Hazel's Restaurante offers Brunch, Lunch and Dinner.
I've eaten there twice. First time the burger was amazing, ground fresh and well made. Second time not do much. So depends on who's in the kitchen I suppose. Service is exceptional though. Quick, friendly and on point. There's a nice diner feel to the place.
The waitress was super friendly! However, I noticed a bit of an unpleasant, chemical-like smell in the restaurant (at least to me). My food was just okay, and unfortunately, there were quite a few flies competing with me for my meal, even though I was seated fairly far inside.
We visited Hazel’s Diner recently, and unfortunately, it didn’t leave a great impression. The first thing I noticed was a layer of dust on the front counter, which wasn’t very inviting. On top of that, the dishes on our table weren’t cleaned properly, which was disappointing. I ordered The Caker, but it was really dry and lacked flavor, making the meal pretty underwhelming. The one positive was the server, who was friendly, respectful, and very attentive. She genuinely tried to make the experience better, and her excellent service is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1. Hazel’s Diner has potential, but they need to focus more on cleanliness and the quality of their food if they want to stand out.
Great breakfast and friendly service. I go here at least twice per week and I’ve never been disappointed. Support this local place instead of McDonald’s across the street 🙏🏼
The service was good and the sausage was flavourful. However, the food was too oily and some of the vegetables were burned. This diner is a good option if you are looking for a quick breakfast but avoid it if you care about the quality of the food. Prices were very reasonable, given the premium location.
Hazels is anything but your average diner! The staff and food were amazing. I hosted a brunch for my mom’s birthday for 16 guests and the table was prepped nicely for my guests. We had the honour of meeting the chef and owner. He was super friendly and accommodating and ensured we enjoyed our meal. He put on some music so we could have an upbeat atmosphere and also turned on the heat as it was super cold that day. The food was amazing, everyone who attended had countless compliments. The portions were hefty and the flavour was great as everything was seasoned well. Tea and coffee refills came around often so no one had an empty cup. As well, their mimosas were very yummy! We brought in our own dessert- for allergy reasons, the staff willingly offered to take it to the kitchen to keep it cold for us until we were ready to serve. They cleaned up the table and prepped us for dessert with small forks and plates. Dessert was brought out with a candle and a fruit rosette tower. They even played a happy birthday song for the whole diner to sing along to! To continue the celebration, our table was given a round of limoncello shots on the house! This was definitely an unforgettable experience! Hazel’s has the most attentive and accommodating staff members and this truly was the highlight of my mom’s day. Thank you Hazel’s for a great service, meal and experience. We will definitely be there again soon!
The service was amazing. The food was delicious and well presented. The staff and chef were the best part of dining here. They were so friendly and attentive to our party that came in. Also thank you for the fast service of a party of 14 people! From Jennifer Love!
Arrived at 11ish, waited for like 10 min. Had Sunday brunch. Love it so much especially the light trucker, looks so inviting and tastes wonderful. Hash is a so so one. Coffee is great. Service is nice. Price is relatively reasonable considering the recent inflation. Definitely a place to come back soon👍
Love this place! So cozy and inviting, and the food is delicious!
The food is not satisfying because Im not confident in the chefs skills.
Pretty pricey for the quality of food. Sausages tasted funny, eggs overcooked. Not the freshest food. Over $100 for 4 adults simple breakfast
Depending on what you order it is a hit or miss. We had brunch here this weekend and we had the trucker special and a BLT, the trucker special was an amazing and generous amount of food not to mention delicious, however I was disappointed when my BLT came out it was maybe 4 pieces of bacon total and it was 16 bucks to me that absolutely absurd. Additionally when settling up I come to find out the orange juice is 7$ there is no drink menu to specify this I believe this to be a bit of a low blow to customers considering there is no refills and it is just generic orange juice. I think all and all it was ok but would not choose it over other local breakfast places in the area.
Nothing special at all. Food is OK, not bad, not good. Good the roast beef sandwich and the regular breakfast.
We had a delicious breakfast/lunch. The food was fantastic and the owners couldnt do enough to make us happy. This is definitely a hidden gem.
Excellent breakfast spot. Food and service was great- and free ice cream for the kids!!!
Since they ve had new owners, this place has gone royally downhill. Will never go back. Food is terrible and the service is even worse. If you re lucky enough to get asked if you need anything, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for them to come back.
