Featuring exposed beams & a large fireplace, this English-style hangout serves classic pub grub.
Let me begin by saying I love this place , I truly do. Been a patron since 2007. Service , atmosphere and food , variety and choice of drinks , always top notch. Unfortunately , there's but this time and it has to do with my choice of food this time. I usually take the same thing fish&chips or burgers. If it ain't broken don't try to fix it . Well this time around I did and I shouldn't of had. On the menu there's a Steak and ale Pie, let me put the emphasis on the word pie and it's actual definition. A"pie is a baked dish which is usually made of a pastry dough casing that contains a filling of various sweet or savoury ingredients" Now while what I had was at best okay, it surely wasn't a pie! More like a ceramic bowl with beef stew in it and some sort of flaky dough that was dropped on top. To say the least it was a big disappointment and a warning to stick with what I usually take. I get that making individual pies can be very time consuming, but if thats not what you're planning to offer please don't call it a pie! Maybe just call it steak and ale stew, topped with a flaky crusty, that would be more exact! Finally, for 22.99 I was expecting a real pie! Besides that anomaly everything else is fine at Queens Head, just stay away from the stew....... sorry pie.:) I'm scoring 3 stars for the food , because of what i had last night . Other than that , the food does deserve at the very least 4 stars for sure . i'll be back but not for the Steak and Ale pie , no way!
Great service in an old school pub. Amazing group of people working there. It has a nice pub atmosphere. Plenty of parking in the back and street parking too! Great fish and chips!! Onion rings sre good too
It’s a nice old British pub that’s nicely decorated. They take reservations except on Friday nights. There’s a parking lot beside the pub and it it was full, there’s ample street parking is available. The menu is modest; they have variety of beers and wine, but not many cocktails. Many shareable food items, handhelds and of course the fried Mars bar for dessert. It’s a nice pub for gatherings and you can be a loud crowd all you want lol. The staff are also friendly.
It was the most British pub I've been in since I left London 35 years ago. London pride on draught, Irish beers, English cider, and really friendly staff. Didn't try the food but good menu and the people I saw eating were enjoying their food. Founded around 1990, it has the look and feel of a British pub from the late 1800s. Nice
Old school English pub. Great decor. Very authentic atmosphere. Service was great(although wasn't busy) but regardless all were friendly and attentive. Wait staff answered all our questions and made suggestions. Ended up with the Fish and chips and house burger. The fish was the best I've ever had at a pub. The fish was so light and melted in my mouth. The burger was cooked perfectly and was flavourful. Steak fries were ok but a good pairing with the fish. Overall a great experience and we would return
After an afternoon walk around Downtown Oakville, we were looking for a place to chill out of the scorching heat. Found this British sports bar which was located in one of the side streets. Once inside, we felt so cool and relieved. It has huge TV screens around and lots of comfortable seats. Customer service is efficient and drinks were brought out to quench our thirst. The food we had was great. Portions are huge too.
The Queens Head is a fantastic local pub that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to grab a pint and a bite to eat. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cozy interior and friendly staff that make you feel right at home. The menu is full of delicious options, with something for everyone. Whether you're in the mood for classic pub fare like fish and chips or a juicy burger, or something a bit more upscale like the steak or the grilled salmon, you're sure to find something that will satisfy your cravings. One of the things I love about The Queens Head is that the food is always reliably delicious. I've been here several times and have never been disappointed with my meal. The ingredients are fresh and the dishes are expertly prepared, making every bite a true pleasure. Of course, no trip to The Queens Head would be complete without sampling some of their excellent beers. They have a great selection on tap, with both local and international brews to choose from. Whether you prefer a light ale or a dark stout, you'll find something to your liking here. All in all, I can't recommend The Queens Head enough. It's a great place to unwind with friends, enjoy some great food and drinks, and soak up the local atmosphere. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by and check it out for yourself!
A British style pub with a great menu and good beers. Efficient and friendly staff, too. We sat comfortably in the patio and had an enjoyable lunch with beer. Will go there again.
