Community Restaurant in Oakville

I must give high points to the atmosphere, however the food quality was below average. Such an expensive menu should deliver more. Crab cake has barely crabs inside no taste. It has such a hard bread coating outside it is difficult to cut with a knife. Disappointed with the texture and overall taste. Gnocchi was highly praised but unfortunately it has the texture of mashed potato. Burger buns seem to be not fresh and not treated well so they were very dry. Spending so much for a meal and leaving so disappointed is underwhelming. But i must admit their drinks were good.

We ordered from the brunch menu, food was delicious and staff was very friendly. Kids loved the pancakes and waffles. I love their avocado toast and lettuce cups. Will visit again.

Food is ok, and service barely meets expectations. They automatically charge a 15% gratuity that you can t opt out of. When you pay it will ask you to add more tip. I ll never go back for this reason. Tips are earned, not given.

Ive been here 3 times and the first and second time were great, but my last visit was not so good. The 2nd time I came I had the Truffle Gnocchi and it was delicious! So much so, I had been craving it so I went back and ordered it again, but this time it was complete mush. The Gnocchi was definitely overlooked and the entire dish was bland (I even added salt and pepper) and my partner felt the same (we both ordered Gnocchi). I really hope this was a one-off because I really like this dish but am relucant to order it again.

What an overhyped place. Went with a bunch of vegans and as a person that eats meat, Jesus this food looks dull and boring. Tried it all but man no taste and its cardboard. Service took 2 hours for food.

Second time to this establishment - first time was pre-pandemic and was not a good experience. Decided to give them a second chance giving the time lapse. Definitely could have been better. Saturday Brunch menu. I had the Just Egg Benny - experienced chefs can do so much with Just Egg (liquid) and other vegan egg options - but this item just had the frozen Just Egg folded patty (which I make at home in a toaster). Hollandaise was sparse; Homefries were regular fries with spicy coating; salad was wilty and the lettuce ends were brown. But the Benedict was tasty so that s good. Husband had the tacos and enjoyed them. Sister had a Breakfast Burrito; served with a side of the same Homefries as I had (i.e., spiced-up fries); however, the breakfast burrito had the same Homefries inside the burrito as well - that s a lot of fries pretending to be Homefries . One child had a bowl of penne with just butter - about a cup of cooked penne (paid $13 for what is probably 1/2 Cup of dried penne - I could have bought 10 lbs of dried penne for this price). Other two children asked for nachos with the cheese & sour cream topping. We specifically asked that there be NOTHING else on the Nachos - thinking that they might garnish with scallions as I ve seen at other restaurants. Server acknowledged this. Nachos came out with both scallions on top and roasted red peppers throughout. We sent those back and again asked for JUST NACHOS - no scallions and no red peppers (which were not noted on the menu. One serving of Nachos came out as we asked; the second serving was obviously the one we sent back with with the visible red peppers removed - there were many more buried under the visible nachos - so they appeared to have just hand-picked off the visible red peppers instead of plating a fresh batch. My son also asked for fries - so I asked for a serving of fries - but was sure to state just plain fries, no spicy topping like on the ones I got ... it s for a young child who wants plain food. Fries came out with lots of oregano/herbs tossed into the bowl. I raised this with the server and inquired if they ve ever served young children at this place - a lot of young children just want PLAIN foods. Anyway, apologies were provided and a new bowl of fries were set on the table and those were enjoyed by my son. A manager spoke to us afterward about our experience - so I do appreciate that. He removed the automatic 15% gratuity that is added to the bill in lieu of manual tipping. He also removed the cost of the nachos and the fries. I didn t at that time notice the $13 for the cup of plain penne - oh well. For the cost of the food, I do not recommend this establishment. Definitely don t take children who do not yet have a discerning palate. There are many other restaurants in Oakville offering amazing plant-based foods and service to boot. That said, I did like the paint/decor of the restaurant. Good luck to them. They definitely have a mixture of amazing reviews and poor reviews. Guess it depends on who is working at the time you go.

A vegan friendly joint where they charge a mandatory 15% service charge on top of their menu price. It is essentially a mandatory tip but since their sign says if they did not charge it, it would have been added to food prices. The food was middle of the pack from other places. I respect their transparency but i did not think what i had was worth what I paid + service charge

UPDATED REVIEW AUG 2024: Stopped in for lunch recently and I have to say, everything has gotten better. Food is great but service? Matthew is above and beyond one of the best servers I ve had in memory. Attentive in the right way, suggested the wifi network when my laptop came out, chatted and never seemed bothered by anything. Thoughtfully asked me if I prefer to have my main entered later as it would come out too close to my app, and when I said maybe in 15 min , he came back in 15 min to confirm. He is a gem and I hope management sees this review to know how great he is! - old review 2022 - Been going here for a while now. Food is excellent and super tasty even for non-vegans. The cauliflower bites, risotto, and chocolate cake are standouts. The service is starting to lack though. Appetizers and mains coming out at different times, food not always made correctly or missing items, and backlog of orders resulting in 1+ hour waits (which I acknowledge is an issue at a lot of places right now). Once the newer waitstaff are a bit more comfortable, it ll be definitely deserving of 5 stars.

