I had the avocado toast. The toast was so soggy it was mush and fell apart. I couldnt eat it. They need to put a piece of lettuce below (or something )the avocado to stop this from happening.

Spent a lovely late afternoon and got the best service from a very attentive server Eric. We made so many minor adjustments to our order, but Eric made sure our meals were perfect. Symposium burger was over seasoned, skip that dish. Id rather go to Harveys. Hopefully visit two wont be as disappointing if I ever end up back here.

We were a choir party of 25 arriving after 12 and needing to leave for another gig at 1:45. They helped us pre-order our delicious meals and everyone was served, with a smile, by 12:30. Well done! Dietary restrictions: I did wish in the pre-ordering that I d known about the gluten free buns and toast. I would have had the $6.99 hamburager and fries special!

We celebrated a 89th birthday and the food (Tuesday specials) was delicious and our server Delvan was attentive and friendly.

Food were not fresh and the rating 2 i because the pancake was undercooked. Even after showing the issue and they agreeing to it, they did not deduct the amount from the bill which was unpalatable.

I was given a gift certificate for Christmas and we finally popped in at lunch. My friend loved the yummy milkshake and Fish and chips. I was really looking forward to try out Symposium for a while, so I took my husband out for a quiet breakfast there. I was very disappointed with the food and coffee which we ordered for breakfast. We ordered a latte and a coffee. The latte seemed like just milk no espresso and coffee also tasted bad. The toast was extremely dry and the avacado toast had oxidized guacamole all over it,. The fruits were super stale. In terms of the service - , it was ok , but when I asked the server to bring me some warm water (they did not offer water as we sat there), she brought be ice cold water. We also got a BLT sandwich which was bad. I will not be going back to this place. Vegetarian options: Few vegetarian options.

Server (Joanna) was pleasant, professional, excellent at anticipation, and food came in a timely manner. We havent been to this symposium before, but have been to the Guelph and Milton locations. We were coming for a 1 pm reservation, so I was going to have lunch rather than the breakfast menu. The waitress told me that lunch is only served on weekdays, I could only get fish and chips after 4 pm, and that I could choose a lunch item from a very small leaflet inside the menu. It consisted of burgers, a couple wraps, salad and soup. I was looking forward to having fish and chips, as it was on the lunch menu. So instead I ordered a salad because I wasnt interested in the rest of the items on the very small weekend lunch menu. As we got up to leave, I overheard our waitress asking another table if they wanted the fish and chips before or after another item was brought out...or something of that sort. My whole family was like, did we just hear that correctly? So they will pick and choose who they like and they will make them those menu items as they see fit I guess. Wont be coming back here, as the other locations allow you to have lunch items all week, not just Monday to Friday. Disappointed is an understatement.

My friends and I had a lovely experience here for Sunday Brunch! Our server Kafil was so sweet and personable, we loved him! Our food was great as well. I ordered the mediterranean omelette and enjoyed every bite. Will definitely come back!

First time visit and Tuesday was the Pasta Night Special. Ordered 2 great pasta dishes. You can order from menu or create your own pasta. Both were plentiful and delicious. Side Mediterranean salad with home-made dressing was very hearty. What made the evening memorable was not just the delicious food but the excellent service by our server Joanna and other female server. They were both friendly, professional and worked together making sure all their customers were being attended too. One of the largest menus Ive ever seen. They have something to suit everyones taste. Great decor , you dont feel like you are in a shopping mall restaurant. Plenty of parking, great location and late hours for a late dinner compared to other restaurants that close by 8pm on a weeknight. Will definitely be back!

It is a nice place yet the hygiene level is not that great. The waiter brought us orange juice with unwrapped straw that he carried in his hands (no cover or napkin or anything). The juice itself was okay. We also took Vanilla Latte and it was quite good.

I have been to several Symposium restaurants in the GTA and Guelph. This is far best than any of them. I was there for lunch. Food was delicious. Good quantity. Reasonable price. Great atmosphere and very clean! Going again for breakfast. 5 stars for sure.

