Today was my first time trying Chiang Rai Avenue Rd. location and the food was HORRIBLE! I have been to Chiang Rai Markham multiple times and have always had a great experience there, from the food to service. I picked up the Famous Pad Thai and Thai Basil Fried Rice, and both were so bad that we could not finish them. I requested Hot spice level for the Pad Thai and it was just overly sweet and had a very dark colour, no spice whatsoever and the flavour was just off. The smell was weird. The rice was flavourless and no spice even though we requested medium for that. I just don t understand how two locations can vary so much. I wish I could get a refund for the food from here. So disappointed. Will definitely never be returning to this location.

I m a big fan of the Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai restaurants and have been to every location except this one - today was my first time visiting as I was in the area. One of the dishes I ordered was the pineapple fried rice, and unfortunately there was a piece of raw chicken in my food. I brought this to the waitress attention (she was new - but she brought someone else in to handle the situation) - I saw the staff show the kitchen and confirmed that the chicken was raw. The restaurant s way of rectifying this was by taking the dish back and taking it off our bill but I honestly didn t get the reaction or apology I was hoping for given how extremely unsafe raw chicken is - food poisoning, salmonella infection, etc. We couldn t finish the rest of our meal because we felt sick after seeing that. I urge the restaurant to please do better. This isn t acceptable.

I recently dined at this restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience, thanks in large part to our server, Ugyen. From the moment we were seated, Ugyen was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. She made thoughtful recommendations from the menu and ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable throughout the evening. The food, of course, was excellent beautifully presented and delicious but it was Ugyen s outstanding service that truly elevated the whole experience. If you re looking for a great night out with impeccable service, I highly recommend this spot!

Today, my girlfriend Amy and I went to Chiang Rai Avenue for an early dinner, and it was a great experience. We ordered pineapple fried rice, Pad Thai, Thai iced tea, and spring rolls everything tasted fantastic! The ambience of the restaurant is really nice, making for a comfortable and pleasant meal. Prices were reasonable, and the service was excellent. We ll definitely be coming back soon!

Wonderful experience! The whole vibe of the restaurant was really soothing and relaxing with pleasant music. It was the first time I tried Thai food and I am definitely going to visit again. My order: Pad Thai Noodles, Veg. Spring Roll and Iced Tea Full of Flavours Perfect blend of so many flavours at the same time. I dont think I have ever had something so flavoursome. We came back and this time with family for a birthday celebration, and everyone loved it. They loved the food, the presentation, and the decor. The food here is outstanding for a local/uptown Thai! They could do without the garnishing on every meal (as I imagine a lot leads to waste) and servers could check in a bit more regularly with patrons but food does truly go above and beyond - give it a try if youre in the neighbourhood.

So I have ordered before from here and this last time I gave up! All 3rd party delivery. Online portal stinks and menu is presented by delivery company where prices vary vendor to vendor. It used to be easy to order food online. Not anymore!! Bad UX

Food and vibes were great, however after leaving the restaurant we noticed an undeclared mandatory 18% gratuity tip was applied to the AFTER tax amount on our behalf. There were no disclaimers/signage of the mandatory 18% service charge on their menus or anywhere in the restaurant, nor did our server mention this when presenting the bill. Went in for a late dinner, three groups in the restaurant. 1 group of 4, another group of 2 and our group of 5. Food was good but service was very nonchalant. Three ladies behind the bar and we had to beckon to them to order, beckon to them for another drink, not once after serving the food did they come to check on us. One was on her fone and snacking, they were shoving each other as to who should come over when we tried to get their attention. For groups of 5 or more the gratuity of 18% is automatically added, you are not verbally told but its in smaller print on the menu. If I could give a zero rating for service I would, lazy and still charging 18%.

Ive been to Chiang Rai many times. Food had been great until the last visit last evening. Service was good, but the food was a disappointment. I wont say it was bad, but was subpar as compared to how it was before. The spring roll wasnt as crispy and a bit salty. The sauce was somewhat watery and didnt stick at all to the spring roll. The fish cake tasted a bit blend than before. The taste was richer before. The chicken satay wasnt good. It was overcooked and tough, and zero taste. Fortunately the peanut sauce was still okay. The red curry was watery. The garlic sauce shrimp was more salty and rich in flavour. The pad thai was also worse than before, it was more sour and more salty than before. The mango juice was from a can, and its way too sweet. The food was a disappointment. I hope its just isolated.

One of the best Thai Kitchen in Toronto. Really enjoyed the Food + Service. Takes you back to Thailand, the tastes are authentic and a lot of popular choices for the cravings. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options as there s base remains vegetables. Protein choices are available for vegetarians (Tofu).