Unbelievably rude staff considering the prices they charge - Dennis refused to allow me to speak with the manager - told me it would take over 40 minutes to prepare a bowl of soup for take out - shocking! - will NEVER go there again

The food was great, but the service was extremely slow. We were the first ones to get to the restaurant when it opened. But the last ones to get the food. Also, we wanted to sit outside on the patio, then moved inside because no one came to serve us because we felt they forgot about us.

My husband and I went on Sunday afternoon. We had the nachos, buffalo wings and truffle fries- all dairy free and gluten free. The food was delicious! The service was great and the place has a cool vibe. We ll be back!

We used Community to help us cater two functions we were hosting around our son s wedding; a rehearsal party and brunch. Alka helped me select items for the rehearsal party for 20 people. Not a morsel left - everything was delicious. We had several items added to complement our brunch for our vegan and dairy free guests. All options equally fantastic. Have been here a few times over 2 years and the food is delicious! Some of the best vegan food I have had. Their lasagna is a standout for me. Along with the food they have a pretty decent selection of cocktails and coffee/tea beverages. Unfortunately, the service has been slowly declining. The restaurant is frequently understaffed, and even in a fairly empty restaurant, it can take a while to be seated and your order taken. There are long periods of time where there is no staff in the front of house. Drinks can take a long time, and there are some oddities, such as coffee being served in a water glass, or tea with water that is still boiling. My wife and I both love this restaurant and want it to succeed. With some more care and attention placed on staffing and training it would be truly excellent. Parking: Steet parking is usually easy to find.

The Service is great but the food is horrible. Things you should know: 1) there is no milk and no meat served here 2) the portion sizes are pretty small except surprisingly the kids plates (my friend wanted a smaller side but it came out in a pretty big dish) 3) flies; there were fruit flies bothering us in the restaurant the entire time 4) its actually pretty hot inside the actual restaurant, they had fans on but it was blowing hot air around essentially 5) there is a service fee included in the bill yet the machine still requests a tip This list isnt to make or break someone going to the restaurant just things I wouldve wanted to know before going. Food was good, BUT get rid of automatic service fee. For better transparency, increase prices to pay staff better or leave tipping to diners to reward good service. Entitled tipping has gotten out of control Edit after response to owner: its a shady practice relying on customers not being on the lookout when skimming menu prices thus overpaying their budget. It takes control away from customers by incentivizing bad service by servers. Many customers (as demonstrated by other reviews critiquing this practice) dont end up seeing this separate writing for the fees before ordering, including myself where I only found out through reviews (I cant even find it on their website easily, if its even on there). Just be transparent and raise the menu prices like every other business while promoting the fact that a portion of increased prices is paid toward staff having a livable wage, so people know what the cost is going to be BEFORE they arrive and decide whether to dine there accordingly. Are the owners taking a cut which could explain why theyre adamant on keeping it? Like I said, food was good but I wont be returning due to these business decisions - itll always be a poor excuse to add a hidden fee to an already pricy menu. Thankfully I havent come across another business who does this (other than tables with many guests). Do better.

We recently celebrated my mom s 70th birthday at the Kerr street location. The food was varied, delicious and the service was fantastic. I asked the manager to have the chef make a birthday cake and she was able to do it on short notice. It was so good .the chef came out and checked on us, she was lovely. Thank you for helping to make her birthday so delightful!

Stopped here for a late lunch. We were seated right away, and attended to immediately. The iced chai lattes were refreshing, perfect for a hot day. We had their cauliflower wings as a starter and they were divine. Easily the best cauliflower wings Ive ever had, just the right amount of spice, with a lovely tzatziki style dip. The gourmet burger was good, particularly the tomato chutney. Its nice to find a flavourful char on a veggie burger, really enhanced it. Truffle fries were tasty and the addition of gravy was a nice touch. If I was to offer even the slightest note, a salt and vinegar fry option would have made my day. We got dessert to take home and the chocolate chip cookie was awesome, but the lovely carrot cake was overwhelmed by a too-sweet frosting. Overall, cant recommend enough, if you love vegan food, eat here. Vegetarian options: Entire place is vegan. Dietary restrictions: Offered ample gluten and keto friendly options.

