Had such a good experience here. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing. They are so attentive and kind. Highly recommend the borek platter. Could have used a bit more salt, but otherwise everything was super tasty and good quality. Do not leave without trying the kunafah, it s incredible.

Very overpriced and lacking service. The 8 dollar apple tea we got taste like water. Our wrap platter came without fries, we had to ask for it for the kitchen to cook it. Portion also felt pretty small for the price you pay. When we sat down, staff did not offer us menus (left on another table next to us) or water, we had to ask for water and grab the menu ourselves.

yes i am visiting this place often because it is close to my school and i like Turkish food . but today i get disappointed by dishonesty of worker there who is lady who charged me for second glass of tea when in paper menu clearly shows 2 teas included with 1 person breakfast . more over last month i had same order with unlimited tea , but she lied to me by saying that only if order for 2 people have that condition. I was not arguing because do not want spoiled my appetite and i do not care about that they charging extra money for tea . Just i dont like that she is fooling me

So the waiter who helped me with gorgeous orange hair and beautiful smile was especially kind and made me feel really welcome. It s rare to find a place where the service is as genuine and friendly as it is here. She was so kind and wanted to make sure everything is okay. Kunefe and service was extremely nice! I got here for a small group meet-up and was so happy with their services. They make sure they explain what you need to know about their service before anything so things will be clear for guests. Loved their latte, the only thing I ordered.

They are very, very unreasonable and unfair in charging $7 for a small shot of Turkish coffee that was boiled and the simit bread was very old and they insist on tipping when tipping is optional and they have very poor service....... I will not be back......

They are not good. They do not bring the order at time , they let me wait 45 minutes, and they didnt bring it. They served the people came after me, before me. I don t recommend it.

The manager, Meral, displays extremely rude and arrogant behavior. It seems clear that both the servers and customers are uncomfortable with her actions. She frequently yells at the staff and seems to act as if she is superior to everyone else. From what I ve observed, her treatment of employees considered workplace harassment and mobbing, which is illegal. Additionally, it seems like management is mishandling the servers tips. If you plan to tip, I would recommend doing so in cash rather than by card. I intend to report this situation to the Ministry of Labour. I personally won t be returning until she is removed from her position. Many other negative reviews also seem to focus on Meral s troubling and unprofessional behavior. Overall, Id come again if the manager is fired. Kid-friendliness: Not friendly for kids at all, the managers behaviors towards my kids was creepy...

I recently visited [Mado resturant Donmills] with high hopes, but unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by an overpowering smell of something burning. It was so intense that it made it difficult to breathe and truly enjoy the dining atmosphere. Despite the enticing menu, the lingering odor overshadowed any potential delight in the food. It felt as though the restaurant was unable to manage their kitchen properly, which is concerning for any establishment that values its customers. I tried to focus on the meal, but the unpleasant smell kept distracting me. It was a shame because the staff were friendly and attentive, and the ambiance had potential. However, the burning smell was a significant deterrent that would make me think twice about returning. Overall, I was disappointed by my experience at [ resturant Mado]. I hope they can address this issue, as it has the potential to ruin what could be a fantastic dining experience.

The desserts we bought were not bad, but I think there were some administrative problems. The manager a woman or the chef I dont know who she is anymore was very rude to the employees. Thats why I think its the manager, but it really bothered me a lot. In general, the location is nice, the employees are polite, the desserts are not bad, of course they are not as good as what we eat in Turkey, but there is nothing to do.

The manager of the place keeps yelling at staff members and treats them like peasants. It is very disgraceful to see such bad treatment to employees in a country like Canada. She should get fired immediately and must be reported to the Ministry of Labour. Where does she get this audacity to do such things here. The server was really sweet, he took care of us really well. Felt like at home but definitely irritated by the manager s behaviour.

The number of shifts varies from no days off to no working hours at all. Underpayments and regular delays in salary payments. Scammers!!!

