Vietnamese Restaurant
I spent $18 to buy this meal, and what I got back was 2 burned grilled spring rolls. And a spring roll that looks like it was made a long time ago. Really disappointed.
The food is really authentic. The staff can be more friendly but definitely what is expected for local place
Always been a big fan of rice rolls and squid cakes, however I'm always hesitant to come back. First, staff is not properly trained, no smiling, no greeting and weird attitude (I'm Viet and I speak Viet). Secondly, considering the place is small, it's so unnecessary to bang on the kitchen bell twice every minute, just like someone honking at you while driving. Lastly, sanitary level is horrendous, prob the worst of all the Viet joints I have been to, smelly rags to clean table, moldy sauce container and grimy washroom floor made it such an appalling experience.
we ordered to take out and when came to the bill, they automatically add tip into the bill without us knowing, then when we tap machine, they asked for another tip?? we were in rush that time so we didn't check the bill probably until got home . we tip 2 times for 1 take out order?? doesn't make sense! we ordered 3 banh cuon dac biet 16$ x 3 + 2 bun ca 17$ x 2 , supposed to be 92.66 (after tax) but they add 10% tip without asking
Food: 2 Stars Service: 1 Stars Ambience: 1 Stars Value: 1 Stars Overall: 1.25 Stars I visited Banh Cuon Huong Que with my parents, hoping to enjoy a nice meal together, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had anticipated. We decided to try the pho, a dish that typically embodies the comforting flavours of Vietnamese cuisine. However, upon tasting it, we were immediately struck by how salty it was. It was evident that the broth had been loaded with MSG, which completely overpowered the natural flavours. Instead of the light, aromatic broth we expected, we were met with a dish that felt artificially seasoned and far too intense. This made the meal quite unpleasant, as the pho lacked the delicate balance that usually defines this beloved dish. The disappointing food was further compounded by the service we received. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the staff's attentiveness was lacking. We had to wait an unusually long time to place our order, and throughout the meal, it felt like we were an afterthought. While I understand that restaurants can be busy, there was no effort made to acknowledge the delay or check in on us during our meal. This lack of attention really detracted from the dining experience, as we were hoping for a welcoming atmosphere where we could enjoy our time together as a family. Given these issues, it's difficult to find any positives to highlight about our visit. On top of this we sat near the window and the seating was very uncomfortable and awkward. The combination of underwhelming food and poor service left us thoroughly disappointed. Dining out is often about more than just the food; it's also about the experience, and unfortunately, Banh Cuon Huong Que failed to deliver on both fronts. We had hoped for a warm, enjoyable meal, but instead, we left feeling dissatisfied and unlikely to return. While I believe in giving places a fair chance, the significant flaws in both the food and service make it hard to justify a second visit. We won’t be coming back to Banh Cuon Huong Que, as our experience was simply not up to par. For those considering a visit, I would recommend tempering your expectations, especially if you are particular about the quality of pho or attentive service. There are many other spots that offer a more balanced and satisfying dining experience, and I would suggest exploring those options instead. kellychan360
Follow @bredgyeats for yummy food pictures! Banh Cuon Dac Biet - Rice rolls were decently filled for Toronto standards with minced pork, woodear. Rice rolls were slightly chewy and provides a nice, smooth texture that also clings on the fish sauce pretty well. The wrapper was thin where there was filling, but was thick on the ends of the roll. Fish sauce is slightly sweet and not very pungent. Comes with about 8 pieces. On the bottom are three slices of reg. viet sausage, and three slices of cinnamon sausage. Fried squid cakes are fragrant and slightly on the oily side, but tastes great. Springiness of the fish cake and crisp bounciness of the squid. Comes with a generous portion of steamed bean sprouts, shredded cabbage and some thinly sliced pickled carrots, along with 2 slices of cucumber
Came here with a group and was really disappointed with the service. For casual joints like this, I typically don’t expect much in terms of service - I’m really just there for the food. But I found the servers here to be not only inattentive, but actually quite rude. For that reason, I would not return. In terms of food, I’d only really recommend getting the banh cuon - which is what they’re known for. They make this dish really well! The texture of the banh cuon and squid cake is delicious. Every other dish we ordered was not the best and you could probably get better quality for cheaper at the many other Vietnamese restaurants in this area. The atmosphere was a bit dark and dingy but that could have been forgiven had the service been more welcoming. All in all, I would not recommend this place unless you’re really jonesing for some banh cuon!
