The staff was extremely nice. I honestly was truly disappointed due to the fact that I wasted 60 dollars and took one bite out of the pulled pork and shredded cheese I believe it was a little sandwich it was full of fat the cheese wasn't melted again cold, and the fried cheese rolls were half cold inside. It was not edible what so ever. It went straight to the garbage. Truly regret wasting my money . Once again the staff was fantastic but the food was a definite no for me.

Delicious, authentic experience with the added charm of being served from a Toronto food truck. I enjoyed the rumbera on a park bench—though I have to admit, keeping the cheese and sauce from spilling was a bit of a challenge, but that's on me, innit?

This review pertains to the food truck. Food was good, first time having this type of cuisine. Service on the other hand, somehow, a dozen or so people were served ahead of me after I placed my order. I'd recommend that you take a peak at your statements on what you are charged. There is no screen to review your order, nor do they provide receipts. I was charged for additional items that I did not order nor receive. Followed up with them directly and was told that they would look into it. Went without a reply on some sort of resolution. Shouldn't be a difficult case to figure out and recall as they were serving lunch at an office building for 2 hours and I had went up and asked what was going on, and where was my order. To which they stopped everything and asked me what I ordered and put it together right there and then. Unless this happens often...

The Arepa Republic is a true North York gem. The owner Luis greated us with a smile and explained the menu. We loved that his parents worked together. His mom in the kitchen preping the arepa dough and his father carefully crafting freshly squeezed juices. The food is top notch quality. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite. Fresh ingredients, generous portions and a killer hot sauce. They also have a food truck available for catering prívate events. Will definitely return. Thank you for having a true mom and pop Venezuelan restaurant in the area.

Simple and down to earth Venezuelan food. The owner was fantastic and explained all the different items to us. I'm guessing this is more of a takeout place but was very happy to see that they have a small indoor seating area and some picnic tables outside. Everything was delicious! We had: • PARRILLA MIXTA - Grilled beef tenderloin, grilled breast chicken, chorizo, yuca fries, arepitas, nata, and guasacaca • PATACONES FLYING PORKY - Pulled pork with pineapple chutney sauce, ham, grilled fresco cheese, lettuce, tomato and salsas • TEQUEÑOS - Venezuelan cheese sticks • Drinks - Papelón con Limón (lemonade with cane sugar), Chicha (Venezuelan rice drink), and Passion Fruit Juice (my fav). I don't live close by, but if I ever have a craving for Venezuelan food, I will definitely drive the distance for it!

A small spot for arepas and other South American food. Firstly, the servers were extremely friendly and explained to me very clearly the items that I would enjoy since I have dietary restrictions. So kudos the servers. However the Rumbera arepa I had did not meet my expectations. I was told it was pulled pork but I did not find it to be pulled pork as you can see in the image. The cheese that was added was still cold and felt like it was store bought. It would have been better if they grilled the arepa for some time so that the cheese would melt. I am glad the server packed some chilli oil because that did help with the flavour. Finally, the arepa you see in the image attached was >$18 (after tax) which I think is a bit overpriced. Fantastic staff and service but the food and pricing should be looked at in a little more detail.

Located in an unassuming industrial district, this joint serves up some fun and authentic Latin food. Although not our usual fare, we really enjoyed the Sifrina and Pabellon arepas, which tasted fresh and flavourful, and were wonderfully crispy! While the portion size may at first glance seem small, it’s actually quite on point and we were well satisfied after eating. The staff are very friendly and evidently take cleanliness seriously. We were delighted to see all staff masked and disinfecting the payment terminal after each use, despite the end of the mask mandate this past week. From a value perspective, the arepas were a bit pricy at $14 each, but if you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a visit!

Unfortunately not really worth it, in my opinion. We got the arepa combo which is $21 plus tax. The arepas were pretty tasty but not very filling. It definitely didn t make up for the salad , which is just wilted spring mix with some dressing. Overall a pretty disappointing experience.

We went during a very slow day during the holidays. The Arepa with Reina pepiada was not good, served straight out of the refrigerator made days before, was not cool. A small meal at an exhorbitant price. Arepas are street food in Venezuela while we got charged full meal prices for something pretty mediocre. The basket of tequenos included five tequenos which came with nothing else again at much more than should be charged. Four would have been enough at a cheaper price. I dont understand the mentality of food services all charging the same high prices when you dont compete with much better places who have fair prices for what they offer. Maybe the Arepa Republic is better as curiosity food truck item.