Get the steak and ale pie, so delicious!!
Always wonderful food and service is fantastic.
The only restaurant in the area that doesnt post their prices online?
A great old style British pub with a great menu and an even better draft selection.
1st time visiting the restaurant after riding there from Toronto with friends. I had beer and fish and chips.
Been coming here since I was a kid, a perfect slice of Britain tucked into a nice Canadian town.
Authentic English style pub fair pricing and cozy atmosphere.
Love the atmosphere and service here! Food and drinks are top notch as well! Have yet to have a bad experience!!
A great British pub
Great old school pub thats been there forever. Properly dark and full of an older clientele.
Cozy and great vibe. Good food and drinks.
Great food & service
Great location and decor and the food is good. I was disappointed that their website is not current. We went because the site indicated they served roast beef dip but they don t any longer and we were told the owners are aware of this discrepancy on the site. This is not good service in my opinion.
I enjoyed a quick pint and an appetizer. The service was ok, the beer and whiskey selection has a lot to be desired. It looks and feels like a pub, but I was disappointed with the beer selection. I would return but my expectations are pretty low.
Been going since i was a kid with family. Although now there must have new owners. Stopped in to watch a match today for the first time in a good while and was shocked. Left at halftime, the nostalgia had me leaving a tip but i wont be back again. Shame.
Havent been in a while but they didnt disappoint. Great authentic pub with wonderful food. Food : 5/5
Their samosas are amazing!!
I had the beacon cheese burger and it was just amazing. Service was amazing 5/5. The atmosphere is what makes me love this place so much. All the old photos and new paper cut outs and all the other things they have all over there walls
Excellent old pub need more of these
Classic pub atmosphere with really good pub staples on the menu. Been there for lunch and dinner and the quality is consistent.
Needs a redo. Nice place but a little tired.
The service is garbage, only waitresses with pretty faces, I was waiting too long for a beer, there were 3 waitresses and none of them came to take my order, I will never go back.
Had the fish tacos, really good
Paddys day , no reservations on website. When we got there half tables reserved. Had a table we had to vacate within an hour.
The Queens Head Oakville is a nice pub in a closer to traditional English Pub style then most modern build ones are today. A traditional English Pub menu. Service is excellent, quality food, overall establishment is clean and well kept. A great place for lunch or dinner! Parking: Pay Parking available in a city run lot behind the pub. Metered Street parking is also available, depending on time of day/night. Wheelchair accessibility: The main restaurant is on ground level with no stairs to contend with or ramp required. I believe the bathrooms are on the second floor, yet there may be a wheelchair accessible bathroom on the main floor.
A genuine Pub with good food and goid beer. What more do you want?
Great ambience. Good food and drinks. Good staff. Great service.
Not a good variety of drinks, but good for beer drinkers. Food is ordinary. The place itself is very beautiful.
Excellent ambience. A quiet place to share a nice drink and meal with the family and friends. Recommended.
Good food, good beer, good company. The Queens Heads never disappoints.
Nice British pub. Great service..
Best pub in Oakville.
Came in with some friends for a drink after the Gown concert. Why is one of only two pubs in downtown Oakville closing at 11 on a Fri night? Crazy.
Looks like a great place the seems to be great. I painted and help put there new sign up when I was working at joens neon sign
Wonderful ambience and very courteous staff. Will certainly be back!
First time back in 10 years - it was the superbowl Sunday and the place was dead! And itd no wonder - 20 dollars for 8 wings!!! And they werent that great. I felt sorry for the excellent staff who had very few customers = less tips. The whole place needs a re-fresh as it is pretty grimy.
Very clean, fast and friendly servers (Kayla +) who were really on the ball. Great food that came out fast - would visit again anytime I am in town. Best service I have had in a long time. We ll done.
A very friendly pub thats been a main stay in Oakville for a long time. Good pub food and a great selection of beers. Update: I had their daily taco special yesterday at lunch. Very tasty!