Breakfast was pretty mid. Burnt toast, gross beans, good potatoes and sausage. All around came together for the most 3/5 breakfast Ive had in a while. Wouldnt be so much of an issue if the prices werent so high. You cant charge this much for the quality of food coming out of the kitchen. Service was prompt, but not very welcoming. Left feeling overall unsatisfied and wouldnt be back
Unfortunately, I have to be honest about our experience. The food tasted stale, was over-fried, and had no flavor. Even the coffee wasn t fresh and had a stale taste . On top of that, the restaurant was dirty, which made things even worse . Above all, they forced customers to pay in cash because their card machine wasn t working . We won t be coming back at all, and I wouldn t recommend this place to anyone . Parking: There is parking nearby where you can park for free for up to one hour.
Excellent service and quality of food is top notch. Deen the owner personally came to our table to ensure everything was satisfactory Great family and friends atmosphere. Food
Love some good Diner vibes! Legit dining experience, food was on point and its a great local place to hit up for brunch. I just wish they opened in the evening.
Quality has dropped off since the new owner came in unfortunately. Mount pleasant location is still amazing.
The waitress was so nice! However, there was a bit of a bad smell in the restaurant (at least to me), kind of chemical-ey. My food was just okay. There were also quite a number of flies contesting me for my food while seated quite far inside.
Super friendly, attentive and polite staff. Food was fantastic.
Food is decent, and priced well. Staff are a bit slow and sitting around talking while people are eating. Not really attentive service. However staff are friendly. Would return again.
The quality of the food has severely dropped, certainly not as good as before, for slightly higher prices.. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Absolutely fantastic care. We went with our kids and we were so well accommodated and treated so lovely by the staff. Food was delicious as well!! A neighbourhood joint :) We ll be back!
Great breakfast and lunch place. Today we both ordered chicken Cobb salad. Usually its eggs Benedict or Hash. All great choices. Service is a bit slower now with new staff.
fav pancakes ever ever
Made a reservation to come here for brunch on Saturday at 8am when they open. The restaurant accepted the reservation and they were closed when we arrived. We waited around to see if they would open and they never did. We went to breakfast somewhere else and passed by the restaurant on our way home. It was still closed
Great location, excellent food, fantastic service. LOVE this place. Now fully renovated and under new ownership. Owner cares and comes around and checks. Our server was Shruti and she was superb. Deen is owner and he is fabulous. I think they are now also open for dinner. HIGHLY recommended.
very friendly staff <3 Wheelchair accessibility: bathroom on ground level! Food : 5/5 |
Great breakfast. Super clean. We will come back.
TLDR: This place lies about their menu items and gaslights you when you point out issues and sprinkle in some light racism. One of the worst experiences Ive ever had in a restaurant. Ordered an apple juice which was listed as freshly squeezed but was very clearly from concentrate. Then the grilled fish I ordered came. First bite looked okay but the second bite I saw that it was a bit raw, and even more raw into the thicker section of the meat. I asked the waitress about this expecting the simple solution to be oh so sorry, let me grill it up for you. NOPE. She didnt know what to do and went to get the manager who told me THEY MAKE THEIR FISH MEDIUM RARE! and it was my fault for not ordering it another way. How would I have known that? This wasnt mentioned when I ordered it. she took it away to get grilled up. Then another guy came and explained to me they have always made their fish medium rare. The manager then came back again and told me again that they serve it medium rare (why do I need to be told that 3 different times?). I told her Ive never heard of medium rare fish anywhere. THEN SHE ASKED ME WHERE IM FROM. I replied I was born and raised here. I think she was going to try to explain to me that Canadians have fish medium rare which is obviously not true. At this point, I mentioned while she was here, I wanted to point out that the apple juice listed under the freshly squeezed juices was not in fact freshly squeezed. She said yeah sorry we need to change our menu. and I said yes, because its false advertising and she said well we also have soft drinks listed so obviously not everything there is freshly squeezed. I let her know that was obvious because you cant freshly squeeze coke but you can freshly squeeze apple juice so it needs to be changed. She just smiled and said sorry and left. Looking at other reviews, seems they have done the same to the orange juice You would have thought they would have at least comped the apple juice since they admitted they shouldnt have had it under freshly squeezed but nope. The service here SUCKS. They dont care about the customer experience here. Avoid at all costs. One of the worst experiences Ive ever had in a restaurant.