$134.68 for a take out dinner from this restaurant. Food is terrible, papaya salad was warm and has a weird aftertaste kinda like sucking toes. Calamari contains flour more than the meat itself. Mango sticky rice is disgusting with bad warm mango, like what?! I tried Markham location dine in and the quality is great, I guess I have high hope for North York location but it turns out just terrible.

I have previously been to their markham location and both times i was very satisfied. The food was delicious and i got different items at both locations. This time i tried the house pad thai and it was SO good, previously tried the tom yum pad thai which was also very tasty. Would highly recommend coming here if you are craving thai food!

Best padthai! However, servers need to be careful when spraying Lysol. It gets in the air and it s pretty unpleasant during eating.

Food was great! Its yummy and I like the fact that we can choose how spicy each dish is. The service can be improved. We made a reservation and they sent a reservation cancelled text after I arrived. They gave the two years old kid a regular cutlery set. They kept checking on our table and interrupted our talk.

Unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to their food. Although they assured me they could accommodate making the Pad Thai gluten-free, I had a really bad reaction after eating it. While the food itself is tasty, if you have allergies you should be careful dining here. It would be good for the staff to undergo proper allergy training, and to transparently communicate if certain items cannot be safely prepared for customers. Dietary restrictions: Not safe for people with gluten allergies.

I ve dined in several times and also get delivery all the time. Their food is always consistently good. Unfortunately I m not a big fan of their pad thai, but their fried rice dishes are good. Highly recommend!

Food was pretty good, not my favorite Thai Ive had in that area though. Service was... Sparse. But the staff were super sweet and friendly. Atmosphere was clean and bright, the music was like mid to late 2000s karaoke and music videos on YouTube, lol. I think they do most of their business on food delivery apps. Just had lunch for a friend s bday. It s a party of 10 plus my table of four. The four of us went in 30 minutes later than the others and we ordered our mains while others are having their apps. We are the table of four with young children. Instead of giving our mains first, they served my friend s table first (they ordered 10 minutes after us on the mains). Of course my kids are getting restless as food kept going to the other side. Long story short, they still charge my table of four 20% on gratuity even though I told them in advance that this table is separate from the rest of the party. The server never came to refill my glasses and I had to take away my own dirty dish. I do not grasp how they can have the audacity to ask for 20%! I am def not impressed. Never returning as there are better thai food with better service.

My recent visit to Chiang Rai restaurant was extremely disappointing and easily ranks as one of the worst Uber eats experiences Ive ever had. The service was shockingly unprofessional, with staff displaying a lack of basic courtesy and competence. To make matters worse, I discovered a hair in my food, which completely ruined my appetite and left me feeling disgusted. I had to resort to Uber Eats to refund my order due to the unsanitary conditions and poor service. My advice to others: stay away from this establishment, especially considering it operates as a pop-up shop. Absolutely not worth the risk. I wouldn t have written this review if the staff had just listened to me instead of hanging on the phone because they didn t know how the service industry works

WARNING - NOTHING IS GLUTTON FREE. I ordered dinner and asked the person taking our order if the Crispy Chicken Appetizer was glutton free. She went and asked someone at the restaurant and came back and said, yes. She also said the Basil Rice with Chicken was Glutton Free. I actually asked her 2x to make sure. My son is Celiac and had a horrible reaction to the meal. It will take him weeks to recover fully. In this day and age, a restaurant should be able to educate their staff on things like Glutton Allergies and if the food they serve is glutton free or not. I am not impressed.

Food on the menu is the usual one would expect from a Thai place around in Toronto. They have a vast menu. Food was decent and the serving size was huge. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Had have better Thai food in town but no bad experience here as well. So overall it was decent.

We had an amazing evening. We went to celebrate my father in laws bday. The food was amazing; portions are big, food is fresh and tasty and the staff were exceptional. They are so warm and go above and beyond. We will definitely be back.

I am a vegetarian. The food tasted good. Although, I nearly have to return it everytime to get the food heated up again. Its too luke warm when it comes. Staff is sweet and gets things in order. Atmosphere is overall nice - its a small restaurant. Some tables are wobbly and nothing has been done about them.

My family of 6 adults ate dinner at Chiang Rai North York for a joint birthday celebration and the food and service was incredible. The staff here are so attentive, considerate and welcoming. The staff who took our order noticed one of the tables were wobbly and made it her priority to fix it for my parents. They adjusted the spice levels to mild for all the dishes due to my dad s low tolerance for spicy food and everything still tasted amazing! They also took multiple family pictures for us on 3 different phones. They made sure we were happy with the photos before leaving too. Service was 11/10! Seriously, we were so happy with the high quality of service and flavourful food! We will definitely be back for future dine-in dinner plans! Our new favourite Thai food spot.