Strange distribution of food among the grand breakfast for 2 ordered. No choice was offered on the kind of Eggs for the order. The eggs were served in miniwoks stuck to the bottom and overcooked. One set of eggs had sujuk(a kind of dry and fermented sausage) the other didn t. The bread served was only 3 for 4 people. Overall a great disappointment for the price $49.99 +for 2 people. Parking: Difficult to find parking in the multi storied parking lot. Not all exits have elevators and need to walk to the restaurant.

Review of MADO The Shops at Don Mills I made a reservation at MADO for November 17, 2024, to celebrate my mother s birthday with a party of 10. While everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, the experience was marred by poor communication and an awkward situation regarding their cake fee policy. When I arrived with a cake, the manager immediately took it without mentioning any fee. It wasn t until I browsed the menu that I noticed the policy listed at the very end, stating a $19.99 cake fee. This was my first time learning about it, and I found the lack of upfront clarity frustrating. When I asked about the policy, the waiter explained that we could either have the cake cut for the fee or not use it. I requested the cake back without having it cut, but the manager came to our table to explain the fee instead of resolving the matter quietly as I had asked. This interaction was uncomfortable and felt disrespectful, especially since our party was the largest in the restaurant and had ordered generously. The mishandling of this situation soured what should have been a joyous celebration. A simple explanation of the policy when the reservation was made or when we arrived could have prevented this entirely. Instead, the lack of transparency and the manager s approach left a bad impression. Ultimately, we left with a cake that wasn t cut or shared, and the experience felt unnecessarily stressful. While the food was good, the poor communication and customer service have ensured that I won t return to MADO. With better management and clarity, this could have been a much more pleasant experience.

The Sunday we went the brunch was Amazing!! Food was plentiful and fresh. Delicious! The coffee ordered separately was made on point and very good! One minor challenge: sitting outside at CfDonMills you always get attacked by wasps! Staff were great and welcoming and super helpful!

The location is decent and clean, but the same cannot be said for the service and desserts. When we asked the waiters to turn on the heater, they said it wasnt working, did not provide an opportunity, and left us saying we can take you to another table, etc. Unfortunately, the lack of Turkish delights that come with the latte and the fact that the latte is served overflowing from the glasses is a negative point. I definitely do not recommend this location

We were regular here since it launched in this location. Now I think the chef has changed. Our experience has been terrible. Before I could talk to the manager, and now he is not at the store anymore to attend to concerns. Me and my wife we ordered the pizza which we always do and it was so dry, and the pic here of a soufle sweet we always ordered was terrible, it was not cooked and the cake was still doughy and the presentation was terrible !!! The waiter blamed the head office management that delivers it to the store saying they don t have control over these things. If this review goes down the list I will repost again

A bright space in Don Mills. For brunch we ordered the buffet breakfast which was very unique and interesting. I also had a goat milk ice cream cone beforehand. The service is very good and the host (or owner?) was a very delightful and thankful lady.

The cafe offers a nice atmosphere, with exceptional food and dedicated staff who clearly work hard. However, my experience was marred by serious concerns about management. It s disheartening to see such hardworking employees being mistreated by a manager who appears unprofessional and ineffective. In a particularly troubling incident, this manager displayed racist behavior, insulting staff in response to criticism about the food, believing no one could hear her. It s sad to witness such a negative influence overshadow the efforts of a talented team. Overall, the cafe has great potential, but the management needs significant improvement.

I went there with my family and had a lovely time. The food was great, and the workers were super pleasant! Meral and her colleagues provided us a lovely service, and always had a smile on their faces. Very bad service, manager kept claiming they have missing staff but that s not how you gove excuse to be rude and ignore us for around 40 minutes and the food didnt come so we left, we had 2 tea and orange juice that we didn t even finish which we paid fully, at least they should tell us it s fine no need to pay as we didnt finish drink them all and instead they made us still pay for the drinks and we left without eating. Last time to visit this place.