I ordered food here for the first time ever despite the recent number of negative reviews saying the service and/or food quality has gone down since (someone here mentioned) ownership changes. I had breakfast takeout - eggs, bacon, toast and hash. They prepared it perfectly medium, bacon was medium crisp, hash was SO SO good and their hot sauce which I think is house made was perfection. I drove 10 minutes back to work to sit and eat and everything was still warm. The host/server was kind and took care of me right away. I only take off one star because a very important detail was forgotten in the to go bag- cutlery! All condiments were generously added to the bag except the cutlery was missing. I can t say enough times the annoyance one faces when they order food to go, they get to their destination hungry and ready to eat and cutlery is missed. Where are you going to scramble to look for that when you ve already left the restaurant and there s none around? So, for that I give a 4/5. It won t stop me from giving my business in the future, but judging from everything else I m reading, the inconsistencies just need to be improved because there is a loyal customer base who are used to a certain level of service and care Cant wait to try Hazels Hash next!
We love this local eatery. Super friendly service, simple great food, and generous portions. We re happy regulars.
I ordered the weekend early bird breakfast with coffee. Everything was tasty and the service was very good.
Hazels Diner is a great spot with delicious food and excellent service. The menu offers a variety of tasty options, from classic breakfast staples to unique dishes, ensuring a satisfying meal for all. The staff goes above and beyond to cater to the needs of young children, providing kid-friendly options and customization. The friendly and attentive service adds to the overall pleasant dining experience, making Hazels Diner a highly recommended choice for breakfast. Special shout out to Arif for his very kind service, will definitely be back again!
Hazel s on Yonge was my go to place for breakfast. I went three times after the ownership change, only to experience a consistent decline in food, service and atmosphere. Still the same prices. I will not be returning. Sad to see a business ruined. Today I went to Hazel s on Mount Pleasant, still owned by the original owner. A great experience. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Good food.
So happy with our Sunday brunch experience at this local diner. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was tasty. The prices were fair.
New to the area my fiance and I were looking to try this spot for an authentic diner experience. We were delightfully surprised, from service to food it was all so wonderful. Cant recommend enough from the cozy comfort vibe, person able service and all day breakfast. Really made the day.
Since new ownership food quality has dropped. My sons and I loved going here, but last breakfast was bad. Sausages were terrible, lemonade was sent back as it was undrinkable. No effort by chef especially considering what they are charging for basic eggs, toast and sausage. We miss the old delicious home fries (not dry frozen McCain potato bits). Lets hope they can take it up a notch as we do love this neighborhood diner.
We had a birthday brunch for 18 people. We had a great time! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. All our guests raved about Hazel s. I will go back often. Food
Honestly such an awesome experience. The breakfast was delicious and the service was amazing. Can t wait to come back!
i picked up today from hazels i have not been their in four months the food was beyond excellent the cook deen made the portion so big and the best i ever had their,
Thank you for making the start of a 65th birthday very special!
I forgot to mention my food sensitivity and had to send something back. They remade it and gave a free cappuccino to me and a free tea to my girlfriend on the house. The chef came out from the back to offer it. Amazing the extra effort they put in to ensure customers have a positive experience, even when it was the customers fault.
Comfy and cozy vibes. It was such a sweet diner, and the servers were so kind and attentive! Love the music and the art on the walls too. And the fries are so good!!! My boyfriend had a food intolerance, so when when they accidentally served something he said he couldnt eat, they kindly remade his sandwich and apologized too. Just overall great experience and vibes.
Very very friendly service and extremely good food!
Hazels is a restaurant where we like to meet before art class. We are always greeted with a smile, enjoy the food and the attention we get from the waitress. Hazels is a special place! Today one of us had a birthday and we were surprised by treats. Food
Love our brunch Eggs Natasha Food
Delicious food!, we were surprised by the quantity and mostly by the quality. Wed love to come back
Very nice staff! Food is everything you want for breakfast/lunch at reasonable prices. The house hot sauce is badass
Great breakfast and is one of our usuals. Sometimes a bit of a wait, but worth it. Food
Great food, friendly service, although it gets a bit slow during busy hours. I will definitely go back.
Really nice place, I tried Hazels hash and it was delicious! also friendly staff :)
Short wait for a table, even shorter wait for the food to be cooked. Most delicious brunch Ive been to, to the point where me and my friends all ordered a second dish.
Delicious food and fabulous, friendly service always with a smile
Been coming to hazels for 10+ years and it s delicious every time. They often have a line on weekends but they get through it quickly and it s well worth the wait. They have a variety of options on their menu, friendly and fast service, and a homey atmosphere. Most recently i got bonnie s hash and it was delicious and didn t feel overly greasy or filling. My boyfriend got the truckers special and French toast (you do not need both, he was very hungry) and really liked them both. I recommend this breakfast diner to friends regularly!
I went this morning for Valentine s Day, got there a few minutes before 8am. Door was locked, someone was inside but they ignored us. We waited until a few minutes after 8am, door still not open. So we left, bad first impression, will not return.
