3 Elmhurst Ave, North York, ON M2N 1R3, Canada
Since opening its doors in 2013, Nolbu Sushi has stood as a bastion of Korean culinary tradition in the bustling North York neighborhood. This restaurant, with its blend of sushi, sashimi, and cherished Korean dishes, serves as a bridge connecting the local community to the flavors of Korea's rich and diverse food culture.
Owner Chef Mr. and Mrs. Bae always warm welcome customer. Also their Seafood Special menu always beyond my expectations; fresh, delicious and huge amount!! Great place to get together with friends thank you!
TLDR: A really good find of a place because they have a vast menu of Korean foods, and Japanese ones as well. They also offer good drink deals, and fresh sashimi. -[SPIDER ROLL] $16.99 🦀 Deep fried softshell crab, avocado, fish egg, and topped with mayo 🦀 This one honestly didn't have much of the softshell crab flavor to it if I'm being honest 🦀 Makes it a good version for people to try if they've never had softshell crab before -[SPICY SALMON ROLL] $7.99 🌶 Their version actually does have a kick to it which is not the norm 🌶 I actually couldn't quite put my finger on what was different about their spicy salmon vs other ones until I discussed it haha 🌶 The roll is HUGE for a six piece maki so quite worth it if you ask me -[HAEMUL PAJEON] $23.99 🥞 This is a seafood pancake that is savory aka not the kind you put maple syrup on 🥞 Had assorted seafood in it like squid, and imitation crab, but also had mushrooms, green onions, and onions as well 🥞 This was well seasoned, and panfried well which made it crispy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside. I honestly thought it didn't need a dipping sauce because of that but it does come with one -[YUK HWE] $23.99 🥩 Raw beef sashimi topped with egg that is also served with Asian pear/cucumber matchsticks 🥩 My goodness, the portion of this was HUGE in a good way 🥩 I really liked their version of this, and will 100% be ordering it again because the flavor of it was 10/10, and I found myself topping my other foods with it to elevate the overall dining experience -[UNAGI DON] $18.99 🍚 This was barbecue eel served on a bed of assorted vegetables all on top of rice 🍚 I did honestly think the sautéed vegetebles (beansprouts, carrots, onions) they chose were odd originally but I will admit they ended up working well with the flavors of the eel 🍚 A sizable portion for sure 📝 They do have fresh fluke/flounder sashimi that I have a lot of interest in coming back to try 📝 I didn't have any drinks (this time) because I had work later that night but they definitely had some good deals to return for 🍻
The aesthetic the vibe the service 10/10 super friendly and nice. The sushi boat we had was good just a couple pieces the rice was a little hard. But overall great spot!
Their sashimi/sushi and oyster are sooooo fresh and delicious!!! Always love to come here. I will definitely try the flounder next time.
Super fresh Toro sashimi and Urchin !! Food is regularly all good condition🫶 Servers are friendly and kind. *This place has the best flounder sashimi and combo !!*
What a great spot! Had no idea it was hidden here. Everyone was so warm and kind and service was great. They have a mix of Korean and japanese food so you get banchan with your sushi! I actually loved that The sushi was delicious, compliments to the sushi chef. Miso soup was great and so was the kani salad. I do wish the assorted tempura had more veggies and veggie types though. Overall I'll definitely go back soon
Been coming here for 8 years now. The late hours are so convenient and the quality of the food is so consistent no matter what time I go. The owners are so nice. I’ve tried so many things on the menu, but tonight I had salmon sushi pizza, volcano roll, Alaska rolls, torch sushi dinner, and seaweed salad. I’ve gotten the sushi boats and party platters in past and the presentation is amazing!!
Not enough meat in bibimpab, a lot of hard rice and no spinach. Dynamite roll however was good. Service is okay, but kinda not very friendly. Menu selection is good, but a bit on a pricier side. Nice ambiance though.
The food is so so
I had raw flounder for the first time since I came to Canada... It was really fresh, chewy, and delicious. The service was really good and the servers were friendly, so I had a pleasant meal. Ill come here often next time. Thank you. I hope you prosper
A good sushi spot if you want to hang out and eat. Service was good. The sushis were good. Food is good. Would recommend.
