Aunthentic West African Cuisine
I recently dined at the African chop bar, and it was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the menu features a great selection of traditional African dishes that are full of flavor. The service was top-notch, especially from the beautiful and respectful lady at the front desk, whose friendly smile made me and friends feel right at home. See you guys soon. I highly recommend the African chop bar for anyone looking to enjoy delicious food and excellent hospitality.
A friend recommended it to me I was actually sick and was told to get a light soup and eat. I said let me order a light soup and fufu, it tasted very nice but to me it was very salty to the extent that I wasn’t able to eat it this is actually my first time of buying food from you. I know it sometimes happens but it is all good.
I had a terrible experience with the food. It used to be fresh, but they've clearly changed something. The fish I had yesterday made me seriously ill, and it felt like a health hazard. The oil also seemed like it had been reused too many times. I will never eat there again, and I hope public health inspects this location soon. The worker are so unprofessional !! I wish google can allow me the picture of what I threw up . In less than 1 hour eating this food .
Honestly, their kelewele is disappointing. I couldn't eat it and had to throw it away, which is really unfortunate. However, the waakye is quite good.
Hands down, best Ghanaian food in the area! It tastes homemade and the chef took the time. Food came out in a timely manner. Price to food portion ratio could improve, otherwise, no complaints! Will return soon.
I love the goat the most delicious dish for me sometimes they gives less because everyone wants to be a millionaire overnight by robbing each others small amounts for more one year ago was more than for less now less than for more it’s every where but I love chop bar they food is good I am a chef so I can tell u appreciate ur hard work
Try their Jollof and peppered goat. If you don’t like it, I’ll pay for it. It’s the best jollof I’ve had ever had.
For the price they charge for their food, they need to give better service, more food (better presentation). Bought waakiye and it was skimpy portions rude service on the phone and in person! Here are the pictures before I touched the food.
Poor customer service, the girl would be licking her fingers and eating whiles taking orders I wouldn t hire someone like that to even be a janitor!she act like she s helping you but it s 50/50 if I don t come there you wouldn t get paid!this place is really terrible you see a bunch of customers surrounded by the counter talking and spitting on people s food meanwhile there s a seat, too local this is not Ghana they should do better, also I wish the girl can dress up one day and go to other restaurants and learn how to treat clients
I have been eating from this restaurant for the past 4 years and it s amazingly delicious. My favourite is jollof and tilapia. I recommend it to everyone who wants to try gh/african dishes
Food tastes good. Had jollof rice and Tilapia. Tilapia was well seasoned and jollof tastes amazing. Overall 10/10
Very bad behaviour of staff
Took an 2hours before I got my food
Best restaurant the African restaurant in Toronto
I really love this restaurant. Every meal on their menu slaps.
Garbage
Pls do not buy beef suya from this place, its an embarrassment especially if it would be your first time trying suya, Its thin flakes of meat one cant even be certain is beef supposedly grilled but must be on a very dirty grill with not trace of suya spice and an awful smell. So disgusting, I cant even contain myself, absolutely inedible and shdnt be served to a human. This would be my third time getting a very bad one and I gave it another try the previous times believing it was just a bad day but 3rd time is the worst and is my last time ordering smh
Excellent fufu and jollof the Ghanaian way... The best way!
The waakye I ordered came with no stew or shito at all. Not sure why.
poor sarvice for food deliverys
I really like your food but there is mostly faults in the food I bought kenkey today and the fish is spoilt The food cost like 30 dollar so why should you give me a spoilt fish I called one day and one of your stuffs were warning me I can take a picture of the fisk for you
This restaurant has lack of customer service they lie about their timing I ordered on Uber eats and they took two hours to prepare my food and had the delivery person waited for about 30 minutes and also the food is not The best the never order waakye from them. I ve tried to give them so many chances because where I live we don t have Ghanaian restaurants around me but I m gonna have to stop ordering from them.