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience at this Thai gem! From the very first bite, the Pad Thai enveloped us in a symphony of flavors, perfectly balanced between sweet, sour, and savory. The Malay Curry was a revelation, rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice to warm the soul without overwhelming the palate. And the Tom Yum? Simply out of this world - a zesty, tangy broth that danced on the tongue with bursts of lemongrass, lime, and chili. Every dish was a testament to authentic Thai cooking at its finest. Cant recommend this place enough for anyone craving a culinary journey to Thailand!

Ordered from here an hour prior to pick up and they were still late half an hour more.. I also noticed everyone in the kitchen working had NO GLOVES or HAIR NETS on.. I asked to speak to the manager but they didn t want me to do I will definitely be taking this up with public health. Beyond Disappointing and Horrible Customer Service to say the least.

Ordered the Pad Thai through Uber Eats and the food came burnt. Its very clear they burnt the sauce and it was dark brown and there were black burnt bits in my food. Its clear they thought since it was a takeout order it wouldnt matter. Will never order from here again.

Normally this places gets a 5 star from me but I ordered a tofus lemongrass soup & tofu red curry today on Uber eats and I got food poisoning.

Youll find flavour in their famous pad Thai with shrimp ($23). Sour, savoury, and slightly sweet notes flood my mouth on the first bite, especially a strong tamarind element. It complimented the chewy noodles, which were stir fried to perfection and resisted sogginess despite being slathered in sauce. The finely chopped roasted peanuts also helped to counteract the wetness of the dish. I would skip the tom yum fried rice with vegetable and tofu ($18) as its also very tangy and two sour dishes were too much for one meal. Indeed, tom yums recipe has lemongrass and lime, but these tart elements soaked into the rice it was powerful. Still, I enjoyed all the herbs: galangal (a peppery ginger), basil, and kaffir lime leaves, which added a freshness to the starch. The fried rice was just too wet - Chiang Rai likely uses fresh rather than day old rice to the point that it tasted better as leftovers. If you re a fan of chicken devil, the crispy chicken chilli sauce stir fry ($19) is a stellar version of the dish. I love the big nuggets of battered chicken that s very lightly covered with the spicy, savoury, and sweet sauce so they remain crunchy. Just get to the chicken quickly as there s not a lot of pieces amongst the vegetables.

I went here with my friends a couple months ago, and had a very bad experience. The service was horrible, the staff was rude, we didnt feel very welcomed, and they were basically trying to get us to leave. We werent loud or disturbing anyone, and there was only another couple there. The food was very average and not worth the expensive prices. I dont recommend.

I was fairly surprised with this spot. The mango salad was quite beautiful and very tasty. The portion for the salad was quite large even when sharing. Shrimp Red curry and Cashew Chicken were quite tasty. My only gripe was that the cashew chicken was fairly sweet for me. Not what I recall for this dish typically, but tasted a little sweet for my take. I had some bites of the red curry, and it was quite flavourful, you can really taste the ingredients in the paste. The garnish was a little much, but overall the food tasted great. There are so many Thai spots in the city, I would be willing to go back and try other fishes. They were very accommodating for a group of 11 of us, and I was lucky, at the time they were showing the world cup games but maybe it takes away from the atmosphere a little.

This is truly a hidden gem. We ordered multiple food items. Rice noodles chicken wings and soups.. everything was fresh delicious. The service was pretty fast and server recommendations are must try. Full marks for food and service. We had no complaints at all. I believe the ambiance was good but it could be much better.. Gonna visit again for sure

Just wow! We came in for my mother s birthday. Intimate but very clean and well decorated restaurant. The food was **exquisite**, my parents loved it. The service was very friendly and the food came in a very timely manner as well. Highly recommend this place, thank you so much for a great dinner service! We had the excellent Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup which was the most authentically tasting item, and Curry Fried rice cooked to perfection.