The food, the selection, the service, all 100% on point. If you want to eat live sashimi in Toronto, you should go to a korean-owned sushi restaurant. Food
The food is so delicious and the service is so good :) A great place to come for a drink!! The atmosphere is nice and the seats are very comfortable.
The atmosphere was nice and the servers were friendly, but the tripe casserole was so bad. It was so sweet because it had bulgogi in it, and there was no alcohol in it, so I wondered what kind of food this was. I came because it was recommended. The first food was so bad that I dont think Ill ever come back.
I ve been here on 3 different occasions and the food has been good, no major issues. But the older lady who serves here has been incredibly rude every single time. She slams things on the tables, no thank you s, sometimes she literally doesn t bother responding if you talk to her. Rolls her eyes if you ask for a refill on the single plate of side dish she s brought (they normally bring several). She came to our table last night, bent down weirdly close to the food to reach the soy sauce, and then took it away without saying a word in the middle of our sushi dinner. Our whole table went silent from shock. Then she came back to take payments and aggressively took the machine back and walked away without a single pleasantry. I can t even chuck it up to a bad day because she was exactly like this the last two times i ve gone and it s clearly not an isolated issue according to the other reviews.
The first place that comes to mind when I plan to meet a friend... I am very satisfied with the taste, service, and atmosphere.
Constant with the quality always a good spot for some sushi or Korean style food
Its so nice to have a place in Toronto where you can eat raw fish I really enjoyed it and the combo is really good The service was good and the flounder was fresh and chewy :) There are really fresh fish in the aquarium
I get late night cravings for Oysters but am I up to shucking an Oyster at midnight? No. lol I love their oysters and they re always packaged perfectly with all the brine still intact. Their Salmon Sashimi is always fresh! I love their Avocado Salad and their Kalbi is a little expensive but so good. Vegetarian options: Avocado Salad
Love this place. Been coming here for years and they never miss
Clean and fresh ingredients Its worth recommending.
I love the fact that this place is open late. The food is also very good!
Dongtaetang was so delicious!!! With soju ~~~~~ fantastic I definitely visit again ~~ Staff was nice and kind ~~~~ Food : 5/5 |
A variety of delicious Korean food and fresh Japanese food in one place I come here often because I can eat it. Gamjatang is especially delicious too.
Very fresh Korean sashimi and great service!
You are so welcoming and the servers are friendly too
By far the best sushi spot in town! Not to mention their oysters are amazing
Very tasty. Good services!! Food
Very Good! Fish are Fresh
Very fresh and tasty sushi, recommended!
Such great spot to eat!! Late night or though out the day!!!
I love this sushi restaurant they are very nice and the food is amazing
Was serviced with a smile and respect and the food was great
A hidden gem in North York! The food was delicious and it s perfect for a late night meal.
Very delicious and friendly place
I liked the interior because it had a traditional Korean atmosphere. I had Jjambong, and it was delicious with the combination of fresh vegetables, broth from seafood, and chewy noodles. Especially without oil Because cabbage was added, the soup was cool and refreshing.
The institution is at the highest level. Everything is tasteful and well thought out. Its really a very good place. You will be fed there deliciously, you will be served there very well, you will be over the moon there)))))) Just go there and enjoy yourself ))
Its the best... I really wanted to go to Korea because I love seafood, but its a completely Korean-style raw fish sashimi. Theres an aquarium in the restaurant and live flounder. I think its the most delicious and fresh raw fish restaurant in Toronto. The raw fish salad was delicious, the oysters were good, and even the spicy spicy stew was amazing. They were friendly. They provide great service and a set of 3 bottles of soju, so its really cheap. Im spreading the word to my Korean friends who live here. Ill be going again soon.
Amazing sushi
Sushi was fresh and served quickly relative to the amount of people dining. I would recommend this place to try for sure
Not able to speak English. Not ordered any thing.
The food was great..The oysters are soooo fresh, a little bit pricey tho but it melts in the mouth!!! Other food we ordered like soondae guk and the chicken soup was amazing!!