Not very impressed by this location

This is my second time coming at Mados and the desserts never disappoint. I had the Magnolia-Strawberry for the second time and its really good! Emre was the one who served us and he was really kind. He kept on checking us if how were doing. Will definitely visit again!

Finally got to try this place for a little breakfast. Turkish coffee is a huge draw for me, and this was totally worth it! I had some tasty sausage, but I m not sure it was fully worth the price. I m going to go again to try other items.

We were 3 people and paid $25 each and the portions they gave us was equal to 3 appetizers. The food was also not that tasty compared to other Turkish cuisine.

It s nice sitting at Don Mills Shops, the waiters are friendly. However the portions of food for the cost is a joke. Also it wasn t even that tasty. I got like 6 Beyti kebabs, and i m saying 6 because they cut the portions so bite sized to fill the plate to make it look like more food, for $30. and the lahmachun was like a weird cheese meat pizza that wasn t even Turkish tasting like other restaurant in Scarborough or Mississagua. I won t be coming back.

The service was really unprofessional. They didn t provide the bill details upfront. After we paid and asked to see the bill, they said there was no way to show it in the store and that they could only send it by email. We left the store, but we never received the email. When you ask for service, they say give me a minute, but even after three minutes, they still haven t come to help. Meanwhile, they are chatting inside the store.

With the idea that their offerings were nice, I went to the cafe but left disappointed. Despite ordering regular baklava, a different type of baklava was served. I didn t want to send the product back and started eating, but when I realized that the baklava was just hot dough, I called the waiter. The waiter said that they had run out of regular baklava and that s why my order was changed. It was changed without my consent, but the products served were at least 15 days old. When I told the waiter that the baklavas were stale, he admitted it and offered to bring carrot slice baklava instead of öbiyet. I accepted his offer, but that product was stale too. Heating your products in the microwave before serving them to customers doesn t change anything. If your product is bad, why do you still try to serve it to customers? I will never go to this restaurant again.

The outdoor patio is really nice ! Maybe should have went for coffee and desert instead of dinner. The prices are pretty high for such small food dishes. We all left hungry after ordering full meals. Nothing special about the food pretty average. The deserts baklava with ice cream was not that great either to be fair. I had a mixed experience at the restaurant. While the servers were kind and the menu was adequate, the rudeness of the manager and the issue with order clearly affected our day. Turkish vanilla ice cream made with goat milk was awesome!!! The ice cream had that good vanilla flavour and velvety texture. Would definitely recommend :) Heads up the Turkish ice cream man will playfully pretend to give you the ice cream, only to pull it away from you the last moment. Would recommend to video tape it since it s funny to see if you can beat the ice cream man in his last minute ice cream pulling away tricks :)

It was my first time here. The restaurant overlooks the square. I had the baklava, and it was sooooo good. Three pieces for $11. The service was great and friendly. I will go back to try the Turkish coffee and have some more baklava! Nice place to meet with friends and enjoy the patio.

We eat Turkish specialties correctly. The location is central. The service could be better.

First impression always matters. Unfortunately neither was I welcomed by the server, but more so rushed by him to place an order, that too before even taking a seat or even a minute going by. The least you could do is give me and my three friends,10 mintues to glance through the menu. No recommendation was made if we would like drinks or just plain water. It almost felt like we had to make the effort to get the food and drinks. Desert was really good. Main course was okay. I asked for jalapeños, (given that other turkish restaurants generously serve it) but instead was given a brief lecture, of how its not part of a turkish culture. Clearly, this experience left a bitter taste. Didnt catch the name of the server but he had his hair tied to the back like a ponytail. I tip generously, but unfortunately didnt this time. Im really upset with his attitude and the overall experience on Friday night Aug 02. Hope it gets better in the future.