Polite staff and good service. Reasonable prices A new draft which I like. The servers remember my name! If you like sports..its on
Good pub, great staff, good food and clean toilets Family friendly
Terrible !!! Customer Service Experience from the Manager or Door Man???
The food is very good. Nice cozy atmosphere
It stinks of qlo, add flavoring!!!
Nice little pub
Quaint place to grab a couple pints.
Nice place, great service.
Good food nice staff ,good prices only bad thing i got a refill on a coke and got charged for 2 ....250 for a coke is a little high x2 is too much. Food was good this time very small portion and service was bad
Great pint. Always busy and friendly
I just got back from a trip to Dublin and this is very close to the real Irish pub experience. Ill definitely be back again for another pint or three.
Would recommend if you want to have a quick pint.
Love their meat pies and the best curry in town. Its just a solid pub with a great atmosphere
Great spot in downtown Oakville. Staff is wonderful, beers are top notch (Guinness pint was one of the best I ve had) and food is delicious and well-seasoned (which is sometimes lacking in pubs).
Kayla was our server and she was so good, lots of smiles and excellent service . Food was great, we had the steak and ale pie and fish and chips. We will be back! Parking: Free on weekends
Queen head is an oakville tradition having been in its present location for over 20 years, near as I care to calculate. It obviously doing something right. A traditional English pub in atmosphere, decor, food and prices. Nothing done wrong for the genre it embodies . Its location in oakvilles down town lends itself to business lunch crowds while evening visitors tend to be those who drove there for a night (unlike say pipes and taps in north oakville whi h is more of a local crowd who walk in) You must factor in parking time and money for this area. Food is not flashy, and tends to be somewhat diner influenced with the exception of signature dishes. Prices are typical for oakville pubs ,which seem to be creeping up with current inflation. A great place to meet up after a walk around lakeshore or an evening of laid-back catching up with old friends.
Food was so good!! Had the special grilled cheese and it was fantastic. Service was good and the ambiance is exactly what you expect with the name of the place.
This place really needs a good clean and update
Outside seating good we could not sit inside as it is a bar quite dark suitable for younger families who want to have few drinks But to have a meal we like the outside
Love this place! The foods always good and the service is great.
We had burger chicken wrap and chicken curry dopiaz . Very tasty aromatic and good size tasted like homemade food ,clean and friendly. I highly recommend this place
Proper pub vibes here! Had the opportunity to drop by for lunch and the vibe inside is great. The service was quick, food was good and drinks were cold. Thanks Nicole
Wanted to visit a good old british pub whilst on holiday. Wings were great. Drinks even better. Greatxservice with a smile. The Canadianway.
Great place to meet with friends.
Very nice food, great atmosphere, took my girlfriend here on out first date and now going back on our 6 month anniversary so it does the trick!
Love it down here. We hadnt been to the Queens in a few years and have now been twice in 2 weeks. Great beers on tap, great food, everyone liked what they got: French onion soup, chicken tenders and fish & chips. Love how this pub still looks like a back home pub and not some modern, cold, bright, boring renod restaurant with no soul We will be back again soon!
Excellent food and service.
Good varied menu, with reasonable prices, and excellent service.....
Reasonably priced for food and excellent rustic atmosphere
Food was blah and overpriced
The pie is the best meal ever. Homely, savory, and down right wholesome. Always go with the steak and stout. My only complaint is that they dont serve Cafferys or Kilkennys. Still one of the very few pubs worth going to even through it is a 30 minutes drive.
Great food menu for pub style food, staff are very friendly and helpful love the atmosphere in the establishment.
So the food a fish and chips was less than I hoped for..Chips are frozen as I am eating them I hit a couple of fries that were still cold...the service was great thats the only reason for the two stars the young lady serving me played along with my attempt to be funny. the food came very fast I was shocked and thus may be why the food was not cooked properly and certainly not served British style at all...id be okay waiting longer for food for a better experience also the cost was a bit much2 drinks two one piece fish and chips 70 bucks plus tip...the girl that served me was worth the trip...I am all about a second chance so I will go again and if it gets better I will update my review
Tasty food. good service.
