The Italian restaurant you always wished was just around the corner is delighted to meet you! If there is a common thread that runs through Piano Piano, it’s a deep-seated soulfulness and sensuality that is at once warm, welcoming and just plain fun.
Nice restaurant but the service was pretty terrible when we went. Substitutions for a dietary restriction was ignored, ordered a pizza but didn’t get it (they didn’t charge but we wanted the pizza). Anyway this might not be the norm, but that was our experience. Maybe the Toronto location has better service.
The food came out suuuuuper fast!!!!! Like under ten minutes on a busy Sunday night at 7pm. Everyone who worked there was kind and thoughtful. As soon as my water glass was low, someone was there to fill it up again!! Outstanding ambience, amid the subtle bustle of the restaurant, you could barely hear other people but I could hear my dinner date perfectly!! The food was really yummy, I really want to come back to try more. Not pictured is the lemon cheesecake because I forgot to take a picture because I was too busy devouring it. Will come back for that alone!!!
Very nice restaurant! I had a Cesar salad which was so delicious, fresh ingredients, specially I loved the taste of the cheese. The pizza was so amazing as well. The place itself is lovely, even the details in the bathroom very cute.
It was my partner birthday 🎂 and I made reservations at this lovely restaurant . Wow! I have to say it was amazing experience. Starting from the lovely waitress- Amy who was very nice and knowledgeable and whit beautiful smile. Elegant interior, small and very comfortable seating area. Food very delicious and beautiful presented. Price was very impressed. Totally recommend it for every occasion.
I came here back in August with my sister for lunch, and I'm still thinking about that meal. I did not know that you could make grapes savoury or that roasting them would have such a fun flavour and texture. And don't even get me started on the ravioli! They are huge so there was no doubt if I'd be hungry at the end of my meal and unbelievably rich. The pasta was cooked beautifully and seasoned to perfection. The bread as well was a great addition to the app and main. I ended my meal with the tiramisu which was light and not overly sweet. Everything was delicious. We'd gladly dine here again.
I had the pleasure of dining here for lunch yesterday. The location is on a lovely downtown corner with plenty of parking nearby. The staff were very welcoming, our waiter was fabulous and friendly, the interior space is warm and inviting, the menu selection/cocktails and food…superb! You have to try the Hornet pizza!!! The cappuccino…devine! A perfect afternoon in the heart of beautiful Oakville.
We were celebrating my birthday and we were welcomed with complimentary Prosecco, smiles and birthday wishes. That itself set a tone of the night. Food, service and atmosphere were at the highest level. I highly recommend Lemon Cheesecake 🥂. Thank you for great experience Piano Piano!
Great tasting food and a lovely ambiance. Our server Dominique was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. It was our first time here but won't be the last! The pizza crust has the perfect amount of chew! I usually don't eat the crust but I ate this one. It was a nice surprise when we got a complimentary of prosecco as we had a celebration. They also have a good variety of mocktails.
Steaks were a little cold Service was great
If you have a food allergy, please stay away from this location. Long story short, I told the waitress numerous times about an allergy, and was still served food with the ingredient. When the waitress was made aware of this, she did not seem to care. I went home, emailed the establishment privately, and was not contacted even for an apology. Maybe a public review will force an apology. Please stay away from here. They do not care about you.
Our waiter was more worried about a table with young woman than taking our order and getting it right. It was my wifes birthday and she picked this place and was very disappointed. The meatballs had Grisel in them and were not very good.. Unfortunately we have a gift coupon and have to go back other wise would never go back . They did cook the pasta right . The Calamari had only 3 pieces in it and a lot of oil in the plate and pieces of batter .
Beautiful decor, good ambience, delicious food
An Italian friend recommended it as a good restaurant. I took my kids for lunch. The ingredients were good, but the taste and presentation were really mediocre. The waiter was pretty good, lukewarm. The lunch set for 36 is very cost-effective. The coffee tastes good, but the sugar is also lumpy... The bathroom style is good, but there is a spider web on the lampshade... A restaurant with a very mixed feel
Fantastic evening celebrating friends birthdays! Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. The Eggplant Parmesan was one of the best Ive ever had. Looking forward to returning! Food : 5/5
Service is slow (took 15 mins before anyone came to the table, another 10 mins for water) portions are smaller than ever, and food took 45 mins to come. Food was good though
You enjoy more than you pay .
We went out for dinner at Piano Piano (120 Thomas Street in Oakville) last night to celebrate a milestone birthday. It was such a wonderful experience for me! I had been there once before and had found the staff very celiac aware and the food delicious. Last night there were 8 of us and I was the only celiac in the group. We decided to do the family style 4-course dinner that is on their menu and it did not disappoint! With every course, the wait staff identified which dishes were safe for me and which ones were off limits. There were always lots of options for me and the food was amazing! Everyone enjoyed the meal. There was lots of food and everything was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. Dietary restrictions: Celiac
Honestly disappointed, I went to this location 3 times before writing this review because I wanted to give it a chance due to the hype. Although the service is good, and the atmosphere and decor is really nice, the food is just not good. Extremely over priced for bland dishes! I ve tried multiple pasta dishes they all lack flavour, pizza is okay but also dry and lacks flavour, appetizers were disappointing, main dishes such as the half chicken was such a major let down for a almost 40$ half chicken which you have to pay an additional almost 20$ just to get a side with it such as potatoes (why does the plate not already come with a side) everything lacked flavour and was dry. Even though the side potatoes come with a sauce it was somehow still dry? Sauce to potato ratio was not right. I just think every dish has so much potential and there is lots of room for improvement , for Italian food it s not hard to get right especially for the insane prices I expected much better!
How wildly inappropriate is it to charge your patrons FOUR DOLLARS for a dipping sauce?! A simple RANCH dipping sauce. FOOOOOUUURRRRR DOLLARS!! How outrageously greedy can you get?! Food
Expected piano music, instead of loud R&B. Mediocre soggy pizze. There wasnt vinegar nor oil on table, as the salad is served already overly seasoned. Italian?, not really.