I have tried other Mado locations and never had an issue. Went in on Saturday night of a long weekend recently and ordered pistachio baklava. Guess what- found a quarter an inch long hair stuck in the sugar syrup. Quietly and quickly (didn t even thought of taking a picture, that quick) told the staff to not draw unnecessary attention as the place was packed. Big mistake. Instead of offering proper apologies, a replacement was given which I wasn t sure if I wanted to eat. I always enjoyed dining at Mado but now I am really unsure especially how seriously the staff took the hair incident. Mado: Do better

5 of us had brunch here. We ordered 2 orders of the platter for two as we don t eat much (so essentially food for 4 people to share between 5). The waiter came back and said management s policy is that if we are 5 people we have to order enough dishes for 5 people. This is the most ridiculous policy and worst customer service any of us have experience at a restaurant. We have ordered to share at many many restaurants and have never been told each person has to order their own dish. We gave them this feedback and they didn t seem to care. We ordered our additional dish and ended up wasting so much food which is such a shame. I certainly won t be returning given this ridiculous management policy. The manager is so arrogant and thinks she s better than the rest of the staff. She talks to them with a disrespectful tone and constantly belittles them in front of customers. I will not return to this location until the manager is no longer employed

Turkeish dessert store at Lawrence and Don Mills, other than the turkeish style dessert, most unique item is the turkeish icecream which is made by goats milk. So do not be surprised if the texture is different than regular icecream.

The Mado buffet for two people was great! An amazing variety of food and taste. The service was also great and the wait staff were very attentive and fast. Our waiter dogukan was the best!

Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced!!!! Been sitting there for 15 minutes no one came to serve!! I will never go back!

Expensive for no reason ! Breakfast which I ordered it was menemen ,fried eggs mixed with tomato ,more tomato than eggs price $ 16.95 per person and when you scan for menu you see the picture with cheese on top , there was nothing like that and then I want yo see the desserts that they had into the vitrina , the cashier very rude said: sat down to your table they will take your order ! I wait another hour when finally somebody came by and when I scan and I told the server what I want he said : we don t have it in the menu ! That was San Sebastián cheese cake ! Wherever they have you cannot order because with something they are coming up ! Latte cold ! Slow service and rude employees ! Never ever again ! And if you are the owner and you don t see the reviews you should check your cameras to see people don t lie ! Even like that I left them tip 15% they don t deserve it

Quite possibly some of the worst food I have ever eaten. Ordered an Adana kebab wrap. What I got was a floppy oily wrap with meat that tasted like nothing and a handful of fries on the side. I was already hesitant coming here and my meal validate why. Avoid this sorry excuse of a Turkish restaurant at all costs.

I had an opportunity to have breakfast buffet with a friend of mine. She recommended this place and hands down it is an awesome place to try out. Initially I thought it was a buffet as it indicated breakfast buffet , but per one of the most beautiful gorgeous and pleasant employee Meral s help I understood it was a variety of dishes so apparently it was baked as breakfast buffet ; luxury breakfast . Meral was so sweet she checked on me and my friend during our entire visit, she was courteous and never got stopped smiling and replenished our tea cups which was indeed unlimited and their bread. The dishes provided in the breakfast was like walking into authentic Turkish eateries !!! I can t stop raving about the food and the customer service and the way they make people welcomed as soon as they walk in!! I would definitely visit this place again and again !!! And recommend to my friends and families to try our best food in town !!! Once again thanks to Meral for her lovely hospitality skills !!!

Great atmosphere and food, rather authentic. However portions are kind of small for the price. The restaurant charges an automatic 15%. And then you need to tip on top of that. Portions were extremely small, our food didn t come out all at once. One had to wait an extra 15 minutes! Chicken Parma was dry, they forgot my tortillas for the fajitas and the service was slow. And they serve Costco fries!!!! Asked for the bill and only got the total amount, the waiter was annoyed with us asking for our bill! Sorry, but this is not right. Won t be back

Horrible tasteless food, this is definitely not traditional Turkish food

I recently visited this well-known spot in Toronto to try their baklava and ice cream, given its renowned reputation in Turkey. While the ice cream did not disappoint and matched the authentic taste I remember from Turkey, the baklava fell short of my expectations. The syrup was overwhelming, and the baklava did not seem fresh. Despite trying two different types, both lacked the crispness and freshness one would expect, leading me to believe they had been on display for at least 3-4 days. I truly wanted to enjoy the baklava here, but unfortunately, it was a letdown.