Casual Vietnamese restaurant to grab a quick meal. It was surprisingly very busy on a weekday for lunch with all tables filled, but we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The squid cakes that came with the banh cuon were very good! The only thing I would comment on is that the bathrooms could be a little cleaner. There was also almost no toilet paper in them.
will come again
Banh cuon is always a hit. Love this place.
Terrible service I ordered my foods 20 minutes before coming to pickup. The orders were not ready when I came and while I was waiting; other customers came in and order the same food - bánh cu n and their food is ready in 5 min; when i asked why and the server had the nerve to tell me that the people dine in had higher priority . It should be first come first serve. This is bad service never coming back again no matter how good the food is
delicious banh cuon
Very dark and outdated. Bánh cu n was microwave very disappointing to come to a restaurant and have old bánh cu n not fresh. I do love to support Vietnamese restaurant but I also know when places cut corners and are lazy to give customer a proper a meal that was paid for. Not sure if the cooks are also owner or not but should practice business the right way. We can tell when bánh cu n is microwave as a Vietnamese
Small and tight dining room. But, food quality is top notch!! Be prepared for a little wait to get in. This is one of my new Top Three Viet eateries in GTA..
Delicious hot soft rice rolls, a large square plate, delicious dipping sauce, many types of rolls. Rare pho is edible, but not as good as banh cuon, priced at 18 VND
Excellent Banh Cuon So delicious! Squid cake is also amazing. Food
tried to order by phone. hung out right away disgusting restaurant
Recommend the wet cake/banh cuon and the grilled meat vermicelli
The fish/squid cake that comes with the banh cuon dac biet is very good.
Tres delicieux Very delicious Food
Came in last May so it was still chill outside during the day. But inside the restaurant was quite hot. Atmosphere was not that great. Staff was not professional and cheerful at all. Even though I speak Vietnamese, I could not hear what the staff said a couple of times and had to ask him to repeat. No greeting, no smile ( well I worked at restaurants so I know the basic), no thank you!! Just stared The food was decent for the price. My husband likes the squid cake. The texture and smell of the banh cuon met my high expectations. I would come back for the food but the poor service prevents me doing so. So unfortunate for a restaurant selling decent Banh cuon dishes (not a lot of places expert in this dish) like this
Pho was better than any other pho place. Downside is the misleading debit card option. This place is cash only.
delicious rolls
Parking: 15 spots Food
Bad service, staff attitude towards customers. Guests walked in without greeting them, and even stared at them. When customers paid, they didn t thank them but just yanked the bill. The food was good but the service was bad, the owner should retrain the staff on how to respect customers. :)
The restaurants food is very bad, the banh cuon order lacks fish sauce and the spring rolls should not be eaten, the service is too sloppy and does not check the customers order. Crap!!!!
Service attitude is not good and unprofessional The staffs face looked like he was carrying a group of guests
Wife took me to this spot for Banh Cuon. I didnt have it in Vietnam so I didnt know what to expect in terms of authenticity. She made it before so I had some idea. But the banh cuon here was amazing! She admits this spot does it better than her, but she is still learning. We didnt have anything else just the banh cuon dac biet and it came out quick! I cleaned that dish so quickly that I was tempted to steal from her plate.
The food is amazing. The most authentic Vietnamese food in Toronto. I find it even better than many restaurants in Vietnam. If you like Banh Cuon, this is a must-visit. However, i prefer to order in, the atmosphere at the restaurant is not very pleasant.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here. We had banh cuon no.5, bun bo hue, bun ca and cafe sua da. The portion was generous , service was fairly quick. This seems to be a popular place for the Vietnamese in the area.