The server is very friendly!!! The food was very delicious and they gave me sundae as a service. The sundae was also very delicious. Be sure to eat spicy stew.
The food is perfect, always good choice for late night food, try the crunch roll and nolbu roll for sure.
Great customer service over the phone for order and pick up and food is great since they add so much! 3 stars only because they got my order wrong and this was my first visit :( I ordered x2 crab roll sushis and they gave me x2 spicy roll Kani. It tastes good but I cannot handle spicy so I gave it to my fiancé. Also I did not want to drive back since it takes about 20 mins to get there to where we are. Edit: came here again years later to order and they forgotten one of my items for take out. However the atmosphere and customer service they are very very nice :) thank you again the food was great my fiancé loves it
The sushi was good but the taste of soy sauce was different compared to other places and was too salty for me.
This is the first raw fish restaurant Ive been to in Toronto. The atmosphere was nice and the taste was good.
Its a restaurant I used to go to a lot, but I was upset because they didnt respond very well even though I recently told them that the potatoes in the gamjatang were dry. The service was also really bad. I wont go again
Their Spicy Kani salad was amazing and definitely Ill go back for it. Their sushi was fresh and tasty. Food
Always a great option for sushi. Small place.
Variety of selections on foods especially fresh fishes all the time. I have been eating here for so many years and always coming back for their Jajangmyeon noodles and sashimi sets. Come and check them out, I promise that you won t be disappointed
Good one. Great ambience. Faster service
Tasty food, fresh and very competitive prices. The atmosphere is cozy. I really like the place.
Very good service with very good vibes with a very cozy atmosphere with very good food.
Good quality.
Nolbu is such a dope spot. They have both Korean and Japanese food, and best of all, they are open until 2am. The place is cozy, and downstairs they have a karaoke bar.
Incredible is the only word that comes to mind! Best sushi in town!
Great people and food seems to be always fresh The restaurant set up is unique, authentic and warm One of the best sushi spots in the area
Snacks are delivered to the karaoke room. Fresh seafood snacks are recommended.
Try this place, they have good sushi with fair prices. The seats are comfortable and cozy. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
There is no heungbu
Included the item what we didnt order in check, even it was more than $50. They didnt cancel the card pay, just paid back cash.
I ordered the bulgogi bibimbap and it was delicious. When I got it in the stone bowl (dolsot), I was sizzling and all the veggies really complimented each other. The bibimbap sauce is essential. Our server was very nice and she tried to accommodate to any dietary restrictions as much as possible. I would recommend this place overall. I do wish there was some music in the background though
Good service, food is good but not one of my top places for Korean. Great for a late night stack because they close late.
Very fresh and tasty sushi, but the fish tank full of half dead fish was a tad off-putting.
If youre drunk... make sure to watch the bilge haha.
Awesome atmosphere.
Raw flounder + spicy stew is really delicious! I think I found a real Korean restaurant after a long time.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere
Warning: they will tell you when you order tip is 15% minimum. When they give you the bill, they will add that 15% onto your bill, and pass the Interac machine to you on the tip screen. If you press Tip 15% on the tip screen, you would ve double tipped. My friends did that and end up double tipping accidentally. Food wasn t good, service was bad, and the fish tank is putrid.
This is one my favourite Korean restaurants which is cozy and nice. I mostly order ribs there which is amazing and sometimes I go for this Kalbi Bento which has sushi, dumplings, salad and rice and of course ribs, I highly recommend to try this at least once in your life
One of my to-go places for late night cravings . Never disappointed
Nolbu Bhaskar always been one of my favorites.
Great food but very expensive.
Fast service, good food and reasonable prices anytime we go there! You can have a nice cooked meal and wine its worth every penny! Parking is a bit of an issue though. Furniture could be update to make it cozier, but we have never been disappointed going there.
Sushi tasted good but the preparation seems rushed and Maki rolls shapes are inconsistent. Pork bone soup was too salty. The soy sauce for sushi was way too salty, not proper sushi soy sauce. Spicy Pork was good and can be more hot Spicy. Please improve as I like to try again in the near future. I really wanted to rate 3.5 buy rounded up to a 4. Dinner for 3 of us was 120 including tips and we had 1 serving of leftover enough for lunch, so to be fair 4 person would be satisfied. 30 bucks a head is not bad at all in the yonge and Sheppard area.