Reviewing their food truck. We did not enjoy anything we got: Empenadas, taquenos, and arepas. Everything was dripping in oil. The price is also insane, so expensive. No wonder they do not list the prices on their boards. The wait was so so long. The flavour: the dough was sweet for some reason, over fried and very greasy. The beef was dry in the arepa, the chorizo was not good at all and the chicken empanada was mushy. The taste is unlike anything I ever had from other authentic establishments. Its edible, but not good.

The Arepas and Tequeños tasted good. The only gripe I have is the value vs size does not reflect well. I think the Arepas and Tequeños should be able to be put into a combo. The two together alone is over $30 which is too much for what it is in a industrial area.

I needed to come over here to give my review to this magnifique restaurant. I ordered from Arepa Republic to have delivered to my workplace a relatively high volume of Tostones (32). They did it with an impeccable punctuality, once I saw the product I could observe the high quality in which they finish it, from packaging to the presentation of the meal was remarkably good. The taste was outstanding. Cant wait to visit and try out their other items on the menu! Vegetarian options: Tostones and sauces are wonderful with no doubt!

The service is very good. Everyone is very friendly. However, the quality and quantity of the food has changed, and the prices are very expensive. I think $18 for an arepa is too much, plus the arepas are smaller than before. I went with my son to eat yesterday. We ordered two arepas and two portions of tequeños and paid almost $90 including drinks. Definitely very expensive.

There are some benches outside if weather is good you can eat there. Also we asked not to have the sauces on top of the patacón and cachapas and they put it anyways.

Tried the pabellon arepa and the beef epinada at the Woodbine Food Truck Festival. Not sure if this reflects how they normally serve their food in house but: 1) the pabellon was a bigger portion than you think it is however the flavours seemed to be a little too mild. 2) the epinada was deep fried and was super oily. It was all dough and very little beef. I was pretty much eating dough and dry (possible overcooked) ground beef. 3) both of those for a total of $23 and the wait for the food was quite long. 20 mins for food truck food is too long, in my opinion. I would definitely not return to an Arepa Republic food truck.

After doing my research, I suspect that they are not actually serving halal meat. I have reached out the them via their social media and they said their supplier is world meats. However I don t see any halal meat coming from this supplier but I do see pork products. I hope this was not an intentional decision but something less serious. Good afternoon, I am not a person to write here. Trying to give a friend a birthday gift with our food, I asked to make some mini arepas and mini tequenos. They gave me the owners number and I placed the order. I went to pick it up and it turned out it wasnt there because the owner forgot. The best thing of all is that the person serving tells me that he can make it in 15 minutes if I want to wait, talking about the order he confirms that he can make the mini arepas and how many empanadas. Well, it turns out that he doesnt know. I answer that you dont know how the packages come. Repeat, dont tell me. The best thing of all was that at no time was there an apology. If you dont know how we do it. If you dont know what you work here, its better not to come back so as not to eat something that those who work there dont know. His GREAT RESPONSE WAS. IF YOU WANT, YOU GO FOR ONE. Incredible. WE COULD CALL THAT GOOD SERVICE

Serving sizes are quite small for the price and quality. The shredded flank steak was flavorless and boiled or watery tasting. The empanadas were so oily a pool of oil formed at the bottom of the takeout container. See picture. The flavor of the filling was good, but the oiliness spoilt the experience. Overall think bad hot table quality priced at premium levels, with oil puddles.

Went to the food truck at Hillcrest mall, and it was the worst sandwich I have ever tasted. It was all store bought shredded cheese, with unsalted meat and zero sauce. It had no flavour, and all for 15$. The sugar cane lemonade was disgusting - it had definitely gone bad. Never coming here again

I love the food here, especially the reina pepiada arepa, and the tequenõs! For those unfamiliar with Venezuelan cuisine, that s basically a chicken and avocado sandwich in a fresh-made corn-bun (arepa), and a pastry filled with white cheese (tequenõs). Great meat options too! Do note that this is not a fast-food restaurant, so don t walk in expecting fast-food prices, but it does specialize in take-away, not sit-down dining.

I believe this is the company that was at the hops and harvest festival. Ive been waiting for two years to try their food truck... and it was such a let down. The quality of the food was poor, they ran out of ingredients mid afternoon, they were cold, soggy, the meat was tough. This letdown cost me $60. Dont go to their food truck, go somewhere else.