We ordered through ubereat and the food delivered was still hot. We got chao long and bun cha. The taste is 90% authentic. I like their buncha meat, the noodles were a bit soggy, maybe because of the long ride to our hotel. But overall, if we were to come back to Toronto, we ll support them again.
Ive tried many Banh cuon across the GTA and beyond. None comes close to the sides even down to the shredded vegetables you get from here. The Meat and squid patties are very good. Price is much cheaper than most places and you dont even get the same sides.
Ok
Ordered 3 bun cha ha noi and meat is uncooked
Take out the clothes 1 hour late, next time avoid it
The banh cuon here has a lot of filling inside, unlike a lot of places in Toronto. Really tasty. Take out took 15 mins for 5 orders of banh cuon and pho tai.
Best banh cuon in the gta
The squid spring rolls are very delicious, the young egg chicken pho is delicious
Literally a small Vietnamese mom & pop - like diner. It s not super fancy but the selection, dishes, quality are super authentic and of quality. Their chicken pho, banh cuon, and speciality dishes (that are not normally offered in typical viet restaurants) are my favourite go-tos. Love this place
Best banh cuon in northyork.
Kid-friendliness: So good Service!!! Recommended dishes
The service staffs attitude was so bad. I came with my two small children and sat facing the TV screen. Two male staff members calmly opened a movie with a sensitive and naked scene and sat while working and watching. Another staff member saw that. So yell, whos opening the porn? But after that everything was still the same, the other guy was still working, the 2 guys were still watching. I was really angry and charged money to go home quickly. I think the shop owner should review this issue and re-educate his staff
Tastes good and comes out quickly
delicious! trusted by Vietnameses!
You oder special chicken noodle soup.. they give you chicken bone with noodle.. never come back ever ahain
Love this place before. The food was okay, but last visit there so many fly. The spoon was oily and wasnt clean
The food is as always very tasty except today ph gà tái Due to the fact that they didn t have what I ordered, perhaps they gave us a complimentary - nice, thank you very much There seems to be mì chính in the soup and now I feel a little bad In general, everything is ok, as we came to you before, we will come again
Banh cuon has quite delicious dipping sauce. Average price, neither expensive nor cheap.
Waited more than 20 minutes to receive a bowl of vermicelli that did not come out vermicelli. TOO MANY COLORS. Boiled pork also has a fishy taste and the service attitude is unprofessional. Really so disappointed!
They put way too much MSG in their broth, way too sweet like a dessert. I ordered 2 dishes today which were chicken pho and bun cha ca, ended up having dizziness after eating them. I would never comeback here again.
delicious and authentic
The best place to get stuffed pancake with squid pancakes! Highly recommended!
Banh cuon is so good
Delicious and fresh, thank you.
Authentic Vi t food. Fresh rice till and chicken pho always the best
Banh cuon is deliciousnnnn delicious
If you dont have the heart to order food, wait more than an hour until its almost time to order.
Get their specialty: Banh Cuon. The squid cakes are so good. The dish is very tasty and fresh.
New furniture. Good food. Always get the running/spring chicken Pho.
The best Vietnamese restaurant in Toronto! I tried many Vietnamese restaurants and there is no other than this. We would travel all the way from Scarborough just to eat here. Excellent
Was craving banh cuon and dropped by - I ordered the banh cuon cha lua, $14.50 with tax. Felt like there could ve been more meat, the fish sauce felt more on the sour side, so it kinda ruined the dish for me. Didn t need the salad on the side.
I ordered Special Banh cuon from here. Not really special but it is their specialty, you should try. Around $16 for 1 Banh cuon including taxes.
Food were good but the service attitude was really bad, especially the wording that the lady owner used was extremely awful, would never ever go back again.