Been in toronto for a few years now and its difficult to find ghanaian food that tastes like the one back home. their waakye is top tier
Great Food
Good good. Go to place for attieke too
Bought bread twice from them and they were all spoilt
everything about this place is delicious. by far the best ghanaian food in the gta medaase!!
The best Ghanaian food in the city, everyone that is Ghanaian should try this place!!! You have found a new fan!!! Black stars away!
The food was terrible
Real african taste
I haven t tasted the food yet but I m already happy. The customer service in many African stores has always been harsh. But the beautiful girl at the front was top tear. The prices are understandable.
That kid at the checkout is mad disrespectful. You gotta coach her on how to deliver good customer services, she s been like this since started. Very unprofessional
This food was so good authentic I got the jollof rice so amazing I got the Waakey amazing!!! plantains perfect !the only thing?is the portion size is kind of small but overall best Ghanaian food I ve had .QUALITY !!
Service is good
My friend Leo brought me here to this food. It was my first time trying fufu. I can now die happy.
Great food and excellent service. This place is legit the best African restaurant in Toronto
All your African food
I ordered fufu, man was it one of the best bowls of fufu I ever had. Very big portions it was just amazing
I came here with my family after church one Sunday, and absolutely loved the environment. The staff and manager were so welcoming, and even showed us to their lower level so we can chop in comfort. I had the Waakye, everything was proportioned well and tasted great. Will definitely come back again
The food was ok, but the service was awful. I will not return to this establishment
Parking: Awesome Food
Yam and choffi is awesome
Delivery was so fast .....the food taste good
We really enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. Great little jem with authentic West African food!
Excellent food.
Very unprofessional, but food is good
The past 2 times I ve had waakye at this restaurant the rice has been mushy. I ve been very disappointed. I also feel the customer service could be better. You need to have better customer service. People can tell when your customer service is bad based off even when you answer the phone. Please do your waakye bettwr because the last 2 times I ve had it , the rice has been wayyyo mushy.
Amazing food and customer service for both dine in and takeout.
Best Ghanaian food in the city dieho was the best , jollof is too good and pepper goat/ grilled tilapia is beatinggg
Staff was welcoming and the food was delicious. We ordered the talapia, goat fufu, beef fufu, and kelewele.
Great place for Ghanaian food and snacks
Good was food. Well seasoned. Very welcoming S/O to uncle at the cashier! I enjoyed my red red and beans I will be coming back! The fried rice was delicious as well !
First try and it was Great customer service, food tastes really good too. I recommend
Always on point!
One word to say DELICIOUS!!!! I ve been to this restaurant many times and not ONCe Have they failed me! 10/10 best jollof I ve ever had in a restaurant! Like everything is amazing I love the food
Small portions and expensive. Tasty though
I just ordered on UBEREATS and I had to review here. The food is delicious and the packaging is fantastic. Tasty and well presented and the portions are large too. I will definitely reorder!! Well done
Listen yal, Im so eager to try this spot...and even came to check the reviews for ideas, was so happy to see the engagement from the restaurant to its patrons, saying they are welcome to calls and questions...BUT ARE THEY? I just called and the reception I received...hella lacking! She wasnt really open to helping me out, atall! It was almost comical. I ended the call w no worries, i will sort it out myself. I literally only called based on the feedback listed in the reviews. Now Im jus trying to save others from the embarassment. Let me throw caution to the wind and just have at it, as planned, prior to being fooled by comments in reviews ****Update!****** Had to pass back through and provide a better rating after Mercy (store owner or manager) came through w the check-in. Amazing customer service will always smooth over hiccups! True to my word tho, I still placed an order several hours later. Mercys call came after I had already placed my order (in hindsight, I think I needed the assistance and really shouldve added a rice or fish dish. next time). I went w Banku w okro & goat soup/stew, Fufu in light soup w beef, and fried yam & pepper sauce... The item I thought Id really dig wasnt the one for me, lol...I REALLY enjoyed the Fufu & light soup and the fried yam w pepper sauce. The Banku w okro soup, wasnt as rich in flavor as I expected but the textures were fun, especially for eating w your hands. I think my other qualm is more of a preference, I prefer meat more seasoned, flavorable and a lil more fall of the bone (esp if in a soup or stew, unlike what i experienced in these dishes). Overall a great experience and entry into Ghanian food. I will definitely have to try the Jollof rice, Wakye, and or fried fish another time Thank you @Blackfoodie.co for showcasing this restaurant on Instagram
Good place
FOOD IS DELICIOUS!