Nice pub for that old pup feel. Older crowd so its not crazy. Friendly and enjoyable
Great food and almost feels like you time travelled to 19th century London.
Good place for a nice dinner and drinks with friends.
Traditional British Isles Pub, good food, cold beer, great staff.
Nice spot. Friendly staff, family feel, good food and drinks. Nice ambience, good for after work meetings.
Food is incredible, great atmosphere. But they are still parroting the dumb mask rules, and they did not allow me in, even though I just wanted to have a nice Steak and Ale Pie. I hope they change to be less stingy with these disgusting, discrimnatory pandemic measures. I will NOT forget the many times I was rejected from sitting at this store, simply for not providing proof of being inoculated. The owners should be ashamed for engaging with these discrimnatory practices. Be better.
Went in last week on St. Paddys Day Got seated pretty quickly even though the place was packed out. Decent grub with quite a varied menu. Nice few pints of Guinness. Good value, our two meals plus drinks came to around $100 Very nice decor inside, comfortable, very British feel Our server was friendly and efficient. Will deffo go back next time were in Oakville.
Was looking for an authentic British Pub in Oakville for my visiting British friends; what a great find! Lived in the area for a long time but this was my first visit. Very genuine and cozy feeling. The menu is fantastic, both in quality and quantity (you will not leave hungry!). The samosa appetizers were gigantic! And delicious main courses (group ordered the curry, bangers and steak pie - all great). They did not take reservations on Saturday, but we got there for 545pm and had no issues getting a table for 4. It got quite full by 630pm. I was pleasantly surprised that they also have quite a few TV screens with sports programming. Parking lot right behind the pub and was free starting at 6pm. Well definitely be back, even if just for a pint and some appetizers!!
Great pub.. good food and service!
Great British pies and pub curries. Always very friendly and attentive staff.
Great service, great food. Authentic English/Scottish Pub feel.
Lovely pub with a good menu. The staff are super friendly and efficient. Really good fish and chips!
Always enjoy the Queens Head. Great atmosphere and service.
This place is an old Oakville staple which never disappoints. Great choice of beers and a fabulous menu for a pub. Very rustic decor with lots of locals. Really enjoyed the curry special with a few cold pints. Its a must when visiting Oakville. Really well located with lots of parking.
One of the last authentic pubs around. RIP Abbey Arms.
First time but I can say highly recommended.. Great taste and service .
Good burger but the featured chicken Balti was amazingly tasty. Piping hot with great taste.
Limited drinks and the staff are rushed. A trifle rude too.
The food here was really good. They were out of some of the things we wanted, and they forgot some cutlery as well. Aside from that, it was a nice experience.
Delicious!
Always a good pub experience. Food is consistently good and the beer selection is fine too. Great place if you want that British pub outing.
Nothing to see here folks...move along. Do not, I repeat do not go to the washroom
Service was excellent. The food, delicious. Definitely would eat here, again.
LOVED the Chicken Quesadillas!
Big portions, coleslaw and mash potatoes are the best!
Fantastic!! We had a party of 7 and everyone loved every dish. The server was extremely friendly and helpful, the service was pretty quick and the food was fantastic! We had our eye on the curry special and our server said it is one of her favorites - it is now one of ours. The fish and chips were big beautiful pieces of fish, the batter was light and crispy and everything was perfectly fried and not oily. The Greek salad was really good and bigger than we had expected. The stir fry special was not something we expected to see on the menu but was excellent. Our daughter was in seventh heaven. Sadly we dont live near by and were only passing through on vacation from the states but if we ever get back to this area of Canada we will for sure stop in again. We highly recommend it.
Good Pub in Oakville. Imported tap selection has been diminished by pandemic and supply chain problems but is getting better. Good attentive but not intrusive staff.
