up at 130pm for a table of 4. They assured me they had space, and they kept telling me 5 more minutes, for over half an hour. The staff had given the bill to an existing table that continued to loiter around for 30+ minutes, and the staff insisted to me that they couldnt do *anything* to encourage the other table to leave until *they* chose to leave. I guess they dont want my money.

The waiter was unfriendly, seemed stressed and nervous and I found a giant HAIR in my plate of pasta!

My wife and I are regular patrons of this restaurant at the Bayview Village location. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. The food is quite good and reasonably priced. It s a great place to go for a casual meal and meet friends in a welcoming environment. Wheelchair accessibility: Located in the ground floor of a shopping mall. Easy to get in and out on a wheelchair.

Just had a great dinner with friends. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service from Emon was first rate. Will definitely return and hopefully have Emon serve again.

Best mushroom risotto ever.

Our experience at Il Fornello restaurant in Bayview Village was terrible like a horror movie, absolutely unimaginable and bizarre. We were 3 adults and 2 teenagers. We came to this place on Sunday, September 15, 2024, soon after 4 pm, dressed up, and in anticipation of fine Italian dining and hospitality. The hostess seemed unsure about where she would seat a family of 5. She then joined 2 tables for us in the corner very close to the entrance, a high traffic area and the most inconvenient spot. We would really prefer a quieter place further inside, especially because one of us has recently had 3 heart surgeries. It was hard to imagine that this could be a problem when there were only 2 other guests at that time. For some reason didnt like this idea and tried to convince us that literally all tables were booked and were about to be taken in a few minutes. This didn t make any sense. There were no reserved signs on any tables (reservations are not assigned to specific tables anyway), no party was going on, no people were lining up to enter, and the typically busy dinner time was still a couple of hours away. Even an hour later the restaurant remained mostly empty, as can be seen on the photo taken at 5:26 pm on the same day. The hostess hinted that we were free to go if we didn t feel like sitting at the table prepared for us. This didn t sound right, so we asked to see the manager to find out what was going on, but we were told that the manager was unavailable and would not be available until next week. In the meantime we were unpleasantly surprised even more when our server handed us visibly dirty and sticky menus. He didn t mind if we moved to another table, but he called another server named Guillermo, to clarify the situation. Guillermo showed up extremely agitated for no apparent reason. He claimed to be the manager (another lie!) and started yelling at us. He screamed something like you are not welcome , loudly declared that we were banned from being served in this restaurant, and even threatened to call security, as if we had any desire to stay or come back to this place ever again. In fact, his unprovoked and exaggerated reaction made us feel very insecure. We walked away puzzled and traumatized because of such absurd and inexplicably hostile behavior of this restaurant s staff. P.s. Right after this incident we entered a Mediterranean restaurant Tabule located side by side just a few meters away where they gladly seated us around a large convenient table at our first request and served us delicious food in a very friendly atmosphere.

I like the food, but the service is horrendous. I stood at the front for how many minutes until a server decided to acknowledge my existence. They were at most 60% full. Also the portion size for the takeout lasagna is pretty small given it s $23. The sit down size is bigger.

Disappointing Delivery Experience I was quite disappointed with my recent experience with them. I placed an order for delivery, but unfortunately, the pizza arrived cold and the quality was not up to par. I have ordered from other restaurants in the past and have not experienced such a significant drop in quality. The pizza was cold and unappetizing. I believe that for the price I paid, the quality of the food should have been much better. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant for delivery.