Had the peper goat
Had the chance to visit this African restaurant. They do take outs. You can order from Uber eats.
Their food is nice and their timing was good. Very tasty, try their food and you will agree with me on what I have said.
Omg! How I wish I had read reviews on this place before attempting to even purchase any food item from them.I will give zero Star if there was a way to.First of all their food and other items there are cut throat prices. So overpriced with nothing to write home about food quality. I made the mistake of my life and settled on buying Duohuo or Tuo Zaafi from this place ,waited double the time they promised to make food ready and finally it .The dough part of the food was made fresh but the soup as well as meat that came with it was the worst I had ever seen. The soup had a bad smell and colour was scary dark with burnt aroma to it. The beef, liver or whatever it was and fish in the soup were like a week or two old.I tried to eat it but upon my first attempt , I threw up and dumped the whole food in the trash. For a Ghanaian food place,I am beyond disappointed. My worst food experience ever for sure.Stay away from this food place If you care about your health.Absoulety disgusting and shameful.
I am a regular customer here, there was a day I bought food from this wonderful restaurant, and some items were missing. The owner had to drive down personally to deliver the missing item to my house. The owners are very friendly and nice people and care about customer satisfaction, they have excellent food, the best in town. However, I am rating you 1 star today because of the RUDE and MANNERLESS little girl you have at the front desk. She doesnt know any damn thing about customer service, she talks to customers as she pleases with total DISRESPECT and utmost IMPUNITY. I hope you put her more in the kitchen, where she doesnt have contact with customers, until she has learnt the rudiments of customer service. Such a rude girl should not be the face of one of the BEST AFRICAN RESTAURANTS in Toronto.
Am African and I eat good food.
The food is very good, I bought from there a few times. The first time I got the bottom part of the pan rice but the food was good so it was okay, other times the food was good too. I made a recommendation to my friend and she purchased there as well. For 19 dollars the food was so small I was surprised. We understand that the economy is hard right now so you have to raise your prices. What I do not understand is giving less and still increasing the price. At this point some of these businesses are making it harder to fully support them and it is really sad. This is the 2nd Ghanian restaurant I can no longer support and its not because the food is bad but because of the cut backs and price gouging. O well . Edit; to the owners the price increase nor the tax is the issue, it is the fact that with the price increase the quantity has been decreased. I dont mind paying the price increase or the taxes if the quantity wasnt such a small portion. No one wants to pay more in return to pay less. Pls address that portion properly as I paid the price and it wasnt a problem. The Quantity however was an issue.
Great customer experience. Tried fufu for the first time and they tried their best . Food was good and experience was amazing
Hands down one of the best jollof places
Nice place
I love African Chop Bar. Always good food and friendly service. One thing I will say is that the wait time is a little bit long but the food is definitely worth it....
UNBELIEVABLE>. Celiac Safe, they even called to let me know what i COULDNt eat? WOW. i am ordering every day until i gain 5 pounds #celiacsafe #best #customercentric #realfood #feedyoursoul BEST EVER #butterloves #izzyloves #ButterIzKingAPPROVED
Food is overpriced with small portions
Best jollof Ive ever tasted.
Best jollof rice in toronto
Amazing food and great customer service.
Alot of India
This place has a great variety of food. The Suya is a great hit. Dont forget to try the Jollof rice. You will not regret it at all.