Best Thai in GTA. They have 5 locations 3 are calked Ching Mai. We have been to four out of five of them and theyre all awesome. Liberty Village has the best atmosphere followed by Danforth and Markham

Let me express my frustration... Cold tofu on the pad Thai.. fried spring roll tasted horrible.. Thai iced had no flavor.. basil fried rice had cold beef.. it was not fresh at all... Came in the hopes of seeing some good northern Thai food, especially the khao soi. Ambience is nice, we were three seated in a booth for 4. Street-food mural aesthetic is nice. Service is a mixed bag, they seem a bit preoccupied at times, even when theyre not that busy. However, they were super nice. Food: We shared tom yum soup with tofu, khao soi with beef, famous pad thai with shrimp, panang curry with lamb, and a green curry with chicken, along with coconut rice. First the good: the famous pad thai with shrimp--great smoky wok hay flavour, copious, meaty shrimp, great portions. A winner. 5/5 The green curry with chicken--also great flavour, with a good mix of chicken and vegetables, delicious with the rice. 4/5 Panang curry with lamb--not quite as good as the green curry, and couldve had more lamb in it, but decent flavour. 3.5 or 4/5 Now the bad: One of my best memories of visiting the Wat Rong Khun White Temple in Chiang Rai was the amazing khao soi we had at a small roadside restaurant--small portion, fresh noodle, deep broth, fresh herbs and nam prik pao on the table. This one was not that. I understand, variations abound, but this broth was beyond gravy-like, more gloopy like itd been thickened TOO much. The fried noodles that usually top the soup were clumped here, so much that it overwhelmed the rest of the soup. The lime was buried under everything, and no nam prik pao to be seen to add a kick to any of the dishes, if needed. Well yes, maybe we should have asked for it? 2/5 It also appears that they dont have any liquor license, which is too bad. A good Chang, Leo, or Singha (or even a local craft IPA) wouldve gone well with dinner, and I know you can get Singha in Ontario. With tax and tip, around $140. Would maybe return to try other dishes.

Amazing food! Saw the reviews before going over and was not disappointed. Loved the food :) genuine Thai flavorful and beautifully presented too.

Pleasantly surprised as the food was exceptional. It s kind of a hole in the wall, but would definitely come here again for food.

A bit of wait when coming for dinner time - understandably so. It is a small restaurant. Really nice and friendly service. The dishes came out with a nice presentation. The curry with the lobster was a little too sweet for my liking, the papaya salad could ve used a little more dressing, and the Thai tea was watered down. Everything else we had was good and and great portion size. Parking: Street parking on a busy main road.

This place has become a favourite. Always a great dining experience.

I generally don t upload negative reviews but I had an utterly disappointing experience from this long bookmarked place. Did a takeout for Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup. Never have I seen a more oily soup that lacks comfort of lemongrass soup and rather sweet and salty concoction. And Pad Thai also was too high on flavouring that you just can t enjoy entire thing as there is nothing to break flavour in between. Tofu was hardly there in both. I don t intend to repeat this unless they change their flavouring quantity. :( If you intend to go, better take cash as they give 10% off upon cash payment. Vegetarian options: There are sufficiently veg options

Nice place for lunch! Went with a friend and we had the chicken pad Thai and pad see ew. They take reservations, but it wasn t too busy on the weekday that we went. Would also recommend the Thai iced tea, very refreshing on a summer day!

Been wanting to try the Markham location but was in the neighbourhood so we went to this location. Ordered the Famous Pad Thai with shrimp, satay chicken skewers, Green Curry with chicken and a Thai Iced Tea. I really liked the Green Curry and found the pad Thai tasty but a touch too sauced up. The satay chicken was a bit too tough and the iced tea tasted like watery sugar water. I didn t get the authentic Thai flavour at all. The service was great at the beginning as they were attentive but once our food came, I don t recall the wait staff coming by at all, not even to ask us if we needed our plates cleared or the food packed up. I had to get up and go to them to ask for the bill and takeout containers. Overall I d still go back to try other items on their menu like pad see ew or their fried rices.

Feeling like having Thai food today? This is it! This is the place if you want to try authentic Thai food. So far, I had pad Thai and Calamari, and the food is so tasty, and it keeps you wanting more and more. Its packed of flavors, leaving you with great Thai experience. I must say that this is the one Im looking for and I cant imagine dining somewhere else. Please be warned you might get hooked with their dishes. Left the restaurant feeling satisfied! This is a hidden gem for sure. I wish I knew it sooner.

Excellent food! Fabulous presentation! For example, our pineapple fried rice came in a hollowed out half pineapple! Great price and value considering the quality, presentstion, and helpful and courteous wait staff. And our food (6 different dishes) arrived at our table unbelievably quickly.

Always looking for a new Thai joint, decided to try this place and drove from Durham to do so. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Excellent food. Very authentic. We had the Thai calamari, Thai springs rolls, Shrimp/Chicken Green Curry, Royal Pad Thai. Wonderful flavour and good quantity as well. Had to pack it up for home! Service was excellent. If you are in the area don t hesitate.

