When I actually order fried rice and pay for stew I expect to get my fried rice with stew on it ! Wthell, then you guys are not also giving me my plantain for the second time. Tonight just pissed me off because I wasn’t stupid when I paid extra for the damn stew. You just ruined my appetite!
They was a mistake with my order and I immediately told the manager, instead of her to change it she was shouting at me for complaining about the mistake in my order very unprofessional service.. typical Nigeria mentality they feel because they own a place they can talk or behave anyhow to their customers
First time visiting, we purchased the jollof rice and chicken, and it was extremely flavourful! Customer service was excellent! A must try if you’re in the area!
As a driver, when I entered the restaurant, I made eye contact with an employee and since she saw me, I waited in the waiting area because if an employee sees you, you expect them to finish their job and deal with you. After waiting for a certain amount of time, I rang the bell there. A woman who could potentially be the owner of the restaurant came and suddenly started yelling at me. When I got there, she said I had to ring the bell. She said that even if she saw me, she would have kept me waiting on purpose because I didn't ring the bell. She yelled and insulted me as if she had bought me. Even though I told her that this was a waiting area and that there was no sign that I had to ring the bell, she continued to yell and insult me. You need to hire an employee who knows how to talk to people. No one should have to put up with your teenage behavior. No one should hear such words from a bad person like you because of your irresponsibility.
We got The jollof rice and chicken. The jollof rice was the best I've ever had, so spicy and flavourful! Food came out steaming hot too. Definitely go here if you're in the area!
If I could give them less than one star, I would every time I go here the food prices change. The service is horrible and they act like they don’t have common sense. Imagine they tell me paying with cash is an extra charge.
Decided to drop in and try their fufu. Was NOT a mistake! We were greeted with a smile from the waitress, Patience and told her we'd like to try fufu, She suggested we should have it with some Egusi. OMG! what an experience! Great service and excellent food! Great job Patience and Afro Spice Chophouse! We'll be back!
Very poor customer service. I got there no one asked for my order, when I finally said can someone take my order? They then took it, 15 minutes later a staff came and asked what my order was because they did not remember it. When they brought the food after another 15 minutes of waiting, they left one of my orders out. To crown it all I got home and opened the bowl of Egusi, it was like 1 cooking spoon of soup....$17... see photo below. This is the 2nd time. The first time it was like they had run out of the soup and just added water. This is the last time I'm ever going there. Go there at your own peril
chicken was rock harddd
Bad customer service
Food tastes okay, but I paid $30 to receive 1 piece of chicken? That s crazy.
really dope spot !
Afrospice, please stop selling half-cooked rice to your customers. People spend their hard earned money at your store. Jesus!!! This is the 4th time this is happening and I have finally sworn to never buy food from you again.
Huge fan of your shawarma. I buy it almost every time then I decided to buy for myself and my family and it was really salty, we couldn t even eat it. Please take it easy on us next time Kid-friendliness: Nice
They advertise what they dont have.
Had so much hope until I order Ogbono soup and something else what given to me. I must say that I wasn t pleased at all. Simply took the protein and disposed the entire food- 40.96CAD down the drain. I hope they improve and let customers know exactly what they have on their menu would be same as what they would dish out.
Wow!!!!! I was welcomed with a warm smile. The food was very delicious and I was attended to on time. Nice Restaurant. Parking: Spacious parking and organised
Great African cuisine. Food was great. I highly recommend
It was great having my meal at your place. The jollof rice is top notch
Coming back for the pounded yam and efo riro. Love your services too much.
I love my experience at Afro spice Chophouse, imagine having a whole meal of African delicacy in one cuzeen , I will like to have more of what I had today, nice meal, good reception from the well trained staff, the ambiance is so good and welcoming. Keep it up, see you again soon. Vegetarian options: I recommend you to come have a taste of the fresh assorted veggies and you will tank me later. Parking: There is a enough parking lots, I didnt pay a dime for it Kid-friendliness: The assorted food is for both kids and adults, not too salty, not overpriced
While the food is excellent, the service unfortunately falls short. Im concerned that taking my friends here might result in frustration due to the poor service. Based on what Ive seen, Im also doubtful about the restaurants ability to adequately accommodate guests with physical disabilities.
