210 Lakeshore Rd E, Oakville, ON L6M 3R7, Canada
Modern, upscale French restaurant offering multicourse dinners & wine pairings amid chic decor.
Very pleased with the food and service! Our server Fernando was truly one of a kind - the most genuine and authentic server I’ve ever had, with great recommendations! We will back, Fernando.
The service was exceptional, the atmosphere inviting, and the quality of the food was nothing short of superb. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a remarkable dining experience. I would rate it a perfect 10 out of 10. Each dish was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making for a delightful experience. This place truly excels in every aspect.
Most of the November tasting menu was great, except the Wagyu was tough but very flavorful. The otoro was out of this world and the striped bass were very good. My only negative feedback is the cost of tasting menu is not publish and I only find out when the bill came. I was expecting the menu cost around 130 to 140 based on previous reviews but it was 195. I won't say is not worth the price but I don't like that I don't know what I am paying.
Came here to celebrate my other half’s birthday. We had a lovely dinner at Hexagon and it was worth our drive from the city. We got the wine pairing and everything was wonderful. Staff incredibly attentive and friendly, especially the sommelier who was great to chat with about wine. Some of my favourites were the otoro tuna and the pasta. Everything was great and the right amount of food and I have a big appetite.
Very delicious meal. We had the tasting and it did not disappoint! They really try to cater to your needs and help you celebrate your special occasion. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They validate your parking when the park inside the parking garage. This makes things so easy because the square can get really busy. Vibes were also 👌, even coming for a drink would be a nice treat.
We had their tasting menu here for dinner. We decided to go here since it just got a Michelin Star. Overall the food was good. Some of the dishes the flavours were good but didn't quite work together as a cohesive dish. For the price and being a Michelin star restaurant I would have expected a bit more. The service was a bit on the slower side and the drinks were ok.
Highly recommend. True excellence in every bite. Not pretentious at all. Staff very friendly. The food is so good but they don't take themselves too seriously. The chef delivered plates to table and explained the dishes. I love the level of humbleness. Totally blown away. Food is some of the best I ever had. For a Michelin resturant it wasn't egregiously expensive. Had the tasting menu and was spectacular. Thank you chef!
I’ve already forgotten most of the dishes’ names. But you can pretty much order anything without going wrong. Overall not crazy salty or oily so you don’t feel sick after eating (even if you order way too much like us). They use good quality ingredients which is also why. The only thing I didn’t really enjoy is that the cake at the bottom of the carrot cake dessert was a little bit dry. 10/10 would recommend dining here.
Elegant family dinner at Hexagon. Service was warm and friendly, our server made sure we were comfortable at all times. I especially loved our main course waiter who came over and explained each dish and spoke to my kids as well. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Our steak was cooked the way we liked it and was probably the best we have had. Thank you to the bartender for making me a totally different drink not on the menu as I wanted to stick with the same liquor, but a different drink. Thanks to our waitress for making the suggestion. The only thing I would mention is that we were seated near of the front entrance. So every time the door opened, it became uncomfortable and cold. I would like to suggest another seating arrangement for the winter. I can imagine for the summer the door opening would be welcoming. I would definitely come back to Hexagon.
I m a chef and we went for the tasting menu , so before getting to the food , I have to mention John and Laura was our servers , they were amazing, they hit the ABC of service and hospitality and then the food was ridiculous , Victoria ( sour chef , but she was the chef cuz the e chef was on vacation) was hit after hit honestly its was painfuly amazing wow wow no words , the ceo stop by the table to say hi , such amazing experience Thank you guys , really
Equally as important as their Michelin star, I offer my own 5 star rating on Google. Everything we had for our dinner was cooked beautifully - standouts for me were the wagu zabuton, agnolotti, and halibut. The service was professional and warm. I did find it a bit loud sitting on the second floor - partly the people at other tables.
Beautiful and cozy place. Impeccable service, especially the waiter Fernando, who is kind and friendly. Special praise for the desserts, be sure to order them! They have perfect texture and flavors. The Petit gateau 3 leches and the Vasco cheesecake, is extremely delicious and balanced in sweetness and acidity.
Chefs Tasting at Hexagon was a fabulous experience. Our server John was charming and professional. Making authentic zero-proof cocktails is no easy feat, but the mixologist, Kevin, is very talented. The Som, Martin, was knowledgeable and is a great storyteller. The chef Raffi brings a unique fusion of culture from his hometown near Mexico City and his travels throughout the heart of Mexico. Highly recommend and will be back!
Very excited to visit Hexagon. We live in the area and were around when they first took over their space and started to renovate. Getting their Michelin Star was enough to make sure we finally tried it. We went to their Sunday brunch with the $75 prix fix menu. My wife went with the Agnolotti and I took the wagyu. But first, we each tried the fois gras. Which was good. It wasn t amazing, but very good. My wife s agnolotti was good. But it was something we could have found at any of the 13 Italian restaurants in the area. It was ok, but wasn t elevated. My wagyu was a thing of beauty. It was next level crazy fantastic. It s been a couple of weeks since we ve been and I m still talking about it. Most amazing piece of meat I ve ever had. But the side that came with it was kale and a very dumb whipped potato thing. None of that was very good. We each had a pre-brunch drink and a glass of wine with the meal. Food, drink, taxes, tip: $425 We noticed it wasn t super clean. They use pedestal tables with 2 side-by-side metal posts. We noticed the space between the posts hadn t been cleaned. We also saw quite of bit of grunge / dust build up on the overhead lights near the wine storage cabinet. Overall, it was a fine meal. Outside of the wagyu, nothing special. We both wondered how they got a Michelin Star. It was good, don t get me wrong. But for $400+, we could have had 3 fantastic meals elsewhere. We don t oppose to going back, but won t be rushing to return.
My rating is 3.5 overall. My issue was not with the food. The food and drinks were amazing, from apps to dessert, to cocktails, these were all five stars. The carpaccio, melted in your mouth. The lamb saddle was cooked to perfection, and the paw paw dessert was a flavour explosion. My issue mostly stemmed from the service. From check in, they initially, could not find me on the list although my friend had already checked in, and I was left there scrolling through my emails to find my confirmation. Then, when the cocktails were served, the cocktail was spilled, and the server didnt bother apologizing as I was trying to clean up the mess with my napkin. Lastly, as the utensils were being placed on our tables, there was a level of awkwardness and disconnection. It just gave an overall feeling of unwelcomeness. I would love to revisit for the tasting menu, but this experience did give me a pause.
We did the tasting menu. Started off strong with the canapés and first couple courses. Really enjoyed the tamale. After that the dishes were not bad but a bit mediocre. One dish was described to us as a play on laksa curry but had zero resemblance to a laksa curry. The pacing of the tasting menu was not great. It took them ages to clear our plates in between courses and then the next course would then take ages to arrive. Servers often didnt sound like they fully knew the dishes and stumbled in their explanations. Im not sure how hexagon earned a Michelin star to be honest.
Food and service were great but the atmosphere was a bit mediocre in my opinion
Amazing experience from start to finish. Well executed service that is friendly but not stuffy, and prompt (lots of changing of cutlery). The last time we were here it was a great experience and this time also lived up to our expectations. It was a 2.5 hour food adventure that challenged and excited my palate with different textures and wonderful tastes. Every dish was a delight and no two flavours were the same. I loved the striped bass, agnolotti, duck, and wagyu. Desserts were all delish. Service was exceptional by the entire staff. Already dreaming of my next visit....
Had a great brunch experience with family. Going back soon for dinner.
Fantastic dining experience. Celebrated our 10th anniversary and had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Excellent service from all the staff. Really enjoyed the service from the sommelier and his explanation on the wine pairings.
This is the first Michelin star restaurant I have ever eaten at. Its well earned. Lets be frank, its very expensive. Brunch for 2 adults and child with tip was $218.00. But the food was top level. I had the steak and eggs and it was easily one of the top two best steaks I have ever had. They gave us a couple of free glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. Service was outstanding and its a very relaxed atmosphere.