We had burritos pupusas and tacos very good and authentic
Google map, yes. The local, family-sized one, and dine in/out or delivery service. Cozy, friendly, and about 10 tables. Come to exprience your culinary essentials Parking: Google map, yes. Front, rear parking.
I m surprised it s so good. I have been in Toronto and couldn t believe that I didn t try it earlier. Highly recommend their bun ca or banh cuon.
Not a clean restaurant at all. Our table was not cleaned properly. The people who were waiting for take out use the dining table and the tables don t get cleaned afterwards . Cleanliness was a major issue at this place. I ll not go back.
My place to-go whenever I m craving for banh cuon
Waited 45 min and I still did not get my order, bad customer service .
The food is super delicious here! Its a cute little spot, we had a very sweet young man serving us who didnt speak much English but with help from his peers, he took great care of us and we were very grateful of his kindness. The only thing I can ask if they can please put the beer in the fridge! The cup of ice was appreciated but it should be in the fridge at all times. Also, variety would be great as they only have one kind, Heineken, which dont get me wrong, is a good import. Overall, I can say they are consist with the quality of food and thats the most important thing.
Very good banh cuon. Pho is so so.
Good cooking
Banh cuon here is very good.
Best Bánh Cu n aka Vietnamese Rice Rolls in Toronto for now. N c m m ch m is perfectly paired with the rice rolls. Hot and Fresh.
The best banh cuon I ever had
Ordering via phone, the staff picked up the phone and accepted the order, the staff told them to arrive in 30 minutes because the restaurant was crowded. Im okay because I understand that today is the weekend, so I go here and there for 1 hour. When I went to the restaurant to pick it up, the staff said he had forgotten it and hadnt made my order yet. He told me I had to wait another 15-20 minutes. After making them wait more than 30 minutes and then telling them to wait more, I was quite upset so I had to order again through Uber Eats. But when the food arrived, it was completely different from the restaurant
I come here occasionally for #5, the house special with squid cake in the picture. Its actually good and very filling.
Terrible service. Today Sunday i came ordered a L Pho take out I Asked the girl how long do I have to wait she said its fast But, half an hr the food still not ready, Pho shouldnt take that long. Its also pricy, They charged me $ 4 for a container of broth when I buy extra broth OMG !!! I have been dinine here since many years But, I definitely will not come here anymore. Not ever again. The Restaurant also looks Dirty I just noticed lately. Dont understand why theres still many reviews gave 5 stars. they dont deserve even two stars. I wont recommend any friends to come here. The owner should ever look & pay attention Seriously !!!
Amazing Bánh cu n. Good menu, good price, good service.
Delicious food at great prices!
Banh Cuon (nice presentation. Refreshing and fulfilling. But a bit bland Fried chicken (smells really nice. But the chicken itself is meh Slow service. Waited 30 minutes for our take out order
None of the staff wear masks
Added too much MSG, every bit of soup gave me a headache, dizziness and I couldnt wake up for several hours. I dont dare eat it again
This is such a serious health matter to me I ordered food from this restaurant before and today I decided to try it again hoping everything will turn out to be good On my note on Uber food delivery I have mentioned to the restaurant that I am allergic to seafood and it s serious to my health ! I have asked them to excluded seafood out from my orders ( attached pictures ) they removed squid but not shrimps ! The funny part is that these steamed rice - rolls description never have shrimps but I don t know why they mixed them in my food despite my health concern ! When I called the restaurant and wanted to speak to the owner with my feedback ! The receptionist guy lied to me saying that no owners nor supervisor in the restaurant and I was like who runs business like this ? With no owner and supervisor After a long conversation - the receptionist guy agreed for me to bring back for a exchange with no seafood ! I live pretty far away from the restaurant and super hungry ! By the time I got there ! Omg ! No hand sanitizer at front entrance ! Too many staff working in a small sqft area ! No social distancing among staff ! The owners came out from the restaurant simply refused to make new steamed rice rolls ! They asked me to pay extra ! They said to me that they cannot even sell what I have brought back and I then questioning them if they are trying to sell old food ! ?? They were hesitating to answer my questions ! My simple ask for the restaurant is to make the new one without seafood as I have paid everything including service fee ! Uber tips and etc and my time traveling ! Problems with this restaurant ! 1) Menu on Uber food were unclear with food description 2) Receptionist lied when being asked to speak to the owner ! They always say : no owner in store 3) when I spoke English to them ! They asked me to speak Vietnamese as they don t fully understand English ? How can you open business with no English communication ? 4) too many staff working in sQFt area ! That restaurant is like 700 SQFt and there 4 people working together 5) NO SOCIAL distancing Friends ! I don t want you guys to experience what I have experienced with this restaurant ! Please avoid this place at all cost ! I have learned my lesson and I will NEVER support this small local business BANH CUON HUONG QUE By the way ! If anyone of you guys experienced the same thing ! You should contact Health Violations to report !