Very rude employees and dirty store with dirty hands which used to touch on their nose and then they prepare the food, never try this dirty food.
The food here is amazing! Very fresh and flavourful. The service is also amazing. Would recommend 10/10
I found the Ghanaian food I was looking for. Smiling staff, happy to assist. Vegetarian options: With the guidance from staff members, I found all I needed Food : 5/5 |
Food didn t taste good. My rice had a burnt taste. The meat portion is way too small.
Good food, but portions are very very small.
I went to buy some food there. The owner, a lady is so rude and arrogant. Very wicked lady. She ripped me off.
Their meals are great but their service is HORRIBLE! I ordered a large tray of jollof rice for my brother s big birthday party. There was a mix up with dates. On the birthday, I m told my order was made the previous day however I got no call or text to confirm even though I had paid. I ask for a large tray and was told they had no food so I should come back the next day after the party. I asked why they didn t call me to pick up. The lady told me to calm down when I panicked as it s not her fault. Also, they are busy and can t confirm orders and she walked out. She ended up refunding the money and 1.5hrs into the birthday party, I m calling restaurants to buy a large tray of rice 70% more than budgeted. Never again!
This was my first time in Canada just visiting and I decided to go to this dirty restaurant. I order ogbono soup and pounded yam. They charged me 23 dollars. I got home opened the food instead of what I ordered she gave me stew and poumded yam. I was I shocked. By the time I got home open the food they had closed ..This is the worst restaurant ever. Do not buy food here. And also trible customer service. I want a refund. I did not eat that food and I will be returning it back tomorrow.
The food was okay, but the waiter did not get my orders right.!
Great food
Very bad customer service, they act as if you were there to beg for food. Particularly this lady on low cuts. She act like she owns the place, very rude! It would be my first and last time patronizing them. The people I met there also complained about the same thing not knowing it would happen to me, she even raised her voice to a customer. To bad, if that lady is the owner of the place she should quit because she is terrible at her job. People come there because their food is tasty but their attitude is disgusting. If you must, order online but never go down there. She even insulted me.
Very delicious food! First time having naija food there and was soooo good! They are nice fun and kind and they treat you like family. Will come again for the great chicken and fufu!
Best place, my kids love their food
Alright
She was rude to a customer again before me,this was a sad experience
Two days ago, I experienced an unfortunate incident where I was excessively charged by the lady responsible for managing the establishment. Instead of offering a kind apology and providing appropriate assistance, she resorted to verbally abusing me. I strongly recommend that they enhance their customer service or hire a front desk personnel who exemplifies kindness, humility, and professionalism. Such measures would greatly contribute to the growth and success of their business.
Horrible customer service. Charged $35 for bread . Definitely avoid
Disappointed isnt even the word. I ordered a few things with 2 veggie soup(watered down), and the portion i received was for a 2 year old, LITERALLY. Spend your money at better establishments. I just happeneded to try this place bcz my main spot closes at 8pm. I honestly wish I took pics lol
loved it
Bad customer service. They are so rude. Bad attitude. The girl who answered the food luck common sense. They are giving Nigerian bad name in the African food industry.
Lovely 9ja meals. Mostly takeout. (Youll have to pay extra to dine in)
Good Nigerian food away from home
0 stars: I wish they would improve their customer service so their business can actually grow. It is so sad because this establish gives the Nigerian food industry in Toronto a terrible image due to their non-existent customer service. Piece of advice if anyone even cares enough to look at these reviews, FIX UP your customer service, because it is the fore front and the core of your business! Stop being rude to customers!!! In addition to that, it will better suite your staff in the long run to take some customer service training because this establishment lacks embarrassingly in that regard. I would share my experience but it is no different from the multiple other reviews complaining about the lady with the short hair and her attitude. I would add however for context that I was served extremely dry chicken with my Jollof rice, very tiny pieces that I could barely bite into cause it was extremely hard, not regular afrospice hard, extremely hard. the chicken lacked taste, moisture, flavour, it felt like it was days old and again EXTREMELY HARD. I was able to get replacements but that was not before going back and forth with a younger staff and another grown man coming out to tell me do you know we sell hard chicken here what??? I wish I took pictures of the chicken they tried to justify LOL. I said to myself no way they are trying to get defensive on some horrible quality food as an establishment. Not only is your customer service terrible, you are also willing to serve your customers horrible quality food?? 0 stars! You been in the same cubicle for years, perhaps consider a different approach to customer service and actually provide quality food, food people can vouch for at all times and you might actually scale your business. - A caring but never ever patronizing customer <3
Solid 7. Tasty food, but I had to wait ages for my order. Parking: Parking available outside the restaurant. Food : 4/5 |
I get the jollof rice and beef and it is my favorite. The beef is so good I tell all my friends about it!