Pretty authentic Thai food. We ordered the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Green Curry, Malaysian bread, Tom Yam and Pineapple Fried Rice. The only thing I would pass on is the pineapple fried rice (despite the beautiful presentation) if I were to come again. We came with a party of 8 and there was a 18% mandatory gratuity for a large party. Our waitress was amazing. The only that would of made the night perfect if they picked up the phone when we called them.

Ive tried the other locations and had better experiences there. They served us food without any cutlery or napkins. After trying to wave them down and getting acknowledgement they still didnt get to us. We had to get our own plates from across the restaurant where nobody was eating. Their excuse was because they were busy. Well if the table was set correctly before seating us or paying attention when we were giving our order, this could have been avoided. The food itself was great as good as their other locations.

The food was excellent, very fast service, we don t eat much Thai food and it met our expectations, there wasn t anything that we didn t like. I tottaly recommend it

BEST Thai food in the town! Tasty and authentic food with large portion but reasonable price! Trust me, try the Khao Soi here! Very authentic and delicious! The broth is rich and flavourful with a perfect mix of spiciness and sweetness. Their Khao Soi is much more authentic and tastier than Pai s!!! Also recommend their pad kra paw! Pad Thai is good but too saucy imo.

I ordered Massaman curry via Ubereats and was not pleased at all. I ve been to other Chiang Rai locations and was always satisfied. The pieces of beef in the Massaman curry were extremely small and there was no peanuts in the curry. I ve had this dish before at another location, they garnished it was a lot of peanuts and the braised beef was larger and melted in your mouth. I don t think I would order from this location again. Also, the spice level of hot was not even close to what I expected.

Hidden gem, first visit. Great service and menu. We had the Khao Soi and Royal Pad Thai. Both were excellent. Basically licked my plate clean. Sweet potato fritter was a nice app. Cant wait to visit again. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options (might be vegan friendly, not sure) Dietary restrictions: If you hat nut allergies Id be careful

The food was delicious! Ordered Thai Shrimp Rolls, Pad See Ew Chicken, Pineapple Rice and Tom Yum Soup. Everything was really really great! Will recommend others to this restaurant. Even the native Thais were eating in this restaurant, so it must be really authentic!

Ordered the khao soi for takeout. Like other takeout reviews, we found the portion size to be really small, given the price and what you see if the photos if you dine in.

Had a really nice bowl of shrimp Tom Yum and a plate of pineapple fried rice. Their Tom Yum is a bit different than what I used to have at other places. The soup is thicker and I can taste more spice in it. But I like it. The fried rice is not bad, the rice is more sticky than I would prefer. All in all, a good place when you are craving for Thai food. About parking. It can be a bit tricky. I parked at the small road right before it. Its a Green parking by the road side.

Great food and the theme of the restaurant is quite nice. We typically visit the one in Markham and figured we would give this one a go. The panang and green curry are great! Pad Thai was really well flavoured as well. The food honestly is really delicious- you won t be disappointed at all! They really take pride in their presentation and taste. Super clean restaurant as well which was nice to see. The service was not the best , ladies were sitting in a booth at the front chatting. Ignored us most of the time and missed out on simple serving etiquette. Great food, if you re in the area and craving the give this location a try!

We had a nice time at Chiang Rai! The Pad See Ew was really good. I personally was not the biggest fan of the fresh rolls but overall the food was tasty and everyone we ate with enjoyed their dishes!

We loved the food and hospitality at this restaurant today!! We ordered Khao Soi and Malay Curry. Both dishes were yummy. I tried Malay curry for the first time and it was delicious. For someone like me who loves spicy food, it hits the spot and fulfil your cravings!! Great ambiance, great hospitality and great food. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again.

I love coming here. Ive tried the Basil fried rice, Beef Khao Soi and Pineapple fried rice. All have been flavourful and satisfying. I would come back everytime. Their Thai Iced Tea was also delicious.

I ate green curry with jasmine rice. And I choose chicken and spice level is moderate. It tastes great.

I was recently transported to the heart of Thailand at Chiang Rai Thai Kitchen in North York! From the aromatic curries to the perfectly balanced Pad Thai, every dish is a flavor-packed journey here. We tried their: Mango salad Famous Pad Thai (AMAZING!) Pineapple fried rice (star of the show!) Khao soi Basil stir fry The food is delicious here and so is their service. Definitely a must visit place!

The food was okay but the service was not good. I couldn t even enjoy my food in peace cus the environment was so chatic, there was so much of screaming and yelling from the kitchen. I had to put my food in a takeaway container and leave.