We had the tasting menu, and since they didnt have a non-alcoholic pairing with it, their mixologist made us 4 wonderful and refreshing drinks with our dinner. My favorites in the menu were the bunuelo and tartart, blue fin otoro and agnolotti. They had smooth subtle flavors that did not cloy my senses. I loved the cheesecake, too, and its full rich flavor was perfect to conclude the meal. The duck meat itself was nicely done but I didnt find it in harmony with the sweet accompaniment, and it didnt pair well with the bread and butter, though the bread itself was lovely.
Ive been coming here for more than five years, often by myself because Im wierd like that. What hasnt changed is the consistency of the food and service. It aint cheap, but its damn good. Hearty congratulations to chef Rafa and gm Martin and the rest of the front of the staff for putting your all into this. The Michelin star is just a by-product of your hard work. The left on read and Amalfi highball are all time great cocktails
Usually Id rate this experience as 3 stars, but have to give only 2 since its a Michelin restaurant and expectations should be higher. Food is okay, very mediocre. Service was extremely underwhelming - nothing special at all. If anything , 2 of the 3 people we interacted with conveyed how worried they were cause it was their first day and didnt want to make a mistake or get into trouble which isnt a good sign. Drinks were served in what felt like dollarama glasses, table was wobbly, washroom was tiny with no hangers for coats or bags, we were seated by the front so we were freezing. Overall just the most underwhelming experience ever. It would be un-memorable if it wasnt for the fact the bill was $200 for the most mid food ever (2 drinks, 1.5 apps and 2 mains). Only great thing was their pain au lait starter.
Dinner for 4. First, warmly greeted and nice atmosphere walking in. But realizing how loud it is. Cocktails, amazing very very well done. Appetizers were all incredibly delicious. You can see from the pics, we had the scallops, salad, mushroom and tuna carpaccio. Fantastic. Mains were Wagyu and Halibut. Again, delicious. Sommelier recommended an incredible wine reasonable in price. Deserts paw paw and a dulce de leche cheesecake variation. My summary, incredible food clearly 5 stars. My only request to the owners, it was so loud and hectic maybe there is a way to soften that. would I be back? yes absolutely yes. One of the best food experiences you can have in the GTA and GHA.
A group of 4 us dined here for a birthday dinner and we were blown away. We had all worried that the Michelin star would hype it up too much, but Hexagon exceeded our every expectation. Every course was sensational, but their scallop stands out as a dish we went home dreaming about. We did the à la carte menu and ordered different dishes, with the same delicious result. The atmosphere is fun and unpretentious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with suggestions. A restaurant worthy of any special occasion!
I went with my family for my birthday. We had the tasting menu. Days later i still think about it, as each course was truly delicious! They were so kind to take care of two of us with a milk allergy. You would never know we had anything different from the others. The presentation, the incredible wines they paired with each course, the service phenomenal and the best food i have had in a long time. They are so deserving of their Michelin star rating! Special shout out to the staff, the chef and of course Martin, the sommelier for making my birthday a night to remember:)) Thank you!
Outstanding service and food. Cant wait to try the rest of their menu.
Celebrated my birthday here, everything was above and beyond my expectations from food to service. The open kitchen is very fun to watch as well. Will definitely be back and would 100% recommend.
Good service but a disappointing culinary experience. Things started so well with the server offering us a sample of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary but dinner for us didnt live up to the restaurants Michelin star rating. The restaurant has a pleasant design and ambience; we sat at a table about seven feet from the open kitchen which was noisy and distracting. We found the menu limited and the food was bland and served closer to warm than hot. It was a cool autumn evening in Ontario and I dont think there was a soup offering on the menu. We started with oysters topped with a Ganny Smith apple vinegrette which detracted from the delicate fresh from the sea taste of raw oysters. I had lamb medallions set on a small amount of reduction. The lamb was not tender nor flavourful and it would have benefited from a sauce. I like minimal portions but my plate had a high ratio of protein to vegetables which were scant and more like a garnish than a serving. My husband wanted the Chateaubriand that we saw online but the server wasnt aware of that option. He chose instead a strip loin steak which was also lacking in flavour. It was served with a minimal amount of a potato puree that had an unsatisfying taste and texture, more akin to a Gerber for toddlers blend than a mashed pomme de terre. Perhaps the head chef was missing or it was an off night for the kitchen, but we did not find Hexagon to be a good value proposition or a satisfying experience. We would not recommend the restaurant or frequent it again.
A True Micheline Star restaurant. Dont want to spoil the experience for people who havent been, but everything was 5 Stars.
Great place and amazing food. Top service + a really high end atmosphere. The food is Michelin star level and the place offers a great experience. Amazing wine reco and even better service from the servers.
I really love this place, the food was great - we came for brunch and loved the croissant. Wishing them all the best as they navigate the inevitable identity challenge with the award of the Michelin star. Kid-friendliness: There was a great outdoor area connecting to the piazza so felt quite child friendly for a higher end place.
Yesterday I went to Oakville for Hexagon, a local restaurant that has won numerous awards and is famous for its fine dinning. Last time I tried his young-oriented 7-in-1 restaurant, and I have always been craving for the product of my ancestor who made me rich. No, here is more than one Ive been eating this for a long time [laughing]... The restaurant decoration style is simple and natural, under the shadow of the sunset, I really liked it... We chose the tasting menu. Except for the beef method at the end, which I felt a little confused about, everything else was quite good. Its worth it. The title of one Michelin star [pleasant]
A beautiful experience from start to finish. This is a restaurant that has meaningfully thought about every detail of the customer experience. You wont find better service, the food is resplendent and the atmosphere is wonderful. As Oakvilles newly minted Michelin Star restaurant, this place is not to be missed. Make sure you make a reservation. Underground parking is right around the corner. Dietary restrictions: I have a food allergy and they were unbelievably kind about accomodations.
I admit it! We went after the news of their 1 star. I was so glad we went. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It feels like you are dining at a neighborhoody place. The server is extremely knowledgeable of the menu. When we expressed disappointment that one of the listed dessert is no longer available as peaches are no longer optimal, the server managed to have the dessert chef make a modified version. We are from Toronto, and it will be trek to dine here. But we will definitely be returning!
For the quality they deliver, they should be charging more.
Wow! My first time going to a Michelin-star restaurant! I am glad this was my first choice. I went for my anniversary, and we both got the tasting menu. Everything was super good. I will be coming back again! Also, the staff was incredible. They all know how to interact perfectly with customers! 10/10 team.
Amazing food!
Dietary restrictions: Available on request Parking: Underground paid parking Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible. Best to inform in advance so necessary arrangements can be made.
Mi wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hexagon, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. We opted for the Tasting Menu, and each course was a perfect blend of French finesse and bold Mexican flavors. The creativity and attention to detail were evident in every dish, making it a culinary journey worth savoring. The atmosphere and service were equally impeccable, with knowledgeable staff that explained each dish with passion and care, making the dining experience even more immersive. I definitely recommend.
Absolutely superb. Food, service, atmosphere. 100% worthe the Michelin star. Highly recommended and worth the cost. Special thank you to Sheryl and Braedon for the professional yet familiar and warm service.
We visited Hexagon for my wifes birthday and had a wonderful time. We had the seven course tasting menu with wine pairings. The tasting menu is expensive but we felt like we got good value for our money as the food was amazing and the wine pairings were on point. The sommelier came by before each course to pour the wine and tell us a bit about it. There were lots of really unique and interesting wines that you might not be able to try anywhere else. When each course was served, one of the chefs came by the table to explain the ingredients and methods used to make it, pour the sauces, etc. We particularly enjoyed the Agnolotti and the Wagyu beef. White glove service but friendly, not stiff. It was an amazing evening and well definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: We let the restaurant know about a banana allergy in advance and they were easily able to accommodate.
Absolutely unreal!! Hurry and book your spot reservations are gonna be VERY difficult Parking: Download honk! Makes it much easier!