Food didnt taste good.
Great spot for Japanese and Korean food!
Definitely worth checking out, with a decent price.
One of my favourite spots for sushi! Highly recommend the sushi pizza & salmon sashimi. Open until 2am every night so great for those late night munchies.
My go to Korean restaurant in the area. Very reasonably priced with a large variety of food selection. I highly recommend their bibim noodles!
Good food, good ambience. I was actually very surprised at the deep fried sushi pizza. One of the best Ive had for sure. I dont think theres any free parking around though and sometimes I question how much is the price justified. Paid like 30 dollars for 9 torched sushi.
Very disappointed with my experience, most likely WILL NOT BE RETURNING. Came on a beautiful Sunday evening around 6pm and I only saw one other table and it took more than 10 min to put in my order- had to get up to call server. Ordered a sushi roll set, bulgogi and takoyaki, everything had an issue except for the complimentary sides. Bulgogi was DRY, BLAND, COLOURLESS. Sushi rice was bland, spicy salmon roll had NO SALMON IN THE ROLL, full of sauce and dread crumbs. TAKOYAKI WAS RAW. Kitchen did not take criticism well. Asked to change the bulgogi to galbi (grilled shortrib) for $17.99 they gave me 7 pieces and 2 of them were mostly bone. Waitress was very kind, DON T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY HERE, there are much better Korean and Japanese restaurants within walking distance from here. (Tried adding pictures to the Photos page)
I ve been frequenting Nolbu for quite a while now and find that the food is absolutely delicious! My friends and family come often for late night eats and we re never disappointed.
I got a chance to visit Nolbu after many years of being away and it was such a phenomenal experience! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the servers were super friendly! Highly recommend for a late night out.
Great sushi , good price and amazing quality and the staff are welcoming
Delicious food
best place ever for sushi theyre open really late.
Been ordered here many times. Ordered via Uber eats tonight. Driver never picked up. But it says my order has been delivered and done. Called them. They kept saying I don t know. Just cancel and call uber eats. It s not our business. If you dont know who knows? Great customer service. You lose your regular customer. Never ever order here again. Terrible old lady s irresponsible respond.
The food was awful and worst than that was their customer service! We ordered 2 foods and they brought one of them first and it took like 30 minutes for them to bring the second one!!!! Unbelievable! And when i was complaining to their MANAGER she walked away from me!!!!!!!!! And when I asked her to come by our table again she had no explanation for her behavior! Such an unprofessional behavior we never coming back to this place and I definitely not recommend this place at all!!!
Very quiet and lowkey location! Literally no one in there when we went. Easy to order and they do takeout, super friendly! Definitely a good spot to chill and enjoy good food and drinks :)
Good food and service. The food was so quick to arrive, we got out of there after 30mins.
Very good quality sushi great customer service
Nice place, a little hard to find but worth the search. The selection of food is crazy from sushi, Japanese, and Korean the variety is endless. I got the sushi and it was delicious. The prices are decent and the hours are late. Definitely recommend this place for late night sushi. (The crazy rolls are insanely good) Parking: Green P parking located (#403) at the back (west of yonge street) and street parking is available all around the area
Went there around 10 pm. They were one of the few places thats still open, but the sushi isnt the freshest.
First thought coming in through the door, PUB. Im not quite sure why I thought that but it may be because of the really low lighting almost lending itself to dark academia, though its most likely to carry out a theme of Karaoke nightlife which they have available in the basement. The service we received the first time was blah and the second was nearing rude; not a drop of cheeriness. Not a deal breaker, but customers would like to know their patronage is appreciated just as owners/cooks would appreciate to know their food is well liked. Food, though, was on a different level. Hats off to the Chef, as the food was delicious. We had a variety of makizushi, nigirizushi and sashimi that were yumm. Nabeyaki udon, IMO, is hard to find in the GTA, so it was a surprise to see on the menu - no regrets in opting for that. Sadly, no pics were taken of the food as we were famished at the times we went in.