It was my first time eating vegan and my meal was delicious. Great coffee too. What made the day was the genuine warmth of the staff. Excellent service.

We went for a sister s birthday lunch. We received a nice welcome; the food was delicious; the service was great. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. We will plan on returning.

This was my second visit. My first visit a few weeks ago was fantastic! - great food and service. My second visit was not great. Very poor service and the food was definitely not as good. The gin sour drink was way too strong and not at all like the one I had on my first visit, one of the meals was way too salty, and we were pretty-much ignored for the entire visit. It might have been an off day but probably won t be back. Edit: I just spoke with an owner who was great to deal with and I will definitely need to give it another try. My first visit was really positive and everyone can have an off day.

Eaten here many times, however mothers day was very disappointing. Menu was extremely limited which is understandable to some degree, however the price was very high and quality very, very low. My parents were disappointed and the quality we experienced previously many times wasnt to be seen. Portions were less aswell, the pancakes didnt even come with any fruit, butter, or maple syrup showing the cost cutting. We ended up paying and eating elsewhere, no other restaurant we found had a limited menu or even close to the price community had. As a vegan, Ive celebrated many occasions here and this was our last sadly. Hopefully they see this and dont pull this on anyone else at another time or holiday.

I really like the service the food and the atmosphere but do not understand the 15%tip .I understand completely that the employees should be paid a living wage but I dont understand that it is up to the customer to make this happen and not the employer.I enjoy paying tips for good service but dont like been forced.I was there the other day and on leaving mentioned the tip is included right and she said yes a service fee but you can pay a tip though.I was kind of shocked with it.

My favourite vegan restaurant hands down! We loved the cauli buffalo bowl and the lasagne so delicious! And the rolo cake was so creamy without dairy and so yummy! This is my go to spot when I want a comforting meal! Highly recommend

Well we were looking for a good brunch and we had this place bookmarked . We totally forgot it was vegan. We are meat eaters but this place still satisfied our food cravings. We had the truffle fries , butter tofu and pancakes. Very delicious I cannot say which I liked best. Very hospitable and also very nice decor ! Ive been to some vegan places before in Toronto where things just tasted strange, but not this place ! Id come back again !

The food was amazing. Two of us shared cauliflower wings and a small green goddess salad before our mains of curry and lasagna. Portions were so wonderfully generous that we each took home half of our mains. Our waiter was polite and friendly. I only gave a 4 star for atmosphere as there were very few people there. Maybe a few plants about since it s plant based. We will definitely return as food was definitely 5 star! Vegetarian options: It is so nice to have a full menu to choose from rather than one or two options at a regular restaurant. Great choices and very flavourful

Tried this place as part of the Taste of Oakville event ( lunch menu) and I must say its a beautiful plant based restaurant with cool interiors and delicious food. House salad was fresh , cauliflower wrap was juicy and the pecan turtle absolutely chocolatey ! Will definitely return to try more dishes

As someone who is not vegetarian, this vegan restaurant has hearty meals that will leave you full. The texture & flavour of the food is great, which was my main concern before I went. Dietary restrictions: Meals are meat free and lactose free, a number of meals are also gluten free.

Such an amazing experience at Community!! I m visiting Oakville and tried the food for dinner and it was incredible. I really enjoyed everything we ordered especially the poutine and cauliflower wings. The service was great and the owner was also very nice:) I wish we had a Community where I live!

Dinner for two and we were very happy with this little gem we found. Kerr village is very quaint and parking was easy and right out front. Community is nicely decorated and clean. It was super easy to make a reservation through their website. We ordered drinks and apps and mains and dessert. Bang bang broccoli was delish and the order of fries was quite large and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they are seasoned with rosemary for some reason so that was a turn off for us. Mains were the gnocchi and lasagna. Both very tasty and decent sized portions. Gnocchi had really great flavour but was a bit softer than we prefer. Almost mushy but wasnt a deal breaker. Even better the next day in the fridge. Key lime pie for dessert was awesome and the turtle was good but quite small. Just the right size for my partner though. Decaf espresso was excellent. Prices were very fair and service was good. We really appreciated the included service charge set up as well as all of the explanations of why that was implemented as well as the background info on the owners etc. Really great spot and we will be back.

The Buffalo Cauliflower is the best I ve ever had. Incredible food. The burgers are excellent, the lettuce wraps are beautiful and the Rolo cake is divine. We re not vegans but we LOVE Community.

I love everything about this restaurant and was so happy to find it. The food is absolutely delicious and the decor is absolutely beautiful. It gives off a very lovely, chill vibe. Im definitely coming back!