Theyre famous for the food, but they have really nice cocktails as well. Great spot for an anniversary or celebration.
Nice place for a date night, however our experience was very odd. At the last course prior to dessert, a chef and a waitress clanged hands together as they were serving our final course. This resulted in butter and the sauce for our steak flying everywhere. It got on the table and floor mostly. However, the sauce got all over my pants and butter was literally flung into my boyfriend s eyelashes. I understand that mistakes happen but the situation was dealt with very weirdly. They apologized and cleaned the table and floor then didn t address it further. The chef then came and explained the course and said they grated extra truffle on our dishes as a sorry . I don t even like truffle all that much, and seeing as it wasn t supposed to come on the dish originally I would have preferred the dish as typically served. The presentation of the food was great for the first and final courses, but was ordinary for all others. We found the dishes overall to be tasty, but alot of the flavour profiles clashed with one another. Our cocktails were okay, nothing special. However, the featured martini we ordered was not what we expected. The manager did take that item off our bill. Overall, the experience would have been a 4/5 had the whole butter-au jus escapade been approached differently by the staff. The staff were very polite and attentive, but I feel like something more could have been done to address the pair of pants I have to replace.
Darren our server was top notch. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Proud of this restaurant to be in my hometown of OAKVILLE. . See you again soon ~ JAY T - @JayTSandals on INSTAGRAM
* for some reason this review has been hidden since 2018, I just noticed it and had it reposted. February 27,2018 What a great new restaurant discovered in Oakville. Beautiful design, amazing and knowledgeable staff, and everyone is well-educated about every dish served in the restaurant. Douglas and his team executed a beautiful experience. One of the chefs Sean McDonald was very helpful in answering all my culinary questions. My favourite dish was lamb dish and dessert. The tasting experience was exciting and worth it. Since February 2018 I have dined here multiplied times and I always had a great experience, even tho over the years staff changed the food and experience were always great for me.
A one star Michelin restaurant located in Oakville. A very pretty town. We came here to celebrate my husbands birthday. $175 per person for the tasting menu. $180 for a bottle of white wine. It was one of the sommeliers favorite, and we could see why. Fragrant smell, a hint of sweetness, and it went down nicely. Not dry at all. The tasting menu was amazing. The chef was kind and humerous. He came to our table a few times to explain, in detail, on how the dishes were made. There are street parking and a paid underground parking next to the restaurant. For 3 hours, it was only $6, for a weekend. The tasting menu: 1. Bunuelo (Qc Crab and Chintextle) 2. Takoyaki (Nova Scotia Lobster, Dill and Cavier) - This was one of my favourites. 3. Tartar (Smoked Jalapeno, Tonnato, Radish) - Not spicy at all, very light. 4. Hokkaido Scallop (Aguachile, Melon, Crema) - The scallops were so soft, and the melons stood out the most for me. Refreshing and sweet. 5. PEI Blue Fin Otoro (Pistachio, Poblano, Tarragon) - The combination was really good. 6. Striped Bass (Mushroom Consomme, Guajillo Chile, Yolk). The yolk was amazing. Fish was soft, and the skin was crispy. 7. Agnolotti (Koginut Squash, Delice de Bourgogne, Minus 8) - Favourite! 8. Aged Duck (Habanada, Nixtamalized Honeynut, Anise) - It was such a familiar smell before it came to our table. Once the chef mentioned Star Anise, we were all like Ohhhh! No wonder! lol The duck was so tender. The highlight of the tasting menu. 9. Entrecote (Seaweed Jam, Salsa Verde, Matsutake) - It was very salty. This is coming from 4 other people, including myself. 10. Pain au Lait (Agave St. Brigids Butter) - Really good! Although the thyme was a bitter for me, but everyone else liked it! lol 11. Apple and Lemon Verbena (cleansing palette) - Very refreshing! 12. Basque Cheesecake (Pear and Almond) - Good! Highly recommend! Would definitely return to try their brunch, and other dishes.
The atmosphere was extremely loud. We went for a birthday dinner and were seated on the second floor, near the stairs and right next to the washroom. I highly suggest the restaurant reposition that table you wouldn t want to sit there. They did manage to switch us to another table, but the overall noise in the room was disturbingly loud. The washroom was clean, but the floor was very dirty. As for the food, it was okay not impressive. The raw scallops are best when stored and consumed in cold temperatures, but the warm foam did nothing to elevate their quality. Raw scallops are best enjoyed at a temperature between 32°F and 39°F (0°C to 4°C). This keeps them fresh and maintains their texture and natural sweetness. However, the foie gras was a pleasant surprise very tasty. I also recommend trying the halibut, which was interestingly structured, though the texture risotto underneath was disappointing; it was too soft for me. The restaurant s selections of red wines by the glass were joke by Michelin standard, be ready to pay much more for a bottle if you wish to enjoy your wine.
We had an incredible evening at Hexagon last night. Not only was the food fantastic but the service was also some of the best we have ever experienced. Despite not booking the tasting menu in advance, the kitchen worked hard to squeeze us in. The attention to detail was spectacular in all areas: the food, the presentation, the service, and most especially the descriptions of the wine pairings by one of the most knowledgeable, engaging sommeliers we have ever met. It took a team to create the type of experience we had and we so appreciate the efforts of each member (especially our head server Sasha and sommelier).
Dined here for my birthday on a Saturday evening, and unfortunately, it was our first and likely last visit. Despite my husband noting the special occasion when making the reservation, there was no acknowledgement of the celebration, which was disappointing. In fine dining, these small touches can make all the difference in the patrons experience, but it seems like this wasnt a priority for the restaurant. The service, while not terrible, felt disjointed. After finishing our appetizer, and before receiving our mains, a waiter who wasnt ours came over to ask if we wanted to see the dessert menu something that added to the overall clumsiness of the experience. For a restaurant that positions itself as fine dining, the service just didn t match the expectations or the price point. Though the portions are small, the food was fine, but given the price and the lack of attention to detail, there are certainly better options for special occasions elsewhere.
We celebrated an anniversary lunch here. The food and service were superb! Ingredients tasted fresh and well presented. Good sized portions. The beef tartare and scallops are definitely worth a try!
Hexagon deserves its place amongst the best dining experiences our country has to offer. Expert food, expert service, expert execution from start to finish. Some bites, like the mackerel escabeche, the Hokkaido scallop, and the pain au lait, will stay with me for life. Yes its expensive, yes its worth it. At least thrice.
Hexagon is truly a remarkable dining experience. We celebrated an intimate wedding dinner at the restaurant and our experience was above and beyond. The hospitality, service and food were exceptional. Every dish is made with such incredible attention to detail and flavour to match! Martin and the entire crew were incredibly kind, knowledgable and attentive. They made our evening so special and we are forever thankful for such a memorable experience. Thank you Hexagon team!
Congratulations to the team at Hexagon!
Wow! Service, Ambiance, Tastes, Textures, Flavours... Seriously, Bocuse is dead but he lives on at Hexahon in Oakville. Best Birthday Dinner in a long while! THANKS and Well Done! January 2018 Eric And now they have a Michelin Star to boot!!! August 2024 Congrats
This was a wonderful dining experience. A phenomenal meal with exceptional service from Ernesto, he made our anniversary celebration even more special and a few generous surprises. We absolutely will be coming back!
Congratulations to Chef Rafael Covarrubias and all of his staff for receiving your Michelin star ...This is a hidden gem and we are very fortunate to have Hexagon in Oakville. See you soon ... Food
It was an amazing experience at Hexagon, would say one of the best experiences at a restaurant in Canada, The food , the drinks , the presentation of the dishes and the taste was marvellous, Highly recommend this place and big salute to Johnny , he went above and beyond to make our experience even better, We liked the idea of explaining every dish and where does it come from, Will definitely have more visits to this place
Hexagon Restaurant is an absolute gem in Oakville. From the moment you step inside, you re greeted with elegance and warmth, the ambiance is simply inviting. It s a must-visit for food enthusiasts, date nights, or Sunday brunch.