I recently dined at a restaurant where the managers behavior left a sour taste in my mouth. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the manager was rude and disrespectful towards her staff. She barked orders at them, spoke to them condescendingly, and openly criticized them in front of customers. Her behavior created a tense and uncomfortable atmosphere in the restaurant, and it was clear that both the staff and customers were unhappy. Its a shame, because the food was actually quite good, but the managers behavior overshadowed any positive aspects of the dining experience. At the end, I left the restaurant feeling disappointed and disrespected. I will not be returning, and I would caution others against dining there as long as this manager remains in charge. No amount of good food can make up for such disrespectful and unprofessional behavior.

The meat is tender and juicy, and the sauce is very authentic. The grilled meat is served with rice and vegetables, making it a great meal. Every bite is full of satisfaction, and I highly recommend it to all kebab lovers out there. Carrot Slice Baklava with Ice Cream: This dessert is amazing! The cake has distinct layers, and the texture is similar to honeycomb cake. Its sweet but not too sweet. Served with ice cream, its refreshingly cold, making it a great summer dessert choice. I could eat another serving after finishing this one! Various Small Cakes: MADOs selection of small cakes is overwhelming, and you can choose from them on the spot. They are all super delicious! But I must say, the sweetness is quite high. Dont miss it if youre a fan of sweets. Every bite is filled with happiness, but if youre not a big fan of sweet food, you might find it a bit too sweet. Various Ice Cream: MADOs ice cream is also amazing! All flavors are delicious, with the right amount of sweetness and a creamy texture. Especially when enjoyed with warm cake, its truly a heavenly delight. However, those who prefer a lighter taste may find it a bit too sweet. MADOs patio is located in a beautiful outdoor mall in Don Mills, making it a great place to enjoy food and sunshine during the summer. The servers are very friendly and attentive, making me feel very comfortable. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is great, with a mix of exotic and modern elements. MADOs food and service are both excellent, making it a great spot for those who love Turkish cuisine to check out. Although the desserts are a bit too sweet, the flavor is truly amazing.

We had a fantastic experience ordering cake and desserts from Mado. All of my guests enjoyed Cold Baklava so much that everyone was asking me for the restaurant s name. I m very glad that i ordered from Mado which added extraordinary experience to my son s birthday party.

Very pleasant and respectful hostess and waitress 5*****, and the 1* goes to the owner/ management! The moment we sat down , and start ordering our dinner, we kept getting the same answer sorry, we currently don t have it after hearing it for the 3rd time in a raw , we got up and left. I dropped by with my two kids not expecting the most magically delicious brunch that Ive had in a long time, and man I loved it so much that I had to write a google review. The food was exquisite and delicious and the warmth of the staff (especially the owner) made it feel like home. We ordered the brunch tapas style board (like a mini buffet) and let me tell you that the value of this dish is extraordinary. So much food for such an amazing cost! This gem of a restaurant is not one to miss.

The experience was bad like bad bad by the unprofessional and condescending behavior of the manager. Throughout my meal, I couldnt help but notice how she spoke to her staff in a demeaning and disrespectful manner. She would belittle them in front of customers, and even raise her voice when they made a mistake. It was clear that she had no respect for her team and treated them as if they were beneath her. The staff seemed visibly stressed and on edge, and it was clear that they were not being treated with respect and dignity. Overall, while the food at Mado was ok, I was deeply disappointed by the her behavior. It is unacceptable to treat employees in such a disrespectful manner. Acutely, its unacceptable to treat humans like that. Shameful. I hope they find a better place to work.