I ordered the jellof rice and goat the goat meat was hard and I was not able to eat it the rice was fine I was not pleased at all
amazing authentic nigerian food made by wonderful people
The food is decent and so is the price BUTTT the service.. I never seen anything like it in 27 years of living lol it was terrible. There are so many better options I wouldn t recommend! Don t waste your time or money
I just left the store and the whole food is burnt and disgusting I had to get something different to eat . Never again
You can order to pick up or walk in, youll still be waiting in the store for a longgg while before anyone is there to service you. Other than that the food is great!
Extremely bad customer service!
Very spice food base on choice
The lady at the cashier was very rude and yelling at me just because I was picking food just me to go do my delivery and did not bother saying sorry. I felt so disrespectful because she was also giving me attitude. I am never coming back again
I have been a customer of this place for years because I love their jollof. I usually go in because I was close by them at the time. Today i called in because i had visitors and needed to place order for about 7 of us. I am 30mins away so I needed to get details of what was available and the price of swallow (remember I ve only really bought jollof) so all my guests could decide what they want. The woman who picked the call was so rude, asking if i wanted to place order or what. Even when I told her I m a frequent customer, she said so why am I asking for details. She was very condescending. Every single time I have guests from out of country, I ALWAYS get food from Afrospice. This is the third time I am getting rude service from them and definitely will be the last!!! Guess they forget there will always be options.
My favourite Nigerian restaurant in Ontario I must say. The owner and her workers are extremely friendly and delightful to interact with. Now the food is amazing! I have tried quite a bit of the menu. The jollof rice with any type of protein is bomb! I love getting chicken assorted or turkey. I particularly like the moin moin. Really nice. Ive also had the ayamashe! *chefs kiss* The only thing i have tried and dont like are the meat pies. It is consistently disappointing as the filling is not quite right in my opinion. Save your coins on that particular item. All in all still love the place and will 100% recommend.
Very very terrible customer service. I called in to get an update for my food that had been placed for more than an hour and this lady explained that they were done preparing it and they re waiting for a driver to come pick it up. I went ahead to tell her that on my end though, it still shows as being prepared so I didn t know if there was something that needed to be updated or something. This lady starts raising her voice and talking down on me in a very rude and condescending manner. If there was a zero star here, I d have gone for that. I m waiting for some sort of backlash from whoever is in charge of responding to reviews since they all seem to be of the same manner. Rubbish!
Worst customer service, do not buy your food here. Thieves
Nice place
The old woman is so rude .. gosh she is so bitter
My Ghanaian friend wanted to try Nigerian but the restaurant I initially wanted to buy from was closed. Afro Spice was close to me so I decided to give it a try. The food was AMAZING. Friend really enjoyed it and practically finished everything! Great customer service as well!
I got engusi with yam and chicken Chicken was old and dry Food : 1/5
Very spicy
the lady in charge was very rude and my order didnt even say when it would be ready
Great service
Finger-licking goodness :)
Dine in is not available. Food is great on a good day but quality is not consistent. The jollof rice is the staple of the restaurant. The service is debatable as they are always slow, if youre in a time crunch Ill not recommend.
Horrible customer service, workers do not care!! Avoid this place at all cost
The worker was socializing with some girls outside as we were walking in. We waited about 15 minutes for him to wrap up his conversation then that s when he decided to take our order. After about 30 minutes the food was finally ready. I ordered suya, but there was barely anything in the suya box, which was suppose to be a large, The goat meat was rubbery, it was hard to chew and was very sticky. In total I paid $60 for 2 plates and a small amount of suya, which was suppose to be a large. The quality of the food, and the amount they give you, on top of the bad customer service is not worth the money.