I have recently visited this Symposium location a few times in the space of a couple of weeks for late breakfasts and lunches with my wife, my two young children, and my elderly mother who was visiting the country. On every occasion we were served by an outstanding member of waiting staff called Matthew. Exterior and interior design at the Symposium is great. It feels very classy, with Greek-vibes and chic décor. There is an excellent sized patio for sitting outside during the warmer months, however we enjoyed being indoors whilst it was cold out. Matthew, our server on every occasion, was incredibly attentive and welcoming to us all, and was very accommodating and chatty with the children which was nice. Times between being seated and ordering food and drinks is perfect, it didnt feel too long or too short. Food quality was superb, with everyone thoroughly enjoying all the dishes we ordered (eggs benedict of various kinds, caramel banana French toast, and some kids meals of bacon and egg breakfasts). Everything was well-presented on the plate, portion sizes were good, and the quality and taste was excellent. Matthew was also happy to accommodate some custom requests we made, and was also quick to fix a small issue we had with one of the orders on one visit. Cost of the meals is average when compared to other dining experiences, however given the quality of the food at the Symposium and the level of service from their waiting staff, I would gladly go back here. Every. Time.

Great place to meet friends. Nice atmosphere. Our reservation was saved as requested, but for an almost empty restaurant when we arrived, we were given a HUGE table for only 3 of us!! Not sure we needed so much distance between us. Awkward. Food was fair. Rice bowl had good variety, but still very heavy on rice portion.

The food was delicious, my family of 6 loved it. Everything was great up until it was time to pay the bill. Our bill was $144 and we gave the waiter $150. He started asking us loudly right at our table, that s it? That s all you re giving me, don t you know when you go to a restaurant it s 18% tip you have to pay?! He was literally so loud others could hear at the next table. We felt so embarrassed and insulted. My husband quickly pulled out another $50 and gave it to him. He took the money and didn t return. We waited 10 mins for him to come back with our change but he didn t. I got up and walked over to him asking for our change. He said how much, I told him give me $30 back. You wanted 18% appreciation, but doesn t mean you keep all of our money. We don t mind paying the tip but he didn t tell us before we started ordering that it s a 18% appreciation fee and it was not included in our bill. We will never go back to this restaurant just because of this waiters behaviour and rudeness.

Not what it used to be the environment is clean but our server was disorganized and kept coming overstaying asking us for dessert menu when we hadn t finish our mains yet. As for food the mussels were too salty had to send back the fried shrimps were best chicken quesadillas dry and condiments didn t taste fresh. My daiquiri had too much alcohol the fish tacos were good but nothing memorable it s clear they don t know what they re doing here .

the food here is good, but the consistent lack of good and prompt service will never be able to justify spending money here. i ve been in symposium twice in the last week and encountered different staff members who all have absolutely zero sense of urgency or communication skills. my boyfriend and i were in on thursday and ordered an appetizer to share and an entree each before noticing the table talker that advertised a 2 can dine for $65 on thursdays (including a shared app and an entree each). i asked our server if what we ordered qualifies and she said no because they have a different menu for that deal which we were never offered. very disappointing. i then went in on sunday in a last minute attempt to buy some take out drinks as all other options for alcohol were unavailable due to it being easter. i went up to the bar and when asked what i needed i explained this and the bartender said ok one minute and then rushed all over the place to make a frozen drink. several other staff members were around and none offered to help for about10 minutes and when someone finally did, i was told that i needed to order food to get take out alcohol. that was fine by me - i asked for a piece of cake. i was then told that any alcohol needed to be ordered through uber eats? i stood waiting at the bar for 10 minutes after telling them what i was there for to be told they couldn t help me? huge waste of my time. i foolishly try to give this restaurant another chance every 6 months or so and am always disappointed. the amount of positive reviews this place has is astonishing to me.

Overall, dining at this restaurant was a delight from start to finish. The delicious food, impeccable service from our server Joanna and charming ambiance made for a memorable experience.