We came here last night for my daughters birthday. We had a reservation for ten and they gave us a semi private room upstairs. We always struggle with family gatherings because we are a large group with small kids - but since we had our own space, it allowed us to not bother anyone else. The waitress (rachel) was great. She was attentive, had full knowledge of the menu, gave us amazing suggestions, and was always there at the right time to take new orders or change plates. She was a great waitress and did an amazing job taking care of our family. The food was great and the ambience was super cozy! Lobster pasta and the rib eye were just as rachel recommended - amazing! Thanks for a wonderful night and we will be visiting again soon! Kid-friendliness: Great!
The atomosphere in the restaurant was good and the food was very tasty.
Went there for a friend s birthday, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Not the food, THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE! Would not recommend at all! Try other places around that offer a better service and don t ruin your birthday experience.
Service was lackluster. Our server was a female with blonde curly hair on Friday night upstairs. She was forgetful and only offered cracked pepper while we were already halfway done eating our food. Didnt offer Parmesan cheese either or didnt stop to ask if we needed anything. She also forgot we ordered desserts and we waited a really long time for the bill. Felt like our table was an afterthought.
We eat out every weekend, our visit to this restaurant was our third time just to see if anything has changed but unfortunately same and the same and the same, especially food and doesnt matter what you order as we did those three different times I think it was our last time going to this restaurant
Decent food and atmosphere, service was quite unattentive. The waitress didn t tell us the specials - we found them out after we ordered. Our drinks were empty for half of our meal. We were there for my birthday, which my wife had informed them of. The table next to us got a tiramisu for a birthday, as well as another near us. So I didn t order a dessert (anticipating the tiramisu) which didn t come. Only the bill. Boo.
So, if you want to book for a group, lets say 6 people. Credit card down to reseve the spot. Ok, fair. But then a 25 dollar charge for any no-shows, per person... Well, one cant be responsible for large groups if one or two cant come at the last minute. Common man ... 4 other italian restaurants in the area to choose from that dont ask for this ridiculousness Passed on the reservation
Went last Sunday, we were a party of four, and overall the experience was OK. Server was good, explained everything including seasonal specials. Ordered the shrimp cocktail and received 4 very small shrimps which were served at room temperature. Not the greatest. Main I had the Ravioli which was $28 for three raviolis which were floating a very oily bolognese sauce and was served an a very small plate. The portion size was an appetizer at best and not a main dish. Ordered 4 coffees along with our dessert; dessert came right away but the coffees took over 20 minutes to arrive. The coffees were taken off the bill as a result. Lastly, and my favourite, ordered an iced tea and was given an unopened can of Nestea and a water class; for $5.00. Unfortunately the high prices and small portions will leave you hungry when it is all said and done.
Best Pizza!
Grace was amazing. Best server that we have ever had. Family went for a birthday celebration and she made a great experience, amazong
It was okay, towards the end of our meal servers switched out not sure where ours went but a few things were not cleared off the bill as spoken about. Left the restaurant, during my drive I questioned why the meal was so expensive I then looked into it and was charged for the items. I called the restaurant to notify them the manager told me she just got on shift and would look into. She then said she would send a gift card as she found the bill had not been modified. She indicated it would be sent via email. A week goes by still no gift card I called to look into it, the same manager told me her system was down and she was not able to send me a gift card yet and that she would when she could. A few days pass by and still nothing, I emailed to say hey- have not received anything and had no response. I am writing this because for someone to pay $191 for L U N C H and leave a great tip I am extreme dissatisfied with this type of customer service. Thankfully they do no work for my company.
Nice atmosphere, tasty food and good service.
We had a group of four for dinner on a Saturday evening at 6:00 PM and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit (reservation a must.) The food and service was good. My only complaint was with desert; options weren t overly appealing IMO. I opted for the tiramisu, which is among my favourite choice usually, however this one did not at all resemble one. They use Nutella, and the espresso flavour was not prevalent at all. If you re a fan of tiramisu, I would advise against getting it, otherwise, you ll be in for a pleasant evening. Our bill was $350 with four appetizers, four entrees and two deserts plus a bottle of wine.
Im a regular customer a Piano Piano, today we called at 6:30 and they said you can walk in without reservation at 7:30, when we arrived at 7:30 the host asked us if we have reservation we informed her that we called and you said we can walk in, she said : ya at the bar. I told her I m wearing Hijab and I cant set at the bar she said for walk ins its at the bar (knowing that the restaurant was quite empty only few tables were equipped + there is availability to reserve online lol) very disappointed
Such a beautiful restaurant with delicious food. We enjoyed our experience. Be sure to book 2 weeks ahead and confirm your seating because its not possible to add seats.
One of our favourite places to eat downtown Oakville. Our favs are the calamari, chop salad, and the Sweet Hornet Pizza.
Love this place! The food and atmosphere are sooo good
They have great mocktail choices. The appetizer and entree were fantastic. I have had better Tiramisu at other restaurants. I like the decor and atmosphere. Service was great.
Fantastic table/booth for 5. Exceptional lunch. 10/10 would recommend. Egg yolk ravioli was top notch. Parking: Sundays parking is free but it took forever to find a spot.
Loved this spot. Decor, food, service, atmosphere
Thank you gar heart ( hope I spelled that right) for such an amazing experience and for making that remix of your signature drink. Service was amazing food was amazing and so was the Nutella tiramisu. 10/10 experience. Would highly recommend for anyone to try.
Great restaurant, food was amazing, fresh & wonderful flavours. Look forward to visiting again soon. I will be recommending you to everyone!
Nice place food very good and serves excellent
Went here for their Lunch special, everything was delicious. Nice atmosphere, the service was okay.
It was ALRIGHT at best. The pasta portions were small, not as flavoural as I had hoped, and overall pricey for what youre getting. The atmosphere in itself is pretty nice, we paid extra for the booth seats by the bar. It was pretty loud and dim lit in the evening. Regardless, im glad i tried it out, and now know that it isnt worth the hype. DRINKS were nice though. the rosemary negroni is amazing!