The food is so delicious and service is great. Paulina is the best!
Good food, decent price, great service!
The brunch menu fills up your stomach. The staff is good.
Love the food here, always top-notch. Staff are incredible, from the servers to the kitchen, always pleasant, caring and clean! Menu has options for everyone, you can try something new every time. Hazels Hash with a draught Steam Whistle or mimosas is a perfect start to Sunday. Shoutout to Joe in the back, what an exceptional and friendly chef!
Overall was a good experience, the lady was friendly, we had the trucker breakfast, it was enough to share for two , the coffee cups are a little bit smaller than other stores , but it was ok . Price was reasonable for what you get . Food
very very perfect food everything is perfect customer service is very perfect atmosphere perfect price very good
Food was delicious, very busy.
Lovely little place. Breakfast was delicious and servers were nice. Its a busy restaurant but we were lucky to find a spot.
Always a great breakfast at Hazels
perfect service and foods
Been a customer for 2-3 years. Used to be a place with great quality breakfast and top notch service. Over the years the quality of the service has reduced. Most recently the food quality has dropped too, which is very unfortunate. hopefully things bounce back.
If youre in the neighborhood this place is OK. If youre not in the neighborhood, IMO its not worth the trip. Hubby and I just came back from breakfast. The waitress was great. The coffee was horrible. My partly burnt toast was incredibly dry. The hashbrowns and eggs were just ok. I personally would not want to return. The hubby said he would return (even though he found his breakfast too salty).
Incredibly delicious place and every time everything was very tasty! Service is fast, staff is good, prices are great! I advise you to visit Food : 5/5
Really nice first-time visit here. The sandwich clubs are amazing. If you are hungry, this place will be a great fit.
Great breakfast place
This place used to be great I was highly disappointed they are using the same menu and same picture of the old owners of the restaurant it s new owners and staff and this place is nothing like it used to be the pancakes suck the bacon sucks the sausage sucks .
This place has gone down over the years, Ive been coming here for over 10 years. Its warm and sticky inside and the Flys keep swarming the table and landing on my food. My whole breakfast is over cooked, burnt pancakes and toast. Over cooked eggs. Frozen potatoes instead of the Home fries that they use to serve. The Frozen potatoes are also pan fried in peppers and onions that give them a sour taste. This is the last time I come back here, not worth the price I paid
I will preface this with saying it was semi-busy when we came. Maybe 3 tables and by the time we left it was full. Having said that, no excuse for the terrible service. I asked for water 3 times from different servers and never got it. Took 30 minutes to even get a coffee/tea (they didn t bring the water even though I asked at the same time). Took almost 50 minutes for food, brought the order wrong but we didn t send it back as we knew it was take too long. Took us another 40 minutes to flag someone down for the bill and another 20 until they actually gave us the bill. Food was decent, probably a nice spot if it s quiet but overall no one from my party was impressed by the service and will not be returning.
Just spent $20 on a truckers breakfast hold the pancakes for takeout and the meal subpar. The beans taste like theyve gone rancid. The sausage is extremely overcooked/dried and the rye toast is basically bread (undercooked). Its breakfast. How hard is it to put some passion into your work?
Hazels was a favourite neighbourhood breakfast spot...I went today with a friend an was embarrassed. It took a long time for someone to wait on us and an even longer time to be served ...a standard breakfast. Both our orders were incorrect, from our sides to how we wanted our eggs cooked. And no one came around to offer more coffee. Aside from this, they have made a change from real fried potatoes with onions to the frozen cubed potatoes and their sausages; very disappointing. Had this been my 1st time there, I would not recommend and/or go back.
Consistent not open when it claims to be.
I d rather message the owner than go this route as we ve enjoyed Hazels for years and are local residents. My wife and I, with our 3 year old little girl, arrived Saturday morning at 8:15(posted hours are 8 AM open) to find the door locked. Knocked and the female server looked at us from the back of the restaurant and shook her finger. Didn t bother to come to the door, offer any explanation, etc. My wife called (while the server is still looking at us) to see what the issue was. Still standing at the back of the restaurant she said there was a problem with the kitchen. Fair enough, but to not post a basic handwritten note to that effect and to effectively ignore a family with a young child during your open hours rather than walking to the door to explain is a great way to lose customers to diners (Homeway on Mt. Pleasant, Uncle Betty s south on Yonge, etc.) that understand basic tenets of the service industry.