My partner had a fantastic time celebrating his birthday here. Our server, John, was so nice and provided outstanding service. We were seated next to the window/sliding door, which allowed us to enjoy some sunshine. We opted for the tasting menu, and each dish was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Our favourites included the duck, hokkaido scallops, and agnolotti. The unique flavors in each dish complemented one another perfectly. This restaurant certainly deserves its spot among the top 100 in Canada!
Great fusion French food..refreshing to not have the same boring menu as other French restaurants..great service great ambience 5 stars all the way !!
Three of us had the tasting menu with matching wines. It was, as usual, very good. There was a lot of seafood. Fine by us, but not to everyones taste for sure. The sommelier certainly knows his stuff, and if he detects that you actually know something, the experience gets even better. The matching wines were excellent, although not always what one might have expected. Another great evening at Hexagon.
Had an incredible experience at Hexagon! From the delicious flavours and ingredient combinations to impeccable service! Special shout out to Johnny for ensuring we had an incredible time!
Great Sunday brunch!
Imaginative, beautiful, innovative and ingenious ingredients and just delicious. Michelin star worthy. Service impeccable too. We had the tasting menu.
It was okay. We did the tasting menu. The price was too pricey for what we actually got. The service was a bit slow too and the servers didn t seem as experienced compared to other restaurants with tasting menus we tried in the past. Maybe the night we went was an off day, but just reviewing what we experienced.
My family and I had the most phenomenal dining experience at Hexagon! The food was fantastic and the service really went above and beyond - all the staff were an absolute pleasure to interact with. Our server John was especially kind and attentive, and went out of his way to assist us with all our needs - even some tricky dietary restrictions. We all agree that John made our evening the most enjoyable outing that we have had at a restaurant in a very long time! We will definitely be back and recommending to our friends and family :)
I do enjoy the street corn ravioli
Not great experience for a party of six. A number of dishes were nothing special, including the tuna carpaccio with accompaniments that simply don t go, lamb with a strange flavoured sauce , and for some reason a Mexican/ Italian zucchini flower stuffed with Barbacoa lamb? It did not compliment the dish in any way. The service was average, took several minutes to satisfactorily resolve the low sun glaring in the eyes of 3 of our party. All thus despite the fact that they have curtains built into the windows for this very purpose. It was a birthday celebration and though we didn t expect it a small cake came out with a candle. If you re going to do that you really should serve a cake that isn t pretty awful, or don t do it at all. We got down to leave the parking and our validated ticket wasn t validated. Overall hugely disappointing.
Been here twice. First time food was great, second time for the Father s Day brunch and food was nothing special, service was terribly slow. Not worth the wait. If you don t have capacity for special occasion brunches then don t have one, waiting over an hour and a half for a main course is insane and disrespectful to guests.
Had the tasting menu and it was completely delicious and well executed. Cocktails were also fantastic and service was impeccable. The mix of flavors were great and very satisfying. We went to a Michelin 1* (and #2 of Canada top 50!) a couple of weeks ago and it was a complete letdown, this menu was much better! Couple of small criticisms. There were menu changes not on the printed version, in particular we were supposed to get caviar and did not. There was also a typo - stripped instead of striped bass. On the drinks menu, we were interested in a wine but it was misspelt - piaut-simone when it should be piaut-simon.
Thank you for an unbeleivebal experience! Management-excellent, customer focused, very professional. Made my family experince fantastic. Food-outstanding, nothing to add. Waiter-Amanda. Will not find a better waiter in town. Totally knowledgable about each dish, respects ALL people, very sensitive to specific customer situations, caring and very friendly. Very highly recommend!
Surprised this place doesn t have a Michelin star yet! At hexagon, you can experience culinary art at its finest combined with impeccable service. Creative dishes that are prepared skillfully with impressive presentation showcase the talent of the chef. You can feel the passion and pride of the management and all the servers in what they do. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and recommend this place without any hesitation to all who enjoy fine dining.
Amazing service and fantastic food. The halibut was absolutely superb! The asparagus wasn t necessarily my favourite but the hokkaido scallops and foie gras was excellent. Just wish they gave a little more brioche for the foie gras.
Everything about Hexagon is number 1
It was my daughters birthday. My poor child got there hungry, left there hungry. The prices are ridiculous for those tiny portions. The cocktails were so expensive, you basically paid for a huge block of ice. My bill was 428.00. That was the first and last time, I support that restaurant. Let me end on a good note. The food tasted good and looked good.
Absolutely fantastic evening for my wifes birthday. Food, service was first class. Our server John was wonderful. Sommelier was excellent. Outstanding service all around.
Hexagon is a fantastic restaurant for food, service, and atmosphere! What stood out though was their General Manager/ Sommelier - Martin Watson - whose food and beverage knowledge is truly outstanding!!! My husband and I have enjoyed Martins recommendations for years beginning at Pearl Morissette and now at Hexagon. One of the many things that make Martin so special is that he is able to curate fine wines, aperitifs, digestifs, etc. that are exceptional in taste and hard to find, thus making the dinning experience outstanding and fun. Martin is a master at his craft and the king of hospitality, and as such we will definitely be making recurring trips to Hexagon!
Pretty good place for celebration
I took my family here for dinner. We waited 45 minuets for our mains. I ordered the lamb. The flavour was there , but the portion was ridiculously small. Bone aside ,there was literally 2 small bites and it was done. The dish cost $54.00, which means each small bite costs $27.00. I confronted our waitress and she assured me that there was 8oz s of meat. I would bet my house on the fact that there was no more than 4oz , bone in. I love lamb and often order it at fine restaurants, I know what a serving should look like. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Foods taste wonderful. However, had very bad experience with dirty plates. Love their salsa music in the background. Second visit: 1. PEI oyster: wish the sauce is on the side. I personally like the oyster taste itself. The sauce is very strong and cover the taste of oyster. 2. Scollop: same as oyster, the sauce is good, but strong 3. Steak: not worthy the money for the cut. The meat is very chewy. The salad was amazing, very fresh
We came here for a birthday dinner. The service was impeccable, the staff remembered our names from the reservation. We had the tasting menu and everything was delicious. I enjoyed the showing of the chicken for one of the mains. The small appetizers at the beginning were very memorable.
Martin and his team provided outstanding service that created a restaurant experience unlike any other we ve had! Food, service and ambiance was exceptional!
I had dined few times at Hexagon and food and service were always excellent except for my last reservation. I had made a reservation for my wedding anniversary well in advance. It was canceled by a very unpleasant person who offered me to reschedule or cancel as the date i booked on the site they use for reservations was no longer available . In the end my reservation was canceled as I was not able to move my anniversary date
We had a wonderful experience with the Chef s Tasting Menu. I felt like I got to know Chef via the flavours I was tasting. Mexican, seafood and emphasis on local produce was clear. Mocktails, cocktails and wine pairing were great as well! The atmosphere is open and not stuffy at all. Shoutout to David and Johnny as our primary servers. I observed that all staff worked all positions and were knowledgeable about the food.
Went for a Father s Day brunch and the service was extremely slow and the food was average at best.