I went today with my family to Piano Piano in the Oakville location. In my opinion so far, the Oakville location has been the best service and vibe, I give it % for sure. Our waiter was Gerard, he was amazing, very polite, attentive, always smiling, passed by our table often to see if we are in need of any thing without being intrusive. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very quick to get us whatever we asked for. To be honest he made our experience today better. Also when we came in we were seated by a very beautiful lady that could be the hostess and she was also amazing with the way she treated us when we requested to change from patio to dining room seating before our waiter took over. I know I went on forever but I wanted to say my whole experience for today without missing out on anything else. I would definitely suggest anyone that wants to have good food to go to Piano Piano in Oakville
I want to like this place but cant anymore. I drop by occasionally when we hang out in downtown Oakville, and I see difference quite clearly as i come each time. Their food can be very acidic (chopped kale salad tastes like pure vinegar with a drop of goat cheese, and their tomato sauce needs some sugar/baking soda/carrot method to refuce acidity),pasta portion had been reduced, desserts show minimal effort (massive puff with whipped cream and choco syrup drizzle or graham cracker cheese cake, tiramisu made with store bought nutella taste). For the price, portion has been reduced- pastas and main dishes. Wont be coming back..
We loved this place... top marks
We did take out and I wouldn t recommend it. My daughter s mushroom pasta looked like it was half eaten. Even if you compared it with the other pasta entrees the portion was half the size of the others. Ridiculous for the price. If we were eating there I would. Have complained but not going to drive back to the restaurant to complain. Will just avoid this spot.
Piano Piano nails it with amazing pasta and a fun, unique soft serve ice cream. Perfect for a cozy, flavorful meal!
I recently dined here, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The food was just okay, lacking the flavour and authenticity I was hoping for. However, the service was the real letdown. I had to hunt down the waiter to follow up on items I requested prior, and he took our water bottle away without asking if we wanted refills. The waiter seemed disinterested and unengaged, which made the whole experience worse. I would not recommend this place based on my visit.
Our family of 5 celebrated my husbands 50th birthday with a dinner. Megan, our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and readily answered our question about the portions. We received an on the house Prosecco for our entire party to commemorate my husband s milestone. We ordered Piano, Piano Caesar and the Burrata for antipasti, both were so good. The Caesar dressing was delish. The Burrata paired well with warm grapes. Our entrees include the two Ravioli, Egg Yolk and Bolognese, it was not heavy at all despite the ricotta cheese filling; The Spaniard was tasty as well. We also ordered the boneless ribeye which was so buttery it taste so good with the gravy!!! and the Potatoes Cacio E Pepe as a side order to the Ribeye was heavenly. Last but not the least, the Octopus was so tender and the glazed was delicious. The char on the tentacles was just the right amount of chewy. Service was excellent and soiled dishes were cleared in a timely manner in time for the next course. Washroom was also clean.
Too often do I end up at classic chain restaurants or stopping in for quick bites. The night I came here was a celebration for family and the service and food di not disappoint. Seating was pleasant, the atmosphere was something modern but old. Comfy seating, bright sunshine with the doors open and a nice breeze. Of course with open doors there will be flies but thats not to be unexpected. Our wait team was attentive. Nearby for requests, knowledgeable on the menu with good suggestions of what is popular and what was shareable. We had two starters, 3 entries - a pasta, the rib eye and the octopus for four people and the carrot cake dessert which I basically forced onto my guests. No regrets. There were leftovers surprisingly as well. The potatoes with the steak were delicously crisp and each dish had a sauce that complimented its meal perfectly. The steak (Medium for one of party members) was still well presented, well cut and seasoned perfectly. The egg yolk ravioli was excellent. The carrot cake was so sweet. The ice cream on top in the cone felt weird but it was still good. Would recommend, will come back.
Had a bridal shower here and the food was amazing, it was served family style so we got to try a variety of things throughout the night
The food is always delicious! Must-tries include the whipped ricotta and for dessert the enormous cream puff for two - it is stuffed with vanilla soft serve ice cream and covered in a Nutella sauce, topped with toasted hazelnuts. To die for! And the ambiance - just love it!
Nice little place. Staff was friendly and very helpful. I had the Prosciutto di San Daniele and the sweet hornet pizza. Both were very tasty. Ill totally be back!
I ve been to this location two or three times and had pretty good experiences but this Saturday was the worst experience I ve had dining out in a while, which was disappointing since I d chosen this place to celebrate my birthday with my family. Took about twenty minutes to take our drink order or order. Drinks never arrived. When the food came we had to finally ask to get the drinks we d ordered which for some reason took longer than the food (?? Two diet cokes and an iced tea??). When someone checked on us we asked for more water, which never arrived. We were so irritated we left without asking a second time. Not sure why we should be expected to follow up for drinks a second time, twice. No mention of anything for the birthday, even though I ve been there and our table got a cake slice with sparkler before (and it was indicated on reservation). Awful. Won t be going back to this location anymore.
My mother in law is visiting from overseas so the family wanted to take her to Piano Piano as we have always had a great experience and great food. Unfortunately this was not the case this time as we did not even make it to a seat. We were simply told there were no seats when clearly there was. We even said there are so many outside but were told oh woth the stroller it will get in the way of the staff? So now its available but the stroller is the issue . I an Sorry, but my son needs a stroller and are you saying that anyone with a stroller can never eat there? Especially as we have eaten here outside with our son being in a stroller. We looked past this excuse and said, there is a table right in the corner and we can sit him against the wall out of the way from the staff when proposing that we got a deep breath, and roll of the eyes followed by listen we are really busy right now and in the middle of service so I am not going to argue with you as I have ti get back, so fine take the table in the corner like really? Who would want to stay there now with that attitude. Especially when this guy calls himself a manager. So much for customer service and setting an example to the staff. Hope the staff dont learn from him. We instead bumped in a stranger and told them the story and recommended 7 Enoteca. Food and service were impeccable. Hopefully that manager is not there for long but they have now lost a loyal customer that has made the travel for years but never again.
Wonderful experience, great service and food.
Great staff and great food
Amazing vibe and delicious food!! Piano Piano literally takes you to Italy with their authentic flavours and excellent presentation. The staff is very welcoming and the ambience is impressive. Vegetarian options: This place has something for everyone. You can ask them to remove seafood or meat from anything in the menu and they will accommodate your request!!
Disappointing the pasta is not made fresh or in house. I expected a much closer emulation of authentic Italian/Rome carbonara, and a wine pour extending past the first pour. Good food, higher priced, service & quality doesn t quite support the offering.
Was nice, but charging for tap water gets one star
Fun!
Food and service were amazing. Had the lunch special was is an amazing deal so definitely check it out.