The food is good but they need to learn to separate tongs, serving spoons etc for serving vegetarian food from meat items. Today I ordered a Mediterranean salad( vegetarian) and there was a piece of bacon at the bottom. I am extremely disappointed that even when I complained to the server, she apologized but there was no acknowledgement from the manager or kitchen . I paid the bill including 18% tip and left. I will avoid eating at this place thereafter as I do not think they take my concern seriously. Vegetarian options: No care taken to avoid meat eg: bacon getting into a vegetarian meal

Came with some friends, not a fan of the food here but a couple of friends find it convenient as usually they don t bother us if we stay for a little while. Our server recommended an omelette, I didn t like it, as it had more green peppers that any other veg that it was supposed to have. Service was good, atmosphere is ok.

I got sick eating here. The service was dog water. We asked the server for another cup of coffee which never came. This isn t the first time this cafe let me down. I took a date here a while back and the service was slow, unattentive and took forever for our food to come out. I won t be returning. Sorry.

We visited this cafe 2 days before new years. The food was delicious, especially the Chicken Parm. The service was wonderful, shout out to Nav- he helped us pick the food, asked for feedback afterwards, and made sure we were fully satisfied.

Had a pineapple raspberry milkshake there. Couldn t taste the pineapple. Funny thing is on the receipt it says pineapple , no raspberry, so you would think that if they forgot something it would be the pineapple. Also ordered marinara mussels, which just tasted like tomato sauce (but perhaps I just don t like marinara and mussels together). Nonetheless, one mussel was fully closed, and a couple were minuscule. The garlic bread was good though, but not what I m paying $17.95 for. Service was ok. One plate of food was brought in way before everyone else s, so we had to ask them to reheat it and bring it in with the rest of the food. Having worked in the industry before that s the way it should be, especially when everything ordered was appetizer. Overall, I wouldn t come back here for food. Maybe I d give another drink a try.

I love this chain if restaurant the food is good but went to this location and had the worse experience ever and will never visit there again. I had to leave after 30 min of no service not even coffee and then finally had it after 45 min of starving.

This is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The food is absolutely amazing and Im even thinking about being a regular. The prices make sense and everything is so gorgeous from the paintings to the way the servers treat you. This place feels like home the moment you walk in.

Me, and a couple of my colleagues went to this location in November,. All of us live with a Visual impairment, and received amazing service from Johanna!!! Johanna was patient and friendly and very personable all the way from when we first came in to when we left. I really enjoyed my experience at this location of symposium and will definitely come back after this exceptional service.

Elloise was a wonderful server! Mussels Florentine were amazing, the seafood pasta was alright.

We ordered two pastas and two rice bowls. All of them were under expectations. Lower than average to be honest. Soory but the carbonara pasta had no taste at all and the noodles were overcooked. Very disappointing. Kids meals were fine though.

They burned my vegetable flat bread and my chicken Cesar wrap tasted like warm mush. I was there on August 16 at lunchtime.

Came here today for dinner with my wife, the waitress told us she was new, so I am not completely blaming her. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, then another 25 minutes just to order our food. When the food arrives, what I ordered is not what I got. They claim it is same dish. I ordered Portuguese Chicken Dinner, the pic on the menu showed chicken leg and thigh, I ordered that because I love dark meat. What came to the table was a thin flat chicken breast, white meat. I complained instantly and asked to speak with management, and he refused to come to my table. I am writing this review from the booth at the Upper Middle location, have not received the bill yet, but definitely not leaving a tip

My husband and I ordered the Southwest chicken Benedict and for my surprise the guacamole didn t seem fresh. Due to that the guacamole took away all the good flavours from the food. The service was good. The atmosphere does have anything special.

Last minute going out plans :) Eric, our waiter was super chill and made sure our night went well, checking in regularly. Quiet, clean, cute place. Food is well portioned and filling! You just want to keep trying more and more on the menu. Would say salmon is a little bland but might be my own personal preference.

The use of old oils on french fries and fish and chips isnt ideal. The kids didnt like the pizza, the mac and cheese was ok.