New Owner, THE WORST EXPERIENCE Had to give it 1 star otherwise I couldnt post but honestly, its negative 100... Hazels on Yonge: This USED to be our neighbourhood go-to. Great service, wonderful atmosphere and the best kitchen. This is the place where everyone knows your name...the neighbourhood local. A lovely wait staff and swift, efficient, delicious food from the kitchen. NOT ANY LONGER. New owner and the worst wait staff. 30 minutes waiting for breakfast. When it came, the pancakes were uncooked, eggs benny hard as a rock. The plates were practically thrown on the table by an inexperienced server. When I said excuse me, wanting to return my pancakes to the kitchen, she responded with, Yeah? Yeah? Seriously? The owner replaced my pancakes that took an additional 5 minutes but meanwhile, back on the plate, the eggs were cold. New owners renovated to accommodate more patrons but they have the worst service so theres no point. I actually watched the owner ask a table of 3, including an elderly woman with a cane, to switch seats to accommodate a large party. Dont go. Youll be waiting for your food forever and when it arrives, it will be horrible. There was obviously no transitional training. They do not know their patrons and it seems like they do not care. Absolutely horrible. NOT RETURNING, EVER. BYE BYE.
New ownership is BRUTAL. Have been going to this place forever and the service and quality has gone down immensely. What used to be fresh homefries are now frozen bits. Fruit is old and sloppy. Eggs are not cooked properly. Waffles are poorly made and stale. Syrup is cheap and comes in packets. Unimaginably disappointed, avoid at all costs.
First time back since new ownership took over. Food is worse, service is worse, space is totally crammed. Had to get up from our table to let other people sit down at a different table. Won t be going back.
Great service. Food was fantastic and quick. I was in and out in 30min! Nice little mom and pop place. Highly recommend.
Service was brutal - . Prices were way too much for what we got. Forgot about a requested food allergy - good took almost an hour for eggs and omelette We will not be back ever Food
New ownership, theyve wrecked everything. Why you would buy a sucessful business and then destroy what made said business sucessful is an absolute mystery to me. The disgusting frozen potato bits which have replaced the lovely home fries is the worst of many examples of the decline in the quality of the food. The orange juice is now concentrated, but they are still charging what they charged for the fresh-squeezed OJ. Even the coffee is gone down, evidenced by the fact that the chef was drinking coffee from Tim Hortons. The service is poor, and they have shoved too many tables and seats into the space, which makes the service issues even worse. FFS, even the music was too loud. AVOID! Such a shame.
New ownership has turned a once beloved and fantastic brunch into a chaotic and unsatisfactory dining experience. From poorly reconfigured seating to cram in many people as humanly possible, to long wait times and awkward service. The most disappointing aspect, sadly, was the food. The much-loved homesfries have been replaced with tasteless and dried out commercial potato nibblers. Omelette lacked flavour and was undercooked. Instead of the large glass of freshly squeezed orange juice weve come to adore, we were served a watered down, pulp-less orange drink that had suffered from shrinkflation. I would give this place a wide berth if you value your hard-earned money and taste buds.
TLDR: Food was 10/10 but O.M.G. the service was so bad. The food was NOT worth the hour-long wait. Tables who ordered after us were done eating by the time we got our food. We came in 2 Sundays ago. Was seated fairly quickly and ordered within 10 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, our server comes over and asks us to remind her of what we ordered. At this point we were quite certain she forgot to put our order in and was trying to find the page in her notebook. After reminding her of our order, I asked her if the order had been placed already and she hesitatingly said yes. By this point, 2 other tables who came and ordered after us had already gotten their food. We waited another 15 minutes, still no food. So we asked her again if she really did put the order in the first time and she insisted she did. I then asked her to bring me my toast first and she seemed confused. My friend explained to her that I wasnt feeling well and needed some food so if we could get the toast first thatd be great. She was still confused. After our party of 3 explained our simple request to her 4 times, she asked me to confirm if I WANTED the rest of my meal LATER and the toast first. I explained to her I dont WANT my food later, I wanted it all together asap, but since it didnt seem like I was going to get my food anytime soon and I wasnt feeling well, then give me the toast first. She went back to the kitchen and ...surprise surprise, didnt bring me anything. She ended up giving us all our food another 15 minutes later, so basically an hour after we ordered. The funniest part was that my meal was MISSING TOAST. How did me asking her to bring the toast first turn into cancel the toast??!? I had to ask the manager to bring me toast. The whole time the manager guy kept walking around and made eye contact with me multiple times and must have noticed that our table looked irritated, and WITHOUT FOOD for an hour, and not once did he come to check up on us. Oh and also, there were fruit-flies zipping around us while we ate which was quite disgusting. So 0 for atmosphere and -10 for service if I could give any lower than a 0. I wouldnt come back here even if food was free. Definitely not worth the wait and frustration
Great local diner with friendly staff. Food was great and with generous portions.