Overall the atmosphere was amazing! Nice place to host a small birthday dinner. We had the blue and gold room which was so cute and private. We did the set menu and it was a good amount of food for 11 people but think more pizza should be given. The service was also very slow. We ended up waiting so long in between the meals and felt like they could have been more attentive. I
I m sure the food is fine, but I wouldn t know because of how incredibly rude and unhelpful the staff are. Tried to walk in and get a seat for two people, which I didn t think would be an issue on an early weekday night but was told they couldn t seat us any where. Weird cause there were plenty of seats inside, outside and even a couple spots at the bar. We were even willing to do the hour wait that was estimated, but was told they weren t taking names for waitlist which I thought was so odd when I could of booked a reservation via google on the spot for that time. They won t have my business and would never ever recommend friends to meet up there in the future for a mid week hang.
Hot Honey Pizza - 10/10
We held a high school reunion here and had the private room upstairs. From beginning to end the service has been stellar. Madison was our server. She was amazing. Love the extra touch of playing 90s music for us!!! We did the family style. So much good food!! Lots of takeout boxes to enjoy. Highly recommend for your private event.
I was really looking forward to the meal, but was underwhelmed. The focaccia was stale oily bread, pasta was good, but overpriced. Service was good.
We came to Piano Piano for our sons graduation. Service and atmosphere were very nice, delicious appetizers. However, we were very disappointed with the Carbonara having no guanciale at all. For a thirty dollar iconic pasta dish, this is unacceptable. The manager did not even try to address the issue, stating that he had no control over the kitchen.
The menu is traditional italian, hit and miss. Individual items are overpriced, so the special is your best bet. The kitchen made a mistake with a meal. The manager didnt even try to address it in any way (Nothing I can do, appreciate your feedback).
I was really looking forward to celebrating my birthday at Piano Piano. Having heard so many great things about the restaurant, I was excited to finally experience it for myself. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that our table was not a priority. We noticed other tables receiving more attention, while our server rarely came around, which led to us having empty drinks for much of the meal. This lack of attentiveness was particularly disappointing given the special occasion. To add to the disappointment, I was told by a friend that was there a couple months ago you will receive a piece of cake with a sparkler, but when it arrived, there was no sparkler. This might seem like a small detail, but it was another letdown on a day that should have felt special. While the food was indeed delicious, the poor service overshadowed the experience. I hope Piano Piano can improve their service to match the quality of their cuisine, especially for guests celebrating special occasions.
Had dinner reservations here this past Friday for the first time and it was excellent. Our server was named Rachel and we were seated in one of the upstairs rooms, though the room was kinda small and dim compared to the other dining rooms, the overall restaurant is built into a house and the atmosphere was chic! Rachel was attentive, personable and so genuinely nice. We had our shared appetizers which were great and for whatever reason our entrees were very late. Rachel noticed, apologized, got to the bottom of the problem (the orders were inputted almost 40 mins prior and got lost?) and immediately notified management. We were given a couple complimentary sides and even a few complimentary desserts! Everything was delicious and so glad we got to try many things. We really appreciated our server and how much she advocated for us and it made a world of difference in what could ve been a sour first impression. I ve dined at the colbourne location a few times for special occasions but we ll definitely be now visiting Oakville instead because of how well we were treated! Parking: Downtown Oakville has limited paid street/lot parking, give yourself ample time to find a spot!
Had the opportunity to try their dinner special - 3 course meal for $48 per person. Worth the price!! Everything was very delicious, highly recommend to book a reservation
We were asked to move tables after being seated and settled in. I had requested a booth when I made the reservation as we were celebrating, however there were allegedly no notes about this, even though we got seated as requested initially. The table we were moved to had a ripped menu with burn marks, which was offputting. The service was slow, our waitress was inattentive and we had to wait 15 minutes just for the bill.. I ordered the egg ravioli and it was extremely salty. The bread accompanying the pasta was cold as if it had been sitting there for a while. Not impressed. The piano spritz and Caesar salad were tasty, and the ambiance/design of the restaurant was nice. However due to the poor service and subpar food, we will not be back.
My girlfriend and I have been to Piano Piano 3 times now and have loved every experience. Amy has been our server every time and has absolutely nailed it every time. She has fantastic recommendations and is a joy to talk to. If you re thinking about dining here, ask for Amy!
This was our first time coming here, as our anniversary dinner as well. We tried the Octopuss, which was incredible. Cooked to perfection with the perfect accomplished sides. The cocktails, in particular the last flight to venice and southern charm, were both good enough to make us decide to come back again soon. Dietary restrictions: I am celiac and they were very accommodating, the gluten free pasta was so delicious- better than other options i have had in the past!
Rachel is amazing! She s so happy and kind and made our night so incredible.
As a passionate food lover, PIANO PIANO definitely takes the top 5 spot in my books. From the Pizza To Pasta is so good and will definitely make your mouth water. I would definitely recommend the Mushroom Cavateli and the Sweet Hornet Pizza. And Of course you can t forget about the desert. The Nutella Tiramisu is so die for. All in all, PIANO PIANO, best Italian food in Oakville.
If you re looking for delicious, affordable food with a vintage and high-end atmosphere, PLEASE TRY THIS PLACE OUT!!!! My boyfriend and I always choose piano piano as our go-to for date nights and nights downtown. The food is consistently amazing and the ever-changing seasonal menus never disappoint. The atmosphere delivers an antique, picturesque feel and makes the experience so much more unique and special. I brought my two friends here last night and we bugged the waitress to seat us in a nicer both and she was totally nice about it! (Although I never encourage arguing with hosts about where you are sat- as a former FOH worker.) ;) But seriously, try it and you will love it! Service, food, AND atmosphere are all out of this world. Super great place, i d recommend to anyone! Dietary restrictions: Each visit, our waiter has made sure to ask if anyone has allergies before sending orders in!
I dont know why Ive never been here. The food is delicious. My favorite thing was the pizza with mushrooms! But we loved everything we had.