New in the area moved last month. Already has visited few restaurants but Very Satisfied with IL Fornello for the great Service and tasty food. Had a lunch on Saturday . Good Vegetarian option , wish they can offer some Halal option too. Keep up the good work . Will come again

Went for the set meal while kids had pizza and the fetticcine alfredo. Wasnt very impressed with the pasta. Was still too al dente for our tastes and sauce felt like it wasnt sticking to the pasta. (Missing pasta water?) Tagliatelle salsiccia was quite oily and again felt that the sauce just wasnt sticking to the under done pasta. My cousin had the chicken parmigiana which looked a little on the burnt side. Must have kept it under the salamander for too long. Risotto tasted like Campbells cream of mushroom soup Service and atmosphere was to be expected from a stripmall location. Might be better at a stand alone location where they can hide hanging fly paper better from clients view

I will start off and say the food was absolutely amazing. We did the prix fixe menu and had some drinks for a friends birthday. Our server was terrible from the beginning and even called my friend confused at one point. We felt as if we were pestering him when asking about restrictions and it really dampened the celebration. The other servers/maybe even a manager were fantastic! They even noticed we had been there for sometime, close to 45 minutes with no bread and brought some out. It was clear that it was just this one employee who had some sort of issue. My friend has been to other locations and raved about the food and experience so I was excited that I had one so close to home. We were both left disappointed and to top it all off, when I had went to pay for the bill, he has put the numbers in correctly so I had asked if if tip /gratuity was included and he said no, I must have hit it accidently. I know I watched him type in the higher incorrect amount. No ownership whatsoever

Terrible service for our group of 7. Waiter ignored the table and we had to ask busboy to get the waiter. Received spaghetti pasta instead of linguini. Soggy pasta drowned in sauce. Thoroughly disappointed! Do not recommend the Bayview location!

The food and the atmosphere is pretty good, and the Prix Fixe in a good value. The Salmon is crispy outside and soft inside. And love the al dente orecchiette. Just the Tiramisu is a bit sweet for me. Our server Eugene is very nice and caring. Def recommend for Italian dining.

We came here wearing work clothes. The waitress did not seat us down - not even a lot of guests that time. We re waiting for the menu or anything. NOTHING- she is just walking and walking. Then there s two guests comes in, they immediately greet assist them give menu, give water. HAHAHA So take note, always comes here that you look like you have a bag of money. Thank you

Nice lunch menu. The beet and arugula salad was excellent. The pizza was good but unnecessarily large for one person for lunch. Neither I nor my guest could finish more than half. But if you are hungry that is probably a good thing.

Used to like this place, but had bad experience with the waitlist system. waitress said was full, so I asked if I can be on the waitlist. She treated me with attitude, I am assuming it s because I was dining alone? I was No 1 on the waitlist but never received any calls or messages. Said expected wait time is 45 min, I was around that area for an hour until I gave up and went home. Very frustrating experience. I went April 27th I m still on the waitlist now after a week.

Pizza was okay but Arancini was so meh. Wouldnt go back there at all. Service sucked. The waiter was not providing any service at all. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

Great except as the place was packed for lunch our table was too close to where the servers were either getting cutlery or droping cutlery (noisely) within 2 feet at the back of our chairs and close to the kitchen.

Decent food but bad service. For a mall that seems small they don t have good policies when it comes to elderly ppl using walkers and parents with strollers. Perhaps its a spacing issue as they want to maximize and cram tables in. Everyone has to park it in the front. We got their early and while we told the hostess we would have someone with a stroller, when the rest of our party arrived, he waiter wouldnt let us move forward into the restaurant proper with the stroller and tried to make us leave it in the front. I understand the need but seems to be communication issue then between hostess and wait staff as there was plenty of tables available closer to front so we wouldnt have to drag entire car seat into the far end of restaurant. Also saw others struggle to be allowed to sit with help of walker before someone took it away, again refusing them use of their aid to enter. While cumbersome, seems like it would be a fire hazard and safety issue

Food was wonderful, well prepared and served in a good timing. Seafood pasta and pasta with wild mushrooms and truffle sauce . The restaurant itself wasn t busy on that weekend afternoon. Overall clean, but 2 tables we tried were rather wobbly, which leaves a feeling of not being maintained properly; otherwise, very much recommend.

We tried to reserve a table for 6 about three hours before arriving and they said, We dont do reservations. We show up, tons of space and tables open, and the hostess snootily says, We cant accommodate such a large group. I cannot stress enough how many tables were open and could have been pushed together to seat us.