Visited Hexagon Friday night, June 14, to celebrate my birthday. My wife and I got the tasting menu, which consists of 7 courses plus a snack to start. Weve been to Hexagon several times over the years since they opened in 2017. This was first time visiting since ownership changed, and we hadnt had the tasting menu since before COVID. Paired a couple of wines with two of the courses, and got a bonus tasting of sake with the fish course. There is option of wine pairings with the tasting menu, which Ill definitely get next time since the GM/sommelier Martin is excellent, and it looks like a great value for $100. Martin provided a background and little story on each wine, and it really elevates the experience over a lot of fine dining restaurants Ive been to. Its also nice that sparkling water is unlimited for $7. Service and food were excellent as always. Our server Johnny was very familiar with the food and cocktails, so he could quickly answer any questions we had. Overall, the atmosphere is casual yet refined, fine dining without a lot of pretentiousness, and service is attentive as there is a lot of staff to take care of you. I started off with a cocktail called The Amalfi Amendment which was amazing and had an apertif in it that Id never heard of, Pineau de Charentes. This cocktail was created by former Hexagon bartender Jacob Martin, whos gone on to win Global Bartender of the Year, and now consults on the Hexagon cocktail menu. The tasting menu leans heavily towards fish & seafood with the one exception being the aged duck, a signature dish Chef Rafael Covarrubias has been developing throughout his career. Overall, everything was prepared and served meticulously and tasted fantastic. Chef Rafa was not in Friday night as he was home in Mexico for a week, but I saw no drop-off in quality or consistency. The Chef de Cuisine Jordan Wilkinson has been with Rafa since Hexagon opened, so you know the quality is going to be there every time. My only quibble is that it would be nice to have aged beef (perhaps a rib eye) on the menu for the price you are paying. Its nice to see Hexagon has moved up to #26 from #34 on Canadas 100 Best Restaurants list. I wouldnt be surprised if it keeps moving up the list. Alo and Pearl Morissette would appear to be the most comparable as far as tasting menus and fine dining, but Hexagon is as good, perhaps better, than both of them. *One minor error for a place that strives to perfection. The tasting menu had typo of Stripped Bass instead of Striped Bass for Chef Rafas amazing take on a fish taco. Parking: After 5pm, parking is free on the beautiful side streets of Oakville south of Lakeshore close to the lake. There is a parking garage attached to the restaurant but Im not sure if parking is validated by the restaurant. It should be covered, but its not 100% clear if they cover it so I parked on a side street.
Had a great visit for brunch. Loved the atmosphere, food, service .. everything! Have already recommended to friends and will be back.
Celebrated my 30th birthday there with my wife. Totally stellar service. The food was incredible. The chef was making his rounds for the tasting menus but mentioned happy birthday to me, then took the time to chat about the meal and the restaurant. I absolutely believe this restaurant will get a Michelin star. The experience is without a doubt comparable to the one & two star spots in Toronto. Would recommend. Bread is a must get. Butter lettuce salad was top tier. Tartare was very good. Waygu shortrib is very rich but delicious. Try to leave room for desert, specifically the Basque cheesecake.
Took my mom here for the Mothers Day brunch and it was amazing! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was unbelievable. This is easily one of the best restaurants in the Oakville/Burlington/Mississauga area. We will certainly go back again and again. Parking: There is a parking garage available with a cost.
Food, service, and atmosphere was excellent. A tad pricy.
The main course was served very slowly, and some dishes were changed to look ugly and unpalatable.
Sunday brunch, the environment is good, but the food itself is not cost-effective. I didnt eat anything that made me want to come back again. Sell meeting photos. Will try it for dinner next time.
I ve dined for dinner and more recently brunch and both experiences were incredible! You can really taste the high quality ingredients in all of the dishes; the food is innovative and superbly prepared. The chilaquiles on the brunch menu were super tasty, and the croissants are out of this world! Beautiful space complemented by outstanding service and plenty of amazing choices to select from. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants I ve been to! Can t wait to return one day for the tasting menu.
Definitely a high end restaurant. Staffs over there are very professional and detail. Our waiter are prudent but still friendly. Remember food ingredients that I requested to avoid due to my health needs. My wife and I are going for the tasting menu (9 courses). Servers will come to explain what ingredients and the way to cook each course. The chef will also come out to intro for their famous dish, which is the age duck and age waygu striploin. Each dish are complex with textures and taste but yet still very decorative, which you can tell the time and effort of prepare. Especially the age duck taste very steep favorite but yet the texture is still very tender. I dont want to explain too much because if it is Michelin recommended, therefore the quality and price is like you are going to a high-end fine dinning with an exceptional quality experience. Dietary restrictions: You can tell the server about this as I am avoiding milk product at that time.
Excellent food, good service. The waiter forgot to bring the wine with the steaks, but in the end, everything was fine. The atmosphere is not bad, but a bit noisy.
Our visit to Hexagon was nothing short of spectacular. This upscale restaurant combines chic ambiance, superb service, and culinary masterpieces, making every moment memorable. The staffs attentiveness and knowledge enhance the dining experience, ensuring every need is met with a smile. Their recommendations were spot on, reflecting a genuine passion for food and guest satisfaction. The food, however, is the true star at Hexagon. Each dish showcases the chefs incredible skill and creativity, with flavors and presentations that are both innovative and delightfully satisfying. Hexagon is not just a meal; its a culinary journey worth experiencing.
We did the blind tasting menu. Perfect experience and every dish was great. Service was incredible - would definitely return to try the a la carte menu.
Amazing Sunday brunch experience!
The absolute best dispensary they always have ways of making you happy with incentives and SUPER knowledgeable love em!!!
The atmosphere and vibe provided by the restaurant was fantastic. The server was very polite and attentive. The food was good but the portion sizes were on the smaller size for other restaurants of this caliber/price range. The cheesecake dessert topped with ice cream was immaculate and probably the highlight of my experience. We started with an appetizer, mid course, main course and then dessert. There was long wait times between each of the items. We ended up being there for about 2 and a half hours, and it was only my fiancé and myself. They definitely should cut down on the delay they put between items. All in all, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will be back myself soon. Vegetarian options: They offer Vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: They can cater to dietary restrictions. Removing pork from a menu item for example.
thanks for an excellent meal served by a great team. We had the family style shared plates, highly recommended!
Had an amazing anniversaire dinner. Food was amazing and outstanding service. Thank you for making our celebration night special
Very nice restaurant in the heart of Oakville. Went with friends and we each had an entree. All of us agreed that the food was very good. Service was great and the atmosphere is really nice. One note however: the fee of $20 per person for the reservation will be processed on your credit card as soon as you book thru a 3rd party called TOCK it does state that the reservation fee will be taken off the bill. The fee wasnt taken off the bill and we paid the bill as it was and I was told that the reso fee would be refunded to my credit card which I assumed immediately. Unfortunately, I had to call the restaurant 2 days later and ask to be refunded the reservation fee of $20 per person. She was able to do it immediately but I didnt like that I had to call in order to get the reso fee back.
We went out last night to celebrate an occasion, and the staff, kitchen and sommelier were all great. Minor difference in what I might expect from the Foie gras and Wagyu dishes. But where the experience really ran short was the single bathroom that looked like it was at a train station, after evening rush hour. Not at fine dining with a $$$ bill. It was quite the put off, and we will likely be a long time before circling back here again.
We arrived an hour early for our reservations and they accommodated us. We had a seat by the window and the kitchen and it was entertaining to see what was happening in the square and the kitchen. The food was a masterpiece. Each plate was a work of art and tasted divine. The service impeccable! Our sommelier knew what to ask and suggested a perfect bottle of wine. This is a little gem.
Great place , food was fantastic and the chef always there looking for you to get the experience of a 1st class restaurant. Bug shout out to Cheryl who was a great host. Food
Best restaurant experience of my life. Food. Staff and all around experience was incredible. I highly recommend.
OMG ! Excellence personified at every turn The food, the presentation, the explanation, the service ... cant wait to return. We joked at the table about going to a Leaf game and having dinner in the rink and the relative entertainment value versus Hexagon. Go to Hexagon and record the game , 100% guaranteed win versus the Leafs at 50% at best . Far better value at Hexagon!! Palate versus Puck!!! Ill take Palate 100% of the time . Even if you are not a hockey fan Hexagon wins every time.
Had high expectations which they met ! We went out for my father s birthday, the appetizers and secondi, read and sounded much more interesting than the mains. Were ordered many things off the first two levels of the menu and the duck special main. Everything we tried was a slam dunk. Their pain au lait bread is insanely good. The poached scallops were incredible and a bit of a different execution than you would normally see. Duck filled Cannelloni, roasted duck, charred salad, roasted beets, all great ! The service was very attentive and the atmosphere was lovely. I d definitely go back! Food 9.5/10 Service 9/10 Atmosphere 9/10 Value 8.5/10
Excellent bites! I love it!