Authentic Vietnamese cuisines. Well packed to take out.
During lock down this restaurant was allowing patrons to walk in, sit down, order food and eat inside. This was a violation of public health orders and they should be shut down. Incredibly irresponsible.
Vietnamese tranditional food recommend
Banh cuon is a must try. Pho was okay bun bo hue was good but I feel both lack a little flavour. Customer service definitely needs help. Not very pleasant
Good for banh mi
The meat in bun dau mam tom tastes and smells like its going bad and looks like its been in the fridge for a while. I couldnt eat it at all. Also waited 45 mins on uber eat just for them to cancel my order last minute once. Totally waste of time.
Best farm chicken in town
Havent had anything here that I didnt like. Everything is authentic and flavourful. Only negative is they are located too far from me !
One of the good vietnamese restaurants in the area.
Lovvvvv there pho!! Now i must have it three times a week!! This is my new fav place to go!!
Very Good Service Clean Environment And They Have Great Attention To Detail In Quality Of Their Food Tastes Great
It s a small place. Nothing special on this place. Just eat and go.
The fish soup is highly recommended.Five stars frequently visit every week
Bomb diggity.
Truly amazing Vietnamese food. I m a first generation Viet, and this place is better than eating at my mom s house!! I recommend the fish soup (bun cha ca) or the pho. They specialize in chicken pho but I had the beef, it was so tender and delicious. The cooked beef was brisket that tasted like it was simmered for 12hr in soup stock, so flavourful and fragrant! I m getting hungry just writing this review. Definitely go if you want to experience a 5 star bowl of authentic Vietnamese soup!
I ate here with my parents and this might be the best tasting bun cha ca in the area! The broth is rich and delicious and they provide a generous helping of fish cakes in the bowl. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for others in the area! I ll definitely be back if I m in town again.
Chicken was like rubber and bad smell as well as the brisket had to throw everything out
The food is okay but the price is a bit high
Bad server guy :))
Pho Ga (chicken) and Banh Cuon are really good here. Go to spot for a quick and reasonably priced meal!
I ve had the pho and banh cuon here and they re both really good. The restaurant seems super clean, they need to update their open and closing times however. I
The banh cuon isn t good at all. My dad said this place have good banh cuon but when I first went I really didn t like it. So I though maybe it s a one time off and I should return next time to see if it taste any better. But it turns out the same and taste pretty gross. I do see other Vietnamese there eating banh cuon but they are mostly students. These students can eat anything lol even if it s gross. This place isn t busy so you get seated fast that s the only good thing if you don t mind student food
Squid spring rolls are especially delicious, other foods are also quite delicious. But the service is not very good. Today (Jun 14) when I came to eat, the female waitress was quite uncomfortable, not warm to the customers, constantly yelling at the male waiter very loudly at the customers. I hope the store reconsiders customer service Will still come back for the rolls
Missing item, and it was for a family dinner, disappointed. We got not really helpful customer support. Although food is tasty, avocado milkshake quality wasn t consistent, ordering 4 cups turned out 3/4 having unpleasant aftertaste. Hope you folks improve the quality of beverages and we re excited to try more dishes from your restaurant.