The food was okay, descent I would say. But, what totally shocked me was the 15% service charges on top of taxes. My expectation to pay for a single dish for a single person was around 20-30$. I ended up paying about $40 because I wasnt aware about this dine-in policy. I know they have it written in the smallest font possible on the bottom of their menus about the service charge but to be fair, they should mention it to everyone as they choose to sit in and eat. This was an unexpected expense which ruined my experience. Otherwise, would have come back to try other stuff on the menu but not anymore. :)

Visited here for the umpteenth time last weekend. As always, top notch service and food! Will visit again, I highly recommend.

I just stumbled upon this place and was caught by surprise! The menu has really great and creative items. Food was delicious!!! An auto 15% service charge is added to your bill, which is not too bad compared to other places where the pin pad starts at 18% as your lowest option. Honestly this place has a lot of potential but is very easy to miss driving by.

I went with my family for a vegetarian dinner and we were amazed by the delicious crab cakes, and the presentation of the meals. Last but not least, the server Mourad was very suggestive for the great options provided and his professionalism made our experience wonderful. Will definitely be returning!

Cute little place, nice decor and friendly staff. Came for lunch on a nice day. Tiny patio so we were seated inside. Interesting menu, however, food was not great. I had a faux sushi bowl and it was not a good combination of items. Some were extremely salty or strong brine flavor. Friends had colorful combinations of food, but some complained fries were more like roast potatoes.

Community is the best vegan restaurant I ve ever tried! And I m vegetarian. The decor is adorable, the servers are super nice and they have mastered the art of vegan food. We ordered the french toast and the avocado toast, and both the dishes were absolutely amazing! I will be going there again and again.

10/10. Green goddess bowl was fresh and so delicious, and the crab cake burger was sooooooo flavourful. A hidden gem in the heart of Kerr street. We are so happy we discovered this place. We will be back 100%. Lastly the owner was so lovely and came by to check in with us. She was very passionate about the food.

A+ SERVICE I came here for Sunday brunch - the place was beautiful and the staff were incredibly pleasant. Unfortunately, a few minutes after we ordered we received news that a dear friend suddenly passed away. The waitress was incredibly understanding, made arrangements for our meal to be taken to go, and asked the chef to expedite our order. I genuinely appreciated their empathy. I love the food here - everything on the menu is so yummy and the GF options are so appreciated. The staff is so friendly and great service. My daughter and I went to their Drag Lunch at their Port Credit location and it was amazing! So much fun and highly recommended!

What can I say about this treasure? The food is delicious. The Vibes are immaculate. The service is extraordinary. Its such a comfortable and cool place to go and I feel like Im treated like family by the staff. Also love the special events.

This place is definitely a hidden gem for delicious and comforting vegan food. :) I love the vibe of the restaurant. The ambiance is very modern and chic! The staff are all very attentive and courteous. We could tell there had been so much love put into our food. The lentil dosa, risotto, and gnocchi were absolutely delicious! Portions were perfect! We also got a HUGE slice of vegan cake at the end, which we had trouble believing was vegan because it tasted so creamy and indulgent. Also really enjoyed their lattes! I would highly recommend coming here. Very grateful to have a restaurant like this in the area.

Got the Chickn N Waffles for brunch. Honestly this is one of the best meals that I have had at a restaurant. Absolutely delicious.

My experience was mostly pleasant. Good food, good presentation, but pricey for what the food was/tasted like. The two servers we had were very friendly, great interior décor, and a variety of food and drink options. My first point of concern was with them forgetting about one of our orders, almost an hour after ordering, we asked if it was still coming, the server seemed surprised but played it off as yes it is totally coming. I mentioned that if it isnt made, please cancel the order, she said she will check. 15 minutes later (20 minutes after all the meals had been finished, out came the 3rd dish). The server was super nice; apologized and offered 1 dessert for the table (party of 6). Even though this was handled nicely I do wish that they would have either not forgotten the order or cancelled it altogether because we were full by the time our last dish came out. And eating a cold grilled cheese is just not the same. My second point of concern is with the establishment itself, they automatically add a 20% service charge(15% on the taxes as well) in lieu of tips to help support a living wage. While I am all for a living wage, and provide living wage to my own employees, I do not charge my customers extra fees to cover the living wage of my employees. Each and every employee should deserve a proper wage, regardless of the industry they work in. And these wages are the cost of doing business, which is often factored into the price of the goods/services. Having to pay $8 for a lemonade and $18 for a Broccoli appetizer would imply that they are already passing on the costs to the customer, let alone adding another fee for providing a living wage. Most restaurants are transparent/upfront about this and also make it a fixed cost but including it in their pricing. Community only mentioned it when the server brought the bill, not giving the customer any option or a heads up, and charged a higher rate based on your order, and by including the tax amount that was also being tipped on. TLDR: Good food, good ambience, but I felt cheated by the owners due to their lack of transparency and will unfortunately not be going back there. Vegetarian options: The restaurant is vegan so everything on the menu was vegetarian friendly. Parking: Some paid street parking available, mostly full.