This is my favourite restaurant in the entire world.
Dietary restrictions: They re very accommodating. Food
Loved the food & service . Everything was amazing! The pommes dauphine were my favorite. My only complaint is a small/limited menu.
Brilliant experience. We were a group of 4 trying the tasting menu. Each dish was meticulously crafted, presented, and served. Not one miss on taste or seasoning. Service was entirely on point. Worth travelling to experience this menu.
The fact that this restaurant exists in Oakville is amazing, who wants to drive to Toronto all the time? We had reservations with friends (just four of us total) Hexagon called me day of to let me know they moved us from upstairs to a private dining area. Which was a bonus for us; we were able to eat, drink and talk without feeling like we had to get out of there (we were there for almost 5 hours!). Service is amazing. Cheryl took very good care of us and all our pretentious foodie whims (girl even managed to get us a duck that is not on the menu!) We had a fantastic wine education with their sommelier Martin, who is very patient and knowledgeable. The food at Hexagon truly is top notch. This was our second time here and the menu didn t disappoint. Is the menu extensive? No, but you don t need a seven page menu when the handful of items they do offer have been so carefully curated. Everything has been orchestrated to delight your palate. Different textures, seasonings, proteins and presentation. I would say; you could pick your own options off the menu and not share, but the menu lends itself to sharing and enjoying with others at your table. We shared everything from scallops to the cheese at the end. Everything was devoured fully by all our party. Is the place a quiet intimate place? No. Does it sometime take time between courses? Yes. But really it s a place to have a nice drink, enjoy your food casually and savour the moment. Parking: Located in downtown Oakville, so there is parking. You just have to find it
The serving staff was very courteous and we enjoyed our dinner. Few things to note though: hardly any vegetarian options and no high chairs available (on purpose?) Desert (Chocolate Flan) was on the house and it was amazing ! Vegetarian options: Hardly any vegetarian options, but they were willing to skip meat from pasta dishes to make it vegetarian Dietary restrictions: No white meat options Kid-friendliness: Likely not, there were no high chairs available or kids menu
Excellent food and service
Tastes pretty good I had been thinking about checking in for a year, and finally found the time to come to Oakville. I originally ordered the tasting menu, but unfortunately I arrived late and missed it, so I ordered a la carte. But I still got some snacks, which were amazing. The overall taste of the dishes is great, and what impressed me most was the rib eye. The meat is soft and juicy, and its very refreshing to wrap it up with cabbage salad. Its a pity today, I will try the tasting menu next time. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Will ask about dietary restrictions Parking: Next to it is the underground parking lot
Honestly I would give this place a 5 but the only thing that put me off was that I noticed our mimosas only had the orange skin on the rim of the cup while they started serving others their mimosas with a full slice of orange on it. I mean it s aesthetically pleasing but not too nice when a customer notices the difference other than that the food was great, and the service was good as well
Got spoiled with the tasting menu and wine pairing. True fine dining that easily competes/exceeds Toronto restaurant scene. Spectacular from the first person who says hello and takes your coat to the sommelier shaking your hand on the way out.
Incredible food and drink! Everything tasted amazing especially the Waygu which was the best thing ordered. The staff were extremely professional, attentive, and detail oriented. The cocktails were tasty and refreshing as well. The atmosphere and ambiance was sophisticated and intimate. The chef comes out to explain the dishes. Great place to go if you want to celebrate something special. For the price, the meal and service met the expectations. We plan on going back soon. We did a walk-in which was risky. We were able to get a spot at the bar. Highly recommend booking reservations in advance. This place requires street parking.
Brilliant food. Creative but tasty. Very good service. One of the best restaurants I have been to in Canada.
We enjoyed our experience here it was by far the greatest. Excellent service and presentation, upscale and tasteful. The service was impeccable, yet friendly. The food was superb. And the wine list had some great choices. A wonderful evening Definitely worthwhile, and a great experience.
Our third time here and it has yet to disappoint. Started with a flake ceviche to share and some delicious mouth watering cocktails. Service was friendly and very professional. From the welcome to dining, to leaving the restaurant, there is no place that comes close to Hexagon in Oakville. Michelin star is coming if they tighten up a few things in the transition from front to back of house.
Best dinner I had in a long time! Showed up on a Friday night with no reservation and the staff managed to find us a table for two. Everything we ate was fantastic, so tasteful and delicate. I am still dreaming about the ceviche and the scallops! Also, great selection of French wines. Given the quality of the food and service, I found the prices still reasonable but definitely in the higher range.
Excellent restaurant with an incredible team executing Chef Rafael Covarrubias vision. Would 10/10 recommend.
Phenomenal restaurant. They have been selected in the top half of Canada s top 100 restaurants and should have ranked even higher than they did. We ve eaten here several times but have always opted for the tasting menu (which is always an amazing experience). Last night we ate à la carte, just to see what the regular menu offered. My compliments to the chef and the team, because it was similarly fantastic. It s a small menu, as is often the case with restaurants of this calibre, but everything we tried from it was perfection. We started with the beef tartar and the scallop. The presentation is always very nice, but with the scallop they outdid themselves. It was thinly sliced and wrapped into itself to look like a flower in a glistening sauce with tiny cubes of (I think) rhubarb. Really beautiful. Both were excellent. Our mains were the short rib and the crab gnocchi. Wow. Two of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. The short rib was just fantastic generous, tender and flavourful. The sides complimented perfectly (another very flavourful onion and a nice little surprise with some shredded beef wrapped in a leaf). Gnocchi is a food that so many restaurants do poorly but unsurprisingly this was perfect. I should take a second to mention the drinks. I had the Gibson martini which was very good elevated by a fabulously flavourful pickled onion. I then asked the sommelier to suggest something to go with the Short Rib, and was treated to a very nice Sazerack which was went perfectly. Thanks again! Unusually for us, we decided to have dessert (we usually skip it when ordering off the menu). We were both very glad we didn t. Although we should have guessed this, neither was anything that played it safe with their namesakes and both were excellent. The basque cheesecake was the highlight for me, but we loved both. Lastly, I wanted to mention the exceptional service. Several people were working together to make sure our table was always spotless, our water was filled, and made sure there was nothing else that was needed. Very friendly but also courteous and professional. Couldn t ask for better. Highly, highly recommended.
I should preface this by acknowledging that the service was friendly and the outdoor seating was pleasant. But if you actually want to eat, go elsewhere. Everything is so overpriced. The problem is the fine dining prices do not match the experience. From the clearly old and scratched up plastic plates, to the outdated wooden handle cutlery (placed directly on the outdoor table) to the very poor food presentation. No part of the experience warranted the pricing. We decided to start with appetizers to get a feel of the quality of food we can expect. We got the burrata which is an Italian cheese for those who dont know, it was served with salsa Verde and tortilla bread? Very bad combination. We also got the New Zealand fish cured in house. The presentation was so bad and it just had some like crispy onions or garlic on top. We buy them from the store for like 3 bucks. Needless to say we decided not to order any actual dishes. Obviously the type of food was not for us. When I go somehwere that is this expensive, I have a much higher expectation of what I get, and this is not it at all. I feel like I should reiterate the staff were all really nice.
Went here for brunch. Service was a bit slow (more than 2 hrs for party of 4) but everything else was excellent
Doesn t get Ny better!
100% the best place for dinner or brunch. Absolutely perfect every time we go. Chef Rafael is a master in the kitchen. The food and service is Michelin Star worthy. Food : 5/5 |
The food is absolutely delicious!!
This has been a wonderful experience. We had the tasting menu that had a variety of dishes, fresh ingredients. We added a wine pairing for each dish. For our kid, they were able include a non- alcoholic drink pairing too. The chef personally presented the dish, adding a personal touch. I love this restaurant.