Best in Toronto.
If you sell food, dont give fish sauce or shrimp paste, then why eat it??? No matter how many times I buy it, its always missing, so what should I eat now???? - Sell food without fish sauce, shrimp sauce and now how to eat it ??? How many times I bought it, I always missed it, what kind of meal is it ????
Always come here for banh cuon and cha muc is the best. Strong recommended for banh cuon lovers.
Great food good service and very nice people Will definitely eat from there again
As the name would suggest, go here for the banh cuon. Some of the other dishes look like they might be ok, but Ive only ever had the banh cuon. Like many specialty places in Vietnam, the same goes for this store - come for what they make, cause thats really the foundation theyre built on. The banh cuon is done well - good texture, decent filling (pork, nam meo, onions), and comes with a good variety of meats (if you order the special / dac biet) - cha lua, cha muc, cha que. The way they make their banh cuon, it seems like a smaller wrap, as opposed to the more traditional sized ones that are more like what you might see from a Chinese dim sum place and their rice rolls (w/ shrimp, beef, etc.). The fish sauce is good, and the meats are pretty good - I like their cinnamon one (cha que) best, but their squid (fresh made(?) cha muc) is pretty good too. I wish they also served it with banh cong (like a deep fried muffin). Price is decent, on par with most others. There used to be some pretty good places on St Clair, but those are gone now. I think this one might be the best in the city if youre looking for quality banh cuon. Service is decent, cash only, and parking lot is a little small, free, but never too busy that you wont get a spot. There might be a bit more parking around back, but Ive never needed to. Id definitely recommend this place, and if Im craving banh cuon, this is now my go to place.
Tasty and fresh, will come back again :)
Delicious! Will definitely come back again.. the only down side is this is a cash only establishment
Delicious
The Bang Cuon was great. Finally a second place in town to get great bang cuon.
A nice place to try Vietnamese pancake
Great tasting food, fair pricing. Fast service! Ngon!
Banh cuon and moist are delicious but they put too little. If the price is like that for a few slices of banh uot and cuon, its too expensive. Because rice flour is not expensive. They should review other places where there are not so many.
not tasty enough. slow service
Authentic vietnamese food
No good. After I eat at this restaurant and I have stomach pain and I have diarrhea.
Delicious food here, natural tea and friendly service, economical and delicious
Food is ok
A taste of real Vietnamese cooking
Authentic Northern Viet.
The new owner has changed it to another level, it s truly authentic! you must try banh cuon with pork pie/ squid. The fish noodle is delicious as well
Most amazing. Love the banh cuon!
Restuarant is clean and modern enough. Tried the banh cuon and it was aesthetically pleasing, and tasted just as good as it looked. Linda was my server and she was friendly, courteous and detail oriented. Excellent service and I would definitely recommend my family and friends here.
their food is terrible. any viet resto next door is better lmfao. the only good thing is decor here owner please dont hire bots to write fake reviewers rather improve your food and service
Small restaurant with prices similar to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Ordered their specialty dish banh cuon which was good. Flavourful and thin combined with the tangy sweet fish sauce. Also ordered goi cuon, fish sausage noodle soup and Vietnamese coffee. I would return for the banh cuon.
Nice authentic cuisine
Economical and good
Good portions and good prices
Good Vietnamese food
One of many in the area that adds to the local flavour! Good eats.
cash only but pho is expensive and mediocre and service is slow. i suppose their banh cuon is better as its in the store name but i dont really want to go back after the disappointing pho.
Very authentic Banh Cuon
Very authentic dishes that you dont typically find and ingredients are like no other. Farm fresh chicken.
Food is very good compared to the price. Warming welcome. One disadvantage that they just accept cash.
By far one of the best vietnamese place for traditional vietnamese food. The ban cuon, pho ga long and cha muc is up there. Obviously the price is not cheap compare to other but the quality is top notch and that is coming from a Vietnamese that travel for food. Cheers to a new find