The truth is that it seems very expensive for the quality. Buy several things Delicious empanadas but they were too big in cubes and very greasy and also too salty. Tequeños if they are recommended 5 Arepas a lot of meat but small for the prices The very delicious little pieces 5 Frozen things bad experience Plantain arepas I do not recommend

The food is good. My only comment would be the issue of the Rooms. The garlic sauce tasted like pure mayonnaise... the garlic was left somewhere else. The girl who served us brings me the sauces and a knife so I can open it if the tip of the container is covered... sorry, but that is HER job to make sure everything is in Optimal condition. More attention to details my people

The taqenos etc are excellent but they make it almost impossible to buy anything without going to the store and waiting 30-40 minutes. The numbers listed online simply give you another number to call but the message cannot be understood. Skip the dishes is listed as their online ordering but it does not work either. PLEASE fix this so people can but your delicious food !!!

Being married to a Venezuelan I ve tried every Venezuelan restaurant in Toronto. I can say without a doubt this is not only the best tasting of all of them, but also the place to go for above and beyond customer service. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the time I went without my wife they made suggestions on food to try. I m also one who likes to have sauce with my Arepa s and Empanadas, and I can say hands down, they have the best Venezuelan garlic sauce in the city. What s awesome is their food trucks are the same for service and taste as the restaurant. Important piece of advice, try the tequeños! Those are not any ordinary cheese stick. They are the greatest combination of cheese and dough one can ask for.

The meat filling was completely dry, the corn bread too did not taste that great. The place looks clean though. In my opinion it is highly overrated. Not the best place to have arepas in town. So please dont judge arepas un general based on the experience here

Terrible customer service. The food is good enough. But the customer service and delivery time is terrible. We ordered and it took them 2 hour to deliver it. When they arrive they did not want to bring it to my apartment after all the wait. It seems pretty expensive for the really bad customer.

I just went for the 1st time. The arepas are ok. Theyre tasty. They also sell platters, but for 18$ its si not worth it, platters are small b trays with like a spoon of rice, a spoon of beans, a spoon of meat, you get the picture. Dont get a platter, youll be disappointed and possible upset when you see what you actually get. Theyre also suuuuuuper slow. I dont understand this part. The arepas are ready and warm, the meat or fillings are ready and warm, and all toppings are also ready. I wanted another separate are arepa to go, they told me would take like 20 min because they had 3 orders ahead of me. Come on. Its not rocket science. And Ive made gorditas with everything ready. Theyre just slow. They have to up their game. Is just like assembling a fast food burger, its ridiculous they take long to do.

Was an authentic Venezuelian place, but they used too much salt in the Arepas and the stuffing had too much garlic. Lastly the prices were crazy high, a small arepa for 13 bucks and 6 bucks for a small order of yucca fries. Wow.

I was very dissapointed. I took many of my friends to this place and always was a very good experience. Last time a went the arenas were smaller saltier not crunchy as they used to be and dry. Not near delicious as the areas before. Also I like to put the sauces they have on the arepas and now they put a waterly sauce that I dont even put on my arepa because did not have any flavor. Very bad experience. Not returning and Im going to advice my friends to avoid the bad experience.

December 21, 2020

Incredibly disappointed. Had been coming here for years and was a regular customer that always enjoyed both arepa and appetizers. Ordered today and was honestly shocked when I opened the box as the arepa looked like it was made to be an appetizer. It is not even half the size it used to be and they are still charging $13. It is evident that the quality of the ingredients has decreased, for example the cheese is not good and the texture of the arepa not good. The side sauces are also tasteless, they used to be delicious! Won t be returning as I cannot justify paying $13 for an arepa that should be at most $5 due to the TINY size. This is so sad because this place was great for a long time, even recommended it to friends and family as the best arepa spot in the city but this is no longer the case.

December 21, 2020

First time trying this place, I think is really overpriced, I bought empanadas for $6 dollars each , when I bought at different restaurant empanadas the same size for $4 . But it was close so I had to go to the arepa republic empanadas were ok , very thick tho , and flavor was not what I was expecting.. I would ve order more stuff but just the empanadas were already $24 so I don t think I ll be coming back to this place or recommend it ... it s way too expensive at least have a deal.!