Nice place and nice staff
The Tasting Menu was one of the best dining experiences Ive had! The food was superb and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. I would definitely recommend this place if youre looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion. Come hungry if you plan on getting the Sunday Brunch Prix Fixe menu. An upscale fine-dining experience without the pretentiousness of other places. It is definitely worth the price! Parking: Street parking available. Free after 6:00pm and on Sundays
The experience and service was outstanding. We made a last minute reservation, and on the spot asked if we could do their tasting menu and they accommodated our request, which we really appreciated. The food was amazing, some of the best bites Ive ever had. Thank you for a great evening Hexagon staff!
Food was delicious but restaurant was so hot! We dined indoors but the glass wall was open to the outdoors. The heat poured in. And so did the flies...they were all over us and both these issues really degraded the fine dining experience.
Definitely a nice spot to celebrate at and go to for a local night in Oakville - food was good but the service was spectacular. We ordered a few things a la carte but I heard from others that they also do a sharing/tasting menu which I would ve much rather preferred to do, but it wasn t an option offered to us or maybe not available that evening The steak is definitely not to be missed though - that was lovely.
My first time visiting Hexagon and I was recommended to try out this place! The interior is beautiful and modern with a very nice outdoor patio area view. Our server was so friendly, professional and came to our table at the right timing and pace. We made a reservation for the Sunday Brunch and they had a first and second course. You get to choose one from each! If you re a coffee lover, you re going to love their cappuccino. It s so smooth and delicious that I had to try out their other options as well. I most definitely would love to come again! Parking: We parked at a paid parking lot between the streets of Dunn St & Robinson St.
Wonderful experience with the tasting menu and wine pairing. Executive Chef Raf and General Manager Martin, were so good at explaining the food and wine. No wonder they are rated as one of the best in Canada. We will be back!
First of all, the food is really good. But this time we dont feel fairly served. After entering the door and sitting down, within a minute, the waiter told me and my friend that our table had been reserved, but my friend and I had also reserved our table. After communication, the waiter told us that the original seats were reserved for large groups, but this mistake should not be borne by us, and then we finished eating and were about to leave when no one came to our original seats. I didnt understand, but I left an 18% tip anyway, for the environment. Very disappointed this time.
Best brunch I ve ever had. Service was impeccable. Food presentation was phenomenal. Our server John made this experience unlike any other. I ordered a cappuccino, truly the best one I ve ever had. Paired with the pain perdu as well as the chicken and waffles, which was unreal. A must have experience.
Experience was superb, and the food quality is top notch! We went for the Sunday brunch and the menu had a decent selection (though they now only do fixed menu for brunch and its a bit on the expensive side, but totally worth it!) The appetizers we had, beef tartare and shrimp cocktail were both seasoned perfectly and portion size is good. And then for the main course, my steak and egg was amazing! The hash is THE BEST Ive ever had in brunch experience. I rarely finish potatoes in my brunch because they are usually tasteless, and you need ketchup to spice it up. But the hash in my dish had gorgeous seasoning, a bit sweetness in the spice which I love! Definitely recommend this place if you are paying a visit to Oakville!
This is an amazing restaurant, service was on point, large glass doors open to outdoors with nice view of courtyard, open kitchen, and of course, great tasting food with beautiful presentation. Great job!
Love this place. So much talent in the kitchen and the staff are wonderful. Best tasting menu I have ever had and the wine pairing was perfect.
We came here for their tasting menu. It was exceptional!
We went here for a Sunday brunch. The setting is perfect in downtown Oakville. There s ample seating inside and nice outdoor spots. The staff is very friendly and the food was delicious. They re also accommodating of dietary restrictions when booking your reservation. I enjoyed the open kitchen, atmosphere, and would recommend this restaurant to others. Dietary restrictions: Very good at accommodating dietary restrictions if requested ahead of time Parking: Downtown underground parkade Kid-friendliness: Don t have changing tables in the bathrooms
Expensive, ONE kind of beer...lousy Peroni from a 330ml bottle, no draft beers. $140 ribeye? Had beef tartar... nothing remarkable by any stretch. Exploiting the location. A family sat next to us, right after the water they left after looking at the menu. Shame on Trudeau and corrupt policies. $20+ cocktail
We had a fantastic time! Amazing service, beautiful ambience and the food was out of this world. Will definitely be back again! Thanks for a great evening!
It was our first time in Hexagon Resturant for brunch, the food was ranging ok to good but nothing out of the ordinary. The restaurant offer a two course brunch menu. The items lack creativity and uniqueness. There is no value for money, even if the food is ok to good, it does not deserve this price tag. The restaurant charges for plain water 15$ is again excessive. The drinks are overpriced for the taste. I give it a 4 however it needs to improve either on the prices or create dishes and drinks that correspond to the price. Having tried the shrimp cocktail, beef tartar and the burger, the beef tartar was the only good dish the rest was ok.
Beautiful restaurant. We went for lunch with the family. Food was very tasty. Service was great.
Tried out their tasting menu for August, I really want to give 5 stars to this place, everything is mostly perfect for me. But there are just some problems that I can not ignore, even with their stunning food. Since there is not a lot to say about the cons, I will start with them first: 1. They really didnt make a good decision to open all the big windows for the dining room. A lot of bees & bugs were flying around us and in the kitchen the whole time, which can be a deal breaker for such an upscale restaurant. One of the bugs actually went onto my plate for the roasted aged duck dish. 2. I dont really like the texture of the dish Nixtamal (Pipian Verde, Crab, and Crema). Its falvourful but too mushy, missing any kind of substantial texture. 3. I personally dont really like the selection of their desserts for tasting menu. Its not as good as the chocolate cake that I had from their regular dinner menu last year. This is a subjective thing though. Other from these 3 points, I fully love this restaurant with their food, ambiance, and staff. The tasting menu is definitely an eye-opening experience well worth it. The amuse bouche was a fantastic start and every dish just came better and better. Love their way of plating, exquisite, refined, and a splash of fun touch sometimes. Service is also unarguably good during the whole 2.5 hr of dining time. It was very nice of them to offer us some complimentary champagne for our celebration before the tasting menu started. The server or chef came and explained every dish they were serving to us, and the servers came to replace the knife and fork inbetween every course and wiped the table for us every time. I will come back for their tasting menu some other time for sure.
I m torn with this restaurant, is it over rated for the price point? Located in Downtown Oakville in the village square, with a patio and large opening doors to make you feel part of the centre, which always seems to be bustling. We had dinner indoors though, close to the modern fireplace and open kitchen, which was nice to see. Had the chefs 7 course tasting menu for $165 P.P. So I had high hopes for some great food as reviewed by others making it worth it! Staff are great, everyone was friendly and accommodating, each dish had a chef or server explain what it was, although it was tough to hear them with the noise level at times. I would sum up the food as a hit with a few misses, can t say I was impressed with EVERYTHING, the plating of the food was beautiful, but their choice of bowls for some dishes questionable and somewhat awkward to eat from. Portion sizes were good, and we left pleasantly full not over stuffed, dress code is whatever mix of men in shorts with golf shirt and men wearing sport jackets and slacks, so don t feel stressed about attire. I don t drink alcohol, and to keep my palate clean I just drink plain still water ( they charge $7?)found that a bit penny pinching after a $400 bill for 2 Overall, can t say I would do the chef s tasting menu again, I was debating giving Hexagon 4 stars but will come back for dinner off the a la cart menu that might suit my tastes better, so i went 5
Great open kitchen. Lots of different servers. Had the special which was a bluefin tuna with a delicious bernaise sauce. More veg would have been nice. $20 Cocktail just ok. Dessert nice
Just had dinner there, food is okay, but I am sitting on the toilet mid of night, having diarrhea.
Wonderful service and tasting menu. Highlights of the tasting menu for me were the Madai (the fish on top of corn and mole topped with caviar) and the truffle agnolotti. The scallops that were part of the amuse bouche was a close 3rd. But really everything was good. The restaurant is fairly small and I liked that. The vibe is very good for meeting up with friends as many large groups seemed to be just that. The restaurant itself is lively rather than a quiet setting. And I think it fits with the ambiance.