No free bread
Sadly, the place has gone a little downhill since opening a couple years ago. The atmosphere on the main level is quite nice, but upstairs has the feel of a British pub, dark and drab - great for Guinness with the boys, not so much for a couples dinner. Many were tried to be seated up there last night and some refused. I regret not doing the same. The menu is limited and uninspiring and relatively unchanged since opening. The calamari which was one of the best items on the menu previously, but was too salty and we left half of it. Speaking of the menu, not all of the four of us had the same version. The cavatelli is too truffle rich and last night was served a minute shy of al dente. I ve had the bolognese previously and it s the worst in town. Their pizza crust was the highlight but nobody needs an entire arugula salad on top of a pizza and giving me scissors to cut it feels like I m at an adult Chuck E Cheese. Their sommelier clearly grew up living under a bridge drinking out of a paper bag given their wine list choices, but at least they stopped serving it directly from an over chilled fridge. Thankfully, the service was quite good. I won t be back, too many great options in the area.
Normal restaurant, food was average and staff were professional.
Great food, great atmosphere to celebrate fathers birthday, and Joshua great service!
We had a great dinner here tonight. I d highly recommend it.
Service wasnt bad, but couldnt make up for the mediocrity of the food Appetizers were a 6/10 Mains 3/10 Pasta 0/10 (maybe the worst pasta Ive ever hard... anywhere)
Piano Piano was a restaurant that made us experience many different feelings. Came here to celebrate Fathers Day. First off, the calamari was delicious, especially the octopus. The pizza and pasta are mainly amazing. We go here every once in a while to celebrate or causally eat and is a downtown Oakville classic. Food was fast and service was great.
Service was okay, definitely was expecting better especially for having to pay a booking fee to choose our preferred seats. Food was lacking in seasoning. Focaccia was not focaccia but instead a toasted, oily piece of regular bread.
It was a good restaurant with good Italian food, although the portions could have been more generous. We also waited over an hour to be served and ended up staying almost 3 hours to eat an appetizer, main and dessert. Everyone was nice, but the service really needs to be sped up.
Lunch special is a great value. Loved the Chop Salad and the Egg Yolk Ravioli.
The food, as usual, was fantastic. We ordered the Veal Parmesan and didn t ask for the kitchen to remove the soppressata because we don t eat pork. The server was kind enough to remake our orders and this far exceeded our expectations. The portions were more than generous. Well done. We will be back many more times to this location (Oakville).
Amazing decor, food is outstanding and the service was very attentive and polite. Overall great experience... will be back!
Pleasant experience at piano piano, we were celebrating a birthday. The atmosphere was a bit loud, and we were placed at a corner table facing out towards the restaurant so it didnt feel like an intimate meal. The food overall however was delicious. We enjoyed the burrata with the grapes especially!
Had dinner pre show at the OCPA. This was my 1st visit to Piano Piano. I shared dinner with a friend. We had the mushroom salad, eggplant entree, spaghetti special and lemon cheese cake. Everything was wonderful. The food, the service and the ambiance. Will definitely return.
So disappointing overall. The restaurant itself is cute, but most other things were lacking. Service provided barely hit the bare minimum level required. The food was surprisingly meh. The croquettes were supposed to have prosciutto and nduja...there was none. It was all potato and cheese. The calamari was decent but very salty...the batter and fry were good. The pizza and pasta were mediocre. The seabass literally had the smallest piece of fish. Most of the dish was potato, artichoke, and tomato sauce. For $36, what a rip-off. The worst part was dessert...I was so excited for the Nutella tiramisu (we got it to go). For $14 we literally got about 3 bites worth of tiramisu. Even worse was the taste...it tasted like it had gone bad. It was tart. There was no sweetness to it. You couldnt taste any Nutella. There was no creaminess. Unbelievable honestly, and just underscored the entire sub-par experience. Would definitely not recommend, and will definitely not go back.
Came here for my birthday. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so nice and the service is amazing. It s not too loud so it perfect to have conversations and it s reasonably priced. Got the sweet hornet (bottom left, top left with no soppressata), the hot rod (top right)
Food was great. The online booking did not work very well. Reservation for 6 was reservation for two. Number of people was not shared in the booking email.
This place lives up to the hype. The lunch special almost seems too good to be true. The burrata, alla vodka pasta, and tiramisu were soooo good. The spinach ravioli and salad was also very good. Highly recommend! The restaurant itself is also super cute, only annoying thing is trying to find parking so the earlier you go the better! Will definitely be going again!
Burrata is a must try. Amazing appetizer.
Disappointing Experience at Piano Piano I visited Piano Piano with high expectations for an early Mothers Day celebration, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. Despite the restaurants motto slowly slowly we go further, the service was excessively slow. Our server seemed overwhelmed, taking ages to take our drinks order and even longer to bring out our appetizers. It took a whole hour to receive our apps! We ordered the ricotta, mussels, croquettes, and meatballs with focaccia, which were delicious but marred by mistakes. The focaccia was forgotten, and when reminded, arrived only after our mains were served, making the meatballs cold. The mains mushroom cavatelli, tortelli con Bolognese, and spaghetti aglio e olio were a mixed bag. The cavatelli and tortelli were amazing, but the spaghetti was incorrect and had to be sent back. When I questioned the waitress, she initially confirmed it was the right dish until I showed her a picture from their website of what it was actually supposed to look like! The meal ended on a sweet note with the lemon cheesecake and Nutella tiramisu, which are must-tries. The manager apologized and removed the meatballs from the bill, but the poor service overshadowed the good food. With some improvement in service, Piano Piano could live up to its promise. Recommendations: - Improve service speed and efficiency - Double-check orders before serving - Train staff to be more attentive and responsive Until then, Ill be cautious about returning.
I was quite disappointed with this restaurant. I ordered Chicken Piccata. It was a leg and breast of chicken on the bone with skin, a sauce and some green decoration on top. Honestly, I could get the same at another well known inexpensive restaurant chain that is famous for its rotisserie chicken, which I probably would have enjoyed more. The ambiance was okay, but I was sat on a little tiny wooden chair with a tiny padded vinyl cushion on top. Not comfortable at all. I guess that they don t want guests overstaying their welcome. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.
Food was only okay and small portions for the price point. Got the calamari, spicy clams, fun guy pizza and vodka pasta
Staff were very accommodating. Family reunion had a wonderful time.