Very disappointed with the two separate meals I ordered which was suppose to have plantain and protein but didn t have anything with the portion really small. Won t be ordering from here anymore. When I spend my hard earn money, I expect what I ordered not what you feel works for you. Not cool!!
Very rude and harsh customer service I have seen this for the very 1st time
Poor customer service, very rude attitudes towards customers. Not just me.
This restaurant doesnt deserve any stars, the service is horrible. A woman who works there, apparently owns the restaurant, she is very rude, I have never been treated so poorly in such a rude way. And today was not the first time, they are very aggressive. I do not recommend this restaurant. Im never buying anything there again
Very unprofessional establishment. Called to make an order and was named silly for asking which meat to pair my order with. Was unfamiliar with the dishes, the name calling done by the lady on the other end was extremely rude and turns away first time customers. Fix your attitude
Lady over the phone was very unpleasant. I am not familiar with the dishes served and was very excited to try, when I asked the lady over the phone what her meat options were she named a few and I specifically asked if she had beef, when asking she responded with really? in a rude tone she then said do you really want to go back to square one? as ive mentioned I am unfamiliar and just asked a question. I then told her that she was being rude as I was simply asking a question she then called me silly three times. This lady should really work on her customer service and cater to those who may not be educated on the cuisine.
Love the place. The lady can be rude though
Beautiful reception
The lady is just terrible and has anger issues. Very rude and lacks patience. Please fix this and Afro Spice will be amazing.
Great
Very exerlent customer service; good pricing and tastes good
Worst possible customer service ever, period. Food is okay but I will be avoiding this restaurant henceforth
Good place
Not bad for mama put African fast food
If you re looking for a place to get severe food poisoning, this is your spot.
Good food
If it were possible to give negative stars I would! The soup was terrible. The portions are tiny. Worst Nigerian food I have tasted.
Food is not bad.
Nice food and and good workers they are the best
Favourite Jollof rice in Toronto
Horrible service. Lady managing the restaurant is rude and unbearably loud when dealing with paying customers. The food is not bad if you are willing to put up with their service and attitude. They really need to learn how to deal with customers in a more courteous manner. But it may be asking too much. Edit: 8 months after posting this review, the owner responds with a story that never happened. I came in alone to take out. Not with a lady friend as she claims. Please dont respond to negative reviews with a story that never happened and make excuses. Or maybe you are thinking of that other time you treated a customer badly. Own up to your inadequacies and strive to improve your service. Good luck.
I just bought food this morning and they charged my debit twice. I tapped on their visa machine once and the lady said my transaction didnt go through, so I tapped again, only to find out that I have been charged twice. Will never go back. Be very careful guys
.... My order of chicken came with feathers. Guys, this is beyond unacceptable
Ayamase sauce that I ordered here is the worst ayamase Ive ever had, full of water and oil, maggi was too much in the sauce, its simply a waste of money
Food is well made, but the wait time ruins your appetite
Nice place
personally the experience i had as a first timer was bad. the lady has zero respect for anyone. imagine her telling you to put on a mask when she has none on herself. i do not recommend people.
Good food
I went there to go buy Egusi and pounded yam cause I had been craving it for a while now, and after I had gotten my food I went home just to come and see that the egusi they gave me is LITERALLY just stew, barely any egusi in the soup. I was honestly very disappointed that they could give their customers this kind of food to enjoy, stew that I might have as well ordered rice to pour on top of or actually I might as well have cooked at home. Very, very disappointed honestly.
Taste is great, had it twice now, no complaint. The wait time is my only issue. I like to get in and get out.
Good job
Nice and tasty Food
Very poor service. The waiter seemed disinterested. Small portions and more rice than stew. Also why the hell do they use basmati rice? It does not taste like parboiled rice. The chair in the little dining area in the front that I sat on was broken.
The food is really good. Perhaps the best Nigerian dish Ive had in a restaurant in the United States. We got the white rice and stew, and the jollof rice. Served with beef and fish, they were well seasoned. The place is small though and so takeouts are advisable for large groups. And the waiter was polite. All in all, great food
Its nice and also a quick service
First time coming here and no complaints. Food tasted so good. Authentic, delicious and full of flavour. The customer service was excellent unlike most African restaurants. The lady was so friendly and accommodating. She was very pleasant to talk to. I ll definitely go back again.