New owners, great food. Impeccable service and so very kind. Give them a try, worth every penny.
Hazel s has been a usual brunch spot since I moved to the neighbourhood a few years ago. I was there this morning, and had the pleasure of meeting the new owners. They were so unbelievably kind and generous. We spoke with them for a while, and they told us about the new dinner menu they re about to launch. It looks fantastic and I can t wait to give it a try. We were with an infant, and they brought us a special treat for her, in addition to other complimentary items. Our breakfast was wonderful, however, it was the service that makes this place extra special. I wish the new owners all the very best. If you re looking for a nice, family-friendly spot with delicious and reasonably priced food, you can t beat Hazel s. I implore everyone to give it a try. You won t be disappointed.
I agree with the recent reviews. Used to me my favorite place for breakfast with their eggs Natasha . No longer. Opens late, coffee not ready, and food arrives cold. May be reheated from the day before!! Too bad they changed owners. Downgraded from 5 stars to one star.
Healthy, tasty food. Friendly, prompt service. Ill be back.
The service was slow and the French toast was not warm enough. Servers were pleasant - it seems the problem is in the kitchen. I looked at their proposed dinner menu - pretty ambitious if they re going for an all-day diner concept.
Really really bad. Would avoid at all costs and do not waste your money. Trust me when I say that anyone on this site who claims that the new ownership is anything other than horrific is either delusional or, most likely, an employee of Hazel s. It is unfortunate that what was once my go to brunch spot is now a shrine dedicated to serving cheap and tasteless cardboard. Everything from the home fries to the pancakes and even the maple syrup has all gone down immensely in quality. Waitresses are not friendly and cheerful like the old staff and seating was crammed. On the bright side i have now found solace in the far superior Cafe Landwer on Avenue road as it has helped alleviate the bitter taste left in my mouth by Hazel s. Would highly recommend to all dissatisfied Hazel s customers. Hopefully the old owners come out of retirement soon to help restore this once fabulous diner to its former glory.
Good food and very nice staff. Just be aware breakfast prices are higher here than compared to most diners.
Oh dear. The comfy diner know as Hazels is no more. The snugly booths are ripped out in favor of wobbly and too closely spaced tables. The food is not the same either. Its off. Too bad. Oh well. To Mars! and beyond!
Great service, fresh food and generous portions.
Breakfast was tasty and portioned well. The host was personable and made me feel welcomed. I looked forward to coming back.
Caker all the way. The wait staff is always amazing. Its our family weekend brunch spot.
The staff was super helpful, the chef was very accommodating and the food was great!
Warm and friendly service! Ordered the daily special they recommended and the Hazel s hash and they were both very good! Got a chocolate milkshake as well, delicious but a bit overpriced for its size, still worth a try though. Overall it was a great experience but i think this restaurant should be in the $$ category.
Hazel Hash was awesome
Food was okay. needs better presentation but prices was great. Long wait on Sundays. Today Saturday it was full at 1pm.
Fabulous all day breakfast and very fair prices. Great service too!
What a fantastic breakfast! I want to go back again soon
Always a great vibe and service by everyone working there, especially if you visit on Saturdays! Delicious filling food that makes you want more and restaurant staff that make the experience worth the visit!
Solid old school breakfast.
Large portions. Left very full
Solid menu, generous serving family feel restaurant.
Good place with good atmosphere. Waitresses were very attentive and kind making the changes that we asked for.
Absolutely awsome food! Portions are a nice size. The food is fresh and the service is amazing. The Caker is a must try if you like eggs, bacon cheese and inside of a pancake..its AMAZING!! The burgers are really good. 7oz homemade. The have fresh orange juice and their coffee is good. This is definitely my new favourite place . I forgot to take photos but I will next time.
I just had pancakes here, so thats really all Im rating. They werent the best Ive had in town but far from the worst. Extra star for friendly and attentive staff.
First time I went to Hazels Diner today, as I had a craving for a Club Sandwich for some reason. I ordered a Club Sandwich with Fries to go. All I have to say is . . . Wowwwww!! It was one of the best Club Sandwiches that I ever had! Portions were huge, and the home cut fries were absolutely delicious! The staff were awesome, so friendly and courteous, with a splash of humour on the side! I cant wait to go again! Kudos to Hazels Diner and the staff! You are fantastic! Great job indeed!!
Portions could be bigger but delicious nonetheless
Great food for a reasonable price
Good food. I bit pricy for a diner.