I read some reviews on this location, some good and some bad. I always want to try for myself before I judge. At this Italian eatery, I have to agree with some of the bad reviews. I ordered Calamari and at $24 per portion, I would expect a dish shareable. I saw the roasted artichokes on the menu and asked the server, she mentioned that it was just a couple of pieces for flavouring. When the dish arrived, it was more than half artichokes and very little calamari. Then I ordered the pasta with meatballs. The pasta was not cooked al dente, still hard and it matched the hard meatballs. I would have returned the dish but did not want to make a scene. I asked the server for parmigiano for the pasta expecting freshly grated onto the dish. She brought out a bowl of parmesan out of a jar with a spoon. No self respecting Italian restaurant would serve that dry cheese wannabe, I was shocked. Sorry but if you want real Italian, you can skip the dishes here and go elsewhere. Not impressed.
I am very disappointed in this restaurant. The food had no flavor very blandly. We ordered 5 different pasta dishes, and we couldnt say theres one that was delicious. Dessert was a lemon cheese cake. We couldnt taste any lemon only cheese. Didnt appear to be fresh. The worst was the bathrooms, Disgustingly dirty. I refuse to use a bathroom that I myself have to clean the toilets in order to use them.
The food was very nice and the ambiance is lovely.
I treated my parents to a birthday lunch here recently and we were very happy overall. The lunch special was a good deal, but only one of the desserts is included in this price. We received a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Cutting our own pizza was a nice/fun touch.
This was our second visit for date night. We wanted to try the recent addition, carbonara, as that is our favourite pasta dish. Overall, it was decent. Using fresh pasta would ve made it perfect. The rigatoni was cooked alittle less than al dente which my husband didn t like. I enjoyed it though. The carrot cake was quite decadent (it comes with soft serve ice cream in a cone on top of the cake). I could only muster a couple bits but my husband enjoyed it a lot. The service was on point. We were seated right away. Our server, Dominique, always made sure we were never without water. She asked us how the food was. It was the perfect amount of attention without being over bearing. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely and unique. As for price, I m still unsure if $200 (incl tip) was worth it. I think next time we will skip the dessert. The caesar salad is quite small for $19 and not sure if we d get that again. The hot rod pizza though is delicious!
Went as a group. Nice atmosphere, attentive server. Good tasting food, portions are perfect. We had the afternoon specials. Will come back again.
Had a lovely celebration for a friend s 50th birthday. The food was fantastic (mushroom cavaletti, mushroom pizza, eggplant fritti for the win! The Nutella tiramisu with a massive sparkler topped it all off) . As an added bonus we had the best service. I wasn t made to feel bad for only having water and he topped it off around 5 times (the glass was small lol). He was there for every need/want without being intrusive or disruptive (stealth like!). I am only sad I forgot to get his name but I did let him know! Thank you for helping us have an amazing dinner out. We will definitely be back.
Very nice fancy place. You would definitely have to dress up for this restaurant. They have a great deal for lunch for $37 +tax. Went with the Cesar salad, pasta, and tiramisu. The service was also amazing. Would of been full 5 stars but due to pay parking in downtown oakville, thats why its a 4.
Good Italian food and atmosphere. Delightful specials and desserts - pizza & sauces were not exceptional.
Best pizza in my life
Nice place great bartender
Food was excellent; however the front end experience with who is answering the phone to book a reservation is very off putting.
The inside is beautiful and service was good however our meal was kind of disappointing. I had the rigatoni and meatballs and my girlfriend had the mushroom cavatelli. For $28, the portion size was pretty small. On top of that, my girlfriend has been in bed sick all day as a result of her meal whether it was from food poisoning or her meal had come in contact with gluten (she is celiac). Just a bit of a let down considering I had heard so many great things about this place.
Dave, our server was awesome! His recommendations were spot on all through out and we really enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be back!
Sever Josh amazing!! Such a great server ambiance was perfect food was not great at all ,over priced left unsatisfied and underwhelmed with the food only reason I would go back is for the amazing private room we had for our group
Best restaurant honestly been way to many Italian places and this place tops it all. Food price and service. Ryan the manager is good a guy.
This is a beautiful old building and is nicely appointed inside. The food was all very good. We were a group of 8 and had a range of foods. We all elected to do the prix fixe lunch special which includes a half portion appetizer and a main of either pizza or pasta. The Caesar salad looked to be the best starter option - a good sized portion of baby Romaine with a nice dressing, croutons and a couple of anchovy filets on top. I had the calamari which was lightly batter and served with a lovely aioli and a couple pieces of battered artichoke heart. I had the Hawaiian pizza which was a large 12 inch cooked in a wood fired oven. My only two small issues were very uncomfortable black chairs and downstairs washrooms. With better chairs and a main floor bathroom it is a solid 5 stars. Parking: There s a municipal parking lot right across the street. It s paid parking.
Very good food and service.
Cute little place for date night or celebrations. Family friendly with pay parking across the street. Service was great. Nice bonus, you can take 6 frozen pizzas home for $60!
5 stars all the way, thanks!
Love this place! The food and service are consistently excellent. Great portion sizes, and their dinner for two is a fantastic deal.
Awesome customer service by Liz, take advantage of Taste of Oakville on an annual basis, parking is free after 6pm and on Sunday.
I visited Piano Piano with a group reservation. The servers were friendly and polite. Free parking on weekends. I like the exterior design on the face of the building. The interior is larger than I expected and comfortable. I disliked the Tirimisu dessert. I would like Piano Piano more if complimentary bread rolls served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar were offered. My food experience at Piano Piano was only lunch service and does not include dinner service menu options.
Ordered Roast bass, it was thinner than piece of bread, with potatoes and Olives? Terrible combination. Really dont know what the hype is all about, aside from the ambiance it was Over rated. Far better options in Oakville.
Great experience from the moment you walk in, chill ambiance, servers were nice and informative of top dishes, drinks were made well and well food spoke for itself. We were a party of 4 and wanted to try everything so we ordered marinated olives, Nonnas meatballs, Brussel sprouts, egg yolk ravioli, sweet hornet pizza (recommended by our waitress -- phenomenal!!!) And cant remember the name but a mushroom pasta (pasta was a little hard for my taste) but overall the mushrooms and sauce were a hit. Ended with Nutella tiramisu and couldnt have imagined a more satisfying evening. The decor, different room types (we had the wonderland room dining) set the tone for the evening (supporting local artwork like Rupi Kaur). Definitely will visit again. Great for date night but also girls night. Parking: Free parking behind piano piano Friday after 6pm. Added bonus.
Loved loved loved!