I was there on Thursday night (Jan 25th, 2024) and I had a great experience. Evgeni was my server for the night and did an awesome job! I ordered a 20oz Peroni along with the LINGUINI DI MARE dish and a double espresso after my meal. The seafood was very fresh! I also wanted to shoutout Emon who continued to check up on me throughout the night, always asking if everything was good and if I needed anything else. Finally a BIG shoutout goes out to the bartender Danielle for making my drinks promptly and freshly cracking ground black pepper on my main dish! Will definitely be back :)

Been visiting Bayview Village many years now, first time eating at IL FORNELLO. The host and server were very nice. We request if we can sit at certain area, the host rearrange the table just for us. And the server have a great smile on his face. Also we order three pasta everyone was happy. Will definitely go again!

Would I recommend? Good to try once or as occasional comfort food if you crave Italian food for a decent price. How s the service? Their service was average, nothing special. How s the food? The food is average, the carbonara we ordered was nice, but the Pomodoro and Penne Capri was less impressive. How s the ambiance? it s got a nice dim lighting and relaxing ambience, it s quite nice. What did we order - Tagliatelle Carbonara - Spaghetti Pomodoro - Penne Capri How to find it Use the South-West gate to enter, and it s going to be on your right hand side as you walk in. Right across GOA and Thai Express.

This is one of my top favorite places for authentic pizza in Toronto. Thin dough, crunchy border, high standard of ingredients, always fresh. I like very much Buffalina pizza and Prosciutto pizza. Funghi pizza is also outstanding. Not to forget the vegetarian pizzas , Melanzani and Carciofi, so perfect. Interestingly, I have never been there, I always ordered for delivery (Uber).

We came here for lunch, and the restaurant was at full capacity. Hostess greeted us and found a table within minutes. We ordered the Lunch Prix Fixe, and it came with a starter salad or soup and a main course. It was tomato soup, warm and tasty. Avocado Cashew Caesar Salad had more texture than normal Caesar salad. Definitely can taste the lemon juice in the salad. For the main, we ordered Pan Seared Salmon with no added salt. Chef was able to accommodate our request. A large portion of salmon was given and high quality side vegetables were cooked to perfection. You can taste the Pizza Margherita was freshly made. The pizza sauce was good and crust was thin but had nice texture to it. The Tagliatelle Salsiccia; pasta noodle was cooked al dante. Sauce was not overpowering and sufficient sausage meat was provided. For dessert, we had the Orange Polenta Cake and Chocolate Souffle Cake. Unfortunately, this was the low point of the meal. Desserts were nicely made but it did not end up as home runs. Chocolate Souffle Cake tasted better, but it was more like a chocolate lava cake without the melting chocolate. Orange Polenta Cake is unique as it is made from almond flour and it came with coconut whipped cream. The prix fixe menu is definitely great value for the quality and quantity of food you get. Vegetarian options: Lots of plant based food options. Dietary restrictions: Restaurant and chef was able to facilitate our dietary restriction of no added salt. Parking: Free parking on main level and underground.

Overall a fair experience. Our reservation was not found by the hostess but we were able to get a seat fairly quickly With everything being so expensive these days, the prix fixe menu isnt a bad choice. I enjoyed the appetizer the most out of everything I had. Arancini had a nice crisp and good flavor. Could have used a bit more stuffing. I think this was the better choice compared with the salad. Lasagne felt like it was a bit light on cheese and filling. The server did dump a bunch of parmesan on the top before I got a clear photo of the top. Lots of sauce. For some reason I found one side of the dish to be a lot hotter than the other. Sorry that the Tiramisu photo wasnt better. I was too eager to try it out but overall I was most disappointed in this dish. It was a good size but I found it to be very bland. In the end, it was a middle of the road experience. I feel like none of the dishes would draw me back but I didnt leave with regrets.