The servers were very nice but seemed like they were under a tremendous amount of stress from the manager. Too tense of an environment to enjoy your breakfast. Hey Jason Thanks for taking the time to post this review . Having pressure is a fact of life unfortunately .and the pressure is generally put on us by customers who are impatient and don t understand food needs time to cook. Then we have what s called the ripple effect Everyone feels the pressure. I m sure you ve had pressure at your work environment. It s unfortunate todays outing was so stressful that you felt you had to post, I hope you have a stress free week - that should be your motto come eat breakfast where everyone feels the pressure lol
Friendly service, great coffee & good food. Met friends for breakfast here & we all enjoyed our meals. Pancakes were big & fluffy & served with 100% maple syrup.
This place never disappoints. Always welcomed by the friendly staff and the food is always delicious.
First time there for breakfast. Very disappointed. We were looking for a new Sunday breakfast place as we just moved into the neighborhood from Yonge and Eg. Place is gloomy inside and there were a lot of flies in there - which tends to be a red flag for restaurants. We kept chasing them away for the whole meal. Staff is friendly (hence the 2 stars) Got egg Benedict s. Eggs were nicely cooked but home fries were closer to being boiled that fried, had frozen salmon (very watery and salty as a result ). Way overpriced compared to other local diners where food is not only cheaper but even better. If the food was great, then yes you would pay for quality, but it s not the case here :(
Fantastic service, great food. Sundays are for Hazels.
Lovely place with large portions. There was a great selection of food and it came in a timely manner.
We ordered our food, waited 45 minutes with our 3 small kids, and no food came so we left.
Great service but the food is not worth the price. I find it a tad expensive for the quality of food you get
Lovely place to catch an all day breakfast before 11 am Parking: Street parking available.
Wanted to give them a good review but. Staff is friendly but the food is way over priced, a bit bland and simple. Paid $50+ for two breakfast dishes and tea. Edit - while I understand inflation that doesnt make up for the fairly bland food and little effort in presentation. I appreciate your reply, but blaming inflation for mediocre food isnt a good look. If you want to charge that amount, more effort needs to be put into the preparation and presentation.
A good breakfast diner. I had the Hazel hash and will definitely recommend it. Nice and fresh tasting, a good mix with the over easy eggs I had. Not too greasy and very filling. Good service, and a nice clean place. The only slight criticism I have is it is on the pricier side. But it is a diner so nothing extravagantly priced. It is reasonable.
Came in, were seated right away then ignored while 2 other tables were seated and served around us. Finally flagged someone down, but she was the only person waiting all the tables in the restaurant. This wasnt fair to her, but the owners should schedule better on a Saturday. Food was great and once the waitress came by, service was good. We went to the Yonge St location.
Expensive and super tiny portion size. I felt ripped off.
Staff were super nice and friendly and food quality was great.
My friend took me for a birthday lunch and we enjoyed a fantastic meal at Hazels. My Cobb salad was delicious and the service by Laaren was excellent. The patio is also very nicely covered and comfortable to eat on.
I got the eggs Benny here and it was excellent. Sue was a very attentive and helpful waitress and the service was very prompt.
I had an amazing experience here. Sue was very welcoming and kind. The service was prompt and the food was delicious.
Sue and Laaren are both very knowledgeable of the menu and experts at their craft! Brunch came quickly and was hot. Would highly recommend this place.
Always a great breakfast. Perfect eggs and bacon. Have been going for years. Friendly and helpful staff.
Food was really good. My rosti was very crispy. Highly recommend the strawberry milkshake.
The worst egg Benedict I ve ever had! I only had two bites and couldn t eat more. Hollandaise sauce has absolutely no flavour and they didn t even bother to put paprika powder or chives on top. Eggs was over cooked(not runny at all) had to ask for new one. Mimosa was good and the server was busy but nice. Overall the food has no flavour and very mediocre. Will never go back :)))
I got a chocolate milkshake and the Caker and my significant other got the Truckers Special. Both were great in terms of quality and quantity. Despite being the only waiter there, Laaren was excellent. Very kind, helpful and made sure we enjoyed our meals.
Food and service was amazing!!
Great family place. Brunch and breakfast really good
2 rating represents the only positive part of this experience, referring directly to the pleasant server who suffered my criticism Why do low? Simple...ordered over easy, well done toast buttered, crispy bacon. Result: over med-hard, cold (and I mean cold) potatoes, soggy bacon only half cooked, everything on one plate, luke warm coffee, tap water. Criticism:excuses offered for new cook, plate returned a 2nd time with more home fries on top of the doggy bacon (yes, soggy the 2nd time), toast with a dab of butter in the center (more like dry toast), eggs were much better 2nd time. Sorry guys but breakfast is my feel-good meal if the day. And whats with the 1st question on the Covid declaration? I added a photo. Cost (with taxes, tip, and parking) = $18.56
Headed there for brunch yesterday. The staff were awesome. So friendly which is always nice. The menu had lots to choose from and when we got our food the portions were big, and delicious. Will definitely go back again.