I was impressed with this restaurant. This was the old Johnathan restaurant. You must order the Hot Rod pizza, it was perfection. Also got the Ceasar salad, it was average. The Eggplant Fritti was spot on their Rosemary Negroni was perfect. And the Nutella Tiramisu is a must order. The restaurant is very reasonably priced considering how expensive it is to eat out these days. I will definitely go back.
Wasn t impressed with the upstairs. Tables for 4 are too small and interior needs a facelift. Ordered eggplant parm. Sauce was over seasoned and spicy. Hard to taste the eggplant. Service was so-so but pleasant. Wouldn t go back.
A group of 12 people went for a Christmas Lunch with a preset menu. Service was good even though we were upstairs which was very cold. Calamari was good, Egg Yolk Ravioli was excellent, Steak was terrible (dry and overcooked), Lemon Cheesecake was quite enjoyable.
Our family hosted a private wedding in one of the rooms upstairs at Piano Piano Oakville. We had a family style dinner and the room even had a private bar. The food was absolutely incredible, I can honestly say I enjoyed every dish, and was so happy to take home the leftovers. The service was spectacular - Phil (our bartender) and the servers were professional, fun and very accommodating. We were all very comfortable with them especially since it was a small intimate event- how caring, mindful and helpful the staff was with the children at the table did not go unnoticed. Thank you to Piano Piano for making it a memorable night for the whole family!
Great price on lunch special. You get a really good portion of food. Service was great. The pizzas are not that great. Missing a depth of flavour. The pasta my partner got was really good though, maybe skip the pizzas. The tiramisu was amazing.
Honestly would say the seating area could Use uplifting while maintaining an old style to it. All the pizza have pork! With no option to substitute. The server don t seem happy to be working there?! Glass wine selection was horrible.the food we ordered was really good . For the $$$ amount I wouldn t repeat it much better restaurants out there.
Ordered a mushroom pasta and chicken. Very very bland and wasn t authentic. Main course was served before drinks. I would assume restaurants bring out drinks first and then food after a while. Portions were okay considering the chicken was $40 it was no better than KFC.
This place is popular amongst foodies in toronto, however it does not live up to its hype. It doesn t do Italian food justice, but the atmosphere and interior was great.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Went for Valentine s Day dinner and opted for the dinner for two menu. We got our choice of house wine, snack, appetizer, pizza or pasta, main course, and dessert to share. It was an amazing value for $150 dollars for a tonne of food. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked, and very artfully and creatively prepared and plated. The restaurant itself is gorgeous inside and out. The interior especially looks like an art deco bistro you d find somewhere in Europe. Our server was attentive without being pushy and allowed just the right amount of time in between check-ups for good conversation. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and will most definitely be back. Thank you Piano Piano, happy to have you in the town of Oakville!
Great place to celebrate birthdays
Piano Piano, located at 120 Thomas St. in Oakville, has been a go-to spot for many, but my recent experience left much to be desired. Opting to try their winterlicious menu, I found the quality of food disappointing. While the smaller portions were understandable, missing ingredients in my appetizer and a poorly executed pizza left me unsatisfied. Even though my partners meal was satisfactory, the timing of the dipping sauces arrival was off, leaving no opportunity to use it. Despite not being charged for certain items upon complaint, the overall disappointment and lack of attention to guests experience were evident. As someone who values principles, I wont be returning to Piano Piano. With many dining options in Oakville, Ill be exploring elsewhere. In addition, Ive decided to include a picture with this review to illustrate our decision to leave a tip despite our disappointing experience. Its important to note that while certain charges, like the mayo, were included in the bill, they were only brought to our attention at the end of the meal, showcasing a very poor execution on the part of the service. This lack of transparency and attention to detail further contributed to our overall dissatisfaction with the dining
Got the private room downstairs! It was nice and private for a few people. Staff was well knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations! Will definitely return and recommend them to others!
We went for our office holiday dinner and everything was delicious. We did the pre arranged family service menu. They had no issues accommodating allergies and dietary restrictions. Service was excellent.
Very comfortable Good service(but a little fast) Amazing Caesar salad However, pizza was too soggy, although toppings were good. Cutting the pizza with scissors is weird. Having to pay up front to make a reservation is ridiculous and pretentious. Too much attitude.
Great place for date nights. They have a lunch special at a great price (comes with half app, pasta or a pizza and a dessert option) while their drinks are pricey and I didnt find them to be that great. Mushroom pasta is a must have along with Tiramisu dessert!! The server was very kind and nice. Ambiance is great for small parties. Vegetarian options: Mushroom pasta!
Food, Atmosphere, Service. This restaurant has it all. You will not be disappointed giving this place a shot. My server Amy was a pro.
Excellent food, great drinks and loved the service! Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian options! Food : 5/5 |
A little pricy, nice atmosphere. This place took over for Jonathans which was one of the elite dining experiences in Oakville. Food here is great, chicken picado and lemon cheese cake were a real hit.
Very disappointing. Although the service was good and the restaurant is very nice, the food on the most part was a real fail. Tiny sea bass filet was 1 cm thick with skin on and cooked in the equivalent of a salty tomato soup sauce. Olives added more salt. Wedge salad was supposed to have blue cheese which was not present. Dressing was tasteless. Ricotta/bread appetizer was the only item that passed. Too bad. I wanted to like the place.
Went for a work talk on recommendation of colleagues. Wow, great food. The veal was a good portion and perfectly done. Octopus, mmmmm.
This was my first time at this location and we dined upstairs in the more quiet area. Our server Rachel was fabulous. Our dishes were tasty. Tiramisu was a bit runny but everything else from apps to mains hit the mark. Id come back to check out the main floor again which seemed more lively. Kid-friendliness: We had the pasta for my daughter, excellent
All around good, always consistent, will come back over and over.
Beautiful decor and interior, and the food was amazing! We loved every dish.
Beautiful experience! Had such a lovely time
This place is really nice and cozy. We had a beautiful table. We were celebrating friends birthdays and it was absolutely amazing experience. Our waitress was wonderful. They gave us prosecco because it was someones birthday and it was lovely. Definitely going to go back and bring my husband next time.
Our server Liz was super kind & the food was super yummy. Pizza was my favourite it was drizzled with a hot & honey sauce. A couple of us had the lunch special and shared everything. I would certainly recommend! The Nutella tiramisu was absolutely delicious!