A common conversation of mine these days is about the feeling of dismay I have because it feels as though customer service has become obsolete. Our server today, Emon, at Il Fornello (Bayview Village) was a ray of hope. On a busy Friday night dinner service, he still kept a close eye on our table and got us what we needed before we even had to ask: refilled our water and our bread basket, gave us extra plates, provided extra napkins, and fresh cutlery. To Emon, thank you for making our dinner experience so enjoyable. Also love that the restaurant provides so many alternatives for vegan and gluten-free diets - especially for an Italian restaurant! The vegan sausage was great. The pasta dish I ordered was a little oily and needed some salt, but I put the vegan parm on it instead of table salt and it really lifted the flavour. Vegetarian options: Lots of options and substitutions available.

We were en route across the GTA and I wanted to try a place at Bayside Village, a lovely mall I knew in the 80s. We picked Il Fornello. It appeared to be rated 4.0 so maybe our expectations were tempered. We had the natural Cesare, the linguine de mare and the pappardelle salsiccia. Both pastas were very tasty and excellent value. The salad featured a house-made dressing and was pretty close to the original idea, and was also excellent value. Our server Emon paced the meal well, and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is upscale contemporary but you are still in a mall, but clustered together with other full service restaurants. If youre wondering, these are NOT part of a food court. They are separate restaurants facing the concourse rather than a street. Considering many urban restaurants feature Al fresco dining on busy city streets, Id say that facing this mall concourse is perfectly fine.

Very decent and good vibe , staff were friendly , food options are great, and many substitutions for dietary restrictions , pizza was tasty only comment would be crust of pizza can be a bit more crunchy ( my opinion ) for me was a bit soft. But taste wise, it was amazing. Honeslty, i took a piece home and put it on a toaster, and yummy it was, if you are hungry and looking for good for a good price in north york this is place to go ... I enjoyed the Orecchiette Funghi, and added chicken. The flavors were off the chart. Great service and beautiful atmosphere. I enjoyed this dinner with my bestie Sharan Dietary restrictions: My girlfriend is vegan, she had so many options to select from. Parking: Finding parking was quick and easy.

Exceptional service by the team!

The customer service is the worst in Bayview Village. We waited for almost 10 mins to get the menu on Monday around 4:30 when the restaurant is not busy at all. We have nothing to do there and my daughter lost patient then I took her to grab a Starbucks drinks that she always like. So the first thing we were told when we back was they don t allow outside drinks. All right, we ended up leaving the restaurant. I bet they don t care lose the customers with kids, that gives them less work to do later, like cleaning I guess?

Food was great although I think the portion size could be larger in regards to price. The service was tremendous. Special shout out to server Emon who honestly gave me one of the best serving experiences I have had at a restaurant. He was never intrusive and never left us waiting too long. He also brewed us some light coffee at the end of our meal on the house.

Tried lunch prix menu and it was good with a reasonable price of $23.5 (appetizer and main) + dessert $6.5 1) Avocado cashew caesar was decent 2) Penne alla norma - lovely with eggplant and tomato and veggies 3) Orange polenta cake was excellent Will come back for plant based menu! I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at this Italian restaurant! The ambiance was charming, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was simply exquisite. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavours, and the pasta was a true highlight. I cant wait to return and indulge in another delightful meal. A definite 5/5 stars!

Very nice place to go for fine dining meal and Italian cuisine. Food are delicious (nice risotto and pasta, deserts are also pretty) and services are nice. One recommended improvement is that might be better if each table could have a brighter lamp, or hanging light, or even a candle to make the atmosphere better in the evening, since it was a little too dark in the evening when sitting on some tables beside the wall. Will definitely come again in the future.

Food was great, there are many plant based options and taste great. The risotto is tremendous. Just be aware, this is a corporate location, so their menu is limited compared to the Ajax location, kids menu is different at both.

Terrible service.

I have been coming to this location with my friends since the Mario days. This new owner is so grumpy, and his staff except for Anthony and Evgeny are all about the tips. The worst waitress was the one we encountered with the glasses. When my friends and I walked in, she was behind the bar drinking and going back and forth between her drink and customers. I have attached picture of who she is, as she didn t give me her name. When we walked in, she said to the other waiter upon seeing my friend who is a Sikh, you take them . How can this fantastic jewel of Bayview Village go downhill so quickly. The other servers never come to check on you, but will come running with the bill to collect their tip. Also, the owner is always upset. You can spend $1000.00 here and he will not even come and say hello. This restaurant has a terrible atmosphere. On top of that, the food almost always is old, cold, and/or spoiled. Very tragic, as this was always one of the best places to eat in the GTA.