My sister and I went on April 23 7pm. The service, the food, and the beautiful ladies who served us were so nice, kind, warm, and gentle! I hope they get this recognition. The food was superb!! Literally everything we ordered was hot, fresh, and tasted amazing! The location was cute and cozy as well. I will definitely come again for the service, food, and the ambiance while eating. Parking: The time we went and the day we went there was parking just behind and around the building in which the restaurant is located.

I organized brunch for my baby shower at the Port credit location with Alka. She was very helpful and accommodating throughout the process. We had such a wonderful time. Food was delicious, everyone loved it. Space was gorgeous Perfect spot for my shower with the theme. And staff was very attentive. So happy with how everything turned out. I will definitely be back to try many other things on the menu

Meal was really good, service was amazing, was ready to give a 5 star review, but when i saw the back of the restaurant was appalled by the lack of hygiene, no hair nets or beard nets. Rice and food items were on the ground (that I personally watched a cook use) not the minimum 6 inches off the ground Definitely won t be back :(

Love Community! Everyone is so kind and the food is amazing. Last time I visited I had recently broken my ankle so they made sure I had space for my crutches and to elevate my foot. This is my go-to lunch & brunch spot!

This is indeed the first time ever dining at a vegan restaurant and everything was PERFECT!!!!!! Every bite sent my tastebuds in to a pleasant frenzy. You can taste the LOVE in these well prepared meals. I live in the USA and plan to dine here whenever I am in Canada.

The best vegan food in Oakville, by far. I have ordered takeout countless times over the last few years and dined in a few times as well. The food never disappoints and the staff are always wonderful!

Amazed at how tasty the tuna poke bowl was, with my eyes closed I wouldve thought it was tuna! A warm welcome, great customer service and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a catch up with a good friend. The truffles were also fab, and the take out crinkle ginger cookie was a hit with my daughter...looking forward to trying out other items

Large menu with lots of variety. Healthy salads (but so good) or indulgent vegan food like Mac and cheese, alfredo pasta and burgers. Delicious food and very pretty interior. Best Vegan Restaurant that I have ever been to as a veganand a gourmet vegan chef for almost 20 years. They cook like I and my wife cook for ourselves. No detail was overlooked. The food was cooked perfectly! Well done Vegetarian options: Exclusively a vegan restaurant.

2 stars because our server was lovely and the hibiscus lemonade was amazing. If I could give negative for my French toast I would .. it was so hard and dry I asked for more syrup to see if it would help. It did not. Hard to chew. Sitting like a brick in my tummy. I couldn t eat it - left the rest. Told the server. They took off 50% for price of French toast .. I told them it was cold, hard to chew, worst French toast I ve ever had and it was not removed from my bill?? I m not surprised. My first experience here I had hair in my meal and they took off $1.10 I ve been back a couple of times and food was great. But today my friends, is THE LAST time we will go here. To not respect the customer enough to remove the item that I couldn t eat because of horrible food prep . That speaks volumes. My partners food was also hard to chew and very very dry - waffles. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We went into Community Restaurant as it looked really good online. We were pointed to our seat, and asked to go sit down without the hostess/server seating us. We sat down, and were given room temperature water. I informed the waitress of my allergies, and the waitress looked uninterested and unsure of whether its going to be in contact with my food. This was a concern for me and decided to order just the sweet potato fries as I was not interested in taking a trip to the hospital. The food came, and it was over salted. My Sweet Deams mocktail tested like it was going bad, and halfway through decided I cant do it anymore. Our friend did not enjoy their food, and only partially ate it as they were starving. We all ended up having to get food elsewhere afterwards. My biggest gripe with all of this was the auto-gratuity. No where is it listed on their website, let alone outside the restaurant. You can only find it listed when you go inside, and sit at the table, where there is ONE paper for the whole table that says this. It is 15% auto-gratuity to ensure competitive industry compensation and benefits for our valued team-members. They state In order for all of our staff to earn a living wage, we feel its important to get rid of tipping and implement a service fee The definition of gratuity is something given voluntarily or beyond obligation. This should be called what it is: a fee. The service was slow, missing our food at some points, and not being attentive whats so ever. The second server was offended afterwards when we didnt tip extra, despite having the 15% tip already forced on us for non-existent service.

