Worst Carribean food in Toronto. Went there seeing the good Google rating. But the food was far from fresh, most likely the food was cooked a couple of days ago and just microwaved before serving it to us. Part of the food was cold and some part hot, dry and tasteless.

Great place to bring friends and family , food is awesome restaurants is clean prices are complimentary I keep coming again and again and will come back again , brought also my best friend here and he love to food. Before I have eaten Snapper fish and Callalou and Ackee and salted fish and my friend had oxtail. I was in the store today and I noticed a couple came in today and where very moody, they where serve with the appreciation of the host, however it seems like they left a comment that was filled with flawed implications- I m referring specifically to (Tauhid Belal Khan) in rating section. As a witness in the store at the same time as them they had other motives. A lot of customers come here including myself and use the takeout orders no issues or very minor. The couple had other problems. However they did eat all the food only thing they left was the vegetables.

Oxtail, rice and peas, coleslaw, and the mac salad were soo good !

Chicken was not very fresh, ordered the bbq chicken and it was battered and deep fried which was not expected. Chicken had very little meat and I got the large. Coleslaw legitimately went bad, had a spoiled taste and texture. Gave 3 instead of 2 because I understand I came between lunch and dinner. Rice was good.

This place is a rip off. Charged us way too much. And the chicken was so dry. This place is not worth your money. Not a well run or trustworthy establishment.

Great portions and yummy fresh food

I cannot express how much this place is amazing! When we were down to see a concert and it got shut down because of the weather, they graciously let us in, had some fantastic beers, and some of the most outstanding food Ive had in 10 years, and Ive been dating in a Caribbean family for a while. If you are ever in the area make sure not to miss this place, and Ill definitely be back soon because I want some stew peas

Everything was incredible and the value for your dollar is waaaaaay better than any other Carribean restaurant that I have been to in the area Vegetarian options: the salad and the red beans and rice were KILLER! A small meal was enough for 2 meals!

Jerk chicken is amazing, bursting with flavour and the rice is cooked to perfection. Highly recommended checking this place out. You won t be disappointed

It was my first time visiting this place, and it was really nice. The lady working there was super nice and friendly - customer service 10/10. I got Ackee and saltfish with rice and peas, and it was very delicious. The food was freshly prepared and very flavourful. If you love Caribbean food and homemade taste, this is the place to go. I will be visiting again to try other items on the menu.

Some of the best jerk chicken in Toronto. Incredible taste and falls right off the bone. Rice is on point and the service is great.

Definitely my new go to spot for Jamaican. The food and service are amazing. Bbq chicken and jerk are to die for! Ask for the cornmeal porridge. Highly recommend. I ve never left here unsatisfied.

I must say being a foodie guy and finding this gem of a restaurant around my work place I actually visited this place Goldstar restaurant twice today lunch and I m taking home dinner yum yum 100% so if ur looking for some delicious Caribbean food that u wanna try everything on the menu like I got a order of oxtail/ bbq chicken let me tell u the best oxtail I ve had in a very long time the portion excellent and sooooooo flavorful then try (Goodstar Caribbean restaurant) u won t be disappointed

Hidden gem that has to be tried! The food was perfect and the price as well. It reminded me of my childhood growing up with carribean food.

I saw this restaurant had a 4.9 rating so had to run! It did not disappointed! I got the stew chicken with rice and peas. Delicious! I got it with extra gravy too. Sooo yummy! When I went, no one was in the shop so I was a little wary at first. But I was wrong! I d go back if I m in the area for sure! Big up!

This place is one of those hidden gems. The owner is the loveliest woman. We enjoyed the chicken soup to the point that we ordered another one to go, in a larger size. The jerk chicken was cooked to perfection and you can just tell the food was made with love and the best vibes only. We will definitely be coming back here to try the other dishes. Authentic Jamaican cooking, homestyle food that will not disappoint. My new number 1 option in North York. I was introduced to Goldstar two weeks ago and I have been back twice since. From the rice and peas are shelly and nice you know the rest of the food is good.