I purchased the Waakye Rice, First of all, the black styrofoam container screams I am black and I am proud, that touched my soul! When I opened the lid, a single tear drop fell from my eye, why you may ask? It was from the onion, it was the sensation you feel when you cut the onion fresh so I can tell these people get A1 material (god bless them), the way they placed the salad inside this meal made me understand that they care about presentation. The rice was lovely and the shito *muahhhhh* my complements to the chef, not too hot, and not too mild, shucks call me Goldilocks because this whole meal was just right!
I have one problem...do yall actually close at 11? Its pointless to have a scheduled closing time but always close 30 minutes to an hour earlier
After failing to obey what I requested, they still went ahead and placed my order in an oily back and spoilt my car seat and file with oil. I regret going there today.
I like your food but please put some momoni and koobi in the okro soup for a real feel of Africa.
Very clean, friendly atmosphere and excellent service
Quality food. The food here tastes amazing and the customer service is fabulous. Its also very clean.
This restaurant never disappointments. Their customer service is always top notch! I highly, highly recommend.
The only reason I m rewriting my review is because you genuinely make the best Ghanian jollof among all the Ghanian restaurants here. Diminishing your hard work and recipe consistency would be unfair. However You still did not answer my question why some staffs charge 16 dollars when I pick up and some charge 19. I have tried to find answers but no one gives me the answers I m looking for. I don t like discrepancies, I appreciate uniformity, but I can understand your point of view. Thanks though.
Do not go to this restaurant I order waakye the rice was spoiled. I have to throw the whole food out because this is how bad it was. And the stew for the waakye no taste.
Since I moved to the east I haven t had a chance to order here but when I was living in the west end, I ordered here at least once a week to treat myself. The food is so good. One time I called to thank them because they never disappoint and the food is just good. Heading there today to finally get my cravings fixed :)
I got one word for this place, DELICIOUS!!!!
Quick fast food
Loved the banku
Best Ghanaian food in the city.
Wait time too long, no apology
I love cooking Ghanaian dishes and aside specialty ones like diehuo people have enjoyed my cooking. So today wishing I could get some tasty Ghanaian food but not in the cooking mode I stared disappointingly at the restaurants under African in skip the dishes (note this has to do with the postal code) till I came across African Chop Bar; I got happier as I saw the selection available. Living far I decided to go all out and sample a wide range. Calling them directly (to inquire further), I was pleased with the voice on the other end of the phone-energetic and welcoming. Being very particular I thought I will probably have to tweak the cooked food to suit my taste. I WILL BUY AGAIN!!! When I went to pick up my food the reception was just like the voice-positive energy and welcoming, the presentation was excellent the food tasted real good (no tweaking AT ALL required) - goat soup may be spicy for some but I am sure you can request milder. The most important to me was how everything tasted fresh. Even the drinks are made on site. I particularly love the pineapple -ginger drink. Great job! Please keep it up.
Best, tasty, fresh, large portions. Love this place!!!
Great I enjoyed their banku with groundout soup
Authetic Ghanaian food! Very delicious. Their waakye and jollof are top notch
I bought their TZ and the soup was very salty!!!!! This was two weeks ago, I said let me try something else bought their wakye and it was soo dry!!!! I had to throw everything in the garbage!!!
Heard about their wave making jollof rice and wanted to testify myself and so ordered for jollof rice and chicken with suya Goat on the side . The blend of the flavors was perfect, almost heavenly! Service just splendid specially customer service. The overall place, its explicitly grand ambience, the warm inviting food and the celebrity like special treatment will definitely make you want to go back in time and go through the wonderful experience all over again. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great
They have the best food
Great place great food
My daughter a student of York university ordered food and within two minutes cancelled the order so she could order a different meal. She was told this was not possible and that she cant get her money back and the original order was also not delivered. What happened to consumer rights?
Great food
Great food and Friendly People
Pretty large portions. Friendly overall. I look forward to going back soon
A very nice and friendly restaurant. My puff puff and attieke with fish was delicious!!
Great owner with a calm habit and very nice human being.