This is amazing vegetarian restaurant. The food is always delish! I m not a vegetarian, but enjoy everything I always eat here! The staff is friendly and helpful. Sometimes they get busy in the rush and forget you. But not so much that I would say they re rude. Not a great location (Kerr village), like you wouldn t come here for a day. Unless you headed downtown Oakville. Parking is easy enough. Would recommend time and again for anyone looking for a good (vegetarian) meal! We have visited this place many times in the past and always enjoyed the food they serve. We have came here to celebrate Valentine s Day, anniversary, and date nights. We have tried their Lentil Crepe, Chick Butter Poutine, Mushroom Risotto, Cauliflower, Pancakes, and Hollandaise Benny Sausage Plate. The one turnoff we have is the mandatory gratuity. We were happy to pay for the 15% fee two years ago. The last couple of months, the friendly service that the restaurant charges a fee of 15% has not been meeting the industry standard in the last two visits we had. Yesterday morning, my fiancé ordered an iced dirty chai latte and was charged $13 with $5 for espresso. I was slightly appalled.

My Mom and I are diabetic and we are grateful for the keto-friendly options. I notice that they have a lot of menu options noted as keto-friendly, or keto-friendly options. We had a lot of questions about the menu and the staff patiently answered them all. The restaurant staff are very accommodating for dietary needs. We ordered the Crispy Tofu, Sweet & Spicy Lettuce Cups, Butter Tofu (we replaced the rice with cauliflower rice). For our dessert, we enjoyed the Heart Truffles with Turmeric Lattes! Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and hot. The waiter, Khaja (along with our waitress, but we didnt get her name) were so friendly and helpful. We love supporting small, independent businesses, and I will be back with more family and friends to try out more things from their large menu. At the entrance door into the restaurant, there is one step, so if a person was alone and needed an accessible restaurant, they may have to call the restaurant first to be sure to have help. The restrooms inside the restaurant are fully accessible. Thank you, Alka, Khaja, see you soon! Six stars our of five! They have a wonderful dog-friendly patio as well. The best vegan poutine I ever had.

Amazing as always. Will be back again! Kid-friendliness: That time that we went was not overly busy and there was a family with a few kids there. They were well-behaved. Nobody gave them any mind. I would also bring my children here and feel comfortable.

Our school was so happy and pleased to have catered from Community for our Staff Luncheon. We have a 30+ staff, many with various dietary restrictions. I was able to work with Alka, and her team to put together a selection of items that would accommodate all our staff. This was our first time trying out Community and every staff member enjoyed every bite of the food. We had the community salad, cesar wrap, BLT, Tomatoe pesto grilled sandwich, seasoned fries, bang bang broccoli, cauli wings and cauli florets ( my personal favourite) but all were super declious and filling. We are so pleased with their service, and we look forward to working with them for future school events. Thank you Community Team

Omg where do I even begin?! My boyfriend and I went to Community Restaurant for the first time on Sunday September 20th to celebrate my birthday two days early and we felt like royalty!! Vanusa, one of the owners is such a kind lady and she s so full of positive energy - it was so refreshing to be around her. Amy was our waitress and she was out of this world efficient, polite, funny, helpful, informative, etc. We told her the specifics (Our tolerance for heat/spicy foods is no good lol, we re unsure of what some ingredients are, etc.) and she gladly went through the entire menu with us without hesitation. The food was outstanding...we ordered a variety of dishes and couldn t even finish them because the portions were very generous but we were so excited knowing that we d have all of these gourmet leftovers. Shout out to chef Josh who was cookin up all of our food yesterday...how delicious!! I have been going here for years and it is one of my favourite vegan restaurants! Amazing food and vibes

I had great hopes coming here for the first time as my wife is vegan and it would be awesome to have a local restaurant that served vegan food. Im sad to say I was quite disappointed by the place. The sandwich I had as part of the Taste of Oakville Lunch was swimming in so much sauce I should have gotten a spoon with it. The rest of the food was underwhelming as well and definitely not worth the price. The cup of tea I had with the meal was $5. I looked up the brand, they sell that tea for $1 online and likely less if you buy wholesale. So thats a 500% markup. Total price for two lunch specials, a latte and a tea - just under $80. While I found the prices to be high in general (I get it, its Oakville, were all millionaires here and should be soaked), the most annoying thing was the mandatory 15% (18% for 6+) service charge in lieu of tips. You can call it whatever you want, its still a forced tip - which is supposed to be at the discretion of the customer. The restaurant says that its to help support a living wage for all employees. If that is so, and you give NO choice about paying it, then why not just call it what it is - a price increase? Or maybe take 15% out of your profit margin and pay your employees more? I find the approach dishonest as a hidden price increase is exactly what it is. But THAT is not even the worst part. When I asked the server about it, and asked if they get the extra $ directly as a tip - the server just gave me a roll of the eyes and an ironic smile. The message was obvious. So I tipped the server 20% in cash. They deserved it as they did a great job serving us and shouldnt be responsible for managements decisions. Needless to say we will not be back. Response to the owner response: I came in on March 3, still have the receipt. While you are transparent in your service charge policy, and you do have the information in a little holder on every table - it is clearly not as obvious as you think it is since I missed it, as apparently so have other customers. Regardless of the notices, the fact remains that it is a forced tip and something that is a common complaint among the reviewers here. You ask how can we be better? That is how. Get rid of this non-optional charge, and either increase your prices by X% so you can do better for every employee or trust that the quality of your product and service is such that the customers will tip anyways.