Goldstar was a last minute google search for us. We brought 8 families there two weeks ago in-between basketball games. We pretty much took up the entire restaurant. The owner/chef and her son did a wonderful job of feeding 8 teenagers and their parents. The food was VERY tasty and the portions were a good size. Our group left satisfied and well fed. Thank you so much for hosting us. When in the area we will certainly come again.

Some of the best food I ve had. I was part of a group of 10 that decided to drop by last second because of good reviews and Goldstar didn t disappoint. We were served quickly despite the amount of food ordered and they were very hospitable. Great service and great food - definitely want to come back for more!

Firstly I would like to say great customer service. This is our second time coming here! The food presentations is beautiful. Great portion and chicken is well done! Only thing is the coleslaw is in a small container, wish it was bigger because the coleslaw is good lol. Othewise the food was great.

I ve never come across customer service like this at a Jamaican restaurant! It s 3pm and my boyfriend walked in to get me a meal, the woman working said they had no more chicken and asked if he s willing to wait for a fresh batch. Who do you knowww!!! She put her heart in this chicken omg I can t type fast enough with sauce on my hands. 10s across the board!

DELICIOUS Carribean food and friendly service. Dine in or take out. Tried the Oxtail, Jerk and Curry chicken which all come with rice, peas and coleslaw. Couldnt even tell you what my favourite was because they all stood out in their own unique way. This place is a tucked away little gem in North York. Dont pass it up!!

Honest review won t say this is the worst Jamaican restaurant I ve been to because it has potential but here are my 3 reasons I won t be going back 1. Restaurant is always closed Despite the hours listed don t count on this place being open. Went to get lunch a handful of times only to find out it was closed. 2. If you are ordering food to go check before leaving I ordered the fry chicken twice now, just to get home and find jerk chicken I wouldn t be mad if the jerk was good but that was the worst thing I ever ate. Mind you the owner handed me the bag saying large fry chicken knowing it wasn t. 3. They don t make / plate the food right in front of you makes me wonder how fresh the food really is Overall experience was very disappointing I want nothing more than to have a great Jamaican spot close to home. The fry chicken was actually pretty good and I would love to support the business but the overall lack of care, lack of effort and lack off consistency makes me never want to return here

I m a contractor for Klause Lab I saw the sign and came and tried the Ackee and sslfish, the food hit the spot. Nicely courteous I fully recommended when Hungry .

I live right around the corner from this new gem. I usually take my walks down Kodiak cres and it s not in a spot that is easily noticed as it s mostly through traffic that goes by as it s an industrial area. I noticed it there the other day and immediately was super excited there could be a great Caribbean place that is walking distance. It did not disappoint! I went at an odd time around 1:45 on a Friday, and sometimes with smaller places like this, by that time the food can be dry, however I ordered the large jerk chicken with rice and peas and it was awesome! Great flavour and the portion was more than enough. Whom I assume is the owner was very nice and pleasant as well. I can already tell I ll be a regular and can t wait to try more what they have on the menu !

Im glad to finally find a local Jamaican restaurant that I really enjoyed. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to get the lunch special on the weekend. The staff was friendly, polite and I will definitely be a returning customer for sure.

Fantastic experience. The owner is awesome. I love the yellow tail snapper and today i ordered jerk chicken, festival and 2 beef patties. The portion is a lot, love it. If youre in the neighborhood or on Kodiak crescent check it out. Its worth the drive.

Got the Medium Jerk Chicken. Comes with rice and peas, oxtail gravy sauce, salad and side creamy coleslaw. Portions was big! Had this for dinner and lunch! Jerk Chicken was good, creamy coleslaw was good. A hidden gem.

taste is good but the ox tail is not that soft i was craving for it and they forgot my plantain which i am so disappointed I paid like almost $20 for it.

The service is great. I love the bbq chicken. Ive been 3 times in a week. Ive also tried their cornmeal porridge and dumplings. They have a little bit of a lunchtime rush (just a 5-10 minute wait) so plan accordingly

Today I had the Curry chicken. Its great tender and well cooked. Very nice presentation. Hope little more flavor spice next time but really good though. Looking forward to try other options as they have Many options for good value