Waitress was on pointttttttt! Made the experience 10x better
Always a great place to have breakfast/lunch, snack, etc. I ve been coming here with family for 10 years plus and highly recommend!!
My go-to spot when I crave a traditional diner experience. Their seasonal pumpkin spice pancakes are a must to try, and their eggs Benedict never disappoint (although I suggest ordering a side since they re not super filling).
Food was so good, and the service was excellent!
One of the best brunch spots I ve been to! Our server was a gem - Barbra , so sweet and made the experience so awesome. The food was so scrumptious and savoury !!! Best pancakes ever, and their coffee was SO good! Will definitely be coming back ! Thank you for such a lovely brunch experience !
A not so bad experience at this breakfast place. Coffee is good too.
Brunch menu is extensive. The food was delicious.
Fantastic place very welcoming Aim to please wonderful place to eat and spend time with family and friends
Enjoyed a great brunch, and its so nice to be able to just go to a restaurant again!
Great Reuben
Cute restaurant. Amazing staff. Unfortunately I did not enjoy my meal.
The food was excellent! We had the Clubhouse sandwich and Hazels Hash (which features Chorizo sausage). The service was top notch as well. I would highly recommend going.
This restaurant/diner is only 15 years old and you would think your grandparents hung here! It s super diner feeling with weird lights, even a chandelier! The staff are amazing. They know everyone by name and order. They even know the Friday crowd from the Tuesday one! The food is super excellent. No cheap diner food here. Everything is scratch made even their hollandaise. I can t wait for another breakfast here. Please follow @joannasable on instagram for more food and travel fun
Good food, geat service. Only negative is they dont accept credit cards.
The food was outstanding Its my first time but very happy
Excellent spot for breakfast. Loads of options including some very healthy choices.
An excellent breakfast. Not very busy on a 9am Saturday morning
Tasty food, fun specials (the berry french toast is so good right now!), and such wonderful service! Gets super busy closer to 10, but opens early so take advantage!
Good food and friendly service.
Cosy place and lovely food
Excellent service and yummy food. I had the waffle with blueberries and bananas and it was delicious!
Great breakfast diner.
Great staff. Great food.
Well you know the place was packed I couldnt believe it.. the REAL FOOD is good,.. COFFEE is good. You get Big Portion of the food you Ordered.. and I Left a TIP!!!
Good food, reasonable prices, and pleasant service, overall a great experience.
Great $11 breakfast special; bottomless coffee; warm, friendly and prompt service. I come here often
Great food at a decent price, and the staff were helpful with making suggestions and helping with substitutions.
Classic old breakfast diner in uptown toronto. Love the atmosphere. Brunch gets packed in there pretty quickly. The specials on the board are based on what they get locally that week which is great cause you know its not stale food. The rest of the menu is pretty great too. Low key and great to head out to after a busy night out.
One of our favorite breakfast places in Toronto is open again!! Favorite meal is TPA. Thanks for all your good food and awesome wholesome service. Grateful
We take out from here often, sometimes eat in. Food, service is amazing. I want the recipe of their pancakes! So good!
Great breakfast, friendly service ... Nice to dine-in again ... welcome back Hazels!
This is a go-to breakfast joint. Go with the Truckers Special if you have a big appetite!
My favourite diner in the neighbourhood. Please support local! Especially during COVID as they are working hard to serve as many people as possible, as safely as possible. Be patient and enjoy! It s worth the wait.
The man at the desk was really nice! He listened to everything I wanted and the food tastes amazing !!
Went here with a couple friends to celebrate a birthday. It was really homey, clean and welcoming. The service was amazing, and I almost got jokingly roped in to mopping the floor. If Im in the area I would def come again.
Great food
Love this place!! Recently just moved to the area and absolutely fell in LOVE with the tuna melt!! I cant wait to be back once service resumes. :)
Terrific food, service, and big part of Toronto!
Excelent food and healthy options.
Delicious food, attentive staff, and great price
Great service, yummy comfort food, cozy atmosphere! Tuna melt with home fries was delicious!!! They use the most delicious, fresh bread, baked by a local bakery, fresh daily! Its the little things that make this place special!