Love eating at Community. Accommodating for all dietary restrictions and these accommodations dont reflect in the taste or quality of the meal. Every time I dine here I try something new, but you HAVE to try their breakfast homefries, my absolute favourite!! Always looking forward to going back for another meal. love this place and have been here a few times in the past and food was always so delicious. yesterday however my food arrived cold, which was a first for this place but the employee working there was so kind and apologetic (even offered to go and get it remade for me but i had an appt so i couldn t wait longer for a new one). anyways he ended up taking it off the bill which i really appreciated. because of this a not so pleasant experience became a pleasant one and i ll continue to go back for sure. and although the food was cold it was still delicious so quality is still there.

Great food, excellent service and surely a creative menu. Food is always fresh and everything is made from scratch. Moreover, there are also bunch of gluten-free options. If you haven t already, give this place a try and you won t be disappointed.

I got take-out from here. Overall, great experience. The food was really good. I had the Buffalo Cali Wing Bowl and Sauteed Spinach and Kale. The prices were on the high end for the portion size but not out of line compared to other vegan restaurants. My only criticism is that the online ordering platform was not user friendly and I ended up having to go in to the restaurant to order. The restaurant seemed understaffed (no one was there when I walked in both to order and pick up) but food was ready on time and staff were very friendly! I had the most lovely dining experience at Community Resto! Maria and Kaja were both so welcoming, personal and provided an optimal dining experience. Not to mention, the brunch menu is delicious. Also, another customer came in asking questions about keto options and both helped so willingly without hesitation. Would recommend Community Resto to anyone wanting a welcoming dining experience with great cuisine. wow, this is a tough review to write. my previous experiences at community have been nothing but outstanding - from the service, to the atmosphere, and the delicious food. unfortunately, i had a much different experience tonight. i decided to bring my family for a nice dinner, but even from the beginning i could sense something was off. i m not sure if it was lack of staff, but the service left a lot to be desired. we waited almost an hour to receive our food, but thankfully the appetizers were very tasty. the temperature in the restaurant was very warm, and we had to step out multiple times to cool down. it was also difficult to receive water, but that likely has to do with lack of staff. when the meals came, it was a mix of reviews. some meals were amazing, others weren t so great. as someone who has worked in the food service industry, i m understanding of the situation and i believe it was just an off night. it is just unfortunate to experience this with my family around. with that said, i ll be back to community to give it another try. i do truly enjoy the food and generally the service is wonderful.

The concept behind Community is great; woman owned restaurant, aiming at building an inclusive place for vegan, gluten free and soy free food. Its clear that the food is made onsite with care. The menu can be difficult to navigate as the menu items are called things like pizza, burger, lox, crab cakes but, being vegan and gluten free are made of entirely non-animal ingredients. For people who do not regularly eat vegan or gluten free this can set an expectation of what you are ordering, so I would read the ingredients or ask the waiter for recommendations. While there I had the soup of the day which was a tortilla-like soup, which was a bit too sour for my taste and the wild rice was distracting. The mushroom pizza was accurately described as by a party member as mushroom soup on dry bread- it was okay, but not something I would go back for. Other people in the party enjoyed the fries and the crabcake burger, so maybe that is more of a party pleaser. The mocktails were excellent and the waiters were kind, quick and helpful. The decor is lovely and carefully picked out. The entrance is wheelchair accessible and there is indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is on the street or in the parking lot behind the building which is free after 6 pm. All in all, I can see the appeal and the need for a restaurant like Community. If eating a vegan, gluten free, soy free diet, you may enjoy what it has to offer, however Community might not be for everybody, which is okay. Food was okay I guess, nothing special. It took too long to prepare. 30 minutes for a pizza! Also, the service was a little too welcoming. Staff members kept coming multiple times to check on us and make small talk, which is nice but it got annoying at times. We didn t even finish our nachos and they asked if we were done and offered to take it away? I don t know if I would visit again. A little pricey as well and the 15% tip is already included in your receipt so the employees can receive a liveable wage .