Among the Korean restaurants in Canada, this one had the most taste different from Korea. The rice, which is the basis of Korean food, was not cooked, the side dishes were just imitations of Korean food, and the main dish, seafood stew, was not cooked sufficiently and only tasted like seasoning. I recommend somewhere else.
If i could give 0 stars i would but unfortunately i cant, the worst part was the customer service, the server is so rude, her english is not good so she doesn t understand well and gets mad at us and roll her eyes and talks with attitude. They consider 5 people as a large group and they add compulsory tip on your order!!! Worst restaurant i ever went, instead try sushi moto extraordinary food and great customer service.
Jack of all traits.
A restaurant run by Koreans where you can enjoy sushi, raw fish, etc. and also enjoy karaoke.
Korean and Japanese food done right. They have special live fish to prepare on the spot for sashimi! Theres also a karaoke booth in the basement where you can order your food and drink away. A great way to spend your entire night . They used to allow a free hour of karaoke if you spend over $150 in the restaurant, try to ask!
One of my favorite Korean/ Japanese Restuarant at Yonge and Sheppard location . Always on the go place .
best ramen place
The food and service here is absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend for Korean and Japanese lovers alike!
This has become my favorite dirty little secret late at night.. This restaurant is very clean everything is always fresh and delicious yes the staff is very helpful. Best sushi in Ontario if you like rice on the outside of your salmon Maki.
Definitely not my taste, soup was so salty that my tounge had numb sensation afterward, and I feel really thirsty. The rice came with the soup was dry and not a good quality rice. The jokbal was dry and too sweet, like they marinated it with too much sugar. It comes with nothing, no rice, no veggies, no banchan. I got only some green chillies, and some garlic.
Feature: both Korean and Japanese food, and quite amount of choices and variety. Service: good and friendly Food: nice but kind of expensive Quality: average, not the best but not bad
good food
Love this place.
It was a special night for me, and enjoyed a lot. Everything was perfect. Fresh food, exotic beer, and a nice welcome! It was my first time but not the last one!
Waitress harassed us for tips when my foreign cousin was counting money that he s not familiar with. She took the card machine and calculated 15% to show how much my cousin should give and that it s mandatory. When I told my cousin that it is not mandatory to give tip at all, she rudely said I ll give your 10 dollars back as if we were cheap. Food was decent, thank you chef. But front staff was garbage, the older waitress needs to know not to beg for tips
Waitress rudely asked my foreign cousin to pay tips then proceeded to argue that it s mandatory. After a while she was like let me give your $10 back but we never asked for it we just wanted her to admit that it s not mandatory and she s the one asking for it rudely. We never took back the $30 in total she didn t return.
Rude staff asks for tip with a calculator before we can even pay for the meal. Gets annoyed when we say it s not mandatory to pay tips.
The rude waitress asked for a tip, that too rudely. Food was average as well but on pricier side. Wouldn t go again
Food was delicious and we were greeted by really friendly staff
I ordered 3 servings of flatfish sashimi, but it was $105 for 30 pieces of paper-thin flounder sashimi, and the radish in the maeuntang was as thin as the radish in nabak kimchi. Even if I eat $105 worth of food, Im still hungry. A real thief. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the food was like Nolbu Simbo. Not only will you never want to come back, but you will also tell people around you not to go there. Im really angry.
It was fun, had a great guide to help in sorting out the menu, went with his direction, staff was very on point.
Great food and reasonable prices- definitely will go there again!
the hwe dup bap was huge, nice & fresh fish. beautiful!
Decided to stop in for a late lunch. I love both Korean and Japanese food so this place was definitely on my radar. The menu consists of everything you would want from both cultures, so of course I ordered it all. The bimimbap was good but it was missing something. Sushi was great and it paired well with a pot of sake. Definitely want to come back and try a few more things. Id recommend going if youre looking for a lot of variety. Seating is good too for a small group or more.
Great food good service!
Old waitress obviously cursed us for tip. Horrible service i ever seen, she put hard the plate on our table were shocked. Crazy elder lady has some problems
Worst sushi I ever had , too much rice ,old ingredients , rude waitress , prices are so expensive and you get bad food , will not be back !