I made a reservation for four. We chose the tasting menu option without the wine. I had to put in a $80 deposit online which was automatically refunded after the dinner. We arrived at 8pm and the place was crowded. The food was amazing and each dish was introduced formally by the chef and/or the waiters. Some of the dishes had some Mexican and Chinese influence so that was super interesting. The portion size was good, we didn t go home hungry. But that could also be because there were long waits between meals - the whole dinner took 3 hours . The location was loud so it was not easy to pass the time either! But I am still giving Hexagon 4 stars because the food was delicious! $1000 for 4 people though so I won t be doing the tasting menu again this year .
The Wagyu short rib is incredible!
Had brunch today. 55 $ pp and good selection of starter and main. Nice location annd attentive staff. Food well made and nicely presented. Only overcharge was 14$ to for Oakville tap water. Food
Drinks were great, atmosphere is nice. Food is okay but every dish was lacking that little extra touch. Maybe some fresh basil, or one more turn of black pepper...
I am not sure how Hexagon eluded us for all this time, and we just found this restaurant. We went for my Husbands birthday celebration and chose the tasting menu with wine pairing. What an incredible experience this was. The range of courses and the subtle flavours that were presented to us were unique and quite exceptional. From entering the restaurant where the reception was friendly and welcoming to being seated and approached by our Server, the beginning of this experience set the stage for what was to come. Our server (main server) John was friendly and attentive and knew just when to approach us, and we had some very welcome short chats with John. John is excellent at his job! John however was not our only Server, as everyone works in concert with all the guests and they seem to approach the table just when you need them. For the tasting menu and wine pairing, we found the experience to be excellent. We love NOT knowing what is coming next and we were never disappointed. We also love that for almost every course, one of the Chefs came to the table to describe the dish and the full ingredients. Additionally, the Sommelier arrived in advance of each dish with a wine to pair, and would tell us the story of the wine and why it was chosen. Overall, the entire experience was amazing and we would recommend this experience. We are excited to return and try the main menu of the restaurant. Oh, and as a final note, although Hexagon does not have a Chefs Table where you are in the kitchen, the open kitchen design lets you view the incredible team effort that is going on in the kitchen when preparing a dish to be presented to a guest. I think we counted 11+ in the kitchen and once the restaurant was filling up, this team was rocking it!
Best place to enjoy brunch with your friends and family. The service is the best in North America, not only in Canada
Favorite restaurant in Oakville. Food are amazing. Modern interior with spacious outdoor seating area. Great place for gathering and special events. Dishes are beautifully plated and delicious. Pasta is a must try.
Loved my first experience at Hexagon Restaurant, the service from the staff was absolutely attentive and friendly. The atmosphere itself was intimate and cozy, with a buzz in the air. The food was a sensory experience: the scallops were melt in your mouth, lamb was tender and homely, but the dessert certainly topped off my night.
One of best course meals, need to come back to try the lunch menu !
Great cozy place. Service and food was great.
This restaurant is the best chef restaurant i tried. I found that usually there is a certain attitude with the chef restaurants but this one has such comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with super friendly servers and lots of informations and details provided for each food. We tried the tasting menu which i highly recommend. The chef stopped by and we chatted and the overall experience was absolute top notch!
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Hexagon Restaurant in Oakville. It was our first time dining at this restaurant. We chose the tasting menu along with the wine pairing for each course. The duration of our dining experience was between 2.5-3 hours. We were very impressed with the exceptional service from start to finish. We were seated right in front of the fireplace adjacent the open view kitchen. In my opinion, it was the best seat in the restaurant. The staff acknowledged our anniversary by offering us well wishes, and complimentary champagne in honour of our special day, which was very thoughtful and generous. Each course and wine pairing was introduced in detail before serving. We loved learning about the preparation and cooking process of each dish. The sommelier was very informative and knowledgeable. And we loved that the chef personally came out to present most of the dishes. Each course was prepared, cooked and presented perfectly, and it was mouth watering delicious. Our favourites were the wagyu beef, duck and fish. The various wines complimented well with each course too. We received a fresh wine glass with each wine tasting, cutlery was replaced after each course and our table was wiped down often, even when it was not dirty, which really impressed us. Small details like these make Hexagon stand out from all other restaurants. I am not surprised they rank #34 in Canada s 100 Best. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. We had a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. The chefs, servers and staff were very friendly, professional, respectful, and hospitable. Food was outstanding. The atmosphere was very warm, inviting and romantic. Hexagon made our anniversary celebration very special and a night to remember. We will definitely be back again to try the A La Carte menu.
Disappointed. Steak too dry, seems to come from the oven. Fois gras, with French toast not with crepe , is very salty. Pork is average. Not worth the money spent.
The ambiance was inviting, service impeccable, and the dishes were a delightful mix of flavors. A great culinary experience!
Absolutely one of the best in class experience!
Tuna tatare and wagyu beef were both outstanding.
Great vibe. However, almost every time we ve come here for brunch they ve messed up our order. Servers are not attentive to allergies or simple food requests (eg. how the eggs are cooked). The times we ve come for Dinner it has been enjoyable. The restaurant is family friendly but they do not have high chairs.
This is a pretty fancy French restaurant with small portions. I would go with a tasting menu and try out the very well-made dishes, but while the food was good, it is too pricy for whats on offer.
I was really excited to try out this restaurant as I ve heard great things about it (and we didn t have to drive downtown). We came here for an anniversary dinner and overall it was okay. The atmosphere was lovely with a modern space. We were greeted with some non-alcoholic champagne (I don t drink) for the occasion which was nice. The menu was a little on the light side in terms of options. Since I have dietary restrictions, I went for the oysters and the halibut dish while my husband ordered the tartare and steak. The halibut was really lacklustre and small compared to other equitable restaurants I ve been to. It was a bit overcooked (my husband tried and he even said it was on the dry side and he s not really all that into food). It also didn t have the depth of flavour that I was expecting. The service was great to begin with but got slow once it was busy. There were also no gluten and/or dairy free desserts, which was really disappointing (since they emailed to ask if I had any). The steak, according to my husband, was good but I can t speak to it. He enjoyed it though but was still a bit hungry after dinner. All in all, it was good night out but I m not sure if we will visit again, especially for the price point.
Good service and atmosphere. Food can be hit and miss. Starters and fish dishes (oysters, halibut, scallops) are excellent. Meat dishes fairly average.
I feel a need to write a review because I want to cherish this experience forever, and I m honestly scared I forget how good this place was. This is by far the best meal I have had in my entire life. Culinary mastery is the only way I can put it, with flavours and techniques both deep and broad across different courses, types of dishes, and cuisines. Whoever designed this menu is a creative genius, and whoever executed it is a master. And then the dessert was honestly shocking. The best cake I ve ever had, and it s crazy to think that was a bonus birthday cake. The petit fours were also unbelievably delicious. And the services was honestly flattering to say the least, felt like they were paying us to be there.
I ve eaten here at least 5 times and some how the tasting menu is better each time. A real treat every time. Highly recommend- I love this place!
A must dine!
5* dinner tasting menu, but 2.5* brunch. I have been twice for the dinner tasting menu as a party of 2 and a party of 5; both times food, service and everything in between was exceptional. The iberico pork is amazing; please never remove it from your menu. Went back for brunch and was honestly disappointed in the offerings. For starters we booked for the 11am seating (they open at 11) and arrived at around 10:50. They did not seat us until 11am despite other tables already occupied. We just stood around staring at the wait staff and the wait staff staring at us for the next ten mins. The food was also mediocre at best? Nothing extraordinary compared to dinner. A few slices of potatoes plus two eggs, and dollop of a side salad essentially came with all mains. They charge for water, which is odd but we knew that in advance. For $55/person (58.50 including water) it just wasn t what we expected. Despite all else, this restaurant sources very high quality ingredients. Whether it s beef, pork or seafood everything is always extremely fresh.
My husband and I had dinner here last Thursday. Delicious food and excellent service!