Such a delightful experience! Friendly staff, quick service, delicious food and great company! We both thought the crab cakes were the standout of the meal for us!! But everything I tasted was mmm SO GOOD!! I even came home and ended up ordering the thanksgiving menu for the upcoming holidays! I am very much looking forward to my Thanksgiving dinner :)

Was very excited to go here after the rave reviews and reputation. Unfortunately my friend and I did not have quite a great experience nor did we find the food anything spectacular. The prices are quite exorbitant, $21 for avocado toast, really? Not to mention we were sitting right beside the coffee bar area and it took nearly 20 minutes for our order to be taken then another 25 for two hot beverages to be made. Not sure if there was a staff shortage or something happening they should have informed us but instead we were constantly waving the servers down and asking them to come to our table. The food itself was nothing spectacular. We started off with a cinnamon bun that was dry and stale. My matcha latte had all the matcha at the bottom and my friend ordered a chai tea which was literally steamed milk poured over a hot tea bag (20 mins for that??) Our main course arrived but we were disappointed with what we were served. My chicken and 1/2 waffle was not bad, but we got basically a handful of home fries each on our plate and my friends eggs benedict was basically a vegan egg McMuffin, not eggs benny..... Anyone can take just egg out of the freezer and warm it up, we were expecting a bit more. Wouldnt go back but glad i got to try it. I forgot to mention the automatic gratuity. I think that is one thing thats stuck in our craw more than anything else, the service and food was not up to our expectations and we did not feel it was fair to have an automatic gratuity added to our bill. Instead of making excuses as to why things are the way they are, take the feedback from your customers and use it to improve your service and dishes. As an entrepreneur and business owner myself, criticism is what fuels me to improve in every aspect of my life and yes, words hurt sometimes but they also help. Been vegan for years, and have been to a variety of restaurants in several countries. I m particular and have high standards, sometimes disappointed with popular vegan spots. This place is some of the best food i ve ever had. It nails the mix of being creative while still being super flavourful. I shared the gnocchi and lox dishes. Definitely recommend.

A lovely place with good food, great atmosphere and service. I like a little less dressing on my salada but thats a personal choice. I highly recommend Community.

LOVED this place! I am not vegan or vegetarian and my husband loves his meat but this place blew us away! The vegan tzatziki sauce was fantastic and I would have loved a little tub to take home . The ambiance is good and the choice of options are good too. But I dint find the taste to be that great. To be clear, I m not a vegan I was here just to give it a try .the chicken burger was good but pasta pizza dint taste good. The cheese substitutes used in pizza/pasta were probably not close enough to give you a real pasta/pizza feel!

Expected this place to be good given strong rating on Google here, but really disappointed. Went for Sunday brunch, pancakes and other items were cold and tasteless. This isn t a function of the food being vegan vegan food can be incredible!! $7+ for basic coffee seems ridiculous. Also bill includes minimum 15% tip which is explained on menu as to ensure employees have decent lives, which that should be the employers responsibility? while tips should be based on customer experience. On customer service they make you wait 10-20 min for a table, even if the place is relatively empty and there are at least 5 empty tables. Disappointed that this couldn t be a local gem, but won t be coming back.

My friend and I went out to lunch today and we were very impressed! My friend is not vegan but so heavily enjoyed the meal. We got the tofu lettuce wraps, avocado toast, freshly squeezed orange juice, a matcha latte & a chai latte. We also tried the new mango-coconut drink on their menu. Everything about our dining experience was perfect- the interior of the resto is amazing and well thought-out, our server, Parth, was very welcoming and brought great recommendations, and the food looked and tasted AMAZING. The team both front & back of house really puts care into every step. We will both absolutely be returning to this location, as well as trying out the Oakville location. I have been to this restaurant three times in the past few months and I have never been disappointed. The service is great - Maria is always kind and helpful and goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable; and Khaja is very friendly, makes great conversation and knows exactly what to recommend! And the food is incredible! There is so much flavour and the portion sizes are fantastic! I will be back many more times - looking forward to checking out the Port Credit location soon too!

The sauce for the #Gnocchi is SIMPLY DIVINE! -I have committed myself to going back to try the rest of the menu! I like that almost everything is made in-house! The service was 5 star. I had a friend whos allergies were extensive! The way the staff accommodated her was excellent! No eye rolls or mistakes! My 5 other friends who werent plant based really loved it as well & are also coming back with me! Quick tip! Order the #Nachos as soon as you sit down - because they are one of the tastiest #nachos Oakville hands down! - I would say the #ambience is chill enough to host a birthday, bridesmaid, retirement, anniversary party, etc! - I cant leave without mentioning their desserts!