Great food cold beer and staff is quick and friendly
Very nice
Good atmosphere and very friendly waiters. We had nachos (yes I know out of place for an English pub!) and some drink on the patio. We ve been here before for fish and chips. The food is good and has a nice feeling of authenticity.
Fabulous experience , had the fish and chips for two and a draft beer , the fish was the best I ve had in years, very light crispy batter, excellent service and atmosphere, 5 stars !
The Dowager Empress of downtown Oakville British Pubs is still going strong, great place for a pint or lunch or watching that Big Match on their projection screen.
Customer service was good. Basic menu
Consistently fab, tasty food, especially the buffalo wings! Yum!
Best pub food Ive ever had. Simply phenomenal
My favorite pub in the area and the staff is always awesome.
Excellent food, great staff. Always a great time.
Always truly representative of an English pub with a menu that emphasizes that!
A great pub with character. Was disappointed during Covid mandates although since they dropped them much better.
My favourite place to go :) my fiance is from Scotland and thoroughly enjoys the food here! Everything we have gotten here is so good, especially the deep fried mars bar!
Great authentic style pub.
Great pub. Good menu, good beer selection, good service.
Best fish and chips. Very generous portions and great service.
Came back home for a visit and went here for a drink and nostalgia. 5 stars for the memories I had in there with my friends.
Super cozy bar-restaurant
The service was great and so was the food.
Great food and service
Nice local pub. Friendly and attentive service. The food is quite good. Menu as expected for a pub. Fish and chips are great, nice light and crispy batter.
Excellent GF options. Friendly staff.
Great curry! Delicious fish and chips.
Fantastic place..great owner. Great atmosphere
Zero vegetarian main course options. Staff recommended fish to me as a vegetarian option.
Amazing pub experience. Feels like you re in England. Great service, amazing food, and perfect pints. What more could you want!
Incredibly rude. Hung up on when inquiring about dining options and then yelled over when calling back for an explanation. Avoid if you appreciate respect for your patronage.
Love this place...off the beaten path and thats what makes it good!
Now Ive never been to the UK, Ive never crossed an ocean. Is this traditional British Pub, I could not tell you. What I can tell you is, the vibe is amazing! I love the wood decor, and it has this warm and welcome feeling. The food has never disappointed, and always enjoyed my tune here! It made me feel like I was in place Ive never been. Definitely a Must Have experience!
Great watering hole!
Bloody amazing food, I cannot recommend it enough.
very nice interior atmosphere.
Great food and fantastic service
Bad customer service
Extraordinary curry and steak pie
I love the Queens head had the chicken curry it was ok used to be amazing and also the price was$19 disappointed ugg
Great food and drink
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food.
There were seven off us and everyone liked the food. The curry, fish and chips, jambalaya and bangers and mash were all good. They seemed under staffed versus other visits but got the job done.
Very cozy and classic pub
One of Oakvilles best pubs! True British style
Always a fun local pub to visit. Service is friendly and the food is good. Lots of beer selection. Just a good place to feel at home.
Recently visited after 15 years. So happy to see it stand the test of time. Most comfortable and unpretentious spot for miles.
Great cozy place for drinks and dinner. Staff is so friendly. Lots of beers on tap.
Great food. Great ambiance
Good experience
The food was delicious, service impeccable, atmosphere lovely. Thank you. We had a wonderful evening.
It feel like an old English pub, petty cosy.We had beer, spring rolls and a pub burger. Good enough to go back
Great traditional food and drink menu, yummy!
Exactly what you would expect from a pub in England. Quaint, homey, great pub grub, great selection of draft beers. Older crowd.
We went to The Queens Head for my husband s birthday with two family members. This place is Cozy and traditional with tons of personality, warm friendly atmosphere. Staff are attentive we would love to thank Alison and Nicole for being such a great waitress, you guys made our day with beautiful smile and kind words. Definitely we will be back. Thanks again