The food was fair.However,the service quality of the waitress was so bad.When I entered the restaurant at noon on 11sep,the waitress just shouted at me saying follow me and ignored my willingness of seat.When I was arranged with the seat near the door,I found that the spot light was so strong.Thus,I asked the waitress may I change another seat,she looked angry and led me to another seat without saying anythings.I was shocked with her attitude.Even when I was preparing to leave and saw her again,she turned a blind eye to me.Don t recommend this restaurant.

Cooking time too long. I come pick up orders. The waitress said give me one second. Then she gone for 5 mins. Come back told me the food need another 15 mins.

I got a food poisoning eating the lunch option on thanks giving weekend . Staff were nice though .

I have been dining at ilfornello s various locations, and never have I felt disrespected and actually paid $24. For a plain personal pizza no cheese no tomato. I asked for olive oil and chicken, always enjoyed it until yesterday when they charged me 3x the normal price and gave me a dry pizza, no olive oil and approx 2 oz of chicken. I just thew it away! They have definitely lost me as a customer!

Great Italian restaurant inside the mall. The pasta was delicious, and the cakes seemed like they were made fresh. I would highly suggest the Fettuccini Alfredo, and add chicken on top! I would recommend booking a reservation in advance, depending on what time you go, or be prepared to wait 30 minutes.

It s just getting worse. Unfortunately I ve had a few bad experiences in the past year, I really liked this place but the quality of the food and the service has declined significantly. From cross contamination to runny sauce, to no flavour at all. I had a lasagna this week and it was extremely disappointing, bland and too acidic. No coming back for sure, and is a pity because there are not many Italian restaurants in the area, maybe that s why they ve gone so careless. I think is time for a little competition.

Great delivery dinner this week from Il Fornello. Started with a Caesar salad, which was very fresh with a nice dressing and strips of crispy bacon to crumble on top. Then had linguini pollo e pesto, which my wife rated 10/10, and tagliatelle carbonara which I rate a 9/10. Both were excellent - great flavour and portion size. The tagliatelle had tons on meat and could easily have been called a Meat Lovers tagliatelle!! Would definitely recommend these dishes.

It had been about 25 years since I regularly frequented Il Fornello (on Yonge at St. Clair and on Eglinton east of Yonge). I am very pleased to report that the mussels in tomato broth and the Ceasar salad with anchovies were every bit as good as I remembered them to be. The service was very attentive, and the atmosphere at this location was appropriate. Dietary restrictions: Not gluten-free friendly.

The vegan caesar was quite good, though $17 for lettuce and dressing which takes 2 minutes to toss seems a bit much....or perhaps Im crazy The server was curt, inattentive and didnt deserve a tip....though he got one.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and relaxing, and Emon was hands down the most attentive, engaging and responsive server we ve ever had. Dietary restrictions: Wide variety of choices from traditional to vegan dishes.

Went for lunch , the soups are usually quite good and seasoned well. The pizza today was too soft and undercooked, also flat and no nice crust to it.

Went here for a weekday dinner and the place was almost full- shows it s popular. We tried the pri fix dinner (arancini, spag capri and tiramisu) and ala carte Pizza. Food was just ok- nothing outstanding; almost disappointing for a $100 meal. The best was the arancini out of everything I tried. Service was quick and responsive. Though I did mind somethings here and there (for example, the person at the door lying about not receiving a text from me to reschedule my table when I could clearly see it present in her tab through reflection, being assigned a table at the far end when others were available and more)and hence gave the service a 3 star. The ambience was relaxing if you re not too close to the kitchen (which happened in our case). I probably won t go back.

Great food, great service, can t fault anything about this restaurant! Shout out to Emon, thank you for being so attentive and looking after us at our meal.

The food was just OK nothing spectacular the garlic bread was overpriced and burnt and lacked flavour. The piece of chicken was good.