I recently had the unfortunate pleasure of dining at a restaurant that I can only describe as a culinary catastrophe. From start to finish, my meal was an unappetizing disaster, leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. the pasta, which arrived at my table with all the warmth of an iceberg. The dish was served cold. It was a sad, limp excuse for pasta. Next came the eggplant, which was a complete letdown. The menu promised a succulent and tender vegetable, but what I received was a rubbery, undercooked mess. As for the calamari, what was supposed to be a crispy and savory delight turned out to be a plate full of disappointment. Instead of the tender rings of calamari I was expecting, I was greeted with an overwhelming amount of fried vegetables. The calamari itself was practically nonexistent, buried under a mountain of bland and overcooked peppers and zucchini. And then there was the pizza, or should I say, the tasteless cardboard that was presented to me. The crust lacked any semblance of flavor, resembling nothing more than a forgettable piece of bread. To make matters worse, the ambience of the restaurant was equally underwhelming. We were seated upstairs. The atmosphere was dull and lifeless, with no effort put into creating a pleasant dining experience. The lighting was harsh, the decor was uninspired, and the overall vibe was one of indifference. It felt as if the staff couldnt be bothered to make any effort to create a welcoming environment for their guests. In conclusion, my experience at this restaurant was an utter disaster from beginning to end. From the cold and tasteless pasta to the undercooked eggplant, the calamari that was mostly fried veggies, the flavorless pizza, and the dismal ambience, it was a complete letdown. I cannot recommend this piano piano to anyone seeking a satisfying meal or a pleasant dining experience. Save your money and your taste buds.
Came here for an anniversary dinner. The service was incredible! Immediately the service acknowledged it was our anniversary and brought glasses of sparkling wine. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the mushroom cavatelli pasta! Our server Megan was so attentive and sweet, I m so glad she served us on our special day. Would definitely come back!
Worst Italian I ever had
Was ok.
Nice vibe with neat decor!! It was packed on a Tuesday evening. Service was okay. The food was really good especially the burrata and the bread that came with it was AMAZING. The caesar salad was okay, it could have used more dressing and there were a couple brown pieces of lettuce. The ricotta stuffed tortellini was delicious, but the canestri alla vodka was even better. The nutella tiramisu was soooooo good, would totally come back just for that.
Great food at Great prices and our server was attentive and amicable. Had a better experience at the Colborne location but will still come back again!
Overpriced, mediocre to poor service They charge for water, and dont bring or have bread with your meal - first Italian restaurant Ive been to that didnt have bread...pasta portion reasonably small for 28 bucks ( pasta a la vodka which is usually around $20 in other good restaurants)...friends has veal Parm ( $40) which was good but didnt come with any side of pasta or veggies . I have to say the food was pretty good but it is overpriced and the service not great...
The level of Sass we received from the hostess is unacceptable. We asked for a spot in the bar area and we re told we don t accept walk ins we asked well we see tables available hostess we don t accept walk ins. . I ve been there many times and they accept walk ins.
Good experience, but not great. I ve seen this restaurant all over social media and wanted to give it a try. Overall it was very overhyped and average food, nothing outstanding. The 8 layer chocolate cake was also very misleading as it was a thick brownie with a bland taste, definitely not worth it. Wouldn t waste your money here.
I came here from out of town with some friends for a girls night, we had Josh as our server and he was awesome, gave us the best recommendations, was super prompt and the food was incredible
Your staff was friendly and precise. The food was superb. Every dish was like a beautiful song. We shared many appetizers. Each having amazing flavours. That is the way to go. The gift that keeps on giving. Took leftovers home to enjoy the next night. Awesome night with friends.
food was good, the space is lovely and the service from Jerheart was top-notch!
We called ahead letting them know we were about ten minutes late, whomever answered the phone was very rude and told us the table was reserved again at 8:40 even though we expected a two hour dining window as outlined when the reso was booked. It was a gorgeous restaurant and our server was awesome. I felt like the menu selection was really small for dinner. It all made sense when at the end of our meal I saw the table beside us with steak, we realized we had been given the lunch menu to order from. I m not a huge fan of pizza but we ordered it and a pasta because there wasn t much variety, or so we thought. It was my birthday, other tables got a sparkler in their desserts, I did not. It was very underwhelming and a disappointing birthday dinner.
Piano Piano Oakville is the best, great friendly staff, great atmosphere and even better food. Doesn t matter the time of day for lunch or dinner it stays consistent every time. Will continue recommending and returning back for sure.
Great ambience, food, location, service and staff. Gives you a nice Italian feel !!
Great restaurant in downtown Oakville. Food is fabulous. The atmosphere is fun. Dietary restrictions: None dairy and no egg. Food : 5/5 |
Beautiful building and great atmosphere. We went for lunch and sat in the booths by the window, it felt separate from the crowd but still in the excitement of the bar. The service was great too. But the food fell short. We had apps to share, and then I had a pizza. I felt the pizza was lack luster. It was super oily and impossible to pick up. Also made it really hard to cut with the scissors, my hands were sticky and it just wasnt enjoyable to try and eat. Id go back but Id avoid the pizza. Maybe theyre better at pasta dishes.
Piano piano offers beautiful ambiance and good vibes. The decor and overall aesthetic of the restaurant is chic, classy, and unique. We sat bar top for drinks this time around, and the bartender, Ger was awesome! He made a delicious espresso martini, chatted with us, and was overall, fun. The atmosphere was exactly that. Would recommend going back! I ve eaten here as well. The food was delicious!
Attended a private party there. The food was excellent, above a typical $$$ Italian restaurant in Oakville. The service was great as well. Had a good time there
Beautiful restaurant amazing food
not sure why the price for a bottle of water ($8) is the same as a beer, but other than that food is great.
Love this restaurant so much. The aesthetics are on point, down to every last detail. Even the bathrooms are pretty! The food is so delicious. The alla vodka croquettes and pasta are a favourite. Cocktails are great as well. The bartender is wonderful and provides excellent service always! Best French martini in town!
Great service and food. They let us stay after they closed for lunch service which was very nice of them.
First thing first i wanted to thank Gerhart for his great attitude and service. Without him this would have been a 1 star review. Food is consistent and tasty. Cavatelli had a great mushroom and truffle taste and pasta was al dente. The pizza was good as well (was a tad too floppy).