Amazing food & amazing service!!
I order from here on Ubereats pretty often. Their food is good, but the price is a bit too high
Excellent service and food. Me and my buddy went here for a late night post workout meal. It was fresh and tasty. 5/5
Staff is always so happy and foods good!
Low quality Korean food, didn t have the sushi so I can t say.. however the service is extremely poor. Had to ask 3 times for utensils and on the third attempt, got snappy with us.. You gave us a poor experience and gave us attitude after we asked kindly the first two times.
unironically the best sushi i ve had in a while. i am EXTREMELY picky with sushi, but this place was phenomenal.
My Korean food go-to place. Always fresh and delicious! A little bit on the salty side for the soup but it s still the best soup I have ever tried. They have fresh halibut sashimi platter and some Japanese sushi/sashimi choices here. Great to pay a visit!
Not sure about their sashimi, but the sushi rolls were really bad really disappointing. The Rice had no flavour, there was way too much rice got the maki roll party tray and didn t enjoy the meal at all. :( My advice: Try something else, not sushi - maybe get some Korean dishes
1st time having pork bone soup. not bad actually.
Perfect! Has to be one of the best sushi s i have ever had. Tried the snow roll (8 pcs). Great presentation, perfect temperature, very nice rice and fresh ingredients!
Our new favourite sushi place! Fish is always fresh. Will try their Korean food next time
Horrible service. The waitress is a really rude lady. I won t never go back.
Food is not bad however the waiters attitude is poor also the service they provide is changing all the time and its not consistent. They used to bring green tea, Kimchi and Sprouts while waiting for your food, now you need to ask and the waiter will gives u the dirtiest look possible. You need some major training for Nolbus Staff.
It s great place to get some good food. But sometimes they might not have the best service.
Pretty authentic Korean place, you can get all the topical Korean dishes you would want to eat. A very casual/family dinner vibe.
Fire sushi. Open late night
Love live Sashimi!! Fresh!!
Went with family, was a cute and delicious filling dinner.
Some of the best Maki rolls Ive had in a while. New favourite spot. Nolbu house special and the Atomic rolls are a must try Parking: Public parking adjacent
Great place to go late at night after a few drinks. Thank you for staying open late.
Food is either salty or blend. Too overpriced for the quality and portion. The hwal eoh hwei (raw fish) comes with just the fish and some sauces and veggies but other places they serve with soup and many other sides. The usual way the hwaleohhwei is served us with soup and many other sides. They definitely lack side dishes too. So little and not tasty. I only come here for the noraebang downstairs. Never for the food.
Portion size is small and over priced
THE BEST SUSHI!! I always get the green dragon roll as it is my favourite. I want to try everything! Their sushi is great, their sashimi is so fresh, and they ve always been so consistent with their service and quality of food. Basically this became the spot for me and my friends. We came here almost every week just for a quick sushi to go for like 2 years and always knew we would never be disappointed. It s slightly more pricey but I d take this over other sushi spots any day. 10/10 strongly recommend if you haven t already tried it. Their korean food is amazing too, coming from someone with 50% korean roots - it s great quality food. If you re thinking about trying it, GO!!! Like right now!!!
you must try the spider and the atomic roll!
Good portion, good quality, nice presentation and fair price. Really recommended as i was recommended by friends. Parking: Not enough parking spot as u need to park in Elmwood street
Nolbu is my goto place when I crave for some good sushi and cozy dine in. Great service and friendly staff.
Great choice and quality in food and top notch service!
I like this place~^^ The atmosphere is nice and its so nice to be able to eat sashimi
Sooooo expensive!! And terrible service that I had with my friends !! Better to go other place ! :(
this restaurant is generally pretty good. However, I wouldnt order the pork bone soup because its not better than other restaurants. I would probably try some other stuff. I like how theres sometimes free parking right at this outside the store
Ive eaten here a lot of times. I dont know why other reviews get bad service. The staff have always been nice and accommodating serving us. Food are affordable as well and they serve Japanese and Korean food. Giving them only 4 stars cause I didnt like their soft shell crab, it was a bit hard.