I m giving the food 1 star because there is no 0 star. The food was disgusting and this is the second time we experience the same problem with the food at this location. The first time they left the omelette runny this time we asked for well done and they burnt it. Not only that the omelette didn t smell right either.

Hello out there , We decided to drop in at this place on the way home from the hospital. We ordered breakfast. Let me please share this with you. The coffee tasted like dish water. The bacon was so thinly cut that it almost evaporated on the way to your mouth. Once it hit your tongue it simply dissolved as if it didn t even exist. Tired of being treated like a fool in this country.

Symposium Cafe in Oakville, nestled within a bustling strip mall off Third Line, boasts ample parking convenience. The interior décor, though average, is complemented by the welcoming and courteous staff. During our visit, we sampled an array of dishes, and the consensus was that it falls short of being exceptional. The food quality, on the whole, can be described as merely average. The lunch special featuring fish and chips disappoints with a smaller-sized cod piece. Moreover, the service can be sluggish, especially when it comes to getting your drinks, making refills nearly impossible before its time to leave. The omelets, usually a challenge to make dry, indeed lacked their expected moisture. The burger we ordered proved overly salty, with overcooked and dry patties, while the bun seemed past its prime. The Caesar salad left much to be desired, as it lacked sufficient dressing and came in a rather modest portion, making any additional charge unjustifiable. Although the menu does offer gluten-friendly options, it remains uncertain how well they fare in terms of quality. As Symposium Cafe operates as a franchise, the path to improvement may prove challenging. Nevertheless, we extend our best wishes for their future endeavors.

They serve bland foods in small portions with very poor presentation. I am pretty sure my freshly squeezed orange juice just pour out of a juice box. Service is average but the gentleman who was helping never heard about cortado!!

Great service and nice place. I heard great things about it but my experience was pretty normal. Food was ok and the atmosphere can be better (washrooms need a renovation). Overall the people were very hospitable and customers do feel welcomed.

I walked in on a late afternoon not knowing that they only do brunch/breakfast till 4 PM. My son specifically wanted a pasta and so we were about to leave when the waitress asked for a minute and came back to say that the chef can make one just for us from the regular menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service especially since they were very busy at the time. Also, the pasta was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Cozy place with a small high top bar if anyone is interested in stopping there for a drink. The menu is massive and the rice bowl I got seemed like it was microwaved as there was steam coming from the center and the bowl was hot. That being said, it was all still pretty tasty and for a fair price I cant really complain. The service from Vita was great. Checked in to see how things were without seeming pushy and was quick with getting the drink I ordered. Overall, Id definitely come back because there are some genuinely delicious sounding items on the menu, especially the Zucchini noodles.

Close to our house so convenient but I rarely rave about the food here. It is average and a little pricey for the quality. Nice ambience and service waa decent. Food : 3/5

Highly recommended! Very nice ambiance/atmosphere. I always come back here because food are delicious and the staff are very attentive and friendly, specially Nav. He is very nice and accommodating. Happy for his service. Food

I was ignored for two hours after I finished my meal here. I kept looking around and thinking, Oh, maybe they re just busy but as I kept looking around it became evident that I was purposely being ignored. As I made my way to the register to pay, I asked one of the male staff If it s customary for their diners to have to come up and pay for their bill. He said and proceeded to say that they are the ones that provide the bill for you while you are seated. The thing is, he was on the floor as well but only served on a particular side of the restaurant. (Btw, any of the staff leaving the kitchen would have seen me, my booth is directly across from the kitchen where so they would have seen my finished plates that were in front of me for two hours!) The two other servers tended to 3 table in very close proximity to where I was sitting while bringing and clearing away their used appetizer plates it s 2023, basically 2024 and if anyone still chooses to ignore the fact that treatment like this still happens in Canada, then please understand that you re a victim to Cognitive Dissidence and I wish for you life changing awakening

Had a wonderful time. Our server Latashya had such good hospitality and showed great service during our visit. The food and drinks were phenomenal, I would definitely visit again!