Great food!
Great food
Good
Fin3
Seem to put a lot of rice in comparison to the meat portion The rice is super spicy and decent but not the best jollof rice in the area. Could use more flavour.
Reasonably priced quality Nigerian food
Their phone is always on busy tone. You cant call to order.
Their customer service skills are trash its pretty sad the food is great but they dont know how to speak to customers. I dont buy food from here anymore for that reason. They treat their customers like trash on the phone. They need to higher other orientations.
Good food
Good Nigerian food
Delicious meals. Minimal issues with them so far.
Bought fried rice with assorted meat but was served with fat, and meat were too soft. Please meats are meant to be chewed.
Wasnt that great of food
Rudest lady dealing over counter , even a 6-year kid know how to talk wisely . illiterate type of customer service by the lady. Mannerless
Moi moi .... delicious .. customer services . Professional very good unlike some other Nigerian restaurants
I love it, they have delicious foods.
The first time i bought moi moi from here,it was refrigerated-probably some days old,i tolerated it becuase i had to satisfy my craving. This 2nd time,i called them before hand and asked if they had fresh moi moi, they replied yes.i came in and was given microwaved moi moi which tastes and looks so stale for probably over 3 weeks or a month. Its not fair to treat customers this way. This Nigerian behaviour of anyhowness can ruin your business in this country. If i get food poisoning i will reportyour business to the Toronto Health and Safety Board.
Liked the African cuisine being served.
Okay
The worst African restaurant so far... No dining space, Not a good environment for cooking. The staff are all dirty with no cooking apron and caps.
Great nigerian food. And affordable price. Place is neat and clean
Love the food here. Amazing taste and service
Food I got was great but the chubby lady at the counter needs better costumer service skills, I d love to come back but her attitude was a HUGE turnoff, learn to have a personality when it comes to costumers then maybe more people would come back.
Tastes like home
Those guys are the bomb . I give.. The food is risky. Almost spent my Yankee money finish there.. Kia mo ya Gbe body mi..
The jollof is heavenly. Unfrlortunately, they were out of chicken so I got the beef. No regrets whatsoever!!!! The pieces were big and intimidating but so juicy!!!! Haf my food for dinner and lunch. $16 , seems too high, but it was worth it
Its okay
Very good jollof rice. I always drop in anytime Im in North York.
This my fav Nigerian joint in GTA. Always hot and fresh cuisine from back home. Keep cooking up the goodies guys!
This is a very good place to b, nice meal. Afro Spice, pls we need more pepper in dat egunsi soup. Tanx
Friendly staff and delicious rice
Food is great but a little bit too mild.
I was really impressed with the quality and quantity of the food!! Very authentic Nigerian food!! This place is the real deal. Great staff great prices! Great taste! We will be back!
Best egusi soup in Toronto
If your looking for a home cooked meal on the go, just head to Afro spice. I ordered jollof rice with plantain, topped with turkey and goat meat. It was all excellent
Romantic food
Delicious food
Nice and Friendly people their food is delicious too.
Good food, service can be a bit slow so call ahead.
Fried rice is good and plantains are yummy. Got the fish and the turkey. Fish was tasty but turkey was a bit too dry.
I had the jollof rice and it was really good. It would be nice if there were mini menus with check boxes so people can fill in thier orders while they wait. It would also help keep track of who had what order.
The food at this place is fantastic. We drive nearly 1 1/2 hrs and the trip was worth it. We were not disappointed at all. We had okra, efo, and pounded yam. Both dishes tasted amazing!!!! I typically don t leave reviews, but I had to for this place. If your ever in Toronto, Canada looking for Nigerian food, definitely check this place out. You will not be disappointed.
Love the jollof rice
A taste of home
They sell very yummy jollof rice and other dishes
They attend to customers with full respect.
The atmosphere is friendly
The Male owner of the restaurant has no manner and very disrespectful towards women. i will never go back.
Very friendly, clean and the food is really tasty. I love it.
The food is pretty great with a changing menu of West African dishes, service is pretty good as well but wait times for food are pretty long.
Good place to get Nigeria food, and other delicacies
Bought food from there this evening. The fried fish that I bought was raw- tried to call them but their phone was out of service. Very disappointed.
